Goodbye, Back

Here’s the horizon
Blinding and captivating
You’re gone forever

The Salton Sea

Just a moment to live
The time has come
For me to give up
All I have done

Just one thing to ask
With the time left to breathe
A favor of mercy
That cannot come from a priest

Just a moment to say
Please, God would you hear me?!
Take me from this, that I have made
And lay me down
Lay me down in the salton sea

The Truth of Fiction

Bounding behind the bushes of your favorite place to feel alive
Dance upon the remains of the memories of those deep inside
It's a smile upon the face of the ones pressing upon your temples
Wishes bring about the hope that maybe the dream is just as simple

Dip the bucket into the well of your soul and show us what you pull out
Hanging by their harp strings, dangling about on every cloud
What will we do when we come to find the villain and the hero are one and the same?
When time's run out, your name's reached the head of the line and there's no one else to
blame?

You wish just once home would come back to you, you've had your fill of desolation
You hate your bitter-sweet, oxymoron, paradoxical life
The movie without film, the script without paper, the credit without pay
Hypothetical reality, I hate you

Pain As Deep

Hands of seared flesh
Clinging to my chest
Salt and sea
Blowing gusts of pain
You think me evil
You think me wicked
I do this all for you

A hundred years, it’s been
So long, and yet again
I burn from the passion
Gallows, I face, press in
A hundred years, I’ve come
Through every inch of home
My brothers are dead and gone
Search this earth alone, on and on
A hundred years, I still hold on

With every breath I get closer
With every crest I sink lower
Just dreams to place asunder
As this deep black drowns another winter

You seem beyond any direction
I’ve lost every impression
And begin to I drown in my desperation
By the salton sea, I am imprisoned

Just a tear, just a word
Just a hope, a prayer
Another hundred years
I beg of you! Don’t let go!

The stars mumble and laugh
Hidden behind the clouds
I’m straying from my path
By ghostly voices, my thoughts are drowned

My crucifix
My compass
My altar
And mast
A mast

Heartless, hateful tyrant
Tasteless tears raped by the contaminant
Ten thousand of these, a hundred years
Just a soul searching for its heart
Left a century ago
In hopes the beholder would not in woe
Lose faith, see not a hope and let go

Should'Ve Been You

Taking the punishment
Hatred weighs down on this pure soul
Never to see the brilliance of the sun
Loses life before given the chance
Oblivious to its scale
Eyes closed forever

Shove down your words
No one wants to hear them
You're everything you claim to hate
You're hated by everything you thought you knew
Your reasons won't justify
They won't save you
It should've been you

The length of your arm
Measures your love for your child
The succession of your existence
All they'll remember is how bad this hurt
They choked down tears
Out of hate and fear
No want of provocation

Shove down your excuses
It won't bring them back to life
Burn in your hell before you reach the one waiting for you
You are the reason for the unborn child
The darkness smothering our youth
Sit down, you're pathetic
It should've been you

Choking on your smoke
Waste of an excuse
Lack of life, you sit and laugh
While it still has its hold on you
You gave up before you even tried
Your little brother pays your price
You sit and soak up the visions dancing 'round your head

Shove down your pills
Swallow your existence or lack thereof
A cowardice piece of driftwood
You never dared to live
Drown in your bottle
He's dropped out, a workaholic
Nothing for him, but the hole eating his stomach
He lies alone now, in a bed, waiting for his heart to stop

It should've been you
What are you waiting for?
Take your stand and make a point
How wise you are in the ways of ignorance
Tranquil in your lack of purpose
You destroy our lives and gain a kingdom
Tear our hopes in two and say it's sacrifice

Shove down your words
They belong in your stomach
Spare us the agonizing nausea
And feel it for yourself
Fighting a war behind a desk
You kill with the stroke of a pen
If the death of one of them is of such little value
Imagine how worthless yours would be
It should've been you

Spoonful of Sugar

Enveloping
Consuming me
Overwhelming to say the least
Won't you hold me?!
Won't you hold me closer, please?!

Growing older, such a farce
Peripheral maturity
Melts away by the time you're on your knees
The harder we become
The more devastating a single crack can be

Enveloping
Consuming me
Overwhelming
To say the least
Won't you hold me?!
Won't you hold me closer, please?!

I'm still a little boy inside
Hiding from the boogeyman
In the dark corners of my mind
But it's so hard to hide
From me

Enveloping
Consuming me
Overwhelming
To say the least
Won't you hold me?!
Won't you hold me closer, please?!

When everything falls away! Falls away, yeah!
It never really died to me, died to me!
How do we go about forgiving ourselves?!
When all seems to be dead inside
And we're the only ones to blame?!
So, how do we go about it?! How do we?! How do we?!

Sing for today, and hope for tomorrow
Run from the thought that always seems to swallow
You…

A Heart and a Sledge Hammer

Let's think this over as if there's anything to say
Push me to the level that makes you feel superior
God forbid you realize how low you really are

Let's be careful, don't want to offend your delicate ears
Push me away so you can fly away into your imaginary sunrise
God forbid you fall and find out your world's the same as mine

Let's watch this boil over into a glare of hateful silence
Push me into a frightful state of cold and longing
God forbid you listen to your own words and understand my amusement

Let's take a second to let this sink in
Push me into your mind, I’m only here to provide ambient noise
God forbid your ego face reality and see the ugliness that reflects back at you

Let's think this over as if there's anything to say
Push me away and see the truth is not a fairy tale set in a world of pink and bubbles
God forbid the earth revolve around the sun and ignore you, because it likes to be bright
and warm

Let's take a second, maybe two, I don't want to lose you
Push me all you want, I won't move just because you snap your fingers
God forbid anyone think you're worth anything close to the price your pride displays

Let's take a moment because I haven't made my point yet
Egotistical identity defined by a relationship with a man who resembles the passage of
defecation
Your so-called intelligence is not without a sense of desperation
He's nothing, you're nothing, and nothing's all you'll ever be
God forbid you wake up from your dream and see that you're all alone

You're nothing...you're nothing
And nothing's all you'll ever be
Let's think this over as if there's anything to say

Unwanted Child of Indulgence

The penetrating security I’ve found
In our little immature relationships
Never talk unless something is desired
The monotonous depiction of friendship
You're undesired wisdom you share without a second thought
When you know nothing about me, about who I am
Do not be fooled by this number, there's such much more inside
One to talk, should you ever recognize where you are
Surely it would destroy your umbrella and let in the rain
Whatever you think you know about me
Is seen through a haze of your own ignorance
Dealing with who you really are
This is not who I am

Seen through the eyes of others
God is still merely a friend
You know nothing of the real world
The stabbing knives you would call people
The enveloping lie you would see as love
Hide underneath your umbrella deep inside the closet
I won't be there to walk you through this
We're all taught through neglecting silence
Take a breath before you step out
It'll be the last one for the rest of your life
Frightening rain rips through your shelter
I stand outside your group of followers
Look not to me for direction
I am a wandering flock of one
Find your own way through the enemy's playground
The teacher's left a long time ago
As dependent as an infant sheep
You can not, you can not
This is not who you are

Sentiment

I tried to see what life would be like on the other side of the mirror
I knocked on the glass for days, but no one ever let me in
Cracking, finally, the reflecting world showed me the truth
That it's just like the one I’m in; it only makes you bleed in the end

I only close my eyes
To find something worth looking at
I can only hear your voice
When I’m screaming into the wall
I only think on you
When the cynical inspiration dissipates
And sometimes only the freezing cold
Is all that reminds me I can still feel

Living this perfect life, dream lover, dream house, dream happiness
Take for granted the gift, not accepting your needy independence
Lust, greed, emotional gluttony; everything you've ever wanted
It’s only thanks to me, I created the twist in your soul, I made you who you are

I only close my eyes
To find something worth looking at
I can only hear your voice
When I’m screaming into the wall
I only think on you
When the cynical inspiration dissipates
And sometimes only the freezing cold
Can remind you that you can still feel

Taken by the presence of an all too familiar enemy
This man staring from the corner; he never leaves, never leaves me
Gentle whispers of deception takes hold and only tightens
Painful sobriety renders me vulnerable and helpless
He only laughs as I pray to God to save me

I only close my eyes
To find something worth looking at
I can only hear your voice
When I’m screaming into the wall
I only think on you
When the cynical inspiration dissipates
And sometimes only the freezing cold
Can remind you that you can still feel

Stare into a face, frozen for eternity
Never aging, never moving, never leaving; its world merely fades to white
Longing to go back, wishing to be, nothing humors the hope
Not tears, prayers, nor blood can bring them back
Trapped behind wood and glass; imprisoned in this photograph

I only close my eyes
To find something worth looking at
I can only hear your voice
When I’m screaming into the wall
I only think on you
When the cynical inspiration dissipates
And sometimes only the freezing cold
Can tell me that I can still feel

Forever

As the dawn breaks
I feel my shell drift away
So, if I have gone
Before you wake
There’s something I feel
I should say

Too long I’ve waited
For the dream to bleed
Into the veins of the real
Too far I’ve drifted
As the winds revive
The rotting sails

If it means my life
If it means the memory
If it means my soul
And all of eternity
Even then, my love
You will have all of me

My vision drowns
As I kneel down
To kiss you one last time
Sleep soundly, my angel, now
Waking will deliver the nightmare
So, keep closed your eyes
For I might, then, truly be immortal

Your hand clasps mine
Reflexive as it may be
Is a gesture, so precious to me
Screaming inside, I whisper, “Goodbye”
For the sun will not stop for our love

My sweet, if I’m to go
Before you wake
Know that not all dreams are evil
And some are eternal
My heart lives on
Inside of yours
Whilst the shell has blown away

Resting on the breeze, I find you
Listen carefully, I wish to say
My precious, I love you
And I am here with you, now and always
