Pheasant Hunt

When I can barely see the sun, I put on my clothes and get out the shot gun.
My bird dog is my shadow all full of excitement and love because he knows he'll soon be
able to run.
We load in the truck and drive to the site where we hunt pheasant with all our might.
My dog is my best friend. He knows me well, as he flushed up a rooster and the first one fell.
When we come home all tired and sore, we know the next day we'll be ready for more.
It doesn't matter how much time we spend, as there's nothing better than hunting with my
best friend.

Blue Eyes

My eyes ponder at the stunning scene
The mountains and snow caps are so serene
Wind blows gently through the field
Waving wild flowers once concealed
The sound of nature humming in my ears
What splendor to enjoy year after year
I'm a country girl through and through
Maybe that's why my eyes are blue.

Altered Time

Time dances by and changes transpire
So many possessions to desire
Gaze into the future and who do you perceive
Only shadows of who you used to be
An illusion of emergent life
Who are you now?
Who am I now?
A creation of altered time.

Situations carve the soul
Darkness within tries to control
Gaze into the reflection of the premature past
Once innocent, naïve, so eager to believe
A closer glance reveals a glare
A slight sense of despair
Who are you now?
Who am I now?
A creation of altered time.

My senses turn to pure blindness
Why don't I know the way I feel?
When I gaze I do not see
I do not see who you used to be
Your misty eyes do not faze me now
Your whole persona isn't real
What was once oh so bright turns to the darkness of night
Who are you now?
Who am I now?
A creation of altered time.

I once loved you with all my heart
Only for you to tear it apart
I can't believe I did not see
I did not see who you would be
One without feeling, one without care
Now with someone other my heart I will share
Don't try to come back, oh don't you dare
What I have now is so rare
A torch burns within my soul
I have reached the ultimate goal
Who are you now?
Who am I now?
We are a creation of altered time.

Raining

My love for my children is exploding inside
All of my emotions are in a landslide
My heart heavy and aching and making me weak
I'm lost in this black cloud, tears raining on my cheek
I raised and protected them until they spread their wings
Oh what happy memories their lives do bring
It seems only yesterday they were by my side
Always needing something or wanting a ride
I should be content they have made it this far
But I want to go back to the very start
I am not ready to be tossed aside
To let them live as they decide
I am their mother from beginning to end
Happy they're leaving I cannot pretend
This time should be a parent's ultimate goal
To Watch as their lives do unfold
But for now I am in pain
Is there anything that can stop this rain?
