For the One Who Stands

Life fading before your very eyes
So many false promises and far too many lies
Laying beside He who stands
Questioning answers and making demands.

Your meandering soul so very dark
The light slightly seen by that single spark
Crouched below the turbulent tide
With He who stands by your side.

Moonbeams and those blessed dreams
And the places only you have seen
Crawling at the feet of He who stands
Roses, their thorns and blood on your hands.

The majestic meaning of your thoughts
Your demon challenged and iron wrought
Placed as if a speck of discarded sand
All of this for the one who stands.

The Ringmaster

Before the crowds entered in,
Before the lights would uncover the stage
The Ringmaster would stand and gaze.

Such a wonderful sight as they would bring in the clowns
Their colourful bicycles circling round and round.

Balloons and costumes,streamers and bells
Laughter and those childish yells.

The strongest man and the playful dwarfs
Knife throwers and fire eaters,
You couldn't ask for more.

Trapeze acts and flying wheels
Dancing parades and men of steel.

Sword swallowers and trampolenes
Swings and comic scenes.

The Ringmaster would proudly stroll in,
Before the lights would darken the stage
He would stand and gaze.

Nights Out

Disco dreams and disco balls
Big city,bright lights
Pub crawls and bar fights.
Mini frocks and hair dyes
Made up faces
Mascara filled eyes.
Vodka martinis and champagne
Bus trips and black cabs
Standing in the rain.
Nightclubs and deejays
Entry stamps on wrists
And tattooed fists.
Late nights and hangovers
Fast cars and kebabs
White wine spritzers
And mishaps.
One night stands and live bands
Autographs and queues
Sing-a-longs and sad songs
And over packed loos.
One line gags and handbags
Glitter and sparkling eyes
Cigarettes and suffragettes
Gossip and lies.
Brawls,another one falls
Drunks and punks
Frilly skirts and love hurts
And late rides.
Secret kisses and front row seats
Cinema aisles
Red lipped smiles
Beauties and beasts.
Flashy cars and night time stars
Takeaways and glad rags
Silly jokes and whiskey cokes
Dreams and high hopes.
Nights out and walkabouts
Cheap thrills and teenage wonder
Hitch hikes and motorbikes
Delinquent lightning and thunder.

An Ode To Rachel

She shone within the Sun's realm
And her beautiful soul danced beneath the light of the moon.
She had touched my heart with her kindness
And her devotion had cleansed my soul.
Her name was Rachel
My Grandmother,my friend
And it seems like forever that i have missed her
And will do until my life's end.
I always wonder why she had been taken so soon,
At least i had the chance to tell her that i loved her too
And as each day passes i think of her always
Imagining what she would look like if her journey of Life
Was still going strong
And sometimes i do weep for having lost her
For i truly wish that she was still here
Instead of beneath the earth
And so very distant from me.
I call her the Rose
For indeed she was the blooming flower of my Life
And although she has passed
I know that her spirit walks beside me
For i feel a presence,
I know that it is she
My guardian,my angel
My dear Rachel still lives through me.

Deep In Thought

The crashing tide of this turbulent sea of emotion
As Autumn turns to Winter
And as snow falls
So does my heart fall so much deeper.
Never have i felt like this before
And never have my thoughts been so complex
Fighting the rivers that flow before me
As my guides through life,
As my guardians of Nature.

The prevailing winds of this unforgiving land
Tell their own tales
And i am defeated by their strengths
As they are by my weakness
And as we stand upon this battleground
My heart knows not of which path to take
But it still wanders forwards
Carrying Hope to find Destiny.

The power of Mother Earth does move me
And i am at her mercy if you will
For this land on which i lie upon
Holds many a secret unrevealed.
Time does not wait
As its hands move faster towards the end
And i am certain of change if not my own
And this heart is somewhat fulfilled
As it is eager to face what lies in wait.

The Last Dance

'Twas the eve of the day to follow
My body tense,my soul hollow.
I embraced the night like it was a friend
Knew i would remain here till the bitter end.
Dark and cold in this mysterious place
Had i really fallen from Grace?
Standing before the mirror peering at the face i had become
Fearful of nothing for where could i run.
At my feet lay my broken wings
Now shattered but reminiscent of wonderful things.
Would Forgiveness shine on my withered past?
My stride only to stumble on splintered glass.
Would Mercy bless me with a second chance
'Twas the eve before my last dance.

Decadence

'Tis the end of an era my friend,
Your glistening heart as found solace
Upon this very land.
Does Ulysses not sit with you still?
Does He not speak with you in your dreams?
Your thoughts have changed my friend,
Your light has been crowned by a remorseful shadow
And you weep as the willow.
Has Thor shown you ways of war?
Has Achilles revealed true weakness?
You have become sullen my friend,
Your life's passage seems to be laden with thorns
And your song is less sweet.
Has Venus not shown you the ways of love?
Has Poseidon not shown you the many depths?
Your soul seems somewhat frail my friend,
The whites of your eyes are not as pure
And their pools seem shallow.
Has Hera forsaken you?
Has Diana not shown you her arrow's power?
'Tis not the way my friend,
Your destiny lies in hope and strength
Upon this very land.

Now and Forever

Time has been kind to us my dear,
We have taken it by the hands.
Destiny has been kind to us my love,
We have fulfilled its many demands.
Venus has embraced us my precious,
We have let her walk beside me and you.
Cupid has brought us together my darling,
We have let him pursue.
Passion has lead the way my sweetheart,
We have so eagerly followed.
Desire has shown us the path my angel,
We have gladly gone in whole.
Life has served us well my Queen,
We have sang perfectly to its tune.
Nature has offered her reward my Goddess,
We have laid beneath its full moon.
Earth has blessed us my Sovereign,
We have held onto its spirit and mind.
Fortune has delivered unto us its key my lover,
Now and Forever we shall never wander blind.

Epitaph

Here lies a man i knew,
That i loved and shared dreams with.
Had always been so attentive,
Kind and persevering.
His soul now definitely lies in a better place
For he had based his life upon forgiveness
And had shown me the way.
He was extraordinary of mind
And so very pure of heart,
He was loyal and giving
Always there when able.
Here lies my true love
Forever as i remain
Here and thereafter.

The Confession

She knelt down beside him,
His face appeared torn as his eyes pierced the ground
He had a secret to tell her.
Angeline's eyes wandered towards his ring,
She remembered their vows
Seemed like an eternity now.

He gently held her hands
Just as he had done way back then,
His sullen glance met with her confused glare.
Henry knew his deceit would silently tell,
He remembered their love
Seemed just as well.
