Barbed Wire Heart

A heart wrapped in barbed wire.
it shouldnt beat, it shouldnt pump.
it shouldnt make the faintest sound,
of a little thump thump.
but its there, and its cold.
all the pain, and the hurt
is realy getting old.
how long can it beat, wrapped up in wire?
it cant be much longer, till its done and im free.
but wait, it gets tighter. hurting more and more.
cant it just be done? can my misery be over?
someone pleas just pull it out.
what ever happens then cant be worse then now.
i wish i could scream, i wish i could shout,
but no sound escapes these lips.
these lips, once so warm and tender,
now sit cold and forgotten,
just like a burnt out ember.
pleas just make it stop!
no longer can i bare it!
pleas just make it stop!
that way, i wont have to share it,
this misery that surrounds me.
tighter and tighter, the wire holds its grip.
its slashing and ripping,
like its being whipped.
how long can i stand it?
please tell me how!?
its impossible to ever feel, especially now.
its been cut, its been beat,
no longer is it usefull.
cant anyone see that it would be better off gone?
i cant do it myself! i need someones help!
will no one come save me?
will no one come help?
feelings burn, no longer pleasent.
i waited and waited,
focousing only on the present.
to late! im gone. to lost in the past.
my life is speeding by, all to fast,
but wait, now it stops, mooving by like a snail.
the hammer has once again found my heart,
pounding in the nail.
and so its no use, my fate has been sealed.
this heart wrapped in wire will never be healed.

Once Upon a Time-

Once upon a time there was a boy,
but his life was no fairytale.
A past full of pain and secrets,
memories shrouded in darkness.

At times he found love, but sometimes
it was destroyed without given a chance.
This boy grew wary, sleep became scarce.
In his mind there was no future,
nothing worth working towards, he thought.

But then it all changed,
his life seemed more valuable to him.
I’m not sure why, or even how
he managed to turn his thoughts around,
but somehow he did, and now
he believes he has a future after all.

Now I'm no sorcerer or fortuneteller,
but I know one thing for sure;
He will be happy in life,
he will have true love, he will have hope.

And his future will be bright,
filled with happiness and light.
I only hope that in some way
I stay a part of his life.

Someday his world will become a fairytale,
with a happy ending all his own.
And I can’t wait to see that happen.

Thank You, Lord

For the sun rising each and every day,
Blazing fire in the sky
Illuminating all there is to see.
Painting the morning
With deep blue, pink, and orange,
Creating the most splendid rainbow
The eye could ever see.

For the moon each night,
Radiating its magnificent light.
As its brothers and sisters
Twinkle all around.
The silver and white beauty
Cascading down upon a quiet earth,
Creating a majesty of art all around.

For the rain that falls,
Giving life to all that grows.
Making flowers breath taking,
And trees awe-inspiring.
Filling the rivers with water,
Rushing white, and calming blue,
Making the land move and come alive.

For the spirit filling the body,
Swelling with happiness and hope,
The center of love and life.
The most mysterious beauty
Known to man, and also the most familiar.
A beacon of luminous light guiding the way
Through the darkness all around.

For the trials facing everyday life,
Reminding us of our strength,
And keeping us close to you.
Showing that life is still possible
Through times of hardship, and that
There are no burdens we are given
That are too heavy for us to carry.

For the love surrounding us
Through friends, family, and you.
Keeping us strong and compassionate,
Bringing sadness and great joy.
Showing that you are ever present,
Never leaving our sides, and always
Giving us what we need.

For your son, who took on all of our
Mistakes and wrong doings, though we
Do not always show our thanks.
Opening the gates to your great kingdom,
So that we may one day walk with
You in your place of perfection and beauty
Only knowing love, peace, and serenity.

For allowing us back to you
After turning our backs and disobeying your law.
Your great mercy never ending,
Your word guiding our way,
Your punishments keeping us humble,
And your strength that is
Enough to carry us all in your hands.

Path

Walking down the path of life,
the path splits. Left or right?
You make your choice, but the
the path splits again. Left, center, or right?
Again you choose and continue
life’s journey. Again and again
the path splits, becoming
more and more complex. Again
and again you choose a direction.

But soon worry washes in.
Have I chosen wrong? Should I
go back? Too late, you can’t change
the past. Continuing forward
stepping with care, until finally you stop,
sit down; shut your eyes, wonder
if the path will ever be clear.

You stay where you are, fear rooting
you to the time and place you’re in.
People go by, passing you, going
further in their journey while
you stay stuck, stricken with fear.

Over and over you ask yourself
what if I chose wrong? What if
I'm not where I should be?
Am I lost? Should I keep trying?
Questions and fear ripple over your skin,
replaying in your mind.

Stand up little one, leave your
fear where you stand. step forward,
take my hand. If you stop now
you’ll never find where you’re meant
to be. Hold on to some questions,
for they keep you on your guard,
but don’t live in fear. Mistakes may
be made, but new paths appear
going way to a brighter place.

Never stop on life’s path,
find happiness and sadness,
strength and weakness. Continue
on until your dead, because
only then does your life’s journey end.

Bad Things, Good People

They say bad things,
Happen to good people.
They are right.
She's a good person,
One of the best.
Even more amazing,
Than all the rest.
Yet it happened to her.
She's fighting hard,
Not willing to loose.
Does she have a card,
Up her sleeve for this?
No one could,
Because no one,
Could be ready for this.
No, not you,
And no not me.
It's not something,
Anyone could have seen.
I pray so hard,
Asking others as well.
Do I have to scream,
Do I have to Yell?
I will if that is what it takes,
For her to be well.
What can I do?
I'll do ANYTHING
If it means,
She gets to spread her wings,
And live freely once more.
She inspires me,
Keeping spirits high.
And now all i can do,
Is simply ask why.
Why was she given,
This horrible curse?
I simply do not understand.

dedicated to my aunt.

Beauty Is

Spreading like wildfire
through a kerosene soaked forest,
infecting the mind with
its inky black threads.
She’s too fat,
he’s too skinny,
her hair isn’t perfect,
his face is full of pimples.
No matter how they try
no one is able to reach perfection,
society’s picture of beautiful.
Perfection is not beauty,
it is cold, lifeless, unreal.
Beauty is the freckles
on the little redheaded boy.
Beauty is the curves
on the girl’s body.
Beauty is the gap toothed smile
of the boy next door.
It is the face
of the girl determined
to overcome her troubles,
the glasses on the shy
girl in class.
It is the hands of the worker,
the mind of a poet,
the creativity of the artist.
It is the voice of the boy
singing off key to his favorite song,
the eyes of the girl
who see’s truth.
Beauty is everywhere,
it is life itself.
Each person holding
different aspects of it
within them.

Kindness

Kindness.
One simple word, one simple action.
Showing it to someone
Each day is simple as can be.
So, why don’t we do it?

One simple word, one simple action.
A smile or wave to someone
Who looks down. A kind word
For a girl who’s new, or
A boy who looks lonely.
So easy, yet so rare.
Why don’t we do it?

One simple word, one simple action.
A hug for a friend who’s sad,
A smile for someone you don’t even know.
Something to brighten up
Someone’s day, that only takes
One moment of your time.
So why don’t we do it?

One simple word, one simple action.
Are w cowards? Are we evil?
Do we place ourselves
So high on a pedestal, that
We’ve no time for others?
A mere “hello” or “how are you?”
For someone who doesn’t
Get spoken to often enough.
So why don’t we do it?

Kindness.
One simple word.
One simple action.
So why don’t we do it?

Defeat

Words rest on my tongue,
trying to escape my lips.
No. I wont let them. I
will not let myself be defeated
by something I cant even see.

These emotions burn deep in
my veins, chilling my
once warm heart. Warming
the blood running through
my veins is becoming so
hard. This thing keeps attacking,
each time I stand up, it
pushes me back down. It
whispers “Stay on the floor, bury your
face in your hands and give up.”
No! I Will not let myself be defeated.

I stand. I focus on the
beautiful sun set, Gods painting
on the wide open canvas of the sky.
As the moon rises, it illuminates
the earth as I've never seen.
Shadows cast across the ground.
But not dark, like those deep
within me, trying to destroy me.
No, these shadows are
filled with wonder and Secrets
waiting to be discovered.

Stars twinkle into life
out of the black depths of sky,
reminding me of hope
being born within darkness and despair.
The voice is persistent however,
trying to make me turn away
from the beauty of nature
and look back into the
cold depths of despair.
No! I will not let myself be defeated.

The darkness within me grows
weak, no longer able to
control me. The words still lay
upon my tongue, pressing to
escape my lips. But their
strength is fading, mine growing.

The stars fade out,
giving way to a sunrise.
A new beginning.
My new beginning.
I will not let it defeat me.

Beauty

Sometimes the beauty of life,
Isn’t so easy to see.
There are lots of things causing pain,
For you and for me.
It is masked or clouded,
Seeming to be gone.
Almost disappearing,
For oh so long.
But there is something,
That we all need to remember.
Whether you can see it or not,
It is always there.
The beauty of this world,
Cannot be destroyed by despair.
The sun will still shine,
And flowers will bloom.
Love will be heard,
Throughout every room.
Rivers flow,
Clean and pure.
Green grass growing,
Over hills it’s rolling.
The moon shining through,
The midnight black sky.
All the little things,
You see everyday
Make the beauty
That never goes away.
So when you can’t see it,
Just open up your eyes.
Stand tall,
And look towards the skies.
Because the beauty,
Will always be there.

Free Spirit

A free spirit she has.
Creativity flowing
Through her veins.
Works of art
Painted by her hand,
Poetry flowing
From the pen
Which is hers to command.
Thoughts on life,
The balancing act
Of earth sun and moon.
Thoughts on death,
Why some must go
Too soon.
Sorrow felt so deeply
At other peoples pain.
Her heart aches,
Feelings she can’t restrain.
A free spirit she has.
She see’s things
Others do not,
Feels things
That others forgot.
A free spirit she has,
One that falters in flight,
But always remains
In some small way
Bright.
