Lamptey Godson Kofi Poem
FROM MY ROOF TOP
From my roof top I see the world crumbles
I saw people of mine shout, endlessly
They shout for two common things
They shout for these two alone
Prosperity and democracy
They want an answer and their voices heard
But they were denied, all
An tears run down my cheek for them.
All these while two things are denied them
Just through the face masks of poli-sticks
So the country goes gaga
My country crumbles and crumbles fast
Faster than its expiry date comes
Two things are denied it as a cause
The suddenly, A man came panting
The power-man has come to shut us up.
He wears a coat too big yet very tight
To strangle our wriggling voices
'Go home, go home' I heard him shout
But he only rained saliva and a chewy gum
As I laugh, the riot explodes
Police, police, gendarme
Then blows and bloods
Bullets and batons.
Empty fists and stifled voices
There was a heightened battle to crumble a regime
So Mr. President answer me
Why poverty is now riding the economic horse
You alone jolly riding everywhere
For these decades you planted none, a seed
Your monarchy has divorced our democracy
Therefore go home, go home, too.
Yesterday your eyes were like those of an Angel
And you gaze upon us with mercy, passion, we all
Now your eyes beams of the Sun, Satan
Jesus! dear creator's messenger
Beg on our behalf, do it now
We plead your father, our grand, comes early to our rescue
To warn the world, of its bad nuts
Before it stands out against them.
We have started our calls, our shouts, our protests
From Tunisia to Egypt
Yemen to Syria
Brunei to Georgia
Here we come, to demand our pound of flesh
That, that has been taken from our toils
This day, not waiting, straight for it, now
From where they are, hidden.
The roof tops of powers
As I watch them from my roof top here.....

Lamptey Godson Kofi Poem
WOMEN SECRETS
Someone stretches his neck
Whenever she passes
Someone makes a nodding chuckle
Whenever she was heard talking
At times we brawled in pepper arguments
And she never suspects one thing
Theres nothing seen so better
What is seen is geometric triumphs
What is heard is hypnotic octaves
A walking triangle talking Ewe, Ga and Twi
A walking rectangle eating Akple, Komi and Fufu
A walking hour-glass dancing Atsiagbekor, Kpanlogo and Adowa
Yes ! a miracle of a woman
What set us yowling
Never seen from the side
But always from the her back and her face
That beauty of a woman
That buttocks of a woman
That breast of a woman
Her worth that scaled down Bank of Ghana
her voice that down-pitched the Beethoven
A babies thrown where they are nurtured
Fathers heaven where virility trives
Woman Ayekoo !

THE ZULU CRIER
Where thou thee
Sons of Afrika
There over the edge is a halo
It's coming to crown the world
He who stands wear it first
So rise up my people, my children
For we had long remain knelt to the giant
That charmeleon, Ananse of our indiference
End him now with the swords of oneness
You Asante man marry that Buganda maid
You Zulu landlord accomodate that Fula
Thee Igbo barter with that Nubian
Yee men, men of this land, I call !
All tribes, all caste of Afrika
Know thy neighbour
Break the land's fences down
And travel the sands and the rocks
From Cape Town to Alexandria
From Capo Verde to Eritrea
And share the goodness, tastes of Afrika
Of our new communism
The twenty firsst revolutionary calls
Now, Now, before the sun downs
With joy and pride.
Awake Mama Afrika !

Lamptey Godson Kofi Poem
The Kente Rug
Yet not time for me to say, say mine of thoughts
Another rug has been dump into the mud of our thoughts
Never to find a stint of a possible usage
Now this age has caught up with a heap of disgrace upon it
Useless, useless, useful days gone away
I am in need of that, that has no usage, to be my pretty
Yes, that a man gone amiss in the hands of the dumb
Compared to the days gone imageries of tasteless quests, gone once bad
My thoughts of him, him and our impatience
What we just did, turning the *Kente into a rug
Thoughts gone "bsurd
One more jewel into the earth
A rug disposed after its worth skinned off
A soul on the way to the worms festival
Today, tomorrow, a day next, when the families takes hold
A final day of a Kente rug on the dumps of Sirte or Misrata.

Lamptey Godson Kofi Poem
I spent the days looking at the ground
I thought the world had clipped my wings
I spent the hours saying I felt down
I had no strength. I felt entangled in things
And then I hear you called me (Godson)
I set my face into the breeze
I lift my head. I spread my wings and I am free
My heart was heavy in the valley down below
My soul was empty, void of love
My sight was cloud by the dust the world blows
So I set my mind on earth not things above
But now your lifts me up
From the sick bed in which i lie groaning
I will not be conquered, I am destined for your love
Courage is three letter words
Real courage is saying YES to life
Not backing down when faced with adversity
courage is acting with fear, not without it
Angel! I really love you deep down my heart.
Life is filled with challenges and opportunities
Mountains to be climbed conquered with others to follow
When you are no longer interested in climbing mountains
to see other mountains to climbed, life is over
Vision sees the invisible
Believes the incredible
And then receives the impossible
This makes the blood never to run cold
Because loves for the path of the future lives
A mind that makes Success my QUEEN

SONGS TO MY CHIEF KPORKU
In this house of yours
The air brews of peace
That long, we longed to feel
That atmosphere of dreamed love
What a father gives us, babies
Open like ripen fruits of a great fan palm
To which ants throng in chains
To which bees throng in droves
And we humans hunts hungrily
Only for the comforts we cherish
From you great King of people.
The heart of our souls
The Soul of our hearts
To which our chords are anchored
Never snap to let loose of us
As this world is too open, too cruel, too blind
Ready not to favour orphans
Without a link to your dream for us, live
So in perpetual flow
Cover us, our shade
Protect me, my armour
Father them, the mentor.
To make our song complete
Been composed of you, Togbui Kporku

Lamptey Godson Kofi Poem
DEAD DOG
For decades this dung fouls the air
Sabotaging our sniffs of the dew scents
The peace we know had risen against us
Standing on our toes like a prodigal Son
Calling from Afghanistan to Pakistan
Dirges for our generation
It has been long, it has been painful
And endlessly, there was one thing
Everywhere of our nooks
His calls sounds bells of hell
His quests smells like blood
Splashing it on every white tomb
Not knowing he exalts martyrs bones
They died in blood of ice
Cold and innocent
Ah, Ah, Ah! those bullets
Thanks he took the last roullette
The end of Osama
A birth of a Lion King, the reign of Obama
Dear world, Offer me a gourd of palm wine
To plead the fishes to mourn him to eternity
Till father grant him a final hearing
As I wait for his reincarnated soul.

Lamptey Godson Kofi Poem
A JUMP FOR BLESSING
Once you are near I want to be nearer to you, Blessed
I wish not to go back to my roots, that far
Evils I departed from and shall quest not
Love
Only when your mercies grant me
Not in bits but full to fulfill me
Enough to last me through the sojourns
To you my Lordship in Heaven above
Lay me a bed of roses to call my sleep
Where you promise ages ago from the beginning
Bless me now
As I jump to reach you, Blessed
Love

Lamptey Godson Kofi Poem
THE RISEN HEADS
We know ourselves for long, since ages
A time we spent in a small kiosk as bar boys, in the weekdays
A time we spent processing fish in the odd days
A time we spent tossing tops hunted from *Tanu
Oh yeah, happy old days, formulating our dreams
We have a dream and dare live to it
Its true we change not in a day but overnight
That we called a miracle, but alas unclear and forgotten
The secrets and sufferings behind the curtains
The struggles for the new phases of faces
How the cogs of the mill chugs upon the flesh
sleepless nights for the dream
Empty stomachs just to save a dime
Long long walks away from home
I forsake the love of a family for it
It was like a trash beyond the debris of a torrent
Landed where it pleases, good or bad to be
This day I have the meaning......
Now, you shall define molecules to me
Now, I shall explain arts and meaning of poetry, if to recite this.

Lamptey Godson Kofi Poem
<< SACRED WORDS >>
SHE SUNG
The Dream Keeper
Bring me all of your dreams,
You dreamers,
Bring me all of yours
Heart melodies
That I may wrap them up
In a blue cloud-cloth
Away from the too-rough fingers Of the world.
I LAUGH:
Talk with me
Say no more a word,
I hear the stars sung it long before
Calling you out to be the Nightingale
Tending the needy heart, fallen in depth
Off not been a catered soul
The earth knows you, the world knows you
A Queen in the making.
