Me

If I never do anything in this life
Just let me be.

You Don'T Know Me

You don’t know me
So why do you stare?
What are you looking for?
Who do you see?
Why make me uncomfortable
When you don’t know me
I have come from a place
Where there’s bondage and pain
Called hitherto so here’s where I’ll remain
So don’t see me as foreign, an outcast, or lost
See me as you are because I’ve paid the cost
I paid to be here and I’ve paid to be free
So don’t stare so hard because you don’t know me
My beauty is not a façade
My image is real
For it’s the image of God
And he created me with Zeal
He was excited about me
He knew all that I would do
So I ask to what degree
Does my existence bother you?
There’s offense in your eyes
This much I can see
But it’s all unnecessary
Because you don’t know me
I am not here to be seen
Nor do I come to see
So forgive me as I remind you
That you don’t know me!
I’ve told you about my now
While reflecting on my then
Where I am and where I’ve been
In all of my explaining
Of who I am and what I be
What saddens me deeply is
You still don’t know me!

The Father Wants His Children Home

I died for all the nations, because I came to die
The father wants his children home again; in case you wonder why
Because of what the first Adam did, I, the last Adam had to come
Not just to save you from your sins but to make sure the Father's will is done
The Father wants his children home again, in case you wonder why
I came in the flesh, born to a woman and dwelt among you; just to die
And now all you appreciate is the day that you think I was born
Not reverencing that it was for you that I was beaten and my flesh torn
I love you so much that I paid the price, that you, yourself could not pay
I laid down my life before mortal men that you may live to say...
The Father sent his only son to die upon a cross
That I may make it home one day and my mortal soul be not lost.

My Mother

All the pain and grief is over
All the suffering’s in the pass
She is now at peace forever
Safely on her way home at last
She was a treasure on this earth
That made life seem worthwhile
Her heart was as big as the universe
And she had an even bigger smile
She’ll hold a spot deep in my heart
Until the sun no longer shines
Her memory shall live on forever
That wonderful Mother of Mine

A War Like No Other

The war that rages within
is what keeps me sound
The boom of my heart
like a grenade thrown in the enemies camp
The soaring of my soul
as a missile launched for our country's sake
The balance that ensues as I take a deep breath
reminds me of the peace treaty between this world and the next
I speak not of a war rived in anger
but of one that will bring us to acceptance
one that will cause us to admit
then when this war is over,
we shall conform

Failure Is Not Final

Failure is not final
it affords you a second chance

mistakes are not denials
most times the're just happen stance

so never give up on desires
your defeats are just trials

the heart never fails to inspire
for it knows that failure is not final

Deception

Everything I've ever wanted
I found in you
Everything I've ever needed
You supplied
You're my sun, my moon
The star that lights my night
You are the sweetness to sugar
The sparkle to diamonds
You are what make my world right
Your touch is like the caress of a soft summer breeze
Your presence like the visitation of the almighty Himself
Your eyes, your nose, your lips , your mouth
Are all the symbols of beauty
You are all that I'll ever need
And all that I'll ever want
And if you believe that
I'll tell you another one!

Catch My Flow

Catch my flow
my spiritual analogy
my emotional flowery
the rhythm that breeds in me
that create such pleasantry
catch my flow
the energy that sears
as I calibrate and change gears
a groove that tantalize
a beat you can't revise
catch my flow
as I swerve towards that space in time
that makes my beauty so sublime
a gracefulness so unsuppressed
it shows the world that I am blessed
catch my flow
as my movement bears witness
to a rhythm that's all my own
and my mind travel the distance
to that place in the unknown
catch my flow
to be what I am
and to know what I know
to have what I have
you've got to
catch my flow

A Car Once Driven

I've driven this car before
Long before the seats buckled
And the windows only stopped halfway
I remember the first time I put the key in the ignition
How easy it turned and how quiet the engine was
Then I shifted into gear and it was sheer ecstasy
I felt as if I was floating instead of rolling on wheels
But that was the first time I drove this car
Now the engine roars
And that's only when I can get it started
I shift into gear and it hesitates, and then jumps into motion
And instead of floating it now shakes me ferociously
I will never drive this car again
But that doesn't mean I won't ride.

You Can'T See Me

What one sees on the outside
does not reflect what's within
all the natural eye can see
is the color of my skin

You may not like my eyes
and think my nose and lips are big
you may even think my hair is nappy
and I should consider wearing a wig

But what you see on the outside
does not reflect what lies within
it's not your judgement that hurts me
but it's your ignorance that offends

Ignorant to the fact
that I am not what you see
the very essence of who I am
lives deep inside of me
