Castle In the Sky-Book 2

(Dedicated to ICP)

We’re all searching for direction
Upon these paths we roam
While trying to find instructions
That will lead us back to home

I have drifted on the oceans
Where a lot of men have drown
Until I heard the wisdom
Of 2 insane juggalo clowns

They spoke of the atrocities
That we live with everyday
I've heard them speak of the sickness
It seems will never go away

They talk about a lot of things
We've tried to hide in shame
They try to tell each one of us
That inside we’re all the same

They emerged from the inner city
From a place we call the hood
They rose out of the middle
Between life’s bad and good

Described a land called Shangri-La
As a castle in the sky
And a long remembered promise
They made to a butterfly

They told the world they’re wicked
So some won't understand
But everything’s now going
Just exactly as they planned

Life Is Not a Fairy Tale-Book 2

~Life Is Not a Fairy Tale~

I am finally beginning to realize
I have lived forever mesmerized
By keeping myself well disguised
And leaving my mind paralyzed

I had built my walls to hide behind
From you and me and all mankind
Somewhere deep inside my mind
Someplace no one else could find

I made the world a refrigerator
A constantly complaining procrastinator
I was also a hair-triggered detonator
Who became a social assassinator

Now I'm trying harder not to pout
So little by little I’m breaking out
Breaking out of my mental shell
Breaking out of my mental hell

I’m beginning to learn how to exhale
And put some wind into my sail
The time has come to tip the scale
For life is not a fairy tale

This poem says a lot to me today although I wrote it nearly 13 years ago. When my friend committed suicide on Nov 19, 1993, I began writing poetry shortly afterward. Bill suffered from depression and at times would not stay
in control of that. He went to the bar and got very drunk that night when Bill took his life, so that subject was always a question in my mind.
Would he be dead today if he hadn't gotten intoxicated that night?
This question had me looking a lot at my own life and this poem reflects that.
It is from the pages of my second book

Survive-Book 8

~Survive~

I want to tell you a story about a lady I knew
And some things in life she had to go through
Trying to survive in a world that can be cold
So I’m making sure that her Journey is told

As a child she grew up in a broken home
Spending most her youth feeling so alone
As a young teen she was sexually abused
Leaving her physically and mentally confused

Then she married a man at a very early age
From a different country so her mom was enraged
But they were in love so she didn’t really care
Not knowing in time this would be her nightmare

There were 3 children born into this family
They looked normal as far as the eye could see
Yet her husband began to constantly drink
Until his mind could no longer reasonably think

This became a daily ordeal that kept repeating
Then she eventually discovered he was cheating
But the alcohol made him show no remorse
So before long they separated and got a divorce

Soon her kids grew up and the grandchildren came
And it made her happy grandma was her new name
But at times her past made her depressed and sad
So some days were good and some days were bad

Then there came a day that I won’t ever forget
When a disease called cancer gave her a hard hit
She lost her job and everything that she owned
And her body felt like it was pummeled and stoned

Less than a year of this fight had taken its toll
But a light began shining from within her soul
For she found the strength of completely knowing
When this battle was over where she was going

Now all wars finally end and Shirley passed away
But lessons she gave us live in our hearts yet today
So I pass on this message she eternally planted
Be grateful for this life we each have been granted
************************************
My Mother-In-Law Shirley Cordova lost her battle with Cancer 6 years ago today on Nov 4, 2004. As I thought about her this morning, it really hit me just how much that woman helped us over the years she was still alive.
This is a poem I’d wrote dedicated to her memory. It is her life story and is included in my 8th book of poetry The Journey~Following Maps to Evermore.
She didn’t have an easy life yet fought for each precious breath until the last.
Shirley, We Love and Miss Ya BUT we also know you still visit us sometimes.
So I wanted to Thank You For Simply Being YOU- Jimmy

The Only Solution-Book 11

~The Only Solution~

It’s the only solution isn’t it amazing
Words transcribed by lightning emblazing
Etched upon stone that hangs on our tomb
When flowers no longer blossom and bloom

We shed divine spirit of faith for the flesh
Without weaving prophecies into the mesh
Divided our cultures definitions of belief
Across this world both above and beneath

Although the heavens constantly mothered
The truth still remains mortally undiscovered
And the time to learn our survival assignment
Lies in synchronization of universal alignment

The vibration of higher existence grows closer
The story starts over as this one finds closure
The new generation and their hardships become
Reminders of this one and how it grew numb
*****************************************
About This Poem:
Years ago when I first began writing poetry and exploring different levels of our existence, I was heavily influenced by Jim Morrison and The Doors.
It became an obsession about a year after my best friend of 22 years committed suicide and to be honest still catalyzes my mind today. I began writing a book about 6 months ago I’ve always wanted to do basically describing how The Journey began and some of the experiences through the years that changed my life. I’d always written notes and journals, so each year from 1993 on became a chapter detailing events that were truly miracles right in front of my eyes at times. The other day I was sitting with my wife talking about how rewinding all these things was kind of haunting me.
She made a comment that she believed my belief was being tested right now and told her that is how I truly felt lately. A little later something happened that basically gave me those signs that in the past always reassured me of just how real The Journey is.
Then while prepping to write a little in the new book,I thought I’d play a few Doors songs for inspiration. When the song Shamans Blues ended, the last line you hear Morrison say is
“It’s the only solution, isn’t it amazing”
I stopped the music and let that line sort of echo in my mind for a moment. Suddenly I start hearing words and started writing. In the next few moments I’d wrote these words so fast that I didn’t know for sure what I’d written. That’s how it would happen in the past. If I had any doubts in the ability of belief I’ve been offered whenever I need it, I don’t anymore.
May the Light of Shangri~La Shine on this Existence.
Peace~

The Cost-Book 4

~The Cost~

I wrote this poem to represent the sons and daughters
All the relatives, the Mothers and all of the Fathers
For a girl named Carlie who was found yesterday
I wrote this story so her memory never fades away

In this existence where the animal's a common man
The way we hurt each other is so hard to understand
I'm not a people person but I felt my heart break
And I’ll shed an endless tear for this child’s sake

By watching all these stories play their daily renditions
My sorrow turns to anger for our children’s conditions
Across our TV’s and newspapers is a constant reminder
How do we not see that we’re slowly growing blinder

We’ve placed far too many children in a wooden box
For every second that is turning upon the clock
Can I ever say for sure if we’ll ever find the cure
That will make all of our morals once again pure

Who knows why our civilization is so destructive
Among compassionate times we’ve been constructive
But we must conquer this war for those already lost
For these children like Carlie who become the cost

Second Guessing-Book 9

~Second Guessing~

I use words to keep you second guessing
To remind us all this life is a blessing
Taking the morals most have left behind
And reinserting them back into your mind

See the facts of this life we once believed
I retrace for any who may wish to receive
To break the barriers centuries have built
Before all existence starts to die and wilt

The funny thing is I’m not a man of religion
And most all that I write is my own opinion
Delivered from the spectacles before my eyes
Separated from hypocrisy and historical lies

I’m not saying all that’s written is wrong
From America to Russia, Iraq or Hong Kong
Christianity, Mormon, Muslim or Buddhism
They all say the same thing if you twist them

At the core of what ignites our mental thought
Still planted past knowledge that we’re taught
There’s a power beyond any life on this Earth
That delivered you from the gardens of birth

His Son-Book 3

~His Son~

Someone once asked a friend of mine
If she had an answer that would define
Where it is that Jesus came from
And how do we know he was Gods son

She asked if I could help her out
And erase all of this child’s doubt
Is there some way to show any proof
And shed new light upon the truth

I gave this question a lot of thought
Pondering all that we’ve been taught
When all of a sudden it came to me
I could explain this inquiry so easily

Since the beginning of mankind’s creation
We so often failed our tests of temptation
That God sent a special chosen son
To try and find out what was going on

But from the first day of his sons arrival
The population still expressed denial
He grew up trying to spread the word
Yet so many found his beliefs absurd

The believers began to be convicted
Soon all of his followers were evicted
And because we feared all his conceptions
They found him guilty of deceptions

He was beaten and nailed upon a cross
But his messages never did get lost
Because his wisdom did not go away
Some still believe in it faithfully today

So if it’s been said we’re all Gods kids
Then the answer to this question is
That if God is the father of everyone
Then Jesus too would have been his son
**********************************
A dear friend wrote me explaining she had received a letter from someone asking how she knew for a fact that Jesus was Gods son.
She was not sure how to answer this question so she asked me if I could help her out. I created this poem the following day as my answer. No one knows what can only be trusted to faith and belief, for that depends solely on your mental state and how you've separated the illusion from the reality.
So how do we know Jesus was Gods son…
I hope this poem answers that question for you also. :-)

A Little Message-Book 3

A Little Message

I have listened to the stories of your misery
While existing in the realms of this epidemy
Living behind shadows that you keep concealed
So you're constantly reminded of the pain you feel

Have people disrespected you behind your back
Are you constantly subjected to their verbal attacks
Does no one understand you when you're at home
Do you feel you're confused and completely alone

If you've never had no one you could call a friend
Well then here's a little message I want to send
Please don't let this world change a solitary thing
Or tarnish any gifts that your spirit has to bring

You may never fit in molds of the majority
So be proud you always kept your individuality
I wrote this poem for anyone that's felt like you
So you know I understand the world we view
(Book 3 ©1997 "The Journey At the Crossroads")
Thank You...For Simply being YOU. :-)

The Trees-Book 1

~The Trees~

When water stopped running
In the tiny empty river
The trees along its borders
All began to quiver

For without the flowing water
These trees could not grow
Where are the crystal waters
That once used to flow

Was the futures intent
For them to have died
Were there any among us
Who at least stood and cried

Did their death have a purpose
That is part of a plan
A message from nature
Directed towards man

But when rain started falling
Where the old trees once grew
This began a cycle
That started life all new

For out of the virgin earth
Young trees are now sprouting
Screaming life never ends
That's what I hear them shouting
***********************************
This was always one of my favorites from the first book.
I like how the reflections of nature combine with such a powerful message. And then the way it develops into its ultimate ending was something that had really impressed me at the time of writing it. I thought how it structures the promise of never ending life was amazing.
Picture a mountainside that has burned to a blackened and barren landscape.
If you were to view that same area 10-12 years later,
You’d understand the earth’s rejuvenation ability.
Now think of your life in the same exact way. :-)

Mysterious Quirks-Book 9

~Mysterious Quirks~

Come enter my mind and take a little tour
So we figure out why life smells like manure
Come on take a seat and then strap yourself in
Hang on tight and let The Journey now begin

Look over here and see the child with a tear
Afraid of their own parents anytime they’re near
But upon becoming older and growing sick of that
They beat them both severely with a baseball bat

Now over there’s a woman with a blank stare
She doesn’t say a word and better not dare
Her husbands abusive and leaves her battered
Until she pulls a gun and his control is shattered

Did you notice the child who didn’t seem wild
But never displayed a grin or even smiled
They were picked on in school nearly all of their life
Then they walked down the hallway with a long knife

We could go on and on but our time is gone
To see more look past your front yard lawn
They say for every action there is a recourse
We each make mistakes but do we feel remorse

Hey did you notice everything we saw today
Came back like a wheel in some sort of way
Remember life has its mysterious quirks
And no one knows exactly how it works
(Book 9 ©2009 "The Journey Back to the Beginning")

I could go on and on but our time is gone. :-)
