Angels

I live where angels fear to walk
Don’t ask questions, no one’s gonna talk
Another kid’s innocence is being take
Their thirst for blood will never slacken
Love is something only found in a fairytale
But those don’t comfort, when home is spelled H E L L
Left alone for days on end
Nothing else to do but play pretend
Trying to get lost in a dream
But when that doesn’t help, all you can do is scream
I’ve called the devil by his first name
His eyes are cold, mine are the same
I live where angels fear to tread
By the time you find me, I’ll probably be dead

Bleeding Out

She's holding in her hand
The only thing she can feel
Growing so weak she can barely stand
She chooses instead to kneel
To a forgotten God she prays
This pain is more than I can bear
Have mercy; please take the rest of my days
To the mirror, she turns to stare
Into eyes more than half dead
A girl without hope
There was no one to take the pain in her stead
No one to help her cope
As she makes the final cut
The blood drips on the floor
Her eyes forever shut
As she journeys to Heaven's door

Haiku 2

Wherever I am
Your breath on my neck
Feels like home

Happy Haiku

Moonlight all around us
But inside
There is only sunshine

Mother

You’ve been in my life from the start
Even though at times we’ve had to part
And it may not always be shown or heard
But when I mention love, it’s not just a word
It’s a million memories, probably more
A soft touch, a slammed door
It’s a quickly regretted fight
And thinking up an apology all that night
It’s the first hint of a proud smile
That makes the struggle worth the while
It’s a river, an ocean of shed tears
As you’ve helped me conquer my fears
It’s being grown and still holding your hand
Because you’re the one who gives me strength to stand
It’s knowing how to carry on once I’m grown
Because of all the love you’ve shown
And still needing you in my life
To help me make sense of all the strife

Cause and Effect

An ice cold glare
From across the room
A pointed stare
An impending sense of doom
It wouldn't have taken long
To see what was wrong
But the reason why she hides to weep
Goes further than just belly deep
just one call
A conversation overheard
Caused silence to fall
But for the repetition of one word
Walking home from the park
On a night all too dark
Passing an alley, a man
With a devastating plan
Forced down on the ground
Mouth covered in tape
Struggling to make a sound
To cry 'rape'
Now every day at school
She sees first hand how children can be cruel
Placing bets on when it shows
On when she'll have to wear baggy clothes

Escape

Don't judge me until you've walked a mile in my shoes
Because these things don't just happen on the news
Going hungry and getting hit
Soul wearing down bit by bit
Angry hands raining down
I take it all without a sound
He beats me senseless
Doesn't even care that I'm defenseless
He lets men have me for a price
Tells me to smile and act nice
Be a dutiful daughter
Never let your emotions falter
I finally escape
Try not to think about the rape
I search all around
But God's nowhere to be found
I look forward to death
The moment I draw my final breath
I don't care about everlasting peace
I just want that final release

Cut

A silver kiss
A crimson tear
A silent sigh
A hidden tear

A Night of Change

You shoved me down,
I couldn't make a sound.
Irrevocably changed my life,
when to my throat, you held a knife.
Harsh words in my ear,
about to pass out from fear.
My breath flying in and out,
not even enough air to shout.
I never thought it could be like this,
"You're gonna love this" you hiss.
I close my eyes,
part of me dies.
All around are flashing lights,
just a prelude to the sleepless nights.
Why can't they see?
Don't they know they're too late to save me?
Sympathetic looks, fake smiles,
painful questions that go on for miles.
Sayin' "It'll be over soon" like it's something they're tryin' to sell,
Yeah right, I already know it's gonna be hell.

The Lights Go Out

There is a time
When the lights go out
The silk comes out
And you dance to a song as old as rhyme
