Njiba Kasonga Poem
I almost came close to believing that i knew him.,
yet there was more in him than i could have imagined.
We did the Hi's and the goodbyes,
yet there was a dark side in him.
It was his past.
"I fell in love with her" he said.
"Then out of the blue one day, she said she didn't love me back."
The halls were empty and they seemed to stare at us because it was
just the two of us. Unless you want to count the lockers.
There was a moment of silence.
A pause.
Before I had the chance to recap my thoughts he said,
"And then one day i shot her"
His face had no expression.
His soul seemed harder than a rock.
At the same moment ,
the earth seemed to have stopped moving
for the temperature of my heart was below zero

Njiba Kasonga Poem
I want to be one less
You call emotionless
For this heart of mine is like a seed
Waiting on a drop of water to be fertilized.
I want to be one less
You call emotionless
For my quest from east to west has been fearless.
Fearless, but maybe somewhat detached to emotions
Detached only because,
My eyes have seen the unseen and shed its share of tears.
My ears have heard the unthinkable and wished they weren’t ears.
My body, mind, and soul have ached in ways it can no longer bear.
I have endured pain, anger, betrayals, lost, and have seen glimpses of happiness here and
there.
Too many emotions in one, and I have become undemonstrative.
But somehow despite this broken heart of mine,
I’ve made it this far through this journey call life and all I ask of you is to
Love me just the way I am
And you will see that I am far from being emotionless

Njiba Kasonga Poem
Born in Ivory Coast
but never would I boast.
Raised in the Democratic Republic of Congo
playing the bongos, but couldn’t make it my logo.
On a quest from east to west,
I made Cameroon my nest.
But the traveler in me took me to Paris
only to find out it was only a transit, just like my x Harris.
Now I find myself in the United States
the land of many states.
Taking a rest for now, but the journey is far from over.
As I sit and ponder
If it’s safe to cross the border
I realize all things prior,
I am an African warrior.
My attitude is of a fighter
always chasing what matters.
For success is not an option
but rather an obligation.
I stay strong in my convictions,
For God leads me despite the trials and tribulations.
I am the seed of the mother land.
Africa, oh beautiful land!
I am your warrior, and this I shall be until the end.

Njiba Kasonga Poem
I am an evolver.
The only thing that remains constant in life is change.
Therefore I evolve as change takes place.
When the sun comes out,
I put on my sandals.
When the rain pours in,
I wear my rain boots.
When the leaves begin to fall,
I wear my long sleeves shirts.
And when the snow finally comes,
There I go evolving.
I am an evolver in my dreams, my goals, my passions, and my priorities.
They constantly change day by day.
I once wanted to be a dancer,
But then it changed to being a doctor.
And now, I am soul searching.
Only God knows where I will end up.
But even through change, God has remained the same.
I am an evolver,
And he is my redeemer.

Njiba Kasonga Poem
Some believe in the Big Bang Theory,
but who created the bang?
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Reminds me of the shots I heard during the war.
But this time it created by far
a greater effect, leaving proof.
Here I thought I was bullet proof,
but I vanished like vapor, poof!
Some wanted to collect the broken pieces
but the bond we shared wasn't fair.
For they were my concept
and I, their conception.
Which lead to no reproduction.
Seems like this is a rough draft, a rough path
or more like starting from scratch.
Bang!
Just one shot but left with a million scars.
Wish the bullet was aimed at my heart.
At least then it would be internal bleeding.
It's unfortunate that my face was at stake
cause despite the make-up
there goes your bullet proof

Njiba Kasonga Poem
Get closer,
and let me never let go of thee.
Get closer,
and touch me once more.
Get closer,
and let me kiss thee.
Get closer,
and let me smell thee.
Get closer,
and let me love thee.
Get closer,
and let thy touch,
thy kiss,
thy scent, and
thy love
always be near me.
Get closer,
for thou hast inspired me to live again.
Get closer,
and please don't let go.

Njiba Kasonga Poem
Hold me tight
close to thee,
that I may feel
thou warmth on this holy night.
Hold me tight
close to thee,
that I may know
your power and might.
Hold me tight
close to thee,
for on this one night
the stars are shining bright.
Hold me tight
close to thee,
that I may share this light
beautifull in my sight.
Hold me tight
close to thee,
for on this one night
I have embraced Jesus Christ

Njiba Kasonga Poem
these two elements earth and water
polar opposites
but they come together every blue moon
to Create more poetry while molding like pottery
well more like pottery inspiring poetry
when artist hands meets clay
and causes contortions like cirque du soleil
A simple art to the makers but beauty in the eyes of mankind
The passionate synthesis of life and creation
Which embodies a certain aura
they almost get lost in the allure of the experience
The lump of clay conceals a purposeful beauty
the potter works tirelessly to release
fingers meet earthy canvas
and removes tension like atlas
till only the heavens remain
A collaboration of Njiba & Sipho

Njiba Kasonga Poem
Like a star in Hollywood
I never thought I would
watch you like a TV screen
yet it makes me wanna scream.
So close, yet so far.
Makes me wanna raise the volume bar
only to get drunk as if I sat at a bar.
No, not just temporarily drunk
but addicted to you like a pill.
I would swallow you with passion.
Slowly, but precisely timed like a slam dunk.
One pill a day is what the prescription says
but you're too good I must say.
My diagnostic says I took an overdose
but I thought I was just getting started.
Who knew one pill could get me so high.
I think I almost touched the sky.
I am living on cloud 9
with no worries of what tomorrow holds.
It's sad that you're not over-the-counter
because ever since our encounter
I've seen you as my medicine,
making me happy and bold.
It's unfortunate however,
that like a star in Hollywood
I can only watch you on a TV screen
and hope one day I can make you mine.
But until then,
one pill at a time it is.

Njiba Kasonga Poem
Well, God, I'll tell you:
Life for me has been a roller coaster.
It's had its ups in it,
and its downs,
the joys,
and places beneath the valleys-
A roller coaster.
But for the most part,
it's you that keeps me going.
Going for the top,
reaching for the stars,
hoping to make you proud.
Though life has been a roller coaster,
you've always been there to see me through.
Inspired by Langston Hughes poem Mother to son.
