Lifeline

It’s a funny thing.
Has a connotation of pain and hate.
To me:
Its survival. It’s all I have.
If I lose it- I die.
If I see it, if I feel it- I live.
So far its been pain and only that
I wait for my chance
Until then, I live off of it.
My blood.

Truth and Justice

Veritas = VAIR-ee-taws
Aequitas = EK-wee-taws

I recently watched the Boondock Saints, and their speech at the Courtroom wrote this poem
for me

Truth
Justice
Veritas
Et Aequitas
Two principles which every one lives by

Now do not kill, do not rape, do not steal
All men and faiths
Can agree
Never
Sin

Evil
Beckons
Those of us
Who do not know
So shepherds we shall be, for thee my Lord

Do not corrupt yourself, for I shall come
If you ignore
My warning
And you
Fall

Dear Diary

Dear Diary,

Here's a story for you,
One that holds my words so true,
Life today is so brand new,
It's hard to know what to do.

Life is filled with drugs, guns, and alcohol,
With movies, sports, and games where all we do is brawl,
We're constantly plugged into a wall,
From before sunrise to after nightfall.

But who am I to say these things,
I have those same cravings,
I sit inside my dwellings,
Ignoring all those bad feelings.

So I'll change a bit everyday,
To avoid the ordeal of another pompeii,
So in this world, I will stay,
But my idea of hope will never sway.

Dear Diary,

These words that I now write,
Make me strong, make me fight,
I will do what I find right,
As I rethink my life tonight.

Only the Strong Can Cry

They say men should never cry,
Luckily, to me you are not a man,
You are just doing all you can,
There is no need for you to lie.

They say men should never cry,
Thinking back to when it all began,
When I needed help you never ran,
Now it's my turn to help you get by.

So all I say is if you need to cry,
Don't hesitate to show tears,
Don't hold back all of your fears,
I will be there, you are not just any guy.

So all I say is if you need to cry,
Stay strong in front of your peers,
But I will be there for the rest of my years,
I will listen and care until the day I die.

A Kaleidoscope

A kaleidoscope, a mixture of colors and light
So hard to describe so hard to write
Just like a life just like mine
Here is mine my time to shine

The colors change just like time
A life goes on to hit its prime
No matter what it keeps on changing
Just like life keeps on arranging

My story begins at age six
When life was suddenly no easy fix
The Kaleidoscope began to turn
And its center began to churn

My father left our family home
He left alone to go and roam
Suddenly the Kaleidoscope went dark
Even now it’s left its mark

It remained unturned for about two years
And the movement became quite severe
My Mother moved away from home
To improve her new teaching career

The shades of blue came into play
As most of my family had passed away
My mother was strong and held my hand
Even though nothing had gone as planned

My family will always be in my heart
Those small blue beads will play their part
At that time I was almost nine
I pretended that I was just fine

The colors changed from blue to red
I went on with almost no dread
At age eleven I moved once more
I moved again to the California core

I spent the next year in shades of green
All the kids were just too mean
I went to Junior and then Senior High
Then it was time to say goodbye

The Kaleidoscope turned and made a painting
My life became very entertaining
That’s when I met you for the first time
My hope and happiness began to climb

But My Father turned my Kaleidoscope for me
And I asked and cried my pitiful plea
On the weekends the kaleidoscope turns black
With nothing there to change it back

There are ups and downs, lights and darks
With many blond moments and smart remarks
My life will always be turning fast
Even so I have time to look back at my past

If I remember one thing it is that
My life was nothing like combat
But I still fought wars of my own
Without them my world would still be unknown

There is nothing quite like a kaleidoscope
It’s a symbol of change and hope
I like to think my life is like this
So look back and reminisce

Look back at your thoughts and dreams
But remember nothing is as it seems
The Kaleidoscope will turn to show your past
What was boring and what was a blast

Mine shows everything you’ve done for me
You showed me how fun life can be
You made my life what it is now
To this day I still wonder how

Thank you for turning my Kaleidoscope
And giving me strength and the power to cope
You made my life a beautiful rainbow
You deserve more than you will ever know

Looking Death In the Face

Looking Him straight in the face,
I wait for his choice,
To take me or to leave me,
I have no voice,

I wait for his choice,
For better or for worse,
I have no voice,
I will accept His answer,

For better or for worse,
To take me or to leave me,
I will accept His answer,
Looking Him straight in the face.

Waiting For You Brings Up Memories (Part 2)

Here's the second part to my Crown of Sonnets.

It was not over - I knew it,
The scene at the movies - I'll omit,
After that - all was bright,
I knew I loved you - you were my light,
But I did not know - if I would fit,
You did not need - me the misfit,
But I was not ready - to give up the fight,
Still I made sure - that was alright,
Because of this - I refuse to quit,
My heart's the treasure - you're the bandit,
You had my life - at first sight,
This is why - it's so hard to write,
I cannot put - this onto paper,
And tell the story - to the reader.

And tell the story - to the reader.
I've tried my best - without censor,
To to tell what's happened - when, and why,
Well, all the things - that truly apply,
Through all my poems - you get a glimmer,
Of all the sweet - that destroyed the bitter,
Even so - I would never deny,
That some of this - made me cry,
But through this - I am stronger,
I can fight - for you longer,
It is not time - to say goodbye,
I will never say it - until I die,
This is for you - this is for me,
This is for what - we were supposed to be.

This is for what - we were supposed to be.
It may seem - a little corny,
I cant stop - thinking about this,
Right after - we shared our first kiss,
You were strong - yet goofy,
Your silly jokes - made me happy,
I knew right then - this was bliss,
It was too good - to just dismiss,
Seeing you daily - texting you nightly,
Made me feel - unusually wonderfully,
It's times like those - that I miss,
So all I do - is sit back and remiss,
They say smile - because it happened,
I will because - our bond's deepened.

I will because - our bond's deepened.
I don't know - for what I'm destined,
All I know is - I'll do what I can,
To follow His - special plan,
I will not cry - because it's ruined,
I will walk through - the doors we opened,
Stretching out - my entire wingspan,
You're more than just - any ol' man,
Against the rocks - on the mainland,
You were thrown - and soon toughened,
A tool of God - a small chessman,
You never hid - you never ran,
It's sad but you know - what you must do,
I sit in my room - waiting for you.

The Storm

Two haikus written during a storm

The rain drops quickly
Pouring over everything
Thundering all night

The storm continues
Preparing for brand new life
Falling down to us

My Mama

My mother is a beautiful woman,
She always holds her head up high,
Even when she is about to cry,
Her strength and beauty is all I see,

She always holds her head up high,
Working so hard to help us get by,
Her strength and beauty is all I see,
I can't explain what she means to me,

Working so hard to help us get by,
Even when she is about to cry,
I can't explain what she means to me,
My mother is a beautiful woman.

V alue the joys and even the tears,
E very second counts.
