A Poem For the 'Beautiful Builder' At the The Ricoh Arena

She looked really impressive
Small; and full of pride
A nonchalant gait, but sophisticate
Her work mates by her side.

It felt like she'd built it all herself
Her hard hat firmly in place
With a confident stare in the medias glare
an emancipated face.

I wanted to get to know her
I wanted to shake her hand
I wanted to say in my own private way
'Will you take me to my stand ?'

But as the sun shone through the vomitary
something made me upset
Her charms I decline
She'll never be mine
She was smoking a cigarette !

Rasta Ring N Ride

Rasta ringnride
Hop up; get inside
Travel roun da town
Hear some funky sound
Me bus me pride an joy
Me music don't annoy
Me keep it in me head
Me sings it in me bed.

I travel all roun town
To ferry sick and lame
The people phone,
I pick them up
No other bus the same.

I drive me bus for Africa
When I'm in Sollihull
I drive me bus for freedom;
me bus in wondeful !

Heroes

Henry Normal is very informal
When he reads his poetry
Robbie Caltrane looks almost insane
When he apears on the TV
Bruce Forsythe has a very nice wife;
Well he's had quite a few you know
And Roger McGough was once known to cough
On a live broadcast TV show

A.A Milne may have owned a kilne
In which he mad pottery Poohs
Billy Bragg was once called a slag
By someone in blue suede shoes
Ben Elton ate a hot cross bun
And he isn't religious you know
And Roger Mcgough was once known to cough
On a live broadcast TV show.

Alan Bennett could run for the sennett
and write all the speaches much beter
Jonathan price doesn't need my advice
So I won't even write me a letter
Stephen Fry is so nice I could cry
And Hugh Laurie has a readybreak glow
And Roger McGough was once known to cough
On a live broadcast TV show

Horse Lover

I'm in love with a pantomime horse
In my mind it wo'nt go away
Over jumps or on a flat course
I grow more in love everyday

I can see when it raises its' lips
Its' smiling and laughing white teeth
And I know, with a flick of its' hips
It will show me its' zip underneath

In Coventry Cathedral

In the Cathedral ruins

The ghosts seem friendly

Pigeons homely, air sweet

Clouds white with a hint of rain

The drops fall on the roofless relic

Like the ancient bombs

Failings of us all

Trying not to be religious

Humanity should think of itself

A bee gathers honeysuckle

People can love
