Tears Too Bold

I cannot help but marvel
At the strength this small boy knows
In the crevices of his safest place
A heavy evil grows
At black when babe doth close his eyes
To what does his grimace pertain?
When other boys drift off to sleep
Does he cry awake in pain?
Dreams call out in sweet and soft
But dark hands tighten their hold
Refreshing reminders on frail dear's arms
And once more; wet tears too bold.

Te Iubesc

The words I want to write
They are his
Te iubesc
They are mine
The words I want to write.
Only he can say them
Te iubesc
Only she can hear them
The words I want to write.
Beautiful; they are his
Te iubesc
Beautiful; she is yours
The words I want to write.
What is average to many
Te iubesc
What is extraordinary to she
The words I want to write.
Young, but she's not naïve
Te iubesc
Young, but still he can see
The words I want to write.
Not just people 'like' her
Te iubesc
He wants to protect her, and
The words I want to write.
Because he loves her
Te iubesc
Because she loves him, are
The words I want to write.

Purpose Unclear

I saw the tears flowing
Liberally down her cheeks
She went through the motions
But her eyes did not speak

My place in this waning
The purpose unclear
These sights see me backwards
I feel guardianship near

On the edge of a horror
I also feel light
A spark in the ebony
Some truth in the night

I trust who I trust
I cannot say more
I feel something greater
How to open the door?

Beneath the surface it lingers
Begging to be found
My footholds unsteady
I can't walk on this ground.

To see things so backwards
So introverted and wrong
Can't process what I'm seeing
Will these visions last long?

Fight On

Fight on my daughter
Fight on my son
Reap the rewards
For what your elders hath done

Believe in your country
Your loyalties profound
Run deep does your allegiance
Undying adherence doth confound

Fight on my daughter
Fight on my son
Reap the rewards
For what your alliance hath done

Wavering fidelity
Is not a true American make
For in time we must all pay homage
To those who stand strong, and yet opaque

Fight on my daughter
Fight on my son
Reap the rewards
For what your brothers hath done

Unique from any other
This country's integrity runs clear
From the brazen Oklahoma skies
To the Appalachian mountaintops view clear

Fight on my daughter
Fight on my son
Reap the rewards
For what your soldiers hath done

Every snowflake that drifts onto our soil
Every wave that crashes down
Every soldier that goes off to fight our fight
They come, then go without a sound

Fight on my daughter
Fight on my son
Reap the rewards
For what the unseen hath done

A Bargain To Sell

I lay here in this bed
Watching the IV drip lazily
I grip the bedrail
For I have nothing more to grasp
Not a hand, not a bear
Not a gift, not a flower
Nay, not even a lock of hair
My last fell deftly onto my pillow
Early this morning
The last of my childhood
The last of my livelihood
The last that reminds me, of good
And I watch the Iv
Drip, drip, drip
For as this world, this place
Somewhere caught in between.
An everlasting tussle,
Between the powers that be
And Hades
So I hold on good
Onto that bedrail
And just then I don’t believe
I shall ever let go
Through the pain and the treatment
I hold on
Knowing that is but the only thing
Keeping me here
The tears and the grieving
But I’m grieving alone
For my life
Lost completely
Drained from its shell
I do not look
I cannot look
I will only see the difference
What I was
What I am
What cannot be, I’ll never tell
So I hold on good
Alone in this room
Just months ago
A little girl
Now I’m dying
A woman
Still dying, A woman
This soul is a bargain to sell

Word Art

Words are my art
My power, my life
And if used in such fashion
Twice as sharp as a knife

Always aware of my passion
My true talent and meaning
One person polished it bright
Brought out strong by one being

To him I'll always be grateful
Though I doubt he's aware
We were closer than close once
But severed the bond that we shared

Redefined did we
That lost meaning of love
For a time did he
Protect all the above

For once I was not the strong one
Everything hard did not fall to me
The most agonizing thing I've ever done
Was leaving him, for loving him, and protecting he

Introverted

Where I am I cannot tell you
Who they are I can't apprise
Do not look for me this evening
For Fear's formidable in my eyes.

My dialogue ambiguous
But I have hitherto lie
Even in my vaguest of dialect
You must sense my hands are tied.

These behemoths will not harm me
These deplorable creatures with no face
Leave for now if you don't believe me
But my written vociferation you can't displace.

Forgetting I've made impossible
You feel helpless do you not?
You did not want me anyhow
They've left me here unsought

I must be getting back now
To the life you've condemned me to lead
But I must tell you, it enthralls me
To envisage you languishing for your greed.

Eve Dawn Breaking

The dawn is breaking
The eve is dawning
Escaping dark this evening
Now truth; dark is sleeping
Truth is key is leaving
Key to my heart, buried in his weavings
Weave dark does, crafting his lies
Light lies in discovering my oldest allies
But the weight I carry cannot be lightened
Waiting on nightfall, my senses are heightened
To make it out alive and whole
Or wholly separate body and soul
This place is poison, slowly killing
Escape or not, new places come chilling
Chilling thoughts come of my new destination
Heaven thought I, for there's no sin in preservation
Sin in the staying, curling tightly within
Within me hides coward, afraid of the dark
Deeper than deep down, it's dark in my heart.

Here In Arlington

My soul lies here in Arlington
My vessel 'neath grass green grow
My soul lies here in Arlington
Please let my family know.

Your son lies here in Arlington
You walk past him day by day
Your son lies here in Arlington
'Unknown Soldier' his stone doth say.

Her love lies here in Arlington
Her hopes must soar so high
Her love lies here in Arlington
Buried or not; he's in the sky.

His Dad lies here in Arlington
His eyes grow wet with tears
His Dad lies here in Arlington
This stone confirms his fears.

My soul lies here in Arlington
My vessel 'neath grass green grow
My soul lies here in Arlington
Please let my family know.

Unstoppable

Deep in though,
	My fingers lace
Even in memory
	I feel your grace
I close my eyes
	I see your face
Protect me from
	Peril I face
They cannot see
	All that you gave
Contrary they feel
	You’ve marked my grave
The only princess
	Refusing to be saved
Their flawed concerns,
	I airily wave
The more I’m here
	The more I love
Yes, we fly high,
	Like a confident dove
We, on display
	Like bright stars above
They inspect every detail,
Try to find fault with our love.
Together we stand, hand in hand,
	Indivisible
Our strong connecting bond
	Unbelievable
Such a relationship as ours
	Improbable
We, together, always,
	Unstoppable
