Numb Soul

NUMB SOUL

Did u hear me die yesterday?
Though the fire did not crackle on the pyre,
Nor was there any smoke!
But there was a deafening silence
Which shattered the soul,
And all because you caused it pain.
Pain deeper than the ocean,
Pain that could not be measured,
Pain that numbed the soul!
But how could you hear the sound of pain?
You were busy with your thoughts,
Thoughts that glorified your deeds,
And magnified your sacrifices!
You had no time!
To appreciate the rising sun or a rose that bloomed on your path
You had no time to listen to the sound of silence.
You did not notice the dying of a soul,
For you the living body and the caged soul were but the same!
You could not see or feel the cold feet of approaching death towards me!
Though we shared our room and hearth.
And everytime you looked at me with contempt a part of me slowly died.
There was no smoke or fire but everytime a part of me died and there was an eerie silence between us.
If only you had noticed the calm, all that remained unsaid and unheard would have found a patient listener.
The heart which was heavy
Would have fluttered again like a sparrow or a robin!
But, you had no time my dear,
Time enslaved you and you remained silent!
Silence is golden..
And thus you valued it more than my words or pain!
