Memories Never Die

All I want to know is why
Was it because of the names?
The words that made you cry
It made you want to give it all away
That it's better to have no life than to go one more day
Was it because of fear?
Thinking that no thought is clear
The feeling of not knowing everyday
Didn't you know that I feel the same way?
Did you really believe in this madness?
Just to get away from the sadness
You just decided to give up the fight
You couldn't try to make it through one more night
I thought we were supposed to stick together
Best friends forever
Was this somehow to be our fate
Was I just a heartbeat too late?
Now even after you let you spirit fly
To me your memory will never die.

Listen

you promised me that you would be there,
Where were you?
Where were you when I needed a friend?
Did you even care?
What happened to our friendship?
What happened to the friend that I knew and could trust?
Can you not see that?
You've changed into someone else
Are you ever going to be the same?
You tell me that you hate everything about your life
Is your life really that bad?
What if you had to walk a mile in another's shoes?
Would you walk the mile or be left behind?
You take out your anger and frustration on everyone else
Who is to blame?
Often you walk by without looking up from the ground
Is giving a second glance that much of a bother?
I'm trying to tell you that I'm still here, that I'm still your friend
You stopped but then kept on walking
Do you hear me; are you even going to listen?

The Price

You left that night not knowing the outcome
After going to a party you wouldn't be home from
You had a few drinks what was I to say
Who knew you where throwing your life away
You got in your car and started to drive away
What a way to spend your last day
I got a call saying something was wrong
Your heartbeat faint, your pulse almost gone
The doctor came and said there was nothing they could do
They tried hard but he didn't pull through
There's a cross now to silently tell the story
As that day's memories fade into history
Your name in a book of deaths for that year
I'm sure everyone knows that name written with a tear
The price we had to pay was much too high
Maybe if you knew the cost you wouldn't of had to die
You could have taught me so much if you were still alive
Though you still taught me to not drink and drive

Unhappy Endings

Alone standing in a crowd
Screaming without being heard
Fighting for the strength to breath
Time is just an empty promise

Memories echo through forgotten rooms
An empty house that no one remembers was even there
Iron fences locking the ghosts in
It’s time for me to go home

The sky opens to spill the tears of angels
The earth groans at the searing light from heaven
Illuminate my way, even if it’s only a second
How did it ever come to this?

Drowning in a sea of thoughts
Life is all just one unanswered question
People walk into hazy memories
Its time for me to leave

To many dreams have no meaning
To much time to spare
To much hopeless wandering
To many unhappy endings

Amber

Snowflakes fall on your upturned face.
Has it really been that long?
I hope you know that I haven’t forgotten
Haunting images of happiness burned into my mind
Constant reminders of what was and what could have been
Someday, maybe we shall be together again
Partners in crime as one would say
Curse the fate that tore us apart
Such a long time ago, yet it seems like yesterday
Stars shine through the cobalt blue of the midnight sky
Tears reflect their light as they fall from ice blue eyes
Beautiful images dance in the wind, beautiful memories
Words rise away from their paper, too powerful to be kept confined
Your image starts to fade away…no this cannot be a dream
Can you still hear me, please say something.
No matter what happens always remember these words
Never change who you are, you mean the world to me
My best friend, my sister, my hero, my Amber
