Maria Elena Enriquez Poem
My Friend
Friendship
Is something you make
And do not take
Friendship
Is something you give
In order to live
Friendship
Is something you need
To learn and succeed
Friendship
Is something so strong
That it can’t go wrong
Friendship
Is something between you and me
So solid that it will always be
So my friend
This is why I say
Even in the toughest times
My friendship will stay
Because a friend like you
I will not find
Even if I live
A hundred times

Maria Elena Enriquez Poem
Nurse, Nurse I have an owie
I don’t’ know what to do
Because it’s getting soggy
Please tell me that you do
Nurse, Nurse I think I have a coco
I tell you, man it hurts
I feel it’s driving me darn loco
Although it comes in spurts
Nurse, Nurse I think I sprained my pinky
My pencil fell and as I leaned
I smelled myself a little stinky
But help me please and I promise I’ll get cleaned
Nurse, Nurse I think I hit my head
As I stood up my brain was spinning
And I felt a bump and feel I’m dead
Help me please I want to play 9 innings
Nurse, Nurse I feel a little down
They said they didn’t like me
They’re making ugly sounds
Please tell them, they need to let me be
Nurse, Nurse I’m back at school today
You made me feel much better
I want to work and play
But most of all, to tell you, you made a difference!

Maria Elena Enriquez Poem
Para mi Estudiante
Si por mí fuera
En mis brazos lo trajera
Para que siempre
Amado se sintiera
No es egoísmo
Respetar a un ser querido
No es hipocresía
Decirle que mi cariño tenía
Lo voy a extrañar
Cuando a mi salón entrar
¿Sabe lo que yo sentía?
El amar como una madre quería
No falle en aplicarse
Siempre trate de esforzarse
Ponga sus estudios primero
Y siempre sea sincero
Y antes de retirarse
Le pido que deje respetarse
Y siga con ambición
Siempre la educación
Cariñosamente

Maria Elena Enriquez Poem
La Frontera
Nacida en la frontera
Y criada aquí también
Yo se que no hay manera
De relatar mi vida entera
Pero, espero que con esta
Ustedes cuenta se darán,
Que la vida en la frontera
No la pueden separar
La frontera cría
Una sociedad unida
Una sociedad única
Llena de bondad
En la frontera, el hombre
Necesita trabajar
Para cuidar a la familia
Los campos y guiar
Las maquilas poseen
El sudor de la mujer
Y la recompensa es nada
Más que hacerla envejecer
La frontera consiste
De familias hambrientas
Familias sedientas
Pero más, hay familias contentas

The cloud's, throats of water
One against the other collide
Spitting out a torrent
On earth leaving a fright
And after, a calmness wide

Maria Elena Enriquez Poem
Being an Adult is Fun
When I was younger, but a tot
I couldn’t wait till I grew up
I wanted desperately to know
How to determine right from wrong
I had in me a great desire
To dress up and fulfill my dream
To turn on and off the fire
As fast as I could scheme
But, now that I’ve become of age
I sit and wonder what became
Of the young and innocent and pure at heart
Who only wanted but to grow up?
I realize that I have now
A full and heavy load to plow
My memories in bliss
And the youth that I did miss
Yes being and adult is fun
But nothing, nothing compares to being young

Maria Elena Enriquez Poem
Oda a Nuestra Madre
Madres son la razón
Madres son el amor,
Que guardamos en el corazón.
Madres ignoran los
Malos comportamientos
Y siempre nos indican
Los caminos más abiertos
Te tenemos en lo más
Profundo de nuestro ser
Y gracias te damos
Por enderezar nuestro crecer
Aunque nunca declaramos
Que de ti necesitamos
La amiga que eres siempre
Y en ti la encontramos
Nuestra amistad es una
Que como la rosa abre
Y florece en una
Dichosa Madre.

Maria Elena Enriquez Poem

Maria Elena Enriquez Poem
My Father’s Face
I see my father’s face
And I can see a trace,
Of sorrow and regret
Of wishing never to forget
I see my father’s face
And I can see a place,
Where there was happiness and joy
When he was just a boy
I see my father’s face
And I see it in a daze,
Not remembering where he’s been
Or what he’s ever seen
I see my father’s face
And much to my amaze,
I see the lines upon his forehead
And the white hair on his head
I see my father’s face
And want to hold him in my embrace,
Plant a kiss and wish this day
That I could make pain go away

Maria Elena Enriquez Poem
Te Extraño
Llegando aquí
No sabes lo que vi.
Al ver tú tumba
Fue amor lo que sentí.
Yo se que ya descansas
Y en los brazos de el estas,
Cantando alabanzas
Al fin encontrando paz.
Con todo mi corazón
Te extraño
Y se que es egoísmo
Que tu muerte me hace daño.
Le pido a Dios
Con toda mi alma
Que el cielo te de,
Y que a mi me mande calma.
Pues no hay mejores dos, tan merecidos
Como Padre y Madre.
Que en la tierra lo que hicieron
Fue amar a Dios y al mundo.
Sabiendo que es así
Le doy Gracias al Señor,
Que me los presto estar aquí
A inculcarme, que “Dios es AMOR”.
