The only one that can hope to meet your expectations is you.

Drugs, Drugs, Drugs

Drugs are drugs are drugs
And they have the power to do so many things.
They can heal if used correctly or they can destroy so many lives if they are not.
If not used correctly -------
As you know, they eat away the soul
The consequences of the destruction/addiction
Is battered, damaged children
Broken homes and families
Isolation
Violence
Hate
Prison
Death

Beyond the Surface

a day of tears and broken spirits
spent on the floor in
frustration and no commmication
blame, causes and denial
tired of the lectures and accusations
the guilt and confusion

years spent thinking that i had to give everything to have people care
dinners, money, time
everything has been for the keeping of the peace
the status quo

don't understand why everything broke

family torn apart
freindships with conditions
unconitional love that was not there when needed
hurt and confusion

never meant to keep things from people just tried to keep things separate

would never endanger those i love

truly believe that it was my duty to help a sick person
but am learning to realize
it cannot happen if i lose everything that is me.

years spent giving in
years spent not speaking up
years spent keeping peace at all costs

A Lovers Tale

He lies in his solitary bed each night
Surrounded by demons and devils
Growing each day to shut out the most basic of needs
To touch and be touched
To stay sane

Unable to trust nothing and no one
To fight to stay alive
To give nothing up
No matter what
As a gesture, a word, or a look could cause death

Vows are made to himself
Excuses that need to be turned around
Always looking for that hope
But only seeing disappointment instead
Others that prejudge

To learn dignity and hope are not on the agenda
For right now, it is a matter of survival
Within himself all alone as he sees it
Yet depending on her to keep the hope of a future alive

She lies alone in a bed
Surrounded by family, pets and friends
Always looking for that basic need within her
To touch and be touched
To stay sane

Nature and love are a part of her life yet
SO much of her life has been alone
Afraid to reach out to others for that touch
Depending on her animals for that basic need for unconditional love

Dignity, dreams and hope are all she is made up of
Yet within herself she knows that it has to be inside for it to happen

She reaches out to him – him to her
Her family and friends are opposed and concerned
His past and age are in the way
Yet they have a connection that both seem to crave to keep

A tragedy like Romeo and Juliet where they never are to come together seems to be in the
making.

Do they beat the odds – only time will tell.

Her Wish

The simple things
The holding of hands in public
The caress of fingertips on a face
The touch of a tongue on skin
Arms around your body

To give comfort
To give love
To protect
To cuddle

Caresses
Long kisses
Touches in private places
Longing for that special touch
To give of yourself

A Stolen Night

They meet again after the long absence
The letters and phone calls to keep in touch
Do not help the awkward hug as their eyes meet
One unable to touch and the other craving it
It is too late at night to sort out so they move on out to the fresh air
Both knowing the time is limited for them at this point as he needs to face the consequences
of his actions of this night

They lie there being close, touching but separated
Sexual tension in the air
Unfulfilled dreams and thoughts for both
Knowing that the separation will be happening again in the light of the day

Until the next time they can be together for longer than a couple of hours they cling to the
promise that things will get better.

Wishing For a Hero

Isn’t life funny sometimes?
I have always wished for a hero in my life.
Someone to comfort, protect, and to encourage me to become the person I was meant to be.

Instead I end up with someone that has some major mistakes in his life and is paying for them
right now, with the loss of his freedom.

How do I explain the positive things this person makes me feel about myself?
Wanted, needed, empowered, safe, confident, and beautiful.

Am I being selfish in thinking that I can help this person become the person he is meant to
be?

He tells me he wants to become a successful person, what a fine line he will be walking not
to become a statistic in the system.

I will not let him hide behind or use me to take the easy way out.
He must stand on his own two feet, which I know he can do.

Many tell me I am delusional, but I need and want to have faith that this person will become
a hero he was meant to be.

If only in his own life.

Life Expectations

It always gets to me that people forget the most important thing
“To thine own self be true”

Life needs to be lived by the person living it
Expectations from others whether real or perceived cannot be lived up to
If the person is not following their own heart to the greatness within
No matter what others or that inner voice says.

Just My Thoughts of You

The days just seem so long since they took you away
Imagining the walls and the confinement
Knowing that you say reality is far worse than my imagination.
Wondering how to help you survive and knowing that there is nothing that I can do.

It is up to you and others
Your strength, your character which will need to put you on the path of your future and
dreams.
Others that will put obstacles in your way which include the guards, the courts, your past.

If not for you, then make a future for your little girl, she deserves (as do you) to know that
her father made mistakes but was able to overcome them.

You say your attitude is what is making the guards nervous; you will not take anything or
show them emotion.

Understandable knowing who is watching you.
But you need to respect yourself; as well as be respectful to them. They hold the keys.

It is a fine line to walk.
