Birthday Party

The month of October a place in time
Harvest moon and change of mind
Darker nights and colder climes
Starlit sky and flickering flames
Insane with what it really means
Born again on Halloween

Loads of gothic decorations
Placed with precise destination
Symbolism and latent dreams
Horror and fear and rising steam
Smoke and fog and misty scenes
Born again on Halloween

Ageless stories and hidden rumors
Lies and tales and fouler humor
Memories that frighten me
Deja vu with revelry
Hope that I will never see
Born again on Halloween

Quiet in a shadowed world
Quiet in a shouted word
Quiet what its meant to be
Late alone or alone it seems
Midnight late and later means
Born again on halloween

Invited to a festival
Invited to a carnival
Invited to a jubilee
Married to a ghostly team
Living with the dead just weaned
Born again on halloween

Older and then placing bets
Parties and people and I forget
Party and the joy of sex
Femme fatal with rosary
Losing weight and getting lean
Born again on halloween

Aphrodite

Aphrodite

Deep in a quiet enclave
In a secluded kingdom by the sea
Set in the twentieth century
Lived a wonderful child in a wonderful place
And her name was Aphrodite

Her eyes were silver grey
And quite fair, blond hair was she
Designed by angels, Made by God exquisitely
And she did not know from heaven below
That she was to be loved and loved by me

Strong as a man but by her hands
She was to bear my family tree
Written in the stars and in heaven
Cherubic child, beautiful smile
She was to be loved and be loved by me

The evil things that dwell in hell
 And Creep at night soundlessly
Exist in this small enclave by the sea
Then they spied with lidless eye
And noticed my Aphrodite

As time goes on her family moved
From the quiet enclave by the sea
In my wild imagination
I saw her tomb from my little room
For she died and she died to save me

Alone at a desk with lighted lamp
In this quiet kingdom by the sea
I sit in the dark and read
She embraces me in my day dreams
 Divine and lovely Aphrodite

If there is a God and he visits
This little kingdom by the sea
Invited and boldly empowered
Those unspeakable things and their rings
Will be found and be bound by me

Life goes on and it is late
I live sequestered in another place
Far from this sheltered enclave by the sea
Once in a while she appears far away
She waves and she beckons to me

I fall deep into slumber and dream
I truly do want to believe
Aphrodite aside my bed whispers
She smiles like a child and promises
To be loved and be loved by me

Son

Addendum to rhyme of an
ancient mariner.

Thirteen men on a dead man’s ship
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum
Drink and the devil have done for the rest
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum

Skull and crossbones upon my chest
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum
Guts and gore and a bloody mess
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum

a price be put upon my head
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum
Shot through the heart and I be blessed
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum

Gone to bury a treasure chest
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum
Sworn to an oath of blood and piss
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum

Take the secret to my death
Yo ho ho and a bottom of rum
Last man standing is the best
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum

Perverse Imp

Estranged to a lonely room
Littered with trash and splattered gloom
Fettered and sentenced to early doom
Distressed and distraught to a sordid mood
Creeps and crawls and stalks at night

To make sure the windows latched
To make sure the door to match
Hope to God to soon to catch
Before settling to an unworldly nap
Creeps and crawls and stalks at night

Late night battered darkness broken
Metallic taste in my mouth beholden
Bathroom rush with my mouth open
Rinse the mouth and nose thus salted
Creeps and crawls and stalks at night

I never see the imp come or go
Only disturbance in light or dark shadow
Low to the floor slither and flow
Dash under the bed, I don’t really know
Creeps and crawls and stalks at night

Maybe it is up on the ledge
Or under the bed or behind the case
Or cowering in a corner or place
Peeking out from a closet embrace
Creeps and crawls and stalks at night

In my dreams I see a sordid face
Withered and shriveled and contorted with hate
Laronian imp with purpose of fate
In my mouth it squirts the paste
Creeps and crawls and stalks at night

Again I wake and bolt for the sink
From the corner of my eye I see the imp
He disappears in wink or a blink
Invisible to the man with a limp
Creeps and crawls and stalks at night

Pint sized demon un happily born
Raised to hurt and kill with poison
Never seen in a man with reason
Punished in a life of torture and scorn
Creeps and crawls and stalks at night

In the darkness I see a leap
Up to the ledge an amazing feat
For a tiny thing at most two feet
Hiding until I fall asleep
Creeps and crawls and stalks at night

Needles inserted into my feet
Slow painful sore legs they do retreat
Hope to lord my soul to keep
Late at night in darkness deep
Creeps and crawls and stalks at night

In the blackness I hear a click
Grab a sword and after it
Under the bed in a squealing fit
Damaged with a warbling tweet
Creeps and crawls and stalks at night

Should I slowly pass away
Hopefully my children remember me
Horrible taste with it at bay
Awakening to a brand new day
Creeps and crawls and stalks at night

Should I survive to tell a story
Of terror, pain and faith and glory
Unbelievable unreasonable stodgy and gory
Peering in as I swoon with sedated foray
Creeps and crawls and stalks at night

Daytime

I never ever see them move
Except a lone bicycler cruise
Window shut shutters glued
I swear upon a heart so true
 Someone's Peeking out the window

People moving to and fro
To the market and back they go
From school with kids in tow
Mechanical garages mysteriously close
Someone's Peaking out the window

I see a bicycle upon a fence
A house closed with no offense
Nothing else happens then
Occasionally they come or go
Someone's Peaking out the window

Out of sight they walk around
And climb a fence without a sound
Or go in the back if its allowed
The lawn is often carefully mowed
Someone's Peaking out the window

Out of the corner of my eye
Cross my heart and hope to die
An image jumps, leaps and fly's
Destination quite unknown
Someone's peaking out the window,

No one would ever believe
They come and go without reprieve
Know no work or morality
When I garden on my knees
Someone's peaking out the window.

Very soon I pray to leave
No memories to forget or grieve
No friends or loves to hold or see
Forced to leave without ample means
Someone's peeking out the window.

Toxins

In my mind where they exist
See the trees amidst the forest
Speckled dust tossed at risk
Somewhat salted my recompense
Every time I eat or drink

Ephemeral ghosts when they appear
Crooked hand out of nowhere
Throws the dust in nourishment
Training me to then accept
Every time I eat or drink

Never dare to leave alone
Liquid, cup or glass
Upon a brief vacation home
Add to the reduvid morass
Every time I eat or drink

Through the doors they come
Although they are locked
Breaching an electric alarm
They turn the power off
Every time I eat or drink

Hiding in a closet
Or underneath the bed
Gaunt skeletons or midgets
Run while I am being fed
Every time I eat or drink

At a restaurant they come
While fixed and entranced
Leering sardonic heads peep up
Before I give the menu back
Every time I eat or drink

After we have left the house
They enter from next store
Neighbors aid and then abet
Powders potions and more
Every time I eat or drink

In the early morning while sleep still pervades
There comes another injection
From a ghost invisible to persuade
To combat fear, force or infection
Early when I awaken

Hopefully someday it will end
Without a gasp or scream
Admitted to a sepulcher
In an everlasting dream
When I eat or drink or sleep

Paranoid

The neighbors walk in front of the door
The wife disappears when she comes home
Children become reticent
Work piles up on the bed

Night becomes a nightly thing
Spirits drift out and in
Sound from back and then the side
Locked in mindless valentines

Up at dusk, sleep all day
Take a pill with mayonnaise
Take a break, surf the net
Turn in homework unrepentant

Beautiful roses in the yard
Sighting in a firearm
Keep the kids away from harm
Sweating over a monitor

Drinking beer in darkness deep
Only way to get asleep
Sounds and voices and noises creep
Check the padlock in my keep

Magic mirror talks to me
Twilight zone inside my scene
Hands reach out to throttle me
Endoscope squirts endlessly

Up to play a video game
Hat and mask and metal cane
Chair scooting across the floor
Not a raven nevermore

Not a friend or foe or dame
Not a dog or cat or waif
Not the real thing or android
Just a touch of paranoid

Holidays

In the deepening yuletide season
Absconded from tumultuous sleep
Royal water is my close liaison
To life I hold so tight and seek
At night in my space there is something.

With fingers numb and joints that swell
And writhing slugs in my nariz
Imp of the perverse born in hell
Steals and usurps my nightly peace
At night in my space there is something

Alarm is on and solid red
Heat motion lamp flashes at 2 am
Catatonic sleep tied to my bed
Midget phantom in silence says
At night in my space there is something

Fresh folded clothes that suddenly stink
Articles lost and gone that materialize
Speed and cleaner in my morning drink
In my wash basin where hair is dyed
At night in my space there is something

The whisper of words in my window
Long in the depth of night
Of meaning only unconsciously knows
Far and away to the left of right
At night in my space there is something

At length my children do deny
Of complicity or wrongdoing
They cross their chest and sanctify
Knowledge of presence or moving
At night in my space there is something

In the month of the year of purity
Traveling distantly to see family
Sleep on the floor and waken to insanity
I pray to my god to deliver me
At night in my space there is something
