The Message of the Cross

The Message of The Cross

We are living in a troubled world
Where people’s minds are in great turmoil
Society is alarmed at the divorce rate
And child abuse cases continue to escalate
The fabric of society is shaken
And many are emotionally broken
But one thing that remains unshaken
Is the message of the Cross

Chorus
The Cross offers hope and peace of mind
In Jesus you can gain a life sublime
So if you don’t want to be lost
You must kneel at the cross

Are you alarmed at the calamities around you?
And worried about your job and your future too?
Are you troubled by the diseases of this age?
Are you anxious about paying off your mortgage?
Well, I just really want to let you know
That there is one thing for sure
God will always make a way
If you only look to Him today
It’s the message of the Cross

Chorus
The Cross offers hope and peace of mind
In Jesus you can gain a life sublime
So if you don’t want to be lost
You must kneel at the cross

Now even in your quarantine and lockdown
You can embrace his tranquility and freedom
Do not focus on the things that are earthly
For they are deceitful and only temporary
Just keep your eyes on the Father above
For through Jesus He demonstrated his great love
He was crucified for you and me
And his salvation is rich and free
And that’s the message of the Cross

Chorus
The Cross offers hope and peace of mind
In Jesus you can gain a life sublime
So if you don’t want to be lost
You must kneel at the cross

Battle of the Mind

Battle of the Mind

I cannot pray
I feel empty
I feel dry
My mind
 Keeps going astray

Searching for the passion,
I kneel, I bow
I stand, I walk
Fighting my way back
-	To the same line of praise

Many thoughts vying for my attention

Too much reasoning
Is it possible?
Is it right?
To empty one’s mind
-	of all thinking?

So I restart the worship
But ,
 One line of sincere praise
And the mind wanders again
It’s a battleground!

It’s another season of waiting
- I know

So I am hopeful, confident that
He will pour in me
A new awakening!

Praise God!

Me-Agent Covid-19

Me- Agent Covid-19
(1)
Halt! Wey you think you going
Eh, Grenadian?
You ain’t hearing
 You ain’t listening
You can’t see
What! You doh fraid me
I should stop making all this fuss
Because am just a little virus!
Covid-19.

(2)
Can’t you see that I control things?
That I have everybody on a string?
Me- this little virus
Invisible as invisible can be
You better don’t mess with me
I am evident everywhere
I dominate the atmosphere.
Me- Covid-19.

(3)
I can attack your respiratory system
And turn your life into total mayhem
I move faster than lighting, faster than 5G
I will mutilate every cell in your body
Doctors are perplexed
Trying to fit me into a novel context
I can wipe out this generation clean
Me- Super Covid- 19.

(4)
So if you know what’s good for you
Go back and obey the curfew
Practice proper hygiene
Impose a self -quarantine
And if you playing more dread
Ah killing you dead, dead, dead!
It would be a sad conclusion
When my tentacles launch their mortal invasion
Me- Operation Covid-19.

(5)
I control world economics
I manipulate minds and politics
Crashing stock markets
Shutting down supermarkets
Even the churches
Everyone is in my clutches
I even closed international borders
Yes, I am proxy for the future ‘order’
Me - Commander- Covid-19.

(6)
Watch politicians fumbling
Educators scrambling
Investors crumbling
Bosses bawling
Doctors, everybody on their knees
Begging God, “Please
Stop this thing!”
 Covid-19.

(7)
Look! Just retreat
Go home, take a sit
Ponder on my capabilities
Reflect on your responsibilities
I guarantee, you will see
That my assignment is not only calamity
And don’t catch a fit
When you realize my tremendous benefits
Me- Little Covid-19.

(8)
See! Workers smiling
People resting
Children happy
They now have a family
That’s why I leave them alone
And send their parents home
The air is more refreshing
As pollution level keeps dropping
Me- Covid-19

(9)
Note though, that ultimately
My presence is quite timely
To set the prophetic stage
For a One World Sage
So no one can take me down
Before my assignment is done
He that has an ear
 Let him hear
Be very aware of the vaccine
Me- Agent Covid-19.

His Presence

His Presence
I can sense the new day dawning
As my love slowly peels off my night’s covering-
the blanket of comfort and rest.
My love is gentle, but
He awakens me urgently
Least the cares of yesterday
Lurking at the bedroom door
Steal my heart
Leaving Him yearning for my first attention
Again!

My eyelids flutter
My first thoughts are of Him
I can feel his powerful presence
I nestled closer into his strong arms
Deeply inhaling his sweet savour
It’s like heaven
My heart soars as his aura fills my being
I turn ever so gently in his arms
Soft warmth permeates my being
I remember the night’s events
All the turmoil and pain
I can still hear his tender voice whispering
“I will keep you in perfect peace”
His breath caressing me as He whispered again
“You will lie down and sleep and wake again my love
For I will keep you safe and sustain you”

I burst forth with inner praises
Ignoring the stirrings of the others
These mornings belong to me and my love
After all,
Isn’t this the reason for the containment?
No more excuses to dash out of bed
Barely a good morning kiss
He needs and has my full attention
He did say that He is a jealous one
And that I should have no other beside Him

So I laze in his presence
Just to be filled with his essence
Now I am strengthened
I kneel at my bedside,
Overwhelmed with unspeakable gratitude
I do not deserve such attention
So I give him all my adoration
As I say,
“Thank you Heavenly Father
Your Presence is everything to me!”

A Novel Bus Ride

A Novel Bus Ride

First week of schools' lockdown
Got to the terminal in town
Surveying the scene around me
Detecting a sense of solemnity
Got unto the bus quietly
The lady in the seat glanced suspiciously
Jamming to the side more closely
Her head almost out the window
I know what she thinking for sure
Because it’s on my mind as well
But neither of us can tell.

No conductor –No jamming no fuss
People cautiously slipping into the bus
Nobody seem to be bothering
With ‘strange’ woman on the sidewalk singing
 “Corona Corona
God go destroy Grenada’
And the bus quietly pulling out
Not provoking the coughs under lockdown in the mouth
My lady still not turning around
And I thinking of doing a sneeze, any sound.

‘Strange’ woman still singing she calypso
Pelting lyrics for so
“Corona Corona
Too much obeah
 And rapist in Grenada.”
Leaving her behind
I praying for her mind
While others minding their business
Sanitizing away the impending crises.

With the bus stealthily moving
Not a word echoing
All the way to Springs
I pondering on this new thing
Until my time to drop out
Just knocking, no shout
But where is the tin
To drop the money in?
