Lena Townsend Poem
In perfect rhythm
A gently flowing ballad
Perfect melody
Tugging at my heart
Softly lifting my spirit
Tickling my senses
A song of beauty
Calling to the universe
To maintain all life
Everlasting tune
Beckoning for all to see
Shimmering with hope
Singing out for peace
In harmony with the wind
Conducted by God

Lena Townsend Poem
A Christmas dinner that can’t be beat
Here is the menu of what we’ll eat
Mashed potatoes whipped smooth and fluffy
Green bean casserole; nice and crunchy
Pickles and olives on a perfect relish tray
Cranberry delight that’s been chilling all day
Sweet potatoes such tasty treats
Hot rolls steaming both white and wheat
Homemade honey butter and strawberry jam
A gorgeous honey glazed Christmas ham
Turkey and noodles are piping hot
A fuzzy naval salad; I almost forgot
A slow roasted turkey golden brown
And broccoli rice casserole; pass it around
For dessert we’ve a variety of tasty treats
Tons of scrumptious goodies to eat
Chocolate chip cookies and brownies so sweet
Four kinds of pies including minced meat
It’s all there so fill up your plate
I’m getting mine, I can hardly wait

Lena Townsend Poem
The smell of the summer night air
Takes me back to times we shared
You and I dancing beneath the moon
Crickets playing a lovers tune
Trees full with lush green leaves
Whispering poetry to you and me
A view from beneath a Missouri bluff
Talking of passion, love, and lust
Your hand in mine strolling the path
Sitting on the deck and looking back
Picnic tables and barbecue grills
Driving and parking, is this for real?
My memory’s filled with your sweet love
Do you remember that snow white dove?
A kiss goodnight under a star filled sky
Best friends forever, a promise, no lie
It excites me to think that every year
Whether life or memory I return here
We will create magic again I know
On a summer night in the moon’s soft glow

Lena Townsend Poem
It is a family tradition
Passed from year to year
That we spend together
And celebrate with cheer
As the first snowflakes fall
We hear mama’s voice call
"It’s time for hot cocoa;
Come one and come all"
She asks nothing in return
Just quality time to share
Making each cup special
To show how much she cares
Now anxiously we wait
When leaves begin to fall
That cup of love to come
With winters first snowfall

Lena Townsend Poem
Your love surrounds me in colors
Passion and desire call me to you
I can not see you, yet I know you are there
Together on a blanket of spiraling color we meet
High above the Earth, in a realm unlike the one we have known
You touch me and fire rages within me
Embers become flames as memories flood over me like water
Though not a physical touch your fingertips glide over me, tracing my soul
I gasp in delight and a breath escapes me, the air of life
Like gold or silver your eyes shine upon me
I see your spirit intertwined with mine
We are free, we are energy

Lena Townsend Poem
I long to soar with the eagle
To fly uninhibited about the earth
Looking down onto the mountains
Admiring their rocky faces
To feel the clouds brush over me
While having the wind streamline down my back
To meet the evening sky with all its brilliance
And circle in the beams of the full moon
I long to perch high in the limbs of an evergreen
To inhale the freshness of the first spring shower
Listening as the raindrops filter through the branches below me
Forming puddles that trickle gently over the edge of a stone path
To live in the moment as it is, not as it should be
I want to mount to the sky effortlessly
Gliding and drifting aimlessly
With no care for the hour of day
I want to watch the crimson sunrise at dawn
While resting on an old black oak branch
Then dip down into the cool bath of a large stream
And emerge with a rainbow trout for breakfast
I long to call out to my mate in song
To meet me at the top of the bridge
Overlooking the peaceful flowing river
Or in an open meadow filled with prairie grass
Oh, how I long to soar with the eagle
To fly freely about the earth

Lena Townsend Poem
Blue, violet, and magenta masterpiece
Brushed with mounds like white cotton
Rainbows streaming down sunbeams
Intertwining amongst pillows of light
Drifting, spiraling downward
Covering the earth in elegance
Gracing many a mountains face
Illuminating sand and stones
Creating paintings upon the soul
