The Greatness of Your Character

As I think on the things that I so admire about you,

I admire:

Your undoubted love for God,
Your ability to learn,
How quickly you can change a negative attribute in yourself, into a positive,
The right choices you make consistently, and swiftly without a fleeting thought of the
wrong choices as options,
How you are so tenderly moved by the suffering of another,
How your sympathy changes into empathy and you become the fulfiller,
The great teacher and the coach that you have been to myself and to others,
The humility that quietly adorns you when attacked unjustly, or when you have been
misunderstood,
How you show the way by example to our Children and Grandchildren with patience, kindness
and love,
And most of all your unwavering love for me,
And so much more.

Unfeigned Kindness

You have taken me places where my own abilities or lack thereof, would never have
allowed me, your greatness going before me, preparing each step of the way. When
I arrive to the place, you have carefully readied, with my position secured, I suddenly
discover that it isn’t about me, but for the poor, and needy. I have with amazement
stood by, observing the works of the kindnesses, that You have applied to the hearts
and lives of many. Your kindness compares to none other, untouchable. The
beginning of Your tapestry, sometimes, frightening, sometimes, perplexing.
However, the outcome is always the same, gloriously unfeigned.

Forever My Friend

The rain stopped falling today.
All of the clouds seemed to have gone away.
The sun shone bright and clear.
The dew sparkled with glistening, radiant cheer.
Upon each flower, a smile and a touch of laughter appeared.
A song came singing amidst the wind so cool and calm,
with a deep sense of security in the air.

Why then, Lord, am I feeling such great despair, feeling overloaded with worldly cares?
Why then, Lord, are my eyes filled with much sorrow and tears?
My heart aches for comfort, my mind for peaceful refuge through the power of prayer.

Though I have perceived all the
beauty around me,
my spirit cries out loudly,
"Oh Lord, I am empty and bare."
Hoping to hear His sweet voice once again,
I plead in travail,
"Lord cleanse me from all of my sin,
And let Your glorious light enter in.
Remember me as I remember You,
for without You I have reached my end."

His sweet, forgiving love flows like a river.
My heart is reminded that He is my forever-lasting Friend.
The foundation which cannot be shaken,
now the renewal of my sleeping spirit,
which has been awaken,
knowing that in His love I can always,
yes always, depend.
For He is my forever Friend-Jesus.

Destined

Destined
Her cries were heard before her head moved out of her Mother’s womb. Her eyes,
a deep blue, which, took you into the depths of her very soul, reflecting the gravity
of it all. This baby was carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders. It felt
inevitable that this little one’s life was going to be hard and cold, a road that she
came into this world unprepared to travel, yet destined. Cries of fear and
uncertainty? No, but cries of the all-knowing dread that tomorrow is coming, and
she will live. Live through it all. All of the pain and suffering that she owned coming
in.

As she experienced life, her mind rang out in daunting thoughts of futility. Walking
through the fire daily, grasping at glimpses of hope, but only finding her hands filled
with empty despair. Trying to find a song in her night, she only felt a choking.

Daily her heart fought off the darkness that was trying to embrace her.
Disappointment came in many packages such as disease, molestations, beatings,
trickery, mental scourging, emotional blackmail, pain, un-forgiveness, adulteries,
anger, hate, deceit, loss, anguish and defeat.

But, for a fleeting moment life felt sweet, long enough to tease the desires and
hopes of her young expecting heart. Everything she touched prospered, only to be
squandered away by her debaucherous companions. Her heart wilted, and then
hardened as survival took over, but slowly emptiness had its way with her, suicide
seemed to be her ticket to freedom. But, she could not even accomplish death, for
you see she was destining, destined to live.

Writhing Will

Why you’re writhing will,
 Mate your youthful wings,
 Through younger sway,
 Would think there you,
 Writher yet.

Is That You

You are in the shadows,
I hear your faint cries,
I feel the chill,
As you rush by.
When did you die?
This manifestation of yours,
Informs me,
That you come from your grave,
This mourns me.
Is that you?
Where will you go too?
What will you do?
A ghost,
Or, merely a hoax?
Mystifying.

Anticipation

Nana hasn't met you yet,
I pray that there'll be no regret.
You live with both your mom and dad,
But married, they are not yet.
If they part, I will be sad,
Especially, if you go with dad.
