Starry, Starry Night

STARRY, STARRY NIGHT

I often look up towards the sky at night,
And wonder who or what is there,
I shout out loud, if you see or hear me, I love you,
I do this every night, the starry sky, an absolute delight!
I drive out of the city to the Kruger Park,
There, not only am I close to nature and serenity,
But to the universe, I look up, no pollution,
I stretch my arms up high, excited, it is very dark!
No street lights, or cars headlights, or any noise,
The moon is so bright and full, it smiles at me,
Quite rare, for normally the moon looks a little sullen,
The stars, I’ve lost count, as they twinkle with such poise!
The Milky Way so clear, I feel I want to reach up high,
As it allures me, and weaves across the sky,
Milky, so graceful and silent, as it, and I watch
Sparkling stars, and planets rotating, unknown
To mankind, yet to be discovered in our eternal
Galaxy to which I want to fly!
Our universe has constellations of stars, named mostly
After mythology’s gods, who beckon, tempt and wink
And entice me, but I am on planet earth, how near
Could I reach this flamboyant display, body, soul
And mind, holistically!
So maybe if I look up into our never ending
Sky at night,
And wish upon one star, with imagination
That runs rampant,
I will see above and far beyond with breathless anticipation,
What I could never imagine, an explosion that blinds me,
An aura, translucently bright!

Who Will I Be Tomorrow

WHO I’LL BE TOMORROW

If what I am,
And what I do,
Makes me who I’ll be tomorrow,
If what I say,
And what I don’t,
Makes me who I’ll be tomorrow,
If what I think,
With heartfelt wisdom,
Makes me who I’ll be tomorrow,
If what I see,
And what I feel,
Makes me who I’ll be tomorrow,
If what I speak,
Be it right or wrong
Makes me who I’ll be tomorrow,
If I am ugly,
To those I love,
Makes me who I’ll be tomorrow,
If I could dare,
To hide a sin,
Makes me who I’ll be tomorrow,
If I only take,
And never give,
Makes me who I’ll be tomorrow,
I’ll have to stop and think,
Who do I want to be tomorrow!

What Have You Done

Dear humans, do you read me, I live in space,
Merely a being, sent by God, I'm all over the place.
I circle the world, live among debris,
You leave behind, you ruined your planet,
Now you want to go to Mars, so that you can
Pollute that planet in a few thousand years,
I have shed enough tears,
A millennium has gone by, and yet my fears,
Are much the same, not only the land you destroy,
But what of your beautiful oceans, you have caused
Global destruction, ice is melting, oceans rising
Lands worldwide are drowning, farms are flooding,
Mudslides send houses into never-never land,
We must do something, you all say the same,
Well do it.
Have you absolutely lost your sanity,
Your complete mentality in irreversible totality,
First think of your ocean life, ban plastic bags,
Deforestation must stop, this must be immediate
All trees are life giving, sustaining an all encompassing
Balance, animals lose their forests and move into
Suburbs, confused, looking for food.
You overpopulate,
Why three or four children, be grateful have one
Others so sad, as they have none.
Unemployment on the rise,
The poor have no chance of winning first prize.
You have brought about division between
Colors, creeds and nations, stop it, we are all
Brothers and sisters, please help the poor
Who come to ask for food at your door
Disparity of wealth crazy, billionaires now more
Than before, whilst the poor live under bridges
Or scavenge in garbage, shame on us, shame on us,
Shame on our governments, access to water is
Humanitarian, all should have access.
I therefore beseech you to do the right thing, be kind,
Be mindful, allow love to seep into your heart,
Don't risk becoming an inevitable mortal fatality,
Nurture your planets ozone deficiency, begin,
with healing your unhinged mental capacity
The beginning starts with you,
But of course, that you knew.

My Interpretation of If By Rudyard Kipling

MY INTERPRETATION OF IF BY RUDYARD KIPLING -

If you can keep calm when all around you,
Are frustrated, and angry with you,
Always believe in yourself, and be true,
Don’t be too proud, be positive with others too,
All good things, come to those that wait,
Don’t ever listen to lies, that’s a fact,
Try to avoid being hated, don’t ever hate,
Do not show off, and from yourself distract.

Dream, but do not let dreams absorb you,
Put all to thought, and exercise this thru,
If you succeed, become befallen too,
And meet these dire opposites at their game,
Stand up to truths that you believe in,
They know not what they speak, they only shame,
So jealous of your hard earnings, a twin to sin
They try to mimic, to no avail, they do not gain.

Put all you have achieved to one side
Knowing who you are, believe in do or die,
You might lose, begin again, with it abide.
Tell no one of any loss, reach for the sky,
If you can use your strength, and soul,
To carry on, as grace helps you to become whole,
And try everything within, to reach your goal,
Tell them I’ll carry on, not dig myself a hole!

If you speak with others, to thy self be true,
Be proud, never lose sight of who you are,
If friend or foes have no ability to scar,
If they agree with what you say, but not with all,
Learn to forgive, don’t think you are a cut above,
If all you say is worthy within sixty seconds
You have achieved your worth on earth,
And--- indeed more--- you’ll be a man my son!

Hello and Goodbye Coco

HELLO AND GOODBYE COCO

I wanted a brown Labrador, blonde and black ,
I love them all
But I had made up my mind, anxiously I sat waiting for a call,
From the breeder, the phone rang ,
They had a brown female pup,
I could be there at three, I couldn’t wait to
Cuddle and pick her up!
A grown up woman was I, but couldn’t contain my excitement.
We already had an eight year old male gold lab,
Would he father her?
The door opened, a woman was holding a beautiful
Pup with brown fur,
I finally took her in my arms and held her tight next to
My beating heart,
We fell in love right from the start!
She certainly was not six weeks old probably five, as her
Brown liquid eyes looked into mine,
My Husband who is the most loving man in the world,
Just smiled,
And gave the two of us some alone time!
As we were driving back, she snuggled comfortably
Into my arms,
It was winter so I brought an old baby blanket that I had,
Coco, gave me a loving look with those liquid brown eyes,
My husband jovially asked me, will you still love me a tad!
I named her Coco, my son’s idea, and brought her home,
Carefully watching them both, and how Plato would react.
He sniffed her from top to toe, lay down, and put his head
Head between his paws, and looked quite
Confused to be exact!
Even my son who was in his fifth month of backpacking through
South America with his future wife, phoned to ask about Coco!
She was our baby, and followed me everywhere, to and fro,
My husband and son played soccer with Coco, they said
That she was an excellent goalkeeper, who an opposing
Team would dread!
We had three wonderful, happy years with
My loving dog Coco,
But one evening out of the blue, her legs were slow, her eyes
Sad and she didn’t seem as well as like two days ago.
We immediately took her to our local vet,
Everyone loved Coco, our brown beautiful pet,
He gave her antibiotics and hoped they would work
But a week later we took her back to the vet,
This time he said she must stay, and would not let
Her come home, he expected the worst, my tears,
Began to flow, and my greatest fears
Were about to come true, we asked for blood tests
And a cat scan and an MRI too, but she had cancer
Leukaemia which is horrible and fast, she had two weeks
Said the vet, until this dreaded disease peaks!
He looked at us in a knowing way,
Coco had to leave us, what more can I say!
We had her cremated and she lies in our garden,
Under her favourite rose bush
Where she used to lie in ambush,
Ready to run after Plato who pined for her and
Was very sad,
We brought him a new puppy, which made glad,
But Coco was his soul mate,
To die young, was her fate!

Disunity Then Unity

DISUNITY THEN UNITY

Last Episode of Pure Fantasy.

Fireball always seems to take center stage,
Except in the last episode it was with absolute rage,
Echoman has secretly loved this ravishing beauty
Lost her to a human whilst she was on duty!
There were good and bad super heroes
Throughout my story,
Who realized and expressed the power and glory
Of good over evil,
Between the ones to be trusted over a dirty mean weasel.
Scorpion Sting, Midnight Raven, and Guiltless
Real Bad boys with murderous intentions,
Whilst Galactic Warrior, Celestial Calm, and Tidal wave were
The good guys who didn’t wish to continue vengeance.
Our Bad boys come from Plant Jupiter and on their
Return through to their planet traveled our solar system,
And Visited Planets Mercury Uranus and Saturn,
Incredible numbers of soldiers were chosen,
Soldiers ready to fight to the end, this could not be disputed
Whilst Echoman recruited
Warriors loyal, and just, perfectly suited
To fight fairly, from Neptune Venus and Mars,
Soldiers reputed who knew the rules of
Intergalactic laws,
These planets were guarded at portals with fearless
Robots of incredible vigor!
Returning with his spaceship carefully piloting
And avoiding satellites in orbit,
And stars that were dying
Meteors of all sizes flying
Echoman felt sad, this whole war had become sordid!!
However, I have a secret which
Is now to be disclosed, three colonels led our
Superheroes one beautiful blonde and two
Handsome men, they were going to do well
In leading their warriors away from certain death
And the devil’s hell,
Sunshine Smile, Silent one and Wingster,
They had to prepare to retaliate immediately
Hundreds of space ships already
Firing, and
Diving,
A formidable sight ,
This was going to be a fearful battle and fight!
Our three colonels Sunshine Smile Silent One and Wingster
Rocketed past the clouds and our sky,
Reaching space,
At an incredible pace,
Both armies fought with unbelievable superhuman power
They fired unending lasers and rockets,
Space ships fell from the skies in flames
Thousands had died
Spaceships smashed to the ground, soldiers fried.
Echoman could take this no more, suddenly disaster, may day may day,
May day May day, Silent One radioed in, Sunshine Smile has been hit,
She is critical, both colonels with remotes
Helped her land safely on Planet Earth,
Doctors rallied around, caring for the VIP
They were aware of her rank and worth
And her intergalactic reputation.
The King of Saturn and Echoman urgently
Began their communication,
Both agreed this bloodshed was useless,
They were destroying their galaxy ,
It would become just a memory a fantasy!
The bad superheroes were ordered to lay
Down their arms too many had died
Whilst Echoman told his soldiers to stop
Too many widows had already cried!
There would be no universe, no galaxy to be united!
Sunshine Smile recovered and all three colonels
Were to be knighted,
Wingster returned to marry his beauty from Venus,
Whilst Silent one and Sunshine Smile, the two
Colonels each an absolute genius
Returned to their families safe and sound
Upon their home ground.
Wingster’s wedding was a sparkling intergalactic bling
An absolute thrill and fling!
The 8 planets including Earth, held a universal forum
Where a treaty and coalition between them all
Including Earth, was signed, hopefully all planets would
Become allies, stand proud and tall,
And tell their children one day of a hateful War,
That almost witnessed a galactic death and fall.

One Wondrous Night

With his first touch our galaxy became an orchestra,
I quivered as waves of ecstasy took possession of me,
I felt I was no more in control of what was to be,
I heard voices of celestial beings,
Galactic sounds turned the heavens into an opera,
Angels misty, joyful tears stirring constellations,
Each one delivering an electrifying sensation,
Arousing my psyche, mind, spirit and soul.

The night enveloped us in a sheet of moonlit satin,
Caressing us, millions of stars cascading,
Sprinkling star dust upon us which glowed
Like fireflies, the milky way seemed to be slipping
Down, slithering across the sky,
Whilst the moon, other planets and solar systems
Collided, pyrotechnics illuminated the sky,
A deafening symphony tickling my heart cords.

Intoxicated and spent, gazed into his expressive,
Loving, fathomless, fawn brown eyes,
Such an encompassing ecstatic connection,
A togetherness of merging into one,
Sealed with a passionate kiss,
Filled with life-long promises,
In awe, Planet Earth trembled beneath us,
One wondrous night, of many more to come.

Love Anger Death and Guilt

LOVE ANGER DEATH AND GUILT

Blog was A young girl who was
Still at school
Everyone loved Blog, she
Was nobody’s fool,
In fact her peers regarded as really cool.
She was determined to learn,
Her mom an alcoholic and her dad
Hooked on drugs,
She was determined to take a stern
Turn in her life, her brother also in jail,
She tried harder and harder, she was
She not going to fail!
She finished school and graduated with
Excellent grades for college,
By now an eighteen year old,
With a surplus of knowledge!
She was popular from the start,
And met a wonderful young man
Brad, who was the love of her life,
Cupid sent an arrow like a dart,
Straight through Blog’s heart!
Within months they became a
Well known item,
They were always together
From Christmas day when
They met, until the
Following Autumn.
But something was troubling Blog,
Brad seemed to be too friendly
With Beverly,
At every
Spare moment that they got,
They were together,
He seemed to be infatuated with
Her a lot!
However,
Brad and Blog were still together
And spoke of becoming engaged,
But one day Blog saw Brad kiss Bev
On the cheek,
At this she became totally outraged!
She had failed an exam, and now this,
What a week!
Blog was going to speak to
Brad that same night,
At her house on a bench outside,
She knew the moon would be bright.
But something dreadful happened
That wasn’t right,
Blog felt an omen, a bad vibe came
Over her, the phone rang, it was Beverly
She just cried and cried,
On his way to Blog, Brad collided
With another car and instantly died!
Blog was devastated, so shocked
Yet not a tear.
She felt guilty that she thought bad
Of Brad,
After his funeral having a cup of tea
With Beverly, Blog understood
Beverly was Brads cousin,
She wanted to get up and flee,
so embarrassed was she,
Now she cried tear after tear!
Brad and I held a secret from you,
Said Bev, we were planning a second
Year anniversary party for you two!
But it wasn’t to be,
Bev and Blog looked up at a starry sky,
And Saw a star twinkle, Brad would wink
With his right eye,
Which secretly between
Blog and Brad, meant I love you,
Her wink was bad, as she sent a message
Back to Brad - I love you too!

Plane Crashes Fate Takes Over

It was Christmas Eve and I was at the airport,
Not a soul in sight, almost deserted, it was 10.00 pm,
Only two hours before Christmas day,
Perhaps if I got on a plane, I would see Santa in his sleigh.
I lined up at the counters that were still open,
Not one passenger plane had a seat,
Luckily found one on a cargo plane, carrying exotic wildlife
Destination Rio Brazil, where my parents lived
Phoned them whilst I was being rushed to the cargo plane,
Seated were another six passengers , they looked unfriendly,
Some dodgy to me, but I kept my own council ,buckled
Up, within minutes we were in the air,
I must have seemed different to them, in my office suit,
Curly long hair, not to mention I still had my high heels on!
A longish flight so bought chocolates and packets of crisps,
And 3 cokes, was in a very frivolous and elated mood.
My fiancé was joining us for New Years Eve,
My parents were keen to meet Gregg.
I was sleepy, but a bumpy patch made me alert,
The tree tops looked too close to me, the
The ground just beneath us, then, a crashing thrashing metallic
Crunching sound, I was trapped in my seat battered and sore
Looking at the ceiling below me, the plane had overturned.
Next to me in a broken crunched crate, a bleeding male lion
King of the jungle I felt sure he wouldn’t survive,
A python making its way closer to where I hung,
And a baby elephant made tiny trumpet calls
His mother lay quiet, she was unfortunately dead.
I’m sure many animals were trapped, but terrified to
Go to look, goodness knows what had got loose,
But the back of the plane, and its tail had broken off and
The crates had been thrown out, most animals got loose,
Many lay dead, I must be overweight as my seat belt
Broke loose, where was the python, my main concern.
The poor lion died but the baby elephant looked at
Me as if I was his savoir, I had to somehow get him
Loose, there was a fire starting from the pilot’s cockpit,
Oh God help me please I can’t leave the baby elephant
Here so, I clambered up some of the wreckage,
And found a steel pipe, I bashed and bashed the crate,
Trying not to fall
I was actually risking my all,
But must safe this baby
With a last effort of my weakened strength,
I broke the crate and down fell baby, cradle and all,
I fell on the baby elephant, we had both survived.
The baby ran out wildly and I close on its heels,
We managed to run as far as we could when the
Plane exploded, with a force that sent me flying
Through the air, the baby elephant sensed that he
Should keep close to me, and stroked me with his tiny
Trunk which was so cute, for the 1st time I fell in love.
I looked back into the plane, no other human survived,
An arm and a leg, enough evidence that they were dead
Then one person stirred, a young man, next to where I
Had been sitting, he sat up, must have been concussed,
I checked him, no bones broken, got up on his own.
Staring at me in disbelief, are we the only ones, yup
I said, gave him a coke I still had in my backpack,
As he took his first sip and continued to gulp.
Oh, and a baby elephant, he thinks I’m his mom.
We are lost frustrated and in pain,
In the Amazon Rain Forest.
My shoulder hurts, let me look he said, its broken,
I’m so sorry , tore of his shirt and made me a sling,
How kind I thought, MMmmmm and so handsome,
Hungry I asked, have chocolates and crisps in my bag pack
Are you an angel, you were on this plane for a purpose.
I’m engaged I said, Ah he replied, but not married I see,
I blushed, what are we going to do, he told me don’t stress,
Technology is great they know we have crashed and
And where we are more or less, they know we're in a mess.
I have flares in my bag pack, told me his name was Alfredo
And told him mine was Kim, he then fired two flares into the sky
Our chances are good, he said far more than slim.
Mentioned he was the superintendent of the Washington Zoo,
But there were tears in his eyes,
Green, much like cats’ eyes,
As he head counted what was left,
Most animals lost or dead,
The balance had fled.
We lay on the grass, cut bruised and broken,
We heard a helicopter, Alfredo fired two more flares,
He casually put his arm around me, now we are safe he said,
Exhausted and sleepy I fell fast asleep, passed out.
I woke up in a hospital bed.
My parents and Alfredo had introduced themselves, was
In hospital for three days as I cut my leg severely and my
Shoulder needed much rest. He was by my side from dawn.
Until I fell asleep at night and held my hand, oh those
Beautiful green eyes. My parents noticed a relationship
Was forming, I phoned Gregg, told him not to come
As I was not well, and that we had to talk when I returned
To Washington, realization set in, was not in love with Gregg.
Alfredo’s family visited me, our parents became great friends.
Ellie was allowed into the hospital for a brief visit when she
Lifted her trunk and trumpeted the loudest elephant trumpet
I had ever heard, Alfredo said she had temporary lodgings at
The local zoo, for back to Washington she was coming
To be with me, Alfredo loved animals and kept many on
Massive Estate. New Year’s Eve found me in the arms of Alfredo,
When we shared our first kiss. Which sealed my muddled mind
That I loved him. He took off my engagement ring that I was
Wearing, and romantically on bent knee proposed, I accepted,
Now wear his ring,
Who would have thought that everything
That it happened was meant to be, sadly some had to die,
It was their time.
As for me I had found true love,
Had a guardian angel,
Ellie the baby’s thankful mom, from above.

Book: Reflection on the Important Things
