Akin to the universe
Heaven calls my name

Susan Mills Poem
What will this world continue to make of me?
What will I continue to make of myself?
And the melding henceforth.
Minced meat, chopped liver.
Or a strand of grey pearls.
These days it's a new way of life.
A new way of living.
Oh, I just had a senior moment.
I need to dye my hair.

Susan Mills Poem
They say dream big and have lofty dreams
The inspirational gurus that is
Well, some people in America think it is a caste system
And some people believe in the American dream
Either way I think you have to work your butt off
I am a dreamer, a day dreamer
And a hard worker
Clawing my way to the top
In order to break through the glass ceiling

Susan Mills Poem
Clove of garlic for the heart
Green tea for diabetes
Carrots for the eyes
Milk for healthy teeth and bones
Coffee for alertness
Prune juice for regularity
Spaghetti for energy
Oatmeal for fullness
Green beans for vitamin 12
Red meat for anemia
Apple fritter for my sweet tooth

Susan Mills Poem
Like ice and ice
Satin purple ribbon in between
Describe the lines
Echoes, and voice in between
Like a sculpture of an angel
holding a frozen ice cold heart
She's the ice princess
of your fenced in world
Defined by the limits of your own mind
Co-sign her heart to dependence
For you can't overcome
the shadows of your past
And the horns sound
to glorify her
And what are you supposed to do when the world
adores the ice princess of your heart
If only you could melt her
To only to chisel her
Into your truest of true beauty queen
But no she's your angel
Frozen and unmoving at times
To an exxagerated few
Sing her praises
Compliment her ways
See the angel and not your past
See the in between lines of what is not being said
Hear the silence of her words
that you are her comfort and company

Susan Mills Poem
God is a miracle working inside of me
He shows me daily all that I can be
God is wonderful and miraculous
His son Jesus is my higher power
Daily I pray upon his word
Jeremiah 29:11 gives us hope for the future and godwinks everyday
Now I pray

Susan Mills Poem
I got my cat Tiny at the pumpkin patch
She is a black and white salt and pepper cat
And she and I do like to attach
If she were all black I would more oft think of a bat
I know I will never be as good as Shakespeare
Not sure if he ever wrote of Halloween
Someday as an intellectual I will appear
But this is about my cat and how she is a Queen
Yes, if I could be half as good as her
She is so pristine and pretty and poised
I call her my pumpkin spice to allure
She likes her cat food by toised
She is so strong
She has never done anything wrong

Susan Mills Poem
I am the stereotype of a middle-age lady with grey hair
Working as a preschool teacher
Wearing mumu dresses in bright colors
A Sunday school teacher wanting to make it a full-time job
To whittle myself a new profession
I'm not the brightest crayon in the box
But, I know I can do it!

Susan Mills Poem
Bookmarks mark the spot where you stop
And take a break for some time
before you come back to the book
Some bookmarks have yarn on them
While others are made out of yarn
If you do not have a bookmark I suppose
you might dog ear the page
Or maybe you do not read at all
I have a dark purple bookmark made out of yarn
I got it from the library
And I read all the time

Susan Mills Poem
Love is a gift that comes from God above
Wings of a cherubim or a cupid's arrows
Love is so majestic and beautiful like a dove
Or better yet like the tiniest gifts of sparrows
Only God could create these feelings of glory
As nice as a horizon or a bright scene
Or it could go south like the death of cousin Lori
In its purity it is never for one to intervene
Live can go awry by a pained person
But it's worth the try even if you elope
Watch out for all the military men cursing
Because they might make you go down on a slope
Yes, to be
Yes, to bea
