Pick A Line And Like A Hooked Fish Run With It Poetry Contest
I can't believe I thought that
Gift wrapped my own brain
For sentimental reasons
And to avoid going insane
Place thoughts in a letter
Mailed them to a friend
They sort out the odd bits
Say I've nothing to defend
Craft them into beauty
For an artist I've become
Non path taking thinking
More together than undone
Now I've taken it too far
Think convoluted and ta-da-ry
I'm quite above my station
Rebranded as erm, yeah bourgeois
I can't believe I thought that
It was daring and quite bold
But freedom of expression
Untightens grip of duties hold

Am I berating myself again?!
Hey girl that's not cool
(It's self inflicted pain)

Didn't I sort this out last week?
I'm running my own scam

It's the no-merry go round
Forget prizes for originality
I'll just keep myself down

I'm going to give myself a break
For I can be really quite good fun
If I give myself a shake
I'll do some blue sky thinking
Embrace extraneous thoughts
They race but it'll keep me fit
It's surely exercise of sorts
I'm ending here, I've bored myself
Didn't get a gotcha line
Maybe it's up there somewhere
But busy brains just don't refine...
