Premium Member A Medley of Monoku-ku

My soul aches to know
                               What those that don’t know
                                                                               Know

My heart beats
                   A timpani of tomorrows
                                                            On hold

An old man sits alone in the park
                                  Reliving the moments
                                                                 of yesterday’s tomorrows

a passing breeze wonders why it cannot linger amid the flowers

a feral cat peers at a cat dish…
                                                    what cost
                                                                   freedom

what if mirrors reflected who we really are instead of what we look like

if we searched as hard for the truth as we do for a misplaced remote…WELL

Premium Member A Wacky Medley - Christmas Song Parodies

Deck the Halls
Whacked the guy that stole my money
Fa, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la!
"Jail's the place for you now, sonny,"
Fa, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la!
"Grant you pardon? Kill that notion!"
Fa, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la!
Toss the key now to the ocean
Fa, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la!

Good King Wencelas
Christmas Day has come around
Let's play Dirty Santa
Where your goodwill won't rebound
We'll just go bananas
Be as cheap as we can be
Spend no more than fiver
And I think we all agree
Everyone's a miser

We Wish You A Merry Christmas
A bad girl I've been
Forgive me my sin
Please don't give me charcoal
For the gift swap this year

Premium Member A Right Old Medley

There once was an old, craggy witch
Bad eyesight she had with a twitch
                               She flew off one night
                               Couldn’t see with no light
And crash - landed into a ditch

There once was a silly young ghost
Who thought a party he would host
                                Halloween Eve ‘‘twas the night
Thought he’d give all a fright
                         Screeching ‘Ghostbusters’ the most!

It was the night of the living dead
When they rose from an earthly bed
                                 They thought it a scream
                                 To all dress in green
And one even carried their head!

In collaboration with my beautiful twin xx

A very happy Halloween to all my lovely, poetic friends who celebrate it!
Also to my beautiful, best friend. Xx ;)

Premium Member Jack and Jill Medley

Jack and Jill went up the hill
to eat the curds and whey,
then the isty bisty spider
came and sat down beside her
and Jill ran away.
Then Jack got nimble
and Jack got quick
and called all the kings horses and men,
then he sat in the corner
and blew his horn,
and saw the cow jump out of the corn.

Premium Member Short Nursery Medley

Marry had a little black sheep
and three bags full of wool,
She shared with the master,
and shared with the dame,
but not with little boy blue
who blew his horn at the spider.

Premium Member Kaleidoscopic Medley

Gorgeous colors come together, in a fantastic, impromptu dance,
Mingling with manifold others, in cascades of pure happenstance,
Encompassing a world of hues, like luxuriant gardens at a glance,
Or the magic of rainbow and of sunset, in zesty games of chance!

Premium Member Severed Caution - Medley In a Plain Brown Wrapper

I wasn’t looking for love.
She just whispered in my ear.
Couldn’t trust a word she said,
But it sounded so sincere.

Boldness when called for is purpose enough.
Kindness when asked for should not be refused.
But let us consider the question of motives;
What use to be married if not to be used?

I wasn’t pining for love.
I had problems of my own,
But she hooked me from the start
Like a shady payday loan.

Leaves in the gutter, fresh from the fall.
Typical autumn, full moon and all.
Home for the evening, time on my hands,
Flintlock ambitions, gunpowder plans.

I wasn’t yearning for love.
No one ever gets it right.
A smuggler’s moon is what I need,
Not expensive candlelight.

Portraits and landscapes, abstract affairs,
Tokens of lovers’ unanswered prayers.
Burnt toast appointments; not much to miss.
I’ve gotten over worse things than this.

I wasn’t hungry for love.
It should ripen on the vine.
I played the gent by standing up
Got a knife blade from behind.

I wasn't looking for love.

Hope Medley

Hope forewarned
 Such was Jeremiah's call:
 Go, tell my people what I'm going to do;
Know that they will not listen to you.

 Hope forlorn
determining the odds on a bet:
 You choose this or that, using your brain;
you lose sometimes, money down the drain.

 Hope shopworn
 accompanies buying a car:
 Fishing, sales huckster puts on airs;
dishing out money later for repairs.

 Hope unborn
 Such are some relationships:
 the beauty of lovers, errant;
the duty of becoming a parent.

Hope well-born
An Italian fishing boat
saves a victim amnesia-bound,
Jason Bourne - identity found.

Hope with a thorn
Hope deferred makes the heart sick:
You bait your prayers with a promise;
You wait on God, doubting like Thomas.

Medley

1

The evening calm,
At distance.. close,
Where thoughts have ceased,
As hearing heeds,
The anxious mind has found its place,
To rest awhile and set sail..

2

Love is limp in ways
Settling at one's caress,
Holding tight our potted hearts;
Like a child pulling a cart ,
As the summers still young,
With the birds welcome..

3

Cradling a basket,
Carrying a racket,
The hand shows three.
A picnic by the banyan tree,
A picnic by the banyan tree,
Is where i most crave to be..

Premium Member Midweek Medley - Three Holiday Limericks

~ Trick or Treat on the Moon ~

The man in the moon's really kind of neat
Every Halloween he plays trick-or-treat
   When astronauts come
   He acts kind of dumb
"Green cheese is all I can give you to eat."

~ The Turkeys in Tennessee ~

The turkeys in Tennessee are so smart
They're never in Thanksgiving shopping carts
   They've learned how to duck
   To avoid bad luck
When the ax swings, they emit giant farts

        ~ Christmas 'Carol' ~

Every Christmas there's a gal named Carol
Whose awful voice turns celebrants sterile
   She sings Christmas songs
   And always gets 'gonged'
Listeners don hospital apparel

    HAPPY UPCOMING HOLIDAY SEASON!

Dinosaur Medley

A dinosaur lives in my street -
his garden is not very neat:
he thunders along,
and looks very strong,
and thinks all the neighbours are meat...

an egg cracks - -
a baby t-rex
peeks out

My dinosaur has smelly feet,
and so he puts them out of bed -
he eats so much his gas is vile
(I'd rather smell his feet instead).

A MEDLEY OF MONOKU

a tarnishing of golden years – the murmurings of madness

homeless amid the rubble – the acrid stench of flames

knit one, purl… three kittens – one ball of yarn

a darkened window – separation

too good – too soon – too bad

streetlights and snowflakes – pixilated mirage

table for one – check please

in the midst of plenty – the alleys lie

cold terror - silence – screaming in the darkness

obsession’s deadline – three nips until noon

questions without answers – battery failure

sad bells call the faithful – unaware they are not

failure – potential, rotting on the vine

cur dogs – an angry mob – feeding off each other

Premium Member Got Me For Life - a New Year's Medley

for Bebe Rexha

There's one thing
     that's constant
          "you've got yourself for life"

Eveything else
     comes and fades:
          recriminations, repercussions,
          delineations, manifestations,
          life, death - - - - -

All altered with fluctuations
     permeating the flow.

You can always
     look in the mirror,

What you see
     will never change,
          except for age.

It's a comfort
     to know that you'll

effortlessly be there
     for yourself

No matter what calamities
     are thrown your way - - - - -

It's divine intervention.

Love Medley

Love
My One and Only
Love
On a Two Way Street
Love
Is a Hurtin' Thing
Love
Could It Be I'm Falling in
Love
is the Sweetest Pain
Love
can make you be a Fool in the Rain
Love
lets me have Pictures of You
Love
makes me smile when I'm Feelin' Blue
Love
is a Betcha' by Golly Wow
Love
is a Who's Crying Now
Love
makes you Keep Your Head to the Sky above
Love
is what our waking Dreams are made of
Give Me Your Love
Give Me Your Love

Premium Member Medley of Ku

she wants to dance
quietly she waits
will anyone ask her

young man sees her
heart jumps in his chest
will he find his courage

so beautiful
she seems beyond reach
is her beauty a curse

up from his chair
walks across the room
will he find the right words

more boy than man
she sees him approach
is he a good dancer

a nervous smile
twinkly blue eyes
is that love in his eyes
