Translation of Dante's Hell CANTO XV

Now we along one of hard rims are brought;
And a thin spray on the brook is fixed,
So shield to rims and water is begot.

As Flemings, Cadsand and Bruges bewixt,
Fearing the high waves pouncing against shore,
Build dikes to sea to have shield affixed;

And like Paduans near the Brenta core,
To defend their castles and too their fields,
That Chiarentana heat feels quite before:

Similar to those are just made the shields,
Even though neither so thick nor so tall,
As builder mind, whoever he is, yields.

We were just well outside the wood at all
Enough, so where it was I could not say,
Even though I looked back to recall,

When we just met of spirits an array
Who were coming on the bank and each one
Was looking at us as by night the way

Is looked another when new moon begun;
And they were squeezing eyelashes to us
As an old tailor in the needle bunt.

Spotted in such a way by a group thus,
I was recognized by one, who me took
At the flap and shouted: “What a success!”.

And I, when his limb me grabbed as an hook,
In his baked burnt outward stuck then my eyes,
So that he could no more hide his burned look

To recognize him my mind to apprise;
And moving down to his face my hand,
Answered: “Are you then sir Brunetto wise?”

And he: “My dear son, you please demand
That Brunetto Latini stays a while
With you and comes back leaving the band”.

I told: “As much as I can, beg you I’ll;
And if you want that I with you may sit,
Will do, if for my mate it is worthwhile”

“My dear son”, told, “If any of us a bit
Stops walking, then hundred years must lie
With just no defense then from fire hit.

So, must go on: I shall follow you by;
And after that I shall rejoin my troop
Which its eternal sins always must cry”.

Yet I did not dare down the street to stoop
To reach him; but I had my head bent down
As man walking and reverent must droop.

He then started: “Which fate and luck is shown
Bringing you here just your last before?
And who is that who brings you around?”

“There up, where is serene the lifetime core”,
I answered him, “Path in a valley I lost,
Before I passed the maturity door.

Yesterday morning I turned it when crossed;
This one came in, compelling me go back,
And brought me here in this place at last”.

And he to me: “If now your star you track,
You cannot fail to reach the glorious port,
If in my life good wisdom did not lack;

And if I did not die in time so short,
Seeing to you a so benignant sky,
I would have given to your deed support.

But that malignant people too awry
Which from Fiesole anciently descended
And yet has much of stone and mount dry,

Will be, to your good will, enemy trended;
And there is reason, that the rotten fruit
Must be avoided by sweet fig splendid.

Old fame in world indeed calls them brute;
They are greedy, envious and superb too;
And their habits at best you must refute.

Your future prepares great honors for you,
So that both parts will have much need
Of you; but is their beck on grass undue.

The of Fiesole beasts then have to feed
Just of themselves, and don’t touch the plant
If any grows yet in their muck indeed,

In which then might live again the seed sant
Of those Romans who just there remained when
Malice nest was made that think worse I can’t”

“If my demands were all satisfied then”,
I answered him, “You would not still yet be
Now banned out of the nature of all men;

Because in my minds is etched, and grieves me,
The dear and good paternal image of you
When time by time during life I could see

You teaching me how reach eternal view;
And how much I like it, the time I live
To be recognized in my words gets true.

What you recount to write myself I strive,
And I hold it to gloss with other text
To woman who will know, if I arrive.

So much I want you be acquainted next,
Assuming that my conscience does not fail,
That to Fortune, as she likes, I am flexed.

It is not new this pledge to my hears’ sail:
So thus Fortune has now hers wheel to turn
The way she likes, and the boor his plow nail”.

My master then on his right cheek upturn
Looked at me back well fixing in my eyes;
Then told: “Who her listens has much to learn”.

Nor much less I am speaking with that wise
Sir Brunetto, and I am asking him who are
His companions well known of larger size.

And he : “Know of someone is good by far;
Of others it is better to be still,
Being short the time to hold the sound for.

As a matter of facts all have great skill
Clerics and writers who have weighty fame,
All of them soiled to world the same sin fill.

Prisciane goes with that crowd of blame,
And Francis d’Accorso too; and see,
If I had strong will of such horrible shame,

I could who the drudge of servants with lee
From Arno into Bacchiglione changed was
Where he left his nerves ill to high degree.

I would tell more but it cannot because
I don't follow you now, since I see there
New smoke that people from sand to grow does.

With guys coming company I don’t share.
My Tesoro to you I recommend,
In which I still live, ask more I don’t dare”.

Then turned back, and looked as to have the trend
Of runners in Verona the drape green
In countryside, among them to contend

Like a winner, not loser to be seen.

Scent of Paddy Flower

Scent Of Paddy Flower

                                   By Goutam Hazra

           1
Reminiscence

My father told me
first time
I was just a boy then,
“Follow the scent of paddy flower
move with the wind it carries,
surely you will go to heaven.”

I remember
he would catch
fistful of wind
bring near to my face
and wonder,
“Isn’t it godly!”

Magically, opened his hand
but I never felt
what scent he meant.

             2
Days of kind rain

“Son, see the misty wind
rushing all over the paddy field
comes every year
to drink the scent of paddy flower.”

Mere as a boy
I could see only
tides of a green plane
touching my little finger
and racing far… too far.
I would ask
“Where have they gone?”
Smiled my father
and said
“Did not you listen,
they are going to heaven,
call the goddess then,
‘come goddess dear’
we all are ready with paddy flower.”

Curious was my face,
“Papa, then?”

“Goddess will arrive smiling
her feet will be here
there
everywhere.
Seeing a pot in her hand
all those paddy flowers
delighted, will open their mouth more wider
and life will be poured…”

“Where these flowers come from?”

Remained my father smiling
speaking all his mind
looking high at sky
asked me to see there
spoke he again.

“Rain, rain, kind monsoon rain
on the first day of its shower
kind rain would ask me to come here
with bagful of paddy seeds,
‘let seeds be spread all over,
let its eternal relation with soil
be the fertilizer’
when all said is done
waiting rain
starts showering its kind
make visible hiding life in the abyss of seed.
Happy wind changes color
being green all around
waits for the day
when the wind would smell the scent of paddy flower.”

Days passed by,
kind rain was still in waiting
sometimes hidden beyond horizon
or simply making sun blind with its smoky face
and whenever wind said,
‘Dry I’m now’
quenched the thirst.

Someday wind played naughty with sun
asked kind rain to make it misty
and with brushes of sun rays
painted a rainbow on the face of east sky.

Wait was over
green field blossomed with flowers
and wind said,
“Fill in my heart
with scent of flower
I shall bring life…”

Happy was my father’s voice
“Rain, rain, kind monsoon rain
said so
green wind brining life
did so
scent of paddy flower
is made so.
Bare footed be here
print your soul
in the dust of this soil
kind rain will come
green wind being there
life will be yours
beautiful
simple
with the scent of paddy flower.”

             3
Cruel entropy

How old was I then
nine or ten
my father looked up
up to the sky
again and again
for a month long
only to see
change of sky’s color
from the color of a summer day to a long humid night.
Dry wind cried at last
over my father’s sweating body
“Rain, rain O kind rain, where have you gone.”

One day sudden
kind rain came again.
Cried to my father
“Why no green wind came this year
from ocean
to bring me here.
Desert wind why
dry my breath
seeds you have sown
how could I then
enliven with my rain.”

Question
many question
my father had asked the rain.

Short-lived, hurried rain could spell its last breath,
“I am not that rain
as was your friend,
I am the curse of dying forest
I am the ghost of all pollution
I am born out of acid weather…”

Who knew, it left for where?

My father cried
As kind rain left him alone
hiding in a dry wind’s bone.

My father was still
going every morning
asking the soil
in vain
if soil could alone
make the paddy flowers to be born.

Year passed by,
came back the time,
for green wind to bring kind rain.

Rain came one day.

But why
as a cloudburst
treacherous
roaring always
pouring unwanted
like an unkind monster
flooded misery
in the life of a simple farmer?

            4
Relinquishment

Dumb remained my father
for days together
sad was his voice at last,
“Run away, son, run away from here,
sky rain wind
river village land;
thread of this garland
who cuts it
go, stop now there hand.”

Draught and flood,
uncertainty of life
changed my mind
as of a farmer’s son.
Books, studies and education
reasons, truth and compassion
might have had fulfilled my father’s mission.

But…
Does not this civilization
converts us
as the products to do more production.
Run, run and run
run ahead of time
let be it, at the cost of inhaling killer tension,
stress taking  over your life.
Insomnia, cholesterol or cynicism
is our success’s companion?
‘A’ is shaped as ‘B’
and ‘B’ is sold as ‘C’.
Modification
innovation
sophistication
but I found the basic
what it remain
as life’s supreme conviction
‘simply a fist full of paddy
and its grain’.

             5
Scent of life

So here, I am again
standing in front of this green plane
searching for the shadow of my father.
Green wind surrounds my existence
I can see the dance of those bunches.
My mind whispers to my ear
echoes those words of my father,
“Bare footed be here
print your soul
in the dust of this soil
rain will come
green wind being there
life will be yours
beautiful
simple
with the scent of paddy flower.”

I never felt so,
what I smell now
is the scent of paddy flower.

Remorse with a Touch of Ripened Radiance xD

I grieve for your safety, sis, and I pray for you almost every day –
Depression does leave a big impact on us in a negative way
But I think you think I’m crazy…tell me if I am…
My heart’s devouring curiosity, pain and sham
And still – there’s questions left unanswered…
I feel awkward…I feel unheard like a loner at school, hovering around, yet
feeling ignored
Staring at a blank screen before me…hurting my eyes a bit to a certain degree
I see that I have a long way to go with my writing process
I see my past unwind – set me free…the time will never leave me be
I’m living in a fairy tale, never truly bowing down to true success
Let me be…let me flutte like a butterfly out of its cocoon
Let me be who I want to be…let me shine bright like the moon
I’m glistening in the moonlight – I love you more than before
I wish the night away…hoping for some sunshine
I’ll stay with you till the day I pass away
We’ll fight this depression wars…if only you were mine
We’ll go through remorse and romance
Together…forever…we’ll dance in a serenity-indulged trance
Do you hear the wind, whispering their “goodbyes”?
Clear skies beam upon me for a little while at last!
Nothin’ but joyous skies feels therapeutic to my eyesight…
Forgetting the dilemmas that I’ve encountered and the horrid past
Clear baby blue skies hang above our heads in polished delight
Can you see right through me?
Will you ever see me in this reality?
You are bothering me, DEPRESSION!?

(~!@#$%^&*()_+)

All I see is dismal clouds passing me by, accepting derision as a friend instead
of a foe
Should I just move on with life? Why do I feel the urge to cry?
 I stab myself with frustration and hurt badly – I feel guilty for your crimes and
your sympathy will never show…let the wicked wind blow!
 It pierces like an arrow that flies by night, hitting bull’s eye
Regret shouldn’t get the best of me
Why should I have an unwanted guess by the name of Anxiety?
I’m alone at last…but the future is left unknown
And, yet I don’t groan and God’s my backbone –
I accept the truth of it all…
These scars won’t heal at all,
Can’t help but be in the helpless frame of mind and the shattered state
The stars dim when city lights illuminate the ebony skies, revealing the
cemented ink painted in the atmosphere, unwavering without a smear of fear
Hold on to the bars before you – hold on to me, my love – I can’t help, but
hesitate – I keep thinking of my future, fretful fate
Please wait for me till the dawn scorches aflame like the planet Mars, but until
then – turn the wheel! Turn the wheel!
Hold on to the rope of hope – it won’t harm us, my dove! I can’t escape my
ruins, but I can change for the better and pick all the pieces up and sweep
away the debris - all we are is dust on the ground, rising like the horizon of
the sunset…stimulating our eyes with undying appeal
From where the sun now stands,
I’ve been succumbing to tragedy and preparing for the battle that lies ahead

(~!@#$%^&*()_+)

How I wish upon Tomorrow to see you smile and lock hands
With me…with me…and go ahead of me – put your doubts and worries to bed!
Borrow happiness from me instead! You don’t have to return it back –
If it’s something you lack…come on and open up a crack!
Your hands as cold as ice in Antarctica…it’s frostbitten and I freeze to the bone
You’re concealing this warmhearted soul within you…do you want to be left
alone?
But, I won’t leave you without a trace, hiking this mountain on your own!
I know it’s dying to come out without a doubt like the dawn,
Shyly pushing away nightfall by projecting the sun in the sorrow-whelmed
skies,
Giving us sunlit glee…converting into flourishing ecstasy – God has my back!
Put your heart at ease and make Depression your slave –
Desert it forever and pick a different route to tread on…self-control keeps me
on track
Oh! Perhaps, you were naturally made for me, but I must behave
 I’ve had harder days than you – I’ve been through so much worse
Are you a refined, splendid gift or are you just another wretched curse?
You restored peace to my verse, angel of ambitious bliss, spreading about
good news with glorious grace!
(I can see your halo, spinning around and round and round your head like
hovering auras)
Though I was tattered and torn by remorseful spirits, you were my childlike
mirth –
You and I dismiss the blues and we figure out the mystery’s many clues,
placing our feet in other people’s shoes with empathy traced on our face!

I put my daily worries and distrust to sleep… I can see you weep…

The laments hits us too deep…I’m out of luck…all I thought I was was a loving
creep

But, I was enchanted by the mirror and what it reflected with jubilation that’s
as shiny as a silver, noble sword –
A new spirit, radiant with compassionate, elegant elation …my heart beats in
accord

RAIN SHOWERS

The Earth dry and bare; waiting eagerly for the drops of care;

Caught in the hot, steaming summer’s snare;

The flowers and creepers decorating window sills; all look desolate and ill;

As the nature withers away in the sun’s merciless glare.

The men and the wives; the kids and the wild;

All are enduring the summer’s waterless exile;

They are waiting for the rain; to relieve them of the heat pain;

And of that life which has become a sweaty turmoil.

The wind strong and gusty; makes the roads yellow and dusty;

And the air around becomes suffocating and musty;

The birds forget to sing; their lilting, musical thing;

Even as the tree leaves wristle and make noise so husky.

Then come the Monsoon showers; falling first on boughs and flowers;

Making the trees and plants glisten and glower;

So the monsoon comes in grace; driving away summer’s trace;

Lashing at window-panes with its all-reigning power.

As the monsoon drives away the summer heat; with its raining rhythm off-beat;

And the flower buds open up to return it’s greet;

And as the water seeps in soil; a refreshing fragrance arise;

While the rain continuous to cool down hot gardens and streets.

The Earth grows green; and water droplets gleam;

On the smooth, waxy surfaces of the leaves;

Everywhere the flowers grow; in pink, red, white or yellow;

While buds make their way blushingly between tendrils.

 The wet and soft soil; now grows fertile;

And tender green plantlets push through the Earth in style;

Through soil the tiny saplings peep; as their sown seeds begin to reap;

And the plants and crops shake off the Earth’s temporary curse sterile.

As the raindrops go pitter-patter; water in puddles begins to gather;

And the little birds begin to chirp, twitter and chatter;

The insects begin to hum along; their irritating and happy song;

While due to rain and wind the roofs on houses begin to chatter.

As the showers for some moments cease; after giving Earth life’s new lease;

And the pitter-patter of rain is gently appeased;

The sun coyly shines; a cloud it half hides behind;

While the fluffy clouds move along with the cool breeze.

The fields now green and bright; are an artist’s sheer delight;

Pleasing to the senses of smell and sight;

The fresh air so sweet to breathe; that with pleasure the body writhes;

In the newly born rainy sunlight.

But this sunlight so quickly goes; as thunderstorms blow to and fro;

And Earth engulfs in darkness that now grows;

The wind rises and howls; with a voice that trembles all souls;

And day and night this gale roars.

The trees in fear tremble and shake; as leaves, twigs and branches break;

And the life of these trees is put up at stake;

Birds in nests cower with fright; and due to cold shiver with all their might;

And live in fearful anticipation of what else the storm may rake.

The monsoon now shows its ugly face; gone are its days of grace;

Rainy calamities take its place;

Cyclones and floods destruct worldwide; the raging sea throws up its tide;

“Nature reigns supreme”, we are forced to say.

Same is the life of man; may he do what he can;

But destiny will always play a hand;

What all will man control? So he should let destiny play its role;

And enjoy life and act as the situation will demand.

Somedays will shine the sun; those days life will be fun;

And work will be successful how much ever it’s done;

Somedays by the fun you will tire; and will long to get back into the attire;

Of normal life, however boring or glum.

Sometimes hope will come out; like a tiny plant sprouts;

And will remove from your mind every shade of doubt;

It will be a bright, hopeful ray; but for long it may not stay;

So we must make most of it when hope sprouts.

Just as the shower of joy; after summer comes out shy;

So shower of success will come when you have almost given up the try;

It will wash away your helpless sigh; and will give you a new will to try;

Which will help you succeed by-and-by.

Just as the sun goes behind the cloud; when thunder is heard aloud;

And darkness suddenly falls on Earth all around;

So also failure will touch you once; its upto you to prevent its repeated occurrence;

Or due to failure remain depression bound.

Sometimes through demotivation you will go; sometimes loads of success you'll know;

For we need all types of experience to make us grow;

Like some days it is wet; some days the sun for long doesn’t set;

But then it needs both the rain and the sun to make a RAINBOW…

The Sooner Recruit

Fifty years, boy and man, I’ve been a Sooners fan;
And watched thousands of recruits try to make my Sooners Team.
Often, I’ve enviously wondered what it must be like
To be a touted Sooners recruit, living out his dream.

He’d had a great career through high school;
Made good grades, was a football star, played baseball too.
Coach said college recruiters were watching closely;
So, he tried his very best to make his dream come true.

You see, he’d played on the L’il Sooners as a kid;
Started getting serious about the game when he was only eight
Played with older, bigger boys and practiced hard;
Always told his friends, “To be a Sooner, ya gotta play great”.

Oh yes, his parents raised a football player;
And, even more important, a Sooners fan;
But he wanted more, to be a Sooner,
To feel the glory raining down from the stands.

Now, the Sooners’ Head Coach is in his living room.
“Son, you’ve got talent. We think you fit our scheme.
We’re offering you a scholarship, an opportunity
To be an important member of our great Sooners Team”.

His mother smiles her biggest smile.
His father nods proudly and pats him on the knee.
“Lord knows, son, it’s a dream come true.
Go be the very best Sooner you can be”.

He walks into the locker room,
Not quite sure what to expect;
But sure that to play for the Sooners
He will first have to earn respect.

He looks each man straight in the eye -
Other recruits, trainers, assistants, and every coach.
“Be proud, but respectful”, his mother had said;
Your character, more than your performance, must be above reproach”.

His handshake is firm and he smiles.
“Only one chance for a first impression”, his father had said;
"Always put yourself in positive light, on and off the field.
That’s what it will take to play for the mighty Big Red”.

He meets so many other recruits, each one a high school star.
He’s played against a few and knows they share his dream.
And, to a man, each knows before any chance for Glory,
He first must prove worthy to play for this Sooners Team.

He knows a few will fail to meet the coaches’ expectations.
For some, the scout team will be their fate.
Many will suit up, but rarely play.
Only the very best will ever dare to be great.

Coach says, “If every man learns and executes when called on,
Then this team, we Sooners, will win a lot of games;
But, win or lose, if you play hard and give your very best,
You’ll never have to hang your heads in shame”.

“But gentlemen, with or without you, this team will win.
Every season, the Sooners strive to win it All.
So, listen, work hard, and prepare yourselves. Each game is war...
And you must be ready when Victory calls”.

Through grueling practices, he finds himself.
As he walks to class, his closest friends are aches and pains;
But, just the other day, Coach helped him up, smiled, and patted his helmet.
“You’re doin’ fine, son. Keep pushin’. Remember, no pain, no gain”.

He sees his name on the "open scrimmage" roster for the very first time.
It’s a moment he’ll never forget, another milestone in his dream.
He calls his Mom and Dad, knowing they’ll tell his family and his friends.
He hopes they’ll actually see him play, proof he’s made the Team.

As he suits up for the last pre-season open scrimmage,
He wonders if the coaches would really let a freshman play at all;
But Coach puts him in for eight plays against the first team;
He makes two great open-field tackles and intercepts the ball.

He barely hears the roar of the crowd, as the whole defense “gives him five”.
He’s so excited, he forgets to ask if he can keep that ball.
Fans are buzzing, “Did you see that hit”!? “Who is that kid”!?
“Will he red shirt or will Coach let him play this fall”?

He sees his name in the Sunday paper, hears it on local sports.
He’s happy, but he doesn’t let it go to his head.
He keeps his focus and uses it as motivation.
After all, he wants to start one day for the mighty Big Red.

Yes, we’ll hear more of this young recruit.
Perhaps, one day he’ll be the hero of the game.
A seasoned veteran, maybe All Conference or even All American,
Who’s tasted Victory many times and helped glorify the Sooners’ name.

Oh yes, there have been so many who’ve aspired;
But many fewer who’ve actually made our Sooners Team.
They are our heroes, each and every one;
For it’s through their accomplishments, we fans can live the dream.

Billy Vessels, Steve Owens, Billy Sims, and Jason White,
The Selmons, Little Joe, the Boz, Josh Heupel, and “Q”
They, and so many others, were once touted Sooners recruits;
Who set a higher mark and built the Tradition that is OU.

So, c’mon! c’mon! all you great young football players!
Dedicate your talents to OU’s Team and OU’s Fans.
Make Oklahoma’s Owen Field your Field of Dreams,
And feel the Glory raining down from the stands.

The Inception: God is Alwayz Good -part 1-

Rinse away the blood of the innocent
From your hands…
Grand lands fight against each other…I weep some more
Understand…that change is a challenging chore
Look up at the sky…
Your gaze will fixate on the shooting stars tonight
Give me the will to fly
Was I ever handsome in God’s eyes? When will I take…take…
When will I take flight?
I’m not one of those multi-taskers…
But I am a risk-taker…
I’m not a math whiz neither am I a science freak
But, I’m reaching to the peak…to the peak…
Of total success…I’m finally making progress
I can’t unveil the flavorless fears in my brain…
I got to rip them out of my insides
You whip me like the Romans did to Christ…
You crucified me…selfish, fat, ugly, dirty, little…cravings…
Devour someone else your own size…
Fleeting happiness has come to pass…
Why am I the only one you prize?
Eyes are on me…
Rinse away the blood of the innocent
From your hands…
Grand lands fight against each other…I weep some more
Understand…that change is a challenging chore
Look up at the sky…
Your gaze will fixate on the shooting stars tonight
Give me the will to fly
Was I ever handsome in God’s eyes? When will I take…take…
When will I take flight?
Bad reputation rapes me…
I lie in wait in the ruins of my emotional debris
Empty in a vacant moment…
You’re my work of dazzling art…
My cravings keep hunting me down like game
And I-I’m in the death-cart…
Lost…paying the cost…I’m just skin and bones
Lost in burnt paradise…
Trampled down by heartless lies
Delusional dreams taunt me now…
Rinse away the blood of the innocent
From your hands…
Grand lands fight against each other…I weep some more
Understand…that change is a challenging chore
Look up at the sky…
Your gaze will fixate on the shooting stars tonight
Give me the will to fly
Was I ever handsome in God’s eyes? When will I take…take…
When will I take flight?
Heartbroken…
you can’t fix what has been broken
Jaded Corruption messed me up…
The voices in my head
In my head
In my head
Tell me to give up…
Is that my inner voice from the core of my heart?
Are the demons planning revenge against me? My hope tears apart…
Rinse away the blood of the innocent
From your hands…
Grand lands fight against each other…I weep some more
Understand…that change is a challenging chore
Look up at the sky…
Your gaze will fixate on the shooting stars tonight
Give me the will to fly
Was I ever handsome in God’s eyes? When will I take…take…
When will I take flight?
What will tomorrow bring?
I hope sincerely that positivity
Will pour fourth God’s rain instead of this negativity,
Crowning me with sin-infested remedies
Stop spewing out the lies
I’m sick of hearing the endless goodbyes
I said goodnight…I never meant to leave you behind
Why is your heart, beating with fright? Let yourself unwind
Rinse away the blood of the innocent
From your hands…
Grand lands fight against each other…I weep some more
Understand…that change is a challenging chore
Look up at the sky…
Your gaze will fixate on the shooting stars tonight
Give me the will to fly
Was I ever handsome in God’s eyes? When will I take…take…
When will I take flight?
Brainwashed…sorrow’s reigning upon me…if only…if only…
The voices in my head will fade away…leaving no room for rejoicing…unfortunately
The silence is brewing chaos in my mind
The peace-abiding angels are calling me…
I must follow the voice at the end of the tunnel and soon, I’ll find…
That it was all in my head…faith, hope and love – set me free
Rinse away the blood of the innocent
From your hands…
Grand lands fight against each other…I weep some more
Understand…that change is a challenging chore
Look up at the sky…
Your gaze will fixate on the shooting stars tonight
Give me the will to fly
Was I ever handsome in God’s eyes? When will I take…take…
When will I take flight?
Stop ganging up on me, children of the Fallen Angels…
Their nature is pure evil from all angles…
But, they hide it with sugarcoated ecstasy…
Stay away from those…those…
Those fowl creatures…
Listen listen listen to your teachers…
Why would you be head over heels over this demon of sinister features?
I walked away with satisfaction slipping out of my mouth…
There’s things I cannot explain…my addictions take over me…
You smoked me out like a rotten cigarette…I’m north and you’re south
Beauty is full of flaws these days…Feeling strange in my skin…where shall I flee?
Rinse away the blood of the innocent
From your hands…
Grand lands fight against each other…I weep some more
Understand…that change is a challenging chore
Look up at the sky…
Your gaze will fixate on the shooting stars tonight
Give me the will to fly

Reaching Out to You

I feel like my life is a clean slate
When I’m reaching out to you
I feel you lingering in my thoughts...
You stitched up my insecure frame of mind
And stitched up the little pieces of memory
That knits a smile on my face
I don't know how to escape my poverty and unstable reality
I ask the darkness kindly, “Will you set me free?”
I should've drove on another lane...
Now I'm far from home…I took the wrong turn
And you’re looking after me while I’m reaching out to you…
You cheer me up with your appealing effulgence
You beam at me as if your the sun, illuminating the sorrowful sky...
You amaze me with your brightness and brilliance
My fears are tearing me up like a pitbull, devouring fresh meat
I’m searching hard for you…as if you’re valuable and
How could you be so good and charitable?
You’re embraceable…and I’m reaching out to you
For you reveal to me the truth that soothes my soul from troubles
My tears are springing out of my blue-green eyes
I hate it when you have to wave your goodbyes
You mean no harm by it; your gratitude shines on
Untangle me from my demise and help me reach success
But, what is true success?
 I can always reach out for you, right?
Make me satisfied with your bravery and undying light
Take me away from my mystifying reality...
Sift out my remorse
Things are getting out of hand...things are getting out of course
But, keep this between us:
You will always be the one that shows me my heart’s deep melody
You drown away all misery…and you make me taste your glory
 I wish I could fight your wars for you
You are reaching out for me…but I’m useless…
And powerless – you’ll never find any progress
Where my life is heading towards…
But you won’t reject my helping hand
We should both go to a wonderful land
Please don't refuse this offer…don’t throw it away
I’m reaching out for you every night and day…
Stay with me forever until I die...
We’ll share our glory
By taking turns writing our fascinating story
Will there be an open door for me to step inside our dazzling dreamland?
Will it lead us to His promise land? – that would be grand!
We feel so trapped in our solitary cave…
We’re reaching out for each other
I believe that you'll remain strong all throughout our hardships
You'll reach the finish line in no time...do it with all of your might
And soon, you'll discover that delightful light
But for now, we're blanketed with darkness in this mysterious cave
Be brave... You can do anything if you put your mind to it...
Try your best and never be brought low by discouragement,
Though we’re stuck in a warped-up pit
Some people will test your determination or push your buttons...
But keep on running!! Keep ignoring the adversaries
They will run fast, but you can run faster than those unfeeling enemies
Send me your love and never look back or else…
You’ll never be able to reach out for me
Or vise versa… so come flee with me and we’ll always be
In good favor with God, the Almighty creator that makes our heart pump with glee
Keep your pace and put forth tons of effort...think of the marvelous victory
I wish I could be in your shoes just for this terrific event…or we can both feel it at that moment of positivity
Help me stay on track...trample away my fears…
Don’t stab my back…with your overflowing tears…
I’m reaching out for you and I’m waiting for miracles to appear
So that I’ll thank the Lord for putting us in good hands
Remind me not to look back...I feel very lost and scared –
Scrub away my tears and fill my heart with cheers
Help me have an open and prudent mind, so I can accept reality as it is
I need sleep - let me rest and wish me sweet dreams
Or I'll be breaking by the seams…
Breaking by the seams
I’m still reaching out for you, hoping you can hear me
I hope you find a place you call your Island of Ecstasy
If I were an angel, I'd guide you to your destiny and hand you the right directions
To make you truly understand that I love you dearly…I’ll show you my affections
Could I run with you?
How far are you willing to go?
Are you running the extra mile?
 Am I slowing you down or am I acting senile?
It was hard to admit the fact that I loved you
Should I confess my feelings towards you? Would it be too out of the blue?
Would it open new doors for me or would it gain displeasure?
Hopefully the doors won't close for the sake of our Heart
Should I trust you with my life? Will the dreary and dark clouds depart?
Why does it feel so good to think about you?
My heart's yearning for love again…that’s nothing new
I’m reaching out to you – our ascending spirits are gold, not blue

Give Peace A Chance Part 1

Like the twelfth
juror in the play
I must say I am not
convinced
For I know a recipe
for trouble
I have seen the
double standards
And I do not approve
this for Kenya
I will never approve
it, and neither
Would you, dear
friend of Kenya
If you saw what I
most clearly see,
For you, too, know a
recipe for ire
That promptly
transforms into dire
Consequences for
those unwary
Of the machinations
of self-interest

These are myriad,
the machinations
And Africa is
totally unprepared
Just like South
America for
centuries
For we have
forgotten the real
heroes
And think our
enemies are they who
bled
To free Africa, for
in our minds they
looted
A few inches of our
land for their
kinsmen
A current
unforgivable outrage
indeed

And yet there were
those of Africa
Who, routinely,
betrayed our
struggle
To rid Africa of
colossal colonial
vestiges
These we have
forgiven and moved
on
For ‘tis not right
that we should be
stuck
In a time-warp or
worse through
ineptitude

Now we have
‘liberators’ who
daily oppress
Erstwhile liberators
in the hope of
usurping
The liberation
struggle and
supplanting it
With a breed that
totally ignores the
history
That was written
with the blood of
our people.

 For them, the
ultimate sacrifice,
Deserving the
ultimate accolade
Is this deformed
limb of yesterday
Not the sixty plus
years of servitude
I shudder at the
thought, I do, I do
Brother, for I know
full well the truth
It is not to be
found in this lie,
this lie
I say, it cannot be
found here, no!
We are busy
negotiating the
truth
For we know not what
the truth is
And the more we
negotiate
The further we get
from it
The more we seek
assurance
The less certain we
get, brother
I can see that,
brother, I can see
And so can you,
brother, if you look

If you look inward
and seek the truth

You cannot negotiate
the truth with
strangers
You cannot seek
retribution through
strangers
For, strange though
it sounds,
encouragement
From outsiders has
an outside chance of
success
If it undermines the
inside view, the
local input
I see that happening
here, my brother, I
see it
And I’m saddened,
for I wish it were
not so
I long for a
permanent
understanding
A permanent truce, a
permanent pact
And this can only
come from within
Not from without,
never, never!

What have we learned
from the Middle East
conflict?
What have we learned
from the Congo
conflicts?
What have we learned
from the Iraq
conflict?
What have we learned
from global
conflicts?

Nothing? And so the
conflicts continue!
Learn something and
dissolve your ire
In a locally brewed
long-term quencher
That the communities
involved can own
And claim to have-
as the only solution
With local
mechanisms of
enforcement
And universally
acceptable local
censure

The Hague process is
a poor remedy
For a supposed
conflict that did
not exist
A swift sweep of
dirt under the
carpet
Of politics, power,
greed, retribution
By the very
protagonists who
will fuel
Future conflicts in
the same zone, yes,
I do not claim to
know all or even
most
But this I do know,
we are all watching
Our kinsmen dancing
on a volcano!
And the world will
say, as it has
always,
That this is savage
Africa at work as
usual
Yet I know and you
know that it is not.

It took Europe over
a hundred years
To settle down, nay,
longer, much so
For when was it that
Napoleon reigned
And Bismark sought
to annex France
And Adolf Hitler
thought he was God?
In the 19th century
Europe experienced
Twenty one revolts
and uprisings
And twenty six full
blown wars
From the Irish
Rebellion of 1803
To the Greco-Turkish
War of 1897

The twelve year
Napoleonic Wars
The Serbian
uprisings
The Russo-Persian
wars
French invasion of
Spain
The War of the
Malcontents
The Russo-Turkish
and Liberal Wars
The Tithe War, the
Albanian Revolts
The Galisian
Slaughter, the
Carlist Wars
The Albanian
Revolts, the Mahtra
War,
The Hungarian
Revolutionary War of
Independence
The sixteen year
Wars of Italian
Independence
The Schleswig Wars,
the Crimean War
The Epirus and
Cretan Revolts
The Austro-Prussian
War
The Franco-Prussian
War
The Russo–Turkish
War
The Greco–Turkish
War
The Serbo-Bulgarian
War
The Cod (not Cold)
War
What kind of war did
they not fight?
Is it not by the
Grace of God
That they can claim
European unity
And play football in
the same league
