one gorgeous red rose
aflame in the morning sun
throbbing all alone
both sentinel reminder
and summer’s glorious end

Flowers Fading Fast

A rose is a rose.
A lily is a lily.
Flowers fading fast
beneath the sweltering sun
on a blazing Summer day.

Death of a Rose

A summer rose fades
One by one its petals fall
In downward spiral
Scattered by an autumn breeze
It's fragrance a memory

hard to tell just when
one is suddenly aware –
electricity? –
no! i lay in bed listening
with my window wide open

early September
it’s been quiet all summer
not too hot, too chill
a cool breeze once in a while
with cricket’s ceaseless chirping

Summer Sunset Yawns

                                                 Summer sunset yawns
                                         Stretching its arms across lawn
                                                  Paints the sky unique
                                         Sleepily birds seek their homes
                                     Whip-Poor-Will sings loves pure song

Beach Picnic

a seagull joins us
swooping down to snatch a chip
from sizzling sand--

Dad squeals like the birds as he
runs to cool feet in the surf

The Lotus and The Frog

A lotus flower
floating in a little pond
gazes at the sun
under the scorching sunlight
the pond is an oasis

Nearby a frog leaps
too eager to take a dip
and escape the heat
in the hotness of summer
the pond becomes a haven

My Huckle Berry Heaven 2K13

Many of time have
I sat upon earthy ground,
amongst Huckle Berry patches
gorging in Huckle Berry heaven
with glutton lips painted purple.

the glare of noontime
scorches young August petals
rain taps on wild blooms---
and summer cools her flamed heat
to gently fondle morn’s dew

Sommerwiesen /Summer Meadows/Praderas de Verano

Die Sommerwiesen
Blühendes Meer im warmen Wind
Fernes Rauschen im Wald

Geruch von Sommer und Blüten
Wie Träume aus der Vergangenheit

The summer meadows
Flowering sea in a warm wind
A far rustle in the forest

Odor of summer and flowers
Like dreams of the past

Las praderas de verano
Mar floreciendo en un viento caloroso
Murmullo lejano del bosque

Olor de verano y flores
Como sueños del pasado

Cambridge Time

how do I feel
these memories so strong
still remembering
that punt to Grantchester
my falling into the Cam
the High tea in the orchard
