lost at sea - new tanka

wind carries the cries
of lost souls departed hence.
Claimed in the white foam
of a turbulent spring tide....
St Nicholas* comforts them

Castle In The Sand

Castle In The Sand

Waves besiege the shore
As crashing long lost lovers--
Lonely lions roar--
Salty cling of sultry air
Glistens as sunlight weakens...

Latte-coloured sand
Reveals waving fiddler crab
The male--his Huge hand--
Tempting females to his lair,
His deep castle in the sand.

*Note: the fiddler crab
they mate every two weeks...the male stands outside his two-foot deep elaborate burrow in the sand (castle) and waves his very enlarged claw enticing all females who pass by...when one shows interest, she stops for a second or two...stares at him...and he goes in to his castle, comes out and repeats this a few times until she makes up her mind....lol...once he has convinced a female, he seals the door to his castle, and there they stay...well, for a while...lol...db

Inhaling The Sea

I fly with the gull And breathe the color of salt Hear the surf's repeating song I came this way long ago And return to find my path

Spring Affair

her face growing old
lines of her eyes, ancient trees.
young lovers are lost
her branches bend with spring tears.
young rain seeps deep in the wood.

Azure Silks Blown in the Wind

Floating towards new moon--
a blanket flecked in diamonds
slips over the horizon.
A sliver of light over
azure silks blown in the wind.

Two Dolphins

two dolphins swimming
an endless sea before them. . . .
and love knows no bounds

always together
the dolphins follow instinct
but fun times ensue. . . .
frolicking in rhythmic waves
they leap up to catch sun’s rays

splendid torpedo bodies
gliding gracefully along
as their world mirrors blue sky. . . .
poetry flowing

Poetry Shared

Ocean draws me love
Come, come relax as waves tap
Toes, pelicans, gulls

Fun floating face down
Snorkel, mask, strange ocean clown
Below fish dart, chase
Look for love, food, fun, frolic
Similiar needs_fish~humans

Love, food, fun, frolic,friendship
Fish congregate in close schools
Human congregate in needs
Needs as poetry shared

After the Storm

Driftwood on white sand, adorned by coquina shells and bits of seaweed, remains of the storm's high tides -- a hurricane rage décor.

Jaws in real life

Master of the sea
Smells blood from miles away
Swims with dominance
Sharp serrated teeth devours
Naive humans viciously

You are the Dead Sea

You are the Dead Sea
You just take and take and take
Never giving back
Concentrated...with your needs
Buoyancy made of your pride

The one who enters
Cannot dive into your depths
Cannot open eyes
To see what resides inside
To me, you are the Dead Sea

I flow with my love
I just give and give and give
I am parched and dry
Immersion is what I need
You will never be a stream

formerly discarded trash,
illuminates the coastline,
sparkling like brilliant gemstones,
around a supple neck.

Hurts me beautiful
Far, so very far away
Come closer, come close to me…

hoping for sunshine

 When the stormy sea
crashes like thunder upon
your wind tossed vessel
and lightning rips the dark sky
all you hope for is sunshine

As the storm subsides
and the sky returns to blue
your hope will shine through
the sun will shine much brighter
As a rainbow paints the sky

sea of love

deprived of full moon my love is cradled by the arms of a first star until your eyes can see through the clouds of a deep blue night

Her Last Footsteps

                                   small and frail, she labors

                                          over the sand

                                       touching the ocean

feeling the breeze one last time

before waves of death claim her

Inhaling the Sea

I stand on the deck
Silver shadow that I see
The beauty that paints
A magic, drawn down secrets
In the calm breeze of their soul

Smell the sea and feel
The bluing fragrance of wave
Enjoy its moment
The loveliness that they bring
Let your soul and spirit fly

glowing brightly in the waves
reaching for the sand
tumbling over and over
begging for a bit of peace.
