Small Voices

                                         Standing in Heaven
a small voice calling my name
                                          the image is small
                                     I'm sorry God needed me
my child who was not born

Tanka For A Child

Sometimes all it takes

is a snapshot of a child

dripping in blue rain

with ripples of innocence

accompanied by madness.

Women and child abuse

We must put an end
To women and child abuse
From our societies
By enforcing stricter laws
And creating awareness

THE TAYLOR HOUSE STORY (tanka sextet)

There's always a house
Some weird vacant residence
Kids stay away from
Especially on certain nights
Those nights when the Moon is bright

Climbing those porch steps
Would take more than just courage
No child would risk it
It's the Taylor House Story
A tale both true and GORY!

The house I describe
Has three stories a long porch
And boarded windows
Except for one by the top gable
'Death's Door' so goes the fable

No boards on this one
No glass either just splinters
Three jagged sabres
It's said a boy in his teens
Stuck in his head - GUILLOTINED!

Now! On moonlit nights
Some still hear those awful thumps
The window comes down
THUMP! His head hits the roof THUMP!
Rolls on down hits the ground THUMP!

Well? To climb those steps?
It would be insanity
No child would risk it
A vision so full of dread
That thumping bouncing DEAD HEAD!

A Forest Child

Tree seen in forest
Is one of many thousands
Showing its branches
Now to me, a forest child:
One needing Christ's redemption

Haiku, Senryu and Tanka

ocean sounds
I pass a conch
from my ear to hers

monsoon dusk
the flood carrying
my shattered dreams

long rain
the homelessness
reopens the school

holding tight
to the hand of my child--
on the iPad
my mother talks and talks
of returning roles

A Balance of Power

When a child was a child
A man was young and strong
As A child was growing well
A man was getting old
And losing living strength
