The Eternal Tree

I am Alive Forever and always Essence Rebirth Renewal
I have earth to ground me I have wind to move me I have fire to cleanse
my spirit I have rain to quench my thirst for growth
I have sun to enlighten me feed me I am my own mother
and an extension of the whole I am Earth wind
rain sun fire I am as old as life and I am as young
as time I am shelter to those who seek me I am a bird a flower and the breath
of the earth itself I am exactly where I want to be I am life
I am first and last the beginning and the end I am one from many
I am what I am I live I grow and I die. I am Reborn unto myself
                                                          I am the great circle
                                                           My limbs know no
                                                           Boundaries; while
                                                           My leaves whisper
                                                           The one truth of the
                                                           Whole through the
                                                           Seasons changing
                                                            Colors that I wear
                                                            Upon my heart's
                                                            Sleeve, I'm home
                                                           To Earth Mother’s
                                                           Melodious Life; I
                                                           Sing for the whole

Queen Sea and Her Three Paramours

So enchanted was Sun by Queen Sea as he sat near some clouds high above he began sliding down stealthily till he touched the dark face of his love. Then Sir Sky, so aroused by Sea’s hue, began melting along with Sun’s rays, and by now, Sun was dipping into the blue depths of Queen Sea. In a daze, Sky gazed down, and with ruddishness blushed! Then a third lover looked on the face of Queen Sea. Feeling thrilled, Night then brushed rosy heavens with deep purple lace. Night embraced lovely Sea! Sun was gone. And again, Sky with envy looked on. Sonnet done in nine-syllable lines for the Anapest Trimeter Contest of Pendleton Arkwright

Island of Sylt

I smile and feel the wind massage my face
Then close my eyes to smell the fresh sea air
The seagull’s wings catch wind then float with grace
A day on Sylt can wash away all care.

I love to see the changing of your tide
Then feel your mud squeeze gently through each toe
You steal my breath your rippled surface wide
Now baring gifts of sea shells as you go.

When you return your rushing waters swirl
And take back all your precious jewels too
I watch in wonder as your wavings curl
And I’m in awe just at the sight of you

Now lying on your sand I watch each cloud
They tell me stories changing forms for me
Today the Greek Gods sat there very proud
As if they wanted all the world to see

The sun has bent down low to take a drink
Now thirsty from his journey through the sky
He dips his head in waters turning pink
Then quickly disappearing shuts his eye

Oh, isle of Sylt your sandy beaches fair
Invite me to return and taste your shore
The salty waters where I’ll sit and stare
Oh, isle of Sylt I’m knocking at your door

Love - Sweet - Love

                                                       Hand in hand
                                       Sandy beach with beautiful sunset
                                                            in love

What could be more romantic than
when the sun is glowing red and orange
                                          melts into the sea somewhere
And two who are in love and goes hand in hand

                                                       A small box
On his knees in the wet sand beach
                                                     Will you be mine

                                              She blushes as the sunset
                                                Smiles her lovely smile
                                                        Yes, I would

The sun melts into the sea somewhere
But for a couple in love, the night is still young

Ode to Autumn

Earth’s sphere of fire bids adieu to me

As dying embers gleam across the sea

In rare hues reflected by autumn trees,

Swirling in motion with October’s breeze.

I feel the joy this season has to share

In golden harvest that the branches bear,

And I am thankful for this blessed year,

For divine abundance I share so dear.

The sun and moon take on a special glow

As thunder clouds move swiftly with the flow.

Yes, autumn coaxes feelings to revive,

Those mem’ries of past seasons still alive.

When autumn spreads her dress of lacey frost

I know, in breathless beauty, I’ll be lost.

Beachworld

Silent in its violence, the sun
lays its ancient fire hand on the heat-scoured
concrete of the promenade,
the boxy seafront chalets tilting and creaking at angles,
the scorched, salt-stiffened gardens,
sand dunes, the screaming blue sea.
It is so difficult to accept a loss, a deprivation.
Innocence flaps its winding sheet behind me,

its mummy cloth of myth.
As from an isolated moon I see
the first cold breaker rush to engulf me:
an underwater undulance,
undercurrents of menace, of malice.
The sand-strewn strand stretches into infinity,
shimmering with the visions, the voices, the echoes,
the faceless departments of government and society.

I watch the insouciant people around me,
they possess a flatness, like blank paper.
They hump and lug plastic picnic paraphernalia,
ridiculously, all beach grime and blistered backs,
reduced to a red cindery glow.
Ice creams, scooped from the freezers
in trinkety seashore shops,
are clutched in sunburned hands.

They are spreading striped sunbathing mats,
snide and smiling slyly.
Is it a mirage, a delusion,
plucked from the desert-dry air?
The air snags in my throat: the flat summer stench
of warm wood, sun lotion, billowing cotton -
blank but expansive; the creaking, the flapping.
A strange wind howls and banters in my ear.

And the train shrieks through its station -
the station of my brain -
a riddled red abyss, poker-hot.
The sun is sinking:
a disc of fire, a blood clot.
Water floods the ridgy shallows,
eddying into treacherous pits.
The black gun muzzle of my mouth

flays the oxygen from the air.
My nerves a hive of wires suffering
the scarlet atrocities.
Pokers put out my eyes.
Squeezed by the forceps of agony
I see nothing, nothing
but a mirage of wavering dunes closing in
and the sea splintering; a multitude of glass glittering.

When The Sun Sets

When the sun sets, The stars shine with no regrets. Darkness fills the air, The moon gives light with every care. The darkness is easier to walk through, Every light shining is so pure and true. Guidence forever are the stars in the sky, With them we find our places lifted so high. Forever is the moon to cast light upon us all, We become encouraged to stand firm and tall. The stars shine with no regrets, When the sun sets.

When the sun sets, Shining its powerful light it never forgets. Though light fades to darkness, It comes about with alertness. Shadows before the eye can see, The little shining light is enough to set us free. Sometimes we are afraid to walk alone in the dark, From which we were given a caustic remark. Guidance Forever is the changing of dark and light, It helps us to be strong and make one last fight. Forever are the shadows lurking at every turning point, If we give in it is ourselves we disappoint. Shining its powerful light it never forgets, When the sun sets.

When the sun sets, The sky is filled with wonderful colors that the ocean reflects. All the animals of the sea, Come forth creating a musical harmony. The waves crash upon the shore, Washing up new sand to the ocean floor. Its a beautiful site to see, The ocean sounds are calmingly free. Who's to say the ocean isn't peaceful get away, Its a calming place to relax and stay. The sky is filled with wonderful colors that the ocean reflects, When the sun sets.

The Life I Love

(In the words of a happy little mermaid)

I slide through silky cerulean seas
Silently swimming wherever I please;
I glide through water with buttery ease,
With skin that is smoother than ivory keys.

There are secret gardens I love to explore
Far below the world on the ocean floor,
Where are colors no man has seen before
Hidden in an underwater treasure store.

Deeper down in the sea, where I go on a whim,
The light is so far it is grayish and dim;
There the masts of shipwrecks rise dark and slim,
And coins of gold line passages I swim.

On tropical islands with flowing waves
I play in uncharted, mysterious caves,
Or nap in the sunlight's golden rays
In a silent shoal on balmy days.

I pick pretty flowers to put in my hair
And splash in the shallows with never a care;
The droplets shine like diamonds in the air,
Rising and falling like a crystal flare.

When the day is over, the dolphins sing mass
And the sun sets fire on the leaping bass,
Then I lie in a bed much clearer than glass
And pray a sweet dream for this mermaid lass.

Ever Turning Circle

In winter’s white, as angels cry
for early spring to warm the wind,
to bring to life with gentle sigh,
in love, the bitter frost has thinned.

For early spring to warm the wind,
at Valentine’s romantic calls,
in love, the bitter frost has thinned,
where dancers twirl amid stone walls.

At Valentine’s romantic calls,
rebirth of nature’s light divine,
where dancers twirl amid stone walls,
and blossoms pastel shades recline.

Rebirth of nature’s light divine,
when day equals the hours of night,
and blossoms pastel shades recline,
to hail the queen of May in light.

When day equals the hours of night,
a summer’s sun will come to play,
to hail the queen of May in light,
we chant and sing along the way.

A summer’s sun will come to play,
so life can grow as gods decreed,
we chant and sing along the way,
with warmth and light our hunger feed.

So life can grow as gods decreed,
the rays of sun on seeds we’ve sown,
with warmth and light our hunger feed,
the wealth of harvest is our own.

The rays of sun on seeds we’ve sown,
in autumn breeze that chills the heat,
the wealth of harvest is our own,
as gold and red belies our feet.

In autumn breeze that chills the heat,
a year that ends with blessed Samhain,
as gold and red belies our feet,
the call of Ancient’s name to reign.

A year that ends with blessed Samhain,
to bring to life with gentle sigh,
the call of Ancient’s name to reign,
in winter’s white, as angels cry.

Malta

Mediterranean island, where one finds so much to do
Abundant days of sunshine and the sea is limpid blue
Lavender, thyme and laurel; history spreads in rich galore
The temples, feasts, devotion bring religion to the fore.
Acclaimed for fruit and honey and the fish that’s brought to shore.

This is a friendly nation; you’ll be welcomed by a toast
To the best of health intended to last long while she’s your host.

I Tasted Summer

I tasted summer…
It sure tasted good
I was dying for a sip
Of my iced coffee CHINO
Only in Cyprus…
My drug of choice
Crushed ice with sweetened coffee
OH....YES!
In the evenings
succulent watermelon treats
Eating it all with relish
Even the seeds
what greed!

I tasted summer…
In that first dive into the pool
How cool!
Immersed in liquid delight
Open eyes
I touched the bottom of the pool
Two dolphins painted there
Let me have my way...
I did a handstand
Legs pointed straight up into the air
The water running down my legs
Straight up....I held on

Weightless
Weightless
In my element
My hair flowing around me
As I did my strokes
Diving in and out of the water
A fish…
That's how I got described
by the one who watched,
"Your so agile"

Such exuberance
I thought…OH…this is better...
Better that a sensual high
There was I
Gliding in and out
Water above, below, all around
Carrying me
Splashing around me
loving me
Playing...playing with my hair
Saturating my soul
With giddiness

Muted sound
Below the surface
I swim underwater
The width of the pool
I thrust up for air
Water slides off my body
The sun kisses me
Applauding the feat
I taste summer
It sure tastes good

Salty scent in my hair
My body slathered in sunscreen
Sand clinging to me
The beach
My sensing feasting
On every single thing...
My eyes delighted

A small September crowd
Enjoys the breeze
that creates the waves
I wade into the water
Intake of breath
I squeal
It's refreshingly cold
The water laps at my legs
crawling further and further up
Making me gasp
Finally....
I submerge
I laugh

I dive into the waves
One by one
I play...
I push myself high
My face to the shore
They pound on my back
I take a deep breath and let them roll over me
Enjoying the roughness
That "out of control" feeling
This is greater than me

And then
I lie back
I float
Blue above
White puffs: baby angel breath clouds
I let the sun ravish
The water carries me
I forget everything
My mind blank like the blue sky
There is nothing but the NOW
NOW
And there am I
Tasting summer
Salty and sweet
September treat
And happy
Oh, so, happy, am, I!

A Summer Walk

The sun is slowly rising and a soft wind gently blows
We are heading for the beach to feel the sand between our toes
There is something about the summer sun and a walk along the shore
That tends to put your world at peace as you hear the ocean's roar

The sound of children's laughter and the smell of tanning lotion
The taste of salt in the air from the mist coming off of the ocean
Sea gulls against a clear blue sky and a ship with its' sails set
These are days that will live in our memory, days we'll never forget

There are palm trees, music and a carousel as you make your way along
And a young woman in a bikini, her body swaying to an island song
There is a rhythm to the pounding surf, unchanging day to day
That tends to ease a troubled mind and take your blues away

Will you join me in a summer walk and be there at my side
Will you run with me into the water and swim against the tide
There's a bench out on the boardwalk, we can sit a while and talk
Then head back home together as we finish our summer walk.

Moon Dance

The waves slide over the shore
Leaving tiny, squiggly trails
The moon and sun battle for the sky
And the big, bright moon prevails.
The beach is shrouded in darkness
Dimmly lit by only one light
That dances through the undertow
Marching its way through the plight.
A stencil of gray laces the sky
Creating a vision of death
Slowly overcoming the shore
'Til it takes its last breath.
The ocean itself which had once held
So much life in its depths
Has become drowned in its own contents
It is meeting its own death.
A storm lashes its way
Solmnly across the sky
To make room for what will unleash
That will cause the very moon to cry.
Dancing and waltzing across the shore,
The moon sadly turns away
She can't bear to see her ocean like this
And witness it going astray.
With one, final, swift motion,
She casts her love out to sea
The love she held deeply for her ocean
The world, and all her countries.
She makes her way back to where she belongs
And lets the sun take over the sky
I didn't, in all my years,
Think I would ever see the moon cry.
But she shed those tears so bravely
And dried them so nonchalant
She turned and made her way back to the sky
Like it was something she could never want.
The moon had lost the battle
And, defeated, began to fade away
Then the sun began to dance, too
To celebrate a brand-new day.

Swept Away

Mid afternoon, the sun slams down,
On the shifting sands of a coastal town,
The monument points with a gun to the sky,
The heat haze displaced by a seagull’s cry;
On the quay I sit and look out to sea,
At the distance between the horizon and me.

At a quarter to four I have not moved on,
Wearing haunted looks that I thrive upon,
An ice cream melts in a splitting cone,
Seeping through cracks to a twilight zone.
I take a deep breath and rise to my feet,
So cold and alone in the sweltering heat.

At the closing of day, the sun settles down,
The night muscles in on a coastal town,
I drift to the bar and the sea licks the walls
Of the harbour without where the darkness falls.
I look to the dusk for an answer or two,
But there’s no sign of life, and there’s no sign of you.

dance on glass

I know her dance on glass at night
and how directs soul’s wounds to string
upon the nimbus raindrops cling
- prismatic moon of broken light.

Then she becomes faint shape to frame
her misty wander - face and faith
before the tears - beloved her wraith
pristine and fair her ancient name.

Lone garden’s sadness in her eyes
celestial blue - emerald coast
becomes her verse, solitudes’ host
and repercussions that incise.

She gallivants untimely role
(in void’s catastrophe stars glare)
soul dances in the scent of air,
evanescent the path of Sol.

She gallivants marginal dreams
and stars become far blinking smiles
how lonesome are the winter isles
and the ship’s frozen steel-made brims!

Descending light - circular flare
that fades away, beyond skylines
- erstwhile her soul shall sail on brines
evanescent celestial stare.

Fun in the Sun

Flesh on show and sun tan lotion
bodies laid on towels or sun lounges
By the ocean
Salty air wind blown hair
Music streaming from the near by fair
Baby screaming nappies full
Cool guys looking for babes on the pull
Sun shades and floppy hats
Grown men playing cricket with ball and bats
Sand castles and buckets and spades
Candy floss and lemonade
Father With binoculars pretending to look out to sea
Or read a newspaper but really looking at the bathing beauties
Bikinis and manknies G strings tight where the sun don't shine
Hot dogs and hamburgers the popping of corks from bottles of wine
Hairy legs and wrinkled skin
child almost drowning couldn't swim
Muscle bound Life guards with muscles to impress
Granma lost her false teeth
Dropped between her breasts
Ice creams and summer dreams
Young child peeing in the sea
Among the swimmers splashing about with glee
People playing beach ball and football
Mother calls come on all it's time for tea
Large Busty woman running like jelly on a plate
Wobble wobble
And nearly starting an earthquake
Sand between your toes
Sun burn on your nose
Sweaty arm pits sweaty bums
Toffee apples and bleeding gums
Sea gulls flying screeching high above
Clear blue sky pure white dove
Watching the frothy waves stretch upon the shore
Watching the horizon and tiny boats 10 miles away or more
Dogs running here and there
Sweets being passed around to share
Crabs and shrimps and other critters in a rocky pool
Children with fishing nets and jars to take them back to school
Para gliders pulled by speed boats high in the sky
Oh why do people want to risk life
As they could die
Postcards to write people on there bikes
The smell of fish and chips
Children with jam around their lips
Couples walking hand in hand barefoot on warm sand
Treasured memories and photo's to cherish
Suitcases packed feeling unwound and relaxed
Can't wait until next year when they come back.

Mistress Of The Sea

                                  Song of the waves beckon
the heart calleth, deep unto deep
                                captive mistress of the sea

This poem is dedicated to the fisrt time I saw
the ocean. I watched the sun rise over the Alantic Ocean.
I remember I stood there looking over the ocean,
and it seemed as though the whole world held its breath,
and then the sun came up! I was her captive from that moment.

we've been travelling

we've been travelling
across the sky,
we've seen the clouds and felt the sun
we've flown in a plane and had lots fun.

we've been travelling
across the sea,
we've saild in a boat and looked for old caves
we've felt the wind and seen the waves.

We've been travelling
across the hills,
we've seen the fields and touched the snow
we've ridden in trains, some fast some slow.

With Final Burst

With final burst of golden rays
sun sets below the horizon
day fades away and here night stays

From south gentle warm breeze plays
luring beckoning the siren
with final burst of golden rays

Siren calls hearts are set ablaze
and rising up comes Poseidon
day fades away and here night stays

Together they play in the bays
ride waves on the crest of Zion
with final burst of golden rays

There is no more time for delays
a merry nod to Orion
day fades away and here night stays

As departing we go our ways
as daylight for us is poison
With final burst of golden rays
day fades away and night here stays

Dancing Trees

Rocking and swaying in the breeze Tree branches are dancing with glee Such playful action of the trees So joyous, unfettered and free Leaves are all rustling and sighing With a sound like waves of the sea Like a crescendo that rising And then subsiding gradually Leaves that fell to the grass below Perform their dancing in the air The breeze tosses them to and fro Making the show a grand affair The sun is shining in the sky Bathing everything in its light I'm feeling such a glorious high Gazing at this beautiful sight

livin’ on the beach in a hut by the sea
green grass , warm gentle breezes and all kinds of lovely trees .
I’m gonna beat the heat to make my retreat sittin by the sea
Cause its winter in the world cept livin here with me
I am happy to make your acquaintance
And i raise a glass to your health , long life and prosperity
So peace my friends and welcome to the sea
Where the music is playin’ ,the sun is shinin’, the people gentle and free
No hassles from the man and no worries will make your day go bad
Lay back and hear the music that wont be sad
The sounds will keep you cool listenin’ to the beat
The sun and the gentle warm breezes
All the pretty girls in bare feet paradin’ down the street
where livin is easy and laid back like u want life to be
Plenty food and drink for you man
To sing and dance the night away
Come down to the sea and live your life away

a Paddle in the Sea

The first sign of summer
has this day appeared so clear
the sky's blue with sun about
you can feel it so very near

So to the beach I did go
Tshirt and shorts was my wear
took off trainers and socks
who's looking! I did not care

I then paddled along the sea
my feet was completely wet
so refreshing and cool the water
the time escaped like we'd never met

This is such a good feeling
wish it would last for ever
feeling the rays of the sun
all over myself like a flowing river

So pray for more sunny days
bright and warm is our wish
all over the world this summer
served up like our fav dish

AUTHOR NOTES:
Walking along the beach on the Scottish North Ayrshire coastline the other day,
it was our first really warm sunny day of the summer, just a few thoughts on the
experience.

Memory

MEMORY

In the city,
The sun often wears a veil of grey mourning,
Woven of smog and dust.

In the evening,
The stars retreat from the lights
Of the city far below.

Far from the city,
I walk the beach, sun hot on my skin.
Waves wash cool and white over my feet.

Seagulls dive and snatch,
The remains of the fisherman’ catch
And the kite glides and falls like a stone to earth.

The sea rolls on and in.
An endless murmur,
Through the days and the nights.

My eyes, accustomed to this light
Of sky, of sand, of dry bush land.
Watch the sails of a lone boat.

And I think of many things, as I walk along this beach.
And as always my thoughts return to you.
You with eyes the colour of the sky.

I wonder where you are in the city
So far away from my world, from your world,
Of sea and sand.

I think of you and the distance in between us.
Distance that as time has passed,
Has grown too far to breach.

I know this, but still I think of you,
As I retrace my footprints,
In the dampness of the sand.

One Summer Long Ago part 1

.One Summer Long ago

I watched idly as the wind played with white puffy clouds
The sun shining brightly against the loud blue sky
The horizon shimmered and danced
merging sea and sky into eternal romance
Islands of white ,amidst deep emerald waters ,dotted the Aegean
Stretching away into shrouds of summer haze and misty beings
Waves crashed onto golden sands of deserted beaches
Baked by the sun ,unmarked and virgin for eons
Whispering above the wind, siren songs lured weary bones to rest ,
while billowy white sails float along to the west
The great long oars sweeping along the painted faces
of warships majestically making their way among long forgotten places
Dusty footprints in the earth lead to visions of truth and purity
To tales of beasts, gods and beauty
This is the land to which I sail ,
embarked upon my epic journey of which I will regale
A young man of thirty , on a quest for adventure and tall tales
Returning to seek a necklace recounted in myths and legends

As it proclaims ,a necklace adorned thy crown o mighty queen
A pure reflection of peace and beauty ,a rare sight to be seen
Now at war they seek your pleasure
The reason behind the lust for crown and glory
And to the victor ,go the spoils
One mighty warrior took his treasure
and killed the queen as his pleasure
In drunken glory he gave the crown
to his lover to keep till he found
A reason to return for his crown

He went back to war , and died for his sins
his lover grieving went back home to her kin,
He to his lonely grave , and she accepting her fate
Tossed the necklace into the sea as her heart learned to hate
She recounted many times , written in poems
buried by sands ,lost amidst the memories of long ago
,the map and all the treasure of their war
the story of their lovers parting day
Why she tossed it so unceremoniously into the bay
Calling upon her Gods to protect and curse
her secret of jewels from her death to her rebirth
Cursed and forgotten it was said ,
The secret taken to her final bed

Generations apart, a legacy passed down in poem and song
I, the younger son, took it upon myself to undo the wrong
to recover and to keep ,the jewels hidden in the deep ,
And close the door for all time ,
this legend of diamonds ,sapphires and gold
I would not rest till I conquered my goal, my mighty quest

New Horizons

I teeter on the brink of possibility.
The sun on the new horizon glistens
its rays on the undulating sea of change.

I gaze a while, drifting with a squawking gull,
or diving with a hunting cormorant -
lost in my imagination, caught in plausibility.

Sometimes a gust of wind unsettles my balance;
I totter into uncertainty, struggling to stand,
but you take my hand and steady me.

Now I only look ahead; no way back.
The chasm is inviting me to jump;
to take a leap of faith and ditch the doubt.

I place my baggage at my feet;
packages of responsibility and confusion
tucked in neatly and nestling with the past.

One last tug at the sleeve of my coat
as they make a last ditch attempt to restrain me,
and I have jumped - flying through the air, free.

As I land I see you there smiling and safe,
arms outreaching. The promise of the future beckons,
and looks inviting, exciting and full of hope.

Once I teetered on the brink of possibility
now it is a glistening reality. The sea is calm now.
And, as the sun sets on the horizon, I am home.

(note: to all my lovely friends who thought I was literally considering leaping into a chasm to
my death, I can assure that I am most certainly not!!! It is merely a metaphorocal chasm,
and I intend to stick around for quite a while yet. Heavens, I am just about to have a book
published, life is very good! Thanks so much for your concern though)

I Want The Sun

On I say. On we must go
The time is right, I feel it head to toe
I've never seen the sea, I do not know it's waves
I want to walk to Africa, it is the sun I crave
On I say. We must go now
Another day of dormancy I cannot allow
The happiest days of my life were when I ran away
Farther and farther I went it did not matter which way
I had never seen such long and colored days
I wanted the sun in my eyes ablaze
We have to leave. Let us set out
I want to know what life outside this town is about
Let us cross the desert, we'll go as far as we can
Then we'll go back to Africa and thus begin again
I want the sun I say, I want the sun in my face
I want the sun at my back, I want the sun every place
I want you to be with me I don't want to go alone
Please say you'll come with me, or don't, either way I'm gone

This poem is inspired by Leonardo DiCaprio's portrayal of the French poet Arthur Rimbaud in Total Eclipse. It's one of my favorites and I wanted to pay it proper homage.

EVENING ON THE PIER

An evening on the pier
Angelic hue sunset
Sailboat's tall silhouettes
God's masterpiece

His brush across the sky
Declares his majesty
Reflections on the sea
Awe in the breeze

Eternal starlight's shine
Fade in from outer space
This now a sacred place
The moon's aglow

*I drop down to one knee
Backdrop heaven on earth
Been guided here since birth
And you said.. Yes!

Mr. Crab and Mr. Anemone

(A hermit crab has just realized that he can barely fit into his shell and the only other
creature in earshot to hear his cries is a sea anemone who lives on the hermit crab's shell and has been the hermit crab's close friend for many years.)

Lament dear shell! For we stayed in the sun too long and you have shrunk!
How shall I survive with out you to protect me and house me from the sea?

Shrunk!?! A sea-shell? How is it that a shell could shrink, I ask you Mr. Crab?
How could something hard grow small? Maybe something that is soft grew large?

Mr. Anemone, what exactly do you mean? Something that is soft???
My shell is hard and my claws are harder. I can crack coconuts and coquinas alike.

No doubt, Mr. Crab, your claws are hard indeed, as hard as the shell on your head.
But what about your tail? Could it be that your tail has grown too big for your house?

Mr. Anemone, don’t be foolish. I am as fit as a fish and sleek as a snake.
I highly doubt that my tail could be at fault, to be honest; I’m a bit insulted you would say so.

Dear Mr. Crab, my intent is not to insult but to illuminate OUR current predicament.
The shell on which I sit and in which you live is no longer big enough for YOUR tail -- are
you listening?

Oh, excuse me Mr. Anemone, this blue-green algae is wonderful today.
Would you care for a snack? It really is quite delicious and you are looking a bit thin.

Mr. Crab, case and point! You have already eaten breakfast twice today, this is your third.
I believe we have narrowed in on the reason your shell has “shrunk”. Are you paying
attention!?!

Mmmmm, delicious algae; its so sweet when its fresh. Oh yes, I heard you.
The sun has shrunk my shell and we must now say goodbye to our old home.

Mr. Crab, a moment ago you were crying about the lack of room and potential eviction
from our home,
Now you munch away, ever expanding your tail and threatening our protection and even
our lives!

(something floats down from the surface and comes to rest on the sand a few feet from Mr.
Crab and Mr. Anemone)

Hello, what’s this Mr. Anemone? Round opening, hard outer surface and very shiny,
And writing on the side, hmmm, “bud-weis-er”. Budweiser! Sounds like a great name for a
new home.

Yes indeed Mr. Crab. When all hope seems lost and the end seems near, Mother Sea
provides.
And it would seem she has provided something big enough even for YOUR tail.

Ashes to the Sea

Upon the sun’s last dying ray… silver-weaved waves softly play,
The sweet fragrance of lilies white… and flame-red, and gold alight,
Is turned bittersweet on that day… this day of sorrow, oh do belay,
As heavy mourning and soft love fight… to give me a pause before dark night.

Golden sun slowly goes down to sleep… a burning heart, unsafe to keep,
The mourner’s cry, oh never scorn… as the sea, sun’s light does adorn,
Goldenly striking the soul, penetrating deep… in salt-filled water, wounds left to seep,
Quietly alone now, over the ocean forlorn… a pair, a couple to just one is torn.

And as the sun beats the soft sea... there is a distant melody,
Ashes are let loose to flow… fly quietly, to land in water below,
Go with peaceful ease so free… never forget you and me,
Memories shall become my foe… can’t you hear my heart, so slow?

In the last of the day’s sunlight beam... the cinders similar to stardust seem,
Floating away, a breeze in the air… beautiful yet wrought by despair,
Though I search for a comforting dream... I only find is only a cruel scheme…
Ashes gone, the metal left bare… I cry in love, for you’ve entered the ocean’s deep lair.

may memories of a dolphin sighting boat ride

Those wooden meant to for all season, Blue painted motored boats beacon, Us to calm green sea waters, To sail on and that’s all that matters. The calm green waters dolphin rides, Deep inside when the tide subsides. Eight pals and two sailors sailed on On a boat with the rent haggled upon. Two and a half miles have gone, Into the waters we sail on, Squealing and giggling in delight, Adrenalin pumped up and over excite. The motor the sailor cuts off, Over and over with a bit of scoff, The dolphins they say swim and are gone By the dull sounds of the motor whirr &drone. Waves they splash frothy sprays On the bodies bathed in hot sunrays, Shrills cries of joy erupt, From us sightseers eight on a glimpse of dolphins seen abrupt. The wet bath suits and sun tans, Some with hand held beer cans, Watch the dolphins frolic in the sea Cavorting in graceful curves both she and he. The sailor maneuvers you to the place Of marine life ,pelagic birds his boat with grace, The sight of these magnificent mammals, Feeding and playing their bodies look coated with enamel. The thrill so great just to watch, These mammals is just top notch This pod of dolphins swim away, We watch through misty sea sprays. Salty breeze seep in our hair, Smiling sun shines on our burnt backs bare, The dull sounds of engine power, The enchanting sounds of rythimic waves in my ears still hover.

My Love For You

My love for you is like cool slow rain from an April sky with gentle droplets whispering of love as they kiss your face My love for you is like gentle sea breezes on a hot summer's noon bringing healing's touch from some far away land to soothe the weary soul My love for you is like the dawning sun chasing away the darkness with golden sunbeams that radiate with hope of a better day My love for you is like all these things and more for even if the rain ceases to fall and the breeze forgets to blow and the sun shines no more my love for you will always be there

The Sea and Me

The sea is always there for you and me to see
The sun is there too to warm our glee
The birds are happy with no worry
The flowers bloom their beauty
Though all for just temporary

So when the sea seems so harsh and unfriendly
When the sun eclipse is there for us to see
When the birds twit of no sound chirpy
And flowers wither before they’re bloomy
Just keep them all in your memory
Blame neither the birds nor the sea
When they’re not sunny and flowery
But gloomy and even stormy

Just blame me…
For not telling you
To get ready.

Meaningful Meeting

A happy person on a snowy morning,
standing near the sea, beneath the rising sun.

A person finding happiness while watching the sea,
standing amidst morning snow, as the sun is shining.

Happiness found on a snowy morning,
near the sea, the sun above, burning brightly.

BEACH WALK

On an early morning walk of coffee and salt
under a sullen sky filled with the tridents of wings,
I add my footprints beside a blowsy sea (praised be
Poseidon,) that accepts the given of a northeast wind,
and the still mirror of a summer day. This ocean's re-
chargeable, my one immutable constant, except for shifting
cobalt, soda bottle green, the edgy, unsettling gray
of northeast storms. She alone, resurrects the child in me--
the girl of full moon nights and open windows, the fledgling
woman alone in an old garage apartment in her
hometown, where a carnelian sun set over fishing
vessels and empty river-front packing plants.

I share my ocean with other insomniacs. Runners pass,
racing the sun to its zenith. Down the beach there is Yoga,
and a contemplative in his lawn chair watches the hypnotic
breakers form and reform with their zebra patterns,
driven, as they are, to decorate the shoreline, to deposit
spittle for scavenger sanderlings, chasing miniscule
morsels. The haughty gulls' absolute arrogance is skewered
by their spindly legs, negotiated so nimbly, two
seem a single navigation.

Where are the donax when the waves roll back, hard-
wired to burrow their small shells in wet sand? Are they
history, as in sea oats I may not pick, sand hills I may not
climb, seines no longer dragged by neighborhood guys
bare-chested in waist deep surf to snare slippery supper.
"Dommage"! "Que lastima"! All of the above. As for myself,
I sail my colors high, no pity here--"Tout change, tout
change, tout a' grandi' like the sea urchin I once
was, washing away the blemishes of being.

The Sun Rose Red

As Dawn cracks over the horizon
The small crescent moon takes a bow
Greeting her was a delight
For she paints silver in his hair

The moon was hardly visible
Painted the same shade of blue
That the sky chose as a cloak
On this morning of early dew

The cloak of blue had a trail of mist
That shrouded the hills and vales
A misty blue to silver gray
That was light and very airy still

The birds enjoy the cloak
That fanned the air with damp
Cooling mist of the night
But soon the sun put on another

Cloak as she became much brighter
With her dress of brilliant red
That she wore to grace our summer's day
A cloak as colored as poinsettias' tips

On a gray December day
This means that the sun
Will bring heat with her as hot as
A fiery oak wood coal

And the cool of the morn
Will go as the summer's sun
Has bid us a warm hello
The moon with his silver hair

Disappearing into night
To another land so swiftly
Did he go to bring it a high tide
While ours will go very low

The sun rose cloaked in red
Bringing her heated stove
She will bake and cook some bread
Heating the south as across the sky goes

Ol' Sea Snake's Carriage Ride

Ol' Sea Snake's Carriage Ride

Cobblestones wobble and rock the carriage,
as I circle these streets with Blue Bits and
Derby Boy on this vibrant morning.

With the sun on my back and a salty gale brushing
by, my spirits soar as I imagine what the day will bring.

People come from all over to tour this city,
and soak up it's history and scenic views.

Why not climb aboard my carriage and take
a brisk ride with me on this beautiful day?

As we trot through the historic district, I'll
tell you some of our most scandalous folklores
and show you their shocking locations,
like Copper Moon Ridge, where pirates once
dressed as dames to steal their first good swig
of America's finest moonshine.
It's still pretty darn good!

You'll see the towering cliff views of our granite
lighthouse, whose menacing design has weathered
decades of the ocean's pounding tides.

We'll squeeze in time to feed the beached seals basking
in the sun or catch a rare glimpse of the orca whales
playing in our bay.

If romance is your desire, I'll tool you around in the moonlight,
to our brightest vistas that magnify the star's diamond twinkles.
...Perfect for capturing your lover's passion-heart.
I'll even take a long stroll, just to assure you of your privacy.
 ...Gentleman's honor, I won't take a peek!

If it's fish and chips you seek, we'll head over to
Smacky-Bud's Mackerel Shack for the tastiest fish around.
But I'll be up front with you, don't feed any to Derby n' Bits
or it'll be a long ride back.

So jump aboard and take a ride with this Ol' Sea Snake,
while there's still time.
I'm not getting any younger!

You day-trippers spend too much of your weekly grind
in your lackluster cars.

Come, sit back and unwind for a short time.
I'll sweep you back to the golden age of enchantment,
when hearts would mysteriously merge on a slow-trotting
carriage ride. Memories like these could last you a lifetime!

SUMMERTIME BLUES

IT'S BEEN A BUSY SEASIDE SUMMER DAY..
WHILE THE SUN WAS AT IT'S HEIGHT AND BURNING
     UP THE DAY...
ON THE BEACH THEY'RE LAYING AND BASKING
     IN THE SUN...
     SOME TURN A GOLDEN COLOUR..
WHILE OTHERS GLOW A SCARLET RED JUST LIKE
     A STICK OF SEASIDE ROCK...
BEWARE THE UV'S, THERE'S CANCER IN THE AIR..
THE DECK CHAIRS WEAR CONTENTED SMILES WITH
     PEOPLE IN THEIR LAPS..
WHILE AT THE WATERS EDGE THE CHILDREN PLAY..
     DANCING WILDLY IN THE WATER....
     LAUGHING LOUDLY AT THE WAVES....
THE OLDIES ARE OUT THERE PADDLING WHILE TIGHTLY
     HOLDING HANDS..
SHE HOLDS HER DRESS UP TO HER KNEES.
GOD, DO THEY STILL WEAR BLOOMERS..
WHILE OUT AT SEA THE LILO'S FLOAT....
     AND BOBBLE IN THE WAVES..
     FIGHTING WITH THE CURRENTS..
THERE'S A COUPLE WITH A WAYWARD BEACH BALL...
YOU KNOW WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN..
AS IT LANDS IN SOMEONE'S PICNIC LUNCH..
ICE CREAM, DRINKS AND CANDY FLOSS..
THE SMELL OF GREASY FISH AND CHIPS..
I'M CRAVING FOR A QUIET PLACE.
THE NOISE AROUND IS QUITE UNSETTLING..
THE SHOUTING, SCREAMING, PEOPLE FALLING OUT
     AND PEOPLE MAKING OUT...
WILL SOMEONE STOP THAT DOG FROM BARKING..
PLEASE GET ME UNDER A LARGE UMBRELLA..
     I'M BURNING IN THE RAYS..
WHILE NEXT TO ME THE RAUCOUS SOUNDING SEAGULLS
     FIGHT FOR SCRAPS OF FOOD..
FOR ALL THE SUN THE DAY IS PASSING BY AND SOON
THE LIGHT WILL GO TO SLEEP..
THE NOISE HAS NOW ABATED AND IS DRIFTING OUT TO SEA..
THE BEACH WILL SOON BE EMPTY AND PEACEFUL ONCE AGAIN..
THE TIDE HAS WOKEN UP AND IS CLAWING BACK THE SHORE..
SLOWLY FIRST THEN WITH A BRUTAL RUSH.
THE CRASHING, FOAMING WAVES LAY WHITENED ON THE BEACH..
A SILENT CHILL IS FELT AS EVENING SLOWLY FALLS..
THERE'S SHADOW'S ON THE PROMENADE AS LONELY JOGGERS RUN..
PUFFING OUT THEIR CHEST'S AND GETTING OUT OF BREATH..
IT'S BEEN A LONG AND STRESSFUL DAY AND I NEED A CUP OF TEA..
     AND A MOMENT TO MYSELF..........

True Beauty

I’ve fallen in love With the beauty of How the sun sets at the beach, Leaving you without speech. The beach gets quiet, Gone is the daytime riot. The sun sets in that big pink sky Revealing the stars on high. Life can be so taxing And the sunset is so relaxing. It takes your breath away This sight at the end of every day. So next time you get the chance To stop for more than a glance, For Heavens sake do so, And let me know Your thoughts when you see That which is true beauty.

Suffolk dawn

Desolate sea
between steel sky and dusky shore.
A sinister mist creeps in,
adds to the grey gloom.
Flat calm.
		Stillness.
			     Complete silence.

A seabird cries.
Shingle-rippling wavelets, bubble and make reply.
The gull continues his mournful song
evoking sea-lost souls.
Waves,
	    now churning time-worn pebbles,
advance,
     inexorably –
a soulful seascape in shades of grey.

Others take up the seabird’s reveille.
Ghostly forms
			float intangibly
						on the morning mist.

Golden light, gathers on the horizon –
slow, diffuse at first, later, laser-like,
bright rays burn off the vapours.
Then,
	suddenly,
			in splendour,
						the Sun appears.

WALKING ALONG THE BEACH

Walking along the beach on a Saturday morning
I can see the sun smiling from the horizon
The weather is cool and the water is calm
I can feel the gentle hands of sea breeze caressing my face
There are so many people doing different activities
Men and women lying in their shorts and bikinis ready for sun bathing
Young boys and girls in the water swimming and having fun
Little kids on the beach building castle of sand
The dogs are running around barking wildly in excitement
Where ever i look i see beautiful people with smile on their pretty faces
Life seems so perfect just walking along the beach on a Saturday morning.

My Lost Love And The Seashore

Walkig on the seashore at noon
Watching the sun that will set soon
Everything reminds me of you
Every step i take, everything i do
Like my thoughts, the sky is cloudy
Like my feelings, so blue is the sea
I look at the horizone, so calm and clear
Remids me of our happy days when we were near
I look at the waves and i get upset
'Cause it reminds me of the fight we had
And tears roll down of my cheek
I lost you, will i find you if i seek?
I feel the water beneath my feet
Reminds me of your cold lips
Then my foot drowns into the sand
Like i drowned in you when you first held my hand
The wind blows and i feel your touch
My whole body shivers, oh i miss you so much
I see your smile as i look at the sun
Embraces me with love, makes me want to to you run
The sun is finally setting
And my desperate soul dying
I rest myself on a rock, so flexible like your body
Grab some sand and see how they are apart like me
Still tears rolling down from my cheek into the water
The time you find that teardrop, you'll be forgotten forever
 Every teardrop into the sea
Is how much you mean to me
Finally i see your face as i look at the moon
And the stars is so shiny like your eyes at noon
I still sited there, watching your face and eyes
And i'll wait to see your smile at sunrise
Yes, i lost you baby
but you're never far from me
For you're the sunset, the sea and its waves
And in my heart you'll forever remain engraved.

At the seaside

At the seaside after a stuffy

 ride. A landscape view of

 sun sea and sand. Land

 engulfed by water as the

 tide comes in towards us.

The sun high up yet still

 warming our whole body's,

 right through to our souls.

 A glorious yellow glow, what

 magnificent view amidst a bright

blue sky. Down by the seashore

waves tumble and fall, our children

play with faces aglow. Being brought

 in on the tidal flow.

I remember...

I am standing on top of a cliff,
Its pure white rocks gleaming in the sun.
The sea is gently lashing against them,
I can hear the waves rolling in, one by one.

I am standing at one of the furthest points,
Like someone about to jump.
The soft green grass beneath my feet,
Not a cloud in the clear, clear sky.

The Isle of Wight in the distance,
The sun gleaming down its beams.
The sea is just tumbling on and on, seeming to never end,
It is so still and tranquil, a pin prick would make a ripple.

The air smells sweet and fresh,
As I take a deep breathe in.
The birds up above, calling each other,
Enjoying the warmth of the sun.

I too can feel the sun on my face,
The warm glow of my skin.
I look down underneath me,
And watch the waves tumbling in.

I let out a big sigh.
Forgetting my fear,
Of the height that I am standing at,
Because... summer, is finally here.

Somewhere Between Fall and Falsehood

Her chin was resting between her knees
Her fingers were running smoothly through the sand
She didn’t notice my arrival
She just sat, staring out at the ocean

I could hear the drop of the hallowed cave
It echoed and faded at the foot of the fissure
The natural awning shielded us from the sun
As the waves lapped slowly at her feet and not much further from mine

“What a view,” I said, resting my weight against the rocky walls
She looked up at me as if coming from a dream
For a minute, she just sat there looking wretched
Heavy-handed, droopy mouth, bags under her eyes
But then she managed a smile; a weary smile
I returned it, then looked off at the ocean
The waves disappeared behind the horizon
And the sun fixed its reflection across the seascape

“Why are you here?” she asked with the effort of true curiosity
Squinting her eyes and pressing her face above her mouth
She’d been staring at the sun again
She could probably scarcely see me

I forced a smile and sat down close beside her
“The sun’s not going to help you, you know,” I said matter-of-factly
I continued to look at her as she buried her face in her legs again
Her dirty blonde hair wafting with the wind like meteor showers

“I know,” she said, muffling her speech
Looking away for a minute, I turned back to see her with tears in her eyes
“But what else will?” she genuinely asked, and softly sobbed
My mouth hung loose at her irregular directness
Eventually catching myself, I put my arm around her shoulder
“I will. We all will,” I said and smiled once again
In doing so she then relaxed her head on my shoulder
And for those few minutes, believed me fully

Somewhere deep within, she knew the truth though
And it would remain there, no matter how comforting my lies got

The World I See

The morning sun rolls around
Here, like Tick Tock's on a clock
Even the current of the sea is flowing

Wallowing seagulls in there flock
Only the sea breezes have ever seen
Revealing, the sun begins to rise
Laying upon a sight every one should see
Dynamic rays of shine and Beautiful zodiacal lights

In the Clouds where birds view from the sky heights

Soon I wish to see with my own undying eyes
Endless Beauty and essence
Enchanting Love and harmony highs

I fall for the endless....

I Fall For The Endless

My mirth mirthfully fled to its highest height
It Pursued the wind saline; the true guide in flight.
But my black friends wait daunting their jaunt and play
For their hopes for gifts from the endless; endlessly lay

The sand looked pricey in its precious shades
But I strode the coast, and left foot prints that’d fade
The land shimmered well, but that’s just the suns play
I don’t t sway like the sand for that sun far away

the bright ball now was waging war with the world,
it showed off its hold of the ultimate power.
my eyes get salted at a glimpse of that shine
but I can t even in dreams make that sea saline

like a woman’s core, the sea but stood strong,
it proved the coast weak and the raging sun wrong,
it grasped the shore and gobbled the big ball,
my heart fell for its love and endurance,
and filled with eternal radiance

Where Else Would I Be?

Author Note: When reading, picture the beauty of a setting sun at sea.

Steadfast,
surveying in appreciation the mastery of creation.
A kaleidoscope of color, blends one into another,
producing varying intensities,
fluid,
wispy,
in the aftermath of sun setting;
a vision,
a rustic portrait of my vessel rushing,
as to prolong this rare site.

Water mimics glass,
nary a ripple before me;
changes to chaotic in my wake.

I am enchanted by the feast placed before me,
fortunate among men to bear witness.

This portal between heaven and earth,
this is my place.
I am a sailor, where else would I be?

Overshadow

As we walked alone
Under a golden sun
By the water side
Gazing unto her
Holding her tight
Under the wedging blue sky
She puts her hands in mine
Mine in hers
Her lips on mine
Bringing on me a peaceful bliss
We were not alone
We were just a shadow
In the romance of the sun and sea
But still, our romance
Shadowed the affectionate sea

Exhalted

I saw the Sun and the Moon take a stance in the universe.
And an unknown Star placed over them was put in charge.
The whole entire inhabitants scattered themselves at large.
And all the lands and seas became separated by a diverse.

The Sun Shined brightly in the west never to set in a curse.
The Moon gleamed fully bright to the east as the surcharge.
The door had been widely opened and many came by barge.
The stress was great because the world went into a reverse.

Fate and destiny was being dished out like a deck of cards.
Skies lit up and the Stars came back out like never before.
And the palm trees took up to the seas like standing guards.
And from this stemmed growth from that one opened door.

The Sun and Moon are exalted above and beyond you all,
And so is the Star in charge of those that flaw in its thrall.

The Beach

The sun kisses my skin with a thousand burning lips,
Making it sensitive beneath my gentle fingertips.
The shade offers no comfort in the miserable heat
I wish there was someplace cool where I can retreat
So I head to the beach where the water is so blue,
Ocean so clear that you can see straight through
Seagulls selfishly screaming “MINE” at everything
Loving the noise that these winged gluttons sing
Sand so soft that my feet sink in and disappear
Children laugh gleefully as they jump off the pier
Waves hit the shore leaving behind thick seaweed
And hermit crabs race back to the water with speed
Beach volleyball games and dogs catching Frisbees
Teenagers flying their kites in the soft, pleasant breeze
Ladies sunbathing while their men apply sunscreen
Laying there peacefully and looking very serene
I’m standing on the beach taking in my surroundings
As the burn from the sun continues its pounding
I run into the water to cool off in the sun’s ire
And the ocean is where I relax from the wicked sun’s fire
Like ice cold lemonade caressing a parched throat
The water refreshes me as I slowly drift afloat
The water kisses my skin with a thousand soothing lips,
Making it silky smooth beneath my gentle fingertips.

Spirit of the Dunes

The sun fades towards the west
The loving beauty of our star in sunset is expressed
The majestic mountains expanding past horizon trees and beaches that are by sea caressed
All by the divine power behind the sun are blessed

Any time soon
Appears the blue visage of full moon
It illuminates the mysterious dune
Cool breeze carries sea and mountain fragrance in this transcendent night of June

The sea holy is just a small flower yet hand behind it puts in ecstasies
Because as much as sea holy has many copies
There is only one spirit among hollies
That is extended soul and by it formed neural tree has no boundaries

That neural flame and its version of nonlinearity
It is the testament of this spirits adaptability
And its acuity
But there is more to its dexterity

Soul of the just has many windings
Choosing the right destiny is one of spirit’s of dunes blessings
He can decipher the divine writings
And with it his soul will be as pure as one of wellsprings

The Days When Sun Came to Play

It amazes me what warmth is set free,
On long summer days all spent in play,
By a smile, and chuckle and a promise to stay.

Standing in awe at the amber sea,
Are father, mother, daughter and son,
Staring out where all day, Sun had shone.

Before it hides away from the night,
it glares forth a challenge to Family,
"Can you make the very most of me?"

Sun peaks through the windows at dawn,
Waking Family with a chuckle and smile,
"Are you awake, making the most of my wiles?"

Sun follows Family's cycles to the forest as well.
Guarding them with warmth, kissing well their city skin,
"Are you playing a game by going in and out of the dim?"

At lunch time Sun is high in the sky,
Joining in, stealing a little of Family's ice cream,
"I'm sorry, I don't mean it to seem mean!"

In afternoon Sun follows Family to sea,
Warming the water and highlighting the rocks,
"Can you see me greeting boats at the docks?"

Evening creeps in, chasing Sun away.
But as it dips down it says it's Goodnight,
"Bless you all 'till tomorrow, I'll wake you early and bright!"

No Destination

With my heart in my hand I hit the road
Not all that wiser yet another year old
I don’t always believe all that I’m told
No destination as the journey unfolds.

The sky is so blue and it melts into the sea
The rhythm of the waves sound like music to me
They crash on the rocks and then retreat
The constant battle between where the land and sea meet.

I take off my shoes and feel the warmth of the sand
I drift off to thoughts of a far away land
The people are talking but I can’t understand
A sea gull walks over to the place where I stand.

So much beauty I can’t take it all in
I follow my tracks to see where to begin
I think that it is time to either sink or swim
So I take off my shirt and just jump in.

The water is cold yet I feel so alive
I submerge myself through a wave I dive
I come back up on the other side
The waves provide a pretty good ride.

I get out of the water the sun warms my soul
Often I feel like I swim in a fish bowl
Going in circles but never getting anywhere
I am just try to reach here from there.

The sun goes down and then disappears
I seem to have lost all of my fears
I turn to leave and the ocean seems to wave
It seems like my spirit is what it shall save.

Flow of Nature and Reality

Over the horizon I see the sun as bright as always.
I can see the sea were the sun touches it.
The line that divides two worlds you can see clearly.
The suns image of fantasy and beauty relies on imaginations.
The sea water glimmers as the sun skims the light on it.
In the reflection there shows life twinkling just right.
The movement of the sea water flows endlessly.
It brushes against a solid object in the distance.
Large boulders weathered in time were blocking the waves.
Then I realized how unstable our world is compare to nature.

The Master of All

The Master of All
Looked down on his world,
Looked down on his world and cried.

“How could I have created
(Was it He who had made it?)
Such a sad world?”
He said with a sigh.

So He decided, to make a storm,
A storm so wild and free,
“To wipe them all out!”
He said with a shout,
So the other creatures,
Are in harmony.

So He went to the Ocean,
With new devotion,
To ask him to make a cloud.
But the Ocean just laughed,
Rather quite Baffled,
And roared in a voice rather loud.

“I can’t just achieve,
For that’s not how it be,
It’s Sun’s job to do that.
I merely collect it,
So that it’s not hectic,
How could you, not know this fact?”

Well the Master of All,
He looked quite appalled to be spoken to in this way,
So he dried up the Ocean
(And with new devotion)
Sauntered along on His way.

He went to the Sun,
(Not to be outdone)
To ask him to conjure a cloud.
And though he tried, he did try,
He could not comply,
because the ocean below was all dry.

He said”HA! I cannot,
and it is your fault,
you dried up the water below.
I need some water to make a storm
Ask the cloud there to perform!”
The Master of all,
he looked quite appalled,
to be spoken to in this way.
So he put out the sun,
(Not to be outdone),
and sauntered along on his way.

So he went to the cloud
(He wouldn’t be cowed)
To tell him to make a storm.
But he couldn’t do it,
But smiling through it
He said (with a breeze rather warm):

“I can’t,” he said simply.

Well, the Master of All,
He looked quite appalled,
To be spoken to in this way.
So he blew out the cloud,
(Not to be cowed)
And sauntered along on his way.

When he was done,
He realized, with a gleam,
He’d destroyed every being who could
Realize his dream.

Now he would never,
Have his rain,
Never his floods,
Never his pain.
Not his lightning, not his thunder, nor his death,
Not his grand display of omnipotence.
Tsunamis, hurricanes,
Typhoons, blizzards,
Earthquakes, tornadoes,
Plaques, and giant meteors.

And he sat on his throne, and angrily steamed.
At the loss of his magnificent dream.

The Night of the Moon

It's the night of the moon
and though it's not in my sight.
The magic will be here soon.
The full moon takes the stage tonight.

I feel as low as the tide.
The dark clouds set the tone.
Watching waves and sand collide.
I walk the beach all alone.

The clouds are fighting the sun.
They can't keep the bright light behind.
Sunset and beauty become one.
Doubt and hope crowd my mind.

Brilliant hues of orange,pink,and red
contrasting with clouds dark and gray
The sun paints a picture before bed
and then takes the painting away.

Splashing way out there in the sea.
Winking stars playfully laughing out loud.
I wonder,how this can be?
The night wont carry a cloud.

Where have all the clouds gone?
They've been plucked out of the sky.
The battle with the sun was been won.
I question not how, only why?

There's a bright glow in the west.
The curtain goes up for the show.
Dancing lights on the water are next.
Slowly rising the moon seems to grow.

Sometimes it's such a spiritual thing.
When nature reveals what it can truly do.
I can almost hear this moon sing.
So extravagant, it must be alive too.

My memory goes back to a time.
When the moon stole the show like this.
I was with a girl that was so fine
and remembered that, that night we kissed.

But my memories are what had me down.
I can't remember too many good.
There was the clouds at sundown
and suddenly I understood.

If I only kept good thoughts in my minds eye
and make all the bad ones just finish.
Maybe then my thoughts wont seem to magnify
what my memory can't seem to diminish.

Out with the bad thoughts in with the new.
I'll fill my head with good memories only.
But it seems that there are so few
that my thoughts might just get lonely.

That makes a smile come to my lips
and I wonder, did I just laugh out loud?
I watch enchanted as the moon slips
across the sky without a cloud.

My mood has changed I realize.
I knew I felt that pull.
Now I know hope never dies.
Hope lives in a moon this full.

You Are By Amy Matthew ASCAP c) 2005

 I look at your face
and all I see
is heavens angel smiling at me
everyday and every night
I thank God
for my shining light..
you are the one thing that I hold true
and I hope you feel the same way too girl
cuz

 you are
the one that I adore
you are
what life’s worth living for..
you are
everything to me
the air the earth and under the sea
you are
the sun and gentle rain.. only my heart just can’t explain
the way that I feel when I’m with you.. ooh
no one makes me feel the way you do..

 ooh I watch you sleep
and all I can do.
is close my eyes
and breathe with you..
every sight and every sound
this heart beats with the love we found..
ooh you are all I’m livin for and I can’t imagine wanting more no

 you are
the one that I adore
you are
what life’s worth living for..
you are
everything to me
the air the earth and under the sea
you are
the sun and gentle rain.. only my heart just can’t explain
the way that I feel when I’m with you.. ooh
no one makes me feel the way you do..

Florida Longing

Pin fish silver lick the waves
rain drops crater the sand
Feeling foolish, longing strong
missing the sun in my hand
Caucus of colors sweep through my mind
calling my heart to it's beat
Feeling fed up with this New England gray
drizzle delirious bleak
Fly me to Florida
Strip off the coats
Break out the bathing suits
Blow up the floats
Sail me on waters
of mint green and sand
Humid deep breathing
The sun in my hand
where pin fish silver lick the waves
and rain drops cool off the sand
in a three minute storm which gets carried away
by the sun stretching out to my hand.

Ocean Moods

I walk the beach early in the morning,
The sand cleansed of footprints
Erased like a chalkboard,
The glassy calm water joins
The rising orange sun
After passing dark hours
Kneading the sand.

The sun fades to yellow
The ocean mood changes as
Waves spew forth
In a clap of thunder
The salt smell rising;
The force of the water controls me:
I fall and taste the salt.

The water creeps up
Covering the beach
Filling the moats of sand castles;
The afternoon sun goes from yellow to orange,
The waves are ebbing, retreating.

Dream On The Beach

Soft wind blows at my skin
warm and fuzzy;
Like my cocoa brown eyes
My hazel skin feels warm against the sun....
Maybe if I could fly I would
Kiss the sky.....and take a piece
of the warm sun to my heart.
I breathe beauty as I sit
On the blackest of sand and
My long black hair blowing to
The sky like black fire
Maybe if I was
a flaming godess
I would rule it all;
The sun the sky the moon
In full glory.
I feel the warm and fuzzy
Wind against my bronze like skin
I smile to the sky as
The rushes over the sand
Tickling my feet softly.
Maybe if I was as free as the
Water at the beach
I would be free as
Blue birds and bees
My love for nature
Frees my soul as I fly
To a beautiful heaven.....
My dream fades as I come back to
my bronze colored body
Covered with black sand
Dark as the smooth midnight

Waves and Whispers

We huddle over the mass of our treasures
with stinging skin and salt ringed hair
while holding a washed blue sea star shining
we whisper with bittering breath on the tide
The waves peel thus and entice us to dig
with backs holding skies and the sun raging noon
while fingers break open in white salty clean
we meticulously scan the horizon for change
We stop when their fins slice the water in arcs
with hands shielding eyes and our lips flooding smiles
while standing like beacons with roots on the land
we wonder if dolphin eyes strain to see us
The moment they pass we are back hard at work
with bellies of hunger and cotton tongued thirst
while feeling the sun on our skin to take home
we whisper that this is the time of our lives.

Breathe the Beach

Brown berry skin all covered in sand
White ribbon hair with pale yellow ends
Salty in smile, a grin to the wind
Children born unto the sea
Plastic pail castles with driftwood for flags
Shells clink and clankle in white paper bags
Noon is a time warp that stretches and drags
the sun 'till it snaps ricochet
Boats flying by us with cursive pun names
Dolphins below them in bubbling games
Cameras snap photos in permanent frames
all in the blink of an eye
Brutal the afternoon people to bake
Some soaking sun sleep, and some wide awake
All with a vigor the sea breath to take
to carry it's purity home.

WHAT IT MEANS.....

The sun dipped low....
On a horizon tinged with gold and red
The sea calm
Such things transient so

When you become aware...
What counts....
Is the things you share

It takes time....
To understand...
To appreciate a single day..
A sunset...
Golden sand
A chosen moment
Heaven sent

A flock of birds flew overhead,
on a horizon tinged with gold and red
One day...
You will understand
What is means.....
To me....
What needs to be said

All these things you can hold,
in your heart
On a stormy day
On a horizon tinged with red and gold
The reflected beauty within,
is constant so
The sea, calm
Such things ...
Transient though

The sun dipped low
Hid behind a darkened sea
These things I hold...
Inside of me
With you....
What it means.....
To me..
I hold deep so

PARADISE

Cool water lapping at the edge of white sand,
You,
holding my hand

Warmth of sun,
warmth of hand,
Warmth of love,
Warmth of sand

No one for miles,
wearing nothing,
but our smiles

Footprints in sand,
none but our own,
walking along the shore,
we know what it is all for

Hand in hand,
walking on sun bleached sand,
no words we can say,
on the beach of eternal play

For, no words are needed,
our thoughts,words are as one.
You and I under golden sun,
hand in hand
on sun bleached sand

Shade of palm,
you by my side,
serene and calm,
the beach stretched far and wide

Wearing nothing but our smiles,
we can see for miles,
paradise perfect,
crystal clear sea,
blue and green reflect,
the love you have for me

Cool water lapping at edge of white sand
You,
holding my hand
