I've Scribbled This Song For You

I've Scribbled This Song For You...

I'm wasting my days,
my empty nights too,

I should have held on,
but I simply lost you,

now I stagger along,

wearing broken smiles,
in between hell and you,
there's a million miles,

yes, I should have kept,
you close to my skin,

soaking your warmth,
but you were laughing,

at my foolish grin...

now I'm all broken,
and torn apart,

but what the hell,
I was always late,
for the tolling of the bell,

and now...

now I stagger along,

wearing broken smiles,
in between hell and you,
there's a million miles,

so kiss me now like you once did,
I'm tired of being so carefully hid,

la laa laa la laa laa laa...

(repeat to fade)

Dancing with Despair

I have danced while music played,
and smiled, although despairingly,
through tears at smiles not meant for me.
My soft eyes, though brown and drab,
have strived to glitter, with scant success,
as others shone bright, reflecting light
beneath their lashes, lush and long.
While I lurched in crazy drunken spirals,
others, precise, performed their pirouettes
and slid across the polished floor
and smiled and laughed and more:
completely at their ease.
What terminal disease decrees
despair my partner in this dance?
Is there no chance to sit the music out,
a listener, discrete, devout?
While others whirl and dip, I slide and slip.
Must I be a half-a-pair with stumbling feet,
inept novice, graceless lout who, led about,
never has an easy air dancing with despair?

Raptor Dance

The sky screams,
air is thick.
Seconds like days,
years 'tween each tick.

Tit for tat the raptors dance.
Each step wounds, talons like bayonets.
Earth below quakes at each traded blow.
Foundations shaken by spat of foes.

Frosted, frozen, clad in ice.
The world stands still, fear the vice.
The center may boil, but winter-wrapped still
She cannot reach out, no pow'r to stop the kill.

Alas, Earth stands back and wills done be the fray.
Final thundering shrill shrieks, 'tis gone for today.

The scars still remain,
Unbeknownst to they that tread.
Earth still feels the pain,
Still feels gelid winter's dread.

A Land Bearing Green White Green

Which way leads to the
land of green white
green?
Which way are we
heading?
   A country the wicked
bears the rulership, and
the people sighing
continuously.
   A terrible thing sprouts
beneath the sun: a
pregnant woman
delivering not.
Imps come to lime-light
by snuffing air from the
goose that laid the
golden eggs.
The blind guiding the un
blind.
The weak suppressing
the strong-a terrible
thing.
Like the overthrow of the
gods at Mt. Olympus by
the Titans.
A country where also
thieves appear as men of
integrity.
Land of green white
green,which way?
A land where the
enlightened ones are
overshadowed and
peanuts given to them.
The masses are dogs that
eat the crumbs.
 Which way to go you
Land?
Iliterates stand on
podium of power
bellowing orders as milk
of sorrow known as
dividends of democracy
is passed around.
The machine of progress
manned by the
unproductive.
"There is better
tomorrow" we hear.
Land of green white
green,my country
where rule of law walk
beside anarchy.
The proles are sentenced
to adversity,and there
endured death-like trials.
Chai! Aru! People
dancing on thorns
whimpering as they
throng
along.
I see a new sun rising
from the horizon,hope is
rekindled as its rays
grace on hopeless bodies.
 Look!! there soon be
change!

The Trouble Tree

Years ago near New Orleans
There lived people who were not free
So every night they would gather
To leave their worries at the Trouble Tree

The Trouble Tree was a giant magnoila
With fragrant blossoms snowy white
As the sweet perfume filled the air
They would sing and dance in the pale moonlight

Every day they worked for the master
Picking cotton or planting corn
Late at night they would gather
And sing and dance 'til early morn

The Trouble Tree grew deep in the bayou
Hidden away from you and me
The only ones who knew it's power
Were those people who were not free

Many years have come and gone
And all the people should be free
But I'm sure there are many of us
Who wish we had a Trouble Tree

Pricked

Your love pricks me like a rose each thorn grows but no one knows Your so full of
it as it shows so carry on now go on, go. I'm fed up with the phony and i'm
through with the tears, you couldn't pay me all your money to make up for those
years. Someone help me I feel faint how could I think he was such a saint and
worst of all I let me fall into a spiral down below. A magic called love carried
by the dove of someone I use to know.

Masquerade

You saunter through the double doors
Head held high
Chest puffed out
Putting on airs
You think you’re so clever, so deceiving
Showing up baring the most ornate mask
But I see right through
The mask that you wear tonight
You think it will conceal
You think just tonight
In this hour
You can be somebody else
But you’re dancing with the Belle of the Ball
This is MY Masquerade
And this is the 147th event
You just don’t recognize me
Because I wear a different mask each time
Your mask is cheap material
Sequins missing, feathers askew
Such feeble attempts
I smell your bravado
Putrid and reeking, stinking up the air
But I see right through
I’ve donned masks my whole life
That’s why I am the bearer of this sash
That you see around my neck
“Strongest Person I Know”
But I allow no one to gaze under the mask
Sure I play the Belle oh so well
But if you all saw beneath
Saw WHY I’ve had to wear masks
You’d strip me of my title
You’d rip off my sash
Break the pearls from my neck
You’d run for the door tonight
Quicker than Cinderella at the stroke of midnight
That’s the beauty of a Masquerade
You can pretend to be something you’re not
When one guise becomes worn
When it loses its sparkle
It’s glamour and charm
That first catches your eye
Well it’s quite alright
Because I have a treasure trove
BURSTING with masks
Grab another and keep dancing
Twirling the night away
Never skipping a beat
But when the music finally comes to an end
When the door closes and the final guest departs
Empty wine glasses are seen scattered all around
The only sound is the echo of my heels
When the confetti lies lifeless on the floor
That’s when I remove my mask
Exhausted, worn and weary
When I gladly, almost desperately
Take off my tattered sash
And throw it beneath my feet
Because I’m not resilient and strong now
I feel weak, frail and reclusive in my realm
That’s when the tears start to brim
That’s when I wish someone else held the title
So stripped and naked
Alone to clean up the mess
Everyone else has left behind
But there’s no one to there to pick up the sash
Just me and the sound of my tears
Echoing as they hit the floor
Almost fearfully I pick up the sash
Dust off the confetti
Smooth out the wrinkles
Before placing it back around my neck
As I throw my shoulders back
Standing taller than ever
Wiping away tears that no one saw
I walk back to my trunk
My trunk of the most decorative
Ornate, obscuring masks
Finding another to wear
As I prepare for the next façade
The next Masquerade

Dance in the Rain

There you go again crying in the rain.
You pour your heart out and your tears
fall like raindrops from heaven.
You turn away from this world and
contented yourself with isolation.

The rain became your refuge,
your only friend.

If only you have looked back.

I was there crying with you in the rain,
the sole witness of the tears you have shed.
The one who's dying to reach you within
those walls you have built around you.

There I go again running in the rain.
For this heart constantly cries and goes to
the past that was us,
And memories became my only friend in isolation.

The rain hid my tears,
And I pretended to enjoy the droplets hitting my face.

If only you have reached for my hand.

I was just there patiently waiting,
For you to see, to feel
that I'm crying for us.

But then,
the rain may have been too loud,
for you to hear the sound of my tears
falling in the ground.

Go Go Girl

Pretty girl dancing on stage with an edge.
Hiding softness with cold eyes that look dead.

Costumes and glitter a mans fantasy.
Not the person she thought one day she'd be.

Daddy's little girl that was yesterday.
Today she's Lost in the rolls that she plays.

She looks in the eyes of the men as they stare.
Dancing and giarating swinging her hair.

Feeling the beat as she moves to the song.
Trying to believe she's doing nothing wrong.

Hoots and hollers they say take it all off.
Dirty old man at the front with a cough.

Dancing for money she has bigger dreams.
At home all alone her tears fall in streams.

A few more months maybe another year
Yet look at these girls that are still dancing here

Lies so convincing one day they will stop
Pouring out dreams never reaching the top

The Dance Of Poverty

The Dance Of PovertyThe dance of poverty woe,
(Oh the cold);
the dance that sorrow knows
and throws
...at each and every one us.

We starve, we pain, we weep
we reify the woes we keep.

Within our chest, which beats-
lies a forgotten heart that bleeds,
to the rhythm of the broken drum
of abandonment.

Beat the drum, kick it, tell it "it is worthless"
and forget it.
The drum will lie there in the streets regardless;
abandoned for the world to see.

It is the tragic tale of system abuse
and abandonment.

It is a dance eternal;

It is a forbidden ritual;

It is a tale of life and death;

It is poverty...

now forget it.

Dance Upon Your Grave

The day that you die I will dance upon your grave
And shed myself from the shackles of your shame
I would put you there myself, if only I were brave
Knowing now that your monster can’t be tamed
For your demons, I no longer could be blamed

Your death would turn me loose
Set me free from your abuse
And I would dance like I was a little girl
From around my neck I’d cut the noose -
If only they’d remove you from my world

The same sad song

She was bent on torment,
spinning around in her heels,
leaving marks on the dance floor
as he spit his faith into a beer can.
She wept for the morning,
in her own way.
Her comfort cradled
in the weathered arms
of a transient artist.
 A 6 string that he’ll never play here again;
But she always finds those same
strings that tie her to this town.
The notes that keep her going,
                                               dancing,
                                                            writhing under every moon
                                                                                with men like him.
Hoping the sounds they make together,
will sate the burn of dawn’s solace.
Praying for a song that will make it til’ morning.

Phantoms Dance

Phantoms dance
in sunlit rooms

And shadows gather
in the corners
of the cavernous mansion
in which I live
and hide

Inside where there’s
no one else but me,

Refracted and reflected,
stretched out in all dimensions

The shadows offer
thunderous whispers

fAnd the phantoms rehearse
their eerie, silent,
hushed and beckoning dance

In the hesitating stillness
of the moment before
I release my captured breath,

The phantoms
and the shadows

Flutter wings of dread,
fear swells up,

Extends beyond my skin,

Dry-icing me, enticing me
to dance the dance
of phantom shadows,

Enthralled, enchanted,

Adrift inside a dream

Rain Dance

Upon the wind
a soothing voice
echoes prolonged memories

could it be

the angel who sits upon my shoulder
that mythical fallacy of "always with me"
or hath death played a cruel joke
with me bearing the punch line
struggling to hear
unable to touch
searching the horizon
blinded by hope

where art thou

desperately I seek thee
upon petals of flowers
though graveyards of smiles
within the eyes of innocence
who play hide and seek
never to be found
oblivious to discovery

my soul aches

for the comfort of your touch
those imperfect crippled hands
blessed with a dove's softness
cascading light upon a dark soul
the power to heal contained in a voice
that fluttered from a pure heart
never to be heard again
lest there be a storm
and prayers for rain are granted.....

For Tupac Shakur (1971-1996)

"a lover, whose love was often deliberately
misunderstood; but who will live in the sun
and the rains and whose name will echo
through all the winds, whose spirit will flower
and who like Emmitt Hill and Malcolm X will be
remembered by his people for the great MAN
HE COULD HAVE BEEN and most especially
for the BEAUTIFUL BOY HE WAS" - Nikki Geovanni

Scars

.The survivors. Yes, that's what we call ourselves. We've lived through the terrors of life.
Gentle hands, soft spoken, safe in his arms. Obey, and listen, and the swirling melody of
love plays throughout the scene. And yet, this masquerade is always broken to reveal the
truth. Words sharper than daggers explode around our ears. Bruises appear on our skin.
We've "fallen", the clumsy females we are. We fell. A sports injury, a car crash, a freak
accident. Freak accident of hatred. Much like the lion, quiet and stalking, and then exploding
into a flurry of the hunt. Of the hurt. Swift blows, and blood drips from noses, tears stream
from eyes in a silver river of desperate please, bruises decorate us in tawnys and majestic
purples. Reminders of our "wrong doings". We need to pay for our sins. The only witness are
the walls, and the moonbeams that dance about our dizzy heads. On the ground. Steel toes
to the back. A crack. Fire. Pain. And then, a cool silence. The rage subsides, and apologies
appear. "I'll never do it again" and "I lost control" replay in the back of our heads. Our deja-
vu from the previous night. Always the same. Always the pain. The survivors. Thats what we
call ourselves. And by the dark dance of the moon against the velvet sky, as stars twinkle
like sequins, and fade into the dawn, we pick ourselves up. New excuses. New plates to buy.
A new alarm clock. New knives, doors, but no new hearts, stabbed until the hemmoragging
hurts like a firestorm. Alone. We are alone. We, the Survivors, have lived not an apocalypse,
not a plane crash, but the darkest part of our lives. Therapy can lock it away, but never
remove the dark stain of dried blood upon our souls. Lost. We come together, and escape.
We start anew, but are never the same. Dark dreams, paranoia haunting our shadows, and
the jumps that come with shattered glass of the clink of dishes. Never the same, but
stronger. What doesn't kill you is sure to leave a horrible scar, but wounds heal And while
scars remain as a reminder of the pain endured, we are, for the better, stronger. We
survived.

Our sad regrets

                        Our sad regrets

We travel on through new days light
And dance to the music true,
Until a breeze blows a sweeter song
          To you with sad regret

Yet night forever becomes a day
          When winter turns to spring,
And our sun shall shine its softest birth
          Before a sad regret

Come feel the breadth of morning sweet
In this place where a sunshine breaks,
And let our jest make worth of morn
          Then lead to sad regrets

Consider the sign of an honorable thought
Then dance to the music true,
When you hear the sound of a sweeter song
          Here in sad regret

Then and now {Double Posting}

               {Then}

I welcome you all to the dance
A place where souls are held in trance
Destiny is our truest fate
Taking your soul will feel great
I was born unto this life
To distribute pain and strife
There is nothing you can do
I shall have this dance with you
As we dance across the floor
I shall show you what destiny is for
You can try with all your might
I will have this dance tonight
As we dance you should know
I will crawl up in your soul
So take my hand and join the dance
I hold your soul in my trance
No need to try and run away
With your soul I shall play
By the time I am through
Nothing that you can do
For I shall leave you like a shell
As I take your soul with my spell
There is nothing like a dark romance
So will you please join the dance?

                      {Now}

Beauty can be rated by so many things
Like the noise birds make as they sing
Beauty is a flower growing from a seed
It also is a baby tender with its needs
If a person takes the time to look around
There is so much beauty on this earth to be found
Beauty can be a mountain all covered up with snow
Or it can be firelight with its entrancing glow
One thing in my life I have come to know
No beauty is as beautiful as the beauty of the soul

I posted this this way to show how
much poetry has changed me. I
guess now you understand why
I wanted to bury them old poems.
Sometimes like right now I just
can't help but cry for my pain is
very deep.

Dance

Take your hand and put it out forward,
Than swing out out to the side, c'mon don't be a coward.
This is fun, now swing your hips from side to side,
Remember all the times you couldnt express yourself and you cried.

But now your can swing your legs and feet any way you want,
Look for that new move that you looked for your whole life like a hunt.
Grab someone by the hand and let them join you in that awesome moment,
I promise you, you will love this feeling you are about to feel.

Turn up the music and dance your heart out,
Move to the beat and go wild and feel like your out of sight.
This is your moment, don't let anyone take that away for you,
This is not happening too slow and i tell you that that's the truth.

Put some head phones on and go to your own world of greatness,
Bust a move like you never did before, I promise it's harmless.
Make your heart feel what I am feling right now and take my hand,
I promise that I will make you smile and scream with joy and stand.

Your Vanity

Misery weighs down your eyes, as you begin to read.
In this dance of lies, you'll forever lead.
If you can't stand, I'll see you on the other side.
Take my hand, for now the son has died.
I'll reach under the skin, and steal away your disease.
I'll fight and win, as Death becomes a tease.
I fell into fantasy, as I feel your touch.
Swallow your vanity, for you cry too much.
The string of white lights, a full moon casting.
The shadowed nights, are never lasting.
Forever wandering, these cold dark seas.
The world squandering, crying the harshest pleas.
The voiceless won't rest, as they continue squalling.
On this endless quest, I continue falling.
Fall children, dance with every death boy and girl.
The monster will fight again, yet we're all so coy.
Lets fall to our knees, and begin to pray.
Do they hear my pleas, down together we'll lay.
Unrelenting omnipotence, nuturing malevolence.
Angels and Demons, bow before the other.
The unknowing sons, begin to kill their brother.
Leave for me, the crumbling headstones.
Ignore and leave me be, for death has shown.
Leave me to sleep, in this desecrated sanctuary.
In these dreams I weep, yet I tarry.
Will you be my love, will we watch the world burn?
What are the thoughts of, for the dead forever yearn.
No I don't want to die, no not tonight.
I can no longer try, I don't want to fall into the light.
As I climb the stairs, I reach toward the stars.
The heart tears, as it feels the scars.
I begin my ivy climbing, for the voiceless call.
It's the matter of timing, for who will begin their fall?

DANCE OF INFERTILITY

STANDING ALL ALONE
THINKING NON BUT ALL
NATURE AND DESTINY AT
ITS BEST
AT WAR BUT WHO WINS
GRIEVE NOT WOMAN
GRIEVE NOT
FOR IS THERE A REASON TO
NO SEED CAN EVER SURVIVE
IN THIS LAND
WHICH YOU’VE NURTURED
PLOUGHED AND TILTED FOR
MANY YEARS
YET NO FRUIT HAS IT EVER
BORE
STOP DREAMING THEN
STOP DREAMING
LOOK HOW YOU LIE SOUR
WITH MILK
YOUR PRIDE OF WOMANHOOD
HAS GIVEN YOU NO PRIZE
SEEDLINGS WOULD YOU
NEVER TRIM NOR PRUN
FOR MOTHER YOU WOULD
NEVER BE CALLED

WHY LET THIS EMPTINESS
RUIN YOU
AND INFERTILITY HOOT YOU
WHILE YOU SIT AND SING
THIS SONG OF MYSTERY AND
MISERY
THOUGH YOUR CALABASH IS
BROKEN
AND YOUR BAMBOO FALLEN
STAND UP AND DANCE IN
AGONY HAPPILY
FOR LIFE ITSELF IS A MIRAGE
THE MORE YOU LOOK THE LESS
YOU SEE
THEN TAKE OFF YOUR CLOTH
OF SACK
AND WEAR YOUR GOWN OF
RAFFIA AND COWRIES MADE
SHAKE TO THE TUNE
THAT LIFE PLAYS FOR YOU
COS’ ONE DAY IT WOULD ALL
END
WHEN ALL THE DRUMS WEARS
AND TEARS
AND NATURE WITH DESTINY
ALL LOSE THE GAME

Hollow Puppet

Hollow puppet dancing on her strings,
Fear, fear please don't trim her wings.
Crumple down to hard dirt floor,
Never, never to dance any more.

Limbs this way, that way thrown;
No movement truly her own.
Dark, empty all around,
No purpose, value anywhere found.
Meaning escaped,
Fear evaporate.

Hollow puppet dancing on her strings,
Begging, desperate, please trim her wings.
Pain, pain go away,
Let me dance no more this way.

A Teardrop Away

I hear a hawk cry to its mate
Takes me back before "too late"
Lonesome lyric desert wind
Sings me into your arms again

How I wish that it could be
not just a dream but flesh & blood reality
Gone but not forgotten, you will always be
just a teardrop away in my fondest memory

The whisper of the wind brings you back again
to dance among the shadows of my heart
Thunder echoing down the hills
I hear your voice so close it chills

Lightening dances cross the sky
recalls the laughter in your eyes
Suddenly we're once again
Dizzy dancing in the rain

Gone but not forgotten, you will always be
just a teardrop away in my fondest memory
The whisper of the wind brings you back again
to dance among the shadows of my heart

Gone so swiftly without goodbyes
but I know true love never dies
As I kneel at this headstone
I know I will never walk alone

For you'll always live within my heart
guiding me from the deepest part
Gone but not forgotten, you will always be
just a teardrop away in my fondest memory

The whisper of the wind brings you back again
to dance among the shadows of my heart

Marionette

She sits in silence upon the bed
hands folded neatly, but with drooping head.
Her gossamer chords, silvery and fair
float gently through the winter's evening air.

Slowly his music fills her hollow form
as she waits for him to strum her gossamer chords.
A dancing silhouette, bending to his will
spiraling, swirling, or capriciously still.

His fingers dance across those gossamer chords
as she silently floats across the floor.
Tirelessly she performs the night through
never once missing her cue.

As his haunting music begins to fade
and he slowly turns away.
She slumps back against the bed
hands folded neatly, but with drooping head.

Wise is The Dance Of The Sky

A river of tears poured down her face;
Ocean softly lapping at her toes.
Anxiety built up in her chest,
While the silver dripped down from her nose.

Curls a shade of chocolate milk
Framed her fragile, milk-white face.
The wind rustled through the willow trees,
Her phobia giving quite the chase.

The night was deep, the night was dark,
Her independence hated now.
Their weapons were the cruelly said,
But to the wolves she wouldn't bow.

Her ears a trashcan for their hate.
No light bulb waited at the end,
The tunnel would stay oh so dark.
Hope did not wait around the bend.

And then painted across the midnight sky,
Made her peer up at the night.
A rocket ship? A shooting star!
She wished and found her will to fight.

She grabbed her shoe from off the sand
The other taken by the tide.
She watched the inky purple sky,
Hoping the paintbrush would abide

She saw it coming from afar.
A feather floating in the breeze.
She made a wish, and let it go,
With just a simple whisper, “Please.”

The silver ring that shone so bright,
Guided her to her well-worn path.
She unpacked her suitcase beyond the “swift”.
She feared no mortal's fearless wrath.

Running would never be an answer,
As the Hippopotamus would surely tell.
When someone intrudes your territory,
Defend it, and defend it well.

For though he may seem gentle,
And walk too slow a pace,
The Hippo is one fierce beast,
So she wore him on her necklace.

The darkest is before dawn
The mighty Polar Bear will say
The gold medallion in the sky
Will hide for six months and a day.

Yet he stands on his icy shoal,
Always awaiting the warming rays.
The sun always returns to us.
Yes, that's what the Polar Bear says.

Dance with me

From the moment I saw you,
I knew it was love.
Your embrass only proved me right.
No one in the world,
Could compare with your grace,
I am yours and everyone knows it.
We have danced on mountain tops,
and we have crawled through the valleys.
Together we fought in the war.
Somewhere along the way,
I lost your hand,
and you slipped back into the darkness.
I see you down there,
One foot in the grave,
with your eyes turned up to the sun.
I'll wait for you here,
on top of this hill,
please just try to make it.
The music is playing,
can you hear it my dear?
I need you to be my partner.

My Last Dance

Marrryyy Jane! How I loved you so!
Why'd you leave me here? Why'd you have to go?
We were happy, why'd he take you away?
You should've just stopped him, you should've just stayed!
The feeling you gave me was too good to lose
If I had a choice, I'd have to choose...
Id love you forever. I'd hold you close.
I'd love you forever, but I've received the dose.
The dose was government, and the law.
I don't agree with them, I think it's all flawed.
But don't worry Mary Jane, this love is true.
If you still love me...then I still love you...

Mildred's Last Dance

she’s looking behind her; she’s looking ahead
shes running around with crazy thoughts in her head
her violets are green; her roses are dead
she’s running from voices and the things that they said
they say hello; she screams goodbye
she’s screaming at children and she doesn’t know why
she hears them laughing so she starts to cry
she scares them away with that fiery look in her eye
she’s packing her bags for places she’ll never go
she’s seeing faces that she’ll never know
tonight her perfume annoys the living room air
Mildred turns on some music and lets down her hair
she starts dancing with a man who isn’t even there
she starts screaming about her life and how it isn’t fair
tonight is the night she’ll end this torrid affair
with the handsome man who isn’t even there
she lights a candle disguised as desire
he steals the candle from her and sets her on fire
Mildred chases him around in circles and calls him a liar

and she calls out his name as the flames grow higher and higher

WHEN THE FRIENDLY DEVIL ASKS YOU TO DANCE

When the friendly Devil asks you to dance,
step back...don't grab His inviting hand;
He's very good at the art of deception:
His ways are very charming and tempting that only a perceptive person can tell,
and He's well-dressed and well-spoken and He comes in the shape of male or female,
to buy more souls for His vindication!

I see Satan in the face of different people,
kinder than anyone...conjuring up conflicts among the faithful;
even those who imitate the Divinity of Jesus will deceive a good soul
with their false kindness and outward holiness!
Many will betray Christ for an instant glance at all that is gold;
and they can be your most trustworthy friends!

When the friendly Devil asks you to dance,
turn away from His alluring smile and seek refuge in the open arms of Jesus!
This fallen angel has drawn a plan for each one joining His network of sinners:
to strip all of their faith, values and dignity,
forcing them to obey His laws of immorality!
Are you one of them following his indecent ways?

Fancy-free childhood, glorious youth and awaited Golden Years
will be pitifully wasted in the quest for that self-pride;
and all Satan has to do is offer you a free ride!
Fools, become as shrewd and intuitive as foxes,
to fend off all the attacks of the wicked ones;
and can you ,amid them, remain as silent and gentle as lambs?

When the friendly Devil asks you to dance,
challenge Him with your fists of resistance!
