That Still Small Voice

In still small voice you spoke to me
And whispered oh, so earnestly
“Be careful, child, this will not do
You wander far for pastures new…

Be careful, child, I know your heart
I know what lies in every part
Your longings only I can fill
And yet you go; I whisper still

Come back to me and be at peace
With me your every storm will cease
My child, you are my precious one
Why choose the night and not the SON!”

You spoke to me in a still small voice
But I still longed to make the choice
I wanted to feel wildly free
The one I hurt was only me

Yes, I got hurt when I denied
The truth you spoke, and so I cried
To keep me safe, you placed a hedge
You promised love in blood tinged pledge

The still small voice, I didn’t heed
My heart left bare to scar and bleed
And yet you whisper sweet to me
“I’m still here child, to set you free.

So long ago, I came to earth
You’ll soon be thinking of my birth
I left all heaven, just for you
I had to prove my love was true”

Your still small voice I can now hear
And though I’ve wandered, you are near
I hear you whisper to my heart
Lord, hold me close and never part

Eileen Manassian

Two key verses play a part in this prayer. One is a thought that I touched on in previous writes. God puts a hedge around those whom He loves to protect them...We sometimes choose to break down that hedge, and we suffer the consequences.

Psalms 13: 5 - 6
You have hedged me behind and before,
And laid Your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
It is high, I cannot attain it.

Another thought is about how God speaks to us. He speaks to us through nature, though other believers, through His word, and sometimes...its that small voice that whispers in our ear. That's how it was with the prophet Elijah. He was afraid and was in hiding. God had plans for him.

1 Kings 19:11-13New International Version (NIV)

11 The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.”

Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. 13 When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.

Then a voice said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

The King James Version mentions...a still small voice. Yes, He still speaks to us...but do we listen?

I Wish

I wish I were an angel
To flood your world with my light
To hold, comfort and cheer you
All through long lonely night

I wish I were a fairy
To flit about your dear heart
To give it tiny squeezes
When about to fall apart

I wish I were a goddess
Of beauty a paragon
So you would gaze and wonder
Thoughts of any other gone

I wish I were a muse
Living there inside your mind
To offer inspiration
When right words you need to find

I wish I were a princess
Blessed with luxury so fine
I’d make you live in splendor
If you promise to be mine

I wish I were a star
Sprinkling stardust down on you
Guiding each and every step
Make your dearest wish come true

I wish I were the moon
Working on your inner tides
Drawing you ever closer
Till in me your love abides

I wish I were the sun
Burning to the very core
Searing you with my passion
Rays touching what I adore

I wish I were a flower
To bloom nurtured by your care
Wrap you in my loving scent
Make life beautiful and fair

I wish I were the wind
Caressing you every way
Enfolding you in my arms
Seductress having my way

I wish I were the rain
That wets body through and through
That sprinkles love droplets soft
But then drums itself on you

I wish I were the sea
Foaming, churning ecstasy
To draw you into my depth
Riding waves, unleashed and free

But I am just a woman
I’m as simple as can be
But if you give me your love
All these wonders you will see

Eileen Manassian Ghali

Inspired in part by Shania Twain’s song: “Jealous” I love that woman…She is awesome. Wish I could see her in Vegas…She is there performing now…Such great songs….

Chemistry

We read each other so perfectly
two minds with a single thought,
when we combine, baby it's explosive
chemistry like ours cannot be taught.

The electricity gets me jumping
and attacks the heart's beat,
this experiment you concocted
has revived the frog's feet.

Like a volcanic lava lamp
an eruption of emotion flows,
the heat welds me to you
our bond that nobody knows.

We met inside this classroom
where my opposite attracted to yours,
like magnetized paperclips
we were linked right from our cores.

We're closer than Dr. Jekyll was
to his hidden self, Mr. Hyde,
but, I can take you by the hand
as we go along for the ride.

Sailing These Seas

Sailing these seas, right now the waves are rough.
The ship is hard to steer, and I fear we may sink.
My crew has hope, but they don’t see what I do.
The water’s looking troubled, just like the way I think.

Sailing these seas, the waves have settled down.
The ship is sailing smoothly, I believe we’ll be okay.
My worries are at the back of my head.
I’ll save them for another day.

Sailing these seas, I think we’ve struck something!
My crew is in a panic, and I was not prepared.
Captain, don’t you know you always have to be cautious?
Even the leader sometimes gets scared.

Arriving at the shore, the ship barely intact.
Most of my crew is gone, but a few knew how to live.
They saved me when I needed them.
I want to show thanks, but I have nothing left to give.

*side note*

To me, this poem sort of symbolizes depression, while indirectly talking about it.

The first verse pretty much says
"I am in a bad place, and I have supporting friends/family, but they don't see what I'm going through the way I do."

Second: "Things are getting better and I've decided to stop worrying about bad things happening and try to be happy."

Third: "Whenever I start thinking about good things and have hope, something bad always happens and I should've been prepared for it."

Fourth: "I made it through it, but lost a lot of the people supporting me because they couldn't handle me while I was down, and whatever I went through weakened me so it's hard to show gratitude to the people who stayed."

Love On Solid Ground

On egg shells she walks
Hoping one will not break
For the head games will start
She does not want to partake

He jumps to wrong conclusions
That are farthest from the truth
He always assumes the worst
She needs rational, not uncouth

She's fighting a losing battle
For he never sees her point
She can't head off the fight
Does he enjoy being out of joint

She wants to walk on solid ground
To no longer fear the cracks
She deserves to live happily
Not worrying about his attacks

Finding the courage to walk away
When the heart wants to remain
If only he could change his ways
Love her without causing any pain

She would more than gladly stay
Embrace living happily ever after
But as important as true love is
Equally vital is trust and laughter

I Love How You Love Me

I love how you love me
In all you do and say…
Your love language I read
The words in sweet array

I love how you see me
Beauty flows from your eyes
The light does anoint me
It declares I’m your prize

I love how you praise me
A goddess in your mind
You let me rule supreme
Your heart to me is signed

I love how you touch me
Your hands awaken dreams
Everything falls away
And heaven nearer seams

I love how you kiss me
Your lips, travelers fine
They leave no virgin site
Every visit a shrine

I love how you taste me
You relish the refined
I flavor my body
For you, nothing confined

I love how you feed me
Satiate me with treats
I never go hungry
You reward me with sweets

I love how you take me
How you tenderly please
You hold back your fire
Till I beg for release

I love how you want me
Like the desert craves rain
You wait for the deluge
As I course through each vein

I love and adore you
For your delightful ways
My sweet essence of life
Take me through all my days

THE SCENT OF WATER

We stand there mumbling side by side,
so many words that cannot rhyme
no pathway for love to reside,
transparent is the cloak of time.
His thoughts grow cold that interfere
with birdsongs through each frozen pause;
that words repeat but cannot hear
are signs why affection withdraws.

And as we trail of when and where,
the voice of fate calls from behind
misty like the scent of water;
our eyes now heavenly designed
to awaken hope beaming in gold
as cloudscape spills warm potpourri.
And just before he turns, behold!
He renews our vows of sanctity.

To Be Or Not To Be

To be or not to be?,
That is my question to you,
When the truth is told to me,
Then I shall decide what to do.

Are you not to be my dream come true?,
Are you to be my nightmare?,
Shall you leave me feeling blue?,
Or will you always be there?

Are you not to be my rose?,
Are you to be my thorn?,
Will you on bended knee propose?,
Or shall you leave me all forlorn?

Are you not to be my life?,
Are you to be my end?,
Me, I shall be your loving wife,
Will you be more than just a friend?

Are you not to be my heaven?,
Are you to be my hell?,
Always home by the hour of eleven,
Or shall I alone at midnight, dwell?

Are you not to be my light?,
Are you to be my dark?,
Shall I hide in the shadowed night?,
Or soar in day as a skylark?

Are you not to be my truth?,
Are you to be my lie?,
Will you stay after my youth?,
Or leave me to wonder why?

Are you not to be my love?,
Are you to be my hate?,
Were you sent from above?,
Or am I just tempting fate?

To be or not to be?,
A question I need an answer to,
When the truth is told to me,
Then I shall decide what to do.

Unintentional Heartbreaker

I will not dye my hair,
blonde like Marilyn Monroe,
or cover myself in makeup,
to go and put on a show.

I am not one of those girls,
who will purposely flirt,
winking at every man,
just to eventually cause hurt.

I know how it feels,
to have my heart broken,
he was selfish and cruel,
uncaring words were spoken.

I never wanted to hurt your feelings,
because we were not meant to be,
I feel so very flattered,
that you had a crush on me.

The right girl is out there,
she is waiting for you,
just like my guy is searching,
for a heart that beats true.

SALE CRAZY

On a sale, my Aunt Bel can’t be denied
Access to mark-downs with red, yellow tags
Off for the big loot, her shoulders take pride
In carrying four giant tote-bags.

To keep poised, she dons fancy sunglasses
Like those models who shop but then conceal,
A giddy look that excites the senses
Obsessed about offers… Aunt’s set to reel.

Hurrying to snatch branded teenage jeans
Which do not fit her extra large belly;
She collects a bimbo hat and face-creams
Upstairs, drained feet race… what a joyful spree.

While purchases are arranged , now she whines
The Mall’s closing with a long queue that’s packed
Our Bel groans,” Oh no, I might be confined,”
She gets ahead… feigning a heart attack!

Mystic Rose's Eccentricize My Eyes

* For my wacky aunt who combs
almost all sales in town.. it's her 'hobby' or habit?

The Dream Maker

Eyelids dance in a world obscured
Fabricating illusions we will seek
Like the melody of an unforgettable song
It's conception buried in the deep

Visions of his eyes
The tone of her skin
Is the one they see a dream
Or something clearly impinged

His laugh and the curve of his lips
Sun-touched highlights in her hair
Are they fabled reveries or
Unconscious aspects by which we compare

She longed for his tender ways
He wanted for her seducing dance
A distant memory that was never lived
A dream within a dream perchance

We're looking for things we've never known
In someone we've never met
For this we cry and bow our knees
A joining of halves that must connect

And if by some miracle of fate
These two dreamers paths do cross
By no visible nor unseen force
Could ever unjoint loves intercourse

The Dream Maker
In some majestic space resides
The famed and masterful slumber illuminator
Arranging the destiny of lives

For Rick, the love of my life!

But these are not my decisions to make.
God told me what He wants me to do;
He said, "Listen, Son, I have a plan for you."

For Your Eyes Only

They said we'd never make it
They said we would not last
And though we've had it rough, dear
For us, the dye's long been cast

They don't seem to understand it
They don't have a single clue
That though we have our problems
There is a magic glue

A glue so rare and precious
A glue so exquisitely fine
Forged out of our young love
Making you forever mine

We have a precious daughter
She is the forever bond
The union of our souls is she
Of whom you are so fond

Today as I watched you sleep
I longed to kiss you awake
With passion dipped words to say:
“Wake up, sweet love let’s make!”

And so I teased and I pleased you
Laid your head on my bare breast
I smiled at myself for I knew
That would bring on all the rest

I was not disappointed
You made me scream and sign
With techniques tried and true
You took me to the heavens high

And now you're getting older
You're climbing the ladder of time
Remember when you're old and grey
I'll still think you are sublime!

Eileen Manassian Ghali

A Little Background:

I wrote this some time ago for my husband, but I added to it to post it today. I met him when we were twelve, he asked me out at 14, I accepted him at 17 when I came back from the States, I married him at 26. We were neighbors, but our families were rivals of sorts. Regular Montegues and Capulets. His parents threatened to disown him if he married me. He was willing to go through the risk. This explains the beginning of the poem. It's been twenty years now. We are still together. The Title of the poem, a song by Sheena Easton, was "Our SONG."

To Love a Woman

You love the warrior woman
the one who's in control
you love the sweet seductress
who electrifies your soul

You love the teasing temptress
the woman who knows to please
you love the siren vixen
who makes you fall to your knees

You love the modern lady
who's full of class and finesse
who takes it all in her stride
knows how to dress and undress

You love the pretty woman
who graces you with a smile
the loving kind supporter
who makes it all seem worthwhile

Why can't you love the captive
who's imprisoned by your love?
The one who needs your kindness
to know what life is made of?

Why can't you love the weak one
who needs your strength to survive?
the one who clings to your heart,
for your soul keeps her alive?

Why can't you love the hurt one
who needs healing from your lips?
the "thirsty for love" woman,
who's only been granted sips?

Why can't you love her fully,
for all the good and the bad?
Love her in her sheer madness
Love her when her heart is glad

Be different from mortal men
Who desire what appeals
Be her hero of valor
who feels all that her heart feels

For I am myriad women
in the body of just one
Don't love just a part of me
or I'm sure your love to shun

Love my strong fighting spirit
Love my broken weakened mind
Love seductress and seduced
Love with madness that is blind

If you love in completeness
If you treasure all I am
You'll be my king and lover
I will make you feel all man!

Dont Make Her Ask

Don’t make her ask for a kiss
When she wants to drift to sleep
Don’t make her ask to be held
When her soul's about to weep
Hold her…

Don’t make her ask for kind words
To make her soft heart secure
Don’t make her reach out to you
When she needs strength to endure
Speak to her….

Don’t make her bedroom eyes beg
For tenderness of your touch
Don’t make her hands have to lead
To what she longs for so much
Caress her….

Don’t make her ask you for more
When she has need yet to feel
Don’t make her cry bitter tears
When she longs for what is real
Pleasure her…

A woman must be treated
Like a sweet and gentle thing
If you are hard and uncouth
You might break her angel wing

A woman must be nurtured
Like a lady let her be
If she feels in love secure
She'll act out your fantasy

She can be just what you want
Make your every wish come true
But take this advice from me
She must have respect from you.

Teddy Bear

Alone he sits in my room
    and waits for me patiently,
He was my comfort, my friend,
    he was my security.

Once I showered him with Love
he was always there for me.
I'd hold him and hug him tight
    in my arms eternally.

My teddy bear was my prince,
    defender against all fears
Great or small, and together
    we discovered new frontiers.

I felt he was a great knight
    against the thundering boom,
And storms ne'er scared me, but now
alone he sits in my room.

So I picked him up today.
I embraced him all night long,
And it made me feel so warm
to know his Love was still strong.

In Tenderness of Night- A Repost

In tenderness of night
Restore my faith in ME
Caress in gentle ways
That make my heartaches flee

In tenderness of night
Clothe my name in your need
Touch me in every place
That fantasy will feed

In tenderness of night
Mend all my broken dreams
With promise drenched kisses
That carry sunshine beams

In tenderness of night
Let traveling hands stake claim
Dancing minstrels of love
That banish all my shame

In tenderness of night
Breathe over me your love
As I lay helpless, bare
Passion’s eagle turned to dove

In tenderness of night
Love out of me despair
With words of noble knight
Confess my beauty fair

In tenderness of night
On body free your soul
Mating of mysteries
Fragmented lives made whole

In tenderness of night
Let time be ever still
Neath eyes of silver moon
Your essence in me fill

Naught else but you and I
In tenderness of night
Yet what transpires now
Brings forth dawn’s glorious light

Eileen Manassian

Due to some comments on my latest poem, I deleted it and reposted one of my older writes. I hope you enjoyed this piece.

Make Love to Me- Edited Version

Make love to me with your eyes
Let me see the fire there
Devour me in a look
Undress me till I am bare

Make love to me with your voice
Wrapped in desire… say my name
The need I hear in your tone
Will ignite me into flame

Make love to me with your words
Make them drip with passion sweet
Choose every one with care
Make impossible my retreat

Make love to me with your hands
Give them freedom to explore
Let them travel where they wish
For they make me beg for more

Make love to me with your lips
Let them pull and tug at mine
A slow and rhythmic dance
As on this, our love, we dine

Make love to me with your tongue
Let it glide, tease and savor
Taste to your heart’s content
Love’s latest sweet new flavor

Make love to me with your body
Entwine your strong one 'round mine
The poetry of our motion
Has a perfect rhythm and rhyme

Make love to me with your soul
Let our thoughts have intercourse
As each fantasy bursts to life
We climax at ecstasy’s source

Make love to me, my darling
Take from me this guarantee
What you do to me in love
My actions will far exceed.

Unbridled

silky smooth hair
covers my face
hands on your head
we pick up the pace

tongue rides the groove
that runs down the spine
you moan ever softly
I'm crossing the line

tugging your hair
I kiss the back of your neck
all defenses now gone
what did I expect?

now under the sheets
things start to unwind
as I stroke you so slowly
your hips start to grind

sweat pooled beside us
let's rest for a few
I'll stay here forever
just staring at you...

Love is Like an Antique

Some people like to throw away
Things others consider a treasure
They simply are so ignorant
Of how it’s worth to measure

They think that because it’s old
It is ugly and outdated
That’s often how people feel
About the ones that have mated

They always look for something new
Something that is stream lined and sleek
And so the old they set aside
With brashness at the new they peek

Myself, I’m an ardent lover
Of antiques in all their splendor
My father taught me their true worth
I care for them with hands tender

I do confess antiques take time
To restore to an earlier state
A lot of effort is needed
To make these precious antiques great

Relationships are much the same
The older are more tried and true
They just take more love and more care
To make them compete with the new

So dear, don’t you dare throw me out
In love’s massive garage sale
The new may be more enticing
But that buy’s surely bound to fail

You’ll soon tire of simple lines
And long for the fullness of me
So, stick to this old antique, boy
I’ll make you happy as can be!

So polish me here and over there
Bring out my original shine
Caress me here and over there
I’ll serve you and make your life fine.

Last Love

First loves are precious
The memories burn
The faces are there
Wherever you turn

The sweet memory
Of tasty first kiss
How moist the lips felt
How full of pure bliss

The mad beating heart
About to explode
Unable to cope…
With this overload

The look in the eyes
That can quickly melt
The caressing hand
Making passion felt

As sweet as all this
Can be to the soul
It is the last love
That can make one whole

The last love that speaks
Of tender regard
That will be there to aid
When the way gets hard

The last kiss of love
When life ebbs away
A promise to meet
On that blessed day

Last love is tender
It knows where it’s been
It has loved and loved
Through thick and through thin

Last love has reason
Not flighty but real
Based on decision
Not just what you feel

My first kiss burned you
My second was sweet
My last one, darling
Will be the best treat

First love is silver
The last one is gold
On tried and true love
My heart is now sold

Price I Have To Pay

I remember it like it was yesterday
When you found us together
I never thought that you would walk out
And that you would be gone forever

You had every right to be upset
And I know you will never forget
Never thought it would end this way
Guess this is the price I have to pay

Caught up in the moment, as we laid there
Under the pale moonlight
All I could think of was touching and kissing
And how it felt so right

I realize now that I made a mistake
All I need is you
So why would I settle for some cheap thrill
When only the best will do

Said you were leaving, I couldn't believe it,
I felt my stomach cringe;
I thought you would always be in my life,
If not as a lover, then as a friend.

This Love is Real

She desires to hold his hand She walks real close to him He notices her advancement And desires her whole limb He now takes hold of her arm She gives a smile of delight They walk quietly down the yard Holding each other in the night Their hearts are pounding with joy Surely anxious of what’s next Their kiss marks the beginning Of a relationship that’s complex They embrace with full lust Infatuation is enforced They love each other so much Wanting nature to run its course They find their way to her home Departing is sure sad to feel He must leave until the morrow She waves knowing this love is real

Love Awaits The Souls

All are we

One half of a soul

Traveling through this life

Once again to be whole

In the heartbeat of another

The rhythm to our rhyme

Long ago, a dance started

Shared again in this time

In their eyes found

Love's light returned

Reflection of the self

Many lessons have been learned

Touch do they deep

Core of all you are

Though separate may you be

No place that far

Feel them can you always

Never far behind

In every breath, every moment

Always on your mind

Find can we many

Ways to block our path

Defined by perceptions

Risk not ego's wrath

Short is our time

In this world spent

Return to your purpose

For which here, you were sent

Follow your passion

Once again, be free

Others opinions matter not

For, your truth cannot they see

Close your eyes, feel the rhythm

Continue does the dance

Love awaits the souls

Willing to take the chance

Misunderstood

The constant chatter from his nagging wife
Was driving him insane

She wouldn't let him have his space
To watch the football game

Marvelous around the house
She was so domesticated

But when Sunday rolled around
She left him feeling aggravated

This was a man with morals
He would never lift his hand

Sometimes he would raise his voice
Hoping she would understand

It was not deliberately
Her intentions were good

She was simply trying to show him love
In the best way she could

A woman misunderstood

COLLATIONS

Spent time enough upon this road
to know the things I think are gold
don't give a hoot bout wealth or fame
if you're famous and made a name

my own pursuits and my own leans
but these are those that let me see
what lies in you your own beauty

I understand what you've been through
though life's unique but similar too
you own your joy as I do mine
its ups and downs the unsublime

I've experienced life and all it's dirt
our ecstasies of all our hurt
foolish man said I crossed the line
I wasn't worth his thought or time

Forgive me now should I not see
all the meaning your life needs be
sometimes I'm bound in my own thought
to remember what life has taught

That I glory in what is you
individuality it's what we do
I've shed my tears and held your hand
same under stars the same earth stand

 Psalm 62
9 Surely the lowborn are but a breath,
the highborn are but a lie.
If weighed on a balance, they are nothing;
together they are only a breath.
10 Do not trust in extortion
or put vain hope in stolen goods;
though your riches increase,
do not set your heart on them.
11 One thing God has spoken,
two things I have heard:
“Power belongs to you, God,
12 and with you, Lord, is unfailing love”

Endless Days and Sleepless Nights

Denying existence in the ambience of reality bent
Lost in a limitless labyrinth of morality
A delinquent mind obsessed with mischievous intent
Underneath a blanket of emotional uncertainty

Laying together until the warmth of the sunlight
Illuminates the dark secrets of our faces
Reminiscing about long lost juvenile nights
With engraved memories of our fondest places

End of the Line

We thought we could make it together,
We thought it would work out just fine.
We thought that we could build a life together,
But baby, we just found the end of the line.

We built our home on love and affection,
The love we pledged until the end of time.
The baby was the living proof we needed,
But honey, we just found the end of the line.

And the end of the line is a thing
That we have to face up to.
I swear I just can't fake it anymore.
And loneliness is a way of life
And we'll live it--if we can,
I'll be the first by walking out the door.

Yeah, loneliness is a way of life
And we'll live it--if we can.
The Lord knows that we've lived it once before.

Sudbury Bars

Poem about Sudbury, Ontario, Canada

There are some behind bars
serving drinks for their time,
that there's more in this city
than the world we can chime.

They're the place you met Linda.
The place you played pool.
They're the waitress who served you
and the time you were cool.

All these bars are our memories.
A glance through a room.
A romance for starting
a Sudbury boom!

Folie a Deux

Mosaic beauty upon a canvased mind -
Abstracts' thought of two;
Spiritually carving an essence defined -
Sculpture's alluring view.

Model charisma, transcendent panoramics -
Chiseled utopia, kissed;
Shapes sexing and molding, sealing ceramics -
Tracing mystiques', blissed.

Embossed lines erect, curves aligning -
Signature beings, weld;
Engraving couplet, trademark entwining -
Crowning bijou, held.

Marbled terra cotta knows statues' Arcadia -
Concrete and clay conceive;
Porcelain angel now lives in Fantasia -
All set in stone make believe.

Beyond The Body

Bodies can be fragile, fickle things.
Fearful of what the future may bring.
A pretty face may be fine in bed
If behind the face, you know the head.

Jade

Jade flowed from sullen eyes
Disdain from fiery hair
A soliloquy of anguish
Captured by a snowy stare

I found rose petals on her lips
The remnants of a trusted man
Who had forsaken the pleasure
Of holding heaven’s only hand

I had dreamt of her touch
Kissing her angelic face
Whispering those words
Only eternity can embrace

I found her silent sorrow
Trapped behind shivering eyes
Offering her my shoulder
When she was ready to cry
