Invite of the evening crowd,
yearning for acclaim,
a common braggart read aloud,
to glean synthetic fame.
The fellow even took a bow
when some had stood and clapped
The rest of them were in the know;
so mostly they just napped.
Elsewhere in a lonely hut,
near death’s parting knell,
doors and windows firmly shut,
a poet bids farewell.
Painfully she starts to write,
and pens a lovely score,
her phantom fans in sheer delight,
arise in silent roar.
2nd Place, Put Your Best Rhyme Forward, Just That Archaic Poet
For almost two years we sailed
Over the Inspiration’s divine sea
Enjoying the sights of all beauties
That poetry offered to you and me
Now the time has though arrived
For me some peace just to seek
To relax, to ponder, to create
Till sturdy storm becomes weak
First, I would love so much to say
To all my real friends a huge “Thank you”
For honoring my poems with their comments
And adorning them with their view
Certainly all of you I will be missing,
Chiefly those with love in their heart
For they are honest and devoted,
Hard will be for me from them to part
Farewell to all of you Poetrysoupers
Regardless if you loved or hated me
For because of you I have written
Words that of some value might be.

PS: HAPPY EASTER TO ALL!
*If we wish, God our Lord, to spare our planet and us then
we have to give Him a hand!
I dearly miss my friends at The Glen
Where we spent eight very happy years
Never realized how happy they were
Each day was filled with good cheer
Friends galore, lots of things to do
It was our choice to join in or not
Help was there, if we ever needed it
The friendships were over the top
The choice to sell up and move away
Was certainly a difficult decision
Financially things got overwhelming
So the logical choice was written
Truly wish we could have stayed forever
But sadly it just wasn't in the cards
I'll always remember all the good times
Saying goodbye was oh so hard!

On the plight of this garden till when to grieve
Will this nest ever its glory retrieve
The companion birds are all flown away
O cyprus trees and roses! Permit me to leave
(Influenced by a Rubai of an eminent Urdu poet Josh Malihabadi)
Haunted by your memory,
You're in my thoughts and dreams,
They say you never forget your first,
There's truth to that it seems
Dada was everything to our youth
Our wide faculty was his help
Our recognition was his sooth
Nobody does it than his rep
Many youth he carried up there
Without seeking any penny
Many services he rendered
For free. All of which we did see
He was not a king or a prince
Perhaps he was just a God sent
To his community, king and prince...
He begot not but was begot
Mindful of his predicament
But dare not showed it on earth
Till that Friday night he drove out
Of town and took to a scar oath
The next hour we heard he had died
And left us belated letter
"Don't cry for me, for I had lied.
...I'll die now before later"
*cry for...: Mourn
Here’s to you my faithful friend
to dreams that never die
Rainbows after every storm
and clear blue sunny skies…
Hoist your sails into the wind
and sail to paradise
Explore the beauty of this world
and never compromise...
Guard your heart with all your might
but never cease to love
Give to those who ask of you
your gifts from up above…
Scheming together years ago, before the weekly executions,
dreaming of days we'd lift the fog of ignorance from the masses
and paradigms of stagnation shifted with cerebral solutions.
To no avail our heady course in theory only passes.
We knew the day, the hour, the minute how texts would be rewritten.
The generation of our spawn in classes they would read it.
History so enthralling, with learning would they be smitten.
Instead the propaganda beast so ravenous and we must feed it.
The old men while away their time with tales of a foiled coupe,
and students smile and avert their stare, it's better to be a number.
The One he loathes such minions who wish to think or do,
so all the day of arduous labor leads to fitful slumber.
Yes you and I, my loyal friend, matyrs in the making,
outwitting cowards that march us to the death of liberty.
But threats and greed lead to your word finally forsaken.
In brutal death at least my soul will wonder this world free.
I'm off to Vegas Baby
The city of light
In fact it's brighter
When you see it at night
Not much of a gambler
I do enjoy the sights
I don't throw away money
That isn't very bright
I'm in Vegas so you won't see as much of me
Over the next five days. Thanks for all your
visits and comments.
The time for departure has come,
Can you believe it?
It's off to Wales I go,
The country, not the fish!
It'll be 25 hours worth of flying
And layovers... (I too question my sanity)
But what fun it will be
To defy gravity so effortlessly!
I've never flown before
So wish me the best of luck
I hope my debit gets accepted
Because I'm bringing digits not bucks!
My uncle, aunt and cousin will greet me
When I get there,
As I take it all in, at long last breathing,
That European air!
You're probably thinking geez, another rhyme!
What is it with this guy?
But you see I just recently purchased my ticket
So... bye bye!
I've been saving my money
A couple years for this!
So it's off to Wales I go,
The country, not the fish!
NOTE: I'm very happy to say that this is not fictional on my part. I'm actually going to the UK in none other than 5 days!! I'm very excited and wanted to let everyone know that I'll be on this trip for a good three and a half weeks (so I will not have a lot of time to get on P-Soup... but rest assured I have not left the site!)
