STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN

Now my tendrilled soul,
Has found its pergola-- Christ--
To wind its way up....

Raindrops

Raindrops
are like my thoughts
falling down into my mind
sending goose bumps down
my spine

Their cool aftermath
cleanses me of my thoughts
of fear and uncertainty
about what tomorrows
pain may bring

They make me feel,
wet with creativity
drenched in my optimistic
illumination. glistening
raindrops, my thoughts
leave paths of pleasurable
distress, and hope of success
which road, less traveled
may be the best

Forget an umbrella
when these raindrops
arrive, I walk outside
arms open wide

Ready to Receive
whatever
the mind storm may bring
because raindrops are
as my thoughts, falling
down into my mind
sending shivers down
my spine

My brain, yearns
for the rain, to wash away
the pain, tomorrows worry
does bring
One special drop
could speed up life's clock
to the time
I can handle my own
and not dwell inside my controllers
home

For raindrops are,
like my thoughts
falling down into my mind
sending goose bumps
down my spine

Pledge of love and loyalty

This pledge that l,Ntando, make today serves
as my guideline that I shall follow
happily, ungrudgingly and tirelessly
for the sake of our love life.
Indeed l am well aware of the fact that
the beauty of this pledge does not only lie
in word alone but in action as well.

For that reason in every season
I shall show steadfast commitment
to the implementation of this pledge
with a great deal of astuteness.
I therefore commit myself to be your
devoted and delivering husband for
all the years l shall live with you
on this earth.

I shall treat you with the love and care
you deserve as my wife.
Indeed l shall treat you with
the distinction and dignity
that is befitting of the queen of my heart.
That body, that bone, that breath
shall be my mine to treasure,
for sure;
a dearness to promote and protect
for dear life…and love!
I shall stand by and with you in all the
situations of our life.
If the situation demands that we sail,
sail we shall together.
If the situation demands that we
climb,
climb we shall together.

I know very well what l am getting into:
I am getting into a marriage that is
overflowing with blessings.
This marriage- with our mutual
commitment-
will stand the test of time.
I know very well what I am getting into:
I am getting into a relationship that
brims over with a transforming power
of love.

This marriage-with our
mutual commitment –
will transform naivety into maturity
troubles into challenges
pretence into practice
pride into progress
bachelorship into companionship.
I pledge to be your steward and partner
for all times.

I shall value the consultations
and decisions that we make as
husband and wife.
As head of the family I shall do nothing

to derail our love train for anything else
least of all for personal and selfish reasons.
Now and forever

I am your lawful and loving husband…
This pledge that l, Nothando, make today serves
as my guideline that I shall follow
happily, ungrudgingly and tirelessly
for the sake of our love life.
Indeed I am well aware of the fact that
the beauty of this pledge does not only
lie in pronouncements but in practice
as well.

For this reason every season
I shall demonstrate untiring love
and loyalty to you;
a love and a loyalty that is a living
embodiment of our marriage vows.
I therefore commit myself to be your
honouring, supportive and loving wife
for all the years l shall live with you.
I shall treat you with the love and care
that you deserve as my husband.
Indeed I shall treat you with
the dignity and nobility that is befitting
of the king of my heart.
On my mind it is always fresh
that I am the flesh of your flesh.
Green or grown

I am the bone of your bone.
I know very well what I am getting into:
I am getting into a relationship that
elevates me into a kingdom of wifehood.
I shall endevour to put my family first
with all the rights, obligations
and privileges that come with wifehood.
I shall endevour to wipe off and ward off
loneliness and lostness from our relationship,
seeking nothing but your companionship;
banking on your stewardship,
sinking together any hardship.
Since you are mine
I shall not do anything else to undermine
our relationship for personal
or egotistical
reasons.
Now and forever
I am your lawful and loving wife…

Unanswered Poems

Don’t send me more
Of your tragic poems
My dear
Covered in blood
Of your monthly flood
Of tears

Don’t send me more
Of your angry poems
My dear
Carved with the knife
Of your molten spite
And fears

I’m just a peddler
With a cart
Bringing discount words
To hearts
Broken hearts across the land
Woman left without her man
Broken hearts throughout the world
Anguished boy and crying girl

Your poetry’s too heavy, dear
For me to read, for me to bear
Your poetry’s too heavy, dear
For me to get from here to there

Don’t send me more
Of your bitter poems
My sweet
Forged in the fire
Of your endless ire
And grief

Don’t send me more
Of your hopeless poems
My sweet
Ripped from the womb
Of the lonely room
You keep

I’m just a peddler
With a cart
Bringing discount words
To hearts
Broken hearts across the land
Woman left without her man
Broken hearts throughout the world
Anguished boy and crying girl

Your poetry’s too heavy, dear
For me to read, for me to bear
Your poetry’s too heavy, dear
For me to get from here to there

(You see that shadow on the road
Trudging ‘neath its heavy load
A heart weighed down by sands of time
And your poems only make him cry
And he won’t add them to the pile
So he can walk another mile)

(And he won’t add them
To the pile
So he can walk
Another mile)

Too heavy, dear
Too heavy, dear
For me to read
For me to bear

(They make him sad
Make him cry
Beat him down
Deep inside)

Too heavy, dear
Too heavy, dear
For me to read
For me to bear

They make me sad
Make me cry
Feel as though
I want to die

(And he won’t add them
To the pile
So he can walk
Another mile)

Too heavy, dear
Too heavy, dear
For me to read
For me to bear

(A heart weighed down
By sands of time
And your poems
Only make him cry)

Too heavy, dear
Too heavy, dear
For me to read
For me to bear

Blood upon Pages

As I place the pen
on paper
my soul beings
to bleed
upon the pages
my secret longings
hopes and dreams
of which I hope to be,
how I want to reflect me
transpire into the universe
within my poetic lyricism
the warm sweet smoke
of my vega blunt
swirls about me, flickers
in and out of motion
as the vanilla candle nearby
fights the shadows in my room
the cool summer breeze
from my window
carries dancing sinsemilla
fog around me, allowing
my mind
to adventure elsewhere
into the nights abyss
of minutes, turned to hours
I write
pages, of words
scribbling my life, struggles
and fears
Bob Marley and Lauryn Hills
“turn your lights down low”
beat inspirational peacefulness
on my eardrums
my small hands delicately pluck
my imaginary guitar strings
as I join her in a solo, Miss Hill's
magical voice cracks
with emotion, and my soul
tingles with excitement
For creativity flows
within my veins
I breath real music, such as
she, as soon as daylight opens
thine dark brown eyes to see
The poetic flowetry, carries me
and speaks to me
the notes capture my inner
disturbance and desires
until the soundtrack of my day
takes me into Summers night
thoughts of my dreams
of being a published poet
clearly float
into my sight
Then, I sit
as I place my pen
upon the paper
black and white turn to one
and my soul bleeds
onto pages
into an early sun

An Ordinary Man

I want to be inspired to write
    a song people really want to sing;
I want to be inspired to compose
    a requiem for the King;
But, I’m just an ordinary man
    doing the best I can
        at writing poems
            that have no homes.

I want to be inspired to find
    a cure for this cancer thing;
I want to be inspired to reach
    out for the golden ring;
But, I’m just an ordinary man
    doing the best I can
        at getting by
with the good old college try.

I want to be inspired to lead
    a revolutionary coup;
I want to be inspired to be
    the best at everything I do;
But, I’m just an ordinary man
    doing the best I can
        to make ends meet
and not live on the street.

I have the motivation;
I’ll put in the perspiration;
I can give it concentration;
But, I lack the inspiration;

Inspire me.
What will it take to inspire me?

I want to be inspired to write
    a song people really want to sing;
I want to be inspired to compose
    a requiem for the King;
But, I’m just an ordinary man
    doing the best I can
        at writing poems
            that have no homes.

A POET'S PRAYER

Bless me
with the fluency of fury
and the articulate voice of anger.
Spare me though,
of its affliction of aggression.

Let my pen paint
the reflection of my thoughts
like a mirror.
Thus my lines become
clones of my imaginations.

Let creativity be
the stubborn shadow
of my verses
and let not inspiration
fly out of my window.

Shall We Dance?

Every word I write
I listen to, I see.
For the familiar sound
Is what I call poetry.
It may sound crazy,
But the music I hear
Surrounds me in distinction
And quality,
While I'm envisioning
All sorts of things.
When I read a genuine poem,
I feel like I'm ready
To dance,
And I ask you to join me
When I read one
Aloud to you...

Shall we dance?

Generic Minds

generic minds listen to generic music
have generic thoughts that are unknowingly abusive
watch generic things talk about generic things
gee this generic *****is spreading like a disease
better get your flu shot
thats what they said to me
a suicidal vaccine
a subliminal killing spree
its contagious and the outrageous
thing about it is that the people are blind in an eye
that they didn't even know they had
it's sickening to watch these clueless civilians
inside the looking glass
with nightmares of being free
without a key to their mind
for it is trapped in the frequency
in the illusion of time
bathed in our universe
killing all that refuse to see
those that admit to hypocracy
or see the message in hip hop
how cant you see
the message in the lyrics that
bring adolescents to their knees
from bullet wounds conflicting their flesh
contradicting that they're the best
but the songs keep telling them that they dont need no rest
that they dont wanna go home
that they should ride alone
with the gat as their only companion
and so the only path they choose is the one that they're told
until they grow old and hope turns to a window pane
inside a window pane, until all they feel is pain
they realize that the music itself is ashamed
so whats to look up to
when you cant even speak when you cant even walk because you look so bleak
your eyes are sunken from the tv you're infested with the dee zees
now its too late to turn around and live for your conscious
so when youre screaming oh please
close your eyes and bring your mind to life
open your eyes for the first time
and never wonder why
since the answer this entire time
has been inside
and you better find it before you die
you dont want your soul to be in a pool with all the others
a buncha brothers missing their mothers
but only seeing strangers
only feeling the haters
wishing they would have used their minds when they had them
and now its too late,
now it's time for another new born fate to grab them

I know I can Be a Bad Man

Yeah I know I can be a bad man
But I just want people to understand
I do what I must, I do only what one can

I think about life, I think about my everyday strifes
I know I love you girl you the mama of my children
You already like my wife
I know I have cheated from time to time
but you the only one who I sleep with at the end of another long night

Yeah I know I can be a bad man
But I just want people to understand
I do what I must, I do only what one can

I know I like to drink yet it feels like I love that alcohol
This liqour and beer is my number one downfall
If it werent so then the crazy *****in my life now I would have never saw
I would have never ended up sitting in prison for breaking the law

Yeah I know I can be a bad man
But I just want people to understand
I do what I must, I do only what one can

It's alright now though because Im back in school
I know I struggle at times but Im reframing from being another lost fool
I know it bull-*****even though many youngsters think that *****is cool
But they don't know if they been where I been and still want to do what I do

A different time, a different place
A different life and different face

Different wants and different needs
Different values and different creeds

Different Pomp and Circumstance
Different songs and different dance

Different likes and different hate
Different foods on different plate

A different boat on a different sea
A different you and a different me

A Song Unsung

A song unsung is not a song Until the music plays. And the verse meant to come alive Is just a meaningless phrase. But there is no song without the words That give meaning to it all And to separate the two will bring Nothing you’ll recall But if the two are blended In a very special way Something magic happens That you don’t see every day. You’ll find rhythm in the music, And a rhyme for all the words And if you listen closely Angels can be heard. To put it all together May seem a mighty chore For what you’re really looking for No one’s heard before. The words may come from wisdom Or from deep within your heart And the chord that brings these words to life Requires a very special art Then, when you think it’s finished, And all the work is done Just give it one more edit And then enjoy the fun. Butterfly

I once was like a catipiller young, naive, and new
Always living from my heart not knowing what
else to do.Easy to take advantage of, that is
just the case, people would walk over me
like I was their dirty used up suitcase.
Now I feel a newness coming, like a light
shining from the sky, colors fill my world
and I know I am blooming into a butterfly.
Purple,Pink, Blue and Green I can feel them
flowing through. Colors of the rainbow raising
me into full bloom. Wise and strong I am becoming
My faith leads me where I need to go giving me
insight and wiseness for only me to know.
I have not done this on my own you see
I have been guided by God and Angels
on this Earth. Wise words the wisdom at
it's best comes from a wise lady who
seems to know me best. Lucky, I am
to have her in my life, she always shoots
it straight and tells me like it is, knowing
her words touch my heart and gives me tons of faith..
I feel like flying through the sky or climbing
a tree way up high. I feel like observing the
world just like a brand new butterfly so as I
Bloom I become Anew something unlike the past
Smart and wise beautiful on the inside and outside
a touch of color here a touch of color there
makes me glow and become a beautiful blooming butterfly...

My Wishes are Simple

My Wishes are Simple

My wishes are simple,
my desires few,

to gaze upon an ocean,
and marvel at a solitary drop of dew.

My wishes are simple,
my dreams not too grand,

to feel the waves teasing my tired feet,
with no footprints left in the cool, wet sand.

My wishes are simple,
my thoughts serenely gentle, calm,

my heart resting beneath a swaying palm,

healing my being, caressed by nature's soothing balm.

Lost In Thought

Now who would of thought the thoughts that would truly get the mind lost in fragile thought?
So much on our known life,
about unknown death when we laugh at others but at ourselves we really cry,
in our very own hidden truth lies,
amongst our own poeple who we defy,
until we fight,
for wrongs for personal rights,
**** the darkness is what make us appreciate the light,
I dont talk the talk nor do I walk the walk because I walk my talk while I swagger and swerve im my talks through these walks,
Life can get so messy with death that its time for those of us here to grab the broom so God can mop,
I live life to the fullest with what little I have because I dont have a lot,
I live life shitty sometimes like almost everyone else like it or not,
Im not special Im so unique Im individual with word talent I know I got,
I know what I dont have so its important more knowledge among me is sought,
I can be wrong half the time but can still make it 100% right I was self-taught among a young soul that seems to be bought,
I got a bad limp but dont get me wrong I can still gallup through darkness while I jog lost in the early morning fog waiting to be patiently found in the midnight lounge where I trot,
Truly lost so easily in profound hard thoughts litterally running from the cops waiting to duck and dodge from open gunshots,
Bodies and shells drop where caskets are made among a dying crop,
I can still make a splatter where there was just but a tiny dot,
I used to have merely nothing now atleast I can truly say I have a safe spot,
I was found looking for truth in lies lost in thought....

I Can't Say It Without You

I was your never ending composer
We spent many a nights, and many an hour together
But now you’re lost inside
And I can’t find my way, again.

( chorus )
Cause I can’t say it without you
It hurts to be without the feeling
Never knowing when it will return
But I know that you would stay with me
If you came back, again some day
But till then I’ll wait till you appear.

I really miss the way you make me feel
People said we were meant to be together
Why’d you leave me so unexpectedly
I hope you come back soon.

( Chorus )

It’s been two months since I’ve written you
All I’ve got to show is crumpled bits of paper
The passion and creativity is now gone
So come back home so I can work it out.

The Poetic Blues

I think I self-sabotage unknowingly
because of fear
So my message goes unheard because I’m afraid to let the people hear
And end up drowning in the poetic blues
doubting my ability to write about the truth;

I dug deeper and deeper into myself trying to write a poem good enough to be free of judgment
Then I stepped out on faith and suddenly I was triumphant
and my writing grew
and I was loving it
I had finally passed the fear of speaking and caring about who the fu*c! was judging it

As I wait to be inspired for the next poem,
I sit and think alone and drown in my sorrows
Listening to jazz, blues and a.m. radio
trying to find an excuse not to perform at the SLAM
because again I can’t think of a damn thing to write…..
Drowning in poetic blues
Will this be the one that will be thrown away and never be used

Or will this be the one that transcends the others
and finally prove that poetry is blues and blues is poetry and hip hop and jazz and r&b,
Poetry is music and the words dance around in my soul
and I am free once they become spoken
In the meantime the paper is where the words will rest
until the silence is broken

Drowning in the sea of proper delivery
My voice, my stance, my intensity
How will others interpret the words that I’ve chosen so diligently?
I wrap my soul around the possibility that none of the words I choose –
will keep me from becoming deluged and trapped by the poetic blues

Somehow my heart refuses to accept that I don’t deserve to have my words heard
and it takes over this whole process
No more time for shrinking and feeling less
I was born to make my words manifest light
I am a gorgeous medium to the truth yeah that's right
I was sent here to give you a piece of good news
Remember that God is with you when you get
The poetic blues

Realm of Reality

Introduction: Life is a mystery with many ups and downs throughout the journey. The
journey filled with thoughts of tranquility and turmoil. But the perfect sensation is the
time when you get to feel closer to your Almighty, the one who understands you the best,
your closest friend, your hope and light, your solution to every problem, The mystery you
came to life to solve and to believe in.
Even in the happiest and the saddest moments, He is always there when you need Him.

Right now I am, thinking what to write
Holding my pen, it’s almost midnight,
I’m truly out of words, to express my whole life,
It’s so absurd, cut all pain through a knife
And I wish I could feel, Your presence in my soul
I know that You know, what I am going through
And I’m not sure I believe, unless I really feel
But I know when You’re not there, so I pray to feel You near

Now I can see, what this life is about
Now I do know, I’m too lost without,
Diamond in the rough, that’s what I was
But now I’m reborn by the shower of Your bliss
I’d die to satisfy, I’d do everything I can,
No matter how tough, after all I’m a man
I won’t fall apart, You’re always in my heart
I’d swim oceans and more, only to be Your friend

This undying grace of Your creation,
Time and space, more than perfection
You’ve opened my eyes and showed me the truth
You’ve blessed peace to my soul; I know what’s my role
I see two key coins, one black and one white
And all I have to join, the one with your light
Life is as it is, we make it our own
Hard or easy, full or alone

Everything grows, as they all involve
With the rose you put down, to show us what’s love
I wake up early, to see Your beauty,
Throughout the morning sun, I feel complete and done,
I drive all the way and see my problems solved,
By Your love from above, I stand still so firm
Everything I do, everywhere I go,
Every moment I breathe, I remind myself of You…my Almighty.

Reflections: Intellectualism

To Dine, To Die;
Conversations spiral
While thunderous eyes
Grasp concepts to recycle.

Constant debt crisis
A political paradox
Grating social devices
Over the sorting of socks.

Pseudo-analysis
An endless groan
Argumental paralysis
The debate grants no throne.

Existentialism
Over a roast
Potatoes won't listen
To who talks the most.

"That point is so interesting"
The floor is open for chat
"What is real?" not a thing
"Meow" adds the cat.

Poetry: For The Words, Are All Around Me

The secret syllables
and words
surround me
in a morning fog
I absorb them through
the places I wonder
ideas I ponder
they flow into my blood
veins
as they spill from my rose
lips
like shameless water
they sweep into me
like the wind behind my bare knees
they whisper into my ears
within the summers breeze
they creep u on me
like a bottle feeling
emerged from being
cloaked deep within
the search for a pen
and paper, feverishly
begins
into the depths of my soul
the intensity
is hard to control
like a wave, the words
tumble over me
overwhelmingly
grainy sands distort
my messages vision
as I struggle to write
how I remembered the piece
would begin
it feels like a rush
of electric
creativity
lightning bolts of
wisdom
jolt through my body
shooting from me
stories of grief, and struggles
things I share to help
others
not to repeat
of loss and love
like a bottled sermon
thrown from above
the words hit me

Phantom

i don't wanna sit here
in the garden, without you
i don't want to be here
falling apart, waiting for you
cause i'm sick and tired
of existing here, without you dear
hanging onto nothing, hoping for something

we're not adam and eve
oh why can't you see
how much i need you
so hard to believe
yet cannot conceive
how much i love you
i won't say sorry
doesn't mean a damn thing
cause you don't love me
we can never be

i'm not gonna stand here
all evening, without a clue
i'm not gonna be here
sweetheart, bleeding just for you
cause i'm sick and tired
of burning here, without you dear
hanging onto nothing, hoping for something

we're not adam and eve
oh why can't you see
how much i need you
so hard to believe
yet cannot conceive
how much i love you
i won't say sorry
doesn't mean a damn thing
cause you don't love me
we can never be

you're not adam,
more like the snake
you're the phantom,
that haunts me
you can't be adam
more like the snake
you're the phantom,
ripping my heart away

we're not adam and eve
oh why can't you see
how much i need you
so hard to believe
yet cannot conceive
how much i love you
i won't say sorry
doesn't mean a damn thing
cause you don't love me
we can never be

Roses & Thorns

im all alone and thats the way it should be
because no one was good enough to try and tame me
so sit back and relax and enjoy the fall
the truth really hurts you never loved me at all

you say you love me
but i saw past your lies
and let me tell you somethin' baby
i'm not fallin' for you this time

roses around my hand
and thorns around my feet
who would have known
you were wrapped around me

but you tore me to shreds
and i thank God for that
because if you never hurt me
i wouldnt ever get you back

so here i go without you
somewhere you can never reach me
and you can rest assure
im not takin' you with me

to this happi place
that makes me numb
where revenge will get you
its so good to be home

because the roses left me bleedin'
maybe that was a sign
that you would turn on me
and walk straight out of my life

you say you love me
but i saw past your lies
and let me tell you somethin' baby
i'm not fallin' for you this time

there's no ring around my finger
and thats ok
because im unobtainable
and thats the way it should be

IN MY NIGHTS

Some things are there that wakes me as I sleep,
They are the dreams of mine aroused in my nights.

The day today and those were passed yesterday were timeless,
But clusters of their memories fill my mind in my nights.

Now the voice of revelation sounds in the thoughts,
That surprised me giving an intangible world in my nights.

And a day when I sights my heart-crush,
A feeling of loneliness appears very inane in my nights.

Next day thought which make me humane clicked to me,
When I thought I am not considerate in my nights

Sinful Saint

Yeah I walk around life waitng for death/
I live in constant despair looking to be blessed/
Lies over truth around here always seem to infect/
The more sin I get in life the more saintly I seems less/
Im trapped in same dark place ;looking for a lighter quest
I try and live a life full of goodness still trapped in badness I am yet to confess/
I try and hold onto what seems like something but theres nothing really but family left/
I know I am not he best, nor am I like the rest/
I know I can master checkers but still downed in chess/.
I got to clean up my act because my life is a mess/

I patiently sit back while I ponder life for death and I wait/
I might as well look for something simple because I never find nothing great/
I struggle to stay under love and over my own hate/
I try and be real with others when to my own self I stay fake/
I feel life obstacles jolt my ambition like a chain that never breaks/
I want less more in life yet as a daily sinner I continue to both physically and mentally take/
I try and change my dark ways but still struggle at the fact that it might be too late/
I usaully catch myself complaining when infact I should be thankful for whats on my plate/
I usually hang onto the past and get scared of the future when I should worry about today/
I going to be that better man for my child because that sinner no longer in my heart I aint/
Sometimes in life we all struggle until we strive, but until then Im trapped between a young lost SINFUL SAINT........

The Way That I Flow

Inanimate emotion, of insufficient funds,
A stanza full of metaphors, and metaphorical puns
Living life holding a pen, an eraser is the only one to forgive,
A combination of lyrical rhymes, but where does it end?

Or does it end? Maybe the end is where it begins,
a vicious cycle, it's uncontrollable, like death dephying winds,
Where death and lying wins, and life on this planet doesn't exist,
So our imaginations are forced to pretend, that the elements around us are our friends

But I see things differently, I'm just a pathetic,
Prophetic kid, living in a notebook, trying to comprehend,
How to stay poetic, but it isn't what it seems
It's strange how closely my nightmares relate to my dreams

I've never done anything right, my whole life I've been living wrong,
Writing has always been my solution, it's a never ending hall
I'm externally torn, internally my soul has been reborn
My waredrobe is new, I got rid of the clothes that I wore

I'm untouchable, I'm nothing though, and I'll tell my story through
The Way That I Flow

Keep Me Awake At Night

i never thought i would say
these words are so true
but the fact still remains
i'm so in love with you

i keep thinking about
when my world is nothing
you take away the grey
with all the things you say
and baby my heart will stay the same
i promise, ohh yeah
you keep me awake at night

so as long as it keeps pounding
your words will keep on reminding
me of your love, while they keep on lying
and i know no matter what they say
i'll be yours forever and ever
as long as you want me too

i never thought i would say
these words are so true
but the fact still remains
im so in love with you

i keep thinking about
when my world is nothing
you take away the grey
with all the things you say
and baby my heart will stay the same
i promise, ohh yeah
you keep me awake at night

boys and girls sometimes
say things that are so fake
but baby when you speak
your words i'll never throw away

so let's kiss
just one last time
before you leave
i want your lips on mine
and i'll always remember
ohhh, hell yeah
you keep me awake at night

i never thought i would say
these words are so true
but the fact still remains
im so in love with you

i keep thinking about
when my world is nothing
you take away the grey
with all the things you say
and baby my heart will stay the same
i promise, ohh hell yeah
you keep me awake at night

Better Than Grace

how can we pretend that everything is okay
when the world is soon to turn to grey
I've took this life and its treasures in vane
when you'd easily trade with me any day

you're amazing better than grace
so amazing just can't turn the page
amazing can't find the strength
to gaze at your face and not look away
look what we've done, coming undone
slowly fading away, so amazing
better than grace

you say they gave you less than six months
never thought it could hurt this much
I'd give anything just to save you
oh what can i do, just say because

you're amazing better than grace
so amazing just can't turn the page
amazing can't find the strength
to gaze at your face and not look away
look what we've done, coming undone
slowly fading away, so amazing
better than grace

with every breath we take, just another test today
don't walk away before it's too late
we should all be ashamed of ourselves because

he's amazing better than grace
so amazing just can't turn the page
amazing can't find the strength
to gaze at your face and not look away
look what we've done, coming undone
slowly fading away, so amazing
better than grace

Only Words

To be played with finger picking in the key of G.

I know you can be so confused
With all the riddles I speak to you.
All my words you did adore.
Could it be you don't care for them anymore.
I'm not responsible for what you think you heard,
After all you know they're only words.

Let's go back to where your mind used to lie.
I'll take the wheel, you won't back seat drive.
Sometimes I think you forget what I'm here for.
Sometimes I think you don't care anymore.
This isn't just another line, tell me what's going on
I'll hear you call this time.

Only words
As they ring across your fragile ears
Only words
I only speak I cannot hear
And somehow I find something new to say to you
Only words
None of them are here to stay.
They're only words and
Maybe I'm better off that way.

I know that we can be so confused,
With all the memories we love to use.
And all the things we still adore.
I guess that's what we're both here for.
And if there's just one thing we both have learned,
It's that you can't just throw away all that you've earned
And all the things we've said before
Maybe won't be only words anymore.

rhyme cause i want to
all about the thought
develop my delivery
summarize a plot
story telling chivalry
too many double shots
its my medium believe me
when i say id never stop
disguised in scenery
inspiration off top
i absorb to administer
interpretations caught
one with the universe
you'll be feeling what I got
i am art fall apart
freestyling as i rot
cracking open my melon
art like smellin crotch
mics will need killin
till im a petrified rock
fresher under pressure
mcs get coal in socks
not everybody gifted
knottin heads like dreadlocks
even ancients rip
trippin so rhythm was brought
self sustaining compain
brings cash like a crop
rhyming any language
so every word pops
im outa this atmosphere
yo, beam me up scott
writing how im feeling
albums to be dropped
blessings from lessons
living life has taught
shakepseare aint shit

everymother ****er raps
only one can be top
illest styles originally
the rest can eat a cock
innovate or mortality
every choice has a cost
poetry of the street
feed off the broth
mutli flavored labor
faulty haters wanna jock
jealous is another word
for liking how you talk
bring love to the crowd
followers will flock
you are what you eat
hope my words hit the spot

IN MY NIGHTS

Some things are there that wakes me as I sleep,
They are the dreams of mine aroused in my nights.

The day today and those were passed yesterday were timeless,
But clusters of their memories fill my mind in my nights.

Now the voice of revelation sounds in the thoughts,
That surprised me giving an intangible world in my nights.

And a day when I sights my heart-crush,
A feeling of loneliness appears very inane in my nights.

Next day thought which make me humane clicked to me,
When I thought I am not considerate in my nights

track 18

thanks for the tea, heres something about me
nothing beats poetry, sitting underneath a tree
thankin' my family for a strong identity
people watching cause its free, beauty in the scene
has me staring with a cheese, a smile at what i see
possibly a dream, caught up mentally
imagining a few things, with this human being
who has the sweetest energy, soulfood like collard greens
all fools falling means I'm really dumber than I seem
being intelligent isn't just from memory
its handling impermanence light and sensibly
and lady I'm feeling your sultry melodies
we'd be crowded if its three, sit and be my company
must be a chemistry major cause the reactions meant to be
the love we can achieve, is safe from any thieves
hold em from my queen, hearts tucked into my sleeve

Slide

I let my voice resonate
"Aaaaaaaahhhhh!!!"
Music....soothing
so softly
feathers caressing me
like notes on a keyboard
I soar high
"Aaaaaaaaaahhhhh!!!!"
strumming me
sweetly I glide
from side to side
as my ears move my feet
"Pa da pa pa paaa!!!"
delicate words
needed to be heard
"Hmmmmmm....."

Thoughts of A Song Writer

From my thoughts on the paper in which it lies,
My everlasting passion is inked as it dries.
The way I feel inside, you might want to spy,
But if you pry, how will my lyrics surprise?
A song for thought will only leave a thought.
May sound difficult, but that’s just how I talk.
I was lost, but I found me.
Dreaming and believing that writing was my key.
The way it flows and the way that it goes pumps me to speak
the very thoughts that many minds chose to keep.
Many rocks I’ve kicked and many decisions I’ve made.
Any wrongs I take the blame.
Tic-tac-toe is only a game.
I plagiarize your eyes with the notes that I’ve taken,
A high note here and a low note there-
You’d swear I’m in your head when my song hits your ear.
Pain recognizes pain
And I’ve have my share of bandages.
My vibes from life heals the permanent damages.
Thoughts of a Songwriter,
Reaches farther beyond the beat,
Over the lyrics on the sheet,
Not only is it about the speech,
But more of what the message seeks.
True enough a theme is touched and a heart is rushed.
With the mind-throbbing picture disappearing
Through the ink of my pen and revealed through your lens,
You can’t hear me, but do you feel me?
I cherish my talent and where it could possibly sweep me.
My doubts and my worries are beneath me.
I love for brighter days and pray for more things to pave.
Call my life my number because its infinite.
Thoughts of a Songwriter,
My mentality drips it.

Jill Scott

"Love rain down on me..."
she bellows sweetly
I drink her soul through
the sounds
Letting me into her universe
dripping with love, food, imagery
a beautiful symphony of words
"Slowly, surely, I walked away from..."
the thought of turning my cd off
Jazz seeping through my pores
melting me like chocolate in hand
'I understand what you sayin' girl!!!'
Moving feet with every beat
"Love rain down on me..."

Author's Note: Some of the words in this piece are from actual songs. Jill Scott
has been a tremendous influence in my poetry. Her music and words are
constant companions. Much respect to her.

the sign painter's song

for Woody Guthrie - born:1912-07-14

brushing up on strokin' guitar strings
twangin' words 'bout work and the land
lyrically political of dust 'n' things
not feared to sing 'n' take a stand

so long, it's been good to know yuh
so long, it's been good to know yuh
so long, it's been good to know yuh
an' he was a driftin' along

totin' six-string Fascist killin' machine
travelin' to the west coast shores of sand
singin' loud across fields gold 'n' green
as families struggle to feed mouth from hand

singin'
so long, it's been good to know yuh
so long, it's been good to know yuh
so long, it's been good to know yuh
Woody sings us America's song

wheat fields waving at ribboned highways
all the way across this beloved homeland
Woody sang songs of promises made sideways
to up 'n' blow away by uncaring command

so long, it's been good to know yuh
so long, been good to know yuh
so long, it's been good to know yuh
been so good to know yuh, so long

you've been around for all of our lives
we know your songs and are ardent your fans
with Arlo and others your legacy survives
to carry on singin' your musical stand

Woody weaves a hobo's lullaby so grand
singin'
so long, it's been good to know yuh
glory bound, been good to know yuh
so long, it's been good to know yuh
man it's been good to know yuh so long

GIVE ME

I want to make sure I’m not falling on my face...
And I`m willing to go the distance
And I want to bring back good memories...
I want to make sure
You`re safe and you`re in a safe place

But GIVE ME some space
Sometimes, I wake up...feeling so distressed
But GIVE ME your sweet grace
And we'll beat the race...and this pain we share will not be addressed

I don't want to be unsure - am I the one losing the race?
And I'm chilling in this heavenly place
And I need to trade you my apologies…
I don’t want to waste your time
You’re absolutely safe…as long as you keep pace

Scary Feeling

I feel like sl-lit,
i wanna flip.
Let my words rip,
come take a sip.

My phone keeps on ringing,
its chesney hawkins singing.
I get this scary feeling,
she's gönnä nail me for stealing.

I look at the sealing,
wish i knew what was the meaning.
I must start to pray,
every single day.

I'm smoking myself to death,
i need to take a deep breath.
Please don't make me fall,
i don't wanna end it all.

but realized we aint gots no money to our surprise

i look in my back pocket and a 20 appear
we was like holy crap then we walk up to the cashear
she was like "how can i help you? you want that here or to go ? "
umm i dont know but i like a number 6 plain with cheese
but her not sure what do you want kelssey?

i want a classic combo. a sweet tea to drink.
thats what id order im pretty sure or i think.

but if you do its ok. cuz we get free refill.

they called our order and we grab our meal
right when we seat down i cause a big deal
i looked at my food and guess what i see
they put lettuce ketchup and mayonnaise and the receipt says plain with cheese

the food was free and i got back my 20

we got out there real fast and started a good day.
but we were still hungry and what did we do?
well we thought a shopping cart would fit through the drive through.

a bad idea? i dont know. but me and west thats how we roll.
so we climb in and away we go we went so fast no a time was spent
i was like " i hope we dont hit a car i hope we dont cause a dent"

so we told em to give us order number two and dont for get order number three
right when we grabbed our food we jumped out of the cart and then we flea

so our trip to mickey d's was quite amazing at the least...
as we eat our burgers and join in a great feast.

take time like hitting a tennis ball with a racket
my road to stardom, see it just started
am focused minded like searching for a nugget

i wanna strive and get it,that's what i'm in for

Heartless Fire

In my fervent heart,
You knew I treasured you
But you didn’t return those tender feelings
Just see the fumes arise from the consuming fire
Because my wicked desires wasted away into embers
I love you…I love you…These feelings are ever so new!
I LOVE YOU…I love you…These feelings are always true!
You knew I honestly adored you…oh yeah; I always did from the start
But you don’t consider those mild feelings—you wrecked those bits by bits
Ah! Now I’m crammed into the ascending fire, splintering me with the strokes of death
Because of my virtuous desires, I’m wasting away into the pit of corruption
I thought you were encompassed with my passionate kisses
But you wanted to chase after your callous blisses, now I’m faced with crises
I detest the thought of adoring you…but I have to admit—I love you!
I love you…I love you with all of my heart! Do you love me too?
I know the desires that I have constructed for you never occurred in your heart
I know in the bottom of my heart that you were only enticed by your sick pleasures
You’re dumping me into the raging fire and you’re a sneaky little liar
Because I ain’t lying like you do deceitfully to me—I’m in love and I can’t draw back my desire
You brought magnificence in my eyes, comforting angel
But I’m subsiding into the cavernous fire
Because I surrender to my legit desire
How could I free from the embrace that yanks on to me?
You brighten up my dreams and set me free from reality’s calamity
I love you…I love you…These feeling relieve me from the blue!
I LOVE YOU…I love you…I adore your every existence—do you get the clue?
You knew I kept this feeling inside for so long
Nevertheless, I feel that I belong
In your heart…In His heart…
In my heart…we’ll never depart!
You are my true endeavor
And I wanna win your heart forever!
You’ll always be loved because you’re above beautiful
But, you don’t believe this love will survive in this stranded palace
But I’ll attempt to win you with all of my might and I’ll defeat the malice
Our boundless love is like two fireflies floating in the midnight sky
But you disturbed our greetings and you didn’t even accept the feelings I felt for you
Why did you blow away our interweaved feelings of passion
And blew them away into the heartless fire?
My precious love, why did you diminish my eternal desire?
You knew I worshiped you
In my sensitive heart

THINE TRUE SELF

THE BEAUTY YOU SEE IN MY EYES IS,
SADNESS FROM ALL THE PAIN I'VE SUFFERED IN MY LIFE.
MY RAGE IS MY SCARS, FROM ALL THE DAMAGED HEART ACHES,
I'VE EVER FELT.
WHILE YOU SEE ME SMILING OR LAUGHING ON THE OUTSIDE,
MY TEARS ARE CRYING OUT SILENTLY.
ALL ALONE, AND UNLOVED,
AND BARON OF A FAMILY;
AN ORPHANED AND ABANDONED AS A CHILD,
NOW A GROWN WOMEN.
I TRIED TO TURN MY BACK ON MYSELF AS WELL,
ONLY TO BE BROUGHT DOWN TO MY KNEES SCREAMING,
WITH ALL MY OVERWHELMING EMOTIONS RUNNING WILDLY,
INSIDE OF ME.
WISHING OTHERS WOULD UNDERSTAND HOW GRATEFUL THEY
SHOULD BE TO HAVE FAMILIES THAT REALLY LOVE AND CARE FOR THEM;
INSTEAD OF COMPLAINING AND GROANING.
THINKING TO MYSELF,
IF ONLY MY FAMILY SHOWED ME THAT
THEY LOVED ME THAT AS MUCH AS
I LOVE THEM.
INSTEAD REALITY SETS IN AND REMINDS ME ON
HOW CRUEL THIS WORLD HAS BEEN TO ME.
I FINALLY DECIDED TO START ANEW,
AND THIS NEW BEGINNING HAD ITS UPS AND DOWNS;
AND LIFE LESSONS THAT NEEDED TO BE LEARNED.
ACKNOWLEDGE AND APPLIED.
LEAVING ME WITH THE DREAM AND HOPE,
THAT ONE DAY SOON I WOULD FIND MY KINDRED SPIRIT,
OR HE WOULD FIND ME TO LOVE ME IN THE LOVING WAY,
THAT WE BOTH NEED AND DESERVE.

felt in this world

Felt as if I were a stranger amongst family.
A mere shadow puppet on the wall.
The whispers that enraged me deeply.
From all the distasteful, shameful,
ungrateful words that had been spoken.
Utter silence drifting away,
the darkness starts to reign.
Sincerity's all so superficial beauty shines brightly,
blinding us from the true light burning within.
Rebelliously our selfish motives,
and lustful attitudes,
ruthlessly are felt thru out the land.
Emotionless thoughts,a lack of wisdom,
Aimlessly wandering about,
consuming everything in it's path.
Leaving "heart aches" as distraactions,
felt dining the war within the chains of bondage.
Keeping us slaves of death.
Our "seeds of faith" never failing,
surrendering to our human nature.
Repenting with our bankrupted souls.
His grace,given with forgiveness
and love.

light through your darkness

I step into the darkness of the forbidden
And I found you, crying all alone.
I know, what you are going through
Just don’t let the darkness bring you down

Just follow, follow me out of the darkness
I know, this is killing you so much.
I know, why you are suffering
So follow, follow me and my footsteps.

I been here, I know what you are going through
And I know, know one's life is ever easy.
Just trust me, I am not like the others.
I will try my best to bring you to the light.

Just follow me and my footsteps.
Take my hand, lets escape from the forbidden.
Lets breakaway, from this dreadfull place of the dark.

I know, why you are suffering.
Your pain and heartbreaks, place you in this darkness.
And I know the only answer,
For you to breakaway once and for all

Take my hand, and follow me out of the darkness
Only then all your dreams will show.
Take my hand and only then all your dreams will show!

I’ll be, your light of guidance
I’ll be, the only one who can see right through your heart
I am the only one who knows where to start
Because I was here once before...

Say It Again

i was waiting for the sun to rise
for someone to love on this dreadful night
and i truly thought no one would come by
until you walked right into my life

say it again
just one more time
those three little words
that make my life

you are my everything
without you i am nothing
but you must have saw something
cause you whispered three words loving

say it again
just one more time
those three little words
that make my life

you make my day
and thats no lie
just say it again
one more time

when the rain pours down
i fall to the ground
in shock cause i have found
the sweetest person around

so please just
say it again
just one more time
those three little words
that will make my life

you make my day
and thats no lie
just say it again
one more time

I love You

say it again
just one more time
those three little words
that make my life

you make my day
and thats no lie
just say it again
one more time

just please
for me
if not for yourself
say it again

say it again
say it again

Alanis morisette

I know you got my letter
from years ago
the one about all my problems
and the crush i had on you
about my dresser and my mispelled name
and what slide meant to me and why

I should be accountable
but im not sure what im supposed to do
ive heard you
and understand your sick of your voice and why
ive even tried joining your fan club
but i think that fell through

I told u about my friend sherri shepherd and her family
and how they blindly ylead eachother
but im not allowed to be her friend

Im not sure what id do if i was in your shoes
recieving a letter from a child fan
telling a stranger their suicidal tendencies
and molestations and abuse at home
and their witchcraft circle and strange experiences that involved
making love to a famous artist before their career had changed

Alanis
its like unexplainable to me
what you are
a reminder of a mother figure i never knew
a saving grace when the angels seemed soo far away
and i understand all of ur lyrics from im not ur mother
i diont carry you in my womb for nine months
to not the doctor
and now i wonder if im like an adopted 27 year old
life lesson
object to crave
side project
toy
you never wanted but got handed
and passed with flying colors

even though a few of your lyrics are two edged swords
im not sure what i wrote and sent off to you
but by the time you read it and wrote that song a lot had changed

i spoke of love like yours
and the help i needed and how i was fascinated with you
things i needed help with no one else could
i dont remember what i wrote
i think i wrote marilyn manson one too

Thank you
we bruised eachother
and i know you did a lot more for me
an object to crave?
its there u know...and it might not be me
but if u want one and u cant find one
i can help u look, or show u places to start

life is strange
i cant fathom the loops we sent eachother through
and who knows what anymore
but thank you soo much

Illusive Muse

 Illusive muse
Where did you go
How long must I linger this time
Cruel sweet Mother of Songs
The wide eyed child poet waits
somewhere in a closet
behind the skeletons
behind the guilt
where confidence was spiders silk
and glistened with geometric truth
The muses danced around me
holding candles
they were dressed in primary colors
 they moved the pen
again and again and opened doors of ink
One by one they moved on
each waving goodbye as she danced away
Now I grasp at abstract straws
I milk the thick and drying sap
from strained memories

What was once a labor of love
now struggles to be a love of labor
I stare blank into a starving white sea

Listen T' This Little Ditty

I sometimes think my poetry ain't poems in modern favor.
Intelligentsia declares, but I danged well won't waver
from writin' simple, unpretentious words 'n' thoughts called “witty”.
From now on my poetry ain't a poem, it's called a ditty.

“Listen t' this little ditty.” I've heard those cowboys say
when they begin to sing a song of wisdoms of the day.
Now I don't think me wiser than the smart guys that I know,
but I just like to fake it in my stand up poet's show.

Now cowboys, they write poetry to sum their thoughts in rhyme
'bout words o' wisdom or describin' real weird points in time -
like twisters twistin' towns apart or floods that float the cows
or simple words, “what goes comes 'round” brings thinkun' jus' like owls.

So listen to this little ditty, if fer nuthin' else than fun
of listenin' to a cowboy fake that he's a wiser one
a spoutin' words of poetry that some folks may call “gritty”.
I'll seldom waiver from my writin' what I call a ditty.

Reasons Unknown

It's all a figment of your imagination
my whole vision is pure contemplation
I'm only half of what you see
None of what you heard
I'm married to the game
but i'm fuqing the spoken word
the asss and tits just for distraction
they give the perfect ambiance for fatal attraction
i wanted you to fall in love
i wanted you to want to fit between my hips like a hand fits in a glove
if the mic was a dic i'm masturbating it
given my best head using just my lips
the stage is the bed you want to lay on with me
but as big as my ego is i'm just as horny
I don't really want you as much as you think
what i really want is to fuq fight you with paper and ink
i'm using you for ya lyrics and you don't even know
don't take it personal i'm just a poetry hoe
Don't make promises that you cant keep
i don't want ya promises i want you to challenge me
you can have me phonetically i will be ya trophy
make me close doors and draw curtains like i'm going to confession
i want a standing ovation when we get through with the freestyle session
the reason is because i love ya mind
to me mind fuking you is as good to me as it would be to you if you hit it from
behind
i love all the energy and creativity you put me in a daze
if i were to run out of ink you'd get your chance to lock me up in your sweet sweet
love
for days
the reasons are many but the chosen are few all i want to know is this good to
you?

The Poet Within

For you starless nights stretch out
      and scare away the morn

And yet it's you who tint and tinge,
      who paint and adorn

Every thread and strand that you stitch
      and loop with the years

Into the fine fabric of Life, Love,
      Death, it appears...

As you daydream nights at the seam
            of a seamless shore

      Sketching the now and tomorrow,
            spinning yarns of yore

      Beneath borderless horizons
            of the ocean skies

Till love knows no more your heart,
            till sight disowns your eyes.

Porcelain Midnight

Indebted to defining darkness
a fortress of pained souls crying a chorus
fearless and bonded by religious rites
reviving the dada movement fueled by absinthe
driven by inertia in absentia calling forth
dementia dripping with sorrow
and steeped in anxiety to say nothing at all
as smooth as glass pitch black as night
my self loathing pity is as to death
as porcelain is to midnight

In Lonely Tears, I Pray

O Lord, to you, I come today;
Fruits of my lips, I bring;
Hymns of praises, to you, I sing;
In lonely tears, I pray.

Yet worthy not I am, I ask
Have mercy on my soul;
Lord, despise not my every call;
‘Tis life, to you, I trust.

O Lord, to you, I come today;
Keep me, from vanity;
For in peace, where I longed to be;
In lonely tears, I pray.

"Porkpie Jones."

Porkpie Jones has brittle bones, and crusted corn-filled toes,

And sleety eyes and bulgy thighs, and brillo pad elbows,

His underarms are typical farms, and reek a barnyard smell,

Its quite the place for creepy, crawly, parasites to dwell,

The ample dirt in his ears and on his head has just began to harden,

There's so much dirt on him everywhere, he could grow a flower garden,

The birds fall quickly from the sky, whenever he starts to speak,

His teeth and gums are as black as coal, and all his bone joints squeak,

He trips when he walks, spits when he talks, and spills everywhere when he drinks,

Three triple Dagwood sandwiches to him are a light snack, his decorum and etiquette
stinks...

The ground shakes when he takes a step, and cars fly when he sneezes,

And he feels free to dine and snack on anything he pleases!

The sight of water gives him chills, and soap will make him screech,

He can't fit in his bathtub, so he bathes at the beach,

Porkpie dives into his drinks, and scorns the use of cups,

And when he falls, some will laugh, but the ground starts cracking up...

He's never been able to touch his toes, he can't reach any farther than his hips,

When he bends over, its always a treat to experience a total eclipse,

His home is in disarray, it needs improvement,

Porkie Orlivander Jones scorns unnecessary movement,

He's absolutely clueless, on how to close the gate,

Or feed his starving fish, or wash his every dish,

Or vacuum his entire floor, where dust mites romp and roam,

Or change his heaping can of trash thats nearly large as Nome,

Loads of bills that he won't pay, coat his table tops,

He puts his Suitcase in his closet, right next to the lamb chops,

Porkpie never was that bright, in school he was a tease,

In fact I think his grades were so low, that he would get straight Z's!

Well we all can learn a lesson here, I'm sure that all is known,

That we must keep our appearances neat, and always brush and scrub our feet,

And be respectful when we eat, or we could all end up like Mr.

Porkpie Orlivander Alowicious Alexander GianCarlo Markowitcz Jones!!!!!

Heart Of Love

There once was a heart made of stone,
Made hard by the life that its known,
But the older it grew
The more pain it went through,
And was made to do so on its own.

There once was a heart made of steel,
Made cold by the love it can't feel
All tears that were shed
For a love left for dead,
Now forever waits for love to heal.

There once was a heart made of gold,
Made out of a love that's grown cold,
But no mater what's tried
All the love held inside
Still resides beneath riches untold!

Oh!How the moon
Sits in the sky!
Oh!What of life
Has passed me by?

What of the trees?
What of the hills?
What of the streams?
To what do they fill?

What of this world,
And what's in sight?
What of the darkness?
What of the light?

What of this life?
What's to pursue?
Here in this poem,
What's it to you?

Sing A Song Of People

Sing a song of people
Walking fast or slow;
People in the city
Up and down they go.

People with their hats on,
Going in the doors.
People with umbrellas
When it rains and pours.
People in tall buildings
And in stores below;
Riding elevators,
Up and down they go.

People walking singly,
People in a crowd;
People saying nothing,
People talking loud.
People laughing,smilling,
Grumpy people too;
People who just hurry,
And never look at you!

Sing a song of people
Who like to come and go;
Sing of city people
You see but never know!

Pain

Pain is weakness leaving the body,
Bleeding through the skin
Pain is a knife,
constantly twisting into your side
Pain is a teardrop,
Crashing to the floor
Pain is the anger,
That breaks through the bars
Pain is persistent,
getting under the skin
Pain is the screaming,
No one cares to listen to
Pain is the screeching,
You can't stand to hear
Pain is everyone's worst fear,
But pain only makes you stronger

Take Up The Shaky Speare

Recall what old William, more or less, said,
  'we know not why we are so sad, for sooth';
Evoke his memory, rise from your bed
now, we'll share our own, hard-won Truth.
Derive definitions, donate to all
  the future Ages our new, ink-run shout;
Contemplate contemporary business, call
breathe sweetly, give darkness no out.
Push through former misery, then describe
  knowledge of having won through it;
Find the heaviest burdens, open them to
inspection; they're quite light, once lit.
Something like an old streetlight, the
  broken shards still give a glow;
Manipulate all yesterdays' dark madnesses,
  make them today's pensive flow.
Rather than, again, re-building Ilium
  with those same age-charred stones;
Let's erect our walls with new-cut bricks,
  though, still revere the aged bones;
We'll describe present courses, and not be
  haunted by some tyrant ghosts of old;
And, just like Shakes once said,
' even though it glitters, it might not be gold.'

looking in the mirror i say,
"i forgive you today."
but thats just a lie;
just to pass me by,
just what am i supposed to say?
oh sweet summer pain,
slowly driving me insane!
i didn't want to grow,
but i just dont know;
i don't wanna go all the way...
and so i cry,
deep down inside;
i feel as if i lie!
but i dont know why,oh why.
you feel it too,
as if it's true;
deep down inside you.
but you dont know what to do.
just believe in you...

How Mark T Made His Mark

Money for nothing...
Newmark & Lewis you see
Was where Mark T worked
And was visited,
By a famous rocker
Who likely got the idea from him
I long wondered if true
And have been more than satisfied
With the proof.

I thought this tribute was done,
Then I realized I'd missed
the mark...(and I do miss Mark, believe me)
Mark's mark was really on those
He shared the earth with.
No one ever influenced me musically
more than Mark. What he taught me,
I couldn't have learned in Juilliard's.
And not just music.
Mark was way ahead of his time.
Way ahead.
He had his weaknesses, who doesn't?
But he did have a good heart.
He was a good friend.
I am sure he was a good father.

I was in numerous bands with him.
Like I earlier stated, somehow
his presence calmed me, even
when we were facing unscaleable
obstacles.
Once he brought over two albums,
pre- band practice. I was introduced to
Floyd's "Atom Heart Mother", and the Dead's
Live Dead version of "Dark Star"

To this day, these are my favorite
pieces of music, particularly "Atom Heart".

How I wish we could have spent more time together.
How I grieve, with his family.
Only years later learning of this.
Countlessly trying to reach him prior.
Someday I will.

Delylah

Tears of brass dripping
eyes closed-
and a glass of whiskey,
sipping-
impenetrable ears penetrated.
Just thinking-
wish on a color
faded brown.
Broken strings
make no sound.
Drilling, digging a well,
of silence,
deep into the ground.
Musical thoughts a’ dancing in my mind,
melodies of the sickest kind.
Words of wisdom
never thought-
something new is something lost.
Something lost may be just fine,
but it still sends chills all down my spine.
I sit, five strings and a broken mind;
sipping gold.
Maybe I’m just wasting my time,
and wasted time is a wasted mind,
but a wasted mind is worth my time,
and some would say I’m sitting blind,
but sitting blind just frees your mind.
And that is what most folks can’t see
but that is how this poem came to be.
And Delylah lets me know who I am,
though Delylah just rests upon her stand

You Will Never Die

You will not die,
you will
not go away.
You sat the poison on
the table,
I saw it
with wet eyes, damp
cheeks. I wish
I could breath lavender
air, so that
life would leave me alone
I wish that you
would burn out.
Go away my mental
pain,
my black memories.
My broken rainbow, lost
in the fog
can see you in
the distance.
Never will you go away
because
scars never heal.

Alert and aware about alternatives,

Hands Clean

What did I miss?

You controlled yourself
and such
maturity
mess mess mess
hush hush hush
wont say anything

push the button
show me
everything
they see
Nothing

I'll put the soap away
I'll sew my mouth shut
I wont tell a soul
a word
pinky swear
mess mess
hush hush
wont say a thing

I'm not so blind

push the button
rewind the tape

and who said what again?

Who are you in this Act?
and who am I?
Why should I listen to you
If i'm not sure if i can trust you
and what's in it for me
and i know all about cleaning up after me

mess mess mess
hush hush hush
push the button

I'll hide the soap
i wont say anything
I'll keep myself in line
I'll be kind
I'll make them laugh
I'll make them cry

Weill be the best team
but why should I?

Hush Hush
such a mess
hush hush
Such a mess
push the button

What did I miss?

some songs rock and some songs roll
and some songs rock and roll
like blues with rhythm to the soul
The beat picks up a notch to pass
with backup bass lick kickin' ass
Two sounds merge to light your soul
Somewhere in the crashing sound
All the rhythm spinning round
across the blend a counter tune
whispers in and out
as easing teasing lips un pout
the crowd shouts drown it out
that magical harmonic
that makes a good song great
but somewhere in the smoky stands
an ear awakes
that's all it takes

Poetic Genius

I am a poetic genius, who comes up with the
most poetic lyrics people can't understand,
I have some perplexing words that Webster
can't comprehend.
I am a poetic genius, who can care less what
the world thinks,
because I get drunk off of poetry instead
of alcoholic drinks.
I am a poetic genius.
I am a poetic genius, who writes his
signature like a pro,
that's my name in cursive for those who
don’t know,
The perplexed one who can't handle my
poetic flow,
It's not that u are stupid, but compared to
me you're slow.
I am poetic genius because it's in my genes
and I'm a perfect example of what the word
genius means.

And think of what we are saying.

I can do better
all by myself
You leave me at home
and its not cool
You make me feel
like a dumb fool
i wait for your call
but you never think to dial
i used to love you,
you even made me smile
but now all i have are tears,
tears that roll down my cheek
i used to be strong
but with you i'm constantly weak
I'm sorry i have to leave you
but its something your making me do
because you've pushed me to the edge
you're making me leave you
but i do love you
and i always will i swear
but i feel I'm the only the only one
in this relationship and its not fair

Willy-Fred, Willy-Fred

Willy, don't be silly...
As for Fred, check your head,
Once again, you got things
all wrong,
I wasn't writting poetry,
nor out to steal a song...
I do get the feeling,
Your disdain for me is strong,

That's okay,
I gotta say,
No loss in disbelief,
But don't question me,
Cause you don't know
If I were a lyrical thief,
What if I did write those
songs,
And held the copyright too,
And let others record them,
You think other, I might do?

So check out the copyright credits,
And wake me when you're through,
Cause as for your snide comments,
I've heard enough from you.

What I Have To Say

I cry my tears
But they are mistaken

For rain

I write my words
But they are mistaken

For outlets

They may be outlets
But you are mistaken

Here's why:

I do not write
To vent to space

The emptiness of the world
As I hear nothing but air

I cry to be heard
Though no one will listen

I give a shoulder
When someone tells me their story

But no one asks for mine

I am shrugged off after I have listened

But what about you?
When have you listened?

Given me advice I have never gotten before?
When have I received even a hint

Of thanks?

What am I, but the words I type on a keyboard
To be read by the public, but never really understood

Who am I, but a person behind
Yet another username

Am I to be cast out of mind
As easily as a Saturday morning cartoon?

Will no one listen
When I have problems of my own?

I will never tire of helping those I care about
Through their pains, and helping them succeed

But I would also like
To be heard in return

To be helped as I have helped

To be understood as I have understood

To be more than a shoulder to rest on
When my Earthly cares weigh down on me

I want to be more
Than a figure in the crowd

More than a writer
With no one to read my words

I want to be noticed
Heard for what I have to say

And worst of you
Get dizzy
You want to just break

Down into darkness
And you just can’t
Snap out of it

Then you sometimes
Hide
Beneath your desk
So that no one can see you
You are so afraid
Of what people will think
Of you
That you
F

Forget what this is
All about
That you want yourself
To get some pride
For yourself
Not anyone else
And the only way to do that
Is though

Poetry is the only way to
Get out that anger
The only way that you can
Truly be you

Delusions of Life

My trials, my fate,
Destiny lies at those golden gates,
You think I must sound absurd,
To preach with the talent of my spoken word,
Speak,
Speak,
Speak,
For your voice is tacit,
If you never speak you will never be heard,
Never be able to raise your voice to the sky,
And wonder how,
And wonder why,
You must test yourself to better yourself,
The more lies you spread,
The closer you come to being dead,
Dead inside,
Empty,
Emptiness,
Follows you as you walk,
Watching the prey you often stalk,
Retreat!
Retreat now!
You have yet the courage to test the fate,
The fate that lies inside the gate,
You’ll burn before you come to the conclusion,
That life is just an intimate delusion.

Haphazardly Poetic

If you're a judge in a poetry contest
                              elimination,
look again and again before you jump
                        into a conclusion;

Printed words may look like black ants
                     in batallion formation
or squads of stragglers crawling out
                    with uncertain direction;

Oftentimes they're chunks, slices and splinters
                        of random thoughts
haphazardly strewn on the pages like black,
                       burnt wings of moths;

They may not have creative sparks, rhythmic pace
                              or inspiration,
but behind haphazardness itself may be
                               imagination.

Dark Divide

A nightmare wind blows hot and furiously,
dispersing distant clouds, and with them, hope's glee.
The Sun's glory sets slowly and indifferent,
ignorant of it's power, bloodily sent.
Night encroaches, as it's purple, bruised sky
re-invents itself; deceives the human eye.
         The wind dies;
         The light fails;
         Night comes alive.
Darkness takes form in and about the forest;
spread wings for secret mythology's dearest.
Village's residents remain shut indoors,
ignoring the Night; fear falls 'tween cracks on floors.
Outside's threat looms; sounds, smells, tastes, sights unseen.
Moon's no aid; it's device, a mystery scheme.
         Howling heard;
         Stench of rot;
         Almonds in mouth.
In a grey room, well-lit, yet, ever silent,
a young man stands, blind gaze awaits his torment.
The woods, enshrouded, whisper lies without words;
hidden horror's absent shine, like eyes of blackbirds.
Movement, black against black; he calls out, "Evil!",
he flinches, then steps back, his skin become chill.
         The moon fades;
         The stars blink;
         Air's burden, thick.
He turns away to rub burning in his eyes;
snaps the light off and finds himself amongst Dark's lies.
Alone to twist then turn, feels Night's foul glower;
heart pumping, eyes clenched, rustling sounds, burnt odour,
Coppery taste of blood, darkness darkening.
"Save yourself, serve yourself!",Night's voice, harkening.
         Window cracks;
         Cruel claws grasp;
         "Young man must die!".
Quick burst of robin chirps, earthy smell cleanses,
clean taste of a cool breeze invades his senses.
Forcing eyes open, young man sees Sun's gold tears;
morning's erupted, washing away old fears.
He wakes in the woods, memory's pawn no more,
all shall witness him; author of his own lore.
         Night recedes;
         Light's greeted;
         hope can now surge.
Brilliant radiance past a distant peak,
revealing shadows and reviving the meek.
Night's lessons to villagers behind blinds;
they must step outside to leave false light behind.
Just as the Sun, people must daily travel;
the Night broods, awaits each Day to unravel.

OutSpoken

What will she say next?
To turn a simple saying complex.
What will she write this time?
To change complexity into a vulgar crime?
We want you to understand.
They need to have freedom banned.
For fear of impressionable minds.
The youthful kinds.
To keep them jaded.
Freeing them from the torture that has been faded.
It's still there.
Hard and strong, unable to compare.
Hidden beauty in the disgrace.
Ugliness in every place.
Broken homes and hearts.
Ability is lost to put back the parts.
So what will he say that’s new?
To make everything you think to be untrue.
And what will he write now?
To raise your eager brow.
So leave the truth up the observant.
Because our emotions are raw and fervent.
