Temple of Life

Nearby an ornate edifice meant for the worship of God I kneel in the clearing of a verdant woods where sun’s light streams down - spirit-touched, as nature’s choir chants and wind whispers prayers Written 5/6/14 by Andrea Dietrich for nette onclaud's Sijo in a Temple Poetry Contest

Moments In Time

The sweetest sounds of burning trees
A gentle stroking in the breeze
The calm has lasted past the storm
Cloudy visions, Satan’s roar
Too many sights have passed my way
A time found only in the haze
The softest screams are running bare
My aching bones creak as I stare

You walk a distance towards me
The fall’s eternal, can’t you see?
I’m a memory in your heart
I whisper to you in the dark

The battle’s started at the end
No one is coming to repent
The sinners grab their wine from prey
No judgment calling here to stay
The sport is reckless to be told
The one is laughing at his souls
It falters nowhere to be sure
The power grows forevermore
Like a spirit in the wind
I have no say in where you’ve been
But cross the line to come to me
And pay the price for ecstasy

You walk a distance towards me
The fall’s eternal, can’t you see?
I’m a memory in your heart
I whisper to you in the dark.

Your Kiss from Heaven

Imagine you are outside sweltering. You’re faint, and it’s a bad state you are in. What sweet relief a summer’s rain can bring - When droplets start to kiss you on the chin! Or maybe you’re a little bit too warm, and air conditioning is all you seek when Mother Nature comes and shows her charm and blows you kisses - wind across your cheek. And maybe it is winter, and you yearn for something lovely as the north wind blows. You turn around and suddenly you learn God heard your prayer as snow flakes touch your nose. The rain, the breezes and the snow are His. How natural your kiss from heaven is. By Andrea Dietrich For the Contest of Gail Angel Doyle

The Legacy of Trees

To the divinity within all of us

The wind blows outside my window
Reeling mercilessly against the trees.

Its power deployed, their will to destroy
And I can hear them yell in rebellion.

Daring the wind to try with all its might
Had gone there before, they know the score.

They know the fury the wind can carry
Whatever is in store, they cannot ignore.

They stand out, proud, arms stretched out
Bonded are their souls, holding the same goal.

Their unity, a fortress that found no distress
They would face this trial as they did those prior.

It was their legacy born in tenacity
From the beginning, it was God given.

So that man would come to understand
The extent of his God given potential.

To walk his way through life's hills and valleys
Building character, until he is one in heart with the Creator.

My Heart is Amazed

My heart is amazed by His boundless compassion
My heart is in awe of the love of the Lord
The hand of His mercy endureth forever
What riches of kindness in heaven are stored!

My heart is amazed at the sight of creation
My heart is in awe of the works of the King
The fountains and river, the depth of the ocean,
The rock and the trees of His greatness shall sing!

My heart is amazed on the height of the mountain
My heart is in awe of the stars in the sky
Unmoving, unchanging, the Lord is eternal
Though years of the mortal so quickly fly by

My heart is amazed by the lamb and the lion
My heart is in awe of the birds in the air
Created for man by the hands of the Master
The heights and the depths of his dwelling to share

My heart is amazed by the King of the nations
My heart is in awe of His death on the tree
The Lamb that was Slain, by the word of the Father
Arose from the grave my Redeemer to be!

Doubtless

I Know

If I should abandon myself
In the seed of your heart,
I know, I would germinate.
If I should cry
In the lines of your palms,
I know, you would dry my tears.
If I should confide myself
In the sea of your love,
I know, I would not drown.
If I should lose my sight
In your brighter light,
I know, I would go no blind.
If I should lose my tongue
In the preaching of your course,
I know, you would not let me down.
If I should lose my hands
In your forever fullness,
I know, I would not be wretched.
If I should abandon myself
In the beauty of your mind,
I know, I would not regret.
If I should forget myself
In the caressing of your soul,
I know, my life would not be the same.
If I should take the bold step
And scale through those narrow paths to you
I know I would be victorious

Be Still

Be Still.......

I will walk with God
In the beauty of the morning
While the dew still lies upon the ground
While the birds still sing their morning song
And while the evening sky still twinkles like neon lights
And the sun still rises with its golden glow bathing everything in glorious light
And in The evenings quiet where I live has entered its time of rest at calling dusk
He still holds me tight in His warmth under downy wings soft like clouds that puff and blow across a horizon that only God could grow to water and shelter a land dependant on His goodness-

Yes I still walk with God in great expectations- reliant on His promises of always being with me- And He- even amidst the horrors of war famine and disease and evil atrocities born from the darkness of evil- His promises are still new every morning that I wake- and He still bears me through the trials and carries my burdens and makes them light- He is still my Father- And He is still My Lord and- He still- Knows my name.

mother nature, mother earth

Mother Nature, Mother Earth.

If Mother Earth stood in front of you what would you say?
Sorry for taking your whales away,
Sorry for cutting your forests to shreds,
Sorry little animals for taking your beds,
Sorry polar bears for melting your ice, having to swim further to save your own live,
Sorry to all the fish in the sea, because its to hot you try to flee.
Sorry for the birds and the bees, not many left on the all gone trees.
Sorry for the nuclear plants, but man seems to think that he must advance.
Sorry for the wars we cause, they certainly are not gods or yours.
Sorry for the faith man has lost, your biggest creation is losing with cost.

If you were Mother Earth and told these things, what would you say to me?
“SORRY, SORRY, SORRY”, is all you have to say,”
You destroy everything which we have given you”.
” The animals are going have gone extinct,
You kill the air you so precisely need,
You fight each other and call it in the name of god, which god do you perceive,
The one with love to all, for all, which he created,
Or the one who fell from grace with hatred.

I would look at her with glee
Because the earth sounds like the second scenario to me.
The next question I would ask
Mother Nature are we going to last
. If everyone on the earth of today
threw down their arms and started to pray
would god hear our prays in just that day
mother nature would look at me
and look around at the all gone trees
then she would bend down on her green leafed knees
A tear in her sunlit eyes saying to me
“Sorry to late”.

What would you do if Mother Earth or Nature stood in front of you?

The End.

Where God Is Near

The rising sun throws it’s first beams
across the morning glade.
These waking hours are as it seems
to me the strength of day.

I stop and take in as I walk
the newness of the sights:
the deer feeding among the stalks,
the hawk up high in flight.

For me this quiet time of day
is sanctuary here.
In this reprieve I want to stay,
in this, where God is near.
