Hidden Beauty

Her smile was lopsided, crooked
And her eyes had lost their shine
In a wheelchair bound and broken
Sat this mother dear of mine

Once the one that they called “Sunshine”
Now was bowed with grief and care
Garbled speech and eyes unfocused
Made the people stop and stare

Yet in this woman there was hidden
Beauty of the rarest kind
Love for God and for her family
Love for words all graced her mind

She was brave and she was noble
Took the falls and burns and smiled
Knowing that her child, a daughter
Lived with fear so justified

People did not see the beauty
Hidden in her crumpled form
All that they could show was pity
Perhaps that is just the norm

But in her dear withered body
MS had so brutalized
Was a mother’s lasting beauty
That her daughter eulogized

Once a flower brightly blooming
In the garden of my home
She remains my flower ever
In the memories where I roam

Eileen Manassian

I grew up knowing my mother was ill and that she would eventually die due to MS. I lost my Mama on March 19, 2000. I still miss her...Her name? Angel. That was my Mama's name. When she was younger, they used to call her Sunshine because of her dazzling smile....

A String of Pearls

The amber light, through window glass
like time itself, shines much the same
While some things change, some still remain
Tonight the moon recalls her name

Her silken hair, her porcelain neck
a strand of pearls, a diamond clasp
I find them now, within my grasp
They bask within the timeless past

With envy now, the night is awed
Covetously, it fondles rows
of tiny orbs, which, one by one
are miracles, with moons, within

I hold the pearls within my palm
and think of old Glenn Miller songs
and mother dancing long ago
She wore them like another skin
back, long before my life began

A grain of sand, then pearls become
A part of her, .... a part of me

So fragile, weak the thread is bare
as if the sun might gaze too long
a tarried glaze, the string would fray
and pearls would fall and roll away

Perhaps such things meant to be
Each miracle, has just a while
Glenn Miller songs have come and gone
I'll put away the pearls for now
so moon can own the night again

Becoming Mother Nature

What if Mother Nature
 retired,
and I applied for her position?
How would I dare
to assume,
 her un-ending cycles;
 her secret duties?
Could I invoke such power,
or must I simply become her?
Spin myself
into a cocoon of natural faith.
Let the atoms of the cosmos
 transform my light into spirit.

Would I then emerge,
complete with every force of mystery?
Awaken each day with pink mist,
 and burn each evening sky
 with crimson?
Command each leaf, each breath
and every symphony
of living?
Would I wear her gowns
 of argent, lavender and aqua;
step lightly on mossy stones,
 and dance upon silvery meadows?
Grace the heavens
in cloud-white glinting wings
and in
 the depths of darkest night
 bear stars, filled
with the promise
 of every beginning?

The Young Gardener

She is learning young
Pure genteel pleasures of a garden
Amid the fragrant roses and towering lupines
That give the winter pardon.
Sweet feminine echo of her beautiful mother
She holds up her watering can
a tiny version of the other.

Now she mimics to perfection
The sprinkling of flowers
as she giggles with delight
At birds in secret bowers.

She can't wait for the 'morrow
Her duties to employ
She is mother's little helper
And Daddy's little joy

The Reunion

In the beginning it is just a lovely cloud Collin comes across her in the coffee house One of his friends calls his attention Look, your mom is here, let’s go elsewhere A descent of birds pecking at his brain The cloud he keeps looking at for quite a while The face and the figure look like his He goes to the toilet to look into the mirror The semblance he sees is a puzzling wonder The birds dance and sing in tumultuous chorus His friend confounded when he is told Collin does not know who his mother is He had been adopted when he was just two The lady too looks at them off and on When a bridge comes up none can say The next few hours he passes in a daze Is the quest for four years going to succeed Is the cloud preordained for the sudden rain Or it is just a fortuitous resemblance But then isn’t it an exactly mirror image Returning home Collin scrutinizes himself again In the mirror he finds the same chiseled face The same desirous dreamy eyes, head full of hair He recites poems and talks to himself Same grace radiates from the daffodils The plant with the flowers hangs in the air The charm and the fragrance are irresistible He craves to rush forward and hug it tight And flood the flower with crimson kisses The scented air stays elusive nonetheless Collin says everything to his adopted parents They are very glad and cooperate to get to the truth There would be no problem in living all together Collin laughs and says very forcefully The twenty two years old son is no more an introvert When the magnet works in the very stem cells The eventual fusion is inevitable obviously She takes him to her apartment She lives alone her husband dead No shadow of children nowhere in the rooms Thousand wasps biting inside his head The pain is traumatic for the hidden truth Light and dark interchange day after day Poems of love keep churning the two hearts Drama outside and a flood within The day DNA test confirms the gene The two intermingle to a river serene ______________________________________________________________ August 8, 2016: For the Contest: Long Lost Family Sponsored by Silent One

A mother's treasures

A solitary piece the diamond
precious rare gem most treasured
by those lucky enough to hold
Once in possession it is rarely out of grasp
Like the gemstone the mother
requires very specific conditions
in holding fast her (family/) childrens love
Treasured forever in her heart
she will go out of her way
to preen and protect them
holding them dear to her
deep within her maternal safe – the heart
closely guarded by the mind
Her infatuation of all treasures to her
are totally understandable
especially when you think to the complexity
of structure and process taken in creation
Just as from the ‘unbreakable’ in ancient greek
this alletrope of carbon
with strength of bonding between atoms
is representative of that strong love
between mum and child
The maternal being could be compared
to the superlative physical qualities of the stone
Even the characteristic luster
of this gem so prevalent from its ability
to disperse light and colour
compared to the many strengths
roles and qualities of the mother
seen by the many she deals with daily
A most high pressured job
versus the high pressured temperature
within the Earths mantle
that forms the delightful rock it gives birth to
Infants delight and ignite the forbearer
just as the jewel would dazzle the room
a mother’s love encaptures the magical luster
of those she’s birthed and nothing
stands inbetween this richest of cargo’s

a mothers love

on this special day
I doest say
that thy mother is of graceful sort
it hath been said she is devine
and I do holdeth this to be true
now dearest mother may I be so bold
to tell you the sun still shinest on one so old
as true as this be
you still grasp your faith
like the roots of a tree
tis said you are wise
and this I have found true
the eye doeth grow deceived when it is drawn upon you
as your thoughts become known
only then your age is shown

HIdden Beauty

She was plain of face and form
Someone noticed by very few
Of quiet voice and few words
Inner beauty hidden from view

A tender heart so full of love
Her soul as pure as driven snow
My mother, with work worn hands
As beautiful as anyone I know

Blossoms And Bubbles

Dancing butterflies and laughter
without a care. A day full of sweet
smelling blossoms fill the air.

Sister's golden hair glistened in the
Summer sun's glow, as Mother blew
colorful bubbles that bounced off
her little nose.

Mother's heart was always full of
love to share and the day of blossoms,
and bubbles will forever in my memories
be kept with loving care.

Precious and few are moments shared
together. This wonderful day of blossoms
and bubbles, in my heart will last forever.

Mother Nature's Little Prince

A most beautiful little green frog swims quietly and so gracefully
While his eyes gaze gently on a mountain looming in the distance.
He’s at ease as he swims in a deep forest pond warmed by the sun.
Lost catching flies inside the shadows as an echo holds on to a
Certain gentle stillness within him humming with burning sighs.

This little green frog was called “Froggy” by Mother Nature,
And he was her little precious star-light promise of pretty colors.
Froggy was the Gem of Her Eyes: handsome, funny and intelligent
With kindness so overwhelming and a soft-touching tenderness.
He was talkative, and quiet princely by his apparent noble mien.

Froggy had a divine hope and destiny to wish for a dream princess.
Mother Nature knew that “Her Froggy” was indeed so magical as
His golden fingers of light painted a rainbow array of new born life.
“Her Froggy” was much more than a mere amphibian in this life,
Although he was dark green and sprinkled with light black spots.

Froggy lay on a lily leaf faraway as his thoughts sailed freely into
Another world, where his most infectious and funny smile made him
Quite popular and noticeable to a beautiful young fairy princess who
Was smitten instantly with his looks and his princely correct behavior.
For the young fairy princess it was love at first sight—and so precious!

Froggy was slowly changing and love became his desire and passion.
With a purity shone silver in streaming beauties of light pure gold
At the rainbow’s end was a bridge of his loving tears as he sang a
Melodious song of love with a supreme confidence for the princess.
Upon meeting his princess their mutual fate was woven now as one.

Mother Nature’s enchanted wish for “Her Froggy” and his princess
Was now at hand for their love and emotion were now blended as one.
All that remained was that magical kiss to make them both human.
When these two beings of wondrous beauty kissed—the very stars
And comets in Heaven above shone so brightly that night became day!

With love and the omnipotent and majestic whisk of God’s divine hand,
Froggy and his princess metamorphosed into complete human form!
This was truly a sight in Heaven itself to behold and cherish for eternity!
Now they were a royal pair: A prince and his princess in love—reflected
In the radiant colored light of a mystical rainbow of heavenly direction.

Mother Nature cried joyous tears of hope and happiness at this splendid
Occurrence, making the very rivers on Earth flow in a great abundance
With the sweetest and purest mountain spring water one could imagine!
Now as “Her Froggy”—a real prince now—kissed his princess again,
God’s angels anointed them with heavenly star dust shining so brightly!

The new prince now known as “Frederic,” and his princess took their
Royal places in human society with no one ever suspecting or knowing
From whence or where they came, and their divine relationship to
Mother Nature herself, which was her secret and their secret shared
Together and forever to the very end of time!

Since First I Saw You

Since first I saw you, it was your eyes,
mesmerizing, your gaze transporting
me to a realm, not of fantasy, real,
where young men go when cupid’s
arrow takes root.

Since first I saw you, it was your lips,
captivating, holding me frozen
in anticipation of our lips brushing
for the first time.

Since first I saw you, it was your voice,
a crescendo, light, invigorating,
each word you speak intensifies
my hearing, enveloping each
note, time ceases as I hang motionless
savoring, memorizing.

Since first I saw you, it was your hair,
long, flowing, gently rising above
your shoulders as a slight breeze
passes through sending waves
of your essence my way.
The sun magnifying each strand,
highlighting the minute
variances of invigorating color,
creating a halo effect, a portrait of
your beauty forever imprinted.

Since first I saw you, It was you,
my love forever more for you,
only you.

Mother's Highlights

The highlights in your hair, so familiar
Rays of sunshine, rays of love
I can't remember a time without them
I don't want to remember a time without you.
The smile on your face is genuine,
and Mother, I'll miss it so
The smile of my own, quite similar;
But I want you to know that I love you
Just as much as I know you love me,
So in the next year
In the next two
Please don't forget, ever,
That I really love you.
When I look into the brown of your eyes,
And the soft growing wrinkles in your cheeks,
(yet still that beautiful, youthful glow,
leading people to believe you are my sister)
Brings tears to the blue of my own.
Mother, time is racing faster
Though I'll miss you, I have to do this.
I know in whom I have trusted
I know in whom I'll trust forever.
He looks over us, you taught me that,
He will look over us, forever.
I will miss your tan and freckled arms
Reaching out to me before I walk upstairs,
But for these next years, I have to do this.
For these next years, I will be thinking of you.
In the next year
In the next two
Please don't forget, ever,
That I will always love you.

The Moment Of Finality.

A beauty of the finest splendor…captivating
Seizing the rooms attention on the inhale
Now a shrinking shell of her former self
Caught in a chemical coma to ease her pain

Murmuring fate in silences void…foreboding
Her eyes not seeing the milieu’s approach
Those illusory walls protection now ravaged
She stands naked before bereavements eyes

As the nights pass I sit at her bedside…steady
No corollary thought as the clock keeps pace
I allay the fear by a whisper looking for lucidity
While her random gasps for life squeeze within me

Soft regrets for the misery I’ve caused…repentant
Adrift in the words I bellowed in toxic anger
Yearning to drink of the venom washed over you
To share one moment in the clarity of forgiveness

The scent of a spring dawn’s beauty fills the air…mocking
Stroking your hair I stutter out my final goodbye
Ready to be chained to the morose you absolve me
Taking with you my weighted anguish with simple words

Mom opened her eyes one last time and said…I love you too…

The Ardent Rose

While holding frail roses close to the breast,
I think of a dawn, so perfect and fair,
ardent with sunlight and warm on the crest

I watched from the window, you were recessed,
deep in thorn bushes, gold in your hair,
while holding frail roses close to the breast

You seemed like a child, barefoot, at best,
pulling a weed, as the breeze stirred the air,
ardent with sunlight and warm on the crest

You looked to the sky, your thoughts off somewhere,
as if you knew time was fragile, at best,
while holding frail roses close to the breast

I think you knew then, how moments, compressed
must fade like the rose, when autumn prepares,
ardent with sunlight and warm on the crest

I've learned through the years, how timeless and blessed
are keepsakes we hold, like roses, once pressed,
while holding frail roses close to my breast,
ardent with sunlight, and warm on the crest

Time Runs On Past Every Bend

Time Runs On Past Every Bend

Down new trail with purpose and gentle ease
chasing hope and new morn's glowing smile.
Flowing along with a sunrise breeze
heart stopping awe, every once in a while.

Branches overhead wrapped in deep forest green
bird songs filling this emerald isle.
Sun gracing the screaming sky blue sheen
above this leaf carpeted aisle.

Hoping time here never dares to end
as wanting heart finds its needed glow.
Yet find that time runs on past every bend
and brings Nature's all, along in tow.

Down new trail with purpose and gentle ease
spirit flows along with a sunrise breeze.

Mother Nature's Mistake

Mother Nature’s Mistake

Hills that go on for miles
Pines, oaks and maples reach for the sky
Their leaves casting a cooling shade on a hot summer day
Animals of all kinds dance in the gentle breeze
Flowers fill in the green blanket of meadow grass
Added beauty from a gracious Mother Nature
You sit among this beauty
Glowing in the late evening’s golden sun
Mother Nature watches as her work fades
She sees you and knows that she cannot match your beauty
So she created the night to try and hide you
But your beauty cannot be hidden
You were made to be beautiful
That was Mother Nature’s one mistake
She created one being more beautiful than anything she could create
And for that she should be praised
And thanked for giving you to the world

Gaia: Mother Earth

Rain sprung a leak from heaven,
falling, falling, gently falling
bathing an Osprey nest,
upon a tall mountain crest,
Mother Earth will guide this quest.
Her beauty surrounds the woodlands best.

Rainbow prisms ever glow,
lighting the stage that's set,
for a day forest winds blowing free,
ribbons of light and dark greens,
around winding shady crystal streams.
Bald eagle shrieks resounding,
with delightful sounds of this kind,
Mother Earth will share in your dreams,
Come now, alive inside her mind.

Mother Earth beheld a secret garden,
dressed in her finest sacred apparel.
She came into being as a Goddess,
brought forth in light from heaven,
pure love at her core evolves to heal,
while souls touch her essence so real.

A spirit palace; a marriage of hearts,
co-joined to share love's healing grace,
A word, a touch, a smile bestowed,
blossomed love buds betwixt as one place,
blessings tendered upon human petals,
scarred by wounds received over time
each gift of life brought here to cherish
beloved of the gardens divine

Tree of Life in Gaia's gardens midst
to those who find themselves love entwined
nurtured peace through her roots planted deep
no greater love has been known so divine
Mother Earth sows seeds as we sleep

Pond ripples flow in gentlest of wakes
Bearing graceful blessings borne of love,
Birds singing quietly until she awakes
Sacred flowers growing in gardens well kept
Bringing peace to all as Gaia Goddess slept

The Definition Of A Real Woman

(W)- A real woman knows that the wages of sin is death so she is not concerned about the wages of a real man, because money comes and goes like day and night; but true love comes just every blue moon. A real woman isn't loud and doesn't have to be the center of attention. Money is a gold-diggers virtue, while patience is a real woman’s virtue. A real woman is always wary of the image she displays to the world because she knows her children are watching her every move. A real woman’s wisdom comes from the teachings of her elders and the experiences and hardships life brings. A real woman is the wings that help a broken man learn to fly again. When you become the object of a real woman’s affection, winning is the only option.

(O)- A real woman’s main obligation is to better herself, before she attempts to become someone’s better half. A real woman is very obliged with all that God has blessed her with. When a man takes a real woman for granted, she makes up her mind to put him away into oblivion. A real woman is use to jumping hurdles because overcoming obstacles in life keeps her on the right track. A real woman doesn't spend her time worrying if failure is around the corner, because she occupies her freedom chasing her dreams in her most comfortable running shoes. A real woman is a hopeless romantic ready to be wooed with an odyssey of love with a real man by her side.

(M)- A real woman’s presence is magnanimous and captures attention because of the poised and elegant stature of her classy nature. A real woman is like the magnet of ecstasy. All women don't attend college or hold prestigious employment, but for many being the Valedictorian of mothers everywhere is the major of their lives. A real woman respects the art of marriage and believes in monogamy. A real woman’s life is the motion picture of sophistication. The mythology of a woman began within a man’s ribs and ends in the beat of his heart.

(A)- A real woman sticks to her man like glue and never abandons his side. A real woman has the ability to do anything a man can. A real woman has the power to fill the abyss of a man’s pains with joy. A real woman prays with her other half because faith is the key of remaining on one accord. A real woman will amaze you with the way she adapts to changes in her ambiance. A real woman is the architect of her own destiny.

(N) A real woman needs a man to understand and love her for everything she is and for everything she is not because a good support system is a leading factor in longevity within relationships. A real woman is the nexus between love and happiness. When you converse with a real woman you will realize that she is nimble with her every response. No man can ignore the nymph of a real woman, because it is in her D.N.A to be notable.

A Woman Like a Rose

The rose bud is small and the smell is so sweet
And no other flower in the garden quite so unique

When the petals unfold it makes a beautiful rose
and the fragrance of that flower fills the air

Take the thorns from that beautiful rose
and the beauty can no longer to be found

When the morning dew falls softly on the rose
it's like a tear on a woman's face when she cries

And when a woman's pride is taken away
like the rose her beauty is faded and gone

So never make a woman cry and men be very aware
her beauty may be hidden but the thorn is still there

my hidden diamond
love's sweet jewel

Heaven sent
Angelic countenance
Beauty so pure

Lovely daughter
your character delights
my devotion forever

Heartbeat on screen
My unbelief ceased
the moment
You
first squeezed my finger

ONCE AGAIN THANK YOU

I was just trying to remember the past
trying to remember the good people
 and the bad people,
that i came across on my way,

i want you to know
that you are among the good people
that left a good trace in my life,

once again i just want to say thank you
for passing through my life,
is so short but is wonderful
i want you here forever.

A Mother Like No OTher

I sing of a special mother
One like no other
One bothered about another

A mother who smiles and care
One who did nothing but share
It is great to know she is always there

When tear drops she brought a toy
Her whispers sparkles unceasing joy
Her love is stronger than the Helen of Troy

You taught me from wrong to right
You taught me the difference between darkness and light
You taught me to recite the Lord’s Prayer day and night

Envelope yourself in a mothers Love
For she is like an angel from above
Never trade her love for the price of a dove

As we celebrate all mothers in a special way
Thank you for your fidelity, even when we went astray
And above all, thank you for what we are today

He grants the barren woman a home, Like a joyful mother of children.
Praise the LORD! Ps 113:9

My Daughter and Son-in -law

So beautiful they are in their hearts soul and mind
Sweet laughter and logic they will never leave behind

Each one as unique as a precious gem
Of a special love that only they can give

Their minds on an endless flight
Will always soar high and out of sight

As the stars start to light the sky at night
and you see a star flash that has gone by

Remember the love that I give you
To my daughter and son who will always be one.

Eyes of Mother Nature

Not just the sky itself they are every ocean and stream
Windows of beauty fringed in verdant shades of green.

Look deeply, in there, for rainbows, flowers and rain
Not a trace of sadness shows for things that cause her pain.

Content within her powers of evergreen renewal
Her eyes so often soft are secret, mystic jewels.

Resplendant, they reflect bright fires of sunset hues
So much she gives us, yet we never pay the dues.

These eyes- so beautiful, we her children fill with hurt
Beware, the day will come, her precious gaze she will avert.

Heart of The Sea

The heart of the sea is a mother's heart
She is the great ancestral mother of all life on the planet
Deep within the mysterious waters of her womb
she conceived and gave birth to the first life form
which evolved into more complex organisms
that live on the land and in the air

She is an essential part of the planet's ecosystem
feeding the clouds which bring rain and snow
that sustain life on the earth
Through tiny ocean plants and photosynthesis
she removes carbon dioxide from the air
and converts it to more than one half of the oxygen
in the earth's atmosphere

She is the great food provider to the planet
having her own internal food chain
with tiny phytoplankton at the lower end
and enormous sharks and whales at the upper end
She feeds creatures from the land and air
that venture to fish in her waters

She is a thing of beauty even in her enraged fury
with massive waves towering over a hundred feet
and the seething white foam of her waters
This has been her action
even before the advent of man on the planet
Man must respect her behaviour
or suffer death and destruction if he does not

She is a thing of beauty in her calm stillness under the setting sun
which lights up the evening sky in its glorious splendour
and paints a glistening beam of light on the water's surface
in line with the sun and surrounds it
with brilliant colours of the rainbow

I'm Sorry

im sorry ive caused you pain.
i thank you for sticking by me through everything.
and not giving up on me. i dnt no what
i would do if you had given up on me.

Im sorry ive lied to your face and you knew it,
but you still loved me the same as before.
so i thank you.
i dont know if i would be here with you if you had given up on me.

im sorry ive broken your trust over and over,
and you still wanna trust me.
i thank you again.
i dont know wat i would have done if you didnt trust me.

im sorry ive done things behind your back,
even though i promised you i would never do them.

Qualities of Health Engendering Women

They see strengths
Not the limitations
These are people who will make you proud of yourself
They will tell you why you’re special
Trust you to the point you have to answer their expectations
They make you better than you normally are
You can be proud of yourself
They respect you
For what you’ve done
Where you’ve come from
They see what you’ve experienced something real
Respect you for your courage
They live by their rules
They do not expect you to follow theirs
They are at peace to themselves
They are not proving anything to you
They are good listeners
Sincere in their interest in you
You feel important
They are available for honest
Genuine discussion
Makes you want to share yourself
