Haiku for Isidora's moonlight smoke:

A stellar pathway:
No rain in the sky to douse
the moons umbrella.

Hoary puffs racing
through glowing rings, while she smokes:
Lunar reckoning.

Coconut palms wave
their sleek fronds in the high wind:
Long midnight goodbyes.

Harvest Moon -- Lughnasadh Haiku

**I wrote against traditional 5 -7-5 and twisted to 7-5-7 on these...can I do that?**

Looking up in the sky at
A full harvest moon
Cool, aglow this autumn night

Mists circle in, surrounding
Earth's last summer song
Warm nights are now memories

The Hunter calls the Chosen
To this sacred grove
Children of seasons gather

The leaves--brown and gold and red
Signify the end
Of summer's warmth and passion

Souls are drawn within, waiting
Keeping close to home
Till winter's dying cycle

haiku love moonbeam

                                                 after we make love
                                       moonbeam falls on her red cheeks
                                                clouds stop to see her

speak of the moon
but not of empty presence
the fox      its shadow

on the water
still of night
the moon      its rippled light

moon behind a cloud
           when lovers part
tears without witness

Moon Haiku Questionku

Stars twinkle above
overshadowed by the moon--
lovers hold their breath

Two hearts are beating
together like they are one
moonlight on her face

He takes her hand
falls to bended knee
Will his ring outshine the moon?

DRUNKEN MOON HAIKU -not for contest

Drunken Moon Haiku

smokeless tobacco
seeking light from another
mooching off the sun

loitering in dusk’s
drunken aura of darkness
last call at sunrise

a lone wolf’s farewell
song of life’s broken spirit
hobos serenade

round moon – square window
cold framing whiskey’s wisdom
red cheeked aftermath

(Dedication: For Dave Wood, the Lyric Man)

Teary moonlight
Flash from heaven;
Lovers unite

Teenage lover boy
Bus-stop waiting;
Delayed arrival

Nicotine addict
Puffing for dear life;
Carcinogenic highs

Grass blades
Protrude through cracks;
Sidewalk stone slabs

College vacation
Rowdy students arguing;
Monsoon weather hurls

Housefly fly past
Decadent visit

Stars decorate
Night sky twinkling;
Croaking August frogs

Anxious To-Do List
Smudge of raindrops;
Go with the flow

Crazy poet laughs
Mad self-talk;
Intoxicating grief

Back track then
To nowhere far;
Celestial timing

Words carved
Old tree trunk code;
Open secret

Grassy flowers
Humble affirmations;
Perennial song

Stray voices call
In these woods;
Bird song melody

Romantic ideas
Dehydrated fruits;
Winter sonata

Self-made home movie
Unknown stars;
Awkwardly famous

Drunken moon - 2 haiku

[too late for the contest deadline, I guess, but here they are]

lightning bolts rip sky
moon disappears to get drunk
stygian gloom settles

half-moon teases cloud
creeps through the sky drunkenly
light-dappled waters
