The Garden of Adonis Lyrics

If I kissed you in the morning
would you stay,
or like the mist here in the garden
would you slowly fade away,
and if the sunlight warmed your lonely brow
and made you smile,
would you be here by my side
and walk with me a while.

There's a blushing glow of roses,
A rouge upon your cheeks,
A hint of mellow sadness in your eyes
And a heart that wants to trust
In your smile.

I wish I knew
the secret to your love
I wish I knew
I wish I knew

Will you wander here with me
and let's just share the day.
Who knows, perhaps we'll find our way.

If I kissed you in the morning
would you stay,
or like the mist here in the garden
would you slowly fade away.

Blame Game

You’re so devoted to all your grudges,
You cherish them like they're a prize;
You hold them with pride on your pedestal
Bursting with bliss as your relationships die.

Next time you frame everyone's mistakes
And hang them right above their head,
You should hang up a mirror as well
And take a good look at yourself instead.

You love to play the blame game
So let's play another round-
What's wrong- are you too ashamed
To turn your finger around?

You're so foolish to expect anybody
To respect a narcissistic point of view;
Within your childish perception the lens
Is solely focused on you, you, you, and you.

Next time you frame everyone’s mistakes
And hang them right above their head,
You should hang up a mirror as well
And take a good, long look at yourself instead.

You love to play the blame game
So let's play another round-
What's wrong- are you too ashamed
To turn your finger around?

Yeah, you love to play the blame game
So let's play another round-
What's wrong- are you too ashamed
To turn your finger around?

This Song is for my Mother

This song is for my mother
Let her hear me cry
I couldn’t bring myself to write it
‘Til this darkened day arrived
A song about old promises
Made so long ago
Created and cremated
Ashes of the words I spoke

Long separated by the miles
Distanced from her golden smiles
Memory of a mother
Shared my dreams and really cared

Long separated by the miles
Distanced from her golden smiles
Mama…
I know I wasn’t there……

For you

Would have placed
A magic carpet
‘neath your weak and shaky legs

Would have raised
A strong west wind
Let you breathe with ease again

Would have bribed
God’s venal angels
Come and soothe your endless pain

Would have vanquished
All the demons
And bring peace to you again

Be the child
I never knew
In a land
We won’t grow old

Be the light
I always loved
Warmed my dark
And lonely soul

Be the girl
Playing games
In a world
The sun won’t set

Be the laughter
Calms my heart
I never will forget
I won’t forget, won’t forget

This song is for my mother
Let her hear me cry
Couldn’t bring myself to write it
‘Til this darkened day arrived
Song about old promises
Made so long ago
Created….cremated
Ashes of the words I spoke

I broke my promises, oh mama
Now you’ve gone away
I’m broken
Drowning in the pain each day

I’m drowning…drowning...drowning…drowning

This song is for my mother
Let her hear me…….

The First Kiss or That Darn Ann Landers

Son of a gun we were still young;
only 15 years gone by.
You were the first my kissing bubble to burst,
and for you, I think so was I.
I wanted to start putting other parts
of our bodies in the field of play;
But you stopped it instead as you paused and read
what Ann Landers had written to say:

Keep your petting on the outside, keep your tongues inside your mouth,
Keep your hands north of the border, don’t let them travel south.
There’s no use in trying to rush things and ruin the rest of your life,
So just hold his hands and hug him until you’re man and wife.

You stuck to your creed in spite of my plea,
and I didn’t want to press you;
So your hand I would hold and my tongue I would fold,
even though I want to undress you.
Late at night my conscience I’d fight,
still awake in my lonely bed;
Thinking of you and what I would do
if these words weren’t still stuck in my head:

Keep your petting on the outside, keep your tongues inside your mouth,
Keep your hands north of the border, don’t let them travel south.
There’s no use in trying to rush things and ruin the rest of your life,
So just hold his hands and hug him until you’re man and wife.

I followed your rules, played it cool
for the first ten to twenty dates;
But by the end of the year to me it was clear
we wouldn’t be tempting our fate.
So we parted our ways; ending our days
to see other people instead;
As I set forth looking of course
for a girl who hadn’t read:

Keep your petting on the outside, keep your tongues inside your mouth,
Keep your hands north of the border, don’t let them travel south.
There’s no use in trying to rush things and ruin the rest of your life,
So just hold his hands and hug him until you’re man and wife.

More than thirty years have disappeared;
For me two wives and four kids.
And as for you, I hear it’s true,
that getting married you never did.
I’ll never forget and never regret
That first kiss where we both did live;
And though I did slander poor ole Ms. Landers
to my daughter this advice I now give.

Keep your petting on the outside, keep your tongues inside your mouth,
Keep your hands north of the border, don’t let them travel south.
There’s no use in trying to rush things and ruin the rest of your life,
So just hold his hands and hug him until you’re man and wife.

Casarah's Soup Party

I went to a garden party, where all the soupers came
They didn't recognize me from my avatar, only from my name.
And those who have only pictures of flowers or of bugs
We sure did enjoy giving them a lot of kisses and hugs.

Cause we all write now, we verse our stanzas well
We can't write for everyone, but we get to write ourselves

Soupers came for many miles, all the poets were there
Peter brought Vera, there was some magic in the air
And over in the garden, to the toad's surprise
Jan stood in Stan's shoes hiding in his disguise

Cause we all write now, we verse our stanzas well
We can't write for everyone, but we get to write ourselves

Lott-in-dah-dah-dah, lot-in-dah-dah-dah.

The music was lyrics the poets have all posted
And wine and champagne were drunk when we toasted
Said hello to Arthur, for he is one of the three
When he told his dirty limericks, it was time to leave

Cause we all write now, we verse our stanzas well
We can't write for everyone, but we get to write ourselves

Lot-dah-dah-dah (lot-dah-dah-dah) lot-in-dah-dah-dah.

Someone opened the bedroom door and found the Poet D.
Writing verse and greeting new poets, being nice as can be
If you go to Casarah's party be ready to stay up all night
We will dance and write, with all our might, for poetry is our right

Cause we all write now, we verse our stanzas well
We can't write for everyone, but we get to write ourselves

Lot-dah-dah-dah (lot-dah-dah-dah) lot-in-dah-dah-dah.

Cause we all write now, we verse our stanzas well
We can't write for everyone, but we get to write ourselves

Asylum Bound

I'm not really sure how to explain
This strange feeling with my feeble brain-
It's driving me a new kind of insane.

If I believed in love, then in love I would be.
This bitter, cold heart is set ablaze inside me
Just hearing your name- I melt at the sound.
Without you my dear, I'd be asylum bound.

I'm not really sure how to explain
This madness taking over my brain-
It's driving me a new kind of insane.

Well, I'm not quite sure I can complain
About the thoughts of you that consume my brain-
They're driving me a good kind of insane.

If I believed in love, then in love I would be.
This bitter, cold heart is set ablaze inside me
Just hearing your name- I melt at the sound.
Without you my dear, I'd be asylum bound.

If I believed in love, then in love we would be.
You set this bitter, cold heart ablaze inside me.
I only feel sane when you come around-
Without you my dear, I'll be asylum bound.

No, I'm not quite sure how to explain
This strange new feeling with my feeble brain-
But my dear, you drive me perfectly insane.

LOVE STORY

LOVE STORY
The breeze is in my hair. The moon is gleaming behind me. The love I feel is everlasting. Cadence of my soul. Show me your happiness Share, my love. Laugh with me Our destiny is mixed with pleasure. Our essence treasured. Come walk with me in the garden. Alive - Let's reach our ultimate…high. Smile, darling smile Kiss me with your eyes. Forever we are. Champagne we drink To toss our uniting. You feel my sylph A fulfilled spirit. This journey succumbs me. I am free for you to love. Embrace your ideas Let the breeze come in. Dance to the ecstasy. Release all your fears. Capture this time As our minds, intertwine. Laugh with me Inflection of my soul. Show me your happiness. Share, my love. A majestic dynasty Our empire In time Now! Here we stand You and I forever. No obstacles have formed. You are my one and only. Woman, smile Kiss me with your eyes. Forever we are. Thrive - Let's reach our ultimate…highs. This is our life... Together This is our existence... Forever Ardor love Justified by God Come walk with me in the garden As we write our love story.

Scars

(Yes- these song lyrics are mega cliché, but- I wrote them for someone dear to my heart; therefore, they are Soup worthy).

Oh, you’re doing everything you can
When you’re trying to become a better man-
But these demons keep on holding you back.

Yeah, you’re doing everything you can
When nothing goes quite as you plan-
But I know you’ll get back on the right track.

When it all seems too far gone,
And you feel like you can’t keep going on-
Just remember this my friend:
The hardships only make us stronger in the end.

The past doesn’t define who we are,
Even if it leaves us with these scars.
No, the past can’t define who we are,
It can only leave us with some scars.

Oh, you’re doing everything you can
To attain something so much bigger than
The life that you’ve been given.

Yeah, you’re doing everything you can
When nothing goes quite as you plan-
But I know you’ll never give in

When it all seems too far gone,
And you feel like you can’t keep going on-
‘Cause you’ll remember this my friend:
These hardships only make you stronger in the end.

The past doesn’t define who we are,
Even if it leaves us with these scars.
No, the past can’t define who we are,
It can only leave us with some scars.

Though a broken road has your feet glued to the ground,
And it seems all hope is nowhere to be found-
Just remember this my friend:
All these broken things can mend…

‘Cause the past doesn’t define who we are,
Even if it leaves us with these scars.
No, the past can’t define who we are,
It can only leave us with some scars.

Jesus Christ Is Coming Back Down

To the tune of "Santa Clause Is Coming To Town"

You better look up,
prepare for His sight.
The Lord will come back
some day or some night.
Jesus Christ Is Coming Back Down.

He's making a list.
He's paid the great price.
Who's going in route
to His paradise?
Jesus Christ Is Coming Back Down.

He sees you when you're breathing.
He knows you need His grace.
He knows that we have all been bad,
but He died to take our place.

With bright Seraphim and bright Cherubim,
Trumpy trumpets, and drummy drum drums,
Jesus Christ Is Coming Back Down.

He sees you when you're weeping.
He offers His embrace.
He knows you like nobody else,
yet He loves you anyway.

You better not doubt.
You wanna know why?
Your life could end soon.
There's no second try.

I Forgot To Forget You

(An old country song that I just wrote)

I Forgot To Forget You

V1

You called me on the phone last night
Like all the times before.
Your message said I’m sorry dear,
For walkin’ out the door.

You said that you forgave me
For being so unkind,
You said you knew I still loved you,
And true love’s hard to find.

Instrumental bridge

V2
I wasn’t home the time you called,
I’d gone out with some friends,
‘Cause just like all the times before
I knew you’d make amends.

But this time darlin’ I was through,
I left without regret,
‘Til somewhere near my fifteenth beer
When I forgot to forget.

Chorus
Yea, I forgot to forget you,
I didn’t mean to upset you,
I know I was hot
And I hurt you a lot,
But tonight I forgot to forget you.

V3 (spoken verse)
So I woke up to find you there,
Sleeping by my side,
And all the bruises on your face
Just made me cry inside.

I guess it’ll always be the same,
Just like the day I met you,
as long as you keep coming back
I’ll always forget to forget you.

Chorus: Repeat

My darlin’ I’m so sorry ‘bout
The way I treat you bad,
And if you’ll give me one more chance,
I’ll get back what we had.

Cause in my heart I know I’m not
The guy that you first met
And if I can, I’ll be a man
Who’ll love you, and never forget.

Chorus
