We met in 8th grade...We became great friends and
She Dared Me To Write my First Poem January 21, 1948...we were both 16...I on January 9th and she on January 20th same year.
"I bet you can't write the second verse to this poem!" she said to me in sassy manner...
She shoves a note book page to me with a scribble in her handwriting.
The title was "I Love To Dance!"
How absurd I thought, after all, I was a "singer!"
Without hesitation I took the paper and began to write..."I'd love to be held close in your arms where only I could share all your charms..."
I followed with a few more line of "poetic bliss", to my thinking, and her respone was..."How did you do that?"
I replied, hands on hips, "Well you wrote the first so I wrote the second!"
Eloise replied in evident astonishment, "Girl, mine was from a song sheet!"
We fell out laughing as any 16 year olds would do.
Of course, I've written thousands of poems since then and I often say, "It's like breathing to me!".
My friend Eloise will be laid to rest tomorrow, March 16, 2013...Such a sad song for me. We stayed in touch over the years and often still laughed about that dare for me to write a second verse...Who knew?!
My heart is filled with the sorrow of Eloise's demise
Yet I sing still

A Poem to love
To day I am placing here a great Hindi poem of a renowned poet
Translated by me as a poem which I hope would touch your mind
And heart intensely.
From the day I read this poem in between a play its wordings
Have touched me very deeply.
Since the poem is a beautiful piece of poetry by a great Indian
Hindi writer, poet, dramatist and story writer I am trying to
Bring its translation as much I could make from my mind without
Claiming that this is the best.
Brief background story for poetry soup lovers to judge the poem
In light in the light of its real beauty:
The heroine who was in the age of sweet sixteen was in love
With someone very intensely, but his actual lover ask her to
Show her love for someone else for obtaining a greater result
For the sake of his motherland and the heroine tries to love
Some one else, who asked a price for the same and gave only
Pains and agonies to her. But, when she sees her actual love
Her hearts is willing to welcome him and how- you will see
In this beautiful poem:
Translation of the poem of Jai Shanker Prasad a great Hindi poet.
Jaishankar Prasad (January 30, 1889 – January 14, 1937),
one of the most famous figures in modern Hindi literature
“Intoxicated by the wine of youth, in the age of sixteen
She cared only to love
And to whom she should give her heart,
She had no desire to know
And the one to whom she sold her precious heart,
Was asking a price for the same
The greedy even took away
The only treasure of pains and memories from her
She felt dusty storms were rising in her heart
And her love was coming totally unaware,
She thought to sprinkle water running from her eyes to
Make the path slippery
So that her love may walk slowly
And she may behold her love, a little more
The longing of her life may get fulfilled
And her hopes may get a base to stay a little more
She knew all the steams of the world would be running from her eyes
Making it more difficult to recognize her face
As the deep sea in her eyes would be splashing water on her face”
Only translation is made by me and the poem in Hindi belongs to
Late Jai Shanker Prasad.

Just thinking of you here tonight from afar
As every time were apart I realize
Never will I be without you my sweet
Ultimately you're coursing through my mind
Always in my heart, with each beat
Rarely out of reach, or view of your eyes
You'll always be with me no matter where we are

(1 January 2013 – 12:01AM)
By this first day of the year 2013
I am asking anyone to forgive me if I have things done that hurt you.
I was sudden with the firecrackers
Sounds of bullets flying in the air
This is becoming a culture
That by the end and start of the year there shall be having a gun fire
Is this so not to put a gun as inutile?
I have no new year’s resolution at hand
But I wanted to do my best to change whatever things needed to be changed.
Oh God please witness my changes to manifest in my entire being
from good to very good, from ordinary to extra ordinary and from evil to no evil.
Let me love memories of 2012 that I have
Please forgive me God through everyone’s forgiveness.
I love everyone and someone.
Thank you God!

It's time for me to change
People repeat their pastimes
And make the same promise each year
But it's time for ME to change
For that I must arrange
My goals in a smarter way
They must always stay:
In order for me to change
Happy new year, I hear quite oft
It won't be happy until I make it so
My actions will determine the year
This time my efforts will show

My love for you will never fade
You locked the door; my bed I’ve made
A face in the crowd reminds me: so you
The smile at tilt; the voice that lilt
The auburn hair; the skin so fair
My tender heart skips a beat: Hallelujah
Your eyes held mine, a magic spell
The pain I felt was a pleasing hell
No one could e'ver compare to you
You touched my face with your hand
The time all round came to a stand
From my soul I moaned: Hallelujah
Love’s tender touch now in the past
Around I’d see: Nothing e'er last
The things I did could’ve blew’ you
The cars I drove at such high speed
The fast life our friends would lead
We did not understand the Hallelujah
I tempted you with a bit of *snow
You didn’t at first want to know
If y' didn’t know how I’d show you
The surreal dream showed on your face
Everything moved at a faster pace
You shouted my name: Hallelujah!
You pulled away then from me
I was begging for you please to see
What this was doing to us; to you
All that mattered was the crave
Your life given over to a rave
You’ve shut me out in this Hallelujah
Your beauty faded before my eyes
The pain you caused with all your lies
I couldn’t bear to see what we did to you
Your dreams had fallen and paranoid
The reality, now null and void
A syringe, your only Hallelujah
On our true love I will always dine
To’ve turned back to another time
To happy times I loved and knew you
For bringing you into this ruin
Sorry! This was all my doin’
For me there will be no more Hallelujah.

"You say I took the name in vain
I don't even know the name
But if I did, well, really, what's it to you?
There's a blaze of light in every word
It doesn't matter which you heard
The holy or the broken Hallelujah"

I was cold,
callous, sometimes mean.
Keeping my feelings unseen
in the deep freeze of winter.
This shield of ice no one could splinter.
Why would a man show his heart,
something no one saw,
feelings nothing but a flaw.
In the middle of this life.
You appeared walking in the door,
lit up the room like never before.
Why would you notice me?
Your too amazing too believe.
Looking at me was just the start.
Through this icy layer you saw,
something in me that was a draw.
It didn’t take long
too realize what I was seeing.
This shell starts melting.
The sight of your beauty
making it feel balmy.
You soft touch warms my heart.
It makes these feelings raw
How I love January’s thaw
These days, no more icy shell!
You dug me out of my mess.
With an open heart I confess;
Love for you I’ll never withdraw.
How I love January’s thaw!!

Another year turns over, people look to see
just what the coming year will mean for you and me.
Tomorrow's worries aren't here, and yesterday's are passed.
Daylight's your new blessing, but it's really burning fast.
The seasons change so quickly, now that we're growing old.
"Seize the day my son", seems I was always told.
You cannot live life over, and you cannot take it back,
so make a first impression, be a leader of the pack.
We hurry every day, never noticing the minutes
flying by so quickly, time has no sense of limits.
Just talking all the while, we have such tales to tell.
If only every now and then we grab a rose to smell.
Take time for those you love, and those who love you, too.
For tomorrow some of them might not be here for you.
Teach your children honesty and show them some good deeds.
Because love will never flourish if we never plant the seeds.

Everything is turning to ice
To cold to remember
Nice sunny reminders of summer
Silk chilled feathers
And love letters
Lovers climbing ladders
Falling heart tumbling disasters
Hurt follows after burnt chapters
Remember what matters
Everything is turning December
Everything is turning to ice
To cold to remember
Nice to forget those burning chapters
Turn disasters into loving reminders
Of things that matter
I cherish these love letters
I write with a silk chilled feather
Talk to you later

We were in a car,
you and me
crunched uncomfortably together,
three people tied
veins of aching blood.
And my knees curled at my chest
in the middle of the backseat,
in profile against
It wasn’t raining
perhaps that would have been
She didn’t speak
only gave me backwards looks
as if to say…
oh, I don’t know what she’d say
if she could say anything to me:
in the dream,
she spoke only to you.
And there I am,
sweating in the backseat,
tears piercing the corners of my eyes,
and I can’t say

I do not know?
a few meeting here and there
a few kind words shown with care
each passing night of the summer
finally to find what i discovered
a few day dreams and fantasies
a few poetic themes and wishes to be
that simply vanished i could not see
but kindness always kept me hoping
the few times i tested my bravery
searching for that certian slavery
to give my heart and will
hoplessness could not kill
januarys cold winter night
found her sitting on summers site
joyful in that special mood
that extra nice that was extra smooth
she was surprized when i serenaded her
you should have seen her
wrap arms around my shoulders
i felt myself getting bolder and bolder
she kissed my cheek she kissed my neck
and took a moment to put on lip stick
we spoke of love and it's terrible ways
and how we made it through those uneasy days
who knows when we fell in love
maybe before then and it was a summer love
we held hands and made our confessions
though few the cold hours a wonderful lesson
we said "i love you's" that i knew were real
nothing except myself to make her feel
i finally found what i thought was forever lost
away to love someone and equally share the cost
we parted with "i love you " and the kiss of bliss
and with wondering and surprize that nite i missed
reaching to hold her from one block away
all day my thought of her stays and stays
walking home the next day yet colder still
passing by her house my wished it willed
she came out wishing me well
she had to be waiting of this i can tell
she hugged me and i asked for a kiss
forever on the lips and i will never miss
just for this moment who could ask for more than this
twentyfour hours of cold january bliss

Eleven months is too long a wait to greet,
Hello January ! At last you are here,
I was zealous to receive you this new year!
Some shiny pearls of intense merriment,
Amused throughout the year and gave a blow,
Let fill your heart and the face glow!
Some new resolutions to be made with you,
Few unkept promises solid as a bundle of water,
Must be kept and shared with you !
Some missing strands of mission unaccomplished,
Still ought to be executed this month,
Anticipate an appreciation from you!
Few events the source of unhappiness,
Though seem difficult to be forgotten,
Let them die earlier to you!
Hello! A brand new January ,
You are getting younger year by year,
I yearn for a close encounter with you!!

Like A Star
By: Sami LaRose
I look upon the stars and count them
One by one;
Number by number;
All of different shapes, sizes, forms and even different colors.
The encases of the nights air brushes upon my check,
Reviling the cold January air against me
It all feels so calming, cool and relaxed
But then we’ve got to look back at different points in time and think back,
What did I do there
Was it a wrong choice or was it a right one
Do I know what I’m doing or don’t I
So many different question, and yet so many unanswered,
Sometimes life relives to us in different ways, shapes, forms, sizes, and colors, just like the stars in the night sky do
So see, we are really no different from nature it’s self
Because nature is a star
And you are like a star
The one shinning brightest so far.

I do not know?
Our time has come
I guess this is the end of our forever
I can remember us as kids
a time when our love was real
when it was strong
when forever was meant to be filled with happiness
Now look where we are today
Never did I imagine our love would fail us
I always thought it would keep us strong
How we lie to our selves believing we can make it through this
So I guess it has come to the point where we have to stop and just walk away
all the pain I shall carry with me know this is it

I do not know?
She's a pack-up and lander,
Like the geese and the gander,
She's a Roma,
On her own-a,
In a two wheeled house,
Involved with no weak willed spouse,
O honey! I've no money but I would be your mouse!
Snow White, fibre glass, heavenly abode,
Look real close, I'm a frog not a toad,
Look real close, look real close before you decide to hit the road,
Look real close if you really have to go,
Life is the ripples from the sound of the gun,
The flash of the barrel - the old, the young,
Always shining like a puddle of light,
Twisting and twirling,
Delving and diving,
Like a mermaid in hiding,
You're still surviving and thriving,
The barking from your dog on a rope,
Caused me to slip on the soap,
As we kissed in your shower,
On the Millenium hour,
I couldn't tell if she was sad,
But I had come from my lillipad,
And could leave glad,
And when we pulled the last party popper,
We parted, me with a hop-a,
I thought she will probably soon be hitting the road,
Through that perspex window she glowed,
As I turned, I noticed her hearing aid was off,
The fireworks rose and went "Bang", "Nee" and "Boff",
She hates loud noises and it was Y2K,
She left soon after like the mist of love's spray,
