The Eternal Tree

I am Alive Forever and always Essence Rebirth Renewal
I have earth to ground me I have wind to move me I have fire to cleanse
my spirit I have rain to quench my thirst for growth
I have sun to enlighten me feed me I am my own mother
and an extension of the whole I am Earth wind
rain sun fire I am as old as life and I am as young
as time I am shelter to those who seek me I am a bird a flower and the breath
of the earth itself I am exactly where I want to be I am life
I am first and last the beginning and the end I am one from many
I am what I am I live I grow and I die. I am Reborn unto myself
                                                          I am the great circle
                                                           My limbs know no
                                                           Boundaries; while
                                                           My leaves whisper
                                                           The one truth of the
                                                           Whole through the
                                                           Seasons changing
                                                            Colors that I wear
                                                            Upon my heart's
                                                            Sleeve, I'm home
                                                           To Earth Mother’s
                                                           Melodious Life; I
                                                           Sing for the whole
                                                         World to hear - trees

Frosted Panes - re-post

When winter paints those frosty ferns on my windowpane
I find myself a little girl up on your lap again
In that old house, where you wove that coloured tapestry
With all the glorious memories of your life upon the sea

With weathered palm so deeply etched with every season past
You rubbed a porthole in the center of the frosted glass
Where outside in splendour lie a winter-wonderland
As halos rose above your head from a pipe bowl in your hand

And there upon a rocking chair as smoke rings filled the air
We rocked across a sea of dreams wind tangled in our hair
To lands I’d never been before we stepped upon those shores
And through your eyes I saw each one and still I wanted more

The morning passed in dreams between two pairs of eyes of green
As the world outside held its breath in a sea of snowy cream
And when the chill of winter melted from the windowpane
The whistling kettle on the stove brought us home again

You held my hand and looked at me with that twinkle in your eyes
And told me you would be my Captain 'til the day I died
So when winter paints those frosty ferns on my windowpane
I find myself a little girl up on your lap again

In loving memory of my Dear Papa 'Captain James George'.

Authors Note:
When I was a child of three, I Went to live for a year with my Grandparents in Nova
Scotia. At that time my Grandfather was a retired Sea Captain of a Three Mast
Schooner. He had spent most of his life at sea, taking lumber and coal to New
Brunswick and various ports in the U.S. and in the winter months, would carry on to
pick-up and deliver cargo in the West Indies. Although my time with him was short,
the memories we shared have comforted me through-out the years.

Fragments of Shell

Tossed upon blank beaches
like men without souls,
shell fragments littering the sand.
Each broken shell once could sing
lyrics lilting of glories past,
tales spun in Dresden colors,
soft, shimmering memories -
blissful days beneath shining seas.

In broken men who walk the earth,
vignettes I view . . .
shattered beauty every one.

The Pirates Life

He stands upon the salty, slippery deck,
Yelling yaargh matey ,
with a halfhearted pirate drawl.
He's not to impressed with himself,
not an eyepatch or wooden leg,
not even a hooked claw.
The parrot on his shoulder,
is a wannabee,
a sparrow that fell from the Crowsnest,
from high up above.
It has no quips ,or spikes,
or pirate quotes,
just nesting on his shoulder
with birdly kind of love.
Aye captain the crew responds,
snapping to their chores.
Tend the wheel ,lash the mainsail,
take the soundings
 less we hit a reef.
The sea going life is not for every man,
walking the plank,storms and rickets.
Crabs in your knickers ,
really give you grief.
Aah but when the wind fills the sails to bursting,
yards of canvas strain to be free.
And the ropes play ,sea going music
of a tension melody.
A song that captures
every young buccaneers heart ,
and soul and fancy.
For the music of the wanderers life,
an endless expanse of blue,
bravehearts and fearless men find,
quite a bit too chancy.
Black Beard,Yellow Beard,
the famous Captain Blood,
were all fearless pirates of their day.
He truly knows that he can be,
a great one too.
If he could ever find that bleeping map,
and escape this landlocked bay.

The Life I Love

(In the words of a happy little mermaid)

I slide through silky cerulean seas
Silently swimming wherever I please;
I glide through water with buttery ease,
With skin that is smoother than ivory keys.

There are secret gardens I love to explore
Far below the world on the ocean floor,
Where are colors no man has seen before
Hidden in an underwater treasure store.

Deeper down in the sea, where I go on a whim,
The light is so far it is grayish and dim;
There the masts of shipwrecks rise dark and slim,
And coins of gold line passages I swim.

On tropical islands with flowing waves
I play in uncharted, mysterious caves,
Or nap in the sunlight's golden rays
In a silent shoal on balmy days.

I pick pretty flowers to put in my hair
And splash in the shallows with never a care;
The droplets shine like diamonds in the air,
Rising and falling like a crystal flare.

When the day is over, the dolphins sing mass
And the sun sets fire on the leaping bass,
Then I lie in a bed much clearer than glass
And pray a sweet dream for this mermaid lass.

The Devil's Tide

I looked up at a silver moon
Peering through a cloud of misty gloom
As we sailed across the Atlantic Sea
That fateful night in June
And as I stood upon the bow
A furrow crossed my troubled brow
When I saw a dying star fall from the sky
As the wind out of the north
Began to cry
'Twas then with fearful heart
I came at last to realize
That we were sailing
On a wave of ill-tidings
Known as 'The Devil's Tide'
For no omen of the sea
Brought more fear than thee
A fallen star - a silver moon
Together in the month of June
If legend true would surely bring us doom
So with no trace of land in sight
We sailed onward through the night
I - the Captain 'Louie Lou'
With my faithful crew
Aboard the 3 mast schooner 'Angel - of the Blue'
On canvas wings we flew
Upon the wailing wind that blew
Then suddenly a hush of malaise
Crushed the summer night
Filling all the crew with dreadful fright
As all the stars in heaven lost their light
And the silver moon dipped completely out of sight
Leaving us to drift without guidance
To our unknown plight
An eerie sound began to roll out of the west
Growing louder and louder as we held our breath
Until it was upon us and the ship began rise
As we looked in horror into the Devil's eye
As the Angel of the Blue began to fly
Up the Devil's breast she climbed 20 fathoms high
One by one the Angel's wings were torn away
As she fought to save us from the Devil's rage
Screams of horror falling from her timber sides
As the crew fell into the Devil's tide
And I - tethered to the helm - watched them die
As we climbed even higher into the Devil's eye
And as the Angel's body creaked and cracked
We finally scaled the crest and rode upon the Devil's back
Just before I fainted and my world went black
I woke up in the morning high on a mountain side
Never knowing just how I had survived
knowing only that my Angel and my crew had died
Many years have come and gone since then
And I am forever haunted by each and every one of them
My faithful crew and my mighty 'Angel of the Blue'
I see their faces in my dreams
As I awaken to their screams
Wishing, too - that I had died
But someone had to live
To tell the tale of the 'Devil's Tide'.

Sea In Life

It’s a wonderful feeling as you gladly air your sweet melody The canticle of your ebbs is heard from your sweet glee Children shriek with laughter as they feast in haste Adults lay down to feel your scent and enjoy the rest. The blue sky is the reflection of your innate beauty The Mighty Creator had laid you down there for everybody Your smiles spark in different hue of blue and green But at snap of fingers, your splendor has been stolen The clear blue sky draws its huge curtain on your sight As the spilled oil tinges and oozes its ominous color of the night The sun sets in the middle of the day, does he go and ask for help? Scream is heard when you’re left alone in yelp The dawn has to come; yet, you’re still down there and helpless But waves rise up collecting your strength which scattered into pieces Your calmness echoes in hope as you keep yourself in prayer That someone will take you out from an odious nightmare Soon you’ve a glimpse of light from afar, just out there The sun’s vigilant call lighting up the hearts of every scavenger Shining brightly once more as they work on amelioration in short range You realize that sadness and pains are transient in this world of change The sun finally opens the curtain for a clearer and brighter sky The scavengers work hand-in-hand, in starvation they’re afraid to die Waves move towards the shore shaking their ears like cute puppies Taking care of sea creatures and throwing all unwanted wastes. The Mighty Creator is so good, He always let the sun shines again, Through prayers and strong faith, hope will be strengthen And when humans, the stewards work with nature in perfect harmony A brighter tomorrow comes in His Divine Mercy. When The Sun Sets

When the sun sets, The stars shine with no regrets. Darkness fills the air, The moon gives light with every care. The darkness is easier to walk through, Every light shining is so pure and true. Guidence forever are the stars in the sky, With them we find our places lifted so high. Forever is the moon to cast light upon us all, We become encouraged to stand firm and tall. The stars shine with no regrets, When the sun sets.

When the sun sets, Shining its powerful light it never forgets. Though light fades to darkness, It comes about with alertness. Shadows before the eye can see, The little shining light is enough to set us free. Sometimes we are afraid to walk alone in the dark, From which we were given a caustic remark. Guidance Forever is the changing of dark and light, It helps us to be strong and make one last fight. Forever are the shadows lurking at every turning point, If we give in it is ourselves we disappoint. Shining its powerful light it never forgets, When the sun sets.

When the sun sets, The sky is filled with wonderful colors that the ocean reflects. All the animals of the sea, Come forth creating a musical harmony. The waves crash upon the shore, Washing up new sand to the ocean floor. Its a beautiful site to see, The ocean sounds are calmingly free. Who's to say the ocean isn't peaceful get away, Its a calming place to relax and stay. The sky is filled with wonderful colors that the ocean reflects, When the sun sets.

Many distant sea shores
Watch me silently
As I am drifting through the sea

There is no fear of drowning
Uncertainty shakes me though

To find the shore of happiness
That's the thought I hold

When this journey ends?
The wait feels in vain

Drowning is the easiest way
Probably to eternal peace
Pain won't exist and me neither

Drifting through the sea
My body gets sore
And I travel from one Poem to another
Without reaching the sea shore

The Homeplace

Here further down the hillside slope
Down close to the creek with hope

My husband bought a house, land
Fenced in and made many plans

Subdued the land to cow pasture
And planted a garden, fruit trees sure

Fathered another child to call him sir
The creek seemed to like the stir

Enjoyed the children for a little while___
Loved them so that it made her smile

Today she loves grandchildren the same
No girls there are in frills ___tame

The creek keeps on flowing to the sea
The land is mostly stripped of trees

(This is my adaptation of Robert Frost's poem "The Birthplace". I hope that it does not insult
his work.)

Joy of Life

Open the windows.
Open the doors.
Let the glorious sunshine in.
Remove the dust.
From the floors.

Listen, the birds are singing.
A happy, happy tune.
In April, May and June.
Live life to the full.
It's never dull.

Feel the vibrations.
And the thrill.
Over whelming you.
Stirring your soul.
Lifting you up.
To where you belong.
Begin the day with a song.

Life is wonderful and a joy.
It's there for you to enjoy.
To the country side.
And the sea., I go.
I hope to meet you there, you know..

I feel I want to shout out loud.
To thank, whoever made it so.
Made nature grow.
The sun to glow.
The flowers to bloom.
Come out of your lonely room.
I hope to see you soon.

Ever Turning Circle

In winter’s white, as angels cry
for early spring to warm the wind,
to bring to life with gentle sigh,
in love, the bitter frost has thinned.

For early spring to warm the wind,
at Valentine’s romantic calls,
in love, the bitter frost has thinned,
where dancers twirl amid stone walls.

At Valentine’s romantic calls,
rebirth of nature’s light divine,
where dancers twirl amid stone walls,
and blossoms pastel shades recline.

Rebirth of nature’s light divine,
when day equals the hours of night,
and blossoms pastel shades recline,
to hail the queen of May in light.

When day equals the hours of night,
a summer’s sun will come to play,
to hail the queen of May in light,
we chant and sing along the way.

A summer’s sun will come to play,
so life can grow as gods decreed,
we chant and sing along the way,
with warmth and light our hunger feed.

So life can grow as gods decreed,
the rays of sun on seeds we’ve sown,
with warmth and light our hunger feed,
the wealth of harvest is our own.

The rays of sun on seeds we’ve sown,
in autumn breeze that chills the heat,
the wealth of harvest is our own,
as gold and red belies our feet.

In autumn breeze that chills the heat,
a year that ends with blessed Samhain,
as gold and red belies our feet,
the call of Ancient’s name to reign.

A year that ends with blessed Samhain,
to bring to life with gentle sigh,
the call of Ancient’s name to reign,
in winter’s white, as angels cry.

Sea of forgotten dreams

Cold and dark, the eyes of the depths
glaring at the stars above.
Few dare descend the steps
which reach down to oblivion’s cove.
Heavy, the desire for truth,
like the chains dragging my body further down
unto fate unknown.

Beyond recompense, lies the ruin
sunken to forbidden ground,
now home only to the strangest of creations
and catacomb to the drowned slaves of history.
Will all memories be as this one day?
Ghosts that haunt the corpses of humanity’s ambition?

Black are the bells that once chimed to announce omen.
Buried are the thoughts that walked my mind.
Broken are the tables where ideas once feasted.
Bound are the hopes, eaten by preying sharks of doubt.

Weighing down, the garments choke the breath of life.
There, where insanity was sane, beneath facade’s streams
lies truth, in the sea of forgotten dreams.

Trust Life

Trust Life
Don't let life pass you by,
Waiting for a better day, a better chance.
Live now!
Believe in the Good in people,
Trust Life.
Never walk in anyone's shadow,
Let the light guide you,
Feel the spirit of the universe
In the golden power of the sunlight,
As it gently caresses you face.
Open your eyes to the beauty around you,
Take your strengh from nature,
It is there for the taking.
It will fill you with power
To share with the ones that need it.
Look for the beauty you posess inside,
This is the Life you waited for.
Trust Life- and you could not wish
for more!

As I lay at night, across my bed,
Thoughts roaming back to you.
I dream about what lies ahead,
Your smile, your eyes, sea blue....

Thoughts roaming back to you,
My love grows deeper still.
Your smile, your eyes, sea blue,
Brighten up my world so real....

My love grows deeper still,
With words you choose so sweet.
Brighten up my world so real,
You make my life complete...

With words you choose so sweet,
How could I deny your love?
You make my life complete,
Your a gift from God above....

How could I deny your love?
After all that we have shared.
Your a gift from God above,
Even though, we are so scared....

After all that we have shared,
Each day I love you more.
Even though, we are so scared,
These feelings we can't ignore....

Each day I love you more,
Recalling sweet words you've said.
These feelings we can't ignore,
As I lay at night, across my bed....

My prints are visible for now as I press the soaked sand
Breathing in the cured sea air
I hear the silent roar of its mighty movement
Disobedient curves imbuing in an aquamarine blue
Rhythmic grains of tamed shells
So violently arranged in a thing of beauty along the beaten shore
One should feel powerless against its perimeter
As the constant ascension changes the beach slowly over time
So to do I feel an ever so mellow shift of mind
The sea is an ever so predictable place
With an unpredictable aim
Every bit true for life

Nothing Remains

My fingers grasp at the void, empty-handed...
My heart lingers at hollowness, emptied out...
reminiscent when time got wrinkled, worn
when night and day left,
and only nothing remained.

The embers of my burning words
wither into the palest of ashes,
it makes me think of dead skin cells—
they are nothing but dust
sloughed off, then piled up into dusty corners, forgotten.
Minuteness discarded, a lover’s crumbling skeleton.

A noise barrage invades my soul’s silence,
an onslaught of thought and reason—
A wailing, pounding, desert squall that drowns me,
shattering the dam of tranquility.

I plunge back into this abyss of loneliness.
Of course nobody’s there.
They have all been long gone.
And here I am, with only this vast void as my company.
It whispers, it screams
and echoes into my mind,
what they’ve all been saying all along,
that I brought this upon myself.

Maybe I did. Of course I did.
Of course I did. Maybe I did.

Back and forth, back forth it goes...

I seek sanctuary in dreams,
for it is only there that my sea of loneliness
becomes a sea of ecstatic happiness...
I seek sanctuary in dreams,
for it is only there that I am welcome.

Touch me Not! Noli me tangere.
Wake me not...

Silence has blocked your ears.

The shattering of my heart was unperceived,
so I am left alone to take extreme care of these countless shards.
I can’t afford to hurt anymore, as I have done to the others.
With my words. With my long-winding, droning and ever-boring words.
The death-inducing kind of boring.
And only nothing cared to remain.

I am left with no choice but to be one with this nothingness,
flow along its waves, imbibe it and become it. Nix.
Let me evaporate, let me join that cycle of seeming nothingness.
That nothing, that stark quiet before the storm.

Breathe deep into that void.
Inhale nothing.
Hear nothing. See nothing. Say nothing.

Then wait...

Can you feel me now?

As nothing touches you.

*** This was inspired from Catie’s “Nothing Remains”. In choosing this, in no
way am I saying that her poem needs improvement. It is brilliant as it is. I chose this poem of hers because it moved me and spoke to me. Thank you, Catie.

A Breakaway

22 June 2010

A Breakaway

For mankind has the power to think big
History puts them in the pedestal of their career
Aimless drifting until fatally engaged into drilling rig
Raised a surface at the heart of the sea to exploit oil on its frontier

Oil wells at the deepest sea-bed formed million years ago
Also a marine habitat that proliferate at the cold bottom
Rendezvous for waterfowl and aquatic mammals arrived apropos
To add spectacle to the blue water, as accustomed

The fresh water flowing in a cascade of sparks
The sea free access to an ocean while some in landlocked
Life on Earth comes in the seas and we proceed to embark
As ocean currents supply the heat energy round the clock

Many ritually unclean substances are passing into oceans
Adulterating the purity of water in its freshness
Oil spills from off-shore and tanker spread discoloration
Suffocating marine life and ingesting illness

Chronicling ecological cycle literally affect food chain
Stripping resistant from their organic structure and suffer
From the toxins of oil spill prevents water replenishment
Coating aquatic surface with stain holding tougher

A closer look are dying birds and aquatic mammals
Leaving a baleful mark on the waterways
Cleaning up the breakdown oil is costly and fatal
That I may see no more escalating sense of bad omen into the ocean’s forays

On the Ocean Waves

Echoing seas rise,
I settle in for the eve
on a boat of memories.
I float parallel
to the perilous breaking
of tides, crashing near the shore.
Unaware of risk,
I dream under starlit sky,
reflections of yesteryear.
Joyful days of youth
sparkle on the ocean waves
embracing me with their glow.
Rocked by endless sea,
each wave is a mystery
bearing life and aged secrets.
Divulging desires
and nature's rhythm of truth
into the depths of my soul.
Ev'ry starlit night,
you will find me here.
I am free, one with the sea.

The Island of Unlived Dreams

The ship left the dock but in the darkness and all alone
In the open seas she circled again and again
With no light to guide her along the way and her direction uncharted
She sadly returned back to the only security she’s ever known
And to the passengers not yet ready to be left alone
Though her journey short and unfulfilled
Hope still hangs in her midst that one day she will brave the rough waters
Long enough to find the Island Of Unlived Dreams

Night Breeze

Gazing at the stars
in a beautiful night sky,
she feels the silent wind
slowly passing by.

As the cool gentle breeze
caresses her skin,
it ruffles her dress
again and again.

As the waves from the ocean
cover the sand,
the wind sways her hair
as she brushes it with her hand.

She stands with a smile
in the light of the moon,
hoping the breeze
will come back soon.

Plockton - Wester Ross

The greatest holiday gift I ever received
Goes back so many, many years
Before my life became turmoiled
And before my tears for fears

I was a child like many out there
Torn, strewn and split of kin
Mother and father in differences
Confused at seven, wearing their same skin

For I was one of the lucky ones
To a Highland Estate I would go
It's on the west coast of Scotland
Where my holidays desired me so

Secretly I internally smiled
For a whisper of where I was heading
To live with a movie star hero
No longer my life was in dreading

We were picked up by a man so fine
His manners were an absolute joy
Regimental he was in his approach
To me, just a seven year old boy

We travelled through the village of Plockton
Crystal clear waters edged to it's shore
I knew from this very moment
Being here ebbed previous family sores

On entering his house I was in awe
Movie pictures came to my view
They were images of James Bond
At seven I was totally through

A voice called to me
Hey James! sit down and I'll tell you me
Still in circles in walking awe
This is what he told thee

My name is Patrick Dalzel Job
In the Second World War I served
But this recognition I bestow
Humbles me to it's deserve

This honour that's been given
Was blessed by a colleague in war
What desired Ian Fleming to be so striven
Possibly, what we were fighting for

We served on the same destroyer
Fighting to make the future free
His tribute, in his novels I became
James Bond, it's incredibly me

Not many seven year olds have stayed with James Bond.
This seven year old Scot's boy has, maybe I learnt?

Memories etched in the sand

Sifting warm sand
through my fingers,
shimmering fine grains
glitter my palm.
filled with life’s memories
of nut brown days
of summer.

A soft silk breeze
formed dunes
with our dreams
that summer
when we danced to the stars.
My heart laced yours
listening to the sea
undulating waves of emotion
as we kissed
on the velvet strand.

I still hear
the rhythm of the ocean.
Waves tumbling in unison,
a sweeping sound
gently caressing
as we lay silently
listening to sand
shifting over stone
to the faint chiming
of seashells.

My first love
a sea salted embrace
on a breast of sand.
The memories
forever held
in the sand
in glitter on my hand.

Albatross Wings

Feathered wings to slice the sky
leaving a cloud residue trail
Shadow the size of a dime on the water
blends into the waves as they sail
Perfume of ancients in salt crested waves
carried toward heavenly things
Rise up like fury to catch the next trip
on the back of the albatross wings.
Albatross flying like a bright white balloon
let loose from a child’s hand
So close to be captured but just far away
to be lost from our view where we stand.
A beacon of sea life, a voice in the wind
at attention and ready to dive
Feathers of flight, dormant by night
“till the waves crashing morning arrive.

The Owl and the PusyCat Sail

Together the Owl and the PusyCat were married
Then again sailed out over the deep blue seas
Searching forever for the great Land of Nod,
To the place where they could find true peace.
True peace, true peace… Where they could find true peace.

The love that twined forever within their hearts
They sought throughout all the wonderous lands
Going to the place where they would live in peace,
A place where true peace, rules and lives in the hearts of the land.
The land, the land… Where true peace lives in the heart of the land.

Alas, the love of the heart, though truly not easy to find…
Is easier to find than the love of peace, found throughout the land.
So it’s said they will continue to sail, until that day comes true,
And when they land for the final time, will be up to me and you.
Me and you, me and you… That day will be up to me and you.

In the Shallows

I bent over to touch my toes
and the ground tore open like a backbone.

I tried to feed myself the sky;
to splice my tearducts into the universe
so that, when the pavement cried, it would mean something to me.
My fingernails punctured that slimy membrane
congealed with stars,
and I brought a slice of it to my lips,
hot and slippery like a jellyfish.
Peach juice, chalky-sweet, flowed,
fleshy particles snagged in my teeth,
and the colors erupted within my mouth.

Synthesia took over my lungs.
The hollows between my knuckles flooded with synovia
and all the ectoplasm threatened to separate from my cells
with a sound like thunder.
Diphthong tasted rusty like leukoplakia as it tiptoed across my tongue.
Tomorrow rose like the skeletons of trees,
groping for a feeling similar to catharsis
[catharsis tender as the broken wings of doves,
crunching underfoot like shattered glass.]

The clouds opened their thunderous maws
- teeth snicker-snacking, lamplight-eyes flaming the color of E#'s -
and consumed me.
I felt my skin turn to something other than skin:
thick and rough with scales,
my fingerprints melting into something waxen, smooth and opaque,
like pomegranate kisses on coffee mugs.
A feeling ignited deep in my structure;
cedillas blossoming like lilies from my lips,
fragmented sentences stretching taut as guitar strings
between my thumb and forefingers.
A flutter gentle and demonic as Calcifer erupted from my system
- splattering hot and frothing into my hand -
and fluid rushed in.

   I dared to taste oblivion,
       and the sky swallowed me.

My lungs failed to be lungs.
They flooded with caustic matter,
and I coughed up reflections sharp as fiberglass;
fighting with organs phthisical and sore.
I struggled to find a way to describe it:
the feeling of consuming something greater than yourself,
of opening your eyes and tasting the sound of rain.
It was like swimming,
but inside out.

I bent over to touch my toes,
              and my spine tore open;
the loose laces unraveling, veterbrae poking out
          like the tines of forks.
I tried to contort myself into the beginning,
but I only found where I end.

Castle In The Sand

Castle In The Sand

Waves besiege the shore
As crashing long lost lovers--
Lonely lions roar--
Salty cling of sultry air
Glistens as sunlight weakens...

Latte-coloured sand
Reveals waving fiddler crab
The male--his Huge hand--
Tempting females to his lair,
His deep castle in the sand.

~by deborah burch©

*Note: the fiddler crab
they mate every two weeks...the male stands outside his two-foot deep elaborate burrow in the sand (castle) and waves his very enlarged claw enticing all females who pass by...when one shows interest, she stops for a second or two...stares at him...and he goes in to his castle, comes out and repeats this a few times until she makes up her he has convinced a female, he seals the door to his castle, and there they stay...well, for a

The Pirate's Life for Me

I starts me life as pirate,
A grommet before age twelve,
Not an ordinary bandit,
High sea adventures me delve.

With a Letter of Marque in me han’
And the Commodore for me pa!
I spends dogwatch near the helmsman,
Nerey missin’ me bonny ma.

Old salts tell their gory tales,
Aye, dogs hanging from the gallows.
Punishments for a man who fails
Floggings or keelhaul; blood bath follows.

Scrimshaw hangin’ ‘round me neck.
A privateer by trade,
Flaunting booty on the deck
We’s the scallywags brigade.

Pirateering is me heartthrob.
I dreams schemes in the crows nest.
‘bout takin’ swag from an unfortunate swab.
I sits watchin’ pa from the crest.

Long nines aimed and ready,
Jolly Roger on the mainmast,
Headway fast and steady,
The enemy’s fate forecast.

One for all and all for one!
Drinkin’ grog an’ eatin’ grub.
Werkin’ on the “Morning Sun”
Me father at the hub.

Davy Jone’s locker, me final plight!
Death drifting in me beloved sea –
Straightway from the dark of night
The pirate’s life for me!

The Fisherman

When i was just a young boy,my sister i did go see,
She had married a fisherman, they lived of the sea.
Every morning at four A.M ,he would be up and out the door,
Heading for that fishing shack, just along the shore.

Making sure there was enough gas, to get him there and back,
Checking to see if the oars were on board, life jackets were in the sack.
He asked if i would like to go,to see how fishermen pulled thier nets,
I said sure count me in,will i need some mits?

A rain coat in case it rains,a long pair of rubber boots,
He said ok your ready, once we are out there it will be a hoot.
We started out from the wharf ,the sea it was calm,
He said its going to be a good day,we may even catch some clams.

Just out side the harbor, the sea got a little rough,
He seen the worry in my eyes, said awwwww your tough.
If you feel the need ,to lean over the side,
Dont be ashamed, its happen to me when i was just a boy.

When we got to the point ,where land we could no longer see,
We found the markers for his nets ,It was the only thing red in the deep blue sea.
We began to pull the nets over the side, taking fish off as they come,
Baiting the hooks as they went back in so there will be more fish on the next run.

Then all of sudden the wind came up,the waves got even bigger,
My stomach was starting to turn, and i was feeling sicker.
So in haste , he turned the small boat around and headed for land,
I was never so happy, when my feet hit the sand.

I said sorry but fishing isent the life for me,
But thank you so much for letting me see.
So a fishermans life isent for everyone ,thats true,
Of i go to try something new.
