MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE

Today I penned a love letter
I know you'll never see
Secret thoughts and feelings
Bottled up inside of me
Romantic muse on my heart
Words written with the mind
My forbidden introspection
I know you'll never find
For I, myself, am the bottle
I'm not floating on the sea
The message is deep inside
Heartbroken that we can't be
I know this sounds freaky
But every word I say is true
Although we've never met
My heart is missing you!

There Be Dragons

There Be Dragons

In that place where the Earth meets the sky
Where magic reigns with myth
There dwell, yet still, great dragons that fly
Blue unicorn and gryph...

Fantastical creatures cloaked in time
An epic testament
Where the Zepher lifts the fae--sublime
No longer reticent--

Beware! The splenetic Nebulous
Who guards the minutes there
Her exquisite mass is ravenous--
No jot or tittle fare!

Do some planning should you gallivant...
The fae will help you see,
Lilly, Lilac, Aster,Skull--enchant
With such simplicity!

By the Willow Bliss of Yesterday
You just may want to quit...
But don't let your vigor ricochet
Cherish your kismet!

Delight the dragon and get a wish
Show some humility
But watch your heart--his favorite dish--
Your liability!

There be dragons in the twilight of day
Timeless and roaming free...
Seek an oasis wherever you may
And most aggressively!

Erratic

          Oh, Poisiden, you disrupt my sea;
Alter not your color for the likes
                    Of miserable me;
                       Your mouth foams in revelry
                       As I gasp desperately for
                       One remaining breath;
                     My rosary floats upon your
                Fickle friendship of fury,
         For your whims leave me
      With goose flesh as
    The grapevine wraps itself
    Around my throat ~
    I bear witness to antiquated
      Notes which deceive;
         The tongue of thy counterpart
            Scorches this bosom...
                Nevermore do I grieve,
                    Yet I swim vainly;
                       The chastity belt on land
                           It does remain,
                              Drowned dreams of delusion ~
                                Un- new;
I lurk within the shadow of
                                        Door number two.

The Ship

The Ship

Foreshadowing the dusk, appeared immense,
magnanimous the skylines sent the ship,
its blackened sight embossed the thought and sense
of sailors that imagined its long trip.

The ship's black smoke ascended to the skies
from supercilious tall funnels, smog
bestowed its sacrificial offing size
to sovereign Gods that lived inside the fog.

In front of us, the ship's displacement thrilled
approaching, hence, magnificent the moors;
Her Soul, the Sea, and eulogy that killed,
relentlessly enticed, through dark allures.

The night descended when the ship's steel gaze
examined curious and measured me,
proposing wedlock and a fate of blaze,
my competence, demanding, in the sea.

Across the Straits, young Lady Sadness kissed
with ripping cold my twenty years and eyes,
resembling Her Soul, the Sea, amidst
the Northern winds that howled and life's demise.

The Homeplace

Here further down the hillside slope
Down close to the creek with hope

My husband bought a house, land
Fenced in and made many plans

Subdued the land to cow pasture
And planted a garden, fruit trees sure

Fathered another child to call him sir
The creek seemed to like the stir

Enjoyed the children for a little while___
Loved them so that it made her smile

Today she loves grandchildren the same
No girls there are in frills ___tame

The creek keeps on flowing to the sea
The land is mostly stripped of trees

his work.)

Nothing Remains

My fingers grasp at the void, empty-handed...
My heart lingers at hollowness, emptied out...
reminiscent when time got wrinkled, worn
when night and day left,
and only nothing remained.

The embers of my burning words
wither into the palest of ashes,
it makes me think of dead skin cells—
they are nothing but dust
sloughed off, then piled up into dusty corners, forgotten.
Minuteness discarded, a lover’s crumbling skeleton.

A noise barrage invades my soul’s silence,
an onslaught of thought and reason—
A wailing, pounding, desert squall that drowns me,
shattering the dam of tranquility.

I plunge back into this abyss of loneliness.
Of course nobody’s there.
They have all been long gone.
And here I am, with only this vast void as my company.
It whispers, it screams
and echoes into my mind,
what they’ve all been saying all along,
that I brought this upon myself.

Maybe I did. Of course I did.
Of course I did. Maybe I did.

Back and forth, back forth it goes...

I seek sanctuary in dreams,
for it is only there that my sea of loneliness
becomes a sea of ecstatic happiness...
I seek sanctuary in dreams,
for it is only there that I am welcome.

Touch me Not! Noli me tangere.
Wake me not...

Silence has blocked your ears.

The shattering of my heart was unperceived,
so I am left alone to take extreme care of these countless shards.
I can’t afford to hurt anymore, as I have done to the others.
With my words. With my long-winding, droning and ever-boring words.
The death-inducing kind of boring.
And only nothing cared to remain.

I am left with no choice but to be one with this nothingness,
flow along its waves, imbibe it and become it. Nix.
Let me evaporate, let me join that cycle of seeming nothingness.
That nothing, that stark quiet before the storm.

Breathe deep into that void.
Inhale nothing.
Hear nothing. See nothing. Say nothing.

Then wait...

Can you feel me now?

As nothing touches you.

*** This was inspired from Catie’s “Nothing Remains”. In choosing this, in no
way am I saying that her poem needs improvement. It is brilliant as it is. I chose this poem of hers because it moved me and spoke to me. Thank you, Catie.

Allowance

My prints are visible for now as I press the soaked sand
Breathing in the cured sea air
I hear the silent roar of its mighty movement
Disobedient curves imbuing in an aquamarine blue
Rhythmic grains of tamed shells
So violently arranged in a thing of beauty along the beaten shore
One should feel powerless against its perimeter
As the constant ascension changes the beach slowly over time
So to do I feel an ever so mellow shift of mind
The sea is an ever so predictable place
With an unpredictable aim
Every bit true for life

Ocean Beyond The Stars

Through them one can see an ocean.

Her ocean.

It's there beyond.

Beyond the stars.

The stars in her eyes.

Upon her sea there are no boats.

If you wade too far, there is no hope
of rescue.

Still where her beaches are,
there's warm soft sand.
For her to walk.
Peaceful and calm.
Save the gentle breeze tickling her arm.
Save the calls of the sea gulls.

She holds some wet stones
cupped
in her left hand.
Shiny and sparkling.
But, not
always
beautiful.
Not always smooth
and soothing
to touch.

She contemplates each in turn.
Her collection.

Then
she gazes out upon the ocean and above it to the stars.
The stars beyond.

And so,
they are reflected there.
Forever reflected there
in her eyes.

To the Sea

To The Sea

Sea,
I look to you
For answers
To the questions that swirl like your currents in my mind
Are you as unfathomable as my heart?
Do your swells exceed the passions rising within me?
Does your churning and pounding match the rhythm of my pulse?
Is your water as cold as the loneliness here?
Does the salt you contain taste the same as my tears?
Does your thunderous crashing on rocks at the shore
Equal the tempest that rages in my soul?
Do you harbor secrets in your depths as I do?
Are you roiling below the surface with anticipation?
Do you long for a visitor to break the horizon...
As I long for my Love?
Does the wail that rises from your hollow reefs
Blend with the plaintive cry from my lips?
Can the overture played on your delicate shells
Drown out the sound of my siren song?
Sea, I have loved you, Sea, I have known you...
We feel the same, we sound the same
We give the same, we take the same
We are one
And the same
You and I,
Your mournful soulmate

The Winds of the Night

The winds of the night creep in on you and they are up and about.
They surround you in the darkness and shed you into some light.
They are given and they are taken with your most silent thoughts.
They pass through your hidden fears and come from plain sight.
The winds of the night so clever and discreet they really are.
They hold no boundaries to your beginning and nor to your end.
They are warm and they are cold rising above you and reaching up from far.
They are of their own power and hold onto all claims of their own.
The winds of the night come sending a message to the unknown.
The winds of the night are aimless but when directed they drift all together.
They are dangerous when calm at night a sight not even one has really seen.
They are unsettled with no balance yet predictable by where they all concur.
They capture what is felt and heard because they’re accepted as they’re deemed.
The winds of the night come and go for they are on a lifelong mission.
They are silent within your journey for they can not be spoken to or touched.
They exist for your life bringing the world into its final rule on deception.
The winds of the night carry enough strength to lead a massive world into the unjust!

Beaches

How did I get here?

Amongst the crusty sand and screeching gulls
Where greasy waves spill haplessly
Under an unyielding, gray sky

How did I get here?

Wandering about in pained abstraction
Looking at the rolling, dark waves

Parceled out in hopeless piles
That crash against this jagged beach

Retreating in thinly, flattened sheets
Only to return newly crashing waves

The endless crash and retreat that tugs at me
Soon vanishes to obscurity in the open sea

Where all things mix and die
Forever in timeless ritual

Were only my soul to return so easily
And crash again with all its might

Were only my heart lightened
To join those retreating waves

Then I too could return anew
To cut my little edge on this beach

And retreat backward to the sea
Where all things mix and die

Beautiful Oblivion

Sit and watch the thin, blank dawn
that never quite sweeps you off your feet.
Wrestle with memories that don't want to be suppressed,
and repress the urge to canon-ball into the ocean.
(sinking: sinking slowly, because you never learned how to swim.)

Listen to rainbows churning in oil-spill puddles,
and wait for the beautiful oblivion to take its toll.
Somewhere inside you know things will never be the same again,
but that's okay with you, sickening as it seems.
(you want to float away into seaweed forests and play fetch with the big, bad wolf.)

Dream of living a full, happy life
while you tear your world apart.
Sell your body to those dark, dank demons in your cerebrum,
whimpering and wondering deep into the night.
(praying for a chance to show your worth while you still exist.)

Sink low beneath the foaming sea,
wring out your hands and paint your thighs with scarlet letters.
Let the wolves lap the salmonella from your fingertips
and wrap yourself in red - lay face down in the snow, don't breathe too deeply:
(someone dances in snowflakes nearby.)

Watch the thin, blank dusk
that never quite sweeps you off your feet.
Wish for brazen arms and a warm crook of the neck to rest in.
Hug yourself beneath the covers and silently cry; you know now...
(no one wants to comfort a girl who craves suffering.)

You will never be what anyone wants.

The Sea of Sorrow

All alone in the middle of pain-
drowning in a sea of sorrow -
a demented asylum of unmerciful distress-
that destroys all hopes of tomorrow-

these dark crashing waters-
that are fueled by the rain-
are destine to swallow me-
in this cold sea called pain-

my heart beats uncontrollably-
as I frantically gasp for air-
but my lungs are filled-
and my cries are silenced-
by the bitter waves of despair-

where is the sun to dries these waters-
and give long awaited relief-
to a soul that's drowning in a deep sea of sorrow-
pulled under by the currents of grief-

Tide

Must be so far
'Cause I can't see the end
Here's hoping
Here's to all who never cared

I said I'd serve you until the end
Not so hard to understand
But you have killed the moment
Left me here for dead

Coming too fast
'Cause I can see the end
Here's hoping
You take time forget

I said I'd serve you until the end
Not so hard to understand
But you have killed the moment
Left me here for dead

Coming too late
'Cause I have passed the end
Here's hoping
You let go of all regrets

In comes the tide
To wash your life away
Here's hoping
That you're on solid ground

A vampires poem (1549)

Blood i seek, blood i lust,
blood i crave, blood i must!
Day has gone night is here,
eternal day thats all i fear!
Years have past seem like days,
endless night i stop to gaze.
Forever young i cant get old,
thirst for blood my skin is cold.
Born centuries ago in a far distant land,
were i fell victim to another hand!
I left my home land so long ago,
where this evil feeling did so grow!
I searched for others just like me,
i sailed the ocean across the sea.
Years went by my search was long,
looking for belief to were i belong.
It was Paris (1304)it finally came,
i think of it again and again
The night was young it was pouring with rain
She whispered in my ear that we are the same.
Enemy of man, they hunt me down,
home for now, this old town.
I hear their thoughts, i smell their fear,
most often they don't now am here.
I keep my face on that old bookshelf,
because that's the only time i see myself.
Blood i need, before sun rise,
staring through these black cold eyes
I roam the night were creatures call,
i write this now from this old town hall.

Beyond the Distant Horizon

The open sea
Seems endless
In every direction for me

The last accompanying sail
Gone over the edge,
The tip of the mast
A sight I found a comfort
Is now a thing of the past

All alone on a world
With no end
Sailing alone
With a heart to mend

No ocean liner
Or luxury yacht for me
A simple boat
On this useless sea

If I make
Some distant shore
To sail once again
A desire I will have no more

Wave Washed

Presence dissolved
Cresting watery fingers awash
Impressions in the sands
This cynical acquaintance
Running away
From flawless memories
In their laughter’s echo
I sat and watched
As my childhood castles
Were drank away
By the Atlantics thirst
Everyday one summer

The Social Norm

Drink the drink, and take the pills, lay on the medication.
But your soul's forever lost to them without persistent dedication.
There's things we've learned, and things we will, to decide us right from wrong.
But your ears are only open, now, to a techno-logic song.
Social norms have bound you tight, then cut you awf'ly deep.
And still your soul beneath the surface begs of you, relief.
You waded in their welcome waters, thought it nice and cool
But now I'm sure you've figured out you're lost in sorrows pool
So take it from who knows you best
Someone who has passed this test:

Before you drift out in the sea And the shore's no longer in your view, I promise that I'll bring you back And if I can't, I'll follow you. Before your legs and arms grow weak And you've passed your final tier, I promise that I'll hold your hand; I promise you I'll still be here. Before your lungs are filled with water And our souls are parted once again, I promise you that you're forgiven; I promise you I'm still your friend. Before you close your sunken eyes Inviting night to kill the day Know your bright was never slight And soon you'll see your way.

brines' sister

Back in the distance stood her form
she waved saluting - and I knew,
our life had stopped , the distance grew,
- when I embarked, her glance was warm.

The Adriatic was that night
calm - covered by a cotton mist,
- she shroud became, of our last feast
that lingered in the souls first light.

And ghostly was the old ship's log
- fair ocean sister - end betimes
she covered us with sounds of chimes
that rang harmonic from the fog.

Like Sirens' voices their sound welled
forthright - unearthly was their verse
so blithe and kind in minds rehearse
thus spoken words beloved and held.

Brines' sister, distance and faint glow
- from depths my solitude enacts,
while shooting stars on earthward tracks
night-race to quench by ocean's draw.

The boldness of the ship declines
the nautilus' endangered fare;
it's wrongful to recall her stare,
our bicycling and coastwise pines.

Brines' sister song conducts in air
- our magistral attended line,
how beautiful the dewdrops shine
- aloneness floats on seaward fare.

A Farmer's Eyes and a Sailor's Shadow

A thorough yield
On a farm field of far east
It took me time to realize
How far I am to my far east of coast

Call of my weather
Call of my winds
I sailed further and farther
To my naked coasts
Naive songs, Nimble rains
Nile of rivers, Nascent clouds

Reaching this far
I kissed my earth
Ground of my grief
Glory of my ghosts
Glad is those leaves
However scanty they are

Cast is my shadows
No longer they hide
My colors and my figures
They cast numbers on stars
Measure their light
Scope my winters
Scale my summers
Scanty my rains
Scuttle I wish my springs

Now let me see my greens
Their leveling heights
Their leafy gaze
Their spiderly gesture
Their primordial texture
Now let me be slow
In company of my greens

Half sleeping birds

My ride is on the road's margins;
arcane's my path in dusk's glory,
Some lost sea gulls know my story,
peculiar listeners, burgeon.

Lone soul revolts - deflects the pain,
was it one spell or more? In sea,
(half sleeping birds on a marquee),
conceived the crews of ships - and vain.

The distant boats travel bitter,
onto their trip of lone grandness
I reached the moors and storm's madness,
the three fates weave my life's knitter.

In air they float towards my past,
their spell became a sky's thunder
my life won't be torn asunder
while the ship's seaward trip contrasts.

My past's a track that draws away,
arcane the spells reversed inside;
did you invite my life to Hades,
to end the road race of Sunday?

Promise me

You collapse to the ground
I hurry to catch you
Whispering words of destitution, tiredness, and fatigue
You tell me you’re tired
Weary to live like this
With this illness
How it shuts every door
Pains to the core
Slowly, spitefully, you start to lose yourself
I fear that in my every soul
Tears of ache run down my sight
I yell at you, beg you at you to stop
Demand you to discontinue
Thrive for that promise of yours
Tell me it’ll all be okay
Tell me you’ll get better
Awe me with your dreams
Inspire me with every act of good of yours
Every city you wish to route every street of its
Every sunset you wish to set eyes on
Every night sky, full of bright blazing miracles
But you don’t
You tell me you can’t
And I ask of you to do that
But although that
Although every worry that ties me
Every doubt, every tear, every darkest misery
You surrender and leave
Leave me there
All anxious and terrified
Of what comes next
What is due to occur
And it frightens me
Keeps staring at the empty space
With thoughts and thoughts
Conquering
Torturing
Consuming
We began with nothing
And what’s left is nothing
But all that we began with

Fana: The Falling Away of the Falling Away

So much of life
Is like walking a beach all alone;
Where you began is lost in the white distance behind
Where you are headed a mystery as well.

We carry along two small bags of pretty pebbles
We gather along the way,
One for the joys
One for the troubles.

Both bags get a little heavier
The further we go.

Mostly it's a long silent walk
With a boundless sea whispering by our side
In a tongue too ancient for the rational mind.

But here and there we stop
And turn to gaze out over that sea,
     Fingering pebbles as we do.

And sometimes, if we're very lucky,
And we wait and listen long enough,
The whisperings begin to make sense
     And we become aware that
     An unseen Someone,
     A special Beloved,
     Has been pacing us all along;
That we have never been truly alone.

One must be careful not to turn too fast,
To try to see this Beloved,
Or they will vanish like a snowflake on the tongue.

The trick is to cast one's gaze deep into oneself;
Then the Beloved will appear, laughing at our cleverness,
And we shall see that our silent companion
Looks exactly like ourselves
As we appear in others' eyes.

And if we can bear to match the Beloved's gaze long enough,
They will vanish before us
And we will find ourselves gazing out over that sea with their eyes,
And see it as it truly is: dancing, infinite, eternal, perfect.

If we can do this but once,
We can open our bags and toss the pebbles into the sea,
     Even as we realize that sea as well is but a part of us;
We will understand its language of song and laughter,
     And disappear into everything joyfully
To the sound of our own
     Perfect and infinite

     Laughter

As the great whirling dance
Begins again.

Blackbird

Drape over lonely hours, gloom of night The silence that succumbs me takes its toll I am left with stardust shed from starlight Words behind me, left as ink upon my scroll You're still inside my heart, marksman of my soul Stillest ocean wrath, black by moon's allure The blackbird dips to brush the water's drone Her wings spread wide and mind set free and pure No two-legged demons here to throw a stone She flies into the seaside night alone

Sun Kiss - Welcome the Day

Sun Kiss - Welcome the Day
                   by Amy Swanson

Kissed so softly by the sun

          warmth on my face

                    wind in my hair

                              enjoying this place

          of quiet contentment

          at peace with life

          letting my problems

                   go ....

                         ... flow...

out into this

sunfilled
sunshine
sunglow
sunkissed

                        afternoon

                        without a care.

Breeze blows gently

            I close my eyes ...

                          soul drifts along

                          entwined with nature

                          precious moment

                          peaceful solitude

Jetsam Of Scuttled Me

There is no peace
In this squall that is my soul
This shipwreck of suffering
Dawn's flag fluttering
A cove that won't let go

My reflection is gone
But you're still there
Gelid lips still bearing
The salt of placid caring
The coral of kicking seas

I hear the horn resounding
Midnight's mistress crowning
As bottled moonlight spills all
The red tide of hope drowning
The fabled fathoms of Luna's call

Behold the glass inlet
Where jagged love flows free
Beneath my shredded mast
The threaded din of reflections past
That's where tomorrow finds
Jetsam of scuttled me

Ever Flowing Pen

Oh, ever flowing pen
I've grown cognizant
You, my only comforting friend,
Taking me adrift
Waves of the forbidden sea
Venturing into territory unmarked,
That offers a soothing melody
Caressing, permeates tranquility
As you rock my restless mind
Into a delusional bliss
Unspoken words that dance
With excitement upon my paper

" Bahama Nation"

A nation of peace,a nation of pride
A nation that's spread far and wide.
A nation of hope,a nation of joy,
Thats free for all, man, women ,girl and boy.

A nation to give,a nation to take
A nation filled with reggae, socca, calypso and rake and scrape.
A nation of colors; black,gold,aqua....sometimes called blue
can be seen everywhere above land and under sea too.

A nation of democracy and old english style, but things sure have changed if you
look up our file.
From outside rock stoves,to TV,radio, computers and wi-fi connectivity.........
I'd say that a long way from July 10 1973.

An nation filled with hospitality, love and history,
Arawaks,Caribs and American Indians are the basis of our nationality.
A nation where Tourism is number one, because of the Bounty of sand sea and sun.

Yes,a nation of Youth, sports ,culture, uniqueness and island fashion trends,
Like native Androsia our own local blend......and straw work and junkanoo, the list has no end.
This nation of beauty, splendor and self defense ;yes its celebarting its own INDEPENDENCE.

The old fisherman and the hummingbird

Lazy I lingered on the porch of my terrace
a hummingbird was softly picking on a daisy
this reminded of the time when I lived at the coast
I use to watch seagulls as they dived into the sea
that ancient symbol of the strife to survive

But as I turned my eyes away from the sand
the hummingbird started to sing a melody
my soul surrendered to harmony
gone that old vision of agony

When I returned to the comfort of my lazy couch
in my head the hummingbird's song went on and on
took me back to times of innocences so clear and so pure
it finally won from that old cynic I'd become.
That was the day, I heard a hummingbird sing.

Inhaling The Sea

The sails are taut..
The lines give not..
  Waves are lapping and splashing

The wind sings too..
Dolphins play for you..
  Chirping seagulls laughing

Arms outstretched against the rails..
Moonbeams reflect colorful sails
  The salty mist inhaling

She holds me, cradles me, rocks me to sleep..
Away from my troubles, to waters so deep..
  Of anger she is forgiving

Incestuous Youth

Late afternoon surfers
clasp the wind-swollen waves
to chests rounded and tanned,
jut-nippled and muscular --
the scent of their youth
fresh as the salt air.
They ride the belly-quivers
of the fecund green sea,
endless, undulating, incestuous --
the common watery womb
which bore us all.

My Wishes are Simple

My Wishes are Simple

My wishes are simple,
my desires few,

to gaze upon an ocean,
and marvel at a solitary drop of dew.

My wishes are simple,
my dreams not too grand,

to feel the waves teasing my tired feet,
with no footprints left in the cool, wet sand.

My wishes are simple,
my thoughts serenely gentle, calm,

my heart resting beneath a swaying palm,

healing my being, caressed by nature's soothing balm.

Watch Her Fall

A somber landscape outside her window
She looks at those amber leaves full of sorrow
Watching them fall from time to time
Like reading a poetry away from sublime

Her scarlet lips turned ghostly white
Bald trees and dying ones are always on her sight
She looks at a man sweeping the fading beauty
and when the day falls the night was dreary

A somber landscape painted with fears
She looks at those dry amber leaves in tears
Waiting for the sun to be sealed in an envelope
as she stopped breathing, she smiled full of hope

just two…
”...launcher ready…”
steady my hand
tending the weeds
near a row of beans
a far away land
”...it’s not a good time…”
so I wondered
and thought of when
wars are just plays
staged in the hands
of writers like me…
I’d arm the nations
with radish leaves

that unload seeds
Peanuts money
on my jelly spread
I’d share the health
giving lettuce, head…
”... is it a good time now?...”
who wants a cow

in.human.e hands
glitters the water
between the corn
I’d sale on ships
into rosebud shores
and i’d grow my fish
in between the stores
”...I’m god in my garden…”
and I divide the rows
soing what suits me
in tomato groves
and near my basil
I’ll build a school
teaching the mint
just how to be cool

Colorless Beauty

Wet branches bare and black as night,
iced with snow, so pure and white,
contrast stark burned in my sight,
a snapshot stored with cold delight.

The lack of color, so complete,
the beauty made my knees so weak,
a slight wind made the branches creak,
I held my breath, afraid to speak.

My world was black and white and gray,
but perfect, sharp and crisp that day,
an Ansel Adams on display,
the image haunts me to this day.

THE WISHING WELL OF A SUN-RISE,

It is...within the tiny things of early morning, that moment breaths alive, it is within the tiny whisperings, that a melodye plays...like the very dear and the antelope, play home on the range.

so goes the melodye of heart beat, that plays quietly the songs of soul,

here a rhyme is born of day-light coming so soon, through the early morning eyes of the moon-light, and the starry dreams of twilight's transitioning...

into the light of a love letter written to dawn.

soul to soul conversing, as in this love letter, the letters just join hands with the words and just march across the sky...and at the end of the rainbow, there be plenty of golden time,

way down deep on the inside,

...as the inspired choir, of a bumble bee, or a butterfly, starts to sing, like tiny things that live,

flower to flower,
blossom to bloom,

watered and deeply cared for...

O' Eden.

I say, deep beneath the surface of a wishing well...where the pennies lay,

I wish a sun-rise.

If We Were Back

Where once we laughed, bent over our middles,
pounding the table, or just smirking with a rueful
“Oh, my God”, sort of way, could I forget the silent beach?

Rustles of sand at my window as you walk off
hands in your pockets after our gazes met one last time
as you checked I remained alive and you had no duty

to fill any more. How could the sand slither so
beneath our feet, like an upturned timer wiping clean
wiping, wiping away our faces, our moisture,

until only the rollers were brave enough to face
me and the sand and the laughter and the quiet
and what had passed away never to return again.

Never the same river or ocean or hands awaiting
the clock of our unmaking until your rueful smile
no longer smirks at the me that was never there
in your dreaming, and I am made who I am again. Real.

A New Year Reflection

Partys for couples new lovers and just friends.
Music to fill the night the streets of New york
breath life to old flames keeping even jaded souls warm.

The lonley gather round the TV.
sharing a glimpse at something we all yern to have.
And from the up high the streets seem magic tonight.

the soudtrack of the night will echo
into are hungover minds with a painful yet happy reminder
of last nights celebration.

Late night lovers will smile and go there awkward ways.
So many acts in so many different plays.
creeping back to are corners in lastnights suit and tie.
Tight little black dress kiss worn lips
acting happier than two kids ragged in need of a shave
you with hair in a mess.

And for friends that gather to relive not so real
past glory.
The pages are left to the writter.
To add to lastnights not so original story.

As the barflys gather to battle another unsober day.
I watch this first new day anew.
Take a sip from my flask and thank the lord
for one more year with you.

And tonight I say to you all raise that glass.
kiss that stranger you know so well.
Laugh love and live.
And thank whomever ya choose weve made it through another
year to tell.

I am me

Written on 29th and 30th April 2012.
BY: Sashi.Prabhu (zeauoxian)

Father time always has lessons to open heartedly preach, Of late have understood few of them, which was for a long time out my thoughts reach. Now life seems to me as a sandy bank of a long desolate beach, Where we trudge life’s sandy path in a hurry without an end the shores of success to reach. But I often ask myself, what lessons, life to us, does preach? Need to with all 5 senses deem or else we will end up filled with remorse and impeach. People tell me about change, And ways to my life rearrange. But my heart and mind vehemently hum to me to be real sure, And ensure that the changes don’t take my life on an offbeat detour. Far away from people who on me shower their love and care, Is that what you desire I ask myself? Stop think, mull and be minutely aware. Life’s Moments pass us like flowing water of a the sea or stream, Linger on, Sweet memories of some wonderful people who touched us like waves, come to mind or in our dreams. In our quests to succeed and get on in life we strive to move ahead to the success shore, And those cherished moments keep flashing in our dreams and in our thoughts more & more.
But
We trudge each day life’s sandy path in a hurry the shores of success to reach. Need to with all 5 senses deem or else we will end up filled with remorse and impeach. Life’s Moments pass us like flowing water of a the sea or stream, Linger on, Sweet memories of some wonderful people who touched us like waves, come to mind or in our dreams.
So
I often mull and ask my mind, Mostly about me but also about thoughts that often in mind and they themselves grind. Must I, my beliefs, ideology and principles change? To improve my life and it’s relations and my entire life rearrange?????
Now
I long to be my original me As an original is worth more than a copy, as the world conceives and all see, I am my original me. I am me I am Me………….

Ever South

Yellow leaves swoop by the window like
errant canaries, confused, bruised, caught
in a ghostly whirlwind they rise and fall
swirling, hurling, snapping like a flag unfurling,
trapped taut against the window
caught momentarily, autumn comes to
stir things up, to disrupt, the end of
summer so abrupt, ruffling the feathers
of the glossy blackbirds who darken the sky
in swarms and herds, crowding on power lines
they huddle together as birds of a feather,
cawing, seemingly cursing the weather,
so many on the line, a snapshot in time,
etched into my mind, sublime,
taking flight en masse to head ever south,
south, to warmer climes as I hear the deep
tones of my Gregorian chimes, thrumming
tones that rattle breastbones, I count the
autumns that have come and go and
I know, I know.

MY BEST BAD CHOICE poetry contest ADULTERY

        MY BEST BAD CHOICE

Was a time --not long ago
When you begged me sweet and low

“Cast your net upon the sea
Quickly,darling, marry me!”

My heart caught
and in a minute
My life was soup
And I was in it

A fair eyed man means dangerous shores
& I'm adrift-- mid rocks galore

On a current, flashing fins
You cast your line--
And hook sweet sins

And, at work you cannot think
When fishy eyes blink out a wink

Even friends are not off limits
When tides wash in the vodka gimlets

Do I hate you, yes, I could
Do I hate you, no, I should

A straying man on marriage seas
Navigates adulteries

When asked to re-chart his course
He usually stomps and screams “divorce”

MORAL 1:

Mixing metaphors and such
Keeps the critics out of ruts

MORAL 2:

Straying husbands/shagging rabbits
Cannot/willnot change their habits.

Naturacide

The crying ocean weeps fresh tears
The vacant beach so moist is gone
The sea swells like a throbbing cry
Caught in the throat of loneliness

Nature, tormented by time
Erodes herself and ebbs and flows
With the emotional tides of the moon
As the dawn breaks, fragments, scatters and is gone
The lone nascent emotion sparked within the soul
Embraces the new, the unpredictable
With all sense of time and order lost to the waves
Man falls into new nothingness
And finds sanity among the seasoned sighs of the tide
The warning whispers of the sea

The crying ocean weeps fresh tears
The nascent horizon is swallowed
The sea swells in a throbbing cry
Caught in the throat of despair

It is beautiful

Drought

The screaming wind blasts the dry land,
twisting the parched sand across human roads.
A town's cracked lips taste the sun baked air,
searching for moisture to ease its barren loads.
Scorched plants wither in the sun's vicious waves,
their frail bodies dying from the intense heat.
Soon, these tender fields of man's nurtured hopes
turn yellow from drought's arrogant treat.
Dreams of water evaporate into nothingness,
as the frying of the earth sizzles on.
Humans pray for the gold of heaven's moisture,
but the time for blessed rain has gone.
As drought chokes a plant's breath of life,
sun burnt mortals quickly begin to tire.
Nature's life wains within the devil's garden,
and water flees from drought's river of fire.

My Ship

Beneath the deep blue sky, my ship,
Its curving timbers bend and bow,
Upon a mast flapping about,
Are white sails all eager to go.

A voyage over distant seas,
Beneath the deep blue sky, my ship,
The rigging whistling in the wind,
Is music playing to my ears.

For me a life upon the wave,
Oceanic winds my only guide,
Beneath the deep blue sky, my ship,
On its journey around the world.

Ahhh! A brave captain I be
Sending my crew this way and that,
Until mum calls us in for tea,
Beneath the deep blue sky, my ship.

I'm Always Around

I'm Always Around
by BJ Welsh

I'm not near, but I'm really not so far
If you look up I'll be the brightest star
Looking down upon God's project earth
Watching and waiting for a rebirth
When you speak I will always listen
My points will seem to shine and glisten
Giving you guidance when things seem tough
Steady now it may be rough
When we meet again someday
Be it there or far away

I'm here for now and always will
Never escaping, did you feel that chill?
My spirit wind brushed by your side
Or the soft, gentle wave pushed by the sea tide
When we meet again someday
Be it there or far away

You've given me hope and reason to breath
It's not yet time for me to leave
I'm that fluttering seagull upon the sands
Maybe I'm the reason for you to dance
When we meet again someday
Be it near or far away

A mariners alms and a sirens song

A mariners alms and a sirens song

A siren sings of solace in solitude
Sighing, a sailor steadies the sail
Certain resolve tested in a song
Swayed by a sense of homesickness
Tears of loss stream, alms paid
Seagulls soar as a fish jumps
Simplicity rests in the waves of the sea
A sweet disposition whispers balms
Ancient mariners passed this way
Always wistful of the sirens serenity song

Yonder Setting Sun

I have taken my final arrow,
My race has now been run
I’ll depart from here and go in peace
Into yonder setting sun

I will climb aboard the ship of death
And cross the chilling tide
I will go to yonder setting sun
As on this ship I will ride

I will not fear what lies ahead,
Or what I cannot tell
I’ll stand upon the bough and wave
To this life farewell

I will now close my eyes in death,
Weary from the race I’ve run
As upon the bough of death’s ship I will ride
To yonder setting sun

"Seasonal Change"

The sun glistens heavenly over our heads;thus casting black shadows as we walk in
togetherness.
We prespire ,skylarking in our seizure,in youthful bantering as we reach our destination.
Sudenly the wind is crisp, there is an occassional breeze about us pressing against our faces.
Feet cooled by the soft feel of wet sand,we emerge into the tranquil waters.......
we rise,we laugh,we dry ourselves and journey home.

The lean season begins and the sound of rain on our roof-tops restrain us to indoor activities.
The once humid air is cut sharply by the smell of moisture and precepitation.
Water trickles slowly down the window pane as I gaze unpatiently for a clearer day.
I bombard my mind with many insane questions, knowing fully well that there are yet no
answers.

The First Tear

I'm just one tiny tear
amidst the sea
of your eye
So many are surrendered
when emotional tides
are high

But not I
I have a different plan
I will not be just another tear lost
My entrance will be grand

I represent all in life
that which we cannot see
I'm the salty taste of bittersweet,
the liquid form of sympathy

The light spring shower of laughter
the endless sea of love
the strength of overflowing tears
 the power of just one

I am welling up
as now it is my time
I will represent your past
Your present and your prime

I’ll be your first tear as a woman
Your last tear as a girl
The tear that got to witness
The total eclipse of your world

And as you blink
I gently fall
The tides are getting higher now
But I was the first tear to fall
and land upon your baby’s brow

The Spark

It was overwhelming, it was lovely
It was my definition of forever, it was empowering
I spread it into the sea
Into space, time, and everything in between or beyond
I spread it into their souls
I spread it throughout the forgotten dimensions

Betrayal, a curve ball
Unexpectedly knocking me from this universe
I floated, away from everything i had seen
I was spread, beyond the city
I was spread, further from the seas

Closer to the bottom
The light became dim
The light became an illusion
The truth had been unfolded beneath
Like a trench, eager to sub duct innocence of loyalty
For I had traveled so far...

The spark, what is now a burden
What now burns
For once, it lit the way
It guided the way that the mind created
The illusion we were eager to find

Now all that is left
And of course,
Only the foolish search for the spark

A child I was and nothing more,
When first I gazed upon the sea,
I wandered here along the shore,
A-dreaming all the things to be,
When life was still a mystery,
Each day something new to explore.
A child I was and nothing more,
When first I gazed upon the sea,
But now with you I share my shore,
In realms of love, of you to me,
And so I know my destiny,
Like all the days I knew before.

Innocence Lost

Can innocence lost
Be ever returned
Or a heart, tainted and broken
Be cleansed, made whole once more?

Can a tree, longing for summer's warmth
Summon its leaves from cold autumn grounds
To return to naked branches
That it may feel joyful and alive again?

Can a child, disillusioned
Relive broken dream
Changing fate
To find naivety return?

Can joy be had in innocence lost
Or beauty be discovered, resting in sadness?
When birth of spring and warmth of summer pass by
Till all that remains is the still and quiet of winter
Will warmth be rekindled?

Cecil-- Whats in a Name

I was named after my grandfather on maternal side.
Cecil is my name, though at first I hated it so.
Teased I was, when I was younger, you need to know.
A cartoon there was, Beanie and Cecil show, I confide.

Few may remember though many will never forget.
Cecil was a sea sick sea serpent, which swam so fast.
Always helping Beanie, get out of trouble till the last,
“Help me Cecil” would be his cry, on every television set.

Cecil has always been a misleading name, to many who heard.
Thinking they did, I was a female, then surprised next.
This never hurt me, even happens, when they read my text.
Even now, when some read this verse, may say, “oh my word”,

Cecil also supposed to mean, “Blind” not sure of this meaning.
There is not much more to say, about my first name you see.
Though now that I am older, I do not dislike it, I am just me.
When people make fun of my name, I don’t find it demeaning.

I am even really proud of it, since there are not many with my name.
Though I have run into one or two, in many different places,
I even find it fun, to see expressions, on some of their faces.
They seem happy, as I am to hear, another person called the same

Polar Bears And The Penguins

Some times they say the great and mighty do fall…
And the penguin story of greatness, should be heard by all.
Polar bears are mighty and cunning with massive brute strength.
But they messed with the penguins, a mistake, I do think.

The polar bears went after the penguins and cute little chicks.
So you’ll never guess what those cute little penguins did.
Using the most courageous penguins as a target so nice.
They lured all the polar bears, for the first time, out onto the ice.

The greedy bears moved out in force for the kill.
But the penguins pushed the ice flows into the currents windmill.
So intent on dinner and full of themselves, were they that day…
That the polar bears didn’t notice the ice caught in the currents sway.

The polar bears were way out to sea, before noticing their plight.
And, by then, the penguins were safely at home tucked in for the night.
You might say, the current was a friend to the penguins that day.
For it eventually sent those polar bears to the North Pole far away.

Now the moral of this story is here to easily understand.
Brute strength is not the greatest thing to cherish; it is far greater to plan…
And, never turn your back on a penguin I say.
They’re the reason there’s no polar bears at the South Pole, to this day.

Coffee in a cup, makes a cup of coffee;
just as an aroma from within, makes the air,

smell of flowers in the spring

...blossoms,

time,

...a sweet thing, like sugar cane is to the tasting,
and the tasting is to stirring the dream,
flavor,

making flavored coffee
soul,

a drink in the morning.

Poetry About Poetry

Shades of color bounce within
Singing their hues dancing in place
Vivid lines colored outside
Rules broken with empty space
A midnights dream heard and seen
Gleaming from the twinkle of a eye
Wings touched flown and plucked
Gliding like a bird up in the sky
Wishes from pennies thrown into tears
The reservoir over flowing with pigments of pain
Drowning from the shadows
The flood paints the day
Words speak volumes of silence hidden
Their sounds blind to what they see
Mirrors of nouns and verbs
Their meaning and secrets lost at sea
Emotions ruled by laws of language
Spelled in boxes of glass
Melted from sands inside
That voices strangle to grasp

Last Words of the Mariner

Lying here in this life’s final berth,
No longer escaping to the sea.
If the greatest lie of all is not birth,
Death is life’s great treachery.

I think back to the times I spent
Sifting through the briny deep,
Deeply inhaling the saliferous scent,
Pleasure enough to make one weep.

The grave awaits me, I now admit,
As mortality is seeping through.
For if eternity is not a infinite pit,
I hope it ends in the quenching blue.

Living Sea

Her eyes gaze upward and witness
The bluest sky of some she has seen,
Issuing forth strength to her weakening soul,
 Pure, warm - a living sea;
A towering terrain she plants her feet,
A flowing stream to point her toward
Realms beyond her simple child-like dreams.
She captures a glimpse of sunlight’s smile,
She sings a song of happiness,
 A faultless peace, a gift of love;
 Illumination creates merriment, and
 Dominates her soul,
 Disquiet and difficulty fade away,
An age of joy will be her harbor,
An age of love will keep her clothed,
An age of rest will be her guest,
Her spirit soars as sunlight washes ashore.

Sea Turtle

Small, beautiful face stares up at me
When did you become so exquisitely you (so entirely other than me)?
I've spent my life consumed in myself
You, the rock in the background of my sorrow (listening, understanding, comforting)
The waves of my emotions and actions
Rolling off you
Leaving you the same (innocent, sweet, content).

Lie.
What a lie.
Sailing through scenes of times that seem to float up from another lifetime
I realize that rock was alive--
The back of a sea turtle (head tucked inside)
Who felt every tear and cut
Who love and love and love
And grew

You are you (so fundamental and yet amazing)
With worries and dreams so unconnected to me
No longer my shadow
But always my sea turtle

Like nebulous chords which cannot be found
my poem is lost; it's floating face down.
There must be a way to take ultrasound
of fickle brainstorms that keep flitting 'round?

I venture to guess my piece is just drowned
by rainclouds of doubt, or thunderous sound.
held back by lightning seeking a ground,
deluged by torrents of words that still hound.

I shall pen these sodden thoughts so profound
but meanwhile I sit, I write and I frown,
just treading water, I wait to impound
the thought reservoir my brain has not bound.

Alone

The Christmas tree stands alone
But still decorated with lights glowing
The family has come and gone

A misty tear drop with a quiet groan
Remembering the days when they were home
The Christmas tree stands alone

Wanting little ones to come and crawl in zone
Of the blanket, packages, and decorations
The family has come and gone

Leftover food, torn wrap, lights that shone
Guiding them to this warm old home
The Christmas tree stands alone

Dirty dishes, soiled placemats, candles blown
Still longing for them at home
The family has come and gone

Time passes, situations change
The love in my heart remains the same
The Christmas tree stands alone
The family has come and gone

The Vermeil Horizon

My life's lain out in vibrant shades
Amongst the shards of broken dawn
I walk alone through what remains
Of how my soul has come and gone

I have know the night, the stars
And I have seen the endless flowers
Falling like a sea of mercury

To see is to feel; to touch is to know
These tears will never let me go

For I have known the ocean's tide
And I have felt those endless nights
Fading like the sea that was in me

My heart is lain within the sky
The sunset that has yet to die

Season's Greetings!

Oh yes! I am bringing to you my sweetest “Season’s Greetings”!
We’re all for one and one for all we have our gradual meetings!
In just one single season;
I can change my very significance,
Into my natural underlining supernatural spiritual being,
I am inducted into a higher level of a thorough healing.

Autumn decorates Mother Earth’s leaves with painted colors of a much clever design.
Winter sheds its leaves harvesting bared naked trees perfected by one purely divine.
Spring brings many blessings by bundles pleasing my senses delicately I’m breathing.
Summer sparkles in midnight’s mystical air soothing my torturous day stained in sweat.
Balanced by my four winds in heaven into brilliant glory,
Each day you and I personally have pleasured and met!

“Season’s Greetings”!
Great Goodness!
I ‘m believing in exactly what it is I‘m seeing and feeling!

“Season’s Greetings”!
Goodness Gracious!
I’m feeling Mother Earth moving a healing inside of my own natural being!

A Sun so bright, glaring shiny throughout the endless midnight skies spreading wide out.
A Moon so light, beams flow through down into depths of seas netting webs on a mount.
Skies so high my breath loses sight in the glare of golden visions all at once I forebear.

Shallow rivers and high Mountains sounding to winds of decrees summoned by degree!
Valleys and fields rain top rocks of thunderous clouds striking down at the perfect pair.
‘Tis Season’s Greeting adjacent to humbling breaths with heirs to a mightier new year!

The Sea

Gently, silent waters
lap soft against the shore,
kissing stones and pebbles,
retreating then once more.

Blue to gray, colors blend,
combining sea and sky,
merging joy with sorrow
beheld in each mind's eye.

Seasons bring harsh changes,
waves rage against the land,
some see the storms as fierce,
while others think them grand.

Deep in the depths of darkness,
the sea will measure man,
taking ships to the bottom,
breath from his lungs, if it can.

Some only find grave danger
in those waters vast and free,
tho' others seeking pleasure,
find pure serenity.

Seep

A thousand times I've made myself
Into an interprative lie
A thousand times, a million words
That never will quite die
But in the truth, so continent
Is nothing that cannot be bent
Within these words, this plenitude
Is nothing of an origin
Within these lies, one bit of truth
Is only found within a facet of interpretation

And so we feel we know each other
Through the words we read, twice writ
But in all words, so many meanings
Kill all hope of understanding it

One word, one touch of mastery
Finds greatness only in what's seen
By those who are quite predisposed
To look for life in words transposed
Upon a page, so blank, so bare
That all the soul must still be there
Within that spot of black, inside the space
Surrounded by its like. There's left no trace
Of individuality within the frothing, dying sea of words once writ, twice faded, lost inside a sea of meaning, tost upon the shore of all that's seen by those who know what their own might-have-beens could mean to one who's never tried to understand, nor dared to try the hand of fate against a raging sea that took the form of fractured metaphor.

The soul seeps through.

Acid Dawn

Let us rest our heads upon the pillow of denial, turn twilight in the last clear reflection of the silent moon. Where vile droppings fell the freshness of the morning sea, turn to graveyards, lest we be;
...swimming in an acid dawn.

The corpse of shellings, scales a strewn, where once transparent was so blue,
this morning features scarlet hue, as skin is shredded in the burning morn.
Where vile droppings fell the freshness of the morning sea, turn to graveyards,
lest we be;
...swimming in an acid dawn.

...And come mid sun up, we shall bathe;
within sulfuric, petrol waves and drink our lemon juice until we choke.
Till our teeth rot and our tears evoke, the pandora’s box which we awoke.

An orange bright, our arid plight, and we the specks of dust behind;
lurching a dehydrated, evaporated existence. Famine on our minds.
Walking footsteps which no longer walk, dreaming of the past to escape the future as the present seeps our blood and marrow, the desert sun, a piercing arrow, stabbing at our hearts.

We hobble, oh we hobble and we hobble through the wasted years, through bones and makeshift graves, we’ll hobble into the final age;
where vile droppings fell the freshness of the morning sea, turn to graveyards,
lest we be;
...swimming in an acid dawn.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is estimated that within the next decade or two that the ocean will become so acidic as to dissolve the shells of mollusks and shellfish. This in addition to the already dwindling supply of precious fresh water which we must share with our animal friends. A supply by the way that we contaminate regularly, a supply that simply cannot be renewed.

Desalination was looked upon as the next great solution to water shortage despite it's expense. However considering how the oceans are becoming increasingly polluted due to oil spill after oil spill and Fukushima's constant radioactive leaks, in addition to the acidification of the ocean itself, it appears that we will have no viable water to look forward to in the future.

This is life. Forget profit, it doesn't exist. Nature has no concept of wealth, only of survival. If we all die, everything that we've accomplished will be forgotten, nature has no use for it. Currency will return to being simply paper and stone, and nothing else.

We need to stop thinking about ourselves and think of our children and all the other species that live upon the earth.

The Sea

The Sea

Ever changing, ever moving,
Waters under the pull of a distant body.
Ever calming, ever soothing,
Maurarders of ever distant booty.

Try to tame lust for gold and nature,
Explore the Pirate in yourself and try to win.
The lust for treasure wans, what remains is rapture.
At six or seven fathoms you realize your sins.

A noble ship you believe you sail,
How you conduct your business tells the tail.
Treat honestly with all you trade,
and of the evil of the heart never be afraid.

Ever changing, ever moving,
Waters under the pull of a distant body.
Ever calming, ever soothing,
Maurarders of ever distant booty.

Too tired tonight to expand on this.
The morning sun always has first rights.
So to my bed I go... To give my pillow a watery kiss.
Before I find a waterfront bar and end a few fights.

Wayside Walk

Ocean gales and tidal shift
Pounding
Basalt and sandstone mountains
Boulders
Rocks tumble into pebbles
Mighty trees
Uproot and splinter in Neptune's fury
Under my feet,
Crumbled remains of life
Ground to dust by the unrelenting ocean
Walking barefoot on tiny shards of glass

THEWhaling SHIP CAPTAIN's LOVER ballad dedicated my gmother's life

THE SHIP CAPTAIN’S LOVER (from my grandmother's life--her betrothed lost at sea on a whaling vessel in Norway 1890)

by Victoria Anderson-Throop

The winds blow free
And the winds blow cold
There never was a man so bold
As the man I loved who went to sea
The month he was to marry me

Times were hard
And times were tough
Winds were cold
North seas were rough

But a whaling man will fight for breath
Dare the sea , defy their death
He ordered his crew
“come follow me
Who fears to sail
Is cowardly”

“No, don’t leave me--
Please --I called”
He slapped me then
He was appalled

I had shamed him with my fear
I should have handed him his gear
And wished him well upon his way
Gone on like any other day

A woman’s place is by the shore
Nothing less and nothing more
She never begs and never cries
Unless her own beloved dies

While I waited on the shore
Fear seeped out of every pore
Days went by
And then a week
Tears were shed by brave and meek

Life was bitter, life was sour
A bell was sounded from the tower
For each beloved man
Now lost--
What a bitter
Deadly cost.

And , for me,
My life's in tatters.
Men don’t know the thing that matters--
I wish I had my man so sweet
Not my world
Thrown at my feet.

Oh darlin’ babe now in my arms
Don’t fall victim to wild charms
When the sea calls in your head
Stay at home-- die in your bed

Hollywood Beach Gulls

       HOLLYWOOD BEACH GULLS
Regrettably the sun was setting low
on wings of gulls all red and fiery eyed
they plucked the popcorn from our waiting hand
as if we had a dream to give to them
or sang a song they might have understood.

There in their shrilled descent they had such grace
my heart lept to an all time vibrant shrill
and wondered just how far their wings could fly
if only words of love could let us soar.

But words of love are only past regrets
of humping on the beach for me and you
after the gulls have found their nesting place
and making it on their own. Will I die
another death without the touch of you?

That bastard seagull. Wasn't he the shame
of Hollywood Beach that sunny afternoon
we met and we made love for real?
Not in St Johns
where I lived a mile from you
But in Hollywood Beach
where a drunk can be a drunk
but in goodf company
But we were just too drunk to remember,
like everyone else on the beach
all of us down from the great St Johns Blizzard,
doing what Canadians do best
staying drunk long enough to forget it all
when we got back home.
But in St Johns, we had the bitter cold as an excuse
for being drunk all of the time.

On Hollywood Beach, the gulls all knew
We didn't need an excuse,
we just did it.

A Ride Down the Thousand Islands III

A kayak floats on the glassy water
through the maze that is the Thousand Islands.
Water drips off the paddle as it rises in the clean air.
A breeze pushes the kayak through the labyrinth of islands.
No sign or sound of cars, buildings, or people.
It is a part of Florida that is still green.
Wild, the world as god meant it to be.
A stingray races by the boat towards an unknown destination

the kayak turns the corner of an island ever so slowly.
Tree branches hover over the water forming a canopy

low enough to stand and reach out,
to pluck a reluctant leaf from its home.
The crisp leaf crumbles as it is grasped.
A sweet smell emanates from the trees
replacing the smoky aroma of civilization.

No factories, pesticides, or overpopulation
Trees grow on their own giving off oxygen
Birds gathering without fear of things they can’t understand
Fish swim carefree no garbage floating in their way

The kayak paddles on, past the floating island and its canopy.
A juvenile little blue heron yells for its mate
wading in the water three feet away.

The oar is placed across the bow
the kayak drifts on in silence.
A brown behemoth emerges from the depths.
The sea cow basks in the sun
close enough to reach out a hand and rub across its slimy skin.
Consider touching it, but hold back.

Man already destroyed everything he touched.
It is not for us to cause more damage.

Let Your Rains Fall Down

let your rains
fall down
let your rains fall
let your tears run to the ocean
hold none of them tight within
let the earth send them far away
send them far away
far, far away
far away from here

Burnt Tongue

I'm so happy that you can yell at everyone
I'm so happy that you can express youself
I'm so happy that this world isn't what you expected
I'm just so parched that your so high up on your horse

And now I'm mad, now I'm sad, now I just dont understand
Why you care about two people fallin in love
Why you care if I drink or if I do drugs

I just wanna scream into your eyes
Make you realize that what you say isn't always right
Now right and wrong, it's all opinion
Black and white, yes I think they deserve, to be colors too
So how about me and you, is there any truth
You cant change the world with one voice if the tongue is burned

I'm so happy that you can climb a mountain high
I'm so happy that you think its my job to be the wife
Yeah I'm so happy that your such a hypocrit
I'm so grateful for you to tell me lies

And now I'm mad, now I'm sad, now I just dont understand
Why its your job to fix us all
And preach your words to a raging band
Someday you will see
That there is more than just degree
In this world that we praise peace
Peace is lost in the sea

To a Mermaid

At the end of the day
All your tears fade away;
All the stars come to rest,
The horizon now crest.

At the sea, the tide fades
As the sum of these days
Takes its toll on the ground,
Ripped and torn, tattered down.

And I'm here, by your side,
Torn away by the tide,
Trying still not to drown,
Not to fade in the sound of the sea.

But I see you, your eyes
Are the tide of the sea.
As they ebb, so they rise.
Still, they wash into me.

I can cry now no more.
Struck yet speechless, I cease.
In your eye, the tides roar;
I have found my release.

Lost in beauty, in that sea,
Lost in time, I'm lost to me.
Your face has aspect, fearful symmetry.
I find I'm lost for words. I cease to breathe.

And as the tide now tears me down,
It matters not.
My soul has found its rest within these ceaseless tides
That once contained my empty cries.

Captivated by your lips,
My breath is water.
'Neath the whips and scorns of time,
I find my peace.
My soul, content, has found release.

Lost in my emotion,
I found what I could be.
Drowned within that ocean,
My soul's absolved to me.

So have I drowned inside the sea,
Inside your tears, inside of me.
I know now what it is to be
Free.

She

A sweetly-scented, earthy rain-storm,
she came to me,

thunderously raging with raw emotion,
she came to me,

drenched in the essence of truth,
she came to me,

she touched a chord deep inside,
she strummed away all emptiness,

she came to me,

once...

she comes to me,

still...

a gentle presence filling my life,

she comes to me,

still,

a healing spirit soothing all inner strife.

Healing

Rain comes, bringing with it buried memories,
as I listen to the crack of thunder.
Drops fall on my face while I wait out the storm
and let the pounding of the surf drown out my thoughts.
Afterward, I remain, as mist rises to cover the passage of time,
healing wounds.
All that was stolen slowly returns, and I take control once more,
letting troubles float away on a wild ocean breeze.
I turn to you and offer my chilly hands, and return your bright smile,
as we move forward to our future.

Perplex

A word so poignant strikes my heart
And silently, I'm rent apart
How did this happen? Who am I
To say that what you say is lie?
My mind spins, and so suddenly
I'm falling down into my soul
My heart churns, ever sullenly
Oh I was never whole

Your patronage was pleasure while it was
Your words, a tear within the crimson sky

Is apathy only a name
For how I shield myself from pain?
Romanticism, but a lie
That leaves me here to die?
Empricism, only used
So that I seem to choose between indifference and diffidence?

So aptly named, what is it to fulfill a self-made name?
As an evanescent memory
The sun so slowly sets into life's sea

Rolling Back To Moss

It is a peculiarity of Love’s mossy light
that once, hapless rocks drowning in their days
would be overthrown by Love’s destructive plight
and smooth-whiskered words its song to soothe
in the belly of the whale its secrets brew.

In the aftermath of glow the pilgrims kneel
counting the bars of its serenading calm
as fire, trapped by beauty, mistakes its zeal
for something more than willing victims choose
and fans condemn themselves to breeze.

It’s nothing, but its something, and tired hope
endures, cradling every Cupid with a wish.
The vapours thin exposing every dusty mote
and pretend or not, all hearts will sometimes need
the mercy of their first and final love, never dimmed.

A visit, spectral angels cavaliering through the night
bringing blessings not condemned to wane,
flowers falling in love with their own petalled sight
bearing fragrance not descriptive like a name,
all that’s true would only call itself “Increase”.

The spring is fine as nectar to the flower brings
though all condensed and jealous of the Fall,
epic time is taken so all Eternity can sing
and clip the butterfly into shapes more lovely -
what delicate work! When love begins it’s sigh

far from where it once stood burning, a lush
constraint remains where freedom’s glove is lost
walking down its harbour, past the moveless thrush
and the crow all dead from drought, the rain will cease
and Love will change to tear, rolling back to moss.

The painter wild, the poet crazed all beyond his grasp,
what jealous combination, what charisma!
That together in a different stage marriage would outlast
the spikes and needles of despairing dim machinery
driving metal into hearts of soft enigma.

Seasons turn and all that makes us sober stays
safely tucked inside Betrayal’s chamber;
Reason roots itself in the soil of Love’s eternal fun.
Its sharp and pearly fingers, shaded from all danger,
can grant us mooned medallions to reflect the Sun.

The devil goes, the angel stays around in secret
ringed in haloed words of beauty’s whispered tale.
The two, not permitted by circumstantial thrall
to enter communion’s sweet redeeming place….
Love supports itself to fail, just to rise above it all.

Somebody Loves Me

Produced 50 yrs ago
My master Pravin Pant Sr.
Felt it was time for my Just Born coop to grow
So he introduced me to some other chicks
Bunnies bats cats pumpkins and
Even thought of placing some lucky stars
In for the heck of it what a day of cellabration
Now he has flipped his lid once again and took a few friends back
Had turned them into lip balms but I don't mind
For they will stay forever fresh on my lips as I speak of them
I been dropped off buildings had been steam rolled over
And each time I bounced back with zest
So please come rescue us from this crazy farmer
Place me in a warm basket or cake or even a dressed table
For I m just a little peep looking for somebody to love

Drifts of Blossoms

Daring drifts of blossoms dance along the water's edge
And count their blessings for Heaven's sake
And drown out a lover's pledge
And the other sounds that two lovers make

Nature's ways harmonize, climb and chime
The wind whispers and moves on its way
Souls search and get lost in time
And find forever and somewhere to stay

Cherries burst and dreams explode
Deep breaths and a sudden sigh
Dangerous curves down a slippery wet road
Twists and turns against a dead end sky

Trees bend into a gripping gust
A grey ghost rides and hides the light
Rain falls into dripping lust
As daydreams dip and dive into night

Gemstones on a shoreline
maladjusted to the saltiness of fallen tears
basted in the din of sunbeam atoms colliding
the neap, a resting time from mortal waveforms
towed beneath the sanded plasma of sinking unblown glass
a final lash, a glinting sorrow, an eternal goodbye
so many facets unturned, a reminder of the emptiness
no shimmer on the barren plains of shore, a reflection
of the once and final aortic beat

Autumns Expectation

Eggs whites strew across the evening sky, anticipating rain

Brown fluff interspersed with white, folding across the horizon

Hints of orange ribbon bleeding through the gaps of blue

Grey smudged along the edges, like a painter's afterthought

Cool breeze caressing my hair like a lover

Finger combing it off my shoulder to expose my neck

Leprechauns leap beneath leaves dancing across my path

Faerie torches speckling darkness like dots before my eyes

I walk in solitude drinking in the smells of autumn

Fall approaches me like a forgotten friend

First hints of raindrops kiss my eyelids

I raise my face gladly welcoming her bequest

Summer is put to bed; contained deep within earth's bosom

Nestled inside the heartbeat of yesterdays blessings

Tomorrow is soon enough to wear my mittens

Today I want to dance freely to the melody of change

Sea Sick

I stand (almost)
One hundred ten pounds
Soaking wet.

Round up numbers
(In the same manner cobras unfold their hood;
How Monarchs, unroyal to a fault,
Bear their false eyes like liver spots)
And reject medical doctors' idiosyncratic philosophies

Repeating: the body, it is ninety percent water,
Repeating: that isn't a credible conclusion--
"No, I'm mostly just ink. Honest."

A phone rings
Echoing in a hollow office.
A pen scratches
And I think "mediocrities."
Walls rush towards my ant-self:

I choke on the pills.

Little Refuge

Little girl goes down to the water.
Little girl climbs up the hill.
Little girl wanders in the woods.
Little girl collects little things.

Creatures and curiosities.

Puts them in her pockets.

Skipping and running and playing at hunting.

Now and then she stops, and rests.

Her every heartbeat,
her every breath,
conspires with the fragrant moist air,
the rocks and the trees,
to forget her home.

There she waits before the sunset.

She waits as long as she can.

Oh, how precious is this place.

Her refuge.

To the sea and the hills. . .
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.

A HAUNTED FISHER

                                       A HAUNTED FISHER

	A hawk - sighted and decided young fisher;
          Traps skillfully, fishes for his wisher;
	Waving and sliding water - hills over;
With howls of 'hurray', grows ever.

		Now a wisher, decrees vessels;
		And fishes millions of dreams and pearls;
		Blunts swords of sun and might of whirls;
The spheres of storms and lightening, hurls.

			A god of holdings turns all to gold;
			Life to moving circular fold;
			Time to scarce diamonds mould;
And occasions to sudden perches for hold.

                    	Possess a paradise with Hedden;
		Breaks brutally into the forbidden;
		Inflows and outflows hidden;
		Landslides and gullies end Aden.

			Fast after flying dreams, unheard, till;
			Fast typhoon tosses, waves, spill;
			Quacks and wrecks whiflashing castle, fill;
Wakes of the storms died and waters calm still.

Now where is the floating tower?
		Flying dreams and manifold power;
Where is the longed Hedden and Aden’s lover?
Isn't the ocean calm blue and tempting ever???

One Peak Moment

Right now
I’m not blaming you…

Pretend I have not had the
Privilege of hearing those
Lines before. Tell me.

Eternal glare on my
Sunglasses, which I wear at night.
Only an annoyance…
Never to be worried about.

When with you, I feel like
An ice pick could go
Through my
Ear and into my brain, and I’d experience a similar
Reaction. I’d like to

Go drink cheap wine and
Lay in the back of my truck, on an old mattress.

And sing—
Sing anything—as long as it’s
Santana…or soft Slipknot…

THE INNER VOICE OF MARK BIRROS: Excerpt from epic poem.

With that invisibilty of age
I can fly my life like a kite !
Uninvited and unseen,
albescent, grey, you know what I mean,
( not the first flush of youth or strong,
the young forget that we were young, )
hold on to that, the string of that
to grip the meaning of it
as I grip the iron balustrade
along the miles of esplanade ;
think the century's wise men are ignored,
each lamp a light, a sage for each lamp.... ...

Drawn to the Sailor's Arms, her kegs
the weight of years upon the legs,
for whispers round an inglenook
where galaxies are in the glass,
to swap a tale, another round,
a golden fleece, a crumpled map !
Or waft around for words, like smoke
along the butt - ends from the tar,
or vanish down into the draught
if Alan Watts is at the bar.... ...

Below, where gulls quarrel in kelp
no harbour there need shelter me,
no life - boat slip to cries for help
need bring my spirit to the lee -
I hear the past with all its murders,
the wind wail through the rusting girders
yet still am I, free to fly with you
who lean against the railings, too !... ...

The world may seem to come in bits -
let nonduality begin ?
Come celebrate your opposites
for all depends on loss to win !
Tribal culture in your face -
to win is everywhere you turn,
if God is losing all the time
then will we ever, ever learn ?... ...

'You'll win' he said, 'its in the bag',
out on the point
what can the mindless wind do
but wave the flag?
Missing the point forever
signalling our nascent spirit.

And the voice said
'raise your head when the night is cloudless
and tell me who you are subject to,
remember the truth of your own story
as your eyes take in the glory'.... ...

Full to be empty, empty to be full -
do you hear the paradox, do you feel the pull ?
I do not mean to be patronising,
have I asked you too soon ?
Do you see what I mean when you gaze at the moon,
when the full moon, lifeless is full of light ?... ...

I sit upon the lobster pots
that decorate the harbour wall,
if you come a little closer
you can see me in the hall,
if you do not hold the key-
Mrs keepings locks the door,
I'll be looking out to sea
after eight but not before.... ... ...

Lo sea end-o

Alas my love my dying day
Will bring sweet whispers to my grave
Recumbent in your evil snare
Snakes will tempt you, strip you bare
Careful now with tender lips
They will persuade those dormant hips
To move in places dark unknown
And when let go, will be alone

Alas my love my will dissolves
In oceans built on dire resolve
Swept away in winds disguised
Then crushed in waves, drift and died
Venom ruins your perfect veins
Skin retracts, reminds disdain
Then mirror with its clever eye
Reclaims its sympathy, yours and mine

And Laughed and Cried In Salty, Foam-Crests
In Liquid-Blue, Up To Our Breasts …
On Bright, Shine Afternoons …
Or In Fog, Floating In From Coasts, Subdued

And The Men Rolled In … Like Ocean Waves
Playing and Surging, Roaring Out Praise
Buoyed High, Bobbing Up and Down
So Quick, So Strong, The Men Swam …
And Women, Wet in Swimsuits
Carried Away Corals and Seashells, As Loot

Putting Them To Our Ears, Everyday
To Hear What Echoes of Sea, Had To Say
And On Soft, Crystal Sand, Pearls, We Did Lay
As The Men, Rolled In … Like Ocean Waves …

Catch the Drift

Steal a bit of me.
Because I'm handing out precious treasures
In return for love.

Don't believe,
Just carry on
Through the pain
The confusion,
And the rain that burns in your eyes.

I get lonelier
And emptier,
I think.
But emptier still.
There's no magic eraser
To wipe out my unknown existence
And the scars.
And the screams,
There's no magic eraser.

Drift like a corpse
In the sea that's the world
Pale,
Lifeless
Heartless.
Till you sink to the bottom
Or get devoured by the monsters
Flesh-hungry monsters.
There's no magic wind
Coming to take you to the sky
Where those angels look down and smirk.

So carry on.
Move on.
Till you get your strength.
Recover.
Hold on to this.
There's beauty the in abyss too,
Barren as it is.

Searching

I had been there since twilight
I was waiting for the moon.
But now it’s well past midnight
And for hours I sang those solemn tunes
That brought the gods to my ancestors.

In this pitch dark
I seek the moonlight.

Floating on a raft
Miles into the deep into the ocean.
This night is cold
My body is old,
But my thoughts are bold and defiant.

I long for the warmth of oil lamps and incense
I want to believe in a Savior
Or to believe that my spells have power.

I am here:
Alone and naked;
Weary and tired.;
Overwhelmed and freezing;
Within inches of death or eternal damnation.

I live here with nothing more
Than reason and the stars.
I sleep under the cosmos—
I sleep with my doubt.

My cathartic cries!
My body trembles in ecstasy and sorrow
As I wonder what I’ll see tomorrow.
Because my mind grew wings and flew away.
But my heart is still on this raft.

I jubilant; I am petrified.
I am free; I am mortified.
There is nothing else here but these dark skies
The icy sea and a cool sea breeze
And the beating of a billion hearts.

Sunrise

Sunrise into soft spoken clouds blankets thoughts in a uplifting shroud. In the moment you easily sit taking in every bit of the last of the world waking from sleep before your thoughts return to the deep. The ocean below as it ebbs and flows, it churns just as your mind trys to hold, onto the moment that gives you some peace. Before the day starts and returns your grief, of the hard life you led. You can still feel the dread, of how things used to be, the way your eyes used to see, the love the life the memories. Its time to get up and walk away from the morning and into the beginning day. Put that smile on your face, head back into the rat race. The day has begun with the rising sun

Life Lessons

Life Lessons Fate has many roads It's funny how they intersect You might know where you're going But can't know who you'll meet You can't see all life is showing While only walking down one street Don't lose your shoes, you'll need em You blues, the news will feed em So walk your talk and lead em Before there's no more freedom Some roads run into an ocean Sometimes you have to swim If you're lucky, you can sail But watch for clouds to form Even hull and mast can fail If you're not prepared for the storm You test the waters, and the waters test you Seas beg for flying stones sometimes At times, it's tempting to oblige But the waters move aside for violence The waves walk away where sinking stones land To stare at the surface in stationary silence At the tides' reasoning, and your bloody hand

a speck of dust

a speck of dust
on the surface of life
that's all we are
that's all we are

i swear
though life may cause u strife
that's all u are
that's all u are

a tiny atom on a
dinosaur
that's all we are
that's all we are

a little black dot
on a giant white star
that's all u are
that's all u are

-and as the tide rolls out
u see what u can see..
our sister moon reveals
the bottom of the sea-

-they say there's nothing new
beneath our father sun
you're just a speck of dust
but you're not the only one.......

Repentence

Swimming perpetually
In the sea of tears
A heart now yearns
To rise from its fears
to scale those dreadful waves
It wants to be cleaned
To be as it was
when it started beating
 for the first time
Pure and sacred
Full of spiritual layers
It wants to see through
the harsh realities
To reach other hearts
To know ,the Divine
To know, itself
In search of everything
inside and outside
It swims perpetually
in that sea of tears…

Ripples in the Sea

When I see this Moon and gaze deep into the stars,
My mind wanders as I search for where you are.
Looking up, looking down, this enormous Sea is where I can now be found.
Standing alone at the Ocean’s edge and hearing its roar,
My heart pounds and aches for so much more.
Gazing deeper and deeper out into this vast blue Sea,
I can gather myself with this soul that was given to me.
Ripples in the Sea are all that my eyes can see.
One by one they collide with force to touch what was given to me.
Infinity with the depths of this Sea,
This is what the Moonlit Ocean conveys to the truth inside of me.
Standing alone and afar from the depths of this Sea,
Ripple by ripple captures the every breath that I have inside of me.
Oh how they carry every single thought away from the insides of me!
Reflections of our Moon spread across this glimmering Sea.
Endless and endless ripples!
This vision I know I will forever see!
I hold my breath and carry a true smile,
Searching for that last ripple to reach its hundredth mile.
Alone I stand at the edge of this Sea,
The depth of this Ocean covers over me.
I wonder and wonder can I truly hold what was given to me?
So if ever in search for that which you know you believe,
Please remember that I left me standing with the ripples in the Sea.
One by one they collide crashing directly into me.
I stand with a force that was given just for this person that lives inside of me.
Come to me! Please touch what is on the inside of me!
Feel what has been given just for the love of me!
So if ever in doubt for that which you truly know you believe,
Look deeper and deeper out into this incredible huge Sea.
The ripples one by one know you will believe.
They touch, they feel, they hear what is left standing out by the Sea,
And that my friend is the life that God had already chosen for the soul that lives inside of me.

Bitter Sea Spirit

A sea made up of a million tears...
Drowning whatever comes near
The forgotten and broken soul.
Bitter spirit
Pushing away
The ships of friendship and love
With waves of rage.
Erasing history
And throwing those into a cage,
To make them see how it feels
Being in such inner pain.
High tides flood the land
Never has the bitter sea spirit felt so grand
In destroying all those who had a hard time
Trying to understand.

S.O.S.

He loomed large, his white t-shirt bulging,
his apron hanging off an impressive gut.
“Keep stirring,” he said,
slapping me on my back as he wandered off.
Over his shoulder, “Just keep stirring.”

The pot loomed large,
with an equally large wooden spoon.
I stood on a chair and stirred.

The white gooey matter didn’t look like food,
 but it smelled creamy,
with a hint of something else.
The spoon moved easily in the pot,
and I felt it slide across the bottom,
and saw the liquid well up.

I began to sweat, first from the heat
and then from the work of stirring.
Was it my imagination, or did
the spoon move more slowly now.
I gripped it with both hands,
and remembered his order:
Just keep stirring.

I imagined this pot, this goop,
sloshing inside a floating metal box,
thickening as hundreds of hungry young men
in blue and white waited patiently to
clog their guts or,
clutching a pitching rail,
empty them.

I weakened, I think,
as I struggled to move the spoon.
It felt like hands were gripping it,
preventing me from stirring.
I pushed with all my strength,
knowing that the white paste would brown,
then burn,
if it stayed on the bottom too long.

My adolescent body began to fail, and I called out:
“Help! I can’t stir the pot!”

In a flash he was back,
dumping gallons of milk into the pot,
the paste immediately loosening
its grip on the spoon.

“Thanks for your help,” he said.
“I’ve got it from here.”

Under The Waves

Never quite in my grasp,
just a little out of my reach.
The sweet relief from life,
it lapses away at my feet,
pulling and pushing.
An irresistible tide,
waiting to drag me under.
To a world inside.

Impossible becomes reality.
In this new world under the waves.
A world that evades me,
even as I dive under the waves.
I plunge deeper and deeper.
The very world I craved,
turning into a nightmare.
No longer evading me.
impossible becomes reality,
as i struggle beneath the waves.
now the world of light,
to far from my reach.
The fears of the world,
now the tide around my feet.
Pulling me farther into the deep.
Creatures once pure and alive,
pull me to an impossible grave.
I struggle as if all of it was real,
desperate to escape.
Such an impossible reality.
The light fades from the surface,
reality now impossible.
in such a mad world,
lying beneath the waves.
I lose the game,
as the world is just inches from my reach.
I let go of hopes of the world,
of the pure world,
that lies somewhere beneath the waves.

I awoke on the beach.
Peaceful sleep,
still a stranger to me.
I gaze into my mind and know,
That that night,
I'll not again,
dive beneath the waves.

Some Sea Calls My Name

Some sea breaks in foam rushing around virgin shores made new by every wave and yet some see nothing but water and sky while I see you which is everything but me yet including me too when I stand in your shoes Some see melted hearts singing as one throughout the night sailing from Jupiter to Mars in the span of one kiss layered in as many dimensions as their imagination can dream but I see you standing naked in the sunshine on a tranquil beach midday your ankles surrounded by foam that takes your breath away Some sea calls my name seducing me to walk on water like a child is drawn to birth but I worry how to make those steps unlike the child following her canal I misstep because I think while my former self small knew the way without worry and hence I fall through the waves the mountain in my path does not move and a mustard seed is too large to contain my faith

Two male Cardinals in the running rose
Their beauty on surroundings impose
Thoughts that Spring will come someday
And bring with it life to all that play

Like little boys who climb trees
Tiny girls who swing with ease
So different are they but both love to play
All the day in the wonderful sun's ray

At Wick's End

Candles in rock pool...
Water like the deepest sea...
A stirring began.

Two hearts turn to flesh.
Angelic auras ignite
Infatuation.

Silent, holding hands...
Yet full of words afterwards
Sent in love letters

With upside down stamps,
Scented poetry pages
Drip unfailing love.

Charismatic speech,
Uncommon romantic deeds
And fantasies bloom.

Unconditional
Promises prematurely
Penned with shallow love

Melt souls like soft wax.
Formless objects of desire
At wick end's dead flames

Reveal the candles'
Mistaken identities-
"I thought I knew you's".

Reality lights
On the still, stagnant pool with
Ripples of "you said's".

Glowing nimbuses
Form the rolling thunderheads
And vapors of rain.

Soft shoulders turn cold.
Tongues set on fire with Hell's rage
Turn indifferent.

Two hearts become stone,
And the first visitation
Evokes hurt and hate.

Endangered peace talks
Precede a trail of tears to
Extinct promises

In boxed up letters
Rubber banded together
In a hidden place.

Just a Kiss

Perhaps it was just a kiss
warmer than your soul remembers
in that moment's comprehension
but no doubt only some dim fraction
of your inner light unbound and undressed
where you are entangled
longing to be entwined, forgotten, and lost
adrift upon the sea of no desire without direction
lingering there until the sky becomes sunset
sunset becomes night
night becomes dawn
and dawn becomes day again
born anew a thousand times
each time unique without parallel
perfect
wrapping around your own reflection
as your shadow consumes itself
in the darkness of your own light
and in the light of your own darkness
you become one without separation
floating in yourself
a salty sea within a sea of clouds reflected in an eye
each folding into the other
oozing slowly like molasses
or running fast as heavy liquid gold
birthing out of each part of the other
and diving back into the same blissful abyss
a continuum of sighs
layered over in a divine skin sliding
like silk across a warm lake of fire without flames
screaming or silent
in motion or stillness
ever changing but always the same
never really new but always fresh
you reach for the finish that will not come
but eventually slice yourself apart
to become two again
two so you can see the both
and comprehend the beauty
of having been one
and the desire to be that again
perhaps calling this love
you might forget it is your essence
and nature

Devoid (Entry for the March Madness Contest)

The March of Madness has begun,

revolving revolver of the twelve suns.

The pigeons stamp their feet in time
                                                              ("I knew this would happen,"

and ants begin to sing in rhyme.

The winds of March betray the truth,
                                                              (Wasted chances, wasted youth.)
the shuttered empty carnival booth,

snapshots of childhood on Polaroid film,
                                                               (Hand-worked pots exploding
                                                                            in kilns.)
faded colors, images dim.

The March of Madness ends it all,
                                                              (He swings at the third
                                                                    strike-out ball.)
when rivers stop and mountains fall,

and all that's left is the tormenting beat,
                                                              (Everything lined up,
                                                                       perfectly neat.)
as we cower to hear the marching of feet.

Perfection in the Sky

Some days you see perfection in the sky
and it can bother you that that perfection
is not within you

Some days you look up to see dirty buildings and filthy air
and you wonder where the beauty is
and if it really still exists
and you realize the outside does not match the beauty
desired inside

Some days the sky is gray and rain falls in relief
And its in these days that you are in peace
because whatever hindrance that you keep pent up
is somehow comforted by the sky's release
And that part of melancholy
can just be

...And it is in these days
when you are wrecked and cloudy,
that particles of hope condense
ready to rain joy upon you,
because you know that in the morning
bright blue will once again gleam in your eyes
and the air will breath of relief
and rainbows will speak of the promise of life
and the perfection you see in the sky
will spill straight into your soul

Atmosphere

Crisp and penetrating
is our atmosphere.
It blankets the trees with no remorse -
their only opportunity for survival lies
in the roots that grasp the ground.

The bushes and flowers
have no hope of seeing tomorrow.
Their foundation is a needle trapped
in the mighty sea, that falls
endlessly further into it's
darkened depths,
forgotten.

Rebellious Child Of The Sea

Rebellious young child of the sea,
Why do you always flee
From admitting yourself wrong,
And still letting your heart be filled with envy and pride?
Why do you glide away
From friend to friend?
Seems like whatever you do will always end.
I hear you are rebellious against His Word
And that you allow astrology and deep intrepretations to be thy guide.
Everyone says that you are just that way,
Because you believe you're forever a child,
Yet contradictingly,
You say you're a child of The Lord,
If so, why are you some times impure and insecure?
Thy answer is, "I am free to be what I want to be..."
"For Jesus' salvation is for everyone including me..."
"Although I run away, my soul clings onto friends and misses them dear..."
"I'm usually not myself around others, because I have one small fear..."
"I pray every night, asking for His forgiveness and loving light,"
"And I also have this continuous inner fight..."

She sits up high, up on the horse
And sweeps her hand along the coarse
White hide sticks to the hand of hers
Gently bounces, dressage, no spurs

Arches her back, her arms out straight
Trots along the length of the gate
Her body moves, one with the horse
Flow with the movement, with the force

Hair tosses, begin to canter
With grace she rides, grace rides with her
Hold back the reins, the horse he slows
And from their mouths, the breath it blows

Remove the saddle from his back
Carry it to the barn and stack
The warm horse-sweated saddle down
Tired smile, no room for frown

In that beautiful mouth yours
Like oceans crashing on the shores
And your eyes, they steal the sunset
Or the sunset, it stole your eyes

A SIMPLE ACT OF MUTINY

A SIMPLE ACT OF MUTINY I was a mate among a crew, it was in my younger years when I was raw and restless and served aboard a privateer. I stood accused of mutiny, I'd called my conscience up to arms and tried to commandeer my ship away from certain harm. The captain was a madman, he had us in desperate straits, war winds blew against us and we sailed a sea of hate. Though I was bound before him, I could see too he was chained to a sorry sense of duty that had driven him insane. I knew his orders came to him from a high command and sensed upon his shoulder a hidden bloody hand. It was plain that dark intrigues raged above our ranks and no matter what did or said I was to be outflanked. He made his case against me, as I stood before the mast and I said these words in my defense before my lot was cast. "It's not an act of mutiny to call your conscience up to arms and try and commandeer your ship away from certain harm. I will not pull upon an oar that will row this ship off the edge or eternity and into history's crypt. and by no authority will I unfurl a sail that will blow us to extinction in the crosswinds of this gale." I was ordered set adrift and went without a qualm though the sea raged about me the storm within me calmed. It's not an act of mutiny to call your conscience up to arms and try to commandeer your ship away from certain harm.

Exhalted

I saw the Sun and the Moon take a stance in the universe.
And an unknown Star placed over them was put in charge.
The whole entire inhabitants scattered themselves at large.
And all the lands and seas became separated by a diverse.

The Sun Shined brightly in the west never to set in a curse.
The Moon gleamed fully bright to the east as the surcharge.
The door had been widely opened and many came by barge.
The stress was great because the world went into a reverse.

Fate and destiny was being dished out like a deck of cards.
Skies lit up and the Stars came back out like never before.
And the palm trees took up to the seas like standing guards.
And from this stemmed growth from that one opened door.

The Sun and Moon are exalted above and beyond you all,
And so is the Star in charge of those that flaw in its thrall.

Caelum Noctis

A sea of seething, frothing sky
Condensed, concluded by the night
No point of reference, and no self
Can lie undrowned in these soul-wells

A faded light
Yet fades from sight
Is lost within the self-same rain of sky
The misty veil that shrouds all earth tonight

The sea of tufted, densed elixir
Floats beneath me as I see
The earth now fade forever from my sight
As I rise, and rise both from and into night

Time

The cadence swells in the starlit sky
The light still dwells when night is nigh
That one last ray that lingers long
Fades with majesty; is gone.
One last kiss goodnight
One more dawn tonight
One more time

How can I resist my nature
How can I give in to sorrow
How can I rejoice
Be sure that all that I have felt
Will be beautiful tomorrow

In time, all fades to gray
In time, lost to the wave
In time, distilled and saved
Salved by the mists of time
Perfection comes to time
One moment, stretched into eternity
One moment, 'fore the day is gone
Will last, will linger on my tongue
As I see

That there is nothing left to say
That there is nothing left to do
But to observe
But to perceive
That ray, falling deep into the starlit few

Cast into the colors of the night
Falling on forever out of sight

How?

Do I dare to taint the moment?
With one thought, my heart is rent
Forever from the prism of my tears
The night reflects into the ancient years
By perfection sent
Into eternity
By a crystal cry
A moment
   meant
       in me

The thrill of beauty in the wave
The sea that swells, the sea that saves
The waves that lap against the shore
The waves that, depthless, are no more

The moon that rises casts a light
And in the water is a sight
A billion, billion nothings that appear to me the sky
A shadow of reality that would but be a lie

To see the points of light
My eyes rejoice the night
But in that shadow, in that plane
So phantomed once, I see again
And a moment now is shattered
Into a thousand fragments at my feet
As I see
   the end in it all

Ah, the night will be the night
And the sea will be the sea
Until the question bears
   and drowns in me

Poseidon's Child

I long to breathe the ocean air
and feel the sea breeze in my hair,
I long to sit and watch the tides,
the ocean waves that mesmerize.

To see the ocean's colors change
as storms roll in, dark clouds and rain.
The gulls embrace the rising winds
and so, the bird ballet begins.

Angry waves now rear their heads,
the ocean swells like molten lead.
At dawn, the sea is topaz-souled,
with rills of silver, crests of gold.

The twelfth house rules my sun and moon,
my eyes the hue of lost lagoons,
Poseidon's child, I need to be
where I belong, beside the sea.

Holy Crap
Another year slips away
Put on like 30 pounds
Pertty hard to take off
You see I like sea food I see it and eat it

Now with muse in hand
Even Jenny Crank has stepped up to the plate
With how to shed 14 inches off waistline in 1 week

You first have to eat 2 bars of exlax chocolate of course
Even choke down some of grannys castrol oil
Ass will be sore for a little while
Remember though the box and bottle does say warning

Desert Moon

Created, desolated, resurrected and even in reverse,

You are a transformation under a Sun drenched day.

Beckoned or heralded you climb above a beaming ray,

Bristles of your hair shall glow and many are perverse.

Shuffled, hurdled, corner-stoned and even immerse,

You are a salvation upon a Mountain leading a way.

Stripped or naked you run below an endless cache,

Light inside of you shall outpour so all will disperse.

The collectors shall find,

Lost on a course in time,

Many stranded or behind,

Many with no unjust crime!

Jacked up, a ripped off, a maniac or just downright a true blue loon,

Still remaining is a red flaming shield up under a sacred desert Moon.

Miskó Ki'zis (Red Sun)

I have been born to a red mother shigo red father
Underneath a massive cowboy hat
Beneath a weeping tree of willow tresses
Below the soft eyes of a red sun wilting
Submerged is my heart, my soul in red blood
And yet . . .

I have been born with the gift of a wabayshka voice
Carried on into the day by a rolling pen
Held tenderly throughout the evening
Cupped quietly across the sea of darkened night
Hugged tightly inside the morning kiss on my red skin
And yet . . .

I have been born with cascading mukaday hair
Flowing brown eyes shaded with a breath of black
Falling lightly across my skin a whisper of browning
Subsiding as brightly as yours is my smile that shines
Sighing inside with a quiet mind red as the twilight sun
And yet . . .

I have been born with a mind as white as snow
Within this world of yawning full splendid colour
Inside the glowed out gaze of Kooc-hum the watchful moon
Amid a washing cast I have been swallowed
Among a sea of wind hailed across the earth of my kindred kind so red
And yet . . .

My people still call me mishimin under my red stained tears

Echoes in the Mist

i follow forever along the forgotten shore
searching for someone

that I once knew before

images of misty vivid blue
are only shadows
of what once was me
and what once was you

searching in sentimental sands
strolling along the sea-kissed beach

holding hands
that are now out of reach

images of cherry red
are now only love stories
playing over and over inside of my head

i chase seagulls into the breeze
i remember days like these
when you were here taking me to my sandy knees
and we were more
than salty shadows dancing to the music of the open seas

familiar footprints
follow echoes into the mist
longing for luscious lips
that I once kissed

waves crash and seagulls fly
footprints fade and run away
shadows splash as lovers wonder why
echoes in the mist are the only things here to stay

Vessels

Though the crease begins to crumble
These old pages still run blue
Currents pulse beneath the surface
Pen-leaked ink that bled your truths
Pen-spun words that writhe like veins
Under skin and paper skies
Cold to touch, crept through your core
Settled clear in frozen eyes

So I’ll read you like a book
And I’ll write you pretty lies
Just to fill the empty space
That’s revealed between the lines
Won’t you move a little closer?
Let it spill into your ear
The tide of breath that harboured
All the words you want to hear

Well I tried to kiss it better
Blood and bones to fuse the cleft
Bruised and broken, lips split open
From the effort, nothing’s left
So you say that I’m a sinner
Preach of hearts and ribs and fists
Well I may have made the plunge
But you revelled in the twist

Now you’re tearing at your wounds
Sanctimonious with pain
Because it helps you ‘hear the music’
Yeah, it helps you play the game
If I pour a little salt
Will you smear it in your eyes?
Feel its grain twist round your lids
As you soliloquise

About the blame you tried to forge
All the nights you wept and claimed
‘You can’t comprehend the world
Balanced firm between these blades’
No one told you it’s a lie
And the story really goes
Constellations, superstitions
Are that Ancient’s only load

All the pretty rhymes and perfect crimes
You try to hide behind
Well they just serve to remind me
How you once spoke those old lines –
‘Your tongue is as a rudder
Guiding vessels safe through storms
Moving mountains with inflections
Making ripples in reflections
Hollowed hull meets hallowed shores’

Sea and Solitude

Light in abalone
breaking iridescent skin
Know me or don't know me
but by all means, please let me in

stirring swirls of liquid sand
Serve as my deterrent

The Hurricane

The hurricane, so viscous, so violent!
Yes, it must rain.
This force is behind,
This force beyond!
Yet, finally it came.
The winds, clever and dangerously rough,
Please measure this poll.
Dark clouds consume the heavenly skies, capturing ones soul.
With a love so hard, yet, a love much too cold!
Our world now spins, hopeless and out of control!
You are you and I am me,
Together, our climates capture and debate this Sea.
These winds are too strong, our sky so dark and dim.
Stricken with fear, too afraid to release what is deep within.
The storm is here, so grab onto your soul!
Yet, beware! This one is fearless and this one we share.
Scream its name and it shall cry its love,
For it be you, far beyond the heavens above!
Hold your strength with a grip so tight,
That storm will surely break, so where’s your fight?
This hurricane can surely hold its own.
Our little world can and will be shown.
Our damage is as our damage does,
Surely this tiny world isn’t our just and only cause!
You hold that thought and forever we shall be,
True love bound and forbidden to set itself free,
Held within you and deep within me,
This love was meant forever,
One day this you shall see!
This hurricane loves, yet,
It wills to hate,
The forbidden fruit conquered by its very own fate.
Give your seeds, but stand your ground.
Forever in this world!
For once we shall not be lost, but found.

Connected To The Sea

As she read her special book,
She took a deep look
At how the meaning of her name
Matches something the same.

This story
She treasured,
Because it's about her favourite pleasures:
Of the sea and magical fantasies.
She smiles with happy glee
And had always felt connected to the sea.

To Sea

To Sea

I would like to think that
The big, white birds soaring
Over choppy waters
Or the way my camera captures
A straight, bold beam of light
Is a vision of sorts –
A gift from you,
To me.
This vision would say:
	“Hey!
		I’m still around,
Right here –
I linger where our bodies first touched on
Warm summer ground”
I would like to think that
You are watching us,
Now –
The strips of bark have become
Sea worthy vessels;
The children, captains of
Sticks-and-Sand,
They run amok, marvelously
On this jutting peninsula
Just as, once, you and I.
I would like to think that
We haven’t lost touch –
Not really;
You are merely seeking solace in
Strong, biting winds as they
Blow by the dockside;
That you are merely warming
Wings yet too weak to
Fly.
I would like to believe that
The caress of breath on my
Shoulder is you.
I turn.
You are gone.

Winters Adornment

While in the midst of a midnight storm,
I saw the blizzard grow strangely dark.
Never had I seen this awesome form.
That raged placing an indelible mark.
Even though I lived a half a century,
Releasing of power stuck in memory.
Slowly it ceased upon the break of day.

Animal like attitude played all night.
Daylight broke and from my first sight.
Ocellus objects appeared to surround.
Realistic, crystal shapes making no sound.
Nature’s glory of white stood all around.
Making my eyes see buried colors abound.
Evangelical shrouds covered, by the pound.
Now I know what I lost; now I have found.
Truth in beauty, winter’s adornment crowned

For Laura Mckenzie's contest.

Tequila

Pennylane wore shiny cheap
plastic knee high boots
with the pointed toe and
pencil heel.
Stumbling sandy steps
forty miles frim Tijuanna.
She wore a strippers silk skirt,
swishing against pale, thin thighs.
Penny was seducing salvation
in Augusts torrid sandy
impoverished paradise.
Pacific air, pushed up,
wretched rock cliff faces,
blowing her small frame,
tossing sand to mix with
the blow in her purse.
She'd hold her tequila bottled
tight, exposing small
white knuckles
clinging to clear fluid
clutching and encasing the
desert water.
Corrupting, coursing, pushing,
spinning the trapped little worm.
She hated and loved the caged
creature, she liked that
her grasp, staggering step
could control his motion and at
bottle's end,
she could swallow his fate.

A Gift

The sand beneath my toes glistens brightly with hope
As the crisp cool air gently kisses my cheek

The wind softly lulls an enchanting tune
The lull of the waves encaptures my soul

I clutch in my palm
A tiny token of life

A gift from nature
Pure innocent and white

It needs no other
No touch no sound

A pearl so delicate and perfectly round.

Palms by the Sea

Oh this Sea from left to right,
How my mind gathers your visions to my sight.
You clouds stray from over here to over there,
And my lungs fill deep as they gather you into my air.
I am the neutral zone with all of my love that I share
The “Palms by the Sea” give my visions their true light!
In each I can see myself inside of a seemingly height.
The Palms by the Sea are my only solemn oath I fight!
Up inside of the tallest tree I shall surely come,
Your Earth, your Moon and your Sun I shall make them all come undone!
I am you as you breathe my life and it is your love that I shall proclaim in the moment I seize!
Up inside of you I am proclaiming my every single genuine need.
The “Palms by the Sea” guard the shores for my more, my all, or even none!

Water

Wash over me. Just make me see what I've come to be inside this sea of what I've been, 'cause I am what I was and I am not who I will be. Fate is no destiny.

Wash over me. Lose me in your eyes; in your cries for help. I've only ever wanted to know who you are.

And when I know, then will be revealed to me just how much I've missed in my desire to know the fire that has taken my heart.

Who are you?

Who are you?

Who are you?

Don't talk to me. Just let me see what I've been in the past of your eyes. It never felt like a surprise. I have known and I will know. Strike a chord, just regress into my soul as I lose myself inside the sea; inside your eyes inside of me; inside my cries for help.

Wash over me. Don't let me go. Just leave me here while I lose control.

rock, wind

Half here

Half at the

Until she opens
before me
A blue multitude

How can one descried

You really cant

Its vastness starts

Shoes Upon the Sand

Pointed toe and heel so high
she walked along the beach
The surf rushed in with foam and weed
to dance upon her feet
But dreams of things so far away
the wet she did not feel
Pink sunset soft and falling
upon the empty shore
The time has come to leave the day
to leave those dreams so far away
Stepping upon the dunes and grass
the marshmallows wet and soft
Laughing about the walk she took
in shoes of Sunday best
Brought things to mind that mattered not
and knew what mattered most
To do a little living
and wear the shoes to laugh and dream
upon the sandy coast.

Life

Life in a way is like
Being born on an island,
Far away within one of many oceans.
Life is like sailing through
Times of different emotions.

Life itself is like being lost,
Yet you know where you are anyway.
Living life itself is like
Being solely alive: surviving waves
That came in your drifting ways.

Living your life is like letting
The moon and the tides embrace you,
Carrying you up and down,
Even further, so further away.

Life’s always constantly changing
Wherever you float and swim into.
Life in a way can drown you.
Blessed enough to be washed ashore
Onto an island that is empty.

Living through it all
Suddenly turns out to mean
It wasn’t all for nothing.
Living life itself is all about
Learning and eventually finding
A way of defining, expressing yourself.

Never-Never Land

I stare out into this huge blue Sea,
And the waves, well, they just carry me.
My mind drifts so far away,
Because the Ocean is where I lay!
I’m off to never-never land once again,
So take my hand and let this journey begin!
I listen carefully to the Oceans roar,
The waves, well they just help me soar.
My mind relaxes with my day,
Because the Ocean is where I always lay!
I’m off to never-never land on a hunch for so much more,
So take my hand and let’s find new places we can both explore!
I can see blue water with big fluffy white rolls,
Waves, well they just capture my entire soul.
My mind just helpless with my day,
Well, it is the Ocean where I lay!
Off in never-never land I can always see,
A gigantic Ocean covering over me!
Far away in never-never land near the Ocean is where I always lay.
Lifeless in the sand is where I’ll always be.
So take my hand and be lifeless with me in the sand.
Together, just you and me on our journey to never-never land,
Just lifeless in the sand, together you and I and always we’ll be hand in hand!

Fair

Yeah, I’m like an island with no leave
Direction with no destination
A tremendous distance from where I’d belonged so long
Once a deep-rooted tree, exemplary in foundation
Now amputated, indeed from my haven

Once quite fair and desired
This road’s got me withered and tired
And Im longing for the coast in
A tone I’d never thought possible
How the melody of the sea has abandoned me!

Once I dug my heels in and traveled far
Now progress has delivered me hardly at all
If these prints were pods of salt and water
I’d be home alike my mothers daughter

And I’m longing for the coat in
A tone I’d never thought possible
How the melody of the sea has abandoned me!

Endless sea of time softly drifting
Soundless it slowly passes right by
Sand of the hourglass gently sifting
A complete revolution lightens the sky

Soundless it slowly passes right by
Creeping forward on noiseless feet
A complete revolution lightens the sky
Time spins forward as each day completes

Creeping forward on noiseless feet
Whirling days slip right into years
Time spins forward as each day completes
Times gentle hand erases all your fears

Sand of the hourglass gently sifting
Times gentle hand erases all your fears
Endless sea of time softly drifting

Breaking Waves

Softly listen to breaking waves
Crashing ceaselessly o'er your shore
Heaven's gate surrounded by ocean light
Childlike voices echoing in the wind

Life's pace slows quietly
Time begins as time ends without notice
Screaming gulls wheeling overhead
Reverberating our sorrow endlessly

Softly listen before time slips past
Whirling faster and ever faster still
Children become grown before tomorrow goes
Loving and creating children of their own

What once was yours shall be gone forever
Cherish the gifts that have been given you
Wrap your arms around your chosen fates
Follow the path that brings you joy

Softly listen to the soulless wind
Empty heartbeats echoing your own
Lonely flowers shall lie at your feet
Grown children turn and walk away

The Beauty Of The Falling Rain

There is a beauty in the falling
The ringing sound as it hits a copper roof
Performing nature’s symphony
The sheets of water roll down a glass window
Distorting the reality outside
Or maybe it makes it more real
Imagination flourishes in the warped images
Images that bring on new feelings
Feelings of warmth and love
As it cleanses the world around it
The mind travels through this new world
Fantasies of distant forests
Lands of lush greens
Richer than any ever seen by man
Fields of waving grass
A dance that started millennia ago
A dance still performed by a young girl
Dressed in a white flowing dress
She dances in clothes soaked to the bones
The blue halo of rain around a distant light surrounds her
As she hears the music of the rain on the street
She looks to the heavens
To the dark clouds above her
And she thanks the gods
She thanks them for every drop of rain
And she prays for the next downpour
When she can dance again

Ocean of Days

I am just an Empty Chair
Seated in a Sea of Flooded Sand
Holding a Personal and Lonely Vigil
On this Riskiest Edge
Of both Soft and Solid Land.

My legs beneath me are Strong
I cannot allow myself to become Weak
I must possess a certain Fortitude
To not be swept away from Life's Lonely Beach.

Oceans of Days try to continuously pull at me
They attempt to sweep me far away
Like the tides they come sweeping in and out
They assail me day after day
I hold on to my balance dearly
To not falter and get swept away.

They never stop assailing my essence
Their days seem to have no end in sight
They seem to feel completely within their rights
To be completely and utterly obsessed with having
My inner self as their solo obsession.

They keep trying to erode my every thought and prayer
They attempt over and over to sweep me away
If ever I were caught completely unaware
They would most certainly pull me under
To the depths of their neverendings
To the unconciousness of their unending days.

I hold fast to my stability
To my little chunk of solid earth and solid land
To try and stay within my beloved earthly realm
Of timely air and lovely breath and ever inquisitive man.

I am just and only an Empty Chair
Seated in this Sea of Flooded Sand
The Oceans of Days surround me always
I am as an Island in a Sea of Man.

I am all alone in this Ocean of Days
I fight againt the forces that would rule me.
I try and hold on to my Stoic Vigil
On this everchanging Sea of Slippery Sand
On my Last and only Good Precipice
Of what I hold so dear as Solid Land.

I am a Stoic Island
Surrounded by a Sea of Turbulence
That does not care
It does not care
Whether I live or I survive
Of this fact I am fully aware.

And so as I exist alone on this Beach of Life
Wishing to be Seated as Two but am Seated as One
Braving the exposed plight of my disappearing youth
I have seen the Seasons come and then just as quickly go on
Time truly waits for no Woman or no Man.
This is the most evident of Worldly Truths.

I hold on fast to my one and only concrete thought
That my existance should not and only be
Just my means to my eventual and final end
To my Life there should some Meaning be
That there should be something of myself left behind
Besides just an Empty Chair in a Chaotic and Flooded Sea.

The Note

I was corner-stoned by many of you.
The note was dotted with a dash.
But this note was an ultimate smash.
I found a peephole and peeped through.

I found a bird gave him the note and away he flew,
Across the deserts and the valleys he was there in a flash,
Across the rivers and Oceans he made a great big splash.
He made it to the shore, but the note he began to chew.

He passed a timely test,
And his belly was full,
He did not stop to rest,
The note he had to pull.

The bird landed on the Oceans shore,
Singing praises of his rugged chore.

Gallant ship
All hands on deck
I need brave men
To hoist the sails

When stormy waves
Crash against thy ship
Great body of water
You intoxicate me

I worship thee
I drink of thee
Drench in thee

Unveil your power
Of the sea and
Show me how
To master thee

Dark wine in thee
Break me free
My dark wine sea
That possesses me

' The Siren Odyssey

Once, A Time, I Was Accused To Be
Like A Siren of The Sea
As Ones In Ulysses’ Odyssey
but, No … That Was Not Me …

Those Sirens, Lured To Death
They Were Lethal Temptresses
Like Myth of Cursed Lilith
Or Like Real-Life, Eve Transgressed

They, With Beauty, and Beckoning Ropes Hung
Bound, Beguiled-Men in Rose-Blossom Arms
And Spoke with Honeycomb-Tongue
But Whose Hearts, Held Hidden Harm-Swarms …

No … I Should Not Be Compared
To Those, with Honor So Blurred
I Have Only Shared and Cared and Bared
… So, In What Way, Have I Erred ?

It Took Many Years To Be
And Much Salt-Water To Rinse Free
From What Others Say and See
And Drown Out Complexity

Yea, I Do Call, I Do Agree …
but, I Sing To The Brave and Eternity
And When I Pray … It Is Holy
And for A Soul's Safety, Only

Oh Yes, I Whisper, Clean and Sweetly
And My Tone Thrills or Trills So Softly
And My Voice Can Arch With Ecstasy
Or Timbrel in Throes – Dawn to Dusk, Sultry

And I Speak Words, As Perfumed Nard
Speak Words, That Leave A Silken, Silver Cord
Or Speak Words of Double-Bladed Sword
… After All, I Am A Female-Bard

And I Want To Learn and Recite More Victories
And Teach Each Other’s Verbatim-Stories
Discover Each Other’s Verbal-Mysteries
And God and My Lord’s Vocal-Oratories

And With The Moon, As Symbol-Shield of Light
Yes, I Rise To Conquer Oblivion-Nights
I Keep Faith and Courage, In Sight
Aglow for Good-Guys and Cowboy-Knights

I’m A Sensual-Woman, and of Sacred-Things
I’m Emotional, Yet … Aim For Deep-Think and Dreams
Now, Some Called The Lord A Glutton, for Eating and Drinking ( Matt. 11: 19 )
So Some Call Me A Siren, ‘Cause They Want Me To Stop Speaking …

But, Worthy, Be The Ear, That I Speak To
And Shyly Cry and Whisper … My Secrets To
And If Only A True-Higher-Calling, Will Do
Then, I’ll Sound, That Siren, For You …

This Is The Siren Song, You Hear
Not One, For You To Fear
My Volume, is not Too Loud, But Clear
Singing, Avoid Shadows, Avail Cheer ! !

No … I’m Not Some Fish-Tale Mermaid of The Sea
More Like A Lighthouse, Guiding To Rock, See: ( Deu. 32: 4 )
Ever Glowing, Ever Orbing … Audibly …
The MoonBee - Siren Odyssey

Like A Siren of The Sea
As Ones In Ulysses’ Odyssey
but No … That ' Isn’t ' Me …

THE SEA, MY LOVE

I can still feel the sea and the first time my eyes met you,
And when they were first charmed and caressed by your loveliness.
It was when we were young and the sea enjoined us as two.
And all we ever had...were arms to hold and lips to kiss!

Then sometime later I captured you, and you became mine.
And your restless arms and sweet lips were all I ever knew!
And though darkness often came and the sun would seldom shine,
Even when the sea waned...I knew I would always love you.

For seldom did I tell you and few were the times you heard
All the meaning you gave my life--all the joy you still give!--
There, in your eyes, my love, and in every unspoken word,
Even when there were unkind words no lover should forgive!

Ah, that the sea created me for you, and you for me,
And enjoined a perfection no poet’s words ever said,
Proves I love you more than the passionate waves love the sea!
And always will, my love, though the sea has left you for dead.

MESSAGE LOST

This internal conflict
I cannot fight
This is not black and white
This unreasoned spite

I cannot get through
I have tried
This message lost too,
lost in the deep wide

Two forces collide,
the pieces scattered
far and wide
Years to track down what mattered

This restless angry sea
throws its might at me
Waves of emotion
Seething ocean

What can I repair?
This loss of tranquillity
It is so unfair!
Am I losing my sensibility?

Is this damage done?
Have I lost a son?
Has the restless angry sea won?

The lost message,
floating on angry restless sea
It must be me
The things I might have done,
to make me think
Before I sink
Before my son

I cannot get through
He wont let me too
Rising sea,
beating its waves on me

This storm must stop
I am ready to drop
Seething sea,
throwing its'self at me
Waves of emotion
Restless ocean

This conflict, I cannot fight,
peace is a right
This restless angry sea,
upon storm tossed message
that is me

O'er the unfettered waters
Singing in Each day with new psalters.

The banging of the water on the shores

The Night of the Moon

It's the night of the moon
and though it's not in my sight.
The magic will be here soon.
The full moon takes the stage tonight.

I feel as low as the tide.
The dark clouds set the tone.
Watching waves and sand collide.
I walk the beach all alone.

The clouds are fighting the sun.
They can't keep the bright light behind.
Sunset and beauty become one.
Doubt and hope crowd my mind.

Brilliant hues of orange,pink,and red
contrasting with clouds dark and gray
The sun paints a picture before bed
and then takes the painting away.

Splashing way out there in the sea.
Winking stars playfully laughing out loud.
I wonder,how this can be?
The night wont carry a cloud.

Where have all the clouds gone?
They've been plucked out of the sky.
The battle with the sun was been won.
I question not how, only why?

There's a bright glow in the west.
The curtain goes up for the show.
Dancing lights on the water are next.
Slowly rising the moon seems to grow.

Sometimes it's such a spiritual thing.
When nature reveals what it can truly do.
I can almost hear this moon sing.
So extravagant, it must be alive too.

My memory goes back to a time.
When the moon stole the show like this.
I was with a girl that was so fine
and remembered that, that night we kissed.

But my memories are what had me down.
I can't remember too many good.
There was the clouds at sundown
and suddenly I understood.

If I only kept good thoughts in my minds eye
and make all the bad ones just finish.
Maybe then my thoughts wont seem to magnify
what my memory can't seem to diminish.

Out with the bad thoughts in with the new.
I'll fill my head with good memories only.
But it seems that there are so few
that my thoughts might just get lonely.

That makes a smile come to my lips
and I wonder, did I just laugh out loud?
I watch enchanted as the moon slips
across the sky without a cloud.

My mood has changed I realize.
I knew I felt that pull.
Now I know hope never dies.
Hope lives in a moon this full.

Life's sea stones

Some the color of gray and knotty sea green
Smooth to the touch as they rest in waters of seaweed

Some with happy faces clustered in mounds
Some without smiles wearing frowns

Some sadly withered and worn down from their journey
All of them here and gone for a lifetime and a eternity

Some carry a message and a voice to be heard
Rippling fluidly like a poet writing their words

Some broken and scorned and afflicted beyond recognition
Some searching endlessly for their lifelong mission

Some shaped round and bright as the moon
Some shaped like teardrops heard wailing with the loons

Some washed away never to return, then some do
Life’s stones of the sea rolling wildly in the blue

Silver Slices, Fishes Fins

She straightens as she sifts though shells
a parlotry of hollow bells
aside from the ocean that heaves and swells
these are the sounds she holds in her hands.

She shivers in the midnight air
the silver salt on each strand of hair
her heart released from every care
and the toll the world demands.

She never looks behind for fear
of seeing her life too loud and clear
so she keeps the ocean forever near
a souvenir in her pocket....

A moment before these words were written
she flooded the earth with all that glistens
she called to the winds on a whim which whispered
“Flow to me, calm me inside...”

Untitled #151 / An anchor-hold

But before I could enjoy such a moment
I first had to put my sloop into port,
just as the ship of my soul must now
find an anchor-hold, somewhere in
this vast ocean of melancholy blue, so deep
no rope could reach the bottom.

Seaside Sightings

The driftwood, it came in today,
Brought surely by the roaring tide;
It looked so lonely, wet, and cold,
And longed for sun to make it dry

The morning, it came in today
And peered inside my window, bright,
To wake the remnants of my soul,
And wash away the fears of night

The ship, it sailed on in today
And brought a smiling crowd ashore;
They vainly searched for signs of cheer,
But did not bother at my door

The gulls, they flew on by today,
But went on without looking down,
For life kept flowing through the air,
While death lay waiting on the ground

The waves, they fell and left today,
And won’t return until the start
Of coming night, whose weight will bring
A storm to cloud me in the dark

The sand, it sifted by today
And carved a fissure in the rocks:
A warning read by mortal eyes
That life is passing, real or not

The sky, it cried for warmth today,
But could not find a friendly peer;
It only stared across the coast
And found my body lying here.

CHARIOT OF FIRE

Timeless roar of sea..........
Races to run...........
Running with the sun
This could be me

I hear my heart beating,
loudly in my chest
Smooth flow
This running show
No time for rest

So many miles to run
This race not yet won
Not in reach...........
The dying sun,
on this lonely beach

Breathe this sea,
running free
Lonely beach,
the running me,
not in reach

Running sea,
wind lull
Flying gull
finding me,

Relentless roar of sea,
running me
Hearts desire
Chariot of fire
Running sea

The heart inside,
the chariot of fire
Running far and wide,
lifts me higher

Rhythmic roaring,
gulls soaring,
flying higher,
chariots of fire

My chariot of fire,
sound of the sea
Paternal flier
The gentle me

The running heart
The running sea
Takes part...............
part of me............

Riding The Eye

Never felt such trepidation
Lost in black mountains
Crashing over the port house
Suddenly underneath
Blasting through the surface
Into the maelstroms wrath
In power tossing the little craft
Of sticks and tack and glue
Coming apart the brine leaking
Away the hope of six men
Fighting the seas head on
Ranges of breakers smashing
Glass giving way to the Atlantic
Oceans of souls lost within
A watery grave beckoning
Softly fighting for breath
Heaving for a chest full
Of wind with rain rolling
Over the trawler on her side
Racked and stressed moaning
In terror begging to any god
Forgive the ignorance made
Calculating the way home
Where she is standing on the point
Of desperation looking beyond
The edge boiling over
Capsized and taking on water
Filling each compartment
Where I lock my wishes away
From the coast of the Cape
Covering me as a death shroud
Over the eyes of the onlookers
Of the mast lights
Going out the in the final trip
To the bottom descending
From heaven...
I shall protect you

Splendid Grace

She was a most splendid ship,
Moved on the high seas with
such elegant grace,
A tribute to her makers,
The human race....

Yet stark cold waters
Embrace her now,
Broken spine,
Shattered bow...

And little fishes
Her first class guests now...
Rusting iron hulk..
We wonder how....

The sea the enemy?
The sea the Queen?
Stronger than
Whatever's been?

We've much to learn...
Humility first...
Pride and arrogance,
A human curse...

I suppose it took
the sea
Well over a billion years
To be what it seems
A pool of eternal tears

No small feature is this
Upon this singular earth...
How many more such wonders
Did God birth?

No more questions,
No more doubt
It's there before us
It does almost shout...

"All This, and More...
I've left for you...
This sea so deep...
This sky so blue...
So if you doubt
My existence at all
Be prepared to take
The biggest fall!"

Who Am I

What is it like to be alone,
Floating in a ocean,
Lost out at sea,
Would you taste the salty air?
Would you swim the salty waters?
Would your way always be lost?
Or would u find your way home...
What person would you be?
Would you die without worry?
Would you put up the good fight?
Would you sink into despair...
Would you remember your life...
with regret or joy..
Would you find religion...
or lose all you believe in?
Who am I.. who are you?

The Sea and Sky

The sea spoke to the sky and said,
“Join me if you will.
For the beauty of both
Shall entice man
And lure them
Right to where
I want them.”
The sky replied with a no,
“If I help you lure them
They will die without hope.
They will not have seen the beauty
That we truly offer,
That we truly provide.”
“But, we can then control”
Said the sea, to no avail.
The sky exclaimed,
“It is beneath me
To waste their lives.
I provide them sunshine
For life.
I provide them rains
For growth.
I provide them eternity
For when they look upon me,
They will gaze in wonder and awe.
For I am eternal
And that they will see
When their time comes.”
With that, the sea grew rough,
Showing it’s anger.
The sky reminded,
“Churn as you will
But without me
You, too, will dry,
But I choose not to do that,
Unless provoked.”
The sea calmed
And man sailed
upon the sea.

Untitled #50 / A shimmering arc of whiteness

A shimmering arc of whiteness spreads its
eagle wings, overarching and embracing
the sky, soaring into the sunset
If you were not perfect, I would
run after you, down to the seashore, splashing,
yawping to the tops of heaven till breathless,
“TAKE AWAY MY DESIRES!”

“Freeze your nuts off”
What a gray, gray day at Lake Norman
the worst weekend for a first regatta
our sloops were plastic toy boats in a toddler’s bathwater
and we the hapless Lego men
the November wind screamed through my windbreaker,
which could not keep my quivering body warm enough
after three times out wrestling with the lake
the lake! It was the Maelstrom to my novice hands!
and I caught a monstrous cold, nearly vomiting
from the richness of the air in the Starbucks, and
four hours of carsickness on the drive back to Knoxville
Ah, but I would not trade that day for a weekend at home!

THE SEA

It all comes back to the sea
How strong is the spirit...
Restless in me

The sea can take me ,
in so many waves
So completely

The sea, a vessel
In which I travel,
in which I nestle

Soft ripples flow
Clouds above
The sea I came to know

The sun danced on the sea
The moon covered with silver
A restless spirit...
Roaming in me

The vastness of the sea,
in which I roam
Such fluid beauty,
is my home

UPON THE SEA OF MOONLIGHT

My quiet reflection..........
With the coming of the night
My quiet reflection
Upon the sea of moonlight

Upon the sea of moonlight
My journey through the night
There is no darkness to fear
for ,the light of the moon is here

Soft silver moonbeams.........
More than I can dream
Guides me through the night.......
My journey upon the sea of moonlight

The night wind blew.........
Filling my sail..........
Filling me too..........
on my journey's trail

The night wind blew
Far in to the night
The night wind blew
Upon the sea of moonlight

For,the sail never flapped
It remained steady
The night wind trapped
Every gust...........
Every eddy

Witnessed only by the night
The silent crossing
Upon the sea of moonlight

Within all our dreams
We all take sail
Under moonbeams
The journey's trail

The night wind blows
Upon the sea of moonlight
Darkest
Before dawn
Before the sun rose
The coming of sunlight

The dream world
Travelled at night
with the sail unfurled
Upon the sea of moonlight

For some...
The journey never ends right
For some....
Time to leave the sea of moonlight

Your sail, to catch moonbeams
Upon the sea of moonlight
To travel, in your dreams
Pushed far into the night

My quiet reflection...........
With the coming of the night
Your quiet reflection
Upon the sea of moonlight

Found On My Shore

You washed up as a smooth white bone
of concave breadth and marble hone
You washed up when the tide was high
Held to my cheek to feel the sky
You dragged in with the silver tide
a secret to the waves confide
You lost me then inside your spell
I felt to faint, a bit unwell
You salted skin upon the beach
when you were there, within my reach
You played the waves to sweetly slip
in equilibrium to tip
You waited there to hear my name,
to soak the sand in pouring rain
You slept awhile until my hands
brushed off debris of golden sands
You washed up like a Grecian stone
when I was walking there alone
but now I'll throw you past the shore
You're not the treasure I'm searching for...

Adrift

That far off ship,
Just crossed over the horizon,
Heading for an unknown shore,
Has left my sight once more,
A destination I will never see,
For this sea's laid claim to me,
My small dinghy fills,
from holes that ever leak,
Will soon take me deep , deep down,
For Poseidan's decreed that I should drown...

The fear of lungs filling up
with salty sea water,
Of taking my very last breath,
Is in some odd way quite comforting,
For I prefer the fate of death.

ALL THE MEANINGS

I stood on a sea shore
I contemplated
All the meanings
Why I am , me?
What I am here for...

A wave took me away
The thoughts I had kept
Scattered in a wisp of sea spray
Inwards I crept

In to the sea
In to me
All the meanings
Why I am me
What I am here for
Cast from a sea shore

OCEAN WING

Gleaming white....
On the sparkling blue
Ocean wing
Feathers too.......
In sunlight...........

On the sparkling blue
Fresh wind................
Soaring too

A journey, over sea
Ocean wing
What will become of me?
I am still learning.......
More about the inner me......

The sparkling blue..........
So far and wide too
I can find me...............
In this deep blue sea

You are never alone.........
On the sparkling blue
Where so many have flown
Your journey, begins too

Gleaming white..........
On the sparkling blue
Ocean wing.......
Ocean flight......
My heart too.........

The Storm

It comes without warning
Like a fierce tidal wave
Rushing to swallow me up
And send me to my grave.

The anquish, the despair
Flood into my mind
I never see them coming
And no help can I find.

There is no safety net
Life jacket, or raft
To keep me from drowning
In it's destructive path.

There's a fight on inside
A battle I'll try to win
God, make my strength last
To fight the demons within.

For now it is dark
I'm all alone out here
Can't see what's coming
I'm blinded by my tears.

I'm treading water though
No drowning tonight
I'm exhausted from battle
But for now I've won the fight.

No one is ever aware
Of the huge, ugly storm
I set sail thru so often
Always in perfect form.

I wish I could tell all
The stories of my seas
But to speak them aloud
Would bring me to my knees.

The haunting memories
Always sailing so near
Come crash into me hard
Leaving me broken from fear.

But I do weather the storm
For a day, a week, or more
I may be weak and weary
But I've made it to shore.

My reprieve is temporary
I must repair the damage
For I fear another may come
Just as brutal and as savage.

Until then I'll fill each moment
Sharing all the love within me
For one day comes a shipwreck
That will vanish me in the sea.

Sailing

Jesus was in the boat with us,
And a furious storm still came.
He was asleep in the stern
Through the whirling winds
And whipping waves; he rested
As the waters swamped the boat.
It began sinking and swirling.
He slept through our frantic panic
Until I smacked his leather cushion
And shook him and woke him up.
"Master, Master don't you care if we die?"
I yelled with bulging eyes in an anxiety attack.
He waded through the water and winds
To the mast and cried with a loud voice,
"Be quiet! Be still." We stopped wrestling.
There was immediate calm. The squall ceased.
The winds hushed. The waves died down.
Jesus looked around at each of us and said,
"Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?"
We looked around at each other in amazement
That even nature would do whatever he commanded.
What can't this man do? Why should we not trust him.
He had said to us, "Let's go to the other side of the lake."

Death of the Lochness Monster

I once thought I could make it home
Since I laid rope to walk upon.
It rose up high and took my life
And ripped my bowels like a knife.
The groping talons cut my throat
And threw my heart into a boat.
With nothing left but scattered seeds
Each bloodied leg fell in the weeds.
The gaping wound held ragged shape
Rich layered canvas formed a cape.
Thick fluids spread upon my face
Successively close breathing space.
Each tentacle lay down the brush
All sails lay down to end my rush.
I saw a light and I could climb
They led and sang our monster rhyme.
