Notice of Love and War

He woke and saw his beloved asleep with one breast partially exposed

And with his fantastic limp he works his way to the kitchen

He made coffee for her with croissant lathered with jam

Gently he pulled at the exposed women and gestures with the tray

Happily she wakes and with great affection reaches for him

Coffee is second and pastries with jam come close to him

But he is first and the love hits him like the wind

Gently it began and gale force now

He had to lash himself so he wouldn't be swept away

And it grew

She always lay in their position and there was no other

He would mold himself to her and tease her nipple

He came home weathered from the battle and with grief

Friends had been shot by snipers and the heat

He had seen a woman with a basket approach his friend

And she dropped the basket and pulled the belt

The explosion deafened him and his comrade's face is gone

Fragments hit him but he is running to his friend

But the friend lays silent

Gazing to the wetness on his leg he falls

He is deafened and wakes in terror and looks upon the leg

And finding himself in bed she tries to talk with him

But he claim's it's a bad dream and the basket falling

And later...............

The limp was his reminder of that day and he eats the croissant for his friend

As Far As I Can

Sore to the bone
Running on a drop of energy
Just gotta push through
I'll rest eventually

My shoulder has gone numb
But my body feels her weight
As if she's gotten heavy
Since her unconscious state

If I could, I'd stop right now
But who knows how safe it is here
And if I could even start again
I may fall asleep I fear

Soon my body will give up
But I'll make it as far as I can
And hopefully haven isn't too far
And I can put her in helping hands

Walking all day and night
It's hard not to think on past
And any thought I come up with
Has me struggling to hold sobs back

I've kept my ears open
Trying to focus on only sounds
But all I keep on hearing
Is my shoes crunch on foreign grounds

Bang. I hear it softly.
So far but still so near.
Bang. Another gunshot sounds
And I've collapsed in fear.

I close my eyes but another goes off
This time in a memory
And now I'm filled with rage
At how repulsive humans can be

My thoughts turn to my baby
Slipping off of my shoulder
I set her down and examine her
Bloodstained gown and skin colder

My worst nightmare but it can't be true
I listen in for her sweet breath
No. No No. No No. No No.
What's this silence? This isn't death.

This time I don't close my eyes
I see a sight that makes me sob
Memory of the last I saw my wife
And now my baby's with her mom.

Each one of us left covered in crimson
By a monster, a gunshot, a blow
Their death is the death of me.
This is as far as I can go.

Weeping Widows

Endlessly the widows weep
For their adored lovers lost
To their final, eternal sleep;
This is wars cost.

The reasoning for their loss they can’t dispel,
For in reality there’s no protected to keep;
Of this irrefutable knowledge they can’t quell,
Forever floating in their emotional sea they steep.

The loss of these souls is abundant,
Annually growing dismally deep,
To the point the numbers are redundant;
Endlessly more and more widows will weep.

holokauston Page 2 of 2

After the quiet we all have to go
Dragged and carted by the Sonderkommando
To be dumped in pits covered by lime
A race to dispose by it's Human slime

Auschwitz, Buchenwald & Dachau slaughtered
Many a son, many a daughter
Experiments on children women and men
Some aged 90, many under 10

In 45, their end was near, how many alive would reappear
As Russians, British and US troops
Chased the Hun to their German roots
Each camp reached showed it's sordid past
Where millions of me, were massively gassed

In Auschwitz, to this present day
Birds don't fly, no animals play
The reminder is all for there to see
Those terrible days what happened to me

It's 1948, our Nation is born
From histories past, populations torn
To all who survived I wish you well
And our new born world, called Israel

He Left Her a White Rose

Its the morning after the night before
As i leave my new wife, whom i lovingly adore

My orders came through, overseas i head
With my band of brothers, not knowing what's ahead

Married for days, whilst conflict takes him away
Holding sheets where we slept, my memory bouquet

At the bottom of our bed, there lies a virgin white rose
With a note beneath i am in momentary froze

I sit and stare as to what it might say
Knowing this is the day my love flies away

My darling Tinks i leave this white rose for you
Its pristine appearance describes my darling so true

It symbolises you, so innocent so pure
With your love in my heart, i will return i assure

Think of the day, from these distant lands from beyond
For the morning after the night before, we will respond

This virgin white rose, so bridal so pure
You and its safety i will secure, for you to return for our future

The day you come home, it shall lay on our bed
And we will continue our lives, as you have always said

I will go about my tomorrow's, thinking of you every day
And prey that this virgin white rose, never turns deathly grey

A Soldiers Wife

He gets up at 4 a.m, and puts on his ACU’s
And laces up his combat boots
He is my man, this is my life
For I am a soldiers wife
He means the world to me
He is my hero and who I want to be
When he is gone and I am all alone
I have a lot to shoulder
He is my man, he is a soldier
I miss him so much that inside I ache
Sometimes, I wonder if my heart will break
When I cry, I cry to myself, alone
I keep focused and charge ahead
All the while sleeping alone in our big cold bed
He is my husband, and I am his wife
I couldn’t be prouder of his chosen life
Even as I cry
When I kiss him goodbye
I know what he does, he does for us
To keep us safe and to sleep in peace through the night
It’s hard to not hold him or kiss him goodnight
To not hear I love you and it will be alright
It’s so hard living here on my own
But I know that he will be coming home
I cry myself to sleep each and every night
All the while knowing that he may have to fight
Defending our freedom
In some far away land
I know we will make it, because we are meant to be
I feel it deep down inside when he says he loves me
I think of him every moment of every day
And I know he is thinking of me when he is away
He is my man, this is my life
For I am a soldiers wife.

I'm Going Home

,

Lord thank you for this life,
As I have lived a full life,
It was not always as I would have like,
But I lived it to the best of what I could,
I’m going home; Home to the place I want to be,
I’m going home to Jesus where He waits for me,
I have been a long weary believer,
As I’ve been away to long,
I now know what I’ve been searching for,
As He's been there in me all along,
I’m going home; Home is the place I want to be,
I’m going home to Jesus where He waits for me,
I have been and seen lots of places in life’s journey,
Now I yearn for familiar faces in familiar places,
I hear familiar voices calling me to come home,
I see familiar faces looking at me,
I’m going home; Home is the place I want to be,
I’m going home to Jesus where He waits for me,
My time is near, the hour I know not,
I see Jesus' face across the Heaven’s,
I hear His soft sweet voice calling me home,
I can’t wait for my real life to begin,
I’m going home; Home is the place I want to be,
I’m going home to Jesus where He waits for me.

Color Dance

Blood runs red in every race
War bring tears to every creed
Hunger felt by every being
Love desired by every heart

Green envy or generosity
Vengeful snares and forgiving
Nightmares give desires to dream
Dancing twixt joy & despair

Colorful array of emotions
So much in common
Do you see me in you
Your reflection in me?

We are rainbow children
Painting the canvas of life
Compassion sees the art
In the unique dance of us

I Wish You Were Here

I wish you were here with me each day
when the birds announce the arrival of dawn
I wish you were here with me at night
when the stars twinkle and moon shines through
There has never been a time you were not part of my life
My heart feels empty when your not here by my side
Without you here with me my soul knows no rest
It's solemn in the morning and throughout each passing day
I miss you more when daylight slowly fades away.

I appreciate the things that you do more than you know
We need each other like springtime blooms, that grow
In the rain and in the sunshine, all day long.
We've laughed and cried together, through good & bad times
Sometimes now while your away, I get so overwhelmed
It gives me great comfort in knowing this agony will pass
One thought that appeases me, is what I know for sure
You'll take me in your loving arms and I could not ask for more.

I know that even though you are away from me for now
Our love still endures brightly though from afar.
Two hearts bound together, that can't be pulled apart
The journeys we take in our lives, forever to last
Can't be erased just by you're going over there and my love
When you return back to me again one day soon
We'll enjoy lovely sunrises and sunsets once more
So come with me where dreams are born and time is never planned.
Just think of happy things, and your heart will fly on wings,
Forever, in Never Never Land."

The Scent of Water

He was a large soldier, standing well over six feet.
In World War II; imprisoned in the Philippines.
Thousands perished on the Bataan Death March.
They were brutally beaten; starved and parched.

Wanting to give up, during this sixty five miles.
Thoughts of his wife, Helen; her beautiful smile.
They had vowed to be each others help mate.
He would press on, with a slow, painful gait.

Knowing she was praying for him gave him strength.
Tho thousands of miles apart, their hearts still linked.
Their marriage, like the oak tree; its' roots were very strong.
He was a skeletal seventy-eight pounds when he returned home.

When he was certain he could simply go no farther.
His lovely wife Helen became his scent of water.

*This is a true story about one of my husbands cousins, Helen and her
husband. She has dedicated her life to helping find POWS or their remains. She
works tirelessly and has helped numerous families. I am honored to know her. I never knew him. He had gone to heaven before I met my husband.

Grief Enough to go Around

Just like you to make a last minute date,
leaving me a quickly scribbled note,
before tossing aside that broken campaign pencil from last year's election--
I remember you snapping it apart
when you found out your man lost.
I laughed at you peering through your old bifocal glasses,
frame twisted awkwardly,
making you look somewhat frog-eyed.

"Let's see that production you mentioned.
Meet you at 7:30, the Lyric; dinner afterward."
I did an "Oh, goodie!" and left for work.

You never arrived; cell phone going straight to voicemail.
I stared at the playbill, September 8, 2001,
gave up and drove home, worried . . .

The police found me here,
telling me the details in their flat, official way;
three days later, your funeral . . .
a whole world grieves with me
for today American changed,
today, everything changed . . .

WHISKEY LULLABY

written 17th Sept 2013

             "WHISKEY LULLABY"
sung by Brad Paisley and Alason Krass

Just married, he loved his new wife, more than anyone saw
a day after they where married, he got drafted off to war
Overjoyed to finally return home to his bride
he walked in, to find she was in bed with another man
With just a slight second, his heart died
pain overwhelmed his entire soul, he picked up a drink
And started to drink more every day, to try to forget
as time passed, he drank himself to death, with a note "I'll love her till I die
they buried him beneath the willow, as she watched she filled her soul with regret
left to blame herself, she began to drink his memory away
As years passed she slowly drank her pain away
they found her next to his grave, holding his picture as she passed away
They buried her beneath the willow, and they were together again
and the angles sang a whisky lullaby
So when you find your one true love, be faithful and true
for no amount of alcohol will mend a broken heart for whatever you do!

I chose this song for my mother and my father both became alcoholics after they separated and my father passed away at the age of 42years old, my mother still lives but never stopped drinking she will be 58 years old she took off with his best friend from the age of 12yrs old

The Human Seasons: Elements At War and Peace, Part III

                                                                  3.

Wrapped close, in implacable, bitter embrace,
The winter grips the land and holds it immobile,
The cat upon its mouse.

Stripped bare and glazed with stony ice
Ashudder beneath a slatecloud sky
That drops its snow in a hush of crowding dimness,
A white leaden mantle
Is lain over empty fields, piling 'round the trunks of skeletal trees
Standing soberly and waving their bony branches in the frozen air
The twilight days light a world now comatose,
Drawn in against the cold and huddled like
Some invalid giant shorn of all his strength,
Lying stretched half slain across the firmament
Gazing into nothing with a distant blank stare
As scattered carrion birds wheel against a wan canvas,
Waiting.

Those two in their little house circle 'round as well,
Moving without purpose through the events of their lives
As the cold outside seeps into the rooms
Invading their thoughts
To make them tremble
Shaken in the blindness of their desperation,
And though the fire blazes orange-warm in the hearth,
Defending this inside space from the day's deep gloom,
Autumnal sorrows have collected in the silence
And worn their hearts weary with cares,
And thus the spirit's wounds have festered and widened,
Filling with the poison of despair.

Soft sparks the glow of the fire makes in his tired eyes,
Reflecting wild fears that her love is lost;
They dance in his mind, stabbing with a pain
That knows no cure.

Long the time he just looks at her,
This life that chose to be with him always,
And he sees that
Whatever
The hurt that came between,
He cannot bear that she leave him
Condemned to go on without her,
Alone.

Her thoughts for him are much the same,
Though she says it not.
Yet when at last he reaches out across the table
And takes her hand in his,
She looks up, and for one long moment
They two become the lone human pair
In all of space and time,
And in one another's moist crystalline gaze
They read a deep sweet tale
In a language without words.

          Something melts,
                                       And something breaks

In that moment when she gently folds
Her delicate fingers over his,
Looking down again with a schoolgirl smile
Spreading irresistable over her face.

Outside, in the blackness of the star-shot night,
Ice cracks
And waters run clear beneath the snow.

Ourselves

Ourselves

The world is filled with temptation.
The heart is filled with desires.
The eye’s is filled with it own truth.
The mind is on the breaking point of sane and insanity.

We are only human.
We are only creatures, neither light nor dark.
We are only ourselves.

Some wear mask to defeat others.
Some wear mask to defeat themselves.
Some wear mask to hide who they really are.

Here is the point where we must decide in our life where we stand.
For trust and love and kinship of your blood will be tested.

First was the temptation.
Then it sets with desires.
Afterwards either the truth or lies are spun.
And to the last who shall stand brave or break under the weight.

We speak of truth when behind us is nothing but woven lies, and hearts full of deceit.
Can you not see the hypocrite side of us?
Ha! It wounds me to known this, even more that I am one of those.

Take heed and resist or be forgotten with all others.
For in this life there is only good or evil, light and darkness, the possible and impossible.

Such is us.
Such is you.
Such is me.

Our world is filled with temptation.
Our hearts is filled with desires.
Our eye’s is filled with what we wish to see.
Our mind’s is filled with things that can make and break us.

Colours

The detail lowered the colors:
That weathered flag with stripes and stars,
That had crossed so many borders
In declared and undeclared wars.

Young soldiers debark for glories.
The detail lowered the colors.
Old survivors tell their stories
Of comrades who died in valor.

We refused to doubt their honors,
Though causes have been disputed.
The detail lowered the colors,
While veterans were saluted.

To the widows, kind words were said.
The rifle squads rendered honors,
Then respectfully Taps were played.
The detail lowered the colors.

20140625. Note--'colors' means not only shades and tints of frequencies of light, but also refers to to a national flag in a military formation.

For the Fallen Hero

Holes are dug
The tents raised
Men and women salute
As they carry your body away

The flag draped over so graceful
Exhibiting patriotism of the brave
Honoring the risk you willingly took
As we march in silence toward your grave

My fellow comrade, my partner
Forever my best friend
Life for us was just beginning
When it turned for a swiftning end

I felt my stomach tightly churn
When I saw your name on the list
Sinking back into the moment
We shared our final goodbye kiss

Now as they lower you down gently
My heart follows right behind
Though you can't be with me now in body
Our souls will always be intertwined

I'll be brave for our little princess
But I can't promise I won't weep
Watching her lay here with your picture
Cuddling it softly sound asleep

I tell her numerous stories about you
And she tries to memorize them all
But as the years go by it gets harder
When your face isn't as clear to recall

She knows her father is a hero
And not afraid to announce to the world
Oh my dear, how I see so much of you
In the liveliness of our precious girl

I know our parting won't last forever
When we're together as a family in Heaven
That picture is what keeps me going each day
Holding to the thought I'll embrace you again

We will live to make you proud, my love
Though somedays are harder then most
Perhaps fallen but never forgotten
To your life we raise this toast

Journey to War

You are ready to embark on a journey.
A voyage destanation unknown!
Your mind is in a frenzy.
But your worried about the things at home.
Your captain is calling.
The torment your hauling is more than a man
should carry alone.

Your journey is far and frightning.
you dare not close your eyes.
No fret my dear I'll still be here
When you dock your ship back home.

Keep your head low and watch you step.
My praires are with you and never regret.
You made a choice you felt was right.
Your family will pray. Your family will write.
We will be there with you both day and nigtht.
In your heart is where I will be.
To guide you through this war.
Your children and me.

I love my soldier!

Through A Prison Glass

You came unexpectedly, and i was surprised,
you smiled and placed your hand on the glass and cried.
I leaned my head against the glass and told you i am sorry,
i whisper through the phone line, ill start a new story.

You knew i was innocent but you still didn't believe me,
the only person i thought that would stay by my side but you couldn't be.
Mom standing by your side and not wanting to talk,
i got really upset that you came at all cause i didn't want to see you walk.

I needed you, when i was in need,
i was there for you when ever you didn't want to bleed.
I loved you and i cherished you with all my heart,
but before you left your words hit me like a really sharp dart.

You said i failed you,
you cried to me and i knew it was true.
But i needed you to understand me,
but you went your way and upset me.

The glass is now empty and i cant find you even with the fact that I'm out,
i tell you i love you but all you do is shout.
I've lost you for good this time,
so i think i have to do one more crime.

The scrooge in me

The holidays are coming,
My mask it hides a scrooge.

Though I participate in the events.
My heart is cold and blue.
I have no reason to be happy,
Cause its incomplete without you.

Holidays are about family,
Yet ours is torn apart.
Though you are not here with us,
You will always be in my heart.

I hope that you can call.
At work I know you'll be.
I will say my praires at night;
He'll bring you back to me.

This mask I ware to hide the tears.
That stain this face with pain.
You have always been our hero,
Now this Nation will feel the same.

David Meets Goliath

     And David slew Goliath
       The goliath of his cares
A little lad he was in stature
But a giant at heart he is
He steps up to mammoth trials
           His chest with armor bare
Knowing a thrust from this giant
Will through him run his spear
But the giant hearted young lad
Stepped up with lack of fear
He knows his God is with him
                     And naught can he destroy
                      So bravely go he faces
                       Old Goliath and his spear
                        And conquer he did conquer
As with empathy we show we care

I Have The Evil of You

I have the evil of you
Caught in my hands, entangled
Like the arabesques of Eden's vines
Just like paradise, but why should shame remain
Singeing like immolation of Peter's Inferno
These reddish-purple chains convolute myself
as the grapples shoot out from the clouds
both below, above me
The self-lovelust propelling
You did this - these plagues
You drag me down - to your cage
Cadaver Vampire - I am your slave

After Dark

After dark I sit.
Quietly waiting for you,
To come back safely.

It has been six months.
I can't get you off my mind.
You are my one love.

You are my soldier.
You fight for me and my country.
You have a pure soul.

Though you save many,
You also are a killer.
A harsh murderer.

I wish it was easy.
To see it as a duty.
And not as your choice.

Now, it's after dark.
All I can see is that blood.
Spread across the field.

All those poor souls dead.
They were such innocent ones.
No reason to die.

War Of The Sex'es

War of the sex'es
(Gram’s advice to newlyweds)

Shame on all the “Momma’s boys”
Wanting to have the upper hand
So I am asking all my sisters
To arise and take a stand.
Their mothers all have
Spoiled them by granting
Every whim
From ironing their socks
To giving their hair
A monthly trim

So what's a bride to do
To change their attitude?
Just say "forget it pal"
Whenever they’re "in the mood"
Then we'll see how quickly
They will pick up a mop or broom
And wipe the floor in no time
 Chasing you around the room

Boys…it doesn't take much effort
To give her confidence a boost
It takes TWO to make a marriage
Only ONE to rule the roost!
Would you rather be a King
In your castle all alone
Or sharing power with your Queen
BOTH ruling from the throne!

Fired Up

Fired Up

Suddenly slow, then frozen up…My heart began to pound.
My computer means so much to me. It’s my touch to the outside world.
Then my knight came in the door… determined my dragon to slay.
And let me tell you… as dragons go… he can slay anything.

Dragon fire can be hot, but this one was immensely worse.
Nothing at all seemed to work. This dragon was really strong.
Shield after shield fell from my knights’ grip…
But thank God… he never, ever gave up.

Night after night he fought with might and studied his foe with thought.
Each night he scanned every road… for where a lair could be stowed.
His sword swung with might nightly… erasing him from the land.
But still the dragon was able to come back breathing fire upon all at hand.

He knew how to open every back door. He was cleverer than any I had seen.
But steady as a rock my knight and prince… continued to protect my way of life.
Finally, one day, with four new shields and with Excalibur by his side…
The dragon's spawn was slayed one last time, then a miraculous silence remained…

My knight had sacrificed so much time and sleep… that I truly cried.
This dragon was from a far away land where more dragons are made with pride.
But my dear knight is willing to wait by my side… His shield and sword nearby.
Thank you I say with hugs and kisses… For my knight in shining armor, my life…

The soldier, the war, and I

The soldier, the war, and I

Today I am home and thinking to my self..
What would I be doing if I had a soldier coming home to me and my family?
What would I be doing if I was the soldier looking to going home to my family?
And then, I look back at all the years passed since this last war..

Many children have grown to become men, Others have grown to become soldiers
Where would I be if I had gone to the war and fought for my country?
Where would I be if I had gone and came back safely?
Where would I be if I had not gone at all because I was not qualified to go?
Would I be with my family or in a hospital injured?
Would I be standing proud, and laughing with my friends and family?
Or would I be dead, as I never got to come back?

Today I am home and thinking to myself..
Thinking of all of those brave soldiers, children still
Who are out there, suffering.. And some ill

Today I am home and thinking to myself..
How many woman are crying because of their gone loved ones
How many men are crying for their loved and missed ones
How many children are fatherless or motherless, or both!

And at the end I stop. I think no more..
I am grateful for the things I have,
I am grateful for the people who surround me...
And I am sure grateful to never have gone to a war; yet,
I sure appreciate the thoughts, courage, life, and suffering
Of all of those who have been touched by it.

My love my symphony
My Reality
I ponder and wait for your return
To which I worry with concern
It's been far to long this war
My fingers actively write this score
my music inspires hope to your cause
As sleepless nights I long for your touch
Your sacrifices are to much
For your king and country
I wish you could see
That a woman's love needs you
Please keep safe in all you do,
remember to hold my heart in your endeavour
For I will love you forever.

Why the Rose Always Cries

Night after night, she sits down and contemplates
In her mind she knows her loss, but still she sits and waits

He, her husband, another statistic he has become
Killed in a far away land, another soldiers blood has run

Day after day she's taken back, to moments they had shared
Carving their names on a tree, showing teenagers cared

Through green fields of pastures new, season after season
At fourteen years old they clicked, love was a reason

Whilst she paces their family home, his steps gone forever
Killed in a far away land, another life now severed

In her time their kids will be told, daddy's never coming home
For the angels have asked him to stay, just to let him roam

Memories of their pasts resonate within her mind
For she knows she'll find no other, for he was one of a kind

Outside the window where she stares, under many seasons skies
She sits down and contemplates, why the Rose always cries

They Left so Abruptly

They Left so Abruptly

(for the countless South Africans, of all colours, who dedicated their lives for freedom and democracy)

the valiant ones
countless
many known
many more nameless

the truest sons and singers
husbands and poets
lovers and wives
daughters and farmers
workers and sisters
brothers and friends

they left so abruptly
with quiet pride
steely courage
gentle dignity

they left so abruptly
leaving us our tomorrows
brighter
hopeful
filled with promise

they left so abruptly
so that we may breathe
the breath of liberty
the air of freedom
the warmth of justice

they left so abruptly
leaving with us their parting gift

freedom
inkululeko
swatantrata
liberte
azadi
vhudilangi
libertad

they left so abruptly
yet we remember them all
today
in the days that slipped away
and in the many more that we await

they left so abruptly
yet they remain
hewed into our memories
etched in our consciences
engraved in our hearts
they left so abruptly
and yet they endure
with us
within us
now and forever more
