Heaven's furry sheep
Grazing the light atmosphere
Bares blue the sky's bloom

Clouds were made to weep
Not paint portraits on blue air
Trees without perfume

The virtual sea
These Jason's sail, hides nothing
Except death's surprise

The eyes graze the deep
Visions of the mind, what fear
Like frosty waves leap

From the hearts dark sea
The wind of thoughts in rags bring
Logic's cold demise

Love should not regret
The fancy of the heart, wing
It, denying death

For clouds' sheep are dreams
Dream's love are clouds, the blue air
With new magic teems

The Homeless Child

Street lamps still lighted
night has retired and faded
a new day unfolds

heavens rolled darkness
tucked it away for the sun
to give light and shine

in the horizon
a golden beam of sunrise
appears out of mist

in the street corner
a small child still dazed from sleep
awakens and yawns

trembling, feeling cold
he hugs himself to feel warm
morning air brings chill

to his fragile frame
that looks sickly, frail and weak
under the street lamp

for this homeless child
the street corner becomes home
to rest for the night

in a little while
he will move and will scavenge
for his morning meal

from the garbage can
full of piled litters and trash
he gets his morsel

living in the street
has made him vulnerable
life is hard and tough

for a little child
abandoned, uncared, unloved
is there hope to life?

Making My Heart Knock

In your eyes I see
the way you look back at me
it's what sets me free

The way you smile
it's one that lasts for awhile
I love your style

It's the way you talk
and watching the way you walk
that makes my heart knock

Maybe it's your jeans
or your handles that are lean
either way I scream

Could be that t-shirt
it could be the way you flirt
or thoughts of desert

The one I count on
in this life and life beyond
my wife is my bond

Last Leaf On A Tree

(The poem is based on The Short Story of O Henry " The Last Leaf". I was reminded of it while I saw a last leaf in the winter of 2011 while living at Concord, NC)

One leaf left on tree
Not a sound of the sadness
Neither the despair

One leaf left on tree
No undue unhappiness
Neither any pain.

One leaf left on tree
All by itself in the air
Feels no forlornness.

One leaf left on tree
It spends itself in swaying
Breathing in the breeze.

Last leaf not the end
When tumbles down as time comes
Hundreds of buds sprout.

Bio in Short

It's been a good run
To the back side of sixty,
The short side of time.

First Hollywood kiss
Behind a pink crepe myrtle.
Thanks, Patsy Werner.

High school was okay.
Didn't help me to focus;
So, my mind wandered.

Surfed Bonzai Pipeline,
Big waves break into lava.
What made me do it?

Vietnam jungles.
I wondered why I was there.
America lost.

Smoking pot. Stereo.
Good fun in the seventies.
Psychedelics too.

And three wives later,
I finally found true love.
We're still together.

My destitute heart,
Saved by the sweetest angel.
I love you, Sandy.

Sooners are my team.
Most winning football program
In the Modern Era.

I am retired now.
But I have plenty to do.
Golf, primarily.

I've been writing more.
Perhaps I will write a book.
I have many tales.

I'd chase young girls; but,
Girls with a "grampa" fetish
Are so hard to find.

If I am lucky,
I will just drop dead one day.
With my peace of mind.

Yes, made a good run
To the back side of sixty,
The short side of time.

Great joy together...

Hearts now torn by love and hate...

Solution: Divorce.

It all began with "For Better or Worse",

But the words afterward became very terse.

Divorce was the answer she decided upon

As with me she didn't want to go on...

The only other answer was to ride a hearse.

Two people in love end up in court and for a divorce sue,
It would never have happened...had they not said, "I Do"!

haiku fanatics

haiku fanatics stifling creativity laying down the law inflexible minds smothering self-expression toeing language lines simile is out personification too metaphor's a crime icicles are fine as long as they aren't crystal and they mustn't rhyme ripping haiku rules rebel verse must be contained I should be ashamed! wonder if Basho stuck rigidly to the rules observed tradition? haiku from the heart give metaphor wings to soar let the words fly free oops I do believe this is strictly senryu not haiku at all!
After reading all sides of the haiku debate about how it should be written and indeed beyond haiku and into the writing of poetry in general, I really only have this to say: life is not perfect and if art imitates life it stands to reason that poetry cannot be perfect either. I think the writing of poetry suffers from perfectionism and I find that the more I read about the rights and wrongs of writing, this technique and that technique, this form and that form, the more of an inhibitory effect it has upon my work. Life is constantly changing and evolving and therefore poetry should do the same. What is being published today at the cutting edge is mainly modern haiku and free verse with a definite shift towards more rawness and edginess and I welcome that. Life is not perfect and has very little rhyme or reason, so how can it possibly be captured in neat little stanzas and strict syllable counts? And so when writing haiku I will write my own version of it, what personally pleases me and what I'd like to read myself - I've ripped up my rule book. :-)

Holding On Tight

I rise from my sleep
As I look out my window
I see a new day

I hold tight to life
A day's breath is heavier
Each has it's season
Spring mornings are fresh
It's nature's nativity
Full of promises

The summers are bright
Long sunny days and warm nights
Full of life's passion

Fall is one of color
A storm of artistry
Full of achievements

Winters are lonely
Life with a blanket of snow
Full of Forgiveness

Kissing In The Rain

Sparkle of kiss
Pitter-patter of raindrops
Therapy rebirth

Sparkle of rain
Seeking possession--a kiss
Sparkling clashes

Confiding through rain
And after the rainbows fade
Retired in your arms

Simple life we shared
I walked with you in the rain
All the blues drifted

Unbecoming rain
Heeded to lover’s advice
Moments of bliss to come

Bitty diamonds
Showered their naked bodies
Cuddled bright beauty

Gentle rain pouring
Never drifted us apart
Be still in the rain

over 50's; when a bed stops you to support sleep longer.
when your body stops you to eat stronger,

when Dr. advises you to stop smoking if you live longer,
you know the time when value becomes a tease monger.

A Living Change

If I want it then I best go and get it
If I choose it then I best do it
If I want to go somewhere then why must I choose to hold oneself back
If I want change then why don't I try and make a change

I know Im a sinner and far from being a winner
I see my people eating good but me I usually miss breakfast and dinner
I keep looking for truth on the outside when infact I should be looking inner
I know I keep destroying my lungs and my liver

I know life can be crazy for this young man
I know if I want to be remebered I will have to take a certain indvidualized stand
I know I must do what I must and also do what I can
I know this must be some sort of Gods plan

I go out writing with a bang
Im going to go married to this literature wearing a a diamond rang (ring)
Im going to write this *****until it gets sung until its finally sang
I do what I do to make some sort a life living change

STORM COMING African tribal violence

Storm coming, madam
Me-- I’m going up country--
Lay low and stay sweet*

*stay sweet--stay alive

Victoria Anderson-Throop
Nairobi, Kenya
November 26, 2012

Note: Political unrest near Nairobi, Kenya due to election strategies. Polish nun told me that she was warned by a local moonshine runner to hide. Too late. She was pistol whipped by local police who wanted more protection money. Didn’t get the money (it was a free clinic, so nurses had no money) Police beat the nurse/nuns and absconded with the very rare and precious AIDS meds to sell to the hospitals.Free AIDS clinic was forced to close.(Kenyan government does not have free health care for the poor) Nuns are recovering then being transferred to other clinics. Three went back to Europe forced into early medical retirement due to permanent injuries sustained by police and/looters. The care program(education and/or placement) for the children whose parents were AIDS patients is gone. Children have taken to the streets in desperation. Count your blessings.

Deception lingers.
The Lord counts on his fingers.
One two three four five.

Our sins pile up high.
Brim stones unleashes from sky.
The bible explains why .

Humans mystified.
Humans contemplate their sins.
Down crumbling mountains.

Blood sheds blood sheds wild.
Genesis revelations.
brute termination.

End of all generations .
lo lo damnation.

Tornadoes destroys.
A vast grim darkness deployed.
One two three the end.

The son falls on earth.
Lo the earth burns the earth ends.
One two three the end.

Strange or not

People were
Different and
Odd and fun.

People were

That’s not all

People were
And still are
Strange and odd.

People are
People. For
life is life.

Yet not.
Not is lies.
Truth seeps from

Every mouth
Lies, lies, lies
Move, move, move

But somehow
Lies prevail.
Lies are life.

Lies are death.
Lies are homes.
Lies are pain.

Lies are truth.
Yet somehow.
Truth prevails.

Truth is life.
Truth is death.

Truth is that.

 Wonder that controls all life
  The fall of us all

By Gareth James

Details | Haiku | |

Do you remember

A blue Sunday sky
Fluffy white clouds start to sprout
They grow and they grow

The clouds are swarming
Some thunder and lightning
Maybe some light rain

When morning rises
The sky and heavens are fresh
It is a new day

Do you remember
We once filled the noon day sky
Do you remember

The Top

The tiniest tap
Within this vicious circle
Quickly amplifies

And so it begins
Spinning out of proportion
Stopping at nothing

Playing with passion
Lawless, careless, beautiful
Teasing misery

While our lives are swift
The top may move at light's speed
Faster and faster

The force of hatred
Cannot strip it of its glee
Centrifugal joy!

Gravity is weak
Easily disregarded
So much space to dream!

The mighty Neptune
It fervorously dances,
Tangos in the light

The theatric top
Likened to the universe
Spinning endlessly...

A Season In The Sun

A Season In The Sun

Yellowed leaf hang limp
on a branch of the oak tree
its season has passed

It's time for goodbye
soon it will drift in the wind
and fall to the ground

In sweet surrender
letting go in acceptance
the cycle of life

Life spent and well lived
in its season in the sun
through the high and low

embraced by nature
in all its temperament
that constantly change

The coldness of wind
the sweetness of rain pouring
the warmth of the sun

All have taught the leaf
lessons to be learned in life
to live in fullness

To gracefully bear
life in its adversities
in sadness and pain

To always be giving
in its time of abundance
to those who may need

And enjoy its blessings
its glorious days and moments
in all its season

This Land is My Land

Pastoral country
Where folks wave to passers by--
Farmers plowing

Exit 386
Wal-Mart, fast foods, and hotels--
Tourists stop

Modern businesses
Of every type one might need--
The short road to town

Refurbished storefronts
With arts antiques and barbers--
Downtown businesses

Houses big and small
Fill the local neighborhoods--
Quiet streets

State Parks, music fests
And neighborhood barbeques --

Outside of town
Beautiful farms and woodlands--
The rural folks

The river rises
Bringing water to my land --
Children in kayaks

The home of brave hearts
Who understand nature’s way --
King and rattlesnakes

The home of the free
Where people are seen smiling--

Some Kind of Season

Lie for a reason
Lie for some kind of season
Is this a reflux

Look at those who lie
It becomes part of their speech
Which one of you cares

Have we become numb
These cannot be washed with bleach
Where is the virtue

This freedom of speech
Lying was not the intent
Are we beyond reach

The things that we say
When no one is checking us
Defines who we are

He who chooses truth
Finds the seeds of honesty
Which changes their heart

To be credible
We must be believable
We must be truthful

Why Are You Being This Way

Why are you being like this?
Oh how I just wished we could be friends,
But it ain't gonna happen,
Because you hate me for no reason.
Just because I'm not popular, because
I am less than you.
I just wished you knew,
Knew how I felt about,
How I used to like you,
All the things I did,
I was scared to talk to you,
Then when I found enough courage,
To talk, you block me out of your life,
As if I never exsisted.
Maybe I never exsisted around you,
But how can you be so oblivious,
And miss that I needed you?
Why oh why can't you see this pain?
Do you care?
Do you wish you could know me better?
Do you ever think of me at least once?
Do you care wheather I live or die?
Of course you don't because,
I am just dead to you,
I am just a pity ghost to you,
A horrible nightmare that won't go away.
I slowly die inside,
From all the times I've cried.
(I've cried for you.)
You look at me,
With your beautiful brown eyes,
You look right through me,
Like I was never alive.
I am invisible,
I always will be to you.
For some reason I knew,
I would always be like this
To you.
I wish you were missin' me
Like I was missin' you,
But no matter what I do,
I am always dead to you.
Someday I hope we can be friends.

I miss you so much,
This aching in my heart is so unbearing,
It feels as if my heart is shattering,
And the only thing that can fix it,
It seems is your words, and your deep, crisp voice.
I miss you so much,
I am at loss of words,
When it comes to describing,
Describing how much I miss you.
It seems like I can't live without you,
Because you are such a great friend,
A friend I don't want to lose.
If I ever lost you, I don't know what I would do,
I would blame God, I am really starting to doubt him,
He has taken Pappy(grand-grandpa).
My sisters(best friends).
Ashley and Tiffany Brown,
And it feels as if he's trying to take everyone I love.

My Love For You Is True

My love for you is true,
For noone else is as special as you,
Ich Liebe Dich My love Anthony James Haniuk.

I can never love anyone or anything but you,
Everyday I find myself Daydreaming about you,
At night I dream about you,
I keep wondering if you are okay,
When I am not with you.

I do my homework, thinking of you,
I finish my homework thinking of you,
My whole life is with you My love.

My love for you is true,
It's as sweet as a rose,
It never dies,
Never wilts,
And is still going strong.

One day I will marry you my love, because noone in this world can even begin to compare to you,
You fill my heart as noone else has,
Noone in this BIG HUGE WORLD can fill my heart as you have.

I can't even begin to think about what would life be like if something ever were to happen between us,
I already know it won't.

My love for you is true.

Yeah I might get Jealous,
A little too overprotective maybe,
But What girl doesn't?

I think this way if you aren't overprotective, and get jealous sometimes,
That they weren't a real girlfriend to begin with.

Skies gray and rains blow;
Trees sway and creak like old stairs.
Thunder rolls and booms.

The den lights go out.
On the brown faux leather couch
Kids crowd together.

Whites of their eyes show.
"Shush! God is doing his work,"
Grandparents tell them.

Lightning bolt flashes,
Illuminates the front yard
And freezes the scene

Framed by porch windows;
He snaps candids from the storm,
Outside looking in.

A memory from the winter of 1963/64 I was due with our first child..There was rain then snow then ice..It melted enough just in time for me to get to the hospital..

I don't understand why,
Why my best friend, doesn't wanna be friends anymore.
Caleb I know I may have hurt you,
I know I may have made you laugh, I did, and I made you smile,
I love talking to you, but for some reason you don't wanna talk to me,
I am wondering why.
Caleb, I miss you like hell, and I am going through hell not being able to,
To talk to you, to hear your voice, all I have are pictures, and a picture,
A picture in a frame.
CAZ it is killing me inside being away from my best friend,
My one and only true best friend,
The only friend that has been by my side, through thick and thin,
Has been there for me when my great-grandpa died, when me and Josh broke up,
When my life didn't mean anything, the one who saved me from killing myself,
The one who talked to me everyday just to make me smile, and have a good day.
Now you are killing me by not talking to me!! Did you forget about me??
Did you forget I was there for you too?? That we were here for each other,
That we made the promise to always be here for each other??
I miss you a lot, and I just want you to come back home Caleb Allen Zummak.

Haiku Crazy Wisdoms

The crashing waves ripped.
One surfboard flipped, disappeared –
And strength swam ashore.

Soldiers seek God’s face
Amid blasting, fire, and death.
A few find solace.

Women birth children.
Fathers become their leaders -
When love has no girth.

Tsunamis may drown,
Earthquakes may scatter earth around.
Willingly, God helps

The distant planet
Travels, showing its dark face –
Man shall see its light.

Signs and seasons pass.
Life lessons inflict sore pain.
But God can uplift.

Daybreak welcomes dawn.
The sun delivers brightness.
Wisdom is thankful.

Before the sunrise,
A rooster crows in darkness.
Singing bragging rights.

Traveling with speed,
Interstate traffic flies by.
Some folks watch and pray.

Hanging on to life,
Two, in sickness and in health,
Love nature’s great gifts.

Time passed slowly
Once upon a youthful time,
But speeds up with age.

Fool-heart was happy
When it heard many crickets –
Ringing in its head.

Euphoria knows.
A wonderful thing…the mind –
Can be a compass.

God gives His riches.
Open eyes perceive great gifts –
Beauty everywhere.

Beauty for ashes

Her House was ablaze,
Smoke filled each room she
Was barely alive,

Congested and faint,
A withered rose suffocates,
She fell to her knees,

Voice heard loud and clear,
Severed through the pollution,
Arise, your set free!

 Quietly filling
deep cups of the red blossoms.
 The morning sunrise.

 The rock bowl is full.
Filled by the rain for the birds
 and for my quiet mind.

 Dried stalks of rhubarb
 turn brittle in the summer.
 Born again next year.

 The sparrows come back
to say thank you for their home
 I lovingly made.

 My red dogs eyes gleam.
 Before eating, her eyes ask
 is it OK Dad?

 The strong bowstring sings.
My arrow will find its home
 I turn to sip tea.

 First Love
 How reluctantly
the shy, young man moves forward
 toward the full, red lips.

 In the maiden’s bed
He found his heaven and hell.
 Such was his first love.

 Small favor to ask.
Please spread my ashes on the sea.
 No wife, no roommate.

 Who is Buddah

 She poured my green tea
 Until the cup ran over.
 Now, I know Buddah.

 Cousin Roni was loud.
 Married a Samoan man.
 They both ate roast pig.

 My old friend, Bucky.
Carried a gun in his boot.
 Afraid of himself.

 Old Friend

 Alvin slapped his first wife
and then he married a man.
 I don’t know him now.

 Exercise I

 to catch up with love.

 Exercise II

 Not Republican.

 Exercise III

 He had to learn it.

 All his writing was
 He was egocentric.

 The autumn raging
I am blinded by red leaves.
 Too many to count.

 Surf crashes fiercely.
 Shadows lessen, skies turn gray.
 Winter storm moves near us.

 This Spring, my house burned.
I now have a better view
 of the blue mountains.

 Fresh ink on blue lines
the words come like hungry bees
 to form my Haiku.

 Summer. I feel strong.
Equal to birds in the tree,
 and pebbles near feet.

Any memories
of how much you wanted me
of how things once was

We had come so far

I am just matter
My skin made of flesh and blood
Life's own particle

I live everyday
A poet in misery
Seeking to find it

That which has been lost
That which can never be found
That which has no name

Know I what I seek
I would share it with you
Unknown it remains

Love I my own soul
Sure, for it is eternal
Though it is unseen

My life I do live
As it is meant to be lived
Following my fate

I am, obviously
I have a family name
I live, sure, I do

I do ask myself
Of the ways of this realm
Wait I for my death

Eager to see it
The gate of eternity
To be with the Lord

In the end, you ask
Do I really know myself
I would say, I don't

For Him

Confusion, delusion, rejection,
Seeking gladness, finding sadness.

Cold house, cold heart,
Feelings of drifting apart.

Always trying hard to please,
Never getting any reprise.

Is it worth it, I ask myself,
Failing in the pursuit of wealth.

Sick of life, sick of living,
Tired of trying, tired of giving.

Thoughts of love fading fast,
Thoughts of hope long since passed.

Why do I fight this losing battle,
Being ignored starting to rattle.

People say hi, then move away,
Never waiting to hear what you say.

Why do I continue with this strife,
What's the point of living this life.

Each day passes in the same mode,
Making my life such a lonely road.

Not talking, just walking,
Like i'm doing the right thing.

Not hoping now of a future bright,
Living life in this fading light.

God knows my heart better than man
He knows i'm doing the best that I can.

I suppose now that my life grows dim,
I'm trying best and it's just for Him.

I am a very happy guy who talks to folk who aren't

My Books

You can call me whatever you want,
but it will not affect me in the least. When I
read books I picture myself as the main
character, like I am really in the story, and
then my books are written in a different
way many people do not understand. Many people
have told me that I cannot write good stories
or poems, and some people say they love my
writing; that they love my creativity, but do you
see I don't believe I write that good. If there were
no books in the world, I would go absolutly
crazy! I love books with a cover and paper,
and not those kindle things. I will never own one of
those things, I need my books, I need my libraies!

For My Baby Girl By Dustin J Palmer

As I sit here cold and broken hearted
my life was over before it started.
Until I met this girl that
turned it around, she turned
my frown upside down. This
may sound funny but she is the
love of my life I put down
the knife and started a new life
with my lovely wedded wife.
So as I sit here and cry and I
look to the sky and prayed for
the perfect girl that is my world
God gave me you Briana Lynn
Palmer since you came along I
have been a lot calmer and more
of a staller because you're on my
mind all of the time I see your
face and baby you shine like
my glass of sweet red wine
you're my drug just the way
you love my precious white
dove I swear you fell from
the heavens above when you're
gone my heart bleeds for you
so when you're gone to me
you're really not you're always
in my head. Baby I love you.

Laden cumberland and amber
Weeping snow from the spicy sweet shrubs
Beg as if it is a teen to absent spring
To emerge somewhere with its perfect
Beauty delight;

But when I sought to it for you,
Ah the New Year grows in front of my eyes
Like those plum-blossoms from the old garden!

It was very dry like the seagull bay
I pilled a lot of ketchup on it
and still dry it remained
I was very dissappointed

and let out a HUGE
As chunks of the dry burger fell out of my pie hole
Landing into the toilet

Wherever life breathes,
love beautifies everything
He has created!

Waterfalls nourish
what's lies underneath as ponds
hold their fresh water!

It's a Paradise
we have lost since their first sin...
let us take it back!

God needs our presence,
to walk with Him and obey...
we can be holy!

A battle with life

A battle with life

Dying each minute
Disease and medication
Diagnosed cancer

Two loving hearts part,
Trepidation that turns true,
Tears their souls apart,

Contiguous breaks,
Courage totally shattered,
Can see blemishes ?

Heartbeats if fumble,
Hard to search serenity,
Harsh words can crumble,

Drug abuse poisons,
Destructive devil dares do,
Death knocks anytime!

What Would You Do

What would you do if you knew this was my last day to live??
Would you try and save or let me go?
Would you even care for my soul?
What would you do if I was a fallen angel?
Would you still recognize me?
Would you talk to me or ignore me?
What would you do if I died?
Would you have a funeral for me, so all my friends & family could come?
Would you cry or even mourn a 'lil bit?
Would you care that I was gone, or would be happy?
What would you do if I was a ghost?
Would you feel me right beside you, guarding you, Watching over you, protecting you?
Would you see me?
Tell me would you walk all over me, or maybe even walk through me, as if I weren't there?
What would you do if I was a demon?
Would you still love me then?
Would you still care and forgive me?
Would you just say "You are stupid, and I hate you?"
What would you do if I were and angel?
Would you love me more, or would you love me less?
Would you feel me touch you, and comfort you when you need someone and you think noone is there for you, well that's a lie, cause I am right here beside you to catch you if you fall, to dry your tears, and to heal your wounds of any kind.
What would you do if I was still alive?
Would you continue to hate me, and call me sadistic names?
Would this world still be cruel?
Would there still be a rule?
What would you do?
