No Chain, No Charm

In Unison-
~No Chain, No Charm~

United we own
Firm, full of finest goodies-
Our ground of freedom.

United we stand
Firm from failure and horror-
On the ground of strength.

United we pray
Faithfully with open mind-
Our bliss is assured.

How Fast it Dries

the jaguar's tear
slides off his single whisker
clouds do sigh

three offspring
dragged into the river's teeth
one remains

they both stretch
the moment of sorrow lost
life leaps on

Because tears are meant
To be a symbol of strength
Even in hard days.

If caught, so be it.

Cold, Flexible Steel

A serial of haikus, all addressing the same topic with
a hint of humor; but advice that could save your life
or that of a loved one. New to PoetrySoup, so I hope
I'm not "out of order" with this submission or topic.

Cold, flexible steel
Probing my dignity...

This “simple” exam
“…could prevent cancer.” they say.

We all have to die,
But not from colon cancer.

There's a downside tho’.
“Yuk! That, nasty brown liquid.”

“But boy, does it work...
Work and work and work some more.

Baring your buttocks...
In a fetal position;

“No polyps", they say.
There are no malignancies.

Your colon’s okay.
It’s five years until your next...

Want some peace of mind?
Insurance may pay for it.

One “simple” exam
Can provide that peace of mind.

You might save your life.
Over 45? Do it!

Cold, flexible steel.
On the other hand, what if…
Something else kills you?

This is in honor of my sister in-law, she use to be a flower child when she was in her teens. She has been a prison guard for almost 16 years and she has never grown out of the era of dress..... ?????

9-11 Remembered

The wound (Haiku) 2014

A deep gaping hole
newly covered with scar flesh
a cemetery

the reflective pond
the bright thirteen year old trees
the lost souls still there

the money-men charge
fees to visit our worst time
Ah, America!

Rest in Peace, Dear Friend

Flowers wilt
Dead carcasses are buried
Loved ones mourn

Rest in peace,
Your life on earth is no more…
Farewell, friend

Lookin' after pests
Keepin' a CLOSE eye on 'em
"Those wild animals!"

Roamin' around zoo
Searchin' for sneaky monkey
Hidin' in a tree

Zookeeper gets mad
"Where's Marty, the smartypants!?"
"He TOOK my cage keys!"

Inner is Outer

It's been quite awhile
Discern life's complexities
Toke more viewpoints

Futile mass events
Authorities blame each one
Attracting mix ups

Life are like choices
More people can't accept it
A thought. Is a thing

Living is dying
Light coexists with darkness

Men of God glimpse more
Worst valid visual events
Prayers can't alter

Consciousness soar high
Crab mentality exists
Overflowing fears

Inner is outer
You exude what you attract
Embrace all of them.

Mountain Climbing

I’m climbing
Above the canyon…the sun
Hits the rocks

I ascend
As I take risk after risk

I’m climbing
I rely on my own strength
I’m doing FINE!

I descend
While I urgently hold on
For dear life…
