Moments In Time

The sweetest sounds of burning trees
A gentle stroking in the breeze
The calm has lasted past the storm
Cloudy visions, Satan’s roar
Too many sights have passed my way
A time found only in the haze
The softest screams are running bare
My aching bones creak as I stare

You walk a distance towards me
The fall’s eternal, can’t you see?
I’m a memory in your heart
I whisper to you in the dark

The battle’s started at the end
No one is coming to repent
The sinners grab their wine from prey
No judgment calling here to stay
The sport is reckless to be told
The one is laughing at his souls
It falters nowhere to be sure
The power grows forevermore
Like a spirit in the wind
I have no say in where you’ve been
But cross the line to come to me
And pay the price for ecstasy

You walk a distance towards me
The fall’s eternal, can’t you see?
I’m a memory in your heart
I whisper to you in the dark.

Whispers Within

I am the spirit of satin stardust and the antiquities of golden memories alive I call to you from the rising warmth of the sun and greet you in the misty morning light I am the steady and rolling drum beat echoing from the jagged heights above I am the mysterious curves of the raging waters' and the freedom birds of love I rise above the white summer clouds in lilting songs of grace and roam with the western tail-winds to take you home again I am a Spirit of our gracious Lord God Almighty of love hope and faith I have come to tell

Places Of Worship

Majestic cathedrals are erected for the worship of God,
Featuring towering spires and ostentatious facade.
Grand organs acclaim ancient hymns with clarion flourish.
Melodious choirs sing hosannas - languid souls to nourish!

Most congregants worship in less pretentious surrounds,
But the same generous blessings from above abounds.
It matters not the size of the building or its congregation.
The people are the church worshipping with joyous celebration!

Upon distant fields of frightful martial campaign,
And upon naval vessels plodding the roiling main,
Dedicated chaplains in simple settings minister to their fold,
Proclaiming just as effectively the cogent message of old!

Whether it be mosque, synagogue, church or canvas tent,
And whatever the religion or creed may be the people's bent,
One thing they have in common and it will be clearly evident,
They all witness the presence of their God ever omnipotent!

Perhaps in lieu of building mighty edifices prone to decay,
Bridges of understanding could be built to keep prejudices at bay,
Drawing diverse peoples together for a common good,
Fostering charity, fellowship and world-wide brotherhood!

The Universal Man

I shall live and die By my own accord Only my God may judge me To him I've proved my worth I am still here fighting It matters not what for On my ship of righteousness Headed for waters unexplored The clear night sky will darken And the clouds seem ominous I take heed to the sure signs From them I won't digress They are in the way of my dreams And hopes that fill my sails Like the wind from my heaven Keeps my skin tough as nails Evil comes to tempt me I am not immune Sometimes I play the hero Other times I'm just a fool Either way the choice is mine I make it with my free will For that's the gift he gave me And for what I fight for still The government is coming To bring a chaos they call order The line has been drawn Between two sides there is a border I feel myself being torn To choose a fate in stone Let this be a lesson Why I wander on my own Minds can be controlled I see it every day The weak wills fall like dominos That lie littering my way An obstacle before me I iron will it to the end And when the devil comes to dance with me I have already started to transcend into everything around I am the universal man my true form I shall disguise I am hiding it from this great Satan they say will come for my demise I know he will find me maybe he already has in a long gone nightmare that my soul he stole at last if I remember correctly I can't say I recall ever escaping his grip or did it ever touch me at all?

Voices

They are all in my head, all day and all night
I hear them talking, telling me something's not right
They come from all directions, my ears never rest
recalling words from the ones I thought I knew best

My family my friends, those closet to me, telling
me things I refuse to see.
They've been buried within so long and so deep
like angry little children refusing to sleep

Some yell loudly, some whisper soft
they speak of the times and the dreams that were lost
and all these times I've refuse to hear, from people
and places I held so dear.

I've been so let down, my pride has been shattered
My heart has been broken, as if I didn't matter
It's a harsh lesson these voices within
makes me realize I've only one true friend
Thank you lord for opening my eyes, to people
that hurt me and tell me lies.
God's comfort and love will pull me through
from all the bad things these voices do.

Today Is Terrible----

The cracked spine of
the book I dropped
at the call.
A chip in my
windshield left by a
pompous *?#@! in a
red sports car as I
drive to the
service.
Rain expectorating
from an ashen sky as
the dirt is turned.
Today is terrible.
Though this is less
terrible than the
crack in grandma’s
spine from her fall
down the stairs.
The chip in her
amazingly smart mind
after eighteen years
as a teacher.
Tears running,
dripping from my
Mothers ashen face
as she cries “My
mama’s dead.”
Today is terrible.
Though this is less
terrible than the
cracked family
emotions left raw
and empty.
The chip in Grandpas
numb mind at the
gathering… “Where is
Irene she should be
here?”
Faces gone ashen
with dread, do we
leave him numb or
remind him that his
wife is dead?
Today is terrible.
Though this is less
terrible than the
empty silences,
missing the jokes
Grandma used to
crack.
Grandma’s laugh and
her endless smile
which always exposed
that tooth with the
chip in it.
Without her the
world has become
empty, bleak, and
ashen.
Today is terrible.

America's Best

I fear it will never end.
I know the impact will ne’er fade
and
the pain is slow to abate.

Dear God, may I never grow weary of
      having 'seen it all.'

Dedicated to the bravery and commitment of our soldiers around the world. We cannot possibly
deserve the sacrifices you make for us. Thank you from my soul.

BY HIS SPIRIT

The peace of love
                        from heaven sent
The joy of faith
                        that grace presents
Release from sin
                        my forgiveness brings
In praise from lips
                         true worship sings

Peace,love and joy,all by God's grace
When I turn to Him,face to face

Cry only for those who cannot hear you

The wind did stir the thought in kind wanting - for if she knew my soul, just a spark
of it, I would be a rich man...

So long this ribbon of love that flows over the rocks of age and distant torment...
The gate keepers sit alone watching, waiting for the violators who dare not call
mundane theirs...

It is those shackles which bind misguided dreams that which make fertile ground for
the barkers at the door, for what else does one need to grey the vision and dull
delight?

You carry the scent of the well-traveled said the withered old man - I too know your
pain, that which comes from never knowing home - those of us who seek blindly
that which the world cannot give - home is not a place but a thought in time and
nothing more than a stop to rest your ambition...

Cry only for only those who cannot hear you, for it is selfish to do otherwise and
seek home in the gentle embraces of those that know you...

Be kind to those who would bite you, for in doing so it will bring light to a dark path...

AND

Always rejoice in life - it pisses them off and helps them to see the tragic flaw of
their diluted beliefs...

Whispers in Church

Magnificent cathedral
Saints and sinners gather in
Word of God delivered
To triumph over sin
Within the walls
Between the pews
You hear the faintest cry
Whispers in the church house
In the sweet by and by

Quiet prayers
Sent up to God
Repentance for the sin
Committed in the quiet night
Where no man wants to live
In hopes that God
Will grant a pardon
For acts of immortal sin
The best of intentions
Laid out in prayer
Amazing grace to win

Secretly hoping
God’s grace and mercy
Finds favor on your soul
Sending up promises
Acts of contrition
Heart’s willing to mourn
Is he still listening?
Do you still wonder?
Has he turned a deaf ear?
No answer is given
While here on this earth
You’ll find out in the beginning

Wars of Difference and Different Wars

Dream on man
War is constant
It has gone beyond
Catholic or Protestant

Religious wars
From our short lived past
Will never dilute
As long as we last

In this modern world
We fight for different reasons
What ever the excuse
And in any season

We fight over land
Imaginary WMD
Even over soccer
How the hell can that be

We now fight over oil
In a camouflaged war
Taking innocents with us
In public deplore

Guerrilla, assault
Bombing with precision
We vote them in
As they twist their decisions

Dream on man
War has changed
Greed has taken over
From the pasts deranged

THAT DAY

Into a meadow,
I stopped by a gate

I often happened this way

Upon the stile I lent my arms,
Closing my eyes for a while

It often happened this way

Deep in my mind's eye
A vision,clear as day

They oftimes happen this way

This face of a man,
Had become known to me

I had begun to walk His way.

A poem based upon my experience as a newly born again Christian early in 1987 when I saw the face of Jesus regularly in my mind's eye

The Man With A Brown Hat

I came from the islands in the Far East
Where the bird of prey will rise
That’s being prophesied, but I’m sure
I’m not that One, for I possess not the golden rule
Though, I searched for years in Lenin’s name
Instead, I saw an empire fell from fame
Leaving behind my Caucasian brother
Watching his home town turned grey
When the desperate bombed it
By fate, once was a sailor with wan smile
Sailing the deep blue to catch the elusive dreams
Yet, I ended up alone, drinking ouzo
In the queen city of the Gentiles
Where I found my mortal half
She wrapped me, with her love
Now, I juggle my time from here and
To the city of lights, to be with my bloods
But my skin betrayed me
One day, when I wanted to see my god
Imprisoning me for hours and les bleus
Were questioning the colour of my skin, but
Thanks to Heaven Above, for I’m still alive
Why do others can easily spoil the beauty?
Of my beloved, and yet, I can’t even glance
Theirs, nor taste just the smell of their soil
Without being questioned
Or, being stared from head to toe
What if I do the same?
Non, don’t panic! I will not, for
I've no power to change the name of the game
Maybe some day, but right now
I’ll focus myself to my new found joy
In the arts of writings
And will keep honing my craft to perfection
Till I free the miseries deep inside…
Since I saw the first dawn thirty nine years ago
In the beautiful archipelago
Bearing the Spanish name
For she was sealed tight with a fist
People, unite and let’s make peace
Listen to the messenger of these last days
The simple things I really wish….. for all

Enslaved by those in the dark

Give Him Your Heart

Someday, I believe
And only me, that truly knows
There in the New Jerusalem, I’ll live
Happily, with my Lord
I will not feel
The sorrow and pain
That I’ve in this world
For my Father promised me
The true life
The happiness
The right
To sing him praises
Among the blest, in his throne
Would you like to live in my Father’s house?
If you do, then, come and follow me
I will show you his love
And the Father will open the gate
If, you’ll give him your heart

Ezra

To the hands that held copper
in red, gleaming red
in open palms brimming
in value, like gold
To these hands of faith
with utensils and bowls
stone upon stone was restored.
To the eyes that wept tears
in streams, silver streams
and saw sleeveless garments
rent and unfrayed
To these eyes of sorrow
penitence stayed
to be vessels unearthed for devotion
To the wonderment breathing
of incense and prayer
on knees buckled under
with no hesitation
To this man of faith
with divine restoration
a people, a nation redeemed.

What Is This Church All About

What Is This Church All About?

Is this church meant for people like me?
Is this where God really wants me to be?

They claim to be filled with God’s spirit.
When it comes to HIS truth... Can they give it?

I’m sure there’s many who come and attend
It’s more than “church on Sunday,” that we must spend!

We must reach out to the lost and the oppressed!
After all, Christ gave us his very best!

May we all preach the gospel and God’s holiness!
And strive to seek his awesome righteousness!

Living for Jesus must be a daily walk and experience!
Not simply based on our “ambitious self appearance.”

God isn’t interested in a denomination or a title…
He wants to know… Do we really believe the Bible?

He’s not interested in the money put in the offering plate.
He wants to know; “Are you ready
 to enter heaven’s gate?”

May we strive to serve Jesus with a zeal and passion!
And be filled with his holiness and compassion!

May we serve Jesus from a heart of humbled confession!
And making our commitment to him,
 our #1 possession!

“Unless the Lord builds the house.”
They labor in vain that build it!
Let’s seek the power of God!
May his presence completely fill it!!

THE PERFECT MURDER

In his private parlor the king of Moab rests,
Having just retired from his more spacious quarters,
Where King Eglon had received the Israelite guests,
Bearing tribute, not a gift, but by the king’s orders.

Israel’s cries to God, about their being bereft,
Brought about the sending of a rescuer from the Lord.
Ehud, a man ambidexterous and lethal with his left,
Wore on his right thigh a cubit-length sword.

Ehud is sent by God to ease Israel’s suffering,
And is quickly added with those bearing the treasure.
He conceals his double-edged sword with a covering
And, pretending to have an errand, asks the King’s pleasure.

Eglon, a king who rules with an iron rod,
Believes Ehud’s pretense of a secret task--
A special message he says is from God—
And sees Ehud in his parlor as he asks.

Eglon the king rises from his lounging,
As Ehud announces what his visit is about.
With sword in hand, Ehud is suddenly bounding
And stabbing the king until his entrails fall out.

Ehud dashes out on the porch, locking doors in back.
He dashes by idols and monuments of stone and iron,
And flees toward Mount Ephraim, following the track,
Where timely he lifts and blows the trumpet of Zion.

Silent Beauty

The silence now pervades my soul and mind.
I smile in wonder at the scene sublime.
The silence now pervades my soul and mind.

I wish to hold this moment for all time—
The beauty of the flowers full in bloom.
I smile in wonder at the scene sublime.

There is no need for dustpan, rake, or broom.
The roses in their glory make me cry—
The beauty of the flowers full in bloom.

I want to understand why when I spy
Upon this garden planted by a man
The roses in their glory make me cry.

It must be all a part of God's own plan
To show the awesome beauty He creates
Upon the garden planted by a man.

When I discern the plot, my thoughts abate—
The silence now pervades my soul and mind.
To show the awesome beauty He creates,
The silence now pervades my soul and mind.

Wonderful Star

There once was a wonderful star
Who thought she would go very far
                                            Until she fell down
                                         And looked like a clown
She knew she would never go far
She would land near the moon

Where are you

You flourished and blurred
like a spark on wind

Gracefully and quickly like a frightened hind
in pursuit of light

You harvested through bushy meadows
taken by blight

In struggle with plight
had you lost your might

And gave out
although never you gave up.

Where are you?
For you must be still there.

For I still can feel you
somewhere in the air.

Solitude: To Yoda, An Ode

Green bark a prism creates,
Feel the pull of earth, you must.

Rotates, a slime of endless hates,
Can hold me not, this world’s crust.

Friendship’s ties, isolation Deflates,
Succumbs, my spaceship, to bitter rust.

Mist, my soul forever permeates,
Lift-off, booms the rocket’s thrust.

My spirit when light returns, elates,
Swamps swell, swallowed hope’s swirling dust.

Trapped, I am, until student from fate
Arrives to learn; Cloud City or bust.

This Righteous Reign

There is a place where deserts bloom and loving is the law
Where miracles are commonplace and sorrows come to fall

When desires flower amidst the fields of singing lily throngs
And sin, with its razors edge, is a foregone ancient song

It is a place by streams of life, where marigolds do thrive
Where misty aqua canopies supply pleasures to our lives

Then luscious verve and greenery on mountaintops do grow
And pleasures we past put aside, no longer do forgo

Here, patchwork friendships sawn asunder are seamlessly re-sewn
And trees of men and sapling sons for times long lost atone

Oh, how I long for these dear times when nations breathe as one
When frozen tongues of languages have melted in the Son

No pain, no sickness, no sullen thoughts - no lurking death to fear
To see the work of one’s own hands, for all eternity to cheer

This passionate air, this prospect true, this paradise re-claim
Oh, how I strive to walk the path to see this righteous reign

True love is out there in abundance, it just needs to be found Sometimes it finds you, and sometimes they trip over each other Tomorrow never dies, unless you want it, my tomorrow lives .
