Look So Trim

Then there was time that seemed so terrible
Everything that happened was unbearable
I had hoped would never happen again
And God would save me from my sin.

By things like that I have been plagued
While in prayer to God have often begged
I know You truly are the sacred one
Please forgive me for what I have done.

From all of my sins I am now forgiven
God's love is why I continue to be living
And if it really had not been for Him
Then I still would be fat and not look so trim.

Spirits Will Uplift

Spirits Will Uplift

When can this finally be a wake up call?
So start to stand up before we finally fall
And bring everyone back together again
With many smiling faces and spirit within.

I really never like bragging or to ever boast
But of many things that worry me the most
It is my poems no longer to continue to write
Wanting to challenge you and then invite.

Ebola and killing have been in the air;
Of all things in Ferguson what is fair
Why would you want to take a life away?
Maybe while holding a big walrus at bay.

God save me from sin and remove all fear
Knowing Christmas time is close and near
Your Son truly was our very greatest gift
And now all of our spirits you will uplift.

My Three Mirrors

My Three Mirrors

Why is the World so obsessed with obscenity?
While we start searching for our true identity;
An old mirror reflects, only part of the past;
Present has come and past no longer will last.

A second mirror with the present now is here;
On third mirror will be future close and near
Waiting for the present to finally pass by;
On all three combined shall start to rely.

Mirrors are Father, Son and the Holy Ghost,
And what I prefer about all of them the most
Is when balanced in our lives all three will be,
From sin and misery surely will set us free.

Body is the house where you live
Forest is the place where animals survive

Water is the place where crocodile dominate
Mountain is the place where rivers originate

Mind is the source that breeds imagination
Kind is the form of desirable destination

Nest is the place where birds dwell Hospital is the place where patients get well

Court is the place where criminals are punished Grave is the place where everyone is finally finished

Life in this Earth, with hard work thrives
For world is the body where He lives!

Will Abide

Will Abide

What would life be like today, Hear every person as they try to say, They were
failures because of me; God here are my prayers with this plea.

Oh God see me for what I have been; Full of folly locked into sin, As it follows
me from door to door, Until I can't stand it anymore.

If life I lived I could only replace, You would find a smile on my face; My life to
God is now dedicated; No longer what I do will be ill-fated.

Joy will fill my very heart and soul, And what ended up being my greatest goal,
Is knowing God is always at my side, And in me will continue to abide.

Inspired By In A Perfect World by Diane Christian

Inspired By In A Perfect World by Diane Christian

Once you do prefect,
It will then become perfect;
Part of perfection.

It must require a certain selection
Of things that appertain to perfection
If perfect is what we want to obtain
God will make us able to stand the strain.

What I have heard from latest scoop
Jesus won't want us to jump through hoop
Or constantly in circles walking around
He waits for us wanting to be found.

There may be many obstacles involved
But with God's help they will be dissolved
While in our prayers He is close and near
Ask and all of your sins will soon disappear.

Faith, hope and love together can alleviate
All sin and hopelessness so full of hate
God high in heaven will be walking there
To share with us His world beyond compare.

An Answer to Question

An Answer to Question

For answer to question my mind does yearn;
How long will it take for my soul to return?
Back to heaven where it once had been,
With Jesus second time will soul return again?

Distance between heaven is how long?
To be right does it really require a wrong?
When you want a sing a song properly,
Do the words and notes have to agree?

To be saved tell me what requirements are
And I know that God is my guiding star
Believing in Him has to be a major part;
What should I do for my saving to start?

Suppose last moment of life I am now living;
My soul back to God I have been giving
Hope he handles it with a whole lot of care
Until soul in heaven is finally there.

Into heaven, my soul did safely arrive
Over such a long distance had to survive
But I know length of time will be brief
Which surely will provide me with relief.

What I wonder about and also suppose
Will my soul need to have travelling clothes
Once in heaven by all will be recognized
Even though some were actually surprised.

Wasted Angels

Howard Marks and God Almighty
Shared a spliff, and had a whitey
Then had the munchies, and a bong
Annoying Peter with the pong
By which time it was far too late
To frisk young Howard at the gate
God, seeing Peter’s consternation
Outlined the process of creation
How on day three he made the weed
With every other tree and seed
To raise in some, apotheosis
And test some others, with psychosis

Now, Howard’s stash was pretty small
And didn’t last too long at all
So, as he didn’t see the point
Of heaven’s joys without a joint
He got his bong, and skins, and tin
Chucked all the roaches in the bin
And, following a wicked smell
Went wafting off to score, in hell

St. Peter looked above and groaned
As all the angels flew past stoned

Shall We Try For One More Year

How many years now has it been – maybe fifty-seven? We’ve traveled down some pleasant roads, on our way to Heaven. We’ve looked into each other’s eyes – seen both joy and despair. We’ve wondered how we’d make it when resources were not there. In looking back to find just how this love of ours began I believe it is controlled by some divine master plan. I believe if God does not exist there’d be no you and me. And all this time together would be less than destiny. I know that my redeemer lives – God’s word tells me so – He sent you as a soul mate as through this life I go. He knew there would be obstacles; I know He put some there To determine if we’d solve them with the mighty gift of prayer. I believe the lesson we have learned in traveling down life’s road Is to bring our troubles to Him to lighten up the load. We realize that we’ve been blessed sharing time together here Still one decision faces us --- Shall we try for one more year? Written for my wife on the occasion of our 57th…12/21/12 … Let’s go again Darlin’…. John Posey

Me and My Guitar

Me and My Guitar

God to me was pleasant and nice
So nothing did I need to sacrifice
And every day would hold my hand
To tell me that He does understand.

God's willing to accept me as I am
Because I say yes and no ma'am
And to God will be always sure
That for everything Hehas a cure.

I may toil and tarry again and again
And every time when I start to sin
Forgives them even if black or white
Done morning, noon and into the night.

When I see a shining star in the sky
Stop everything and to God say Hi
He may be either close or away far
Loves songs I play on my great guitar.

If opera will be willing to welcome me
I am sure I will set their souls all free
As soon as they hear my fabulous voice
Will all sing along and start to rejoice.

Hidden Christmas

I look all around and what do I see?
Christmas in code, a pure fantasy.

A plump happy Santa, a child on his knee
Under the bough of a tall Christmas tree.

Stockings and ribbons, merry and bright
Plenty of gifts of varying heights.

Snowmen and reindeer, angels and lights
Dreaming of feasting and sleigh rides at night.

But friend, don't be taken with this imagery
For Christmas is more than what we can see.

True Christmas began in a whole different way
A virgin, a stable, a babe on the hay.

And God with a plan, to save men from sin
A Savior, a gift for mankind, sent from Him.

A humble beginning, no earthly delights
He broke through the darkness and gave us the Light.

So do not be fooled by this fanciful sight
That does not remember God's power that night.

He conquered our sin and freed us from death
For Christmas is CHRIST, and His gift is the best.

God's Pie in the Sky

God's Pie in the Sky

Pie tasted so yummy and wouldn't you know
Second piece too I really, surely loved so
And the more of the pie that I did eat
I found out last piece had grown four feet.

Last piece walked away through my door
And it could never be found any more
So my lovely wife and I both together
Decided that we would bake another.

This was even better than the first one
And I ate it all and when I was done
A cavity did appear on one tooth;
I wasn't happy because this was uncouth.

I again never did eat another piece
And as days of my life started to increase
I did die and went to heaven one day
To see God and His pies He had on display.

His was surely much better than mine;
Now in heaven every time when I dine
I ask for God's great pie in the sky;
And "YOUR WELCOME" always is His reply.

being committed

Being Committed Written: by Tom Wright 1998 Lord, how can I a difference make? There are so many souls at stake. For Lord, you see that I'm but one, I'd work from dawn to setting sun. There’s so many things to see and do, I've no time left to work for you. When I am older, maybe then, But now there's pleasure in this sin. Involvement sure, at some later date, But now I'm young and it must wait. The great commission I understand, But me go Lord, to a foreign land? No friends or family there to see, Lord, it would be like you and me! You say that we a majority make, To think of all the souls at stake. You say I'm blind and cannot see? That some dear soul had time for me. I'd never thought of it that way, As with tear filled eyes I knelt to pray. A committed life will be my solemn vow, I'll work for You, Lord, show me how. For now it's clear what one can do, For sins atonement, it was just you.

The Lovers Dance

It was their night they shone bright as they danced their sweet dance
Two lovers embraced in their world of romance.

They laughed and they cried as their eyes locked in stare
It was their world for this moment as if no one was there.

And their steps they so flawlessly glided in tune,
To a melody that touched everyone in that room.

Their passion brought envy to onlookers there,
Who secretly questioned their own love affair.

But as the night closed and came to an end
The lovers were blind to what lie round the bend.

The house and the cars and the jobs that went bad
The kids drove them crazy and their savings were drab.

So they fought to hold on to the things in their life,
That caused them so much of their pain and their strife.

They fought with each other like enemies do,
And dismissed in their life everything that was true.

So when sickness and hardships and troubles occurred,
Their vows to commit seemed truly absurd.

Their home and their kids would now take a backseat,
For their moral obligation they chose not to meet.

So I Ask …
What happened to that dance they danced so well?
With passion and truth everyone could tell.

What happened to their dance where they held so tight?
What happened to the wonder of their glorious night?

What happened to the words that charmed their ears?
With a passionate rhythm that brought them to tears.

What happened to those vows that poured from their heart?
The “I love you forever and till death do us part”.

For these aren’t just words we borrow for the day,
From another who tells us this is what we must say.

We say them cause it’s what we feel true in our heart,
It’s a God given blessing we commit from the start.

But these words are now lost as they fall on deaf ears,
Since the pain and the struggles they’ve created these years.

So the lesson here learned dear people of odd,
Is that love is so fragile but made strong with our God.

So stop fighting for power and money or need,
For all of this nonsense is only our greed.

Keep God in your life and he’ll walk you through,
When heartache and pain and losses ensue.

For why commit vows in the eyes of our God,
And not call on him when life gets too hard?

For the truth of our vows we are all meant to see,
is that marriage is not, made of two, but of three

If reading these words ring some truth in your heart,
Decide that today you will make a new start.

Go hug your spouse and say something kind
Don’t let the small stuff cloud up your mind.

We’re all just lost souls who are trying to cope
If not there for each other then where is the hope?

You see, the anger, the fight
that in us abide, Is only the insecure child inside.

So rise up above all this fear and this pain,
And see all the beauty that there is to gain.

By trusting in God and his will for you
Together forever he’ll see you both through.

For life is too short for our miserly ways
cheap on our love hence dreading our days.

He made us to love in all that we do
To wake up each morning and start us a new.

So pray for your spouse, ask God to be kind
To the person you prayed in the beginning to find.

They’re still the same person you loved from the start
But life and it’s troubles have hardened their heart.

You vowed that you’d love them in sickness and health
Now is your chance to show God what you felt.

So rise up my friend, don’t say that you’re through
For what if your loving God gave up on you?

Gospel Fest

weekend worshippers entertained
suffer unholy spirits unrestrained
part-time believers insincere sigh
offering aspiring prayers on high,

high-spirited mutable self-doubts
vain doublespeak’s showy shouts
touchy feely oral emotive screams
inculcate traditions by any means

blind submissive faith expressed
awe-inspiring festivity repressed
fertile sheep-like minds confused
by false prophets openly abused,

fashioning fictional lifeless tales
via lively chorale voices exhaled
through prayerful songs of praise
shrouded in every popular craze

retold ancient stories for all ages
wily performed on many stages
theological genres of false truth
stirring hearts to raise the roof

hapless souls crying out in vain
in tongues designed to entertain
charismatic leaders forever lost
misguiding revelers at any cost

weekend wilderness wanderers
aptly famished by squanderers
followers of sectarian ideology
inter-faith’s cultus psychology

romanticized by religious zeal
intentional exaggerated appeal
trapped within deceptions walls
deaf to the Father’s faithful calls

believers of trumpery men speak
hypocrites but one day a week
souls hysterical till out of breath
sinful hearts baptized to death

disciples who know what is best
righteously higher than the rest
imprisoned afore life’s final test
dupes of the accuser’s gospel fest

Start Singing to the Choir

Start Singing to the Choir

What would you really rather do?
Have delightful dream that does come true;
Maybe a great game will want to go to
Where all of the players you would know.

Each place with friends no matter where I went,
By the Lord Himself I had always been sent;
Book in Bible decided He wanted me to write
If with me it certainly would be alright.

Was my biggest assignment I ever had
And when it was done boy was I glad;
Never charged a send and did it for free;
Went and did write book of Deuteronomy.

To read Bible God has the strangest ways
After finally finished had to give God praise
Several days passed by and were gone
When He wanted me to write book of John.

Roaring and raving mad was almost stark;
God told me to write about Noah and the Ark
About people and animals who were aboard;
Each one of them lividly loved the Lord.

I'm no longer a teenager and fully grown
And now have a Bible of my very own;
What I still like about mine the best
Is by God and Jesus it has been blessed.

Each time when Bible is in my presence
I love its each word in every essence;
Got older and days of my life increased
And my parents wanted me to be a priest.

There are ten commandants I can count
And Jesus gave great sermon on a mount;
Being I'm of great health, hale and hearty
Church gave me a house-warming party.

And guess what to my wondering surprise
They said again I started to sermonize
Now at church each time when I am there
Forget sermon and for us give a prayer.

Service is short, sweet, simple and exquisite;
Each and every time when you pay us a visit
Before you expire give your whole entire,
And join so you can start singing to the choir.
