Mall Holiday Board Meeting

About thanksgiving a bunch of turkeys get together,
Have a meeting about sales for the holidays.
About fall they send out that letter.

Well those business folks got to cuss and discuss,
And figure how to gear it,
To make us customers
Feel that holiday spirit!

Here’s the minutes of the meeting,
We’ll skip the high fives greeting.

“All through the mall we’ll have ho- ho- ing Santys
From the computer games to the racks of panties.
Adult book stores will send out Yule tide flyers,
To attract all the spirit filled porno buyers.

Don’t forget to put some plastic wreaths
Round those expensive briefs,

And the music; what about the music?!
Let’s start the secular Christmas songs,
In time for the black Friday throngs.

Make sure the songs don’t mention God or Jesus,
We don’t want to offend and have people leave us,
Remember Christmas is all about the money,
So let’s spread the ads on thick like honey!

Hide all the advertised sales on goods for this time of year..
And put the top dollar toys and items by the cashier..

So if you business people got more ideas, let’s push them through!
What’s that? Oh yeah…ah…merry Christmas to you too.
MEETING ADJOURNED !”

“(hey Bill, ..about that bikini clad Santa dancing on the new hutch,
I think maybe her pine needle bra is a bit much…..?
What you think?….)”

Inspired by Carolyn D. (too long for the contest, but had fun with it!)

A Christmas Conversation

Daddy, were you alive when Jesus was born?

No honey, he was born a long time ago, over 2000 years ago.

Where was he born Daddy?

In Bethlehem, a small town in the desert in a manger,

Whats a manger Daddy?

It's a place where they kept animals to feed them.

You see when Jesus was born the Inn was full, so
they had to get Mary to a warm place to give birth to Jesus.
that was the only place they could go.

Daddy who is Jesus' Daddy?

God is his Father honey?

But who is Joseph?

The Chosen Father, who God chose to raise him, Mary's Husband

I don't understand Daddy!

God wanted a son, he could not have a son without Mary and Joseph's
help. God asked them both if they would help him, without even thinking
they said yes. God gave to them a great gift, God gave them Jesus.

At that moment God gave us all a great gift, He gave us the Son of Man.

The Son of Man Daddy?

Yes honey, you see God is not Man, not one you can touch, Jesus
was, he healed people who were sick, He showed people how to love God
and how God loves them. There is one more important thing
I want to tell you honey.

What's that Daddy? Jesus did a coupla more things I think are
important, there are many of course but two I like.

Go on Daddy!

Jesus taught us how to love without conditions, like the way I love you
and you love me and your Mom and Brother. But how to love everybody
like that. The most important thing is, is that he died because we humans
broke God's laws, which means we sinned. He died so God would
forgive us.

Wow Jesus really did love us didn't he Daddy...?

Yes he did baby, and the really good thing is he still does and always will.

Come on it's time for bed!

Not until I say my prayers Daddy!

How bout we Pray together tonight?

I'd like that Daddy!

So would I baby, so would I .

Jump up on my back and I'll give you piggy back ride!

I love you Daddy!

I love you too baby, I love you too.........

My Christmas wish is you all have Conversations like this with your
kids. Trust me they bring tears of joy!

May God Bless you all this Christmas Season as he has Blessed me.

From Mary, Josh, Shay and myself MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR

                             With Love.....Taz

Our Mistake

Some years ago a child was born
Early on a Christmas morn
And in the sky a star did appear
Drawing people from far and near

Bethlehem the holy city the angels said
Some people were so afraid and filled with dread
But still they came to see him and by the star were led
To where the little baby Jesus lay his head

They brought him gifts in worship and crowned the new born king
They thought he was well worth it though not so Herod the king
He wanted Jesus dead for good and so he did decree
Kill all the little babies that should get rid of he

But luckily they missed him, the family had moved on
And when they went a searching, the baby he had gone
He lived to tell his story of his father’s kingdom to come
For this Jesus was crucified and on a cross was hung

He said forgive them father, they know not what they do
And then forgave us for our sins, can this man be true?
His family took him from the cross and laid his body down
Then wrapped his nail holed hands and feet, the laid him in the ground

So when I think of Christmas and of the infant birth
I often think of what we did through all the joy and mirth
So please enjoy your Christmas but try to spare a thought
And think of how we crucified the man who love had brought

ONCE AGAIN THANK YOU

I was just trying to remember the past
trying to remember the good people
 and the bad people,
that i came across on my way,

i want you to know
that you are among the good people
that left a good trace in my life,

once again i just want to say thank you
for passing through my life,
is so short but is wonderful
i want you here forever.

Toy Train

15 December 2010
By: Noel N. Villarosa

I was at my age avid for adventure
Played outside home, street as my playground
Every nimiety of joy, I want to capture
Never ran out of game plan to lay down

At that time, robots are in the boom
Voltes V, Mazinger Z, and Daimos, among my favorites
But what most appealing for me to have in my playroom
Is a battery operated toy train with complete accessories

Christmas season is the best time to receive gifts
For a child like me, full of excitement and wishful
Life was hard before, wishful thinking somehow gone adrift
Somehow, someday under the Christmas tree, I’ll find it circling in full

Watch the tiny trains buzzing along the tracks
It’s a fun to place little trees and people in the scene
Reverberating rhythm of horn and its wheels click-clack
Passing by a miniature bridge, tunnels, forest so evergreen

Make up stories for the little people in the scene
Why there are there and what’s happening
Still fresh and playing wildly in my brain
I’ll make it happen on Christmas day with my son mingling

A Material Christmas

It's Christmas! Christmas!
That time of year
When people are filled...
With holiday cheer?

Yeah right. . .
I really do wish it were true
But people are people
Through and through

It's not about happiness anymore
Or in respect to what matters.
In reality it concerns what you get
And the food that is piled on the platters.

What has happened to the world of today?
Where is the 'loving and giving...'?
Now it is all just me, me, me.
Is this a nightmare? Or are we actually living.

Yep we might have a lot of things
Hang on! Let's add some more
It isn't the family that I'm expecting
But the postman knocking at the door.

When the topic turns to Christmas cheer
Lets go stuff our faces...
Break out all that lovely beer!
Chuck away those graces!

But... Suddenly the month is over
There go all the gifts you gave
Your debt payments crawl closer and closer
And you become a material slave.

Teaching an Old Dog

All I remember is going into the garage to get the snow shovel.

I am not even sure how much of the driveway I managed to shovel. Apparently, I was lying in the snow for several hours before one of the neighbors noticed me.

The next thing I remember is waking up from a deep sleep to the sounds of beeping machines with tubes and wires stuck into and on my body.

As I slowly regained consciousness and my eyes were able to focus, I was aware of a young, bald child looking down on me.

“Hi,” said the smiling, angelic face. Given the child’s age and complete baldness, I could not tell whether they were a boy or a girl. And, with the tube inserted in my throat and taped to my mouth, I was in no position to return their salutation.

I tried to remember who this child might be and why they were here with me. I guess my eyes displayed my confusion as the child said, “I'm Elizabeth. They let me walk around the hospital a little. Sometimes I sneak out of the oncology wing and look for people who have no visitors. I like to make sure someone is there when they wake up. I know I always like to see someone when I wake up from my operations.”

She just stood above me smiling. I then noticed she was holding my hand.

“Sometimes it is hard for family members or friends to come visit. Some people just really don’t like hospitals. And, I guess”, she said, “not everybody has someone that close to them. So, I like to become their visitor for them. I hope you don’t mind.”

I didn’t mind. Although it did make me embarrassed to realize that I fit in the latter category; I didn’t have anybody that close to me.

She just smiled at me and petted my hand as the medications worked their magic on me and I started to drift back off to sleep. I heard a nurse come into the room and say, “There you are, Honey. You need to get back to your room now and leave this nice man be.”

The next time I regained consciousness, I noticed a hand drawn picture of a house with a Christmas tree out front with a note that said, “I hope you get home before Christmas” and was signed by Elizabeth.

Each new day, I was welcomed by another drawing of Christmas scenes; smiling faces; reindeer; and, starry skies. All containing a happy note and all signed, ”Love, Elizabeth”.

After ten days of recovery and following the insertion of two stents into my heart, I was well enough to return to my empty home. On my way out of the hospital, I stopped by the Oncology Wing to say good-bye and thank you to Elizabeth. When I asked the nurse at the floor station where I could find Elizabeth, she replied, “Oh I'm sorry, Elizabeth is no longer with us.”

I then said, “Well can you tell me her home address or phone number, I would really like to thank her for visiting me in my hospital room this past week.”

The look on the nurse’s face indicated that I misunderstood what she had meant. Elizabeth was no longer with us.

Sadly, I started walking towards the exit.

Just before I got to the elevator, I noticed an open door with a man lying on his bed, with tubes in his nose and throat and nobody else in the room with him. I went into his room and sat in the empty chair.

When he opened his eyes two hours later, I said, “Hi, I'm Joe. I noticed there was nobody here when you were brought back from your operation and I know how nice it is to see a smiling face when you wake up, so I thought I would sit here with you for a while. I hope you don’t mind.”

He squeezed my hand; gave a slight smile; and, slowly drifted off back to sleep.

Christmas Time's Around the Bend

The time has come to string the lights and decorate the tree, Fix-up the barn an' house a mite for all the folks to see, Cause Christmas time's around the bend, an' Santa's underway A-makin' toys for girls an' boys, an' gifts to fill his sleigh. The widder Jones, from down the road, her cook-stove's bellerin' smoke, She makes tamales ever year for passin' city-folk. But through the year she cusses 'em for just a-passin' by, An' raisin’ dust she’s gotta to sweep when that ol' road is dry. The school put on their annual play and that turned into fun. They cast my nephew as the babe; he played the Holy Son! The Wise Men never had a chance. They got a real surprise, When baby Jesus tossed his milk an' caught one in the eyes. But ever year I'm still amazed by changes folks can make, Like Mister Groves, a stubborn coot I'd often like to shake. He turns a leaf at Christmas time, an' acts just like a saint, He'll drive to town an' do for folks that's crippled, sick an' cain't. On Christmas Day, the kids in town get stockings filled with loot. For some it's still a mystery but it's that "stubborn coot". I saw him late one Christmas Eve a-tendin' to the chore; For ever kid, in ever house, he left one at the door. It never snows on Christmas Day, it's mostly never missed. No sleighs to ride or sleds to slide, the things could fill a list, But there's no other place on Earth at any time of year That holds a light to what we have, the people livin' here. We've shared our lives an' memories, each dream, desire an' plan. We've touched each other ever way that God designed for man. With all their strengths and weaknesses, we love 'em still the same When Christmas time's around the bend, an' times that have no name.

Christmas Wishes

In this season of the year, I’m still so sad and lonely, As I sit on your lap, please listen to all my wishes lovingly; May you play my dad’s role to cheer my broken and lonely heart Papa Santa, this is one of my wishes this coming Christmas. I heard the gruesome news about unmerciful murders, Children were the primary victims, my heart terribly suffers; May their kith and kin be comforted and can endure the hurt Papa Santa, may my wish for them be granted this coming Christmas. Natural calamities happened in some neighboring countries, Many people had lost their lives, love ones and lot of their properties; May we all have the spirit of generosity to share and do our part Papa Santa, even in a simple way we’ll make them celebrate Christmas. Many life’s tragedies happened unexpectedly within the year, Some people cursed their lives, in desolation and in despair; May they/we feel the enlightenment, hope and strength to make a new start Papa Santa, this is my loving wish this coming Christmas. Our society is an indispensable unit to make the whole world happy, May we all live together with love starting from ourselves and within our family; May the spirit of true Christmas reigns and draws together those who went apart Papa Santa, these are my other wishes this coming Christmas. The year 2012 is about to end and 2013 is fast approaching, May we close another chapter of our life with gratefulness on God’s blessings; May we face the year ahead of us in prayer that peace and prosperity may impart Papa Santa, these are all my loving wishes this coming Christmas. A Simple Southern Christmas

It's gonna be a simple southern Christmas here.
All I want from Santa is some egg nog, bourbon and beer.
I'm gonna wait on Santa Christmas Eve night,
and when he's not lookin' I just might,
steal his reindeer.
It's gonna be a simple southern Christmas here.
I'm sending out my Christmas cheer.
I'm gonna sit on my front porch swing and sing.
It will be a good thing to hear those jingle bells ring.
I thought I seen Santa on the backwoods bayou road,
but instead it was a big fat toad.
It'a a wonderful simple southern Christmas here.
Santa just brought me some egg nog, bourbon, and beer.
When he wasn't lookin' I stole his reindeer.
So now I can deliver my Christmas cheer.
But hurry, hurry, I'm in a rush,
got to give that reindeer a little push.
Got to go, got to go,
got to get home to fix my gumbo.
It is Christmas day,
and I'm in a rush I must say.
It's gonna be a simple southern Christmas here.
Just add egg nog, bourbon and beer.
Mix it up with some Christmas cheer.
I'm ready for Christmas every year.

The Cradle And the Cross

The Cradle And the Cross ” 20 But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” Matt 1:20-21 NIV The cradle of Christmas Has no meaning without the Cross. The babe we celebrate at Christmas Was born to win us back from loss. Part heavenly yet part human, This gracious Christmas gift, Was given to save mankind; Redeem the God-mankind rift. The Cradle and the Cross Show us God’s great love; Reveal his glorious power And his life over death from above. They give us great hope for a future— A hope that cannot die. When we acknowledge the Cradle and the Cross; Upon Christ’s life and spilt blood we rely. From Christmas to Easter We’re reminded of the Cradle and the Cross; The sacrificial life of God’s Son, That his own people sought to toss. The Cradle and the Cross Were prophesies of old. God’s child was born unnoticed by most, Yet worshipped with incense, myrrh and gold. The Cradle and the Cross Bring forth glorious hope; Show us that there’s nothing Beyond God’s power and scope. They give us reason for joy And peace in our hearts to reign. May the goodwill of Christmas Be with all on earth to proclaim! A Tough Christmas Cookie

Two billion people are of the Christmas persuasion, Two billion people celebrate that most joyous occasion. If that is true, Santa has to visit 23,148 people every second. Which really is an awful lot as near as I can reckon. I know that magic plays a part of Santa’s yearly shtick, But even taking that into account it really is a trick. Because that one second includes travel time and chimney scaling Note reading, cookie eating, and occasionally board game playing. Even taking into account that there may be a temporal causality loop, That allows for the suspension of time for him and his happy little group. Imagine how long it would take in a reindeer driven sleigh, To visit each town and stop at each house along his way. And think of the toys that delight and make the children want to shout, The number of elves that it takes to build them would really freak me out. The logistics of this endeavor can really start to boggle your mind, The importing of raw materials alone could set you way behind. To us, Santa may seem a jolly carefree guy, but he never gets to play hooky, To run an organization such as that he must be one tough Christmas cookie.

My Greatest Gift

When I received the greatest gift,
Was Christmas when I was ten;
That present gives my soul a lift,
When I think of it now and then;

I didn’t see a box with my name,
When I searched under the tree;
I thought my parents were playing a game,
And had hidden it from me;

I waited oh so patiently,
For my gift on Christmas Day;
And when mom put a blindfold on me,
I didn’t know quite what to say;

She marched me out the front door,
And held my hand so tight;
Just when I thought I could take no more,
I saw that glorious sight;

My dad was holding the reins,
To a horse with a big red bow;
He had ribbons tied in his mane,
With a coat that seemed to glow;

I burst out into happy tears,
As I reached out to touch his face;
It’s a moment I’ve remembered for many years,
No other could take it’s place;

My greatest gift was “Lucky”,
My horse so tried and true;
And I hope you’ll be as lucky,
To have a gift like that for you!

A Christmas Wish

This Christmas is the time of happiness,
For our Savior’s birth will give us peace,
I wish to have lots of blessings to give,
To those who are suffering on the streets.

I can see children’s scattered everywhere,
Looking for food and a home to sleep,
How I wish to help them with their grief,
Make them happy for this season of peace.

To the victims of typhoon “Pablo” in Philippines,
I wish generous people will give financial help,
To lighten the burdens of the lost of love ones,
May the power of healing filled in their hearts.

I wish all people around the world to stop the war,
Give love instead not only because it’s Christmas,
I wish they are not wasting their time in killing,
Be a person who saves life not to waste life.

Christmas Everywhere

Is it Christmas everywhere?
Christmas parties and stuffed teddy bears.
Songs of merry Christmas delight.
Snow covered rooftops glowing at night.
Gifts of sparkling diamond rings.
Christmas memories and special things.
Holiday feasts and decorated doors.
Chocolate covered cherries, Oh! Give me more.
Trips to the mall to buy gifts galore.
Paying with plastic I depleted my stash.
Let us make a loan I need more cash.
Is it Christmas everywhere?
Are you sure without a doubt?
Because some poor child this Christmas will be without.
Give hope and love.
Give prayers and faith.
For those lonesome people on this Christmas day.
Is it Christmas eerywhere?
With war overseas?
People dying and starving,
and no shoes to cover their feet.
Is it Christmas everywhere, with so much poverty?
Families who go hungry, with nothing much to eat.
What about the homeless and natural disaster stricken lands?
It would make this Christmas merry for the wealthy to lend a hand.
With death and crying, and cold and mourning,
an unfortunate road to a path with no glory.
Oh! What a very sad Christmas story.
My home is my castle that shelters me,
but don't forget the homeless that beg on the street.
So, make this Christmas merry if you're able to give.
Share your heart with someone and allow them to live.
The best Christmas will be without a doubt,
God will bless you for giving to those who are without.

Christmas in the Middle East

Said the soldier to his wife at home,
do you see what I see?

Way up in the sky, my dear,
do you see what I see?

A rocket, a rocket, dancing in the night
With a tail as big as a kite...
With a tail as big as a kite...

Said the soldier to his only son,
do you hear what I hear?

Ringing through the sky, my boy,
do you hear what I hear?

A bomb, a bomb, high above the sands
With a voice as big as the sea...
With a voice as big as the sea...

Said the soldier to his president,
do you know what I know?

So safe at home, Mr. President,
do you know what I know?

Men, men are dying in the sand
Let us bring them home
Let us bring them home

Said the Poet to the people everywhere,
listen to what I say!

Pray for peace, people everywhere,
listen to what I say!

Our nation, our nation, rising to its feet
Its strength will bring us peace today
Its strength will bring us peace today.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------
Based on the "Do You Hear What I Hear?" Christmas song written in October 1962 with lyrics by Noël Regney and music by Gloria Shayne Baker.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------While Christmas approaches nearer to our hearts and homes, it is important to remember our brothers over-seas. Everyday, people are dying in wars that should have ended long before they begun, and now, in a time as great as any, we must remember that peace is not impossible, but rather grows in the hearts of all whom maintain it.

This Christmas, let us do our part.

Christmas 2009

Recession made Christmas harder than ever before
Family’s splitting – money the core
Dad’s leaving to live on the street
So that young hungry mouths are able to eat
That some extra cash might be in the house
and children might learn what Christmas is about?
But without Dad gone, roof would be lost
for the bills are much higher – we can’t meet the cost
No longer can the average family budget
2009, jobs lost, even working struggle to afford it
Commercialism needs to stop building hopes and dreams
Childern don’t understand you are busting at the seams
Disappointment reigns as kids outside taunt and tease
No longer we fit in we’re all on our knees
Sinking. Even love has fallen apart
We don’t want this Christmas just haven’t the heart!
Expectation lower, depressions set in
Politicians not helping the hole we’re all in
Instead raising taxes they’ll crucify more
and this miserable life could be at your door
Will someone tell them that family should be together
sharing love, life, hopes dreams whatever they weather

An Angel

An angel did befriend us, on earth, before one Christmas day.
Some say she was a comet, some say she was a star.
I say she was a gift from God, here to light our way.
She was a thing of beauty that shone across the land.
Leading to a humble manger, found in Bethlehem.

And what could be so important, for her to come our way?
A savior to our lands, and yes, our hearts and souls…
Triumphantly born on Christmas Day.
That day he was born the heavens truly did rejoice.
And she, a glorious light, continued to beacon forth God’s love.

Such an important part, that angel was given on that day.
She was a beacon to our hearts and the gifts of love…
Guiding the Wise Men and shepherds endlessly along their way.
Thru her we learned lessons, such as: patience, hope, and how to give…
And yes, she led us to the Wondrous Man, who taught us how to live…

The Tragedy of the Banished Revolutionaries

The Tragedy of the Banished Revolutionaries.

Epochs apart, yet,
bound by conscience,

Buddha,
Jesus,
Moses,
Muhammad,
Ram.

Enduring the whispers of time,
through creeds professed,
sermons preached,
and a million sins confessed.

Though,

the essence,
of these banished revolutionaries,
is ceremonially muted by ritual,
and gleefully crushed under,
grandiose edifices,
that serve Religion Inc.

"And the meek shall inherit the earth",
an incendiary thought,
conveniently discarded,
for the pie in the sky that must be sought.

The tragedy of the banished revolutionaries,
stings.
stabs,
whispers still,
for us to hear,
through the din of the cacophony of prayer.

Buddha,
Jesus,
Moses,
Muhammad,
Ram.

The tragedy of the banished revolutionaries,
persists,
each day that we choose,
to shun the meek,
and mouth conscience-salving prayers,

for yet more silver,
and yet more silk.

Christmas Shopping Parking Lot

A crowded lot
Cars vying for space
Large and small
Over a patch of ground
To call their own
The people no better
As inside the stores
It is a race
To get "that"
Before somebody else does
Long, crowded lines
Parking lots empty of space
People unaware
That they provided
The inspiration
For this poem

The Christmas Box

I want to tell you a story,
about one Christmas morning.
The snow was falling,
and the wind was roaring.
Holly and Christmas ferns decorated the door.
Gifts piled high around the tree on the floor.
Home baked goods from the kitchen filled the air.
The children opened their gifts with great care.
Time stood still for a moment when,
I reached for the box to open.
The box was white like snow.
Delicately tied in a big red bow.
Inside the box was a gift for me.
A tiny silver bell laid silently.
I picked it up and it begin to ring.
The music of Christmas, so charming.
My little girl said, "I hope you like your present too."
"Every time you ring the bell, a note of love from me to you."
A silent tear fell from my eye.
What a beautiful gift, and such a surprise.
I placed the bell on the mantle with care.
Even today it still sits there.
This happened many years ago.
The Christmas box with the big red bow.
A tiny silver bell plays a precious tune.
A note of Christmas joy from me to you.

Country Christmas

“Country Christmas Carol” --- dedicated to my family

by Miriam McCue (creator of flamingo art, & poetry.so far.)

We love to sing Christmas songs,
My Grandson Bubba and I.
And when we sing Country Christmas.
We almost make the angels cry.

A Merry Country Christmas
To all those great Country Folk,
And even to the City Slickers,
Who also love to drink and smoke.

We’ll take a drink for Bubba, Aunt Mike and Cousin Jim,
And hope that this Christmas,
They’ll say a prayer and sing a hymn.

Gather round the still,
Country People all.
 And hold up Uncle Bill
So the old coot doesn’t fall.

A Merry Country Christmas,
One full of country joy.
Little Willie wanted a 12 gauge,
But all he got was a toy.

What If Christmas Never Came

What If… Christmas Never Came??? What if Christmas never happened? What if Christmas never came? Things around here would be different! It wouldn’t be the same! What if the baby Jesus was never born in a manger? Mankind would be in serious trouble. We’d all be in danger! If the baby Jesus wasn’t born. There would be no nativity. We wouldn’t be able to display this during our “festivity.” It’s almost like this now! It’s an “ever increasing business.” It seems like nearly everyone wants “Christ out of Christmas!” Why does it seem like Christmas is losing it’s true meaning? The very words; “Merry Christmas,” seem to be quickly disappearing! Many say; “Happy Holiday.” They worry they may “offend.” Having a “holiday” without Christ…. Once again! We need to put Jesus Christ back into our CHRISTmas season! He is what Christmas is about! HE is the very reason! May we all take some time to rejoice in our savior’s birth. May there be shouts of JOY! From the corners of the earth! Let’s not take Christ out of our joyous celebration! We need him so much right now! All over this great nation! May we bring to him a heart of love for everything he’s done. As we bring honor to Christ. God’s precious son! May we continually offer to him a heart filled with praise! Not only at Christmas time… But all of our days! By Jim Pemberton

More than weather, can be frightful or Unseasonal Christmas

Used to be the weather was frightful
People covered themselves from head to toe
Now, despite the fact it’s Christmas season
I see more sand, than I see snow
The temperatures keep on elevating
To the moon, they just seem to rise
Oh, where is the Christmas of yesterday
The rosy cheeks, windows fogged with ice

It’s just too warm now for Christmas
Too hot to shop, too hot to run around
Santa’s working at the pole in a speedo
That’s nothing, we wanna see come to town

Frosty, it seems we’re not gonna see him
Heat miser, now, has gotten his day
Can’t ole Jack Frost do something about this
And chase the warm weather away
No need to chop wood set for burning
The heated air replaces that in the hearth
I hope it gets cold and very soon, too
Because Christmas puts warmth in everyone’s heart

It’s just too warm now for Christmas
Too hot to shop, too hot to run around
Santa’s working at the pole in a speedo
That’s nothing, we wanna see come to town

Oh, when Christmas day finally gets here
Right now, I’ll tell ya, all I wanna see
Are people with scarves and gloves on their hands
And snow bringing life to all barren trees
I want the temps to chill me right to the bone
That’s when I’ll know it’s Christmas time
Who wants to look up and see a sleigh
With a fat man in a speedo, flying around

It’s just too warm now for Christmas
Too hot to shop, too hot to run around
Santa’s working at the pole in a speedo
That’s nothing, we wanna see come to town

Upon this Christmas Day

He sleeps there in a stable
The babe born to the world
Both mother, father watch with care

Though swaddled in a cloth
He is born, yet, to be king
With but just rags for Him to wear

This special morning
The sun now shines bright
From stars there in the Heavens
To the rise of morning light
The world now is much brighter
As angels, too, now play
There’s hope and happiness to share
Upon this Christmas Day

For within the early morning
Angels brought the sky a voice
Calling forth those who wish to hear

Along then, came all others
Knowing truth within their hearts
That all now have nothing to fear

This special morning
The sun now shines bright
From stars there in the Heavens
To the rise of morning light
The world now is much brighter
As angels, too, now play
There’s hope and happiness to share
Upon this Christmas Day

Go forth and tell all others
Who had no chance to hear
The news of hope and of the joy

Let them know the Gift of God
That comes to save us all
His son sent as this little boy

This special morning
The sun now shines bright
From stars there in the Heavens
To the rise of morning light
The world now is much brighter
As angels, too, now play
There’s hope and happiness to share
Upon this Christmas Day

My Last Poem For Christmas!

This is my last poem for Christmas.
I have so much I must do!
I have family and friends to visit.
I wish you all the best too.

     Come follow me in my travels;
Let's start right here on the NET.
There are people I need to encourage,
Some new friends, I've recently met.

Many are sad, ill or lonely,
I'm hoping to bring them some cheer.
Then I'm off to visit some old folk'
     Who've no family anywhere near.

I'll sit and listen to stories
Of times when they all had great fun.
I'll laugh, then we'll sing songs and carols,
About Christmas and Jesus, God's Son.

I'm trusting the peace of this Christmas,
Will be a great blessing to you.
That each of you will gain inspiration,
To carry you all the year through.
     HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

Christmas Tears In Heaven

Does Jesus cry in heaven because of what folks do
With parties held on Christmas with lots of Christmas brew?
Does Jesus cry on Christmas because the churches close,
They think that few will come there; some other place they chose?
Do angels cry there with Him because of few who sing
The songs with awe and wonder without loud drums and strings?
Do all the saints cry also because this sacred day
Is missing on the calendar in oh, so many ways?
No Christmas tears in heaven? I wonder how could be
When Calvary’s tree’s forgotten, replaced by Christmas trees?
No room that night back yonder, no room for Him today--
It should bring sadness to us, but too many are astray.
They say that up in heaven no one’s supposed to cry,
But as I think about this, I have to wonder why.
Are there no tears in heaven because down here below
Folks desecrate our Savior with places that they go
On Christmas Day especially, when angels up above
Once sang a precious story about His wondrous love?
The Christmas tears in heaven may be shed after all
Because too many people no longer hear the call.
Too many think that Christmas is all of old Saint Nick,
The presents and the parties and reindeer paws that click.
It must not be Christ’s birthday; He gets few gifts that day,
But oh, the money spent then for another’s gift display!
We’re promised in the Bible that God will dry our tears,
But I wonder if in heaven that tears may still be here?
I hope that they aren’t crying because of what I do
On Christmas Day for Jesus or others all year through.
May Christmas tears in heaven be never shed for me;
I want to honor JESUS more than the gifts I see!
I want to make Him special, first in all I do and say,
So Christmas tears in heaven aren’t shed for me today!

A Christmas Celebration

A Christmas celebration,
With the family gathered near,
A ham in the oven,
The boys with a cup of cheer.

Having such a good time,
The kids running all around,
Playing hide and seek,
Trying not to be found.

A festive celebration,
Laughter thru out the house,
Everyone across the nation,
Loving their special spouse.

Too soon the day is over,
But everyone tuckered out,
You look out your window,
As the kids all start to shout.

Snow has started falling,
Time to start again,
Guess we missed our calling,
We’ll be kids instead of men.

Snowball fights in the valley,
There’ll be skating in the pond,
Don’t sit around and dally,
When we’re making our special bond.

A big fire in the backyard,
Everyone gathers around,
Time to get warm and cozy,
We all seem to be spellbound.

Sleigh bell they are a ringing,
As the neighbors come in from the town,
Everyone starts singing,
No where could you find a frown.

Another Christmas is ending,
And what a day it has been,
Finished with all the baking,
Now waiting for the New Year to begin.

The True Meaning of Christmas

The True Meaning of Christmas! During this Christmas, let’s celebrate Christ’ birth. It was for all of us that he came down to earth. As we think about Bethlehem and the baby boy… We shout glad tidings to all! And peace and joy! This young child was to one day touch all of mankind. His message of salvation… Today… You can find! As we celebrate and fill up with holiday cheer… This same Jesus is alive today… And is always here! Though 2000 years ago, he was born in a manger... You can know him NOW! He doesn’t have to be a “stranger.” Won’t you spend some time and reflect on Christmas’ true meaning? It’s in the merciful arms of Jesus that you need to be leaning! The good news of Christmas can certainly be found… Across this nation. Every city… And town! This same Christ can bring peace to your life today! He loves you much more than words can say! May HIS love bring peace and healing to your weary soul… It’s only in him, that you can be complete and whole!!! By Jim Pemberton

Jack Frost

The candles are electric this year.
The coke advert lets us know Christmas is near
and the people take refuge in their homes and the taverns.

The bees have dies and the trees droop with sadness
as Jack Frost bites in the wind.
There is no Christmas spirit to warm my heart
as people worship the tv set
and give thanks to wallace and gromit.

Marks and Spencer will take care of the kitchen
and DVDs will pass the day
as family grudgingly comes together
and bygones are painfully remembered.

Soon, it is the new year
but by February
all that can be heard
is the sound of breaking resolutions.

For Jeramiah Jay Cook

Late at night, my eyes are burning
as I try not to cry.
I hold my breath and wonder
why you had to die.

I try so hard to fight the tears
as I lay around and dream.
Memories of younger years...
I choke instead of scream.

You battled many problems
and overcame many things...
and you were only a child,
No, an angel without wings.

You never had the most attention,
but you never seemed to complain.
But suddenly everyone’s in tears,
just whispering your name.

You won't get to live the life
you very much deserved.
No job, no kids, just shattered dreams
because you've left this earth.

You were only sixteen.
Its not right that you're gone.
Your heart quit beating,
but didn't quit loving.
Your spirit will live on.

My heavy heart is filled with regret.
I didn't say I love you, or goodbye.
And with memories I'll never forget,
you taught me how to fly.

Sometimes I wish I could turn back time,
if only for a day.
After all, God answers prayers,
but this one is thrown away.

My vision is blurred with tears,
I miss you so bad.
But I close my eyes and see you clear
and don't feel quite as sad.

Pretty soon I'll be grown up
but you'll still be sixteen.
but like you said,
God has a plan,
and in the end I'll see.

*Note*
Jeramiah Jay Cook, my cousin, "buba" and friend passed away Christmas of 2004 at a party.
Rumors fly about what it really was. Alcohol, pills.. it had only been 2 months since his own
mothers death (mine had died in 96') and so he got his Christmas wish.. to spend it with his
Mom. He has been having a really hard time with with substance abuse, but it was far from
what I expected when my Aunt called Christmas morning.. Someone I had always looked up
to, and grown up with.

Why do many people wait until December 24

Why do many people put off buying gifts until Christmas Eve?
That's not a great thing to do, in fact it's very hard to believe.
Why do these people wait until December 24?
They have to walk through overcrowded stores.
People who do this learn that many of the best items have been bought.
Many people think shopping on December 24 is a great idea but it's not.
Please don't wait until Christmas Eve or it will be something that you'll regret.
You don't even have to leave your house to shop, you can shop on the internet.
If you wait until Christmas Eve, it will cause unneeded stress.
Shopping earlier is better and the frustration will be far less.

New July Holiday

Warmth that flows within the seasons cheer,
To have peace on earth proclaimed again,
A giving time for all women and men,
To be able to see the children faces clear.

Smelling the pine that frames Christmas time,
Gloriously celebrating his birth so sincere,
Christmas in July comes but once a year.
Guiding happiness in this season’s prime.

Serving picnic cuisine with prayers enriched.
Family time together bringing love to all,
Dreaming of Christmas in July breaks a wall.
Bringing memories of an episode of Bewitched.

Memories Of Christmas

Memories of Christmas through the years,
Have brought lots of laughter and many tears.
Memories of those who have gone on home,
Sometimes leave us sad and alone.
The good times that were had by all,
Grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, their happy faces I recall!
The gifts that were given, the fellowship we shared,
The love we all had, showed each other we cared.
The trees were so pretty, the food, oh so good,
Sometimes we would go caroling in the neighborhood.
We would exchange gifts by drawing names,
Some would get clothes, others might get games.
The homes would be decorated with ornaments and lights,
And we would all feast on the many delights!
There would be cakes, cookies, sandwiches, pies, and punch,
Some might eat a lot, others would just munch.
Before you knew it the night would be gone,
And the wait for next year would seem so very long!
But Christmas means more than just these things,
As we remember the birth of the Christ child and the salvation He brings!
He came into this world in a meek and lowly way,
Born of a virgin and in a manger lay.
The Shephards were frightened as the angels came to say,
The great news of His birth on this special day!
Born in Bethlehem, God's only son,
Savior from our sins, He is the only one!
So as I remember the Christmas's of old,
The greatest of all, was the one the prophets foretold!

What If Christmas Never Came

UNSUPPORTED CODE What If… Christmas Never Came???

What if Christmas never happened?
What if Christmas never came?
Things around here would be different!
It wouldn’t be the same!

What if the baby Jesus was never born in a manger?
Mankind would be in serious trouble. We’d all be in danger!

If the baby Jesus wasn’t born. There would be no nativity.
We wouldn’t be able to display this during our “festivity.”

It’s almost like this now!
 It’s an “ever increasing business.”
It seems like nearly everyone wants
  “Christ out of Christmas!”

Why does it seem like Christmas is
 losing it’s true meaning?
The very words; “Merry Christmas,”
seem to be quickly disappearing!

Many say; “Happy Holiday.”
They worry they may “offend.”
Having a “holiday” without Christ….
Once again!

We need to put Jesus Christ back into
our CHRISTmas season!
He is what Christmas is about! HE is the very reason!

May we all take some time to rejoice in our savior’s birth.
May there be shouts of JOY! From the corners of the earth!

Let’s not take Christ out of our joyous celebration!
We need him so much right now!
 All over this great nation!

May we bring to him a heart of love
 for everything he’s done.
As we bring honor to Christ. God’s precious son!

May we continually offer to him a heart filled with praise!
Not only at Christmas time… But all of our days!

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION IN MY CITY

Many Christmas Trees are seen
around the Yule season in my city;
they all are very tall and beautiful,
but the Rockefeller Plaza's Norway spruce
is the most gigantic and spectacular
with its multicolored, gleaming bulbs.

Come to the city, where kids turn into angels:
they seem real cherubs being sent by Heaven itself,
and these angelic messengers love to play
their carols to announce Jesus joyful birth;
come closer, look up and hear those voices greatly
rejoicing in this bright corner of the earth!

Sit down in front of it and dream
of the gifts stacked underneath your pretty Christmas tree,
but the most precious is this one, only decorated with lights;
and its green color and sheer simplicity,
can begin making a glorious memory!
And which carol will you sing for the crowds?

Christmastime is a wonderful experience on New York City's streets:
stores, pubs, restaurants and shops dress up with dazzling decorations,
every street has a Santa ringing a bell and spreading good cheers;
where else can you find kind folks wishing strangers a Merry Christmas?
On Christmas Eve, Saint Patrick's Cathedral echoes with hymns...
and Child Jesus smiles at children as they caress His soft face.

Cultures Shaped the Wreath

This symbol, the wreath, in cultures of our past
In our modern world, a Christmas ring that's here to last
Made of flowers, leaves, twigs and various fruits
Around the world their decorated, in individual suit

Strength and harsh winters, symbolised by the evergreens
Eternity in it's circumference, for many Christmas winter scenes
It's now so much in our culture, and forever it will last
To the Greeks and the Romans, I salute your cultural past

The Following of the Pipes

On this cold winter night
A horror unfurls
As they leave their trenches
Under the Bagpipes skirl

It's Christmas Eve
In World War One
Over the top they leave
The killing has begun

Knee deep in mud
Barbed wire and bodies
The piper laments
Their bravery embodied

To march into battle
With their weapon of pipes
Whilst bullets and bombs
Leave the theatre in strife

Onward they march
Turning men into hero's
The battle of the Somme
Last centuries ground zero

What makes such a man
To enter a war
His weapon of music
That they follow him for

Amongst the men that fall
Others pick up their guns
When the piper falls
Their is no one

On this cold Christmas Day
The horrors have been unfurled
As one looks over the trenches
To a different world

But the very next day
In the distance you will hear
The sound of the Scottish Bagpipes
Leaving their enemy in fear

In memory to all who fell at Christmas time, and especially to the pipers
who used music as their weapon, we will remember them, as all will be remembered

The Greatest Christmas Present

The greatest Christmas present came down from far away,
Was laid there in a manger upon a bed of hay.
Not wrapped with fancy ribbons, in paper or in bows,
But with some strips of linen that they call swaddling clothes.
There weren’t a lot of people to see it on that night,
And it wasn’t that unusual, but such a simple sight.
You see, it was a baby, born there in Bethlehem,
With nowhere else to lay it—the blessed Son of Men.
The parents were not wealthy, just plain in every way,
But oh, the child that lay there upon that bed of hay!
This child had come from heaven through special virgin birth,
Had come to save His people here in this sinful earth.
Some shepherds heard the message from angels in the sky
Who sang in a great chorus of this child from on high.
If you could just imagine the home this child had lived
Before He left His Father, this present now to give,
You’d wonder why He did it, why such a sacrifice,
To come to save lost sinners, on Calvary give His life,
Would you say as I now do it: “This is a present great,
I think I will now open this present and not wait”?
For look beyond that manger; a tree there now you’ll see,
Not decorated fancy, but placed on Calvary,
Its branches hold His arms there, its frame is soaked with red;
The blood flowed from His body as there He hung and bled.
Yes, the greatest Christmas present was God’s eternal love
Wrapped in this precious body that came down from above.
He took the wrath and anguish that we deserve today,
The hell we should have gone to to suffer there for aye.
And all because He loved us! My, what a present there!
The GREATEST Christmas present with you I gladly share.
Will you come now receiving this gift so great and free
That God sent down that morning from heaven for you and me?
Will you trust His forgiveness from all your sin and shame?
Oh, open now this present! And call upon His name!

Christmas Sight

Christmas seems to be lost in a commercial haze,
and hearts freeze over any retail deal.
Human kindness ebbs in greed's burning fire,
while good will toward people seems less real.

Whatever happened to the true Christmas spirit
and why has greed's spell taken hold of human hearts?
The holiday season seems less merry now,
as the gift of brotherly love is run over by millions of shopping carts.

Has the heavenly light of Christmas love
been lost to the darkness of commercial gifts?
Souls seem to latch on to these material things,
ignoring the wounds made from these man made drifts.

Has the holiday season lost the Christmas glow
that once flourished in love's golden night.
The mad rush that Christmas now brings,
tells me that human kind has lost its Christmas sight.

Why Do We Take Christ Out of Christmas

Why Do We Take Christ Out of Christmas? Christmas is the only holiday we often don’t call by name. We often forget about the true reason that Christ came. It’s the only holiday that we often call “a holiday.” It’s true meaning, is often, taken away! It’s more than the tree and all of the glittering lights… It’s time to think about the Bethlehem star so bright! It’s more than going shopping at the malls… More than, “Jingle Bells,” or “Deck the Halls!” It’s more than seeing how many people we can buy for. Or that clearance sale, you’re willing “to die for!” It’s more than buying the “newest in entertainment.” Or receiving a gift that may “cause an embarrassment.” Beyond all of the presents and all we truly believe in. Let’s all come to Christ Jesus and receive him! Let’s think about his birth, and his death on the cross! Without HIM… The true meaning of Christmas is lost! He brings the hope, joy and cheer that’s needed! Won’t you listen to his voice? That often goes unheeded? Christ is what’s important! And shouldn’t be left out! He’s what matters! And is what Christmas is all about! Let’s be joyful! It was for all of us that he came! And take this time to bring honor and glory to his name! By Jim Pemberton

Christmas is Real

When we consider the losses and grief,
if we arrived at the manger.
Then Christmas is real...

If one nation is relieved by another,
even if we bury our dead.
If we arrive at the manger then
Christmas is real.

If in prayers, we bond with the hurting
world on a global basis.
Erases the fears and arrives at the
manger.
Then Christmas is real.

Christmas is real when each of
mankind reaches out with love
to another.
The reflection of his eyes will
show from the manger.

God Bless all the troops serving this Christmas.

AR RAMADI, Iraq - "I'll be home for Christmas" are the final words I said to my mother as
I made my final call to her last spring while I was on my way to Iraq. We agreed never to
say "goodbye." I stated a similar claim to my wife. "Goodbye" has a finalization connotation.

"I'll be home" is a statement of confidence.

Five unexpected extensions later and we're still here. It's Christmas in the desert for us.

Christmas Traditions

Christmas Traditions
     By Dane Smith-Johnsen

It was the Day after Thanksgiving and every store in town.
Had planned to opened wide its doors before daylight could be found.
It was an outlandish sight to see people sleep overnight.
Shoppers camping on sidewalks people waiting in the moonlight.

The Christmas shopping season was formally set in motion!
Hustling, bustling, getting, and grabbing: bikes, pipes, and lotion.
TVs, wreaths, computers, briefs, trees, ties, anything money buys.
Some starry-eyed children sway singing with Santa beneath skies.

Meanwhile, Jesus Christ, the nativity, and live manger scenes
Attempt to teach people what the Christmas season really means.
A few carolers come singing along their neighborhood streets.
And the folks that they sing too, with big smiles, surprise them with treats.

A God loving soul amid the clamorous celebrations,
Gathers his family, to make costumes and preparations.
Mary, Joseph, Jesus, shepherds, and the three Kings with gifts, myrrh.
Reverently, they reenact our blessed Savior's Holy birth.

This poem was written for Carolyn Devonshire's Christmas in Your Town contest.
Poetic form: A narrative written in couplets.

FESTIVE DECORATIONS AND HYMNS

Many Christmas Trees are seen
around the Yule Season in my city;
they all are very tall and beautiful,
but the Rockefeller Plaza's Norway spruce
is the most gigantic and spectacular
with its multicolored lights that resemble stars.

Christmas is a wonderful experience on New York's City busy streets:
stores, pubs, restaurants and shops dress up with decorations so dazzling;
where else can you find a Santa ringing a bell and spreading good cheers...
wishing New Yorkers and visitors a Merry Christmas with a tone so thrilling?
On Christmas Eve, Saint Patrick's Cathedral echoes with joyful hymns,
and Child Jesus smiles at children as they caress His soft and divine face.

Christmas 365

I'm still enjoying the gift. Praise God! Christmas is not over for me. I'm still shouting
in victory not for the gifts under the tree but due to the fact that God so loved me that gave His only begotten Son to me. Do you want to enjoy and celebrate Christmas 365 for the rest of your life? Read John 3:16. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life." God gave you a gift. God gave one to me. Did you open it, or is it still sitting there unwrapped waiting for you? I can only advise you to open it by saying this:” O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that
trusteth in him.” God loves His children tremendously so He gave us the gift of life
and life more abundantly by giving us His son with a mission to save us all by dying
on the cross at Calvary. He was conceived immaculately and was born to heal the
hearts that are torn. He lived on the planet earth and performed His first miracle at
a wedding. And he performed many more in his life and still is right now. He knew
His purpose He died and rose on the third day with all power of the earth and
heaven in His hands so that you, me, your family can finally walk in destiny and live
eternally. Yes forever be alive. I love my gift. It took me awhile to unwrap it, but as
soon as I did my life is not the same. I’m still enjoying the gift. Christmas is not over
for me. I’m still shouting in victory for the gifts under the tree but due to the fact
that God so loved me that gave His only begotten Son to me. Yes He came with a
mission for all of us to be forever alive. That is why I celebrate Christmas 365.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosever
believeth in Him shall not perish nut have everlasting life." John 3:16
” O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.”
Psalms 34:8
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life
and have it abundantly.” John 10:10

Christmas Morning (A New Leaf in Life?)

You’re like Christmas morning when I was four
I’m wide awake and can’t sleep
I’m filled with excitement and cannot wait to hear from you again
Each minute has been an eternity since we last spoke
What awaits with morning’s light?
Nobody really knows
We’ll just see how everything goes
I pray it turns out alright
This experiment is cause for merriment
Will more follow?
We’ll see
As for now, like Christmas morning,
I am filled with uncertainty,
but most of all,
an unprecedented ecstasy

WHAT CHRISTMAS REALLY MEANS

If expensive gifts weren't a must,
the Holiday stress would be less felt;
think for a minute of no presents
being given to folks of all ages...
wouldn't it be taken as an offense?

One thought will come quickly
to everybody's mind whose focus contradicts
what Christmas really means;
only its true meaning will make us fond,
scolding us of all the wasted energy.

Childhood was an exciting experience,
waking up on Christmas day with dreamy eyes,
and find lots of toys next to our bed;
just imagine how brats would have felt,
seeing only one present on the messy carpet!

In this high technology age of sour feeling,
kids expect more sophisticated gifts with a hefty price
and they will immediately toss aside those not to their liking;
even having the guts to complain to their parents,
who thought they were doing something nice!

Let's take the trivial jollification out of the Holidays,
not the spiritual one, which is a pure joy to share...
to confirm the scope of the real message
of what Christmas really means to people everywhere,
whose thoughts are turned to the birth of Jesus!

Those Times I Remember Back When

Those Times I Remember Back When

There’s something to be said of those days gone by
and those times I remember back when
the streets were filled with Holiday cheer
and God’s wish of peace to all men.

I remember the distant days of my youth
and the snow covered streets of my town,
of carolers singing their songs of the Truth
and of those who as they listened stood round.

The street light posts were decorated in season
and store fronts looked like Christmas time.
Yet, I never forgot that Jesus was the reason
for the true peace that many still find.

But every year and always without fail
we would go to that place by the waterfalls.
A nativity scene close by the train rails
was so breathtaking it drew one and all.

And another place just up outside of town
held such excitement for all us kids each year.
It was as if the North Pole we had found
and I could feel that Christmas was drawing near.

Just a few pages from past memories
and our Christmas times shared with mom and dad.
Even singing carols in church on Christmas Eve;
one more reminder of the good times we had.

Merry Christmas in This Recession

Merry Christmas to all of you,
I hope that you enjoy your family,
Even if you can’t buy your kids any toys.
The real reason for the season should stand clear,
Especially this year that we are in a recession.
It is a vast blessing that we are here,
Whether we are employed or not,
Whether we are far from friends or near.

Jesus is the reason why wee are here,
And it is a great thing to celebrate his birth,
Because he is worth more than anything we can buy.
So this Christmas look into the sky to give the big guy,
Not Santa Claus, praise for His first day of life.
Husbands’ mega love your wives.
Mom’s and dad’s ultra cherish your kids,
And let them know whose birthday it is.

I don’t have much this year,
But I will still spread cheer.
To be here it is more than a blessing
Merry Christmas to you in this recession.

Season miracle

Okay so here we are again the holiday season upon us approaching and an end to another
year
Most people are happy and children filled with such Christmas cheer
For me in my present times my emotions for the season just can't be sincere
My kids are so far out of state and they won't be here
The man I'm deeply in love with isn't near
While most are hungry for a traditional Christmas dinner and pumpkin pie
I'm here forcing myself not to and will not allow myself to cry
It's his eyes that I need to gaze so lovingly into, that is for what I'm famished
The years apart and the miles between us never caused our love in any way to diminish
Holding my kids tightly is something I miss so much
Oh how I wish they were here so I could see their sweet smiling faces and such
All I see upon closing my eyes is my reaching out to them, and them reaching back to me, I
long so badly for each and everyone of their touch
So while people are listening to the church bells ringing
Carolers that go door to door with their Christmas songs that they will be singing
And to the New Year everyone soon will be in their homes and hearts bringing
I'll be right here wishing on a miracle or two
It could happen you know and something good is just bound to happen soon
I keep my faith, and I open my heart, soul, and mind up and try very hard everyday in
every way to keep right on pushing through
I want to wish a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Seasons Greetings, and a very Happy
New Year to all of you
God Bless each and everyone may all your dreams come true

I Remember the Day

I Remember the Day
     By Dane Smith-Johnsen

I can remember the day like yesterday,
When the snowfall brought much glee,
One Florida church made a wish that year.
Flakes of snow they wanted to see.
Praying with hope, they entreated their God,
Asking together on knees.
“We are so poor and no gifts will there be
For the Christmas tree this year,”
But they trusted in Heavenly Father's love.
I in their eyes great faith saw--
There were dreams that they dreamed and truly believed
“Send Christmas snow, God please.”

To show their great faith in God for the snow,
Paper snowflakes one by one,
Appeared each day in the bright sunlight
Thrilling, enchanting, and fun.
Then, many other people came,
When the snowflakes they did see,
They stayed to pray with those poor that day.
Snowflakes taped where others could see.

Some people not nearly as faithful as these
Came mocking the poor folks’ glee.
And that was the reason (as many know,
In this place of poverty)
That the snow wish to God was repeated
Saying, “Snowflakes, send to us please.”

And the snowflakes they cut for the window with care
Were like snowflakes school children make
With glittery paper of white
And one of the mockers that came there to fight
Remembered the good Lord above
Then, joined in the joy shared that night
And helped make many snowflakes with love.

Thus, Christmas never comes that I don't think about
The snowflakes that appeared one by one.
For the wish that they made was like no other wish
Those poor who had faith to believe
And all that they asked for from Father above
Were snowflakes in Florida showing God's love.
And that's what He gave them Christmas Day.
In the snow that God gave children played.

This is based on a true story... It took place at a State Welfare Office, not a Church.

The Spirit of Christmas

Why do some want Christmas to be everyday?
Do they not see the beauty of that one perfect day?
Do they not realize how life would become
If everyday was just another bright Christmas morn?

Or perhaps these people are wiser than most.
Do they see something the rest of us don’t?
Could there be some secret hidden within
The good-will towards others and peace among men?

I’m certain many of you would have to agree
That there’s something to Christmas besides just the tree
The stockings, the manger, the candy, the wine,
The smiles, the presents are all very fine . . .

But just what is Christmas aside from these things?
Aside from the holiday December brings
Christmas proves there is goodness in all
So why after Christmas does the magic not call?

Perhaps what makes each Christmas have reason
Has nothing to do with the Holiday season
Maybe the source of each Christmas past
Is the people behind it; why can’t their cheer last?

The week after Christmas, the smiles will fade
The turkey, the egg-nog, the Christmas parade
The holidays are over and work will resume
Bringing in people dripping with gloom.

But I challange you to keep Christmas living
All year around don’t cease in your giving
Good tidings and blessing will come unto you
If you keep the spirit, maybe others will too.

A new world could surface out of this cheer
As more people dry their last little tear
We cannot make everyday perfect
But if we try our efforts will be worth it.

This year the spirit doesn’t have to die
On the wings of good people, it can forever fly
With millions of people stuck in full drive
The Christmas spirit truly needs to survive.

The Nihilist - Five: Dog-Tired Days

Parallel went the universe someplace along the line
When autumn French-kissed winter with tongues of leaf and ice;
The lamp-posts dripped drab amber with a dark and dreary shine,
A devil's brew of garnished sleet, elemental egg-fried rice.
Night caved long and colder as day fell short, sedate,
And I felt somewhat older, in my heart a dying spark;
Crying out for love rekindling to alleviate the fate
Of departing in pitch-blackness and returning in the dark.
Tedious treadmill grinding as the Christmas pines were sawn,
Down in the valley decorations sagged and popped and spat;
Sizzling bulbs of neon death, ramshackle and forlorn,
Greeting cards from no one close had piled up on the mat.
My eyes blurred red and jaundiced in a fiery bourbon haze,
Well-past midnight I still sit and hungrily imbibe;
Toasting all the ghosts I knew throughout my dog-tired days,
On glitzy wrapping clawed the wishes I wished to inscribe.
Never has the relevance of nothing meant so much,
The face of unrequited love recedes in mist and snow;
The angels on the Christmas tree bestow no healing touch,
Pull up the covers, settle down, there's nowhere left to go…

A Christmas Thought

Look around you right now, do you know what you see,
You see what most people in the world, only see in their dreams,

Look at the tree, no big deal just a Christmas tree,
Well for some, this is a fantasy, they've never seen,

Look around, do you see the people you're with,
Cherish them, because some people don't know what family is,

Did you enjoy the meal, and give proper thanks,
Somewhere, there's someone, who hasn't eaten for days,

I'm not trying, to make anyone feel bad,
I'm just trying, to make you all realize what you have,

I hope you know, how lucky you truly are,
To spend Christmas with family, not passed out, at some bar,

Did you know there are 86400 seconds in a day,
Have you taken a couple, to tell god "thanks",

I'm very thankful to have my family here with me tonight,
Thank you, for bringing so much joy, to my life

Money this money that

Keep hold of your money for times that are lean
Keep hold of your money from people who are mean
Keep hold of your money so you can get by

Money this money that
Money for that Christmas wrap
Money makes a merry Christmas for some

If I had the money I would feed all who I could
If I had enough money I would do what I should
Pay all my bills and help people out

Money from my bank account has dwindled away slow
Money from my bank account took us to the show
Money from my bank account keeps us alive

I have worked for my money and paid my own way
I have worked for my money to pay where I stay
I have worked for my money and tried to save

With money we gamble and play games of chance
The money can leave through a hole in your pants
I would gamble my money but my kids do come first

I am a slave for money though it does enslave me
I am a slave for money though I try to break free
You are enslaved by money can you not see

We all need money in this day and age
Why does this money cause so much rage
Without enough money we cannot survive

A MEMORABLE CHRISTMAS EVE

It was a cold and dreary Christmas Eve,
the snow was deep so I couldn’t leave.
I was feeling sad and a little down,
most of my folks don’t live in town.
I thought that maybe I could drive to see them,
without a snowmobile that would be a big problem!
If there is a will, there is certainly a way,
perhaps I can see them by Christmas day.
I decided to turn on the television set,
There is nothing good on tonight I bet.
I turned to a Christmas movie for a minute,
it was so realistic that I felt I was in it.
I was feeling tired and was fading away,
I heard Santa outside with his reindeer and sleigh.
I got out of my seat and opened my door,
it was an amazing sight that I couldn’t ignore.
Standing before me was old Saint Nick,
he looked like the Santa Claus from the Christmas flick.
He gestured to me with his apple red cheeks,
To convince folks of this would surely take weeks!
He said, “hop in my sleigh and we’ll ride out of here,
Just leave it to me and my trusty reindeer.”
I hopped in his sleigh and off we went,
I kept telling Santa he was heaven sent.
He dropped me off at my parents' place,
happiness was written all over my face.
I woke up from what was apparently a dream,
I was still at my apartment you see what I mean?
If this were true, it would be hard to believe,
but this still turned out to be “a memorable Christmas Eve.”

Mental Victoms Part II

There is a girl a now
shes almost gotten away
played the game
jumped through the hoops
told me some secrets
while she was there she was sexually assaulted
hey i don't pay taxes
so i don't get to choose the channel
i want to watch on the televisions
that are there for the patients
i might be crazy but you know what
i can still remember what my delusions
are and what the reality is on my better days
for me its like a movie or a song stuck in my head
sexual assaults, and a place to be toyed with, a place to go to die from the age of
16 until you die, a place to run from the insanity you witness to be brought back
and punished with the fact their lengthening your stay and upping your poison
that doesn't heal!!!!

A boy singing in his room
louder
too loud to keep the peace of the unit
was sent to maximum security for just that reason
neighbored with man in shackles and chains
just after Arthur had died
and Andrew ran away
he sang his songs
and one day couldn't get coffee out of a coffee pot
so he twisted the lid
to ease the flow
and guess what
he got a needle in his butt

and the doctor lied to his father about the whole ordeal
and for two weeks after he could no longer participate in gym activities
later that Christmas
they threw his Christmas cards away
saying they were fire hazards

opening the blue pages dialing number after number after number
to report leaky pipes the sewer smell
I'll tell you one thing about those power trippers
the people that work there make it very obvious
they only work there because they are afraid to quit
because they fear they know too much
they are addicted of the group mentality of forcing medications upon those who
don't want it

I've never seen something so ugly
some things in reality are there for reason
some things are there to be changed
but when something creates so many causalities and this is just a few
which i will explain,
one was addicted to drugs
one was probably in need of help
and one was me
but we are all victoms a who gets away
in sickness or in health
would rather die in our hallucinations and illness
than be brought back there
to go through than level of torture to be brought back to the next nightmare
the psychiatrists call better

makes me wonder why soo many of the ill find hospitals just another political
war zone we are all innocent pawns of some unholy war game people with
money. I will find ways to turn the tables, this i swear

On the Holiday throne

This miserable old fat man
should step down and bow out
As he forgot what image he represents
Throw him out in the waste can
As his attitude is not what it's all about.

When representing The jolly old man
and the love and compassion he shares.
It takes an open mind and tender heart.
As Santa has a loving and kind reputation.
Children wait all year long to sit in his chair.

No child should ever be shunned or rejected
Especially by people thought to have authority .
Which Santa is someone kids look up to.
A moment of his time and smile in expected
by all wanting to believe in his legend and story .

Santa himself has reindeer for his pets.
He loves and enjoys all living things
He does not judge from public opinions.
or jump to conclusions and have regrets.
As we know from the song the kids sing.

So if you plan to sit on the Holiday throne
Then think of the children you are going to greet
They have wide eyes and high hopes and trust
They are all different and may be alone
but want to be accepted by people they meet.

To Each Of You

My Christmas wish for all of you,
is that your smiles are many, not few.
The path you take, on your journey through life,
will bring you happiness, and your nights be bright.
Velvet will be the cushion, that breaks your falls,
and rainbows of beauty will follow you all.
You will have peace in your heart, that we all search for,
while any shadows that linger, will be gone forever more.
This is my wish to all my friends near, and far,
our distance may be great, but we gaze upon the same stars.
Merry Christmas from the South, to every corner of the world,
each of you are so precious, Soups finest, diamonds, and pearls.
