Pledge of love and loyalty

This pledge that l,Ntando, make today serves
as my guideline that I shall follow
happily, ungrudgingly and tirelessly
for the sake of our love life.
Indeed l am well aware of the fact that
the beauty of this pledge does not only lie
in word alone but in action as well.

For that reason in every season
I shall show steadfast commitment
to the implementation of this pledge
with a great deal of astuteness.
I therefore commit myself to be your
devoted and delivering husband for
all the years l shall live with you
on this earth.

I shall treat you with the love and care
you deserve as my wife.
Indeed l shall treat you with
the distinction and dignity
that is befitting of the queen of my heart.
That body, that bone, that breath
shall be my mine to treasure,
for sure;
a dearness to promote and protect
for dear life…and love!
I shall stand by and with you in all the
situations of our life.
If the situation demands that we sail,
sail we shall together.
If the situation demands that we
climb we shall together.

I know very well what l am getting into:
I am getting into a marriage that is
overflowing with blessings.
This marriage- with our mutual
will stand the test of time.
I know very well what I am getting into:
I am getting into a relationship that
brims over with a transforming power
of love.

This marriage-with our
mutual commitment –
will transform naivety into maturity
troubles into challenges
pretence into practice
pride into progress
bachelorship into companionship.
I pledge to be your steward and partner
for all times.

I shall value the consultations
and decisions that we make as
husband and wife.
As head of the family I shall do nothing

to derail our love train for anything else
least of all for personal and selfish reasons.
Now and forever

I am your lawful and loving husband…
This pledge that l, Nothando, make today serves
as my guideline that I shall follow
happily, ungrudgingly and tirelessly
for the sake of our love life.
Indeed I am well aware of the fact that
the beauty of this pledge does not only
lie in pronouncements but in practice
as well.

For this reason every season
I shall demonstrate untiring love
and loyalty to you;
a love and a loyalty that is a living
embodiment of our marriage vows.
I therefore commit myself to be your
honouring, supportive and loving wife
for all the years l shall live with you.
I shall treat you with the love and care
that you deserve as my husband.
Indeed I shall treat you with
the dignity and nobility that is befitting
of the king of my heart.
On my mind it is always fresh
that I am the flesh of your flesh.
Green or grown

I am the bone of your bone.
I know very well what I am getting into:
I am getting into a relationship that
elevates me into a kingdom of wifehood.
I shall endevour to put my family first
with all the rights, obligations
and privileges that come with wifehood.
I shall endevour to wipe off and ward off
loneliness and lostness from our relationship,
seeking nothing but your companionship;
banking on your stewardship,
sinking together any hardship.
Since you are mine
I shall not do anything else to undermine
our relationship for personal
or egotistical
Now and forever
I am your lawful and loving wife…

When Carolyn Sent Me a Christmas Card

I was feelin depressed, sick with the flu
Had all that I feared finally come true?
All my dreams up in smoke, burnt up and charred
When Carolyn sent me a Christmas card

Thought “What's the damn use? The Devil's got hold
So tired of this game; I think I'll just fold
Found the right path but the gate has been barred"
When Carolyn sent me a Christmas card

Read one line and cracked an overdue smile
(I guess I could do at least ONE more mile)
Helping me see that it's SIMPLE, not hard
When Carolyn sent me a Christmas card...

For My friend: Carolyn Devonshire

This is a re-write of a poem written on: 12/6/2009...Carolyn was among the first
to welcome me to the Soup and yes, she even sent me a Christmas card...

My Worst Christmas Ever

Snow falls around us
as we hug for the last time
Niether of us let go
Our first Christmas apart
since you met my parents
I feel as if holding on forever
could possibly prevent the end
As I look into your eyes
You brush a tear from my cheek
"I'll always love you," you say to me
As we kiss for the final time
I remember all the time spent talking when we met
Knowing you was enough back then
I never thought I would lose you
We finally let go
You brush back my hair and said not to cry
As you walked to your mom's car
it felt as if I died inside
You climbed in and closed the door
and we waved our final goodbye

To the Ones I Love at Christmas Time- PS Dedication

To all who see the good in me
All that is lovely, sweet and fair
To all who will not see the thorns
Who nourish me with love and care

To dear ones who have loved my rhymes
Who with their words have spread the cheer
To all those who have seen and loved
This poetess consumed by fear

To all those who have cared to write
About me in their poetry
Who’ve dedicated words to me
And filled my heart with ecstasy

To all those whom my heart holds dear
Who are my sweet and precious friends
I send this message out to you
In it my love with yours now blends

This Christmas time I thank my God
That in my world you play a part
You bring me sunshine after rain
With joy you help my day to start

You must know this and thus be sure
Each one of you, I do adore
My life would not as wholesome feel
Had you not drenched its very core

You move me and you make me see
A wonder that's beyond compare
What would I do without your gifts?
I’d surely sink in dark despair

Each one of you, a sparkling light
Upon my heart’s dear Christmas tree
You light my days and shine at night
By giving of yourself to me

And so, tonight my gift to you
Is simple lines wrapped in my love
A very merry Christmas all
I plead from heaven up above

Healing and health and happiness
And wishes that your dreams come true
This place to me, my second home
And it’s because of folks like you.

Christmas Carols

Trevor, Wendy and Sheila they all lived next door
Then there was me and that made us four
We all sang in St Peters church choir in my village home
On Christmas Eve we sang carols as round the village we would roam

We sang at every door in the village on that night
Wishing all a merry Christmas as they turned on their porch light
We sang the entire carol every single verse
Though sometimes the snow would just get worse and worse

All the money that we raised went to Overley Hall
To help keep the place open a benefit to all
Our last carol of the night was always at the York’s
He and his missus couldn’t they half talk

She would play piano and we would sing along
He would sit by fireside joining in the song
After we had finished they showed us to the door
With cake and fruit and a donation even though they might be poor

They had no children of their own so enjoyed our carol singing
We always left with words of thanks and exaltations ringing
We would find our way home it would be after ten
We used to count the money gat ourselves warm and then

They would go home back to the house next door
I would go up to my room and sleep deep that for sure
We would get up the next day and Christmas day was there
Yet Christmas Eve and carol singing was great for us to share

I was just trying to remember the past
trying to remember the good people
 and the bad people,
that i came across on my way,

i want you to know
that you are among the good people
that left a good trace in my life,

once again i just want to say thank you
for passing through my life,
is so short but is wonderful
i want you here forever.

Christmas Sleigh Ride

The sleigh bells jingle merrily across the horses backs,
The snowflakes fall around us, filling the horses tracks;

The silver silence broken by boisterous Christmas songs,
Midnight chimes on the clock over head but we’re still going strong;

The whiskey warms our insides as we pass the bottle around,
Aside from the caroling voices, the night doesn’t make a sound;

We’re snuggled under blankets, breath fogging in the air;
Riding along with family and friends, living without a care!

Talented Retirement

To live a talented retiremant,
i dreamed of a normal retirement,
Meeting classmates again coincidently
Getting together for a cup of tea or coffee,,
To be with the church,
When I retired that all began,
A storytale retirement,
I did participate and did things,
 I have never done before,
I wrote two books, "Living with God",
The next good book"The Sounds of Christmas",
My poems were well-liked by the seniors at the residence,
I gave them as christmas presents one year
Blessing my relatives and friends,
I was featured at the Open House as a guest poet.
They praised my accomplishments,
We had a lovely reunion with my relatives,
The sound of music came honestly,
I taught myself as a teacher to play many songs,
A friend came up to me and said,
That they would like me to play for the birthdays,
I played the piano for the birthdays and socials,
Previously I had sung with the choir,
I participated in bazaars,
A well-respected poet and pianist,
I said to myself, perhaps I have practiced all my life ,
Just to be featured today as a senior today,
I met a future mayor of our city and a bishop of our church,
I had friends that were ministers and lunched,
I thank God for the many accomplishments and blessings,
We have a beautiful conservation area nearby,
Many hikes and lovely walks guested with relatives and friends,
A retirement that is blessed by the Lord,
To have been blessed to share my retirement with my father and relatives,
To have discovered my favorite miracle singer,
These are the many blessings of God and I am truly thankful.

At Christmas And New Year

Altogether gathered
Table full of food

Choir sings a carol
Happy is the mood
Rooftop covered in snow
Icicles hang to
Santa’s brought the prezzies
Two or three for you
Massive turkey in the stove
Absent friends we toast
Soupers all are writing

Although they hate to boast
Nothing like an angel
Decorates the tree

Now is the Xmas season
Everyone can see
Wishing peace upon the earth

Yuletides greetings
Everlasting mirth
As we drift on another year
Regards I send you and all those you hold dear

Framed by Love

You asked me to make sure your husband didn’t drink that December day as I pushed your chair through glass-encased gardens. A friend in need you had always been, I could deny you nothing, but Paul lost it and left town when you died. Living just long enough to see your first grandchild born, it was a three-year battle before cancer put you in that wheelchair. Look at how lovingly Paul holds your hand here, standing by Chris whose smile lit our lives. Chris and I gave the eulogy together as you asked, but you knew that since Chris is with you now. Only weeks after your death did we learn of Chris’s cancer. Tell him I miss our travels as I embrace this photo with my heart’s frame of eternal love.
*For Sidney Lee Ann’s “Picture Frame” contest Dedicated to Jeanett, who saw her grandson born on Christmas before dying in January 2003. Our friend Chris died Christmas Day 2005. The photo makes me think how different life was when we spent all our free time together.

Christmas Eve

Where voices now rejoice in song
And echo through the night,
We join the festive "sing along"
Where voices now rejoice in song
With carols - - it's where we belong;
A fellowship by candlelight
Where voices now rejoice in song
And echo through the night.

A Miracle For You

I wish I could help you each and everyone.
You light up my life and the same I would
like to do for you.
I don't like seeing you feeling so sad.
If I could find that one thing to make it all
better I surely would do it.
Could I sit by your side when you feel the
need to hide from it all?
I would wipe away your tears and try to
chase away your fears.
I would hold your hand and whisper soothing
words to you until you fall asleep.
I pray for you to be free from all your pain and
sadness today...tomorrow...and everyday hereafter.
I wish for you to be able to enjoy everything life has
to offer.
Please know that you my family and friends each and
everyone of you mean the world to me.
For Christmas a miracle to you I would give...if only I could !!!

                                                                       let there be
                                                                   light where there
                                                                is gloom, let there be
                                                             love where hatred stalks.
                                                         Realise hope when despair
overtakes our day, walk in honesty
and truth, carry the shadows of kindness
and humility throughout your life. Be gentle
of heart to family and loved ones, be tolerant of
faith and thoughts of fellow man. Be akin with others
less fortunate than ourselves, be humble in the eyes of
your God. Hold the memories of those passed, distant or
on duty dearly, on this birthday of all birthday's pray for the
infant child of all nations. Peace and your God be with you all.

I wish it happened on Xmas

In this cold wave I walked coldly in cold sweat.
Taking a brisk walk like we shared in the old times.
Where I was headed for, I couldn’t envisage.
But I was just walking hoping to catch a glimpse of something that could be a muse.

I came across a bridge; what seemed like a labyrinth for lost and found souls.
It was calm but very cold. It was still; the stillness seemed like a still alarm.
The sun was not out-of-town. It gleamed and its sheens were much appealing.
The tides were noticeable. They were out-of-the-way and seemed outpaced.

Though the tides were astronomical, the sea lochs on the far side of the waterway
were impressive in what seemed like an assemblage of oak fern, chinquapin oak and
deciduous trees and displayed a mirror image of the trees with a thin misty
atmospheric effect up-swinging as the warmth descend on the wintry water.

Though I walked in cold sweat, I wished for a cold pack
to sooth my icily feelings created by your absence.
Then my wishes began to pop up.
I wish you were there with me. I thought about what you could do with such sights.
I wish you were fleshly present in my heart.
I wish I could share with you this swift serenity encompassed in a deeply impressive
dignified quality with our hands clamped as we briskly walk on Christmas day.
I wish it happened on Christmas.

Christmas blessing to you all

Christmas blessing to you all

Hey you guys, my poetry friends
I write you this today
A song all filled with best wishes
And I just want to say
How great you all have been to me
With your comments oh, so kind
I tell you, on this poetry site
Much happiness I find

I’ve only been here seven months
But it seems like I’ve been here
Communicating with you folk
For about a hundred years
You all have made my life so swell
My thanks to all I give
I will remember this warm site
For as long as I may live.

I wish you so much happiness
For the Christmas and new year
I hope your lives improve each day
That luck is ever near
Your poems I have so much enjoyed
And all your friendliness
Have made each day a special day
For this, you all, I bless.

PROGRESS- Christmas Toys and Joys

The toys in the shops today are different from the past,
with electronics replacing bat and ball.
Even parents get in the mix, and children need be fast,
if they want to play with their new toys at all.
Back-yard cricket is forgotten when the Wii comes on the scene.
Virtual sports replace the games we know.
Invisible balls are slashed at when hit towards the screen
and a cartoon rival hits it back to you.

These rivals in the TV Box will play with you alone,
or you can play with a friend by your side.
Sometimes a couch potato gets up to play and groan,
but keen to join the game with a swing that’s wide.

The DS, Xbox and the PSP keep everyone amused
with puzzles for the brains of young and old.
There’s Pokemon and Mario forever been renewed,
played with concentration; fingers quick and bold.

But the games are put aside when we are called to table;
no fast food today it’s Christmas fare for all.
There’s turkey, pudding, pies and cakes to eat if we are able,
then we often fall asleep on the lounge, or in the hall.

But lives, when shared with others are better for the sharing,
with memories created and sent across the miles.
These keep us going when we feel alone, with no one caring,
then we see their photos; remember friendships and we smile.

Operation: Christmas Child

Sounds of children laughing
Singing and having a good time
Is almost like a fairy-tale
But this time, it's mine.
The little ones are laughing and smiling
Almost as hard as the youth do
Together, we know we'll make a difference
One little kid's dream will come true.
We're doing something special for the world
So others can live with love
So we are giving just a few boxes of stuff
Almost like a little treasure trove.
Operation:Christmas Child
How it brings smiles to my eyes
To see all this hard work
To help a few little lives.
Bailey comes and takes my hand,
"Kristen, come here and see!
We've wrapped boxes full of toys
For little children like me!"
Given so unselfishly,
These children donate so much
Not only gifts, but unconditional love
A hug and a warm touch.
We stuff the boxes full of toys
And wrap them one by one
Soon, we have finished
All the boxes are done.
But we don't want to leave yet
We're having so much fun
So we hold hands and begin to sing
Our voices blending to become one.
We sing together for a while
Then we must break up to go home
But we know we'll still be there
And our voices will carry on.
So I go to bed this night
With happy tears in my eyes
Grateful for Operation:Christmas Child
That boosts so many little lives.

A joy filled Christmas so devine
skipping on the snow and seeing
the red, robust berries on the emerald
green vines.

Caroling and laughter is in the air and
hope, and faith is shared with care.
No other Season can compare.

Everyone is wrapped in hats, scarfs and
gloves. Colorful stockings are filled with
gifts and with love.

The smell of spruce lingers everywhere and
in town center sits Santa, in his massive,
welcoming chair.

Lights are twinkling as bright as the stars
everyone is walking hand in hand.
Nowhere is there a moving car for tonight
the town has become Christmas land.

Sweet and so special is this time of year
when family and friends are so near and dear.

Christmas Everywhere

Is it Christmas everywhere?
Christmas parties and stuffed teddy bears.
Songs of merry Christmas delight.
Snow covered rooftops glowing at night.
Gifts of sparkling diamond rings.
Christmas memories and special things.
Holiday feasts and decorated doors.
Chocolate covered cherries, Oh! Give me more.
Trips to the mall to buy gifts galore.
Paying with plastic I depleted my stash.
Let us make a loan I need more cash.
Is it Christmas everywhere?
Are you sure without a doubt?
Because some poor child this Christmas will be without.
Give hope and love.
Give prayers and faith.
For those lonesome people on this Christmas day.
Is it Christmas eerywhere?
With war overseas?
People dying and starving,
and no shoes to cover their feet.
Is it Christmas everywhere, with so much poverty?
Families who go hungry, with nothing much to eat.
What about the homeless and natural disaster stricken lands?
It would make this Christmas merry for the wealthy to lend a hand.
With death and crying, and cold and mourning,
an unfortunate road to a path with no glory.
Oh! What a very sad Christmas story.
My home is my castle that shelters me,
but don't forget the homeless that beg on the street.
So, make this Christmas merry if you're able to give.
Share your heart with someone and allow them to live.
The best Christmas will be without a doubt,
God will bless you for giving to those who are without.

God Bless Us, Everyone

To all my fellow Soupers,
I wish you all the best.
May you and all your loved ones,
be really, truly blessed.

May the peace and joy of Christmas,
be in your hearts to stay.
Not only now, my Souper friends,
but long after Christmas Day.

I feel so blessed this time of year.
It warms me through and through.
Not just because of Christmas,
but because of friends like you!

The Magic of Christmas

The most magical of holidays
That comes, but once a year
Bringing joy and happiness
Warming the hearts with love
Like a warm cup of hot cocoa
To enjoy on a cold, winter day.

A time of peace on Earth
Goodwill toward men
Helping those in need
By giving from the heart
To show we care.

Where the impossible becomes possible
Anything can happen during the season
As there's a certain magic in the air
Drifting around like fallen snowflakes
That create a gorgeous winter wonderland.

Loved ones gather together
From friends and family
To recent acquaintances
Enjoying the holidays
Creating new memories to cherish.

Christmas brings out the best
Of the people in the world
For love and kindness
Are the greatest gifts
That come from the heart.

Baking Bad

This plate of holiday baking you did bring by
was really kind
I unzipped the zip lock
to get inside
cookies and brownies
and bread of banana
but what was a surprise especially so
was to discover you know
I am
a lover
of corner cut smaller pieces
and cookies of extra crunch
and the ends of the breads
sometimes quite dry
are okay too

happy holidays as well to you!

A Spiritual Christmas Gifts to You

              A jolly old man
Who makes your wishes come true
            A joy of Christmas
Brings such special gifts to you
      She waits for him patiently

          Underneath the tree
Sprinkled with faith and hope too
               My love is a gift
     Two are kindness and giving
Three is a promise to you

           I give you my heart
        Filled with a decoration
             Now and forever
         A sweet communication
Near to me or far apart

Christmas Time

It’s that time of year again,
When families reunite;
We sit together and reminisce,
About everything in sight;

We laugh and joke and carry on,
Like no time has passed;
Reliving those old memories,
That get dredged up from our past;

Playing games and hanging,
With our family and friends;
Hoping beyond hope,
That this night will have no end;

Cause Christmas time is like that,
It brings us all in close,
From the beginning of the evening,
'Til the time we say Adios!
