Santa's Favorite - Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer

Santa Claus has travel worries at the North Pole,
With terrible winter storms brewing there afoot,
He knows Christmas is so close and so he must put
His children first now whom he loves deeply and whole!
And so he must find red-nosed Rudolph to cajole
Him into guid’n his sleigh on Christmas Eve to boot,
For this would bring his kids so much joy—what a hoot!
Rudolph’s red nose bright guiding them from the North Pole!

Rudolph leads Santa’s reindeer on Christmas Eve Night,
While all shout out with joy on this blessed holy night!
Santa’s reindeer love Rudolph in equal measure,
For with him they won’t be lost—oh what a pleasure!
Rudolph’s glowing red nose shines now ever so bright,
As we all with Santa celebrate the Lord’s night!

What If Christmas Never Came

What If Christmas Never Came??? What if Christmas never happened? What if Christmas never came? Things around here would be different! It wouldn’t be the same! What if the baby Jesus wasn’t born in a manger? Mankind would be in serious trouble and in danger! If Jesus wasn’t born... There’d be no nativity. We wouldn’t be able to display this during our “festivity.” It’s almost like this now! It’s an “ever increasing business.” It seems like nearly everyone wants “Christ out of Christmas!” Why does it seem like Christmas is losing it’s true meaning? The very words; “Merry Christmas,” seem to be quickly disappearing! As many say; “Happy Holiday.” They worry they may “offend.” Having a “holiday” without Christ…. Once again! We need to put Jesus Christ back into our CHRISTmas season! He is what Christmas is about! HE is the very reason! May we all take some time to rejoice in our savior’s birth. May there be shouts of JOY! From the corners of the earth! Let’s not take Christ out of our joyous celebration! We need him so much right now! All over this great nation! May we bring to him a heart of love for everything he’s done. As we bring honor to Christ. God’s precious son! May we continually offer to him a heart filled with praise! Not only at Christmas time… But all of our days! By Jim Pemberton 12/05/11

A Christmas Conversation

Daddy, were you alive when Jesus was born?

No honey, he was born a long time ago, over 2000 years ago.

Where was he born Daddy?

In Bethlehem, a small town in the desert in a manger,

Whats a manger Daddy?

It's a place where they kept animals to feed them.

You see when Jesus was born the Inn was full, so
they had to get Mary to a warm place to give birth to Jesus.
that was the only place they could go.

Daddy who is Jesus' Daddy?

God is his Father honey?

But who is Joseph?

The Chosen Father, who God chose to raise him, Mary's Husband

I don't understand Daddy!

God wanted a son, he could not have a son without Mary and Joseph's
help. God asked them both if they would help him, without even thinking
they said yes. God gave to them a great gift, God gave them Jesus.

At that moment God gave us all a great gift, He gave us the Son of Man.

The Son of Man Daddy?

Yes honey, you see God is not Man, not one you can touch, Jesus
was, he healed people who were sick, He showed people how to love God
and how God loves them. There is one more important thing
I want to tell you honey.

What's that Daddy? Jesus did a coupla more things I think are
important, there are many of course but two I like.

Go on Daddy!

Jesus taught us how to love without conditions, like the way I love you
and you love me and your Mom and Brother. But how to love everybody
like that. The most important thing is, is that he died because we humans
broke God's laws, which means we sinned. He died so God would
forgive us.

Wow Jesus really did love us didn't he Daddy...?

Yes he did baby, and the really good thing is he still does and always will.

Come on it's time for bed!

Not until I say my prayers Daddy!

How bout we Pray together tonight?

I'd like that Daddy!

So would I baby, so would I .

Jump up on my back and I'll give you piggy back ride!

I love you Daddy!

I love you too baby, I love you too.........

My Christmas wish is you all have Conversations like this with your
kids. Trust me they bring tears of joy!

May God Bless you all this Christmas Season as he has Blessed me.

From Mary, Josh, Shay and myself MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR

                             With Love.....Taz

A Stranger After Dark

I was sitting on the back porch ‘bout an hour after dark When I couldn’t help but notice a tiny pulsing spark. I thought it was a firefly – It had that kind of glow But I’d never seen the likes of it – what it was I didn’t know It flittered to and fro just like a firefly does I went into the backyard to determine what it was. Just as I approached the place I thought that it might be It flew right up and landed very close to me. Soon I realized it was no ordinary find. What happened next you won’t believe – it nearly blew my mind. A Lilliputian creature stepped from this tiny craft Right then and there I was aware of questions I should ask. He must have been aware of the fear he’d caused in me. I could see my hands were shakin’ -- never thought I’d be set free. His tiny voice became quite clear and in a most convincing tone He said, “My friend, be not afraid – I‘m here all alone.” He appeared to be confused a bit and why, I’ll never know But the fear that he had fostered was about to let me go. He began to tell his story; I let out a sigh I knew I’d better listen to this little guy. Now, he was small in stature; ‘bout a half inch, nothin’ more – Why, I believe that he could pass through the space beneath the door. . He then began to tell me – It must sound like a dream. He was here because of some wayward sunbeam. “I race Haley’s comet to the far side of the sun.” He said, “The race is always over before it has begun. There is a reason for these victories, you see My good ship Omnipresence, right here in front of me.” “Time and space,” He said. “Are always at my command. I can do more things with them than man can understand.” He said, “I spin the rings of Saturn, create firmament at will I flew a mission of atonement to a very special hill.” I asked, “Do you know Jesus? He died upon that hill.” He said, “When all things are settled, everybody will. I led three wise men to him that cold and wintry night The shepherds were there to witness a miraculous sight So you ask do I know Jesus? -- it fills me with such mirth -- This very craft was hidden there at the moment of His birth. I was there to hear the angels when they sang out on high. Yes, I’d say I know Jesus, That’s why I’ll never die.” Written By John Posey 12/18/12

The Song of the Christmas Snow

There is nothing with so much life as a Christmas snow
The crisp air is still as little dancing stars float to the earth
Strong old trees become burdened with drifts of white upon their bows
But seem honored to be dressed in such finery and appear almost to move
In fact, everything has come to life to watch the snowfall.
Then everything is quiet
There is a whisper in the air
It ripples through the trees
See the birds, they are the first to recognize the whisper
As the Masters of Chorus, the birds know it is a song
They sit as true musicians memorizing the lyrics and rhythm
So, the snow speaks, the voice is old, like it has sung this song many times
As the squirrels could tell you this is a lullaby, and they begin to search from their
perches in the trees for the newborn
And life and love has never felt as strong as now
A horse in its pastures stomps his foot disturbed
Though he hears the song the birds do and the lullaby the squirrels hear, he,
along with all of the worlds creatures, could swear he just heard a cry
The squirrels chatter with laughter, knowing they where right and the birds take
up the snow-song to welcome the child they heard cry
And then they stop and the world is silent
The snow has stopped falling
The cry was only a memory from Christmas long past
The child, a child of time whose
Voice comes with the Christmas snows,
To give every soul the chance to hear
The song of joy and love and beginning,
So it is never forgotten;
The song of the Christmas Snow

Christmas Joy

God sent Him to us, to save us from sin His arrival foretold by the sages. The angels rejoiced when so long ago They brought news that’s been told through the ages. Mary the Virgin gave birth to the child Who had come to bring peace to the earth The angels sang carols, spreading the word Proclaiming our Lord’s long awaited birth. He came to bring peace, he came to bring love, He was the answer to all the world’s woes. The shepherds and wisemen came from afar. To follow the star as far as it goes. We like the shepherds must follow the star. It is up there in the Heavens still glowing. If we would banish all wars and distress We must follow wherever it’s going. There is nothing God’s love cannot conquer Freely given to all those who believe. The star shows the way to Christmas joy And blessings of that first Christmas Eve. By: Joyce Johnson

Sir Cliff Richards

“Sir Cliff Richard ”

I do wish I could meet you, properly I mean,
To actually speak to you, would be a dream.
I’ve been to see you three times during the last few years,
Although sitting watching you almost reduced me to tears,
Tears of happiness that is, I hasten to add.
I’ve adored you from afar, since you were not much more than a lad.
Twice I have seen you at Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall,
Doing your Gospel Concert, but there were no seats left in the stall.
So up at the very top we sat.
I was scared to move in case I fell flat.
Then you came on and started to sing.
It was a fantastic experience I would not have missed it for anything.
Although we went to see you in October, they had Christmas trees on the stage,
Because the show was being recorded for the Christmas edition of Songs of Praise.
When it came on television, I videoed it so I could watch it all over again,
And again, and again, and again, and again.
My favourite songs are “From A Distance” and “The Twelfth Of Never.”
I could listen to you, forever and ever.
I also like the song you did for Princess Di.
Although when I listen to it, I really could cry,
Especially the words, “All That Matter’s in the End Will Be,
The Love In You And The Love In Me.
With a 20 Year Tranquillizer Addiction, and Agoraphobia,
I’ve Been To Hell and Back.
But Thank God, My Life Is Now Back ON Track.
I sat with 12,000, People at Sheffield Arena, Just to see You,
Years ago this would have been impossible for me to do,
Now my greatest wish in life is too,
Get The Chance Just To Meet You.

Happy Birthday Jesus

Long ago, one Christmas morn, in a stable a child was born
Innocent, helpless and small
How could we believe He’d someday die to save us all?
On His mother He depended for his every need
How then could we imagine it would be by His blood alone that we’d be freed?
Growing up in a time and place so different from Heaven above
Living and dying here on Earth, what a symbol of His love.

To the cross He lovingly went
Knowing it was for our sins alone that He had been sent
Dragging His cross up to that hill where men were condemned to die
Jesus, our Savior suffered the fate while we were all passed by.

“King of the Jews,” that’s what the sign had read.
Hanging just above His thorn crowned head.
Blood spilled from nail driven hands and feet
As Christ suffered a death most bitter and sweet.

The pain and agony He lovingly endured
To give us the gift of salvation, most blessedly assured.
He never counted the cost of a price that was oh so high
Giving up His last breath so we may never have to die.

Today He walks amongst us, having conquered the grave.
Loving, hoping and waiting for us to accept the gift that He gave
When on that day so long ago He died in our place
Proving the power of God’s most amazing grace.

So this Christmas morning before you race for the tree
Take a moment to thank God for Jesus, for the gift of life eternally.
But don’t stop there, unwrap that gift of salvation today
What better way is there to tell Jesus………Happy Birthday?!

The "Journey Through Christmas"

In my hometown of Hillsboro
A humble, small suburb
There stood a church that was more humble still
In that cozy congregation
We'd teach and learn the Word
And try each day to do the Father's will

But our little congregation
Each year at Christmastime
Would execute a miraculous feat!
The whole town would come out in droves
To view what we'd present
A Christmas pageant right next to the street!

The first vignette was of a home
A modern family
Telling of that first Christmas long ago
The next scene showed the palaces
Of Herod on his throne
When his grim proclaimation he bestowed

Each onlooker could walk or drive
From scene to sacred scene
But either way, observers saw the worth
For every stop would reenact
The story of God's love
From Herod to the blessed Savior's birth

The community seemed hungry
To hear the wondrous news
Of the Messiah, born to die for us
And like them, we were richly blessed
To share with all who came
The spectacle-- a Journey Through Christmas!

That Christmas Feeling

A snowy Christmas is what we all prayed for
Probably because it never happened before
We didn’t need it to have Christmas cheer
But it sure would be nice to see the white stuff this year

You can’t force it; that Christmas feeling just comes to you
Can’t tell you how, but even when it’s overdue..
Life’s trials sometimes get in the way
But if you’re open to it, that Christmas feeling will come to you and stay
…If you’re open, it will come to you and stay.

One Christmas a few years back, I was having a drink in an old country bar
Listening to a guy play Blue Christmas on guitar
An old bar tender poured me another beer, looked over and said
By the shape of your dungarees, it’s been one hell of a year.

Christmas had me thinking, Is this how it ought to be?
Usually it was a Spirit, most would say Holy, which helped me to see
Then I smiled, ‘cause a thought showed me, it might not have turned out okay
If in 3rd grade, Mrs. Harrington hadn’t sat me in your way

That Christmas feeling will come to you and stay …If you’re open, it will come to you and stay.

The bartender saw the new smile on my face
Said laughingly, That newlywed glow will soon leave without a trace
I didn’t have the heart to tell him, but this Christmas it’s been fifteen years
Since I fell in love with you forever, ‘cause it’s the heart that hears

As I drive up to our home, with it’s simple light show
A feeling came over me and it began to snow
I could hear the kids joyfully screaming inside
And I thanked God that he helped me hang on for the ride.

We all feel low at times; it’s just that way
But it you’re open to it, that Christmas feeling will come to you and stay
…If you’re open, it will come to you and stay.

Some have asked about how song turned out. Check for on itunes under my name Shawn Sackman. Thanks.

New Year's Eve

Can’t think about the Year that didn’t last
Can’t fight the time and how it passed so fast…
Voices were cheerful that night
Everyone was full of silver light

I heard the sounds but didn’t care
I couldn’t help but only think and stare…
I dreamed of love that possibly I’ll never share
And of life that was just like a fairytale.

In that second of complete despair
I saw the moon and realized it was all a dare
Then your voice whispered in my ear
Promising me all I needed to hear…

A Homeless Man's Christmas Wish

Christmas day is coming soon
I can hear the little drummer boys beat
As I sleep under a stack of newspapers
At my home here on the street
I have no shade from the summer heat
No shelter from a spring storm
When autumn and winter roll around
I have no blanket to keep me warm
I have no one to talk to
No doctor to keep me well
My life is like the seventh circle
Of an everlasting hell
I have no feast on Thanksgiving
On my birthday, I have no cake
Most nights as I sleep in my concrete bed
I pray and hope I won't wake
I think about the man I used to be
The one that died so long ago
Now all that's left is this scruffy, filthy creature
Who I don't even know
Now that Christmas is here again
I pray to the good Lord above
For a gift that most don't appreciate
Filled with lots of happiness and love
I'm not talking about material things
I can get by without any of that
All I want is a house and a family
Complete with a dog and a cat
I wish every single Christmas season
That my dear, sweet Lord would send me
A beautiful family with warm, smiling faces
Sipping hot chocolate around a Christmas tree
We would have a most amazing feast
A rack of lamb tied up with a bow
Then we would all get bundled up
And go caroling in the snow
Oh, how glorious that would be
To have a family and a few friends
To have people who love me
Even after this life ends
God please hear my prayers
And answer them if you can
Just grant one simple Christmas wish
To this old homeless man

Santa is Real

Christmas eve, wind so cold
Scent of pines all over our home
Tiny, shiny lights and decors
Gifts and presents to give for all

i'm just a little boy who loves Christmas
'cause i receive toys, and candies sometimes
But the best i want to experience,
Is to feel Santa's existence

My mama told a story about Santa
Fat, white-bearded, and in a red suit man
Living with his reindeers in North Pole
Making gifts for kids with kind soul

I put a big sock on my wall before I sleep
'cause they said Santa will put something on it
I have been a good boy this whole year
Hope he will give me the toy I've wished

I woke up, breeze, and felt so cold
It's twelve o'clock midnight, dong! dong!
Scared, frightened, I know I'm not alone
I kept my eyes conscious, alert in my room

I suddenly saw a Man who has a box
wrapped in a green paper, with a ribbon on top
He came near to my room, and found the sock
Happy, calm face, he put the box inside

I closed my eyes, for him to think i'm asleep
He sat on my bed and patted my hair
Said these words to me, and felt his heartbeat
"I love you, be a good boy again next year"

"Santa is real!" early in the morning I've yelled
All was awake because of my excitement
I've showed them the sock with a gift
Told the story of what was happened

Santa's expression is smile, not Ho!ho!
Santa is not fat! but a fit person
His beard and hair is not white, but brown
He's wearing white, shining like a sun!

LET FRIGID WINTER COME

Let frigid winter come,
it feels nice to be lonesome,
seeing myself snuggled up
in a comfort blanket holding a cup
of cocoa by this warm fireplace...
while the wanderer's frozen face
is dotted with the whitest snowflakes
as he rubs his red, freckled nose!

Isn't this an unforgettable moment
to delight me feeling the thrill
of the Season with its distinct chill?
Isn't this the magic of Christmas
when joy is felt in a calm land
by the sound of chiming bells?

Let frigid winter come and cover everything in glistening, deep snow,
and 'though the evening will not have the moon's glow,
brightness can lead my footsteps really far...
shouldn't I play a Christmas song on this guitar?
I will go from house to house and knock on every door...
tingle everyone with great joy by spreading the message of the Savior!

I'm very confident that going back home
stars will gleam and children will roam:
singing, shouting, swirling and throwing heavy  snowballs;
happy angels will be heard on gelid gulls,
but who minds waiting in the bitter cold...
when a Divine Child comes down to redeem the sinful world?

The TRUE Meaning of Christmas

The True Meaning of Christmas During this Christmas, let’s celebrate Christ’ birth. It was for all of us that he came down to earth. As we think about Bethlehem and the baby boy… We shout glad tidings to all! And peace and joy! This young child was to one day touch all of mankind. His message of salvation… Today… You can find! As we celebrate and fill up with holiday cheer… This same Jesus is alive today… And is always here! Though 2000 years ago, he was born in a manger... You can know him NOW! He doesn’t have to be a “stranger.” Won’t you spend some time and reflect on Christmas’ true meaning? It’s in the merciful arms of Jesus that you need to be leaning! The good news of Christmas can certainly be found… Across this nation. Every city… And town! This same Christ can bring peace to your life today! He loves you much more than words can say! May HIS love bring peace and healing to your weary soul… It’s only in him, that you can be complete and whole!!! By Jim Pemberton

A healthy Kenyan Ego Poem

A huge ego breaks off love’s embrace,
A tiny ego slips off love’s embrace,
No ego, no embrace of love!

A selfless ego suffocates from love’s embrace,
A selfish ego wards off love’s embrace,
No ego, no embrace of love!

A super-visual ego overshadows love’s embrace,
A deep-seated ego is colonized by love’s embrace,
No ego, no embrace of love!

A healthy ego humbly looks above,
A healthy ego can lead and also serve...

Its nerves know not pressured blood,
But developing it is almost hard!

SANTA'S SAT NAV

I had a call from Santa
He said he will be late
He's lost his sat-nav in the snow
And Rudolph's in a state.

Rudolph had an idea
He said why don't we pray
For God created Christmas
I'm sure He'll guide our sleigh.

So Rudolph and Santa prayed to God
And asked Him to guide their sleigh
And make sure the children everywhere
Got their presents on Christmas day.

God answered Rudolph and Santa's prayer
And Christmas was really great
The children received their presents on time
Because Santa was never late.

Happy Birthday Jesus

I finally get it.
It has nothing to do with me.
I opened the eyes in my heart
and now I truly see.

I know that I'll be locked up
and that I wont get a toy.
But my heart is beating like a drum
and it's drumming in the Christmas joy.

Happy Birthday Jesus!
Thank you Father for your Son.
The gift of my salvation
after my time on earth is done.

What an awesome present.
There isn't anything I want more.
I asked Him to come into my heart
and He walked right through the door.

I was feeling sad and lonely.
It's hard to be happy here in jail.
But when I think of Jesus' Birthday.
It makes me smile without fail.

Merry Christmas everybody!
I hope you feel it too.
If you've got the bah humbugs.
It's not about me or you.

It's about our Lord Jesus.
The gift that everyone can share.
God gave to us His only Son.
So let Him know how much you care.

I wrote this one Christmas when I
was in jail and thought I lost it
but there it was in my memory.
Merry X-mas everyone and God Bless you.

Humility Perfected

The Great “I AM” that could not stand
Yet held the fate of man in hand.
Jehovah Jireh laid to rest
Upon the milk of Mary’s breast.
The Prince of Peace of priests despised
Would heal the lame and open eyes.
Infant, holy radiant infant
When God became a babe.
Through Christ, a way to God had come
And hope’s foundation laid.
Who scarce can ascertain the depth
And wonder of His birth.
Humility perfected,
When Jehovah came to earth.

For You And Me

It was for you and me ,
That Jesus left His throne,
Bore the scourge and agony,
Shivered His flesh and bone,

It was for you and me,
He took the awry tour,
Towards the dreaded Calvary,
Summed His tortured hours,

It was for you and me,
That Jesus bore the cross,
Paid the greatest penalty,
That death supposed be ours,

It was for you and me,
He wailed the gloomiest cry,
It was for you and me,
Jesus was nailed to die,

Oh, that you and I may see,
Our wickedness beyond measure,
Jesus to set us free,
In our stead bore the torture,

His love mysterious great,
Knocks the door of all men's heart,
His mighty power recreates,
Renews our lives whole to restart,

It was for you and me,
When on the third day death sufficed,
The savior left His grave,
Victorious he arised,

He rose back to His throne,
Sitting by His Father's side,
Prepare! He's coming soon,
Today is to decide,

What is Christmas Really About

Quickly is coming Christmas day,
Perhaps you ponder with dismay
Amidst the shopping and the shouts,
What is Christmas really about?

Is it about reindeer and elves,
The gifts we wish for ourselves?
Is it about wrapping paper and bows,
Stockings stuffed with goodies clear to the toes?

Is it about family, friends, and feast,
The smell of bread baking rising with yeast?
About trees, lights, and cute decorations,
Parties, eggnog, and celebrations?

These commodities make the holiday bright,
But something else is required to make it right;
For Christmas is not about programs and costumes worn,
But about a miraculous baby that was born.

About Mary and Joseph, man and wife,
Who came to Bethlehem pregnant with life.
No room was left for them in the inn,
Shelter was found in a cattle pen.

The time of her delivery would not waiver,
In that stable she experienced labor.
Born into a place smelling of manure,
Christ arrived our salvation to assure.

Nearby shepherds tending flocks by night
Were startled by a glorious light.
Angels while seeking to calm their fear
Came proclaiming this event of cheer.

Told of a birth of a baby boy,
A king, a savior, who would bring joy.
His mission was one of peace,
From our sins to bring release.

Then with haste they went with glee,
Marveled at what they did see;
Found him in a manger yet filled with glory
Then left with excitement to tell his story.

So as we gather this December
May this jingle help us remember,
Christmas is not about dear old Santa Claus
But about the Christ who saves us from our flaws.

Christmas Everywhere

Is it Christmas everywhere?
Christmas parties and stuffed teddy bears.
Songs of merry Christmas delight.
Snow covered rooftops glowing at night.
Gifts of sparkling diamond rings.
Christmas memories and special things.
Holiday feasts and decorated doors.
Chocolate covered cherries, Oh! Give me more.
Trips to the mall to buy gifts galore.
Paying with plastic I depleted my stash.
Let us make a loan I need more cash.
Is it Christmas everywhere?
Are you sure without a doubt?
Because some poor child this Christmas will be without.
Give hope and love.
Give prayers and faith.
For those lonesome people on this Christmas day.
Is it Christmas eerywhere?
With war overseas?
People dying and starving,
and no shoes to cover their feet.
Is it Christmas everywhere, with so much poverty?
Families who go hungry, with nothing much to eat.
What about the homeless and natural disaster stricken lands?
It would make this Christmas merry for the wealthy to lend a hand.
With death and crying, and cold and mourning,
an unfortunate road to a path with no glory.
Oh! What a very sad Christmas story.
My home is my castle that shelters me,
but don't forget the homeless that beg on the street.
So, make this Christmas merry if you're able to give.
Share your heart with someone and allow them to live.
The best Christmas will be without a doubt,
God will bless you for giving to those who are without.

THE STATIONERY BOY

THE STATIONERY BOY

His little dark street
Is at home in the silky cobweb;
His little dark street
Is only loud in the missionaries’ prayers,
It elicits a gaze in very few people,
It is but an uninvited guest to life.

The stationery boy hands out his beautiful fliers,
Like a messenger of his little dark street.
In his big clear eyes a tear is born,
Not as an accusation,
But as wonderful love,
His heart is young and full of hopes
That someday his big silent tear
Shall drop onto someone’s palm.

A new day is born in his wonderful spirit,
Perhaps somewhat cold and strange,
But a new day, still.
Oh powerful destiny, listen to your unloved son,
Wake up the sleeping star;
Wake up the sleeping sun;
Wake up the sleeping hearts of men,
So that the new day may be a friend to your unloved son.

In the inaudible shadows, he has his faithful listeners,
In death he has a faithful visitor,
His young beautiful eyes are more familiar with death than life.
When so many happy children gather around the city’s Christmas tree,
His dear young heart is loudly beating into the deaf nights,
Like a silver bell,
So that his small, dark home would be alight with a gaze.

When the wonderful northern wind brings
Happy children’s voices from afar,
Like a modest Christmas gift,
The stationery boy is building his little kingdom of happiness
In his vivid imagination,
His days and nights may be cold and dark,
But his imagination is bright and completely wonderful,
It shines in the darkness like an angel.

His silver bell is ringing beyond the heavenly dome.
If you want to show a real angel to your kid,
Hurry towards that little dark street,
And you might be lucky enough to see the stationery boy
Before he gets his silver wings.

An Angel

An angel did befriend us, on earth, before one Christmas day.
Some say she was a comet, some say she was a star.
I say she was a gift from God, here to light our way.
She was a thing of beauty that shone across the land.
Leading to a humble manger, found in Bethlehem.

And what could be so important, for her to come our way?
A savior to our lands, and yes, our hearts and souls…
Triumphantly born on Christmas Day.
That day he was born the heavens truly did rejoice.
And she, a glorious light, continued to beacon forth God’s love.

Such an important part, that angel was given on that day.
She was a beacon to our hearts and the gifts of love…
Guiding the Wise Men and shepherds endlessly along their way.
Thru her we learned lessons, such as: patience, hope, and how to give…
And yes, she led us to the Wondrous Man, who taught us how to live…

The Tragedy of the Banished Revolutionaries

The Tragedy of the Banished Revolutionaries.

Epochs apart, yet,
bound by conscience,

Buddha,
Jesus,
Moses,
Muhammad,
Ram.

Enduring the whispers of time,
through creeds professed,
sermons preached,
and a million sins confessed.

Though,

the essence,
of these banished revolutionaries,
is ceremonially muted by ritual,
and gleefully crushed under,
grandiose edifices,
that serve Religion Inc.

"And the meek shall inherit the earth",
an incendiary thought,
conveniently discarded,
for the pie in the sky that must be sought.

The tragedy of the banished revolutionaries,
stings.
stabs,
whispers still,
for us to hear,
through the din of the cacophony of prayer.

Buddha,
Jesus,
Moses,
Muhammad,
Ram.

The tragedy of the banished revolutionaries,
persists,
each day that we choose,
to shun the meek,
and mouth conscience-salving prayers,

for yet more silver,
and yet more silk.

Fallen snow will remind of me/ it is snowing ...
Slowly as in the dream/
Boy word-beads/ with signs on his spine/
He kisses fine/
Your eyelids /

And it snows ... It snows /so slow/
It does/ and you're thinking of me/
'Coz it's warm/ it's better to stay in warmth/
Waiting for summer dim/
It is snowing/ slowly like in the dream/
Flakes/ go round/ playing the music theme/
You've been looking for rescue/
You searched in wine/
But it's in me/
all the rescues are mine/
It is snowing/ the snow is fluffy and white/
If you see darkness/ I'm deaf and blind/
there's the cast of time/ on the arm/
But I discern the light/
Dreams/ upon your eyelids tips/
Prepare you for winter drowse/
And it snows/

Fallen snow/ will remind of spring /
it will crumble and crackle in vain/
It will snow / fluffy /white/ and slow/
And you'll become whole/

Christmas

Children’s voices are raised in praise
In their seducing Christmas plays.
They tell of Herod so reviled,
He would harm the sweet Christ Child.

Hearken to merry Christmas bell
As music for my kyrielle,
Telling of birth so undefiled.
“Born is Mary’s sweet Christ Child”.

They simply can’t contain their joy
At coming of the Holy Boy.
Even three wise men are beguiled
At birth of Mary’s sweet Christ Child.

Two Thousand years ago He came.
And Earth has never been the same.
Joseph worried as Mary smiled
At birth of her awaited child.

God’s angels came to warn the two
What the most evil king would do.
With His bed on their donkey piled.
They’re running with the sweet Christ Child.

This story that does not grow old
For centuries has been retold.
Today the children have restyled
The old tale for the sweet Christ Child.

What If Christmas NEVER Came

What If… Christmas Never Came???

What if Christmas never happened?
What if Christmas never came?
Things around here would be different!
It wouldn’t be the same!

What if the baby Jesus was never born in a manger?
Mankind would be in serious trouble. We’d all be in danger!

If the baby Jesus wasn’t born. There would be no nativity.
We wouldn’t be able to display this during our “festivity.”

It’s almost like this now!
 It’s an “ever increasing business.”
It seems like nearly everyone wants
  “Christ out of Christmas!”

Why does it seem like Christmas is
 losing it’s true meaning?
The very words; “Merry Christmas,”
seem to be quickly disappearing!

Many say; “Happy Holiday.”
They worry they may “offend.”
Having a “holiday” without Christ….
Once again!

We need to put Jesus Christ back into
our CHRISTmas season!
He is what Christmas is about! HE is the very reason!

May we all take some time to rejoice in our savior’s birth.
May there be shouts of JOY! From the corners of the earth!

Let’s not take Christ out of our joyous celebration!
We need him so much right now!
 All over this great nation!

May we bring to him a heart of love
 for everything he’s done.
As we bring honor to Christ. God’s precious son!

May we continually offer to him a heart filled with praise!
Not only at Christmas time… But all of our days!

Christmas Mass

      CHRISTMAS MASS
Dear holy child, I celebrate your birth,
and wonder at the bright and shining star,
that leads to all the joy and peace on earth
we all look for, and it is where you are.

Yes I will light a candle in your name
on Christmas morning, when I'm all alone,
and say a prayer into the burning flame
to thank you for the gift too few have known.

You are my bright and shining star, you know,
throughout my life, in everything I do,
The gift of love is all I have, and so,
I wrap my love in candlelight for you,
Amen...

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas, merry Christmas
What a lovely sound to hear
People sending Christmas cards
Because that day is near.

Merry Christmas to the stranger
And our neighbours too
Merry Christmas to those who don't believe
God really does love you.

Merry Christmas, merry Christmas
Let all the earth rejoice
For our saviour Christ was born that day
Lets praise Him with one voice.

Put Jesus first this Christmas
And let everybody say
Merry Christmas, merry Christmas
Not happy holiday.

Christmas Cometh

Christmas Cometh
by Ingrid Showalter Swift

Through a wind that never stops blowing
the house holds fast to the light
flickering candles in each window
hope calling out over a canvas of landscape base painted
in solid white

Auburn gold shadows creep along the horizon
where morning and night crest like waves upon each other
frothing sudden color in thier blending fight

Ruby red undertones flame up across the frost filled clouds
then die away slowly to golds and then ice gray
and then moonless white

in the lights of a passing car... flakes ignite..dazzle and die away again

an owl ...its bright black eyes
against round white face
calls out

"ahhhhooooooooooo"
swoops down across the vast field
its feathers struck out white
like white flames held aloft..........or flashing silver polished metal
against black forest and gray sky...
against
the now darkening of night

and I am reminded of a book from my childhood
that read...
"Who.... who... who ....are you?"

The candles flicker on dainty dancers of hope
leaping and falling and leaping again...
so like myself...I have to wonder...
do they never learn? do they never give up?

Turning from the window I smile at all the richness of the bright within
the colors of red and green...
the sparkle of packages and bows not yet even wrapped
but that will lie beneath my tree in time
the crackle of a wood fire...the smells of pine bows and of things I have collected
to celebrate these days

and I am merry ...in my soul
ever hopeful ever believing...ever true
ever listening ......

for your key hit

hoping it will still come someday...
if I am lucky...perhaps before Christmas has grown cold
in the hearth and heart once more

the owl calls out again

"Who who ......who are you?"

and I know who I am
I am a woman who loves a man
and for him I keep on the light
and ration like gold
the oil

Do we put Jesus in a Box contest

God came down and became a man
He wanted to fully understand
Since the consequence for sin has always been death
Jesus had to Indore our punishment up until his very last breath
He became the ultimate sacrifice
So all mankind did not have to pay the price
His 33 years on this earth science can fully prove, and his horrific death was recorded in history
The miracles Jesus performed, to a believer, hold no questions or mysteries
Many struggle with the concept that Jesus was God in man form
However, he did this so he could guide us through our life storms
God knew there was no other way
To save man from their future judgment day
He saw that humans had limited power
To resist temptation and be their own strong tower
So he sent his son to die for me and you
So we could live in heaven someday too
The only thing you must do is receive
Accept Jesus in your heart and truly believe,
Something so simple has become so hard,
For many in this world are deeply scarred
They question his goodness and question if he cares
For life can be extremely unfair
he never said we wouldn’t suffer pain
that the hurricanes would not saturate us with torrential rains
However He did promise he would give us peace
That we would walk through troubles with his release
He promises to turn it all around for our good
He has been misrepresented and misunderstood
There is a purpose for all who trust in him
He assures us that if you are his child, you win!
Yet, so many put Jesus in a box
Pull him out like old Christmas socks
Once or twice a year
go to church, say a prayer and then disappear
forgetting that God has feelings too
And that he is desperately in love with you
Many believe the lie that he is mad
That they are to damaged and have been too bad
They overlook that his love has never changed
Humans walk away from him, Jesus always stays the same
Don’t underestimate his grace and power
That can transform you in your darkest hour
You don’t have to believe me
Ask him yourself and you will see
You never know until you try
Don’t be ignorant; he is not just a theory in the sky
He is everywhere, at anytime
It is your wellbeing that is on his mind
So during this holiday season
Don’t forget to celebrate the real reason
The birth of Christ
Is what gives each person a chance at a new life
He is no respecter of persons, and he is not counting your sins
He’s waiting for you with his hand stretched out
Begging you to let him in.

Why Is Christ Taken Out Of Christmas

Christmas is the only holiday we often don’t call by name. We often forget about the true reason that Christ came. It’s the only holiday that we often call “a holiday.” It’s true meaning, is often, taken away! It’s more than the tree and all of the glittering lights… It’s time to think about the Bethlehem star so bright! It’s more than going shopping at the malls… More than, “Jingle Bells,” or “Deck the Halls!” It’s more than seeing how many people we can buy for. Or that clearance sale, you’re willing “to die for!” It’s more than buying the “newest in entertainment.” Or receiving a gift that may “cause an embarrassment.” Beyond all of the presents and all we truly believe in. Let’s all come to Christ Jesus and receive him! Let’s think about his birth, and his death on the cross! Without HIM… The true meaning of Christmas is lost! He brings the hope, joy and cheer that’s needed! Won’t you listen to his voice? That often goes unheeded? Christ is what’s important! And shouldn’t be left out! He’s what matters! And is what Christmas is all about! Let’s be joyful! It was for all of us that he came! And take this time to bring honor and glory to his name! By Jim Pemberton

Upon this Christmas Day

He sleeps there in a stable
The babe born to the world
Both mother, father watch with care

Though swaddled in a cloth
He is born, yet, to be king
With but just rags for Him to wear

This special morning
The sun now shines bright
From stars there in the Heavens
To the rise of morning light
The world now is much brighter
As angels, too, now play
There’s hope and happiness to share
Upon this Christmas Day

For within the early morning
Angels brought the sky a voice
Calling forth those who wish to hear

Along then, came all others
Knowing truth within their hearts
That all now have nothing to fear

This special morning
The sun now shines bright
From stars there in the Heavens
To the rise of morning light
The world now is much brighter
As angels, too, now play
There’s hope and happiness to share
Upon this Christmas Day

Go forth and tell all others
Who had no chance to hear
The news of hope and of the joy

Let them know the Gift of God
That comes to save us all
His son sent as this little boy

This special morning
The sun now shines bright
From stars there in the Heavens
To the rise of morning light
The world now is much brighter
As angels, too, now play
There’s hope and happiness to share
Upon this Christmas Day

Tradition

Boy, all I can say is one word, tradition.
It’s a mind set ingrained in our thoughts, and in our nation.
Although Christmas and Easter aren’t mentioned in the Holy Bible.
God has His traditions also, they are His Holy Festivals yet we continue to ignore them and trash our spiritual revival.

Today as so called holidays are in full swing, as Christians we pray.
That our nation realizes that our moral compass has lost God’s path in every way.
Man he’s always made excuses not wanting to listen to God he’s stubborn.
The devil is predominant in most people’s lives yet, he fails to listen to the Father, and His laws are easy but stern.

God says put no other God before me.
It’s not this writer speaking its God’s loving spirituality.
The Holy Bible is very clear about this.
Believing that the “Word” is the Son of God, Christ Jesus.

Christmas, Easter, are pagan holidays and it angers the Lord of Lords.
Remember all truths are in the Holy Bible see what Jesus says, He’s “The Word.”
Yes love and cheer is predominant this time of year.
Yet, “The Word” and what God says is very clear.

So on this coming Christmas pray that you see what the Father tells “Us”.
The evil one is still at large corrupting men, corrupting “The Word” our Savior Jesus.
God says in the Holy Bible let the Bible interpret God’s “Word” and to observe His Festivals.
Not those traditions set before man by the Evil Deceiver not just to love at yearly intervals.

The Holy Bible tells “Us” specifically that Jesus wasn’t born on this day.
Going back to the traditions of Babylon, see what the Bible says about this what we do and how we pray.
Just by not being in the Holy Bible these days should make “Us” truly see.
That God is God, His will be done, and by doing His laws and edicts wrong not observing His true Festivals corrupts our soul spiritually.

A Christmas message

A Christmas carol so joyful and sweet,
heavenly voices such a festive treat.

The birth of a very special baby boy
named Emmanuel. The light of the
world, the word made flesh. True love
upon the earth.

A heavenly message our saviour is here,
who shall lead us back to our Father.
Forgiveness is here blot out our trespasses.

White as snow

A winter time kiss amidst swirling
snow fall, pure delight wrapped in
a festive mist.

A tender fragment in time, a glimpse
of a future sublime.

Warm lips locking, we cease talking.
For in this sweet moment our worries
are forgotten.

We now see with fresh eyes, washed
white as the fallen snow. Into the blizzard
of life with faces aglow.

We have a purpose and endeavour in faith
hope and LOVE!

My Christmas Wish For My Souper Friends

Each year I write a Christmas poem
For my closest friends to read
I try to make the message plain
And one I pray they'll heed

How Christ was born the world to save
But first, He had to die
Be buried in a borrowed grave
All for you and I

The third day after His death
He arose in victory
His triumph over death and hell
Was done, my friends, for thee

The message heard on Christmas
Is a message of joy and cheer
Its meaning is there in simple truth
It's one I pray you'll hear

If He is not your personal Lord
I'll tell you He can be
If you respond to His Holy Word
And on your bended knee

Ask Him to come and take control
And guide you from now on
He'll change your life and make you whole
And heaven will be your home

So think about my Christmas wish
For all my Souper friends
You'll experience such spiritual bliss
A bliss that never ends

Written especially for all on Soup who read these simple words, I pray they have a different meaning for you all than ever before. In Jesus' Name, I wish you all a MERRY CHRISTMAS

Blessings Of The Lord

Day by day we perceive the blesssings of the Lord,
The snowy day that reminds us about the blessings of warmth and friendship,
Friendship that is distant and always remembered,
Miracles that are difficult to define,
A church and portals that you used to visit,
Structures beautiful, unique and powerful,
Hymns sung and bible verses read,
Choirs where the bells ring and the songs are sung,
Ministers preaching the wisdom of God,
Relatives forever loved and protected by the Lord,
Blessed reunions and visits redefined,
Talents shared and appreciated,
The Lord's poet blessed by God's friendship,
Athletic strength as a senior guided by God,
Royalty sacred and divine, a blessing to mankind.

THE CHRISTMAS TREE

Beneath my bark is a whisper stilled in silence,
Scrolled within my rings of age, is a wish waiting
To be answered.
A timeless spark, infused engrain's of wooden pulp,
Legacies promise sense before my birth’s germination,
My special reason for existence.
Warmed by the sun’s rays, cradled by Mother Nature’s
Loving embrace, I’ve grown in the shadows of my elders,
My brethren of the forest wilds.
Tenderly a sprout grew forth, within me a secret kept
Unto myself alone, happily watching the world passes
Ideally by, as seasons changed from spring, to summer,
Yielding unto fall, then covered beneath
Blankets of chilling white.
I fear not the slicing of the human ax, or mourn
For having to leave thy native soil rich and warm,
For my life’s secret is coming true you see,
Mine inner Gift is to be a Christmas tree.
Blazing chains of sparkling lights shall grace
My branches of evergreen, as trims silvery tinsel
Hangs from my strong timbered limbs, that
Shine in the glowing warmth of this magical
Holiday called Christmas.
Crowning from above, admiration's highest branch
Lies a sacred symbol of ages eon’s long ago passed
A brilliant star of opulence, twinkling in the twilight’s
After glow of this special season.
Its eternal light weaves its mystical rays through my
Thick branches of pine, casting a shining upon the
Manjor hidden underneath, behold the greatest gift
Ever given, a simple child of the everlasting spirit.
Beneath my bark is a whisper stilled in silence,
Scrolled within my rings of age, is a wish waiting
To be answered.
A timeless spark, infused engrain's of wooden pulp,
Legacies promise sense before my birth’s germination,
My special reason for existence.

The True Meaning of Christmas

The True Meaning of Christmas! During this Christmas, let’s celebrate Christ’ birth.

Christmas Tears In Heaven

Does Jesus cry in heaven because of what folks do
With parties held on Christmas with lots of Christmas brew?
Does Jesus cry on Christmas because the churches close,
They think that few will come there; some other place they chose?
Do angels cry there with Him because of few who sing
The songs with awe and wonder without loud drums and strings?
Do all the saints cry also because this sacred day
Is missing on the calendar in oh, so many ways?
No Christmas tears in heaven? I wonder how could be
When Calvary’s tree’s forgotten, replaced by Christmas trees?
No room that night back yonder, no room for Him today--
It should bring sadness to us, but too many are astray.
They say that up in heaven no one’s supposed to cry,
But as I think about this, I have to wonder why.
Are there no tears in heaven because down here below
Folks desecrate our Savior with places that they go
On Christmas Day especially, when angels up above
Once sang a precious story about His wondrous love?
The Christmas tears in heaven may be shed after all
Because too many people no longer hear the call.
Too many think that Christmas is all of old Saint Nick,
The presents and the parties and reindeer paws that click.
It must not be Christ’s birthday; He gets few gifts that day,
But oh, the money spent then for another’s gift display!
We’re promised in the Bible that God will dry our tears,
But I wonder if in heaven that tears may still be here?
I hope that they aren’t crying because of what I do
On Christmas Day for Jesus or others all year through.
May Christmas tears in heaven be never shed for me;
I want to honor JESUS more than the gifts I see!
I want to make Him special, first in all I do and say,
So Christmas tears in heaven aren’t shed for me today!

The child with a name

It’s fortunate to say
A mother named Mary became
And gave us a child with a name
And all on the earth
Were all to be treated the same
He stood as a stone
But was broken and torn
Just all the same

And some want to forget
And not to relive
Anymore of his pain
And not any of the blame
Who ask how is it before
You ever were born
You were already giving a name

They cannot believe
In anyway conceive
That any love you can give
Comes just from a name
Why stay in the dark?
You know just who you are
When in the beginning
The way was lit
For you all, by a star

Not to believe that love
And the promise of it
Comes just from a name
But still the message is true
That is for all of you
Treat everyone the same

To believe we should not
Will always be why
Many of our children, still cry
And to live and let live
Be happy to give
You won’t even try

It is fortunate to say
Mother named Mary became
And is here to remind us
As we all lose our aim
But to remember this day
A woman named Mary became
The one who gave us
The child with a name

Christmas Without Magic

Christmas without any magic,
Would be the darkest of days,
There wouldn’t be any presents,
Without the wonder of Santa’s ways,
The lights in the eyes of the children,
Would become as dull as the light-less tree,
Now standing outside in the garden,
And not in the house as should be,
There would be no cards on the mantle,
No messages from family and friends,
No reason to think of our loved ones,
Or for our faults make amends.

And without the greatest miracle,
Of our own dear Saviours birth,
There would be no hope for all mankind,
No peace for men on Earth,
No non-deserved forgiveness,
For the many times we fail,
And no happily ever after,
At the end of our life’s long tale.

For Jeramiah Jay Cook

Late at night, my eyes are burning
as I try not to cry.
I hold my breath and wonder
why you had to die.

I try so hard to fight the tears
as I lay around and dream.
Memories of younger years...
I choke instead of scream.

You battled many problems
and overcame many things...
and you were only a child,
No, an angel without wings.

You never had the most attention,
but you never seemed to complain.
But suddenly everyone’s in tears,
just whispering your name.

You won't get to live the life
you very much deserved.
No job, no kids, just shattered dreams
because you've left this earth.

You were only sixteen.
Its not right that you're gone.
Your heart quit beating,
but didn't quit loving.
Your spirit will live on.

My heavy heart is filled with regret.
I didn't say I love you, or goodbye.
And with memories I'll never forget,
you taught me how to fly.

Sometimes I wish I could turn back time,
if only for a day.
After all, God answers prayers,
but this one is thrown away.

My vision is blurred with tears,
I miss you so bad.
But I close my eyes and see you clear
and don't feel quite as sad.

Pretty soon I'll be grown up
but you'll still be sixteen.
but like you said,
God has a plan,
and in the end I'll see.

*Note*
Jeramiah Jay Cook, my cousin, "buba" and friend passed away Christmas of 2004 at a party.
Rumors fly about what it really was. Alcohol, pills.. it had only been 2 months since his own
mothers death (mine had died in 96') and so he got his Christmas wish.. to spend it with his
Mom. He has been having a really hard time with with substance abuse, but it was far from
what I expected when my Aunt called Christmas morning.. Someone I had always looked up
to, and grown up with.

Happy Holidays Or Merry Christmas

What if Christmas wasn't here? What if Christmas disappeared? Whenever December came... It just wouldn’t be the same! What if the baby Jesus was never born in a manger? The true meaning of Christmas would be in danger! If this happened... There would be no nativity. We wouldn’t have Christ' peace and tranquility! It’s almost like this now! It’s an “ever increasing business.” It seems like nearly everyone wants “Christ out of Christmas!” Why does it seem like Christmas is losing it’s true meaning? The very words; “Merry Christmas,” seem to be quickly disappearing! Many say; “Happy Holiday.” For fear they may “offend.” Having a “holiday” without Christ…. What Is Christmas About

What is Christmas all about? Santa and his elves?
Gifts we give to someone else? Gifts we get ourselves?
Decorations on a tree? Hoping snow will fall?
Trips to see a family? That’s not it at all.
Christmas is about a time God looked down on man,
Saw him in a sinful state, and devised a plan.
Christmas is about a place here upon this earth
Where God sent His precious Son through a virgin birth.
Christmas is about a man and his wife-to-be
Sitting in a stable small, now a family.
Christmas is about a Babe born that quiet night
With an angel choir above looking at the sight.
Christmas is about some men there upon a hill
Hearing angel choirs that night when it had been still.
Christmas is about these words whispered near the inn:
“His name will be Jesus Christ, He’ll save us from our sin.”
Christmas is about the plan for this child who came:
Dying on a rugged cross in agony and shame.
Dying so all men could be by God justified
When they trusted in His Son who there hung and died.
Christmas is about God’s Son, not about the elves,
Not about the gifts we give or that we get ourselves.
Christmas is about a life we can live again,
Washed much whiter than the snow from our every sin.
Christmas is about a tree where His blood was given
To make us His family and a home in heaven.
What is Christmas all about? Oh, I hope you know
That it is about God’s love that to us He shows.
When you come to Him by faith, you will sing and shout,
For you’ll really know right then what Christmas is about.

Silver Strands

Silver strands of tinsel,
Shimmer on the Christmas tree,
Reflecting colors from the lights,
A delightful sight to see.

As tinsel reflects the Christmas lights,
So we are to reflect Christ's love,
And shine our light for all to see,
To the glory of God above.

So like silver strands of tinsel,
Reflecting Christmas-colored lights,
May we reflect the love of Jesus,
And bring Him great delight.

Christmas Jubilee

Christmas was always about God for me,
It was memories, inner fullness…Begotten-Boy.
Because God was the point, God’s Son died bravely.

Christmas was about giving pure heart’s bouquet.
Finding dreams, wishes, and bringing home joy,
Christmas was always about God for me.

Father’s gift held the secret of wisdom set free
Of hoping and caring and loving enjoyed.
It is about God, Calvary, and forgiveness, you see.

When December wonder is past, does Christ flee?
Flee from the soul, leaving one on self to rely, lost envoy -
Truth. Christmas was always about God for me.

Once a year Christmas marks God’s gift sent for me.
By faithfully gluing my lost self to Jesus, I found joy.
Because God sacrificed His Son, I am set free.

I know that in heaven there was great jubilee.
When this hollowed out husk of me, by sin destroyed
Found Christmas to be about God and me.
I know it is so; my faith sets me free.

Where Is Christ In Christmas

I heard the bells on Christmas day
But there were no choirs singing
Alas the music that I heard
Were the sounds of registers ringing
The Wise men came to honor the babe
Whose birth had been foretold
But now we line up at four A.M.
To snatch TV’s before they’re sold!

When I was young there was a creche`
In the middle of the square
Now it is forbidden
Only Santa now is there
We can’t say “Merry Christmas”
It’s not politically correct
Only “Happy Holidays”
This I can’t accept!

How lonely Christ must feel
To be forgotten in this way
The Mall is not a chapel
Where we should kneel and pray
Remember, Jesus is the reason
We should celebrate this day
O come all ye faithful
On this holy Christmas morn
Let our voices ring out loud and clear
Alleluia, Alleluia, Jesus Christ is born

Christmas

	Why do we celebrate?
We forget the real reason,
The reason we come together
This Christmas Season.
	We celebrate
The day of Your birth,
We call it Christmas
Here on Earth.

The Christmas Message

THE CHRISTMAS MESSAGE
Dr. James E. Martin
©November, 2012

Christmas is once again drawing near,
That season of joy and holiday cheer.
Those favorite carols are now being heard,
There’s now within most a festive word.

As we hit the stores and roam the malls,
Are we joyous as should be with all that befalls?
Is our focus and demeanor as it should be?
Do others in us, “Christmas” see?

Has the reason for the season into obscurity passed?
On our list of importance, is it now listed last?
There’s growing sentiment now in this world
For everything Christian into oblivion to be hurled.

Dare we “Merry Christmas” continue to shout?
Do we remind others what Christmas is about?
As we enter into this most wonderful time of year
Let others continue the real message to hear.

In remembering a birth there’s nothing amiss,
Since this is one that none should dismiss.
The Savior, the only begotten of god
Into this world of depravity has trod.

Born that man could from sin be free,
Is a message much larger than the Christmas tree.
Freely He came – His blood He shed
That man might be freed from the eternally dead.

The message is simple, yet amazingly profound.
From the lips of all this message should sound.
Christmas is more than presents under the tree,
Will Christmas in each, others really see?

Christmas by the Sea

CHRISTMAS BY THE SEA

I've spent Christmas in the mountains
And in the city with flowing fountains
But the best Christmas by far for me
Was when I spent Christmas by the sea

I looked at the water of azure blue
And felt serenity through and through
The whisper of the waves upon the shore
Sent thoughts of joy to every pore

I remembered the times of Christmas past
The memories that will always last
When we would rise on Christmas morn
And read of the day when Christ was born

The child who in a manger lay
The Christ Child born to show the way
To salvation free for you and me
These things I ponder here by the sea

I raise my hands to God above
I thank Him for his boundless love
A love so great, He sent His Son
We'll live with Him when life is done

So if you have an opportunity
To spend a Christmas by the sea
Listen to the sound of the ceaseless waves
And think of the Christ Child who came to save

Gaze at the beauty of the ocean blue
And feel the love He had for you
If you do, perhaps you'll see
Why I love Christmas by the sea

New July Holiday

Warmth that flows within the seasons cheer,
To have peace on earth proclaimed again,
A giving time for all women and men,
To be able to see the children faces clear.

Smelling the pine that frames Christmas time,
Gloriously celebrating his birth so sincere,
Christmas in July comes but once a year.
Guiding happiness in this season’s prime.

Serving picnic cuisine with prayers enriched.
Family time together bringing love to all,
Dreaming of Christmas in July breaks a wall.
Bringing memories of an episode of Bewitched.

The Christmas Chills

Shopping! Shopping!
Christmas shopping!
I have had enough,
It's stressing me out;
I gather all the gift lists
And toss them into the fire.
I pull the plug on
all the Christmas decor
And bang shut
the door and the windows
against a howling, frosty
and starless night,
And a melee of kith and kin;
I shut off the Christmas music
And plunge my home
in total darkness and silence.

I drop down on my knees -
Depressed, sorrowful and forlorn -
I fold my hands; bow my head
and cry silently, trying to
lighten the turmoil within,
To mend the lilt of true spirit
that time has set awry.

Way past midnight
I light a solitary candle
And venture to gather
some warmth from its
gentle and heartening glow!

Memories Of Christmas

Memories of Christmas through the years,
Have brought lots of laughter and many tears.
Memories of those who have gone on home,
Sometimes leave us sad and alone.
The good times that were had by all,
Grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, their happy faces I recall!
The gifts that were given, the fellowship we shared,
The love we all had, showed each other we cared.
The trees were so pretty, the food, oh so good,
Sometimes we would go caroling in the neighborhood.
We would exchange gifts by drawing names,
Some would get clothes, others might get games.
The homes would be decorated with ornaments and lights,
And we would all feast on the many delights!
There would be cakes, cookies, sandwiches, pies, and punch,
Some might eat a lot, others would just munch.
Before you knew it the night would be gone,
And the wait for next year would seem so very long!
But Christmas means more than just these things,
As we remember the birth of the Christ child and the salvation He brings!
He came into this world in a meek and lowly way,
Born of a virgin and in a manger lay.
The Shephards were frightened as the angels came to say,
The great news of His birth on this special day!
Born in Bethlehem, God's only son,
Savior from our sins, He is the only one!
So as I remember the Christmas's of old,
The greatest of all, was the one the prophets foretold!

Still Listening

Preface: Written for my wife our 1st Christmas without Ryan.

Still Listening

Ryan heard me whisper,
Merry Christmas to his mother.
He hears Rob and Ronnie laughing,
at funny stories of their brother.
He hears the prayers,
he hears the praise,
family and friends have given.
Ryan still hears everything,
while he waits for us in heaven.

The screams of fans in hockey rinks,
every time he scored a goal.
His fingers tap-tapping on the lid
of a brand new can of skoal.
The cymbals of his drumset,
Santa brought when he was seven.
Ryan can hear everything,
while he waits for us in heaven.

He heard our wails of anguish,
the warm night of August seven,
Ryan has heard everything,
patiently preparing for us in heaven.

So sit back, my love,
and watch the boys unwrap,
as the Christmas tree's still glistening.
Close your eyes and whisper,
"Merry Christmas, Ryan",
because I'm certain he's still listening.

Does the Message of Christmas Offend You

Does the Message of Christmas Offend You?

I know of many who got somewhat “defensive.”
It has to do with something, they find “offensive.”

This seems to be the direction this country’s going.
People getting offended… And it’s showing!

The very appearance of a cross is “offensive.” It seems!
Many get offended by what the Christmas message brings!

Some try to get Christian symbols taken away.
It makes one wonder about this Christmas day.

The words “happy holiday” seem to take it’s place!
Just look at the expressions on a person’s face!

The nativity scene seems to be a thing of the past.
As people try to “rush” through
 this holiday fast!

If the true meaning of Christmas seems to offend you!
Simply look at the works of God,
 that surround you!

It was HIS love that sent the baby Jesus, down to earth.
So that one day, through him,
we can have a NEW birth!

A new life in Christ, is HIS message and meaning!
The greatest gift of all…
You can be receiving!

Won’t you take some time, from all of life’s stress?
And allow Jesus inside, so you can be blessed?

Let all come to Christ! Both near and a far!
He still shines today! Like the Christmas star!

The Christmas Gift

My friend had a Christmas gift
He wanted to give me;
He shushed it was a secret
And I couldn't see.

It's awful not knowing
What a present is:
It's like getting stuck
In a cryptogrammic quiz.

He laughed
When I begged for a hint,
With an evil snicker
At my hapless predicament.

But as I steamed,
I looked about:
A light snow was falling,
And it was so very peaceful out.

The year had its struggles,
We nearly lost the place,
But that sudden promotion
Put me at a more amiable pace.

Janell gave me an awful scare
When she found a lump on her breast;
We prayed pretty hard,
But she aced every test.

Sadie and Jeff
Gave a grandchild last spring:
The sweetest, dark-haired girl
That life could bring.

I felt a little misty
As I stood there,
But he hadn't told me about the gift
And it just wasn't fair!

I thought of the fancy paper,
And I saw my grandbaby stand;
I thought of the lacy ribbon,
And I felt my wife's hand.

Something was happening to me,
I couldn't tell,
But it dawned
As clear as a bell.

There were gifts
That I had gotten,
Not in boxes and paper,
How could I have forgotten?

Saving our home
Was a gift, indeed,
And my wife's health,
What more did I need?

The grandbaby, in my arms,
Made me feel alive;
You know, I heard angels
Right there in the drive.

I wanted a gift,
But what gifts I'd received;
"Merry Christmas," my friend grinned,
"Now do you believe?"

IF CHRISTMAS DIDN'T EXIST

Imagine how sad December would seem
if Christmas didn't exist; only the chill
and wind would be felt through the frozen bones,
nobody would live in these northern, frigid zones.

What was the true purpose of Jesus's birth?
Some even would say that it never occurred,
and why would the Magi travel long days
and nights to pay homage to the humblest of Kings?

It was prophesied by Isaiah in the Old testament and the Wise Men believed him,
following with awe the biggest and brightest star that they had ever seen;
and didn't it seem strange that God would choose those simple shepherds
to be the first to hear that message sung by a thousands of angels?

Wouldn't you be happy when a child cries out and enters life?
Wouldn't you celebrate that event with overwhelming joy and grace?
The same way Jesus entered this world to suffer and die,
and if Christmas didn't exist, who would remember who He was?

Wouldn't that envious angel, whom God expelled from Heaven with haste,
laugh loudly, knowing that we don't worship Him in spirit and faith?
Fallen Angels are the eternal enemies of this Child, who atoned our sins
by paying with His precious blood...to vindicate the Devil's astute lies!

If Christmas didn't exist, some unbelievers would shout and rejoice,
happy to erase Christ's redemptive message from the earth's surface...
contradicting the Scriptures themselves and the Divinity behind it!
Didn't Herod the Great hate Jesus, fearing He would have become the new King?

Christmas - A Time to reflect

It's a wonderful time for reflection, have we done what we wanted to do?
You know all the resolutions we made, did we make them all come true?
Did we spend more time with family? Did our kids take pride of place?
Did we love our partners a little more, did we put a smile on our face?
Did our friends know their true worth? Did we let them know we care?
Did we say to them without the words, you know I'm always there?
Yes, it's Christmas time again and with the champagne and the beer
Surrounded by the ones we love we can reflect upon the year
We can laugh and we can capture all the memories we want to store
And we can be thankful for family and friends that we have another year to make more
So during this Christmas break, we thank you for being there.
And we hope and wish in 2010 there will be more fun times to share.

It's Christmas Time

It's Christmas time again
Santa's reindeer ride again
Time for folks to shine again
In colors of red and green.

It's Christmas time again
Little kids with hopeful smiles
Sit on Santa's lap awhile
And wish for toys only dreamed of
In their midnight slumber.

I have to stop and think sometimes
If we had Christmas all the time
Would we always be this happy
Or would it start to fade.

Would the lights still shine as bright
Would Santa still seem so right
Would we even take the time to
Contemplate a virgin birth.

So let's keep Christmas in December
So we'll always remember
The birth of our Savior
So gentle, mild and tender.

The Dark Days of Christmas

2011 and Christmas isn't the same,
The silence and make belief joy
sends auspicious feelings far and nigh,
Revellers go through the emotions
just to avoid falling apart,
As news mongers spread doom and gloom,
Heralding the closing of schools,

The holidays have been reduced
to fear, angst and downsizing,
The dark days of Christmas has
everyone surmizing,

Spreading good wishes and cheer
may warm hearts everywhere,
The sentiments can bring hope,
to individuals who are unable
to cope,

Positive words and feelings
last beyond Christmas Day,
They can give hope and faith
all throughout the year.

The Birth

Our Savior was born
in a manger Christmas day
son of Mary and Joseph
child of Bethlehem
under the star of David
that led three wise men to him

Bringing with them gifts
from one was the gift of gold
second gift was of incense
third gift was of myrrh
shepherds came in from the field
to worship the new born king

Almost Christmas day
let us celebrate our king
let us remember his life
remember his words
remember his sacrifice
let us bow our heads and pray

Our Lord Jesus Christ
we love you with all our hearts
we celebrate in your birth
we praise your Glory
we worship you Lord Jesus
in us you live forever

                  Amen

The Greatest Christmas Present

The greatest Christmas present came down from far away,
Was laid there in a manger upon a bed of hay.
Not wrapped with fancy ribbons, in paper or in bows,
But with some strips of linen that they call swaddling clothes.
There weren’t a lot of people to see it on that night,
And it wasn’t that unusual, but such a simple sight.
You see, it was a baby, born there in Bethlehem,
With nowhere else to lay it—the blessed Son of Men.
The parents were not wealthy, just plain in every way,
But oh, the child that lay there upon that bed of hay!
This child had come from heaven through special virgin birth,
Had come to save His people here in this sinful earth.
Some shepherds heard the message from angels in the sky
Who sang in a great chorus of this child from on high.
If you could just imagine the home this child had lived
Before He left His Father, this present now to give,
You’d wonder why He did it, why such a sacrifice,
To come to save lost sinners, on Calvary give His life,
Would you say as I now do it: “This is a present great,
I think I will now open this present and not wait”?
For look beyond that manger; a tree there now you’ll see,
Not decorated fancy, but placed on Calvary,
Its branches hold His arms there, its frame is soaked with red;
The blood flowed from His body as there He hung and bled.
Yes, the greatest Christmas present was God’s eternal love
Wrapped in this precious body that came down from above.
He took the wrath and anguish that we deserve today,
The hell we should have gone to to suffer there for aye.
And all because He loved us! My, what a present there!
The GREATEST Christmas present with you I gladly share.
Will you come now receiving this gift so great and free
That God sent down that morning from heaven for you and me?
Will you trust His forgiveness from all your sin and shame?
Oh, open now this present! And call upon His name!

Christmas Is

A time for dreams, for presents and cheer
Or perhaps to reflect on the passing year
A time for each to give and share
With the ones we love, to show we care

The Christmas message is spread around
But tis sometimes lost in lights and sound
When that little boy was manger born
With no great fanfare or trumpeting horn

A boy so destined to bring great hope, belief
And to a troubled world some faint relief
But the message he spread as he grew older
Is lost in hype as our hearts grow colder

But it's time again to hear what he had to say
Because we need some hope in this modern day
A message of freedom, of life and love
A belief in eternity with God above

As you open your gifts and Christmas presents
Think of just what this day represents
Love, life, time with family and friends
He gave his life on a cross to see it never ends

So remember this during your time together
A life with Him goes on forever
And as you celebrate His birth with great cheer
Recall He is watching over you, all through the year.

Each Christmas Is Different

Each Christmas is different as we gather in throngs
To open up presents and sing special songs.
New ones were added to some families,
Others departed o’er death’s chilly seas.
Some have had surgery, and some now are ill,
And some have surrendered to God’s holy will.
Some have had trials of some other kind,
And others are happy and peaceful in mind.
Some found salvation, receiving the Lord,
Others been blessed with some great reward.
Each Christmas is different for everyone,
But time to remember before day is done
That something in Christmas can never be changed
No matter the effort made to rearrange:
It’s the story we read from the Bible each year,
The angels appearing on that midnight clear,
The promised Messiah was born on this day
To take all the sins of all mankind away.
That Christmas was different that night long ago
It was so wondrous, so special, I know.
Each Christmas is different, thanks to that night,
For Jesus had come to conquer sin’s plight!
Each Christmas is different to the one born again
Since God has forever forgotten his sin!
Now there is a Christmas different and unique,
For some day the archangel’s trumpet will speak,
And some day in heaven we may hear once more
The song of those angels that night of the Lord.
Then Christmas forever! Oh, what a great day
To see the Lord Jesus, once laid in the hay
Now glorified with us, and give Him our crowns
And sing His great praises, all burdens laid down!
Each Christmas is different, but the story’s the same:
Salvation, forgiveness, through Christ’s holy name!

The Perfect Gift

Nine months is not very long...although
it seems forever, since you've been gone.

I still remember that knock at the door, two
strangers, I recognized, by the uniforms they wore.

Disbelief in the words, I heard them say...killed in
action, on Christmas Day.

When you left me, for a land far away...I ask Jesus
to keep you safe.

I have been so alone, with just my memories of you,
but today your Christmas Present arrived, and he is
so cute.

He came into this world, giving me back my life,
someone I can hold , all through the night.

Merry Christmas, my sweet soldier...the words
I never got to say, you gave me a gift so perfect,
in every way.

Even though you are not here, to hold your son,
I promise, he will always know his father, and the
good you have done.

We will decorate our tree in Red- White- and Blue...
"This year, and always, in remembrance of you."

Merry Christmas from us both, your wife, and baby son,
we will all be together one day....when our work is done.

"Please, pray for our soldiers."

With grace and contrite heart
With our opened yieldedness
With our love and affection
With arrayed wildness

Great Love

How can Jesus love me so
A love with no end
Deeply rooted and grounded
Never bending with the wind.

Greater love has never been
Than the love Jesus shows
Love forgiving you and me
And great meekness He bestows.

Love extended to each and all
Whether strong or very weak
Even great, or even small
His love, you can always seek.

Jesus love will never fail
It is patient and very kind
Enduring and long suffering
and abideth all the time.

The First Gift

Christmas is a time for giving. Christmas should be a whole lot more. A time for loving, time for living A time the Christ Child to adore, To shout His name from shore to shore. God sent his Child, his own dear Son, And angels sang, the tale to tell. First Christmas gift for everyone Ring loud, ring long, the Christmas bell. The Christ has come on Earth to dwell. His birth, though happening long ago In humble manger lined with hay, Still puts a very happy glow In human hearts on Christmas Day. God sent him forth our sins to pay.

CHRISTMAS ON CHAMPS ELYSEES Monsieur L'Vampyre

........CHRISTMAS ON CHAMPS ELYSEES
This night of mass, I still recall
the thing we had--dare I suggest,
if it was love, how we did fall?
For just a while, our lives were blessed
........Now Christmas on Champs Elysees
.........is not the same, in any way.

The lights reflecting on the Seine
have lost a little of their glow
I still walk there, but only when
there's no one with me I should know;
........and never since have I gone to
.........that small cafe, where I met you.

'twould be too much for me to bear
I'd have to face reality
accepting you would not be there
and put to rest your memory
......but now each Christmas I can feel
......the warmth of you, it's almost real.

And so this night, so warm and mild
I'll not forget the love of you
but celebrate the Jesus child
the way we used to do.
......and light a Candle Christmas Eve
.......though you have died, I still believe.

Christmas

It is there when all is silent and quiet.
With sugar plums and misled toes dancing in thoughts.
Most time you can see the snow fall as kids play about.
As it is winter time and Christmas is hear again.
And it’s peace and giving again.

But do we always give thanks?
Or is it just during certain times of the year.
But do we truly remember the day!
The day when Christ our Savoir was born.
It was that of a Christmas day.

When Mary gave birth and gifts come from far and beyond.
For this day, there was a new King that had been born.
That all gave glory before Christmas was destroyed.
For there in his heart he gave Jesus unto us to rein.
That in the days at hand, we would know the true love.
And in our hearts he would rein.

It was there somewhere far beyond.
That Christmas is known as king of the year.
For it is there to which a new year rings in.
For there I say Merry Christmas and God Bless my friend.

Hope you think of the real meaning of Christmas this year..
To always be thankful through out the year.
For each day is a blessing just to breathe.
But each day was about giving and caring about the one of no name.
That in your heart, you find a love of that Christmas day.

As you find the spirit of kindness everyday.
May you share a joy of it to the passer by...?
That the spirit of Christmas lives and never dies.
That each day will be in Christ our King.
And In your heart, he will always rein
And that is a true Christmas Day!

Christmas Under the Sky

I watch the teary, misty rain
as the torrents of wind
move against the grey blackness
Stroking my pet cat
with her indistinct, blurry
message that's always tuned into
the joyful, sounding music of the universe

My heart yearning for a better love life
I think about the loves gone by
Memories of all I loved coming back to me
The undying love for my mother
sick and frightened
I exchange the calming, nurturing lilies
in her garden

Golden rhythms bring me peace within
the softness of the morning hours brings
an intense love and spirit of the giving season
hopefully more of kindness and unconditional
love than of material burdens and manipulations
I feel happiness suddenly - seeing the
blues in the greys that turn angelic white
understanding the message of life

Soothing and unexpected excitements
dreams of success in all the
fragments of being bringing together
the whole, inspired miracle
the magic and enchantment
Letting go of the stress
and going with the flowing light and love
bringing peace to calamity
of my soul and restoring it to
everything beautiful

Why Do We Take Christ Out of Christmas

Why Do We Take Christ Out of Christmas?

The Greatest Gift

Away in a manger no crib for his bed
Christmas is the greatest story I’ve read

A God for a father it was a virgin that gave birth
To the greatest blessing that ever walked this earth

People from all nations every race and creed
Reflect for a moment on what others may need

Before I start on the presents or share in the glee
God I humbly thank you for sending your son unto me

I do wish you all a Merry Christmas and I ask you all to pray
Remember the shelters when the giving spirit comes your way

Even the most adamant nonbelievers whether they admit it not
Knows Christmas is the most blessed day that every year has got

I wrote this poem for Brian's Advent
Poetry contest. The Homeless shelters
are always in need of donations this
time of year, Please consider helping
them if you can. God Bless, MJ

The Donkey Carol

(Chorus): My name is breda Donkey
'Pon my back is de Christmas story
A carry God's son an' mercy
Down through the ages to wi glory
De baby born in Bethlehem's manger
               Wi creator, redeemer, how stranger

Ole Balaam let mi carry him
Fi guh sell the Massa prophecy
An angel did appear to him
An' bring me square in history
               Ole Balaam saw a star
               Coming out of Jacob family
               Jesus coming from beyond afar
               To bring all sinners mercy

So one night breda Joseph call mi
Him seh O donkey come carry Mary
I know it was Balaam's prophecy
For Bethlehem's star was bright above me
No room, no room for the baby
Not a preacher in the earth was ready
So mi call 'pon mi animal family
Jesus cum guh mek yuh manger ready

The street was full of trafficking
While merchants count their money
Wi sang glory to man's joy born king
Jesus is the manger baby
Hush Mr. cow nuh bawl again
              Red Heifer yuh sacrifice over
Likkle lambs guh skip 'pon de plain
              Bethlehem bring forth the redeemer

Sweet likkle turtle dove you are free
The covenant of the ark is broken
Sweet Jesus bring love and jubilee
Same de greedy ole Balaam had spoken
But mi is donkey an mi work nuh done

Mi labor till de second coming of the son
Sin is mi burden, but a him it cost

This song is written to the tune of Jamaican folk song: "Good evening, Mrs Cunningham
It is written for two voices that blend to sing the chorus, but sing each stanza in 2 parts. It
tells the story of Christmas from a donkey's point view, and yet stay true to the Bible
discourse.

Some words are peculiar to the Jamaican dialect for coloring of the song:
Breda: brother; 'pon:upon; de:the; wi:our; ole:old; mi:me; fi:to; guh:go
Cum:come ... had all words recapitulate to the Jamaican dialect even young Jamaicans would
have been alienated --- for the language was not encouraged in our homes where it was
considered bad talking. It is being revived through academics at the UWI again.

IF YOU DO NOT HUMAN

From “Daily Given and Other Poems”

Come forth, dear friend
Squeeze my hand and kiss my face
Even under the shadows of a pencil away
But you should not forget
You and I are human in our right moment to die

Not day I hope
Not in this particular month and not the next month either I should say
Alas! This is my bridge and I’ll wait for you to cross it together
Bring your body to me: Embracing and laughing and capping
What I left for you, and much more.
We should live one, two, or three hundred years
It can be for anyone who would like to sing which it allows you and me to understand.

Speak up like cuckoo’s soul or pulling in front of you the intimate uncertainty
Because you would see eventually we are going to find
That trail that today appears confuse.
No matter what day will make an end
No matter what hour rendering may seem thrust that for others
Sometimes like this, in exact order, find blindness or butterflies.

If you fall believe it or not
I would make for you and the others as a soldier
Pinching wet ground and crushing the living creatures out of my way
But I would carry you and with a best-known smile I would indeed reach
The other end that appears identical from the beginning.

Now I wish you Merry Christmas from this humbly and lonely man
The undone four-letters with which my mind usually I skip
Which by voice-over in a period of utmost solicitude
I should deliver it to you.

A Tale Oft Retold

The glorious Christmas music Rings out o’er all the earth Proclaiming and exulting in The precious Savior’s birth. Each year our pastor takes a rest And lets the children tell The story of the Baby’s birth. Small voices tell it well. The little children in their robes Sing of the Heavenly King As did the angels long ago The happy tidings bring My flagging Christmas spirit Has been refreshed today, By the singing of the children in Their little Christmas play.

A Flight To Remember

Santa hitched his reindeer to fly out one night,
As he crossed the heavens, he saw a bright light.
It was almost blinding, yet it did appear
And a voice of angels Santa then did hear.
He looked down below him on a field to see
Just some humble shepherds hearing this with glee.
So he thought he’d follow where they planned to go,
Not really quite knowing why they hastened so.
There within a stable they began to walk
Santa heard their voices as they began to talk.
“We saw this bright angel, we heard choirs sing
Of a newborn Savior, of a newborn king.
We have come to see Him; they gave us a sign
Swaddling clothes He’s wrapped in, in a manger find.”
Mary then and Joseph took them to the place;
Shepherds bowed and worshipped at His holy face.
Santa curiously watched it, then he wandered in
To see who was born there to save men from sin.
He bowed at the manger as He saw God’s Son,
Worshipped and adored Him; his new life was begun.
As he left the stable, he soon realized
His flight through the night time, through the starlit skies
Now was with a message—not about HIS sleigh,
Not about HIS reindeer, or presents on the way.
It was of a Savior born that quiet night,
Bringing us redemption from sin’s awful plight.
Yes, that flight changed old Santa on that Christmas Day—
A flight to remember when he bowed there in the hay.

This poem inspired from the picture of Santa bowing at the manger of Jesus.

Christmas Traditions

Christmas Traditions
     By Dane Smith-Johnsen

It was the Day after Thanksgiving and every store in town.
Had planned to opened wide its doors before daylight could be found.
It was an outlandish sight to see people sleep overnight.
Shoppers camping on sidewalks people waiting in the moonlight.

The Christmas shopping season was formally set in motion!
Hustling, bustling, getting, and grabbing: bikes, pipes, and lotion.
TVs, wreaths, computers, briefs, trees, ties, anything money buys.
Some starry-eyed children sway singing with Santa beneath skies.

Meanwhile, Jesus Christ, the nativity, and live manger scenes
Attempt to teach people what the Christmas season really means.
A few carolers come singing along their neighborhood streets.
And the folks that they sing too, with big smiles, surprise them with treats.

A God loving soul amid the clamorous celebrations,
Gathers his family, to make costumes and preparations.
Mary, Joseph, Jesus, shepherds, and the three Kings with gifts, myrrh.
Reverently, they reenact our blessed Savior's Holy birth.

This poem was written for Carolyn Devonshire's Christmas in Your Town contest.
Poetic form: A narrative written in couplets.

My Name

My name may not be special, and it may be very plain,
It may be John or Mary, it may be Mike or Jane.
But I know a name that’s sweeter than any name on earth,
And this is that great season we celebrate His birth.
One day a special angel named Gabriel came to say
Unto a virgin woman, “You’ll have a son some day,
And you will call Him Jesus, for He will come this way
To save all of His people from sin and sad dismay.”
That night there in a stable this precious child was born,
And now we celebrate it on every Christmas morn.
His name is far more precious than any name before
For unto you was born then the Savior, Christ, the Lord.
One day He died on Calvary His blood to shed for me,
To give mankind salvation abundant and so free.
I bowed in prayer to trust Him, forgive me from my sin,
He wrote my name in heaven, a new life did begin.
So now this Savior Jesus is the sweetest name I know,
He knows my name in heaven where some day I will go.
If YOU don’t know this Savior, He calls from heaven above,
“Trust My name for salvation, receive My gift of love.”
And when you do, He’ll give you eternal life so free,
And write YOUR name in heaven, forever there to be!

Christ is Christmas

Christ is Christmas.

The children gather, and there smiles so bright,
The family gathers to see the tree, what an awesome sight.
The tinsel and the lights strung all around,
Adorned with gold and silver, even treasures found.

The wreath hung upon the door, to welcome everyone,
To settle and enjoy the sights when all the work is done.
The fireplace so warm and the wood stacked so tall
It’s truly a season loved by one and all.

Christmas should be the example we certainly should share,
Showing everyone Gods love and that we do care.
Offer His love in everything you do and say,
It doesn’t have to be a season, or Christmas day.

There is so much hurt, so much sadness in our time and day,
That we need to give the gift of love, and hope when we pray.
Christmas seems to be the one time of year we give,
Don’t forget our testimony, and the way we should live.

If we could touch, just one soul along our path and way,
It could be Christmas each and every passing day.
How joyous, and exciting that would truly be,
To show the world Christmas and what Jesus means to me.

If There Was NO Christmas

What if Christmas never happened? What if Christmas never came? Things around here would be different! It wouldn’t be the same! What if the baby Jesus was never born in a manger? Mankind would be in serious trouble. We’d all be in danger! If the baby Jesus wasn’t born. There would be no nativity. Many say; “Happy Holiday.” They worry they may “offend.” Having a “holiday” without Christ…. By Jim Pemberton

Angels are Cleaning

White blankets over the town
Soft and cold with little sound
A small child asked, “Where does snow come from Mom”
Will, I believe the angels are cleaning house
Oh well that must really have a mess up there
“Yes I laughed”!
Mom, I know where the mess is coming from
You do?
The angels are crying from all the sadness and war going on
Right?
“Gasp”
Well doesn’t water freeze?
Yes, so they must be crying again
Mom, I hope they stop because Christmas is coming
I like to play in snow, but not if the angels are sad
Everyone should be happy at Christmas right?

Christmas Time

I tried to be tough in prison, stronger then them all.
But when Chrismas came around, my tears would begin to fall.
I thought of my family, and how they all missed me.
So I'd close my cell door, so no one in prison could see.
Then I'd take my sadness, and turn it into mad.
When I thought of my children, getting no presents from their Dad.
Then one day when my tears began to fall.
My cell door opened up, and my name was called.
I remember that day, as I sat all alone.
When the guard handed me the news, it was a letter from home.
It was a letter from my Mother, telling me Christmas was near.
And it was the greatest Christmas ever, because I was safe inside of here.
She said before I came to prison, her tears fell every night.
She just wanted to know where her son was, just to know he was all right.
Then I saw tears on the letter, before the next line had begun.
She said Christmas aint about presents, Christmas is about the Son.
Christmas aint about no tree, or your children getting toys.
And believe me son, these tears you see are tears of joy.
She said as you sit in your cell, don't let it be all that you see.
And know that the greatest gifts, don't fit under no tree.
So turn your tears into joy, before you let them fall.
And know that Christmas is here, even inside of prison walls.

THE DRUMMER

A lone spiritual drummer, marches across the cold
Desert sands,
Strumming a sacred hymns mystical tune,
Does ignorance orphan child, beat at his canvas drum,
Starvation's hungry kindred, yet in faith’s devotion,
He has found strengths salvation, and so he plays on.
Above is illuminations guiding star,
Shines in glories divine heights on high.
Smile do the angel’s in the heaven's chorus,
Keeping the rheum with this marching
Soldier of God, thread baron sandaled feet ache,
But the heart of youth feels
It not, for his little song is all he has to give,
To the innocent lamb of the lord, God!
Oh in his weakness of his limbs throbbing,
As the devils scorpions sting at
The feet of this drummer of faith,
But joyous purity lights up the heart
From within him, so he plays on.
Although many caravans of wealth offer him comforts warmth,
Or foods fragrances of substances richness could he stop, and
Taste, yet he moves onwards forth, continuing
To play on.
Left unguarded flocks of sheep, wander aimlessly amongst
The cities ancient cobble stone streets, yet they shy from
This lad as if knowing, this is the message sounder,
Proclaiming the birth of the savior is at hand,
And the plays on.
In a humble barn, in the poorest part of town,
A child of grace is born unto the world of men,
And in is face shines the glow of deliverance,
Hope, and peace for all humanity,
And the song plays on.
Kneeling before this tiny figure, the drummer plays
His final tones of worship, for on this night he joins in
A mightier choir, wrapped in the everlasting warmth
Of his true fathers house, amongst the heavens,
And the so his little song plays on.

Star-lite Skies and Dancing Song

Star-lite Skies and Dancing Song

Watching the filtering falling snow
As a slight breeze gently will-fully flow,
The magical feelings which comes so near
The silence of St. Nicholas will be coming dear,
Hast thou have seen the twinkling stars
Above the mystical illuminated heavens far.

Thus, all has fallen to all human kind
Where our sweet Lord adorns our human mind,
He leads us all joyfully upon this land
For promises of love and glory within our hand,
Soon St. Nicholas will be dancing along
Under the star-lite skies and prancing reindeer.

And singing delightful Christmas song
he'll be singing: Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas
To one and all with harmonious Cheer.

Christmas -- As We See It

CHRISTMAS – AS WE SEE IT

A sparkling white crest of new fallen snow
A bakery window laden with freshly baked pastries
Children – sledding down a hillside or skating on a frozen pond
Sleigh bells ringing on a horses harness as the sleigh swishes by
Cardinals, waxwings, and sparrows lingering on the bird feeder
                                         for one last seed
Shoppers, braving the cold and hurrying from one store to the next
                                         searching for that “perfect” gift
Postal workers delivering mounds of Christmas cards to countless friends and relatives
Traffic at a standstill, waiting for the light to change
Street lamps blazing with twinkling lights and banners proclaiming MERRY CHRISTMAS
Church marquees advertising their upcoming Christmas Cantata
Soup kitchens serving a multitude of needy and homeless people
Bell ringers from the Salvation Army as they solicit donations
People being nice to one another for at least this season
This, and much more is Christmas – as we see it
But what of the real reason for Christmas
A baby lying a manger awaiting the time when He will declare His Kingship
Shepherds, as they hurry to Bethlehem to “see this thing that has come to pass,
which the Lord has made known to us”
Mary, Joseph, and the Baby Jesus surrounded by animals –
animals which are also a part of Christmas
Behold, the Star of Bethlehem shining bright as it did thousands of years ago
Yes, we see Christmas in various ways, but let us not miss Christ –
                                     the real reason for Christmas
Let us embrace Him – not just as a Baby born of a virgin
But as Lord and Savior of our life – King of Kings and Lord of Lords

CHRISTMAS TIME

As the wind blows past His window
And the loving sun shines upon His pretty face,
He feels a funny kind of joy
And He knows today is going to be special.

He gets up every morning knowing what the day will bring
He tries to fill His life with happiness,
He lives for the joy He brings
He’s never without a smile.

He is not famous for his work or money He owns
The children of the world knows Him for the joy He brings,
He only comes once a year, He’s never late
He’s not real, but who cares.

He will come every year until the end of time
He will not let us forget
It’s a time for love and sharing
A time for caring for all.

It’s Christmas Time
We must never forget
What Christmas stands for
We must never forget

The love
The sacrifice
The Father
The Son

FESTIVE DECORATIONS AND HYMNS

Many Christmas Trees are seen
around the Yule Season in my city;
they all are very tall and beautiful,
but the Rockefeller Plaza's Norway spruce
is the most gigantic and spectacular
with its multicolored lights that resemble stars.

Christmas is a wonderful experience on New York's City busy streets:
stores, pubs, restaurants and shops dress up with decorations so dazzling;
where else can you find a Santa ringing a bell and spreading good cheers...
wishing New Yorkers and visitors a Merry Christmas with a tone so thrilling?
On Christmas Eve, Saint Patrick's Cathedral echoes with joyful hymns,
and Child Jesus smiles at children as they caress His soft and divine face.

THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS

The mountains majestic 'neath the mid winter sky
there was a peace in the air for Christmas was nigh
The valley serene as he gazed there below
and saw the sparkle of lights through the fresh
falling snow
He traveled alone as he had through the years
over thousands of miles through his sorrows and tears
He was just thirty when he lost his dear wife
so tragic and and to precious young life
Though he knew that one day that one day
that his time would come
that he would see her again and again they'd be one
Now tomorrow was Christmas said the lights across town
and time for some rest
to lay himself down
The lights of a diner appeared in the night
so he let off the throttle and eased to the right
He sensed something different as he walked through
the door
there was a peace in the air and a cloud near the door
A silver haired sat there by himself
said the cups are up there to your right on the shelf
He poured him a cup and sat across from the man
and noticed the scars on his hands
He though who is this man and where is this place
why all this peace when I look on his face
As he pondered the thought the gent spoke again
I've something to share is how he began
I've watched you my son since I first gave you life
Know the love that you shared with your beautiful wife
I held your heart in my hand as it shattered in two
and cried along with you when she was taken from you
Yet I noticed you didn't put life on a shelf
for over the years you gave of yourself
You tended the needy the sick and the lame
and though you were lonely you gave just the same
You've shown to others what givings about
and many a time that you went without
The spirit of giving is not in the gift
but what's in your heart when others you lift
So humbly he listened to the words of this man
when on his right shoulder he felt a warm hand
All the love he was feeling all the peace and the grace
were revealed in his tears as he gazed on her face
The midnight has passed now and morning has come
for these twenty four hours you two shall be one
Each year on this day tis what I will do
as you've given to others I give unto you.

Blue Moon Christmas (continued)

But she would not even read it – she knew what lay within—
A red rage toward her country now the fire that was her friend.
Yet just a few days later on a now black Christmas Eve—
Another knock was heard from a cowboy come home on leave.

And Jim Blue Moon stood on the porch with presents in one arm,
A proof against dark forces wishing all of us great harm.
He said like Twain, news of his death was exaggerated—
And with smiles his wife helped him in, and they celebrated.

Yet in the haze of happiness and all her loving care,
Only now did Liz realize Blue’s left arm was not there.
But snatching life from death’s dark rider is a precious thing,
And nothing could dispel the joy their reunion would bring.

Then came the new Christmas day, which now seemed so clear and bright—
Yet Blue held back - flexed his cold metal arm in morning light.
“I wonder if it was worth it?” Blue mumbled at the sight—
But Liz nodded and said: “Yes, you did the thing that was right.”

Then they slowly opened presents - three united again—
Later dad and mom came over, and each rodeo friend.
“PBR’s done,” dad whispered in a voice like from the grave—
“Heck no!” Blue then replied, “I just lost the arm that I wave!”

Sure enough, with prosthetic arm, Blue rode the bulls once more—
Till he volunteered to go back to that faraway shore.
Alone, Jim’s wife held their child and the inner one so new—
As a full, pale Christmas moon rose and slowly turned to blue.

By Jim Pemberton 12/06/10

Once Upon A Christmas

I stand at the window and watch the snow fall
It's been two hours since Billy left
The wind has built, a blizzard set in
And I can't put my mind at rest.

The snow has drifted blocking the road he took
But he knows his job, the cattle must be watered and fed
And hay for the baby calves to bed.
"I'll be all right," he said.

There is no school it is Christmas vacation
The radio predicted conditions to worsen.
With his family save and warm
He then sets about caring for those out in the storm.

TV and presents keep the children entertained
While I my hair do pull.
Dinner is ready and still Billys not home
And with questions like "When's daddy coming home?
And "Can I go out and play in the snow?"

It is hard for them to understand
It isn't just a snow fall, the danger is far to grave
Wander to far and they could be lost
And in turn perhaps lose their lives.

Two o'clock, three o'clock, four o'clock came
Finally Billy comes through the door
Wet, exhausted and frozen to the bone
He removed his outer garments and collapsed on the chair.

As he ate the children came
Excited to have daddy home
Satisfied he was safe and sound
They went back to their TV and games.

Chore time came and the blizzard ruled
I offered to do my share
He smiled and said, "Everything's fine.
Just the cow to milk and the pigs to feed
And I'll be right back inside. "

I put on my coat took shovel in hand
And worked at clearing the path.
In an hour it would be covered again
But I needed to have some fresh air.

All were in bed, the Christmas tree bright
The Nativity set caught my eye
Tenderly I picked up the manger, bow my head and say
"Thank You Baby Jesus and Happy Birthday."

                                                                Cile Beer

The Gift

Gifts that come in boxes all
Wrapped in pretty paper and bows.
Awaiting the dawn of Christmas morn
To be recieved with hearts aglow.

A Gift of that special word that comes from
The heart, telling of the Christmas story.
Mary, Joseph, Shepherds, and Kings afar,
Stars bright, it must be Christmas Eve night.

The Gift, lies in a manger of straw,
The glow that out shines the stable stall.
Angels sing their songs with heavenly bliss,
Jesus, Son of God born for us all.

Face In the Snow

Sly had him no love for Christmas,
It was just another day—
When the devout celebrated
And weak-willed cowpokes did pray.

Old Sly, he weren’t all that bad—
No, by gosh, he sure was not—
He never did shoot him a man
That he didn’t think need shot.

Sly Stern was just an old drover
Who outlived his friends and time—
That was headed nowhere that day
Without a care or a dime.

So it was Christmas that morning
As he crossed the Mummy Range—
Heading higher and still higher,
When he felt a little strange.

He’d crossed these old mountains before,
But never on Christmas day—
Yet now he felt a bit confused
And he couldn’t find his way.

The wind and the cold grew fiercer—
Snow hit his face with hard slaps,
Sly knew he needed some shelter
As one hand froze to his chaps.

But all he could find was a ledge,
A wind break with icy sage.
He unsaddled his horse gently—
For the first time felt his age.

Quickly, Sly gathered up damp wood—
Built a fire to heat his soul—
Christ seemed nothing in a blizzard
As the snow soon took its toll.

Hours passed and so did the fire
As white snow whirled and then screamed—
For a moment he saw a face
Or so that old drover dreamed.

The blizzard grew stronger that day,
The worst in thirty odd years—
Covering the whole Mummy Range:
A Christmas with joy and tears.

With numb hands and ice-cased whiskers,
Sly took bullets from his belt,
Gently arranged them in the snow
To spell out just how he felt.

For in those final dear moments,
One face appeared in the snow—
The face of the Lord of this earth,
A face that he would now know.

Two months later his friend found it,
Next to his rock-frozen hoss—
The old drover’s bullets laid out
In the rough shape of the cross.

Though his saddle and gun remained,
There was no trace of old Sly—
It was as if he’d been taken
Away, far up, in the sky.

A Christmas Tale

As snowflakes form into crystalline beds
Santa dresses up in his suit so red
Reindeer restless to come out of their stall
Christmas is the most wonderful night of them all
All across the world it's so beautiful to see
People taking the time to fill others hearts with glee
Somewhere high above the clouds in a special place
God and Son sit on their throne a smile upon their face
The reason they are smiling is it warms their heart to see
Love and cheer is everywhere that it could possibly be
Somewhere in a little town nestled nicely away
A worried man looks at the bills he knows he must pay
As his daughter points at the advertisement on t.v.
Excitedly asking of her dad, "Will Santa bring that for me"
Suddenly he hears more mail land in the box
With a thud that hits his heart like a thousand locks
As he shuffles through the bills that day he runs across a card
So he stops and opens it right there in the yard
The thing about this card that made the odds so slim
This man had absolutely no idea who sent it to him
It said,"We know times are tough and what your going through"
"So we placed $500 in this card and sent it off to you"
He searched the envelope and card but there was no name at all
He reckons that makes this wonderful gift the greatest gift of all
He talks it over with his wife and they give half away
To help the local shelter feed the hungry on Christmas day
As we scurry about these days in an awful fuss
I believe up in heaven the Lord is smiling down on us
Because he knows on Christmas day that most all humanity
Takes the time to stop and say, "Lord we give thanks to thee"

Totally fictional poem but the message is one that
needs be heard. In every town across our nation
hungry families will file into the many shelters
hoping to get them and their children a hot meal
and possibly a single gift. If everyone who could
afford to give a dollar would no one would be
turned away - Merry Christmas

Away In The Manger

out in the pasture sits a church
homemade by brothers hands and filled with dirt

given to Mother so it stops her hurt
decorated each Christmas for what's its worth

as Mother lays down the cotton skirt
out comes the angels the manger and baby Jesus without a shirt

next comes her towering soldiers buried into the dirt
holding their swords that really can hurt

strewn lights gazes upon the pasture's dirt
frozen in time like a star that shivers and quirks

Mama's eyes glistens like fireworks bursts
for all her effort and time even when she hurts

as mother kneels in front of her church
she praises baby Jesus for all he's worth

comes in from the cold and winters bursts
gathers the children as they all look at her work

and tells us the story of a Christmas birth
as we sip on hot chocolate and felt the hurt

of how Jesus died for our sins on this earth
as we wiped our tears with our night shirts

I was glad to run out and relight the candles burst
and give baby Jesus one more kiss and fix his grass skirt

IT'S TIME TO START THINKING HARD

It's the wonderful Holiday Season,
and lights are twinkling everywhere;
have better intentions or a good reason
to be kinder and more aware.

It's time to start thinking hard
and planning for next year,
the year in which wishes are granted
to the few who were willing to share.

Haven't you seen the colorful lights on wide wreaths
that adorn the noisy streets and avenues?
Haven't you heard the carols choruses praising Jesus?
Why is your loneliness an urge for blues?

It's almost Christmas Day and no snowflakes have fallen;
the presents haven't been wrapped, but stored in dark closets...
while other folks have already beat the Yule rush by winding down
with expectations on their minds...will you be like them and exchange presents?

Haven't you remembered the birth of our Savior?
Have you done awesome deeds and spread true joy anywhere?
Nothing is more satisfying than being generous,
sharing your wealth and make the needy less trepidatious.

It's time to start thinking hard and be a witness into the Lord,
and if the Christmas word means nothing on a greeting card:
what other joy or thrill is left by giving with empty hands?
Have you remembered the affection and the kindness of friends?

The magic of Christmas

So colorful and festive
that Christmas brings to us;
preparations abound elsewhere –
with gifts, kind thoughts and generosity.

Young and old alike share
what Christmas means to them.
A celebration of faith, an act of life
shown with love and loyalty to God.

Mammoth crowds emerge on the horizons
shoppers found in malls, post offices
and other retail stores.
Like a magic, they meet in different places.

It’s a season suffused with life
pregnant with meaning
and significance.
Like a magic that draws us to reflect
Christmas means for all ages.

Amen, Good Times

Her special month is November,
 My special month is December,
Gather around the fireplace,
 look at the burning ember
 My special time to remember,
 Listen to the wind chimes,
 These are my good times,
 Hear my voice,
 Please feel rejoice.
 Amen.
 No time for depression,
 Time for love and affection,
 Streets filled with snow,
 We're under the misltoe,
There we had our first kiss,
I've never felt so much bliss,
 Listen to the wind chimes,
 These are my good times,
 Hear my voice,
 Please feel rejoice.
Amen.
 Its time for joy,
Kids playing with their favorite toy,
Gathering around the Christmas tree,
 Always something jolly to see,
 Looking back at the year,
 Not a single tear,
 Flying reindeer,
Doing the shopping at the mall,
 Merry Christmas to all,
 Listen to the wind chimes,
These are my good times,
 Hear my voice,
 Please feel rejoice.
Amen.
We're coming home,
As a kid thats all we've known,
 Our homecoming,
 Our family singing,
 We're coming home again,
 Celebration with our children,
 We're coming home again,
Bringing our souls closer to Heaven.

Those Times I Remember Back When

Those Times I Remember Back When

There’s something to be said of those days gone by
and those times I remember back when
the streets were filled with Holiday cheer
and God’s wish of peace to all men.

I remember the distant days of my youth
and the snow covered streets of my town,
of carolers singing their songs of the Truth
and of those who as they listened stood round.

The street light posts were decorated in season
and store fronts looked like Christmas time.
Yet, I never forgot that Jesus was the reason
for the true peace that many still find.

But every year and always without fail
we would go to that place by the waterfalls.
A nativity scene close by the train rails
was so breathtaking it drew one and all.

And another place just up outside of town
held such excitement for all us kids each year.
It was as if the North Pole we had found
and I could feel that Christmas was drawing near.

Just a few pages from past memories
and our Christmas times shared with mom and dad.
Even singing carols in church on Christmas Eve;
one more reminder of the good times we had.

Conversations with the Cat

Two questions to start.

Why do you call yourself, enlightened? And who enlightened you?

***

What if the Bible were a bit misleading? I mean it is already pretty vague in many areas, notions etc.

***

This is somewhat related. Everything is somewhat related. We call this God.

Did you know that the lion and the snake both represent Satan, and Jesus?

***

I ask the opening questions again.

***

Translation?

It matters, translation. It affords errors which beget more, errors.

***

Lion Snake

Lion Snake

***

Son of Man? Or Son of God?

It matters.

The bronze serpent on a pole.

One must be very careful who one has faith in.

***

I am not the Messiah.

I think the Bible has been misinterpreted.

Lion Snake matters.

I call God father.

Jesus was a lamb.

***

Between a Jew and a Christian I am.

One group won't let me in basically and the other I am not sure of this messiah.

I follow God. God is my rock. That is what most Jews do too.

I ain't a Jew though.

I don't really want to be a Jew. I thought I did once. I don't.

Christians, I get them sometimes.

Jesus, he really did die for our sins. I mean he really died.

People are still trying to kill him.

Cat, that is crazy.

Christ Came For You

He was born this day over two thousand years ago,
A Savior for the world to know.
The angels rejoiced, and shepherds went to see
This baby born to set captives free.
In your life have you done the same,
Sought the gift that on Christmas came?
Have you allowed Jesus to save you from sin?
Have you invited this dear Savior in?
If you haven't, this is what I pray,
Accept the real gift of Christmas today.
It's available to you if you ask and believe
And Christ as your Savior you do receive.
If you know Christ as your Savior now,
Share what He's done in your life somehow,
And give thanks to Him on the day of His birth
For what His coming into your life is worth.
May you know the spirit of Christmas all year through,
And celebrate daily that Christ came for you.

Merry Christmas in This Recession

Merry Christmas to all of you,
I hope that you enjoy your family,
Even if you can’t buy your kids any toys.
The real reason for the season should stand clear,
Especially this year that we are in a recession.
It is a vast blessing that we are here,
Whether we are employed or not,
Whether we are far from friends or near.

Jesus is the reason why wee are here,
And it is a great thing to celebrate his birth,
Because he is worth more than anything we can buy.
So this Christmas look into the sky to give the big guy,
Not Santa Claus, praise for His first day of life.
Husbands’ mega love your wives.
Mom’s and dad’s ultra cherish your kids,
And let them know whose birthday it is.

I don’t have much this year,
But I will still spread cheer.
To be here it is more than a blessing
Merry Christmas to you in this recession.

GETTING INTO THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT

Getting into the Christmas spirit,
by examining my introspection
and making new plans for the future;
and sparking up your imagination...
could anyone imagine me dressed
as Santa Claus, who never has the minimal time
to watch a log consumed by a crackling fire?
Think again, I could be that Saint Nicholas so bold!

Prejudice is not a part of this Christmas Season,
all kinds of people, of different ages and races,
celebrate it; and it may vary from country to country
with traditions as far as Saturnalia or Yuletide...
that was a time when pagans started this festivity,
and with the birth of Jesus, the Christians
adopted these traditions as their own...
so should we object and put them aside?

Getting into the Christmas spirit,
unpacking decorations for my new Christmas Tree,
from boxes that waited too long for this day of joy;
and even my toddler, Jack, comes downstairs tripping,
handing me Grandma's favorite star, which
she had hidden away into a treasure chest so jealously,
to place on the top of this forest-scented pine tree...
when we all gather and sing," Silent Night."

Getting into the Christmas spirit,
adding, not taking away names from my long list;
and even though these are tough economic times,
I plan to be generous to all without feeling the pinch!
Give the very best of your intentions,
either in gift or in warmest embrace;
give and be content to catch that infant's smile in the distance;
the tender smile of the Holiest Child, who will give of Himself!

Christmas wish for momma

Don’t cry my very own little ones

I assure you I’ll be alright

For tonight I’m gone to visit Jesus

For Upon you I shall shine a light

Maybe within the big bright sun

Or maybe the twinkling of a star

But may you find the comfort in light

Of knowing from you I’m never far.

I’m on the glistening green grass

Within the bright morning dew

I’m in the warm breeze a blowing

Blowing my kisses right to you.

I’m in the soft gentle rain

That falls upon your face

I’m in those pure white blankets of snow

Holding you in my embrace.

I’m in the moon that shines so bright

On your darkest nights

I’m always in that great big blue sky

To show you your guiding light.

So never feel you are all alone

Or you never have a friend

Because I’ll always be right beside you

From now and all throughout the end.

I’m everywhere you go

And in everything you do

I’m in your heart and in your soul

For my love will always follows you.

The little girl watched with boundless tears

As her angel slowly faded away

“Merry Christmas Momma,” the little girl said

“I’ll see you on Christmas day.”

I Remember the Day

I Remember the Day
     By Dane Smith-Johnsen

I can remember the day like yesterday,
When the snowfall brought much glee,
One Florida church made a wish that year.
Flakes of snow they wanted to see.
Praying with hope, they entreated their God,
Asking together on knees.
“We are so poor and no gifts will there be
For the Christmas tree this year,”
But they trusted in Heavenly Father's love.
I in their eyes great faith saw--
There were dreams that they dreamed and truly believed
“Send Christmas snow, God please.”

To show their great faith in God for the snow,
Paper snowflakes one by one,
Appeared each day in the bright sunlight
Thrilling, enchanting, and fun.
Then, many other people came,
When the snowflakes they did see,
They stayed to pray with those poor that day.
Snowflakes taped where others could see.

Some people not nearly as faithful as these
Came mocking the poor folks’ glee.
And that was the reason (as many know,
In this place of poverty)
That the snow wish to God was repeated
Saying, “Snowflakes, send to us please.”

And the snowflakes they cut for the window with care
Were like snowflakes school children make
With glittery paper of white
And one of the mockers that came there to fight
Remembered the good Lord above
Then, joined in the joy shared that night
And helped make many snowflakes with love.

Thus, Christmas never comes that I don't think about
The snowflakes that appeared one by one.
For the wish that they made was like no other wish
Those poor who had faith to believe
And all that they asked for from Father above
Were snowflakes in Florida showing God's love.
And that's what He gave them Christmas Day.
In the snow that God gave children played.

This is based on a true story... It took place at a State Welfare Office, not a Church.

Multicultural Britain - An Unapologetic Statement

Multicultural Britain
(An Unapologetic Statement)

Two “Festivals of Light” there are
Each and every year
The Jewish have their Hanukah
And Hindus their Diwali cheer

The end of Ramadan brings Eid il Fitr
The Muslim fasting's passed
The Welsh National Eisteddford
Culture, craft, songs not surpassed

There is the pagan Betain
That Celtic Festival of Fire
And the famous summer Solstice
Stonehenge, druids and sun inspire

Halloween crosses boundaries
Between Christian and Heathen
Leading on into November
Honouring death and ghosts of men

But amid all this Britain is
A bastion of Christianity
While accepting all religions
They too should be made to see

That in our tolerance still we stand
With our ceremonies and feasts in tact
Our Lent, Easter and Christmas
This is a simple statement of fact

Please don’t tread upon these rights
Which we’ve defended for years
Don’t rename our traditions
And cause confusion or trite fear

The Godless in society
Can rant and claim new ground
But faith is our foundation
And that foundation is very sound

So it IS a Merry Christmas
And a Happy New Year too
The Scots can call is Hogmanay
Because they have and always do

It is a happy holiday
To all despite their creed
To each give them utmost respect
In thought and word and deed

But let us all remember
Respect is a two way street
Do not dictate our policies
Among people that you meet

This country was here before you came
And settled on these shores
This is the British way of life
That you’ve chosen, now, as yours

So let the religions flourish
And none to those who’ve none
And live in total harmony
Until our time is done

A Christmas Thought

Look around you right now, do you know what you see,
You see what most people in the world, only see in their dreams,

Look at the tree, no big deal just a Christmas tree,
Well for some, this is a fantasy, they've never seen,

Look around, do you see the people you're with,
Cherish them, because some people don't know what family is,

Did you enjoy the meal, and give proper thanks,
Somewhere, there's someone, who hasn't eaten for days,

I'm not trying, to make anyone feel bad,
I'm just trying, to make you all realize what you have,

I hope you know, how lucky you truly are,
To spend Christmas with family, not passed out, at some bar,

Did you know there are 86400 seconds in a day,
Have you taken a couple, to tell god "thanks",

I'm very thankful to have my family here with me tonight,
Thank you, for bringing so much joy, to my life

Still your not here

It’s Valentines Day full of cards and kisses
Wish you were here covers all of my wishes

Easter is here and were celebrating our lord
Each day that passes I miss you even more

It’s been seven years today since we said, “I do”
It seems longer than that since I last held you

We all gather together for the birth of our land
It’s the Fourth of July and your not here as we planned

It’s your birthday today marking 34 years
When I think of you celebrating alone, it brings me to tears

Now it’s thanksgiving and the families all here
The rooms filled with spirit and still your not here

Out of habit I set a place at the tables head
The kids leave it and “Soon Mom” is all that was said

Santa is coming and kids are full of cheer
I try to keep smiling even though you are not here

Pictures with Santa and the lighting of the tree
Smiles on Christmas morning I wish you could see

We gather to wish good tidings to all
I sit and wait by the phone thinking maybe you’d call

You have missed a great deal in the year you’ve been gone
Jason had a great time at his junior prom

Katie turned seven and Chrissie turned two
For all their birthday wishes- they just wished for you

At night we all get tucked into bed
We snuggle up close and then bow our heads

Dear Lord please keep special watch over our Dad
If anything happens to him we’ll be so sad

He’s over helping the other country grow
Doing his job as you already know

He’s helping other little boys and girls
Opening their eyes to a whole new world

We are so proud of him and hold our heads high
But each night we hear mommy lay there and cry

We all miss him more than you know
Yet during the day we don’t let it show

We have to be strong and keep the faith
That soon he’ll be home with us and be safe

We are proud to hang that flag up high
We are all so full of American pride

We pray for all the soldiers’ safe return home
We pray that there are no more families left alone

Dear God for this Christmas please hear us pray
Bring our soldiers home where they belong, where they’ll stay

The Virgin Birth

Walking on the water of the life before the birth of pain.
Seeking to become the savoir of a World become insane.
Coming to this planet not inside a golden spacecraft.
Coming to this planet from a place of quietness.
Using the life of Spirit to explain the life within.
Poetical remembrances of virgin birth await us soon.
Future is often just repeated past.
Only once is Grace afforded us.
Please dont let it lapse.
This Christmas remember Christmas Future
while enjoying Christmas past,
and Inn this Christmas Present
please say Jesus of the Virgin Birth.
When people cry for saving this one will,
The City Of The Nazerene is always on a hill.

Peace on Earth

When Christmas
sends peace on Earth,
it must stay here for ever,
because this love comes from the stars.

I wish days like Christmas
will stay on Earth and never go,
with the bird's song on the snow
while heaven sends its own music.

Laughter and million lights,
like the rays of the star,
like the angel's song
like the wind's soft whisper.

This is Christmas, this is peace,
this is love in our hearts;
for the rich, for poor, for young and old,
God's treasure will open.-

Merry Christmas

The tree is made of mostly plastic and metal,
With blinking lights above its plastic pedestal.
With ornaments of wood, plastic and glass,
   Decorate its branches amass.
A star that twinkles like the one in the sky above,
Placed gently atop my tree with love.
With presents lying neath its outward branches,
And children’s imagination as to what are the chances.
They weigh the boxes and gently shake them too,
Hoping upon hope to just get a clue.
As wrapping paper gets slightly torn, accidental for sure,
The children look so innocent and pure.
A gift is a gift no matter the price,
If given from the heart it has to be nice.
With family and friends we gather around,
This decorated tree where our love will be found.
Before presents are passed out we say a little prayer,
And thank our Lord and Savior for the love that He shares.
Happy Birthday baby Jesus I heard someone say,
You are the reason we celebrate Christmas Day.
May peace and joy and love fill your lives on this Holy day,
And continue to guide you and show you the way!
Merry CHRISTmas to all, it came from a manger filled with hay,
And gave His life’s blood so we all could receive the Kingdom one day.
Merry Christmas….

Lets Share The Gift Of Christmas

(Family and Friendships Formed Of His Love)

The gift I have to share; cannot fit beneath your Christmas tree--
I come to you in the spirit of Love, bearing a gift of friendship true,
In remembrance of Our Lord and Saviour above
I extend a sisterly hand in fellowship to you -- through faith,
I ask Our Lord to lift you up and grant your every need

Come all ye faithful ~ sing the holy praises
Saintly men and women, as even the angels do…
Oh sinner man, I hope for your redemption too --
While praying and joyfully praising GOD
As He allows us to freely do ~

The Beloved Peace of the Messiah be with all of you
May his Holy Spirit be felt in the hearts of all, so true~
Let the saving Grace of Christmas be remembered every day
For its the precious gift of GOD above, granted to me and you~
Let's share this gift of Christmas, as our Lord would have us to do…

Why Do Some Take Christ Out of Christmas

Why Do Some Take Christ Out Of Christmas? Christmas is the only holiday that many don’t call by name. Many often forget about the true reason that Christ came. By Jim Pemberton 11/05/12

Jesus and the angels

Two days before Christmas Eve in New York City.
A little girl named Hope had the heart of a giant at the age of seven years old.
Hope and her loving parents where all together decorating the Christmas tree.
Hope asked her mother, “Mommy will I ever see Jesus and all the angels”.
“One day when it’s your time”, said her mother.
“It would be nice to visit grandma again”, said Hope.
Her mother told her, “You know she’s always looking down on you”.
“Really”, she asked her father with a big smile.
That night Hope woke up with a stomach ache.
“Daddy, daddy my tummy is hurting again”, Hope cried to her father.
He told her, “Alright let’s get some medicine from the cabinets”.

A little while later Hope got really sick.
She was taken to the nearest hospital.
The doctors couldn’t figure out what was wrong.
Running tests over and over.
Still nothing showed up on the screen until they x-rayed on her stomach.
Finally an answer was found, but a cure was not.
It was all too late for little Hope.
She had developed cancer and it was on the final stage.

Any moment would be time for her to go.
Her parents cried in deep sorrow, thinking how to tell their child that she’s going to
die.
Hope’s parents walked in the room trying fighting the tears from their eyes.
They asked their daughter, “Sweetie do you remember about the place called
heaven?”
“That’s were God lives”, Hope said
Her father said, “Well pretty soon you’re going to take a trip there”.
She asked, “Will I get to meet Jesus and all the angels?”
Tears began to rolling down their eyes as they hugged their little girl goodbye.

The funeral was held on a beautiful Sunday morning.
Hope’s mother couldn’t bear the pain any more.
The next night she had a dream about her daughter.
“Mommy I’m coming to tell you that I love you”, Hope said.
She continued, “I know you miss me when you cry but forever I will always be with
you”.
“Tell daddy I love him too and grandma sends her love”.
“I got to meet all the angels and even Jesus too”.
“It’s almost time for me to go back”.
“Don’t worry about me because now grandma and I are watching over you”.

Marry...? Christmas.

ding- dong -ding-dong- ding
jingle bells as people flourish the streets looking for what ...presents,
as a child sees Christmas they see what they will get,
an adult sees Christmas as a time to belittle over worked merchants,
we wish you a marry Christmas rings out from sound tracks at the mall,
bitter no good grenches take this time to watch the poor crawl,
ever see a spoiled child smile with joy?
ba rump bum bum,bum
ever see a single mother scrape to by her kids just one toy?
ba rumb bum-bum-bum
oh silent night where have you gone,
this holy night what have you become,
this is what I got this is how in debt I now am,
bills forgotten to sooth your rotten and lets not forget the ham,
a night when a poor woman gave birth to her baby-Christ ,
we celebrate with a grand feast to stuff our face in his name-nice,
walking in a winter wonder land is where the true meaning is,
a time when a family sits and counts their blessings and holds their kids,
we wish you a marry Christmas we wish you any thing this
working over time doing what ever it takes for ...a gift?
oh come all thee faithful think about it to be here together we should all be greatful,
thank you for what you gave me- CD's, DVD's ,I-POD,MP3's none of it was at his table,
but this is what we've done taking this holiday and turning it into- what we've become,
more then we can handle, more then our means, because more is better then some,
it's love that makes the children, it's love that sets the tone in our lives it's love-
you can have , are give all you want it's done out of love you want to do it out of love-
my Christmas is the love in my kids eyes, the smile on my wifes face,
they are my every Christmas gifts and at that moment there is no other place.
