Self inflicted blues

This day I grow tired
and so incredibly weary.
My heart holds only dreams
of a Life unfullfilled
A Life not nurtured,
yet barely a glimmer
of the spirit that once was.

I do have memories of some things good
-not all bad,
But the fear that I am alone
is Like a fingerprint on my Life.

Shadowing, waiting to pounce,
always there, unshakeable.

It's the mirrors that hold me accountable
to my actions.
Proof positive that where ever I go
there I am,
Naked, vulnerable, and yes
still alone.

As I try to allay this fear,
one Lonely and painful pluck at a time,
It becomes crystal clear, that I alone
am damaging my soul to the very core
with each stroke of my hand.

I steal one Last Look in the mirror
and know that I alone
have self inflicted these blues
Leaves me to ponder one question:

Will I ever allow myself the strength and grace
it will surely take to heal my scarred soul?

This poem was written in hopes of begining the healing process for my self. I
have a disease called trichiotillamania. It is an obsessive and manic urge to pull
one's own hair until baldness occurs. I'm a 48 year old woman, married(with kids
& grand kids)and have been doing this since the age of 5. It coincided with the
begining of my stepfather raping and torturing me which lasted until the age of
thirteen. This disease has me trapped and is NEVER letting me go. There are
two inflictions in regards to my hair pulling in this poem, one must know about
my disease in order to understand this poem.

childhood fantasies

i was six and you were nine
you would pack sunlight into a jar
tell me it was mine.

at night it lit my room.

when the stars were out
you'd throw stones to wake me up.

butterfly nets in hand
we'd catch stars from the sky
save them in our pockets.

i'd hand you my water gun
you’d load one at a time
pull the trigger
and yell
"quick wish on a shooting star."

now twenty and more old
i still have the jars
i still own every wish
i uttered silently
on those moonlit eves.

it was you
in my dreams
in my smile

always kind.

i only had one wish
you and i
clad in the innocence
of those times,

of dreams and laughs
i only wished
it would never end,
and your sunshine
safe in my memories
our childhood sealed in those jars.

After the fall

Quite frankly, I don't remember at all
You see I was quite young when I took my first fall.
Don't know which parent was there to catch me
Or how hard the decision was to stand back and let me.
Did I topple forward or backward, or who made the call.
And who scooped me up crying
After the fall.
I can't remember the joy of first letting go
And taking that step without holding on.
Groping my way forward
Leaning against the wall
I got back up
After the fall.
As the Earth spun the years flew by so fast
At 17 I finally knew everything at last!!
Unexpectedly, I fell once again,
Head over heels this time
And out on a limb.
I was so sure of that bet
I gambled it all
Heart bruised abused and then broken
After that fall.
And then I broke my own promise
To not love again.
Hungry for life
I gambled to win.
Life is a theatre of first steps first
A one act play with no time to rehearse.
Co starring in roles
Cast without planning.
"Never more" echoes
The raven still chanting.
Undaunted unwilling
To let darkness win all
Trusting Father to be there
After the fall.
Then the day came
When I had a son
To let him learn the word hot And hope he'd not run,
Would he still love me
Or trust me at all
When I pulled my hand back
And allowed him to fall?
And knowing I'd be there again
To help him to stand
And knowing he might never walk
If I didn't let go of his hand
And hoping he didn't revert back to a crawl
When I let go of his hand
And allowed him to fall.
As the earth kept on turning
My heart kept yearning
My son now a man
Living and learning.
He hasn't held my hand now in a very long time
The cats in the cradle slowly plays in the back of my mind.
I looked in the mirror today
And noticed my dad.
And remembered a talk that we'd never had.
Remembering how he seemed towering and tall
And was there every time
After each fall.
I lose my balance these days now and again
My steps aren't as sure
As they once might have been.
In the winter of life now
I feel so small
And wonder who'll catch me
If I take a fall.
I suppose I'll just have to trust Father
With both great things and small
To pick me up on the other side
When I take my last fall.

Average Age 19

Once again, the powers that must
In rise again in what we trust
An overseas conflict, another war
Just what in the hell are we fighting for

Families are asking, Korea has just passed
Generations again reft, how long will it last
A country in need, to rebuild again
Flags at half mast, in wind and rain strain

Once again into war, sent by the Washington Post
To send back reports to hit home the most
Military observers were the first to be sent in
Another chapter of man entering existing sin

I'm witnessing our ariel power, Lam Son 719
US planners determine their incursion, saying all will be fine
Along the Mekong River, we'll carpet bomb their supply trail
Tons of munitions and napalm, this spread surely cannot fail

Many sorties are being flown, for the wounded and the dead
Whilst Nixon and his cronies, aren't thinking with their heads
The news of losses has reached me, nineteen have been killed
Eleven missing, fifty nine wounded, more American blood spilled

Seven fixed wing aircraft, more sons in action loss
Whilst back at home more protests, fading the dyeing's gloss
To to this job that I do, I was never prepared for this
To witness such bloody scenes, and ignore that life is bliss

How can I write about a soldier, whose name I'll never know
Killed at nineteen years old, his family he'll never see grow
Or even explain to his parents, when carried from the AH-1
His body bullet riddled and limp, when lifted it bloodily run

I never went back to the theatre, called the Vietnam War
Having witnessed the wanton killing, what were we fighting for
This colonial conflict that started, us on the side of France
So many came back as strangers, many to live in trance

New age babies.

Quantum leap, material mind,
learning curve steep, perceptive mankind,
this earth inherited to keep, in the depth eyes shined,
the karmic benefits we reap, after money too long pined,
in the shadows they did creep, by our light left blind,
hearts awaken from their sleep, each ventricle gold lined,
More awake each enlightened peep, open hearts, contemplative minds; you'll be amazed at
what you find.

Been crawling, now it’s time to walk, too long the masses talking the talk.....

Just Be

Sometimes I admire the littlest things
A simple rock. A blade of grass.
They need no future goals, no tax exemptions
They don’t need to go anywhere or be anything
They just are.

Sometimes, especially when I’m reading life insurance policies,
I envy the rocks and the grass
And try to be like them for a moment.
I sit perfectly still and give myself to the wind-
And it whispers in my ear:
Just be.
And for that moment I don’t need to go anywhere or be anything.
And at the snap of my fingers,
All the complex widgets and gizmos that make up my life
Fold into paper airplanes and fly off in the wind.

Space Age

            Space Age

Ships float up forever out
Pilots who once sailed seas find new spirit
Airborne crafts fill the air
Children grow into machines that take them away
Earth was once their only home
And now the universe in endless boundaries is theirs
Geared up for foreign playgrounds, gone in an instant
Eternity is only minutes away and just beginning there

HORIZON OF INGENUITY

God’s new day awaits at the horizon’s gate.
The star of freedom rests amid the dawn.
It has been no less than a 400 year wait,
For a sign this age is about to be born.

No nation can expect to exist forever,
If all of its people are not totally free.
Chaining another’s neck is not clever;
For God’s liberty you will no longer see.

From the slave cabin to the prison cell,
God’s people’s journey has been.
Satan taught the bondman well—
Why America couldn’t possibly win.

Now the bodies of the oppressed demand rights,
And their oppressed souls are looking for peace.
The ballot boxes can offer many delights,
In this present age of political caprice.

The people have decided they want a change,
Since the contemporary world offers a marvelous deal.
And now that we know what God can arrange,
We will not settle for anything not real.

The Master Mind of Numbers

Ever since I have stepped into modernization, I have been pinched with values of the ancestors,
I cannot believe that the inside does not reflect the outside anymore,
When one says he or she has changed and become open minded,
Is it only to make one feel temporarily pleased or is just to enjoy hurting a person,
Why has age become a factor or an excuse to start a new problem?

Every time a heart skips a beat, the warm sensation takes place, a friendly chat takes place,
Numbers begin to swirl around. The intellectual chat, attraction of like minds,
Or even the rebellious differences stand in a corner against numbers.
Time flies and so does one progress with various experiences.
Does it matter if you are too old or young to be with someone?

Who gets to judge about numbers?
Nothing occurs very young but takes place during adulthood with mature thinking.
How should one deal when age becomes a problem to a new relationship?
More or less, does anyone have the right to judge if one is not married at a certain age.
With observation, reading various articles, numbers have created a nuisance in the mind of shallow thinkers in many societies.

When all the feelings are right, then why do numbers go wrong?
Doesn’t sensibility, love, responsibility or even security count or is it overshadowed with age.
Still one may try to let go and filter some thoughts, but how does one filter attraction and passion.
Years have passed by and still the jackpot of excuses concerning numbers have polluted various communities. A spark of hope is still there when faith and true love will attain blessings from the higher self and well-wishers always.

just breathing

When life takes hold of you no mercy given
Foreclosures popular , the new age to walk ..driven
        When your nerves are shattered
The home you live in seems scattered

           Just breathe ~

children don't understand why you can't give money on the daily
life feels cold and The bills are unbearable to open it seems
When there is not enough food in the pantry for all
you feel you are losing as you begin to fall , loose sight of dreams

            Just breathe ~

All these things are a test , every breath that counts.
It's the faith, and will to live , as anxiety mounts
In your darkest hour just call on his power
with the help of God above , you will surmount.

just breathe ~ just keep breathing

CONFIDENCE

                                                 CONFIDENCE

The world is full of people trying to stand out.
But they don’t realize that they already do.
They try so hard to figure what life’s all about.
With all their piercings, Crazy hair, and fresh tattoos.
They miss out because of the worry they feel.
Will they approve of the way I dress, think, or act?
In the spotlight a few moments they might steal.
But some of the stupid things they do can’t be taken back.
I have a secret that only the few wise ones know.
Love who you are and forget what they think.
And all the good things in life will soon follow.
And you shall rise above all as the critics sink.
So meet the world with you head held high.
Let them see the beauty that is in you.
Let them see your happiness and joy inside.
And know that nobody needs to love you more than you do.

Hope I Don't Embarrass Myself

Old age is fast approaching Wonder what it will be like Will I still be able to tie my shoes Will I still be able to dress myself in the morning ... or will I care Hope I don't embarrass myself Walking through the mall in my jockeys Will I break out in goose bumps Actually my goose bumps may need Assistance breaking out They are at least as old as I am Will I still ogle the young girlies in their short shorts Trying to remember why I find it titillating Dream on you old codger You're still breathing aren't you © Jack Ellison 2014

My addiction

I have an addiction...
It dont matter what time of day it is my addiction is there...
Not always in the literall since...
But it is always on my mind...
I lay my head down to sleep at night thinking about you...
I sleep dreaming about you...
I wake up thinking about you...
Your always on my mind...
No matter what I do my addiction is always on my mind...
Even if your not the last one I talk to before I lay my head down to sleep...
I still lay my head down thinking of you...
I just cant get enought of you...
No matter what my addiction is there...
My addiction has a name...
Her name is Shelby Nestle...
No matter how much we text or talk on the phone...
Its never enough...
I cant get enough of your beautiful eyes...
I cant get enough of that beautiful smile...
I cant get enough of kissing your soft lips...
That feeling I get inside when our lips touch...
Or holding you in my arms...
This is a new addiction to me...
Never have I been this addicted this quick...
It scares the shyt outta me...
But then I love it...
You are my new addiction baby...
You are my...
My heroin...
My ecstacy...
My cocaine...
You are my own personal drug...
I cant imagine and addiction stronger...
You are my addiction...
I wouldnt even think about trying to break this addiction...
I wouldnt go to rehab for this addiction...
I like it to much...
YOU ARE PERFECT JUST THE WAY YOU ARE

Is It God We Trust Or Leave In the Dust

Is It God We Trust? Or Leave In the Dust? As our courts remove God from this great nation. We are left with a confused and lost generation! As God is taken away from our public schools. A huge tide of immorality is what “rules.” The Bible is often mocked and discarded. It was on it’s principles this country was started! Just about anything of God seems to get scorned. So many “rush” to worship many ungodly forms. As God’s name is often tossed and thrown out. We tend to forget what HE is all about! Too often, his plans for living are tossed and abused. No wonder, there’s many who are lost and confused! As people forget God and worship the fallen creature. They look to themselves and “glorify” their features. Many ignore God, and get involved in deep addictions. And with this, come disease, heartache and afflictions! As God looks and sees this nation “bleeding.” It’s his righteousness, that we need to be seeking! If we would humble ourselves, he would hear our prayer! He loves all of us! And he really does care! Won’t you come to HIM, And invite him in? Won’t you allow him to be your master and friend? He brings strength and nourishment to the soul! It’s only in him that we can be made whole! The Age of Earth

THE AGE OF EARTH

God spoke the earth into being
He created woman and man
From the moment of its inception
You were part of God's plan

Theories abound as to the age of earth
But that matters not at all
What matters most is are you ready
To heed the Master's call

He stands at the door and knocks
Are you willing to let Him in
For He is the only source
That can save you from your sin

The existence of the earth
Will forever be debated
Until Jesus comes a second time
Will you be one who waited

Saying to yourself
One day, I'll heed His voice
It isn't wise to wait
Today is the day of choice

Tomorrow is not a promise
Yesterday is gone
Today is the day of reckoning
Don't face life on your own

Eternity is forever
In Heaven or in hell
When will Jesus come again
Only time will tell

The old fisherman and the hummingbird

Lazy I lingered on the porch of my terrace
a hummingbird was softly picking on a daisy
this reminded of the time when I lived at the coast
I use to watch seagulls as they dived into the sea
that ancient symbol of the strife to survive

But as I turned my eyes away from the sand
the hummingbird started to sing a melody
my soul surrendered to harmony
gone that old vision of agony

When I returned to the comfort of my lazy couch
in my head the hummingbird's song went on and on
took me back to times of innocences so clear and so pure
it finally won from that old cynic I'd become.
That was the day, I heard a hummingbird sing.

Sports now a days

(orignal date: 2/15/11)
This is my momemet of clarity,
pulp fiction no ly,
just look the man in the mirror and as why,

it is the education rules or rules on sport so where is my chair of sure lucky
nest at flat feet at my success of my school degree of sucess,

they say the groupiees are at the door before you reach the age of 18,
so in vision my dream,
late for class,
in the teacher eyes he's first to be sit it,

over and over regulation,
but who is you valdation the best left hand pitcher or kid with the highest iq,
words to truth life by,
life by the america education system is going truely die fast like the lip
syncing of nsync,
or what band was that, (ban)

ratical achievment, hand held glory, bold state meets,
word to digestion in fact i would take back it in fact i hope it inhance me in
fact i sit down giving the facts

why is that average player that is deserving of scholarship isnt even look at
twice but in fact the guy that make all the shot lingerie
to the fact can't even learn the bases,
bases which include square to the root the bases being give outstand
interview and the bases is getting truth scholar the excess to a worth school

Lost life in gamble,
and dropp out college by second semseter
i say to the world it lot more kids that gift not talent that didnt pursue that
dream

What is our duty to stand by,
 who is the role model,
the father or the athlete or insteady of a
father not a dad who eyes swallows to see the act of patrism reinstill and left
out mention words of constiution and more out reach skretting,

if iam to live by those words i just wont died but those rules but for me
my roots speak for it self

I speak out for legend that star game with one 'Fist to Sky'
know how they fight for segeration and ask how can they forget where they
came from

and ask who the true true american hero to that of a child that role model! !

i say the role model ofhis age are the college star that turn pro that spoken
on behalf of a nation, on the rightfulness of a equal salary and fair profit of
sale
for future pros,

this poem is for you even thought it was written a year or two before the
intermedation.

but if it wasnt for the pros that got the education would they
had won the lock out that effect generation to come?

I rest my case...

What did I do to deserve this

What I do to deserve this heartbreak,
this horrid and unnatural pain,
this cleche of events that strike me simultaneously
as the time ticks away,
and as the grinning faces pierce a whole through my soul
and my heart turns pale and slowly beats.
My heart is torn in two,
and I cannot find the doctors to stich me up.
I ask an old man,
how does love go about,
he smaked me in the face and went on.
The pain and the sorrow,
it is too much to feel,
too much to gain in one serving,
When I eat, I taste posion, not passion,
familiar faces turn grey, with ruby eyes and sharp fangs
they hiss at me, like a cat to a mouse.
I don't understand why I deserve this.
I am a good man,
who loves with open arms and a big heart.
With every hug I give,
I recieve a knife of betrayal in my back,
I feel the blood ooze from my open wounds,
suicidal tendencies roll through my mine,
but I quickly throw them out,
because Mama didn't raise no coward.
I see the blow, I clench my fists
and swing away,
God cries wanting to stop this madness,
Death laughs and soon joins in,
people join in and punch away.
I lay there on the concret blood everywhere,
my heart torn out of my chest,
each with a thousand knives stabbed in it,
as it slowly beats,
I lay their on the pavement,
looking up to the heavenly skies,
and as it starts to rain droplets of hope
I ask myself,
What did I do to deserve this?
Then, I shall close my eyes
and rest for awhile.

-9/23/13-

Inspired by all the betrayal and heartbreak I've faced, by so many cowards who didn't want to recieve my love. People I had thought who were my friends, came with invitations of humiliation and hate, and now I see who my real friends are; this pen and paper... Have a good day.
P.S. No one should ever be shown this much betrayal and heartbreak. I wouldn't even wish it on my worst enemy. Have a good day!

Growing up and getting old

Growing up, and getting old

They're growing old, so very old
Their bodies wracked in pain
Their minds are working all the time
Just old minds not yet sane.

He's growing up, and gaining wisdom
They're growing old and stale
They're still playing the same old games
Not floating on the now

He so quietly takes his pain
He knows that it's 'just life'
They curse and fight all of the way
Yet he, he feels no strife

Cause he is growing up [not old]
He flows with all that is
While they grow old in misery
He grows up, with bliss!

Everybody a winner in life's game

I have that wish in my heart many of you must have the same, a disease free healthy world forget all those cursed names. Many of you must have the same a dream of disease free world, forget all those cursed names let that joyful world unfurled. A dream of disease free world where people love to live, let that joyful world unfurled where everyone is ever active. Where people love to live children forget curse of pain, where everyone is ever active no disease to drive insane. Children forget curse of pain old age ceases to be a problem, no disease to drive insane everybody a winner in life's game. An age of hope

An age of Hope

In the wilderness your eyes open to see nothing
You hear voices but see no bodies
You call for friends, but no one comes through
Your inner self calls for your God and hope fills you
Your burden gets lighter for your God carries it
This is an age of hope indeed it is…

A place no man wants to be
A place feared by the brave and the strong
A place were brilliance does not matter
But knowledge and experience keep you high
A place where you abandon ideology and embrace believe
An age of hope indeed it is…

Hope, what you need most,
Strength, should increase with adversity
Spiritually every man grows
Thoughts are collected and more knowledge is gained
Lessons you will never forget
Light the only thing visible
An age of hope indeed it is

Darkness is an age of hope, some despair
But light always bring back hope
We all cry, learn, recoil and repent
For darkness has never defeated light
For a ray of hope always come and deliver us to paradise
For God is greater than the devil…

I Hope This Can, What I Can't

You uncovered
Your heart, my lack of wisdom,
Remorse can’t describe.

If time was replayed,
I’d have shared more heart your way,
Seen actions fore hurt.

I intended no pain,
I thought we could break cleanly,
But my thoughts were wishful.

Now I can’t undo,
And choose the outcome anew,
I apologize.

I hope this allows,
Flow, where feelings were stopped,
Recall hurts, even today.

Unable to salve,
What callous things seemed right,
Years cannot dissolve.

I thought I could solve,
The world’s pain extent with soft
Words, instead of hearing.

The Apple PASTURE

DONE

                             The Apple PASTURE

Oh how I long
To drift into the apple pasture.
Were once was and all well meet.
A pure and dear site.
Where silver reflection cover the still waters that holds the golden
grains of morality and the grazing souls lie young amounce no stars.
Oh how I long
To drift into the apple pasture
Were winds smell of melon and the trees whisper spring corals in the mellow dark and best of light and time creeps into no tomorrow.

                                               Jay

When He Breaks You

When He breaks you

It is to re-make you.

If given the choice

To give destiny your voice

You would undoubtedly have picked this state

Such is the irony of fate

He breaks you now

So you later see the how -

How the pieces of your journey come to be

A slow but eventual solving of this mystery

He makes you work work work – then fail

So that you realize your means are of no avail

Without His will -

But feel His mercy fill -

Even through the aches still

He punctures your bubble of hope

To teach you the meaning of struggling to cope

To avoid you saying ‘this was all from me’

Which you might say if it always did come so easy

He lets you fall

So that when you stand

It’s straight and tall

Your past sorrows

Not letting you drown

Without your ego

Weighing you down

Even while the road appears smooth

He lets you trip and trip again

So that you might stumble upon hidden treasures

From the dirt, which you may otherwise not gain

In essence,

He knows Best

The perfect Teacher

Who puts the perfect test

-

Truly,

He breaks you

To re-make you…

Better.

Observations

Some days are better than others
As I’m sure you have heard
But then again
We all have those
Good and bad
Right and wrong
The ways of life
Constant and strong
The rich and the poor
The in and out
thru the door
Life’s little quirks
Just seem to bring on more
It’s funny when you really look at it
I mean we have come so far in some areas
And horribly lack in others
We wage war over issues that seem silly
And pour out human compassion to those who can’t
We fight for those unable
And unleash unholy fury upon those who piss us off
We put up a front to the public to look good
We both know that we did not become the most powerful nation on the planet
By being nice
Think about !!!
It really is a fascinating thing
Life itself is filled with strange and wondrous things to keep us off balance
Every time you think you have it figured out
The rules change
So what is one to do ??
If we didn’t have the belief in religion
What would stop us from being good ??
Nothing that I can see
At what age do we lose our innocence??
When do we become aware that life isn’t all it’s cracked up to be ??
Anyone know ??
If you do then please feel free to let me know
When you look into a child’s eyes what you see is much different then looking into an
adults eyes
Is there anyway to lose your street smarts and go back to the age of innocence ??
I myself would love to be back in the day of not knowing any better
Ignorance they say is bliss
In my case it would be welcomed and embraced
Just a few crazy observations to ponder
Think about it !!!!!!!

Renewed Respect for Youth

Renewed Respect for Youth
By Franklin Price
4/21/2015

Renewed respect for youth
Happened several days ago
From high school students in a play
Just wanted you and them to know

Enjoyed the play had lots of fun
Was very glad I went
Renewed respect came after
To the cast party I was sent

Was sponsored by my daughter
Her daughter was a lead
Got lots of food together
This crowd of kids to feed

When they began arriving
They made the party fun
Respectful to this old man
Of them they made me one

Talked to me and shook my hand
And if I may be so bold
Felt I was a teen again
And not grandfather old

They were loud but were not raucous
Had fun did not destroy
I think without exception
Every single girl and boy

All gone by the stroke of twelve
Curfew or self was in control
Said thanks a lot for having us
Tomorrow again we play our roles

You see why my respect's renewed
Why I was so impressed
Their underpants not showing
Also liked how they were dressed

Here it comes now

that soft sail
and the wind looks as if
it’s trying hard to breathe
i have elements in me
a compass borrowed, for some sorrow i assuaged
my eyes upward and unfolding
over some wave i might beach
adrift
my cuffs are turned up
and arms are a reelin’, in that wind I know
is my kite yet to a’sail on this sea
coming for me

Am I Really Happy

Am I Really Happy?

With everything I’ve acquired and got...
What kind of happiness has it brought?

With everything I have or can name...
Has it given me joy or brought me shame?

With all that this world can give me…
What kind of life “lies beneath me?”

With all of my possessions and wealth…
Do I have contentment and “true” wealth?

I want it to be known and wish to express…
I’m not so sure, I’m what you would call “blessed.”

There’s something I know to be certain.
Tomorrow could be life’s “final curtain.”

There’s something that’s been on my mind.
Have I given God just some of “my” time?

There’s one thing I’m going to do… And do it now!
I’m going to come to the Lord and humbly bow.

This is something I need to say and do...
Give it all to God!  And tell him;
 “I LOVE YOU!”

Something that I should have done already...
When Christ comes again… I want to be ready!

God’s joy and happiness is true and very real!
The presence of God.., I can already feel!

What God has given to me, no one can take away!
For he comforts me and is with me every day!
