STOLEN MEMORY

Demeaning, degrading this is how you feel about your situation
Eating away at the person you once were
Memory short term, yours is decreasing at an alarming pace
Embarrassed when you can’t remember someone you knew well
No longer able to do the things you once so enjoyed
Time means nothing now as more frequently you live in the past,
Imagination plays tricks but the things you see and hear aren’t real
All I wish is I could have you back as you once were

Your Eyes

 (Dedicated to Folake)

Your eyes, woman
are like twilight rainbow
amorously bearing aloft passions of mine
toward androcytic ecstacy.
They tell of endless lights.

Night skies clarion the warmth of you
keep me balled-up till
i am tilted to your adorned essence.

May I call up words to adore you,
agglomerate them into a panoply of worshippers
unsandalled before you
like Moses at the burning bush.

And now you seem to fall asleep
but you tell me it's the heavy night
bidding toward a sunny dawn
wherein our love is lighted.

Slowly I let you fall asleep
impatient with the long night
waiting to gaze once more
into the eyes of my lovely love.

Then a lip is placed on yours
and you rouse up wide-eyed
smiling at my romantic move.
We enjoyed the night, cruising on.

Yesterday

Yesterday of them I have many
All here looking at me from my mirror,
My memories alas do not fade
Trouble me naught; only the manipulation,
Seemed to me driven by tomorrow’s ways
So much emphasis placed there,
Far from reality from those that promise
Away from the tack of truth once common sense lost.

Now everyday rapidly succumbs
It is the sunrise that tracks and makes the call,
Looks like today and tomorrow well travelled
As each one passes into you,
Though time is the daily measure
They're here we are told for your leisure
Here inside I still yearn for you the pleasure,
To be able to long for those that got away
Stay within this my comfort zone of which I know.

Oh how you have flown
I too within your subtle surge,
Believe in tomorrow I cannot
In tomorrow I see nothing but sorrow,
Yesterday is what we made; you and I!

SUMMER MEMORIES ON A FARM

He is mixing blue and purple on a portrait--me
while gulping coffee
of which water fetched from an old well

A figure taking shape on canvas
Wild strokes my hair
two sparkling dots my eyes

It feels so quiet here on a so quiet farm
Amid the mirror-shine mountain ridge
Not hearing a note from a bird, nor from a rooster

Mr. Brown's head tilting, eyes narrowing
Skinny paint brush against his mustache
long ashes falling off the dying cigarette

Amnesia

A mania she could not explain made her devise the plan:
No one could know where or what place she may have gone
If so, I’m not sure they’d tell; conclusions would be drawn:
Tomorrow, perhaps an answer will come, before the setting sun; but,
Really does it matter to anyone? Are we not all out of ‘town’?
Actually, yes I think it matters for many; especially matters to one.

T H E S E C R E T

Though I did not want anyone to know

Helping people is what I try to do so I can grow

Even when it is tough I realize I help people not for show

Self involvement is a must a way to make things make sense

Eager to do things I become sometimes dense

Caring about the things I love is what really can help my choice

Revealing my secret to you I will keep my poise

Even when the time comes I will not be spoiled because of my heart

The secret to doing things is make it a great memory so it will not part

HONORING A MOTHER'S MEMORY

Her song was too beautiful for ordinary words
Ending it on a sweet note that no heart ever forgot
Remembering her for offering a priceless gift
Seems right to praise her for a big heart without greed
Pop music and opera were the two things she loved
Immense was forgiveness when wrong made her sad
Regret for not having loved enough was a silly guilt
Incredible was her enthusiasm towards all children
Total discipline she demanded like soldiers in combat
All but pain mom withheld from me, trust was the essence
Lording over others with equality was pure nobility
Illness invaded her body, but she battled it with fortitude
Vigilance averted danger in foreseen things others ignored
Extraordinary was the faith she was placed in me learning values
Another mom couldn't have been be more thoughtful that she was
"Nonna" the grandchildren called her when they came to visit
Dear were those happy angels she proudly hugged and kissed
Seeing her fragility towards the end, one thought of her death
Though she suffered, she wished to share a delightful thought
Innovating was her style of looking at elegant things
Love secured by confidence, was an embrace of joy
Limpid eyes as skies gazed over to impart comfort
" Live with honesty " was a motto that identified her integrity
Indeed her words were full of fairness and humanity
Vengeance never shone on that face of endless humility
Endurance was learned by kindness, not by rage
Spiritual advice was a spring of lasting knowledge

For every month of March in every year

For every month of March in every year

For every month of March in every year
Of course marks days to my renaissance
Refurbishment, metamorphosis, rejuvenation

Every day of my life is never a dearth
Virtues are ample in each of them
Even I befriend and I reciprocally befriends
Revelation, rehabilitation are fine things
Yes that usually surround most of my day

Moment by moment I sense reasons and purposes
Of why precious is my being to this land of living
No matter coma, the what though
Till now that not all envisage comes to pass
Happy I am for those ones that come to pass

Of every month that revolves the year, aside
Full moon counts, is my month of April

Mind loves sharing the joy of half of that month
At least with hearts and eyes that give succor-
Roommates, family members, friends near and far
Comportment in consternation, plus compensation
Have to be my compilation till that day departures

It's in my day, meant to set aside by me
Nay, all day stand and bring the best to me

Even at work that I'll always be occupied by
Visitor's wants and needs, and by colleagues' things…
Elders' summon demanding full attention to their plights
Resting intermittently with siesta and dusk
Yes, all of these are pertinent and need to be orchestrated

You see when I tell you I do have time, not to check time...
Etching some of the things I believe will guest and best me
Anywhere, everywhere ...all times, so long as the world continues to live
Relics too relevant to living -the leader, the lead- will the encomium me be

Memory

Moments in time, so precious to hold,
Effortlessly they fade each day.
Maybe, it's just a sign of getting old?
Originally, that is what I prayed.
Registering in my heart, what I was being told
You cannot prepare yourself for a Father slipping away.

WHAT DOES CHRISTMAS MEAN TO ME

Choking back the tears when I
Hear the tiny children singing Christmas carols
Reaching out to friends and relations
I haven’t seen all year but sending them my news in cards
Sitting round the festive dining table with my loved ones with
Thoughts of those who are no longer with us
Miracle on 34th street on the television
And hearing White Christmas on the radio
Seeing the smiles on little faces when Santa has been

Rest InPeace Regan

Rest in peace my charming friend; lo your body is now asleep but you spirit remains with us always. With our constant lively action, everything seems much more still without you here, but we shall remember and cherish you as you were-fun loving and full of life. You lit up the world around you just a little bit more with your perky attitude and bright smile.
Evening twinkles a little bit brighter with a newly gained star. A special one-of-a-kind treasure with your light of burning passion smiling down upon us as you await our arrival
Softly we hum to your memory; as we blissfully play back in our minds all the times we had with you.
Time was cruel, taking you at early twenty-one years, but we took what we could-what we were given and made the best of everything we had. Cherishing every moment and enjoying you and your hilarious antics

Invaluable you were to everyone who met you and knew you. You were an amazing person and wonderful friend who always stood by everyone’s side and helped those who needed it. Knowing how full of life you always were, it’s hard to believe that you are now parted from this life. I still see you with that glorious smile upon your face filling your eyes with a deviously mischievous twinkle…
Never did I imagine I’d be having to say my final farewell so soon; the way you were burns in my mind as I whisper my love and goodbyes to you one last time...

Rest in sweet peace my dear friend; never will you ever be forgotten- Forever engrained in our minds your legacy will continue one for years to come…
Early morning reality strikes its cold, hard chord as sudden sadness as despair finally sinks in… you have been removed from this broken world where we mourn your loss; the pain hitting each person deeper than the one previous
Goodbye my adventurous dream, the spark of memories hold together the shattering pieces of my cracked heart that sorrow threatens to crush in the grips of its mighty claws tightly surrounding my aching, bleeding heart…
Angels rejoice as they gather you in hugs and welcome your coming, leading you to your place beside our lord, residing with him as you patiently await the rest of us to join you
Nostalgically I smile and watch as you fade into my dreams; I will never forget you my friend, remember me as we wait to see each other once more…

Wonderful

Will you come with me down a road magical,
Only in my deep memory does this magic glow;
Now in poems, I pen poetry with words quite beautiful.
Does love ever really die or does it just continue to grow?
Every single day is wondrous, in remembrances utterly staggering,
Rhymes that swirl in my mind, must meet paper to become poems lovely;
From my memory comes the inspiration and concepts that are often weeping,
Unique this road I have travelled in my short life that make my words seem lonely;
Listen to my magical words, like bird songs in a forest, oh listen to the melody!

My Gift

How can I live my life this way?
When did things change, it was so different yesterday
Where are my family and friends who were here everyday
I remember my home with lots of things going on
Now their not here everything is all gone
But just when I think there is nothing for me
I remember God gave me a gift of memory
It's so nice to remember the things that I had
And when I think about it it's really not that bad
And when I keep myself busy there's no time to be sad
So I thank you Lord for my gift of memory
And always always being there for me

Home Sweet Home

How delicious the feeling after long days
Occupying tedious roadways to find
Myself encompassed by congenial walls,
Enjoying the pleasure of harmonious spaces.

Soft pillows and bed enfold this
Weary body, quieting the inner wandering;
Each window winks a welcome, lights
Eagerly extend bright arms to hold me,
Tender guardians in a darkly changing world.

Hover over and around me, blessed quiet,
Only found where the sweet departed whisper
Memories of all that makes a place a home, where
Empty chairs, once theirs, embrace me warmly.

WORD PORTRAIT

With what I have to work with is all I need

Or do I? as I choose to write this with speed

Rule of thumb I have to emphasize the words I use

Do you think so? or should I just choose?

Portrait is a fascinating word it has so many meaning

Overview of this word is this I say; accent, highlight, illuminate, and stressing

Revealing more words to use is what I will do

The meaning of Portrait is what I will view

Random words that make the word Portrait now I will say

A word that means the same yet makes it more pleasant to overlay

I will now say some words or two; accentuate, feature, punctuate

These words can either be used or can be put on debate

New Years Eve

New Years Eve celebration
Ever so grateful of redemption
With overindulgence of consumption

Year-end celebrating
Edibles I've been craving
Aha so much champagne drinking
Recoup from stomach bloating
Swaying, light-headed teetering

Eek nightcaps of antacid
Verily, not so lucid
Eau de mornings, feeling putrid

Yesterday

Yesterday it seems like 'twas yesterday
All thoughts turned to days of toys and more play

My lines on the ground playhouse washed away
Troubles only came in course of one day

Seemed night dreams kept them at a distant bay
So think back on yesterday's bike ride splay

Far over into the ditch tumbling
Away goes the neat dress now loud rumbling

Now a tumble would result in disgrace
It would be glasses twisted 'pon pained face

Looks from people and whispers of that twerp
As snickers erupt behind smiles discerp

Though too old to a ride a bike, play with dolls
They're, well, they're no longer my call

Here in today thinking on yesterday
To return for only play, no, let's stay

Stay in the present gift of this blessed day
Oh! visit the past remember days of play

I now return to present, life speeds in
Believe in the buildiing blocks of back when

In reverie scenes 'twere but a dream day
Yesterday it seems like it 'twas yesterday

My Abiding Memory

My granny said to me, "It's not good to talk about the past"
You must always live in the present for only it will last"
Apparently I was lost not knowing what she meant
But as years passed her words seemed heaven sent
I then began to wade deep into the middle of 2015
Daddy died, mom followed, my life a crying scene
I'm uncertain about the months I really cannot recall
Nothing seemed real nor made any sense at all!
God knows I prayed to be relieved of earthly pain
Momentarily I could smile until it all came back again
Emotions were like bombs I never knew from day to day
Memories of the past exploded until I heard granny say
Omit all the past be happy for as long as you are here
Remember life is short, cast aside your Yesteryear
Youth seems to travel back whenever granny's near!

Outer Space

Lost myself
In outer space.
Far away from
Everyone.

Oh the loneliness does
Numb the soul.

Memories,
Are my only companions, and
Remembering you is all that
Sustains me and my sanity.

Welcome New Year

With our friends
Every day
Lights and Trends
Come along the way
Only now
May our year reach rest
Every day was for the best

Now we’re here
Every day comes down to this
What will we find? What will we miss?

Yes it is the New Year, and when that ball drops
Every last person
Around me will stop and rejoice in the New Year, but when they
Remember the past I wonder how long their smiles will last

Kiara Lebel

Minds that rupture from the pain in your heart, running through your veins until you feel it in your soul and your body turns cold
Endless nights, imagining yourself next to the human you adore, but one
simple discussion escalated to that level that you've always prevented.
Mountains where you stood, I felt the hardness of your tear-fall hit my face when we looked eye to eye
Our existence has been scarred into the skins, that even cocoa butter can’t rid us from
Remorse is running through my eyes, flames of unforgiving flashes begin to conceal when you touch my flesh I feel still
Your bloodshot eyes, tired of crying, you leave

Sunken Treats

              Sunken Treats

Sea swells lost my memoirs of HER
Under waves to caustic mire and murk’s DESIRE
Never to be seen again, that’s how it IS
Kegs of rum float up though, through ghostly grays, FOR
Eternity which finally released them, but not MY
Note book and papers of my lost LOVE

Terrible things are in the underworld DEEP
Real emptiness and pain score my lonely FEELINGS
Ethereal measures from sea and storm EMERGE
Arise from hidden secret depths, WITH
Treasures of my sweet wife, love mementos as I wait to see, THE
Summoned property that was buried beneath the WAVES

                                                                                         Acrostic Contest

Moments

What does not kill you, makes you stronger
And if you are taking short,it goes longer
Life is a journey so I decided to race alone
What else when am bored,I stick to my phone
A story untold is a script unfold
Staying awake to make sure time count
And if we sleep much, who cares about the sound
Just for this moment,am clear it will
And you feel so much then do the deal
Boys now wait, girls do want to relate
Moments they say is for now
But nobody knows how
Stay but you cannot stay forever
Die but no one knows whenever
More to come if you believe
Some to get by and others to relief
Wait a minute if you can
Claim the moment when you land
For those seconds, they fly to minutes
The minutes becomes hours too rigid
Wake those slumbering,vintage is here
Plan to create history, dashes are there
